no but because kyo and tohru never fail to make me cry because the thing is, like yes they are perfect for each other, but they are perfect for each other by choice. it is hard for kyo to tamp down on his defensive aggression, but he does, for tohru, because he loves her and wants to be there for her. it is hard for tohru to ask for what she wants and to be truly vulnerable, but she does that with kyo because she loves him and he needs that from her, that trust. like yeah they are perfectly dumb in that same silly way, yeah they are both endlessly endeared by the other, and yeah they have some cosmic connection, but none of that would matter, none of that would come to anything, if they didn’t both make the active effort to change and to love each other in the way they needed.

When you're at dinner and your situationship (who slept with your mom) is there with another woman (not your mom) and you keep trying to make eye contact but he's ignoring you (sorta like he should've ignored your mom) and walks off and then later you go home and have an argument with your situationship (about how he slept with your mom.)

As someone who’s been a fan of Furuba since the early 2000s and a big fan of the remake, let me tell you that I fucking love the JP cast for Genshin.

Who wants to bet Kyo had to come to Haru for relationship advice at some point

Like we all know Kyo knows Tohru so well, better than anyone else.

But he’s a dumbass so he will mess up as a boyfriend idc.

So who tf would he go to for advice.

Haru

Haru has relationship experience (since he was fucking 13 so he’s the best in business)

Plus he’s Kyos friend and Kyo would never ever go to anyone else.

Ayame? Fuck no

Yuki? Probably worse than Kyo (I love Yun Yun but he’s a mess)

Hatori? No Kyo probably thinks he’s too angry for a relationship

Shigure? no.

Anyone else ? Hell no.

Which leaves Haru the only viable and the best option. He’s got a healthy relationship and is very understanding about giving advice, he’s a wise man.

Kingdra is shown and would be used in battling, but we all know he would probably have a Chansey helping him around the office lol.

Also there was a missed opportunity for Hatori to have scars.

the transition in the beach episode from akito saying 'is it fun to be with a monster' to kureno about kyo TO kyo gifting tohru a hermit crab to put on her sandcastle is actually brutal

Ah yes, my favorite niche character trope: Adult male figure who is incredibly immature and annoying, except for when everything has gone to shit and the protagonist needs a responsible adult, to which he reveals that he is absolutely capable of being one

Spencer is missing the "acts like a bit of an asshole but really cares deep down" quality that the rest have, but I couldn't bring myself to exclude him from the post

See, the trouble with trying to protect someone like Tohru Honda is, well, she’s a total space cadet, a huge klutz, and an all-around disaster magnet. 

”mom used love to avoid seeing the truth” is a very underrated line from fruits basket. because there is such a specific type of toxic family dynamic that insists on love above all else, but not in the sense that they truly love and care for one another, but in the sense that “love” is a mask and an excuse. i couldn’t have hurt you because i love you, there are no issues because i love you. it dilutes the meaning when someone says i love you when really they’re just trying to avoid reckoning with what’s really going on, love without honesty is just delusion. and kudos to fruits basket for encapsulating that.
