That feel when the marketing department had better special effects and a better executed horror short than the actual TV production team.
I hadn't watched any AHS stuff in a long time, but the promos and the SDCC activation for the "Dollhouse" episode looked really creepy and had cool special effects so I decided to give it a chance and then the actual episode wasn't anything like the promos? The premise was far less ambitious, pretty trope-y, and not very scary. Almost no special effects and the big one they actually did in episode was pretty terrible looking. Literally the actors at the activation looked better. And the twist was just fan service for a season with a totally unrelated premise so the Final Girl moment felt like a giant cheat.
I dunno.. Once again, AHS falls really short of its potential and disappoints me. I don't know why I expected better.

American Horror Story is fucking insane for more reasons than I could name right now but one of the reasons I’m stuck on at the moment is that it had multiple characters (including one of the two main characters) get abducted by honest-to-god aliens and experimented on and that was a sideplot.

The fact that my mother is watching yet ANOTHER Yellowstone marathon makes me wish for the sweet release of death the show to end once and for fucking all just so that Wes Bentley can find new work that isn't this shitshow.
I've watched some of the shittiest of shitty indie movies for that man, I watched the shit he made when he was still hooked on heroin and actually stoned on camera, I watched the absolutely DOGSHIT pre-MCU adaptions of fucking Jonah Hex and Ghost Rider out of devotion to that man, but god, I'm not strong enough for this.

AHS STORIES SPOILER BELOW
———————————————————————
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!! SPALDING!!!! MY GOD!!!
the coven tie-in at the end was clever i can’t say i was expecting them to pull it out of the bag but i might just have hope for s2....
and i feel like because it was just that little twist at the end, it wasn’t like them going to murder house in last years, because the whole plot of that was about murder house.
AS LONG AS THEY DONT GO AND END THIS SERIES WITH SOME STORTA COVEN BULLSHIT LIKE THEY RUINED MURDER HOUSE IN THAT VIDEO GAME THING LAST YEAR. if that happens i will once again pretend like this spin-off doesn’t exist.
and baby myrtle...
okay, now that i’ve calmed down, what did people think of the first episode of ahs stories? it was alright in my opinion - i was genuinely freaked out/felt “icked” at certain parts which i will congratulate them on - when you watch so much you get desensitised etc.
especially her face - the whole uncanny valley thing rlly freaks me out and i will probably have nightmares about this face tonight, so well done on that front ahs stories.
loving the rip-off cordelia below. (even tho it was before her time cause it’s set in the 60s)
overall, i found this episode pretty creepy and the plot was creative and i liked the little coven tie-in and spalding origin story. i will say, it still feels kinda cheap, but i have hope. this episode, though with its flaws, gave me hope.
let us pray to the ahs gods that they find their feet after last year’s hell hole.
(imma go rewatch coven and apocalypse now byyee guyz)
