Find The Word (2x in one day yay!)
Thank you @words-after-midnight for tagging me. My words are: minute, dare, fresh, ahead, none
I will tag @late-to-the-fandom @writingpotato07 (I like tagging you since your comments are so sweet) and an OPEN TAG for anyone curious.
Words: Sky, Rain, Approach, Landing, Tense
Minute:
“Preem, I’m in,” Emily’s voice came through the phone line connected to Logan’s ear for this job. “Aaaaand, fuck yeah, done! Thanks, choomba. Come on back.”
“Only ‘cause I love ya,” Logan replied while she jerked out the datashard. “I’m ‘bout to delta.”
“Don’t lie. The nuyen helps.”
“I do love money, but you are my best choom.”
“Uh oh,” Emily said after a moment.
“What?”
“The shard must’ve triggered the silent alarm. Spuds are five minutes out. Delta delta!” Emily called out.
Dare:
Logan peered through the peephole to assure herself that the man was gone. There wasn’t anyone out there. She sighed as it was an obvious trap to her, but what was Logan supposed to do? After the rather tasteless burrito. Logan stripped to take a shower. The small cubicle covered in bleached white tiles. Smelled of harsh chemicals, but it was a rather reassuring aroma. At least it meant she wouldn’t catch some weird disease. Staying at a love hotel, or go to what seemingly would be her demise? It was a hard decision for her.
The television was only a distraction as she waited for the day to near its end. A tedious time. Logan would check her BBS messages, refreshing the page every few moments. Yet, she didn’t dare to send one of her own. “Just in case,” She told herself. “Can never be sure who is watching.”
Fresh:
While the two women conversed for hours, the club kept its loud music and dynamic nature, yet they paid no mind to it. Like a new book, Miranda wanted to know everything about Logan and was happy to tell the elven woman everything she wanted to know. Every time Logan tried to discuss something about Miranda, it was turned around back on Logan, which caused a bashful smile each time.
Especially when Miranda asked Logan, “Would ya like to go for a walk and get some fresh air?”
Ahead:
Their schedules were regimented as they were taken to a notable restaurant where they ate, signed autographs, and took photos with fans that happened to get lucky enough to be there at the same time. Logan stressed over every person that stepped up, but she didn’t do or say anything to any of them. At least they got her an order to go that Logan ravaged on the bus.
“What? I am fuckin’ starvin’ as I gotta work while you guys get to eat,” Logan protested the stares of those she protected.
“Nothing! Go ahead and munch,” Miranda replied.
None:
“Private property, asshole!” A gruff voice called out from the warehouse.
“Yeah, yeah! This is Emerald Dragon territory!” Shouted a feminine voice.
Her eyes looked around for the telltale gang signs with which the Emerald Dragon would decorate their territory, nor was there any loud Japanese metal blasting over the boomboxes that they so loved. Neon-lit super-tuned sports cars, usually Toyotas or Suzukis, yet there were none. But Logan knew she was full of shit, as if this was indeed gang territory; reinforcements would have been here as soon as Logan was spotted through the security cameras.

Just Turned Immortal
A/N: So I decided to make a part 2 for 'Happy Birthday, Darling'. I hope you guys like it. It's my first time writing smut in a poly relationship, so this was very interesting to me. I'm also very sorry if it doesn't make sense. Also been dealing with a lot of things in life, so this was written during my hardship with my family (thankfully it's getting better). That being said, I might not have written down all the warnings, so I'm apologizing now.
Warnings: MINORS DO NOT INTERACT, 18+, Cursing, Violence, SMUT, Not well written, Anal (male receiving), Oral (f & m), hand jobs, the boys being themselves, Marko being a horn ball, fluffy moments, mildly angsty, turning into a vampire, not beta read.
Word count: 6643

Part 1
MINORS DO NOT INTERACT!!!
Y/N was lost.
Everything was spinning, everything was still, her mind was fuzzy, but it was also clear, her body was on another planet, but she knew she was laying on a couch, unfortunately she was in a place she didn’t recognize.
But worst of all, she was hungover… Or at least she thought she was— it was the only logical explanation she could come up with with how she was feeling at that moment.
The only blessing was that she didn’t feel the need to throw up, the downside was she couldn’t remember where she was or what the hell happened last night. Sitting up, she groans holding her head as her blood starts rushing to the rest of her body, and she’s hit with a huge wave of dizziness.
“Ooooohhh sweet fuck…” Closing her eyes, she lays back down, draping her arm over her eyes, “What happened last night?”
Rubbing her eyes, she tries hard to recall her missing memories.
.
.
.
.
“Yeah, I got nothing.” Sitting up again, she looks round her surroundings; she’s in a cave.
Cool, new problem: why was she sleeping in a cave?
Why was there a couch?! How’d she even get into a fucking cave? Where the hell was Maria? They were supposed to do something last night… or was it two days ago?
“… What day is it?” Furrowing her brow, Y/N sees her jacket crumpled on the ground and two black jackets haphazardly thrown on a… wheelchair? “Okay, what the actual fuck happened last night, where the hell am I, and where the fuck is Maria?”
Running a hand through her hair, it’s instantly tangled in her bed head of curls, and she groans trying to free her hand; finally freeing her hand, Y/N takes a much-needed breath and tries to think clearly and calmly.
Emphasis on tries.
“Okay, as far as you know you aren’t in any immediate danger, Y/N. Just chill! You’re just in a cave— granted, you don’t remember how you got here, but that’s okay! It’s fine! Just peachy! That’s a-okay!”
It was so far from ‘a-okay’.
“Alright, alright. Just think clearly…clearly… clear—” A flash of a memory comes to her mind; the movie theater. She hurt someone, her cousin got mad, then she got mad, and they parted ways. Maria went home without her, they never got to hang out, she was ditched on her birthday by the only person she considers family. Her only saving grace were four guys that had a reputation for being punks, and low life’s, but from Y/N’s perspective they were anything but.
They didn’t reprimand her for sticking up for herself, they didn’t care about her temper or sassy attitude, they didn’t ditch her…
“Wait a minute…” Y/N looks around the cave again, “Is this… Is this their home?!”
Y/N takes in the scene before her— the surf boards leaning against the cave wall,  the tattered couch’s, a few skateboards, a boombox, small piles of clothes in random corners of the cave, blankets and curtains hung from different points in the rock face creating sections— as if marking off different ‘rooms’, a huge record collection, and the graffiti on the walls and ceiling— wait, what? Y/N tilts her head up, following the different graffiti tags with pure confusion, “How’d they do that?”
The sound of laughter and voices echoing around her pulls her attention, the voices seem to swirl around her, making her spin around looking for the boys. A fluttering sound behind has her spin one more time, and she lets out a scream as Marko leans into her space.
“Boo!”
“AH! What the fuck?!” Her fist is drawn back, but never connects with the demon cherub’s face, making him grin widely, “DUDE! Don’t do that, next time I’m letting my fist sail through the air— see if you’ll be laughing then.”
“Yay, Sleeping Beauty’s finally up!” Paul stands behind Y/N placing his arms on her shoulders,  hugging her neck, pulling her to his chest, “You sleep a lot.”
“What? No, I don’t.”
“Yeah, you do.” Marko scoffs as he gently picks up a pigeon, Y/N makes a face at his change in demeanor as he smiles at the bird. The pigeon coos at him bringing a small smile to his face and Y/N tilts her head smiling at Marko with amusement.
Who knew the most conniving and devious of the boys had a soft side for pigeons, she sure didn’t.
“I don’t sleep a lot, I have an internal clock, I can’t sleep past 9 o’clock.” Y/N takes notice of the glances that are exchanged between Paul and Marko, and squinting her eyes she purses her lips waiting to be clued in whatever secret these two have, “What? What’s with that look?”
“Nothin’.” Marko shrugs, licking his lips as he turns his attention back to the bird in his hands.
“You lie, so spill, Marko.” Y/N takes a threatening step forward, but Paul’s hold tightens, keeping her in place. Marko just laughs and glances at the space to her left, Y/N glances to her left jumping at the sudden appearance of Dwayne, “Holy shit! Don’t do that! Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!”
Dwayne just smiles placing something in her hand, looking in her hand, she finds a bracelet that matches the colors of her jacket. A look of surprise and slight bashfulness crosses her features as she stares at the bracelet and back at Dwayne; she gives him a small ‘thanks’ before slipping it on her wrist, feeling heat rise to her cheeks at the proud smile on his face.
Clearing her throat, Y/N admires the bracelet while talking to Marko, “So what makes you think I sleep a lot?”
“You really don’t know?” Paul tilts his head down to the side to look at Y/N wide concerned eyes.
“… Don’t know…what?” Panic is slowly flooding Y/N’s body at the look on Paul’s face, looking at Marko his face is just as concerned and now Y/N is freaking out, “What? What happened?!”
“You’ve been asleep for 3 days, Y/N…” The air stills at Marko’s words, while Y/N’s mind is stuck on loop, replaying his words. Y/N even lets out a huff of disbelief, but when she isn’t met with any laughter, her world slowly begins to crash around her. Or, it would have if it wasn’t for the scoff from Dwayne coupled with a smack on the back of Paul’s head, and a shoe thrown at Marko. The boys start laughing at the look of utter betrayal on Y/N’s face as she realizes they totally punked her. Marko releases the pigeon, doubling over in laughter, “Oh man, your face! Did you really think you slept for that long?! Oh my god, how gullible are you? Oh, that was great!”
Closing her eyes, she takes a deep breath, willing herself not to kill these two fools— it’s not easy, especially with Paul putting his weight on her as he laughs loudly in her ear. Unwrapping Paul’s arms from around her, she shoves him away, making him laugh harder as he falls back on the couch, “Get off me.”
“C’mon, babe. Come back.” Paul’s words are incoherent because of how hard he’s laughing. Both boys take a deep breath, smiling brightly as they look at Y/N’s unamused stare. With a quirk of her brow, silently asking if they’re done, they fall out laughing again, making her shake her head and move to Dwayne’s quiet corner.
Sitting down next to him, she crosses her arms, mumbling out, “Assholes.”
Dwayne doesn’t bother to hide his amusement, nodding his head in agreement. He places his arm on the back of the couch, scooting closer to Y/N as he pulls out a book, silently reading— to which Y/N is eternally grateful for, because she wasn’t expecting such nonchalant behavior from him.
Butterflies stirred in her stomach when he gifted her with the bracelet, and for the life of her, she couldn’t figure out why. Dwayne didn’t strike her as a person to randomly give gifts to people, let alone snuggle up to them while reading a book. It was such a domestic feeling— one she definitely wasn’t expecting, so how was she supposed to act in this situation?
On the outside she was relatively calm; sitting on the couch almost completely leaning into the curve of Dwayne’s side, watching as Paul and Marko finally stopped laughing at her and started wrestling, occasionally she'd spare a glance at a page of Dwayne’s book and then at him (never taking his eyes off of the pages, he’d smile making her look away timidly). She even started playing with his bracelets, which lead to her playing with his hand, to them now intertwining their fingers.
But on the inside?
On the inside, it was chaos. Her inner voice was pulling out her hair, running in circles and up the walls, laying on the floor screaming in a puddle of her own tears— tears of confusion, excitement and fear— flipping imaginary tables, clutching her fists screaming into the void, and sitting in a burning, crumbling house that is her mind.
All in all Y/N was a mess, and had no idea how to address the hand holding, all she wanted to do was admire his bracelets without disturbing his reading— so how in the sweetest of fuckary did they end up holding hands?
Well, she knew how, she was there, but it still didn’t add up… oh wait.
She was playing with his rings, she tried to pull one off, and he engulfed her hand in his, stopping her, she tried to get her hand back and HE intertwined their fingers. The butterflies didn’t settle down once, she realized, this was his doing— they simply got worse and all she could do was act unbothered and bored. As long as no one noticed, everything would be okay… and then David walked in.
He didn’t say anything to Y/N, just looked (at her with those strong, commanding blue eyes) at their hands with a face that had her feeling like she just committed some great sin against him, but the smirk that quickly appeared on his face, made her feel like she had to justify herself.
“He- he did it!” Y/N winced at the sound of how childish her words sounded, and she knew that the wide grin on David’s face was going to make her regret even opening her mouth.
“He did what?” His tone is teasing as he shifts his gaze to Dwayne.
“H- he—…” Her voice is small and embarrassed, as she can’t seem to form any words. Shaking her head, she uses her hair to hide away from the eight pairs of eyes on her, “Noth- nothing.”
Y/N closes her eyes, upset with herself for crumbling under all the teasing, she wasn’t easily flustered, but she’s also never been in a situation like this either. Everything that’s happened to her so far has been something she’s only dreamt about, and now that it’s actually happening to her, all she can do is play it by ear. She was way in over her head and she knew it— she also knew that they knew it too, and they were enjoying every second of it.
God, she felt like a fool… maybe it was time to take herself out of the equation and go home, put an end to the teasing and sexual tension—
Wait…
Opening her eyes, she stares down at her lap, taking in the state of her once clean white t-shirt; it was stained with a variation of red she’s never seen before…and was it sparkling in the light?
Blinking in confusion, a tidal wave of memories hits her— memories that have her snapping her head up to Marko and Paul, who are in their own little worlds.
“No way.” With her free hand, she lightly touches her lips, seeing in her mind’s eye a hazy, smokey Marko walking to her with a predatory gaze drinking from a wine bottle. His lips on hers as he fed her the wine, the way his knee grazed her most intimate area, his hand tangled in her hair in the best of ways—, “No way!”
The memory jumps to the feeling of Paul’s tongue dragging across her neck, up her jaw, capturing her mouth in the sloppiest kiss she’s ever had. Had she been in her right mind it wouldn’t have gotten very far, but even now she finds herself wondering what it felt like again.
An inaudible sigh leaves her as she remembers Dwayne’s kiss.
That kiss was… how does she even begin to describe it? It was so sensual, there was such passion behind it— like he was trying to tell her something, trying to drive some unspoken point home…
Then there was David.
With parted lips, she tracks her eyes over to David, who is still watching her with that teasing grin.
“Holy fucking shit!”
The strongest memory was him water falling the wine into her mouth, but that wasn’t the weirdest thing! The weirdest thing was that she wanted to do that again. Heat spread through her body as David’s eyes bore into hers, it seemed like he was trying to communicate with her. Silently telling her he wanted it just as bad…or maybe it was just in her head?
It wouldn’t be the first time she overthinks or misreads a situation. So, in true Y/N fashion, she brushes the memories off as a wild and very vivid sex dream and goes back to debating on whether or not she should go home. Maria is probably worried too, she needs to talk to her, let her know she’s alright and not mad about their dumb fight.
Sighing, Y/N lets Dwayne’s hand go and stands up stretching, feeling the tension leave her body, she goes to the other couch to retrieve her jacket. All eyes are on her as she puts it on, but only David speaks.
“Going somewhere?”
Y/N furrows her brow at the demanding tone in his voice, as he looks at her with a serious gaze— a look a parent would give a child who disrespects them after you told them not to do something. Y/N almost apologizes and sits down, until she remembers that she isn’t a child, and he isn’t her parent. He’s just some guy.
“Yeah, I’m going home.” A beat of silence goes by, before there are scattered chuckles throughout the cave, and David gives her a face that makes her feel stupid, as if it say ‘you are home’. Doing her best not to stumble over her words, she keeps her voice even, “I don’t live here, remember? We were just chillin’, and it’s been fun, but I gotta go.”
“You don’t have to.” Marko chimes from his spot on a ledge above them, making Y/N quirk a brow at him, because how’d he get up there without a ladder? “You could stay.”
“Yeah, babe, we like having you here.” Paul smiles brightly, rolling a blunt glancing at Dwayne, “‘Specially Dwaynie.”
Flustered by Paul’s words, Y/N looks down at her sneakers before looking back at Dwayne, who seems unbothered by the blonde's words. His stare isn’t intimidating, or condescending, but warm and inviting, and that scares the shit out of her. Breaking eye contact with him, she looks at David for help, but his stare is the same, only difference is that now he quirks a brow at her, silently telling her to try to downplay everything that’s been said to her.
It sends a shiver down her spine because it almost feels like they’ve read her mind as they try to get her to stay.
“… But I…” Her eyes are moving around the cave, but she’s not looking at anything in particular, she’s seeing her thoughts roll through her mind like credits as she tries to come up with a real reason to leave, “I need to talk to Maria.”
The cave is quiet as Y/N brings her gaze to David, he sits completely still, his face is blank, and he almost looks like a statue while Y/N wonders if he even heard her. Opening her mouth to repeat herself, David finally answers.
“Come with us.” The boys are moving about the cave with such grace and quickness, Y/N is almost left behind as they exit the cave.
“Huh— wha— wait!” Scrambling after them, she joins them at the top of the bluff. As they get their bikes, Y/N stares at the sky with wide eyes, “Why… Why is it still night? How long was I asleep?”
“You slept all day. It’s about 11 o’clock.” Paul grins, staring up at the moon, blunt hanging lazily from his lips.
Y/N stares at him like he has two heads, “That’s not possible. There’s no way.”
“Apparently there is, Kitten.” Her head snaps to David, who inclines his head behind him, “Get on.”
To everyone’s surprise, Y/N climbs onto the back of his bike without any protest, wrapping her arms around his waist. He shares a look with the boys, but Y/N is too busy staring up at the moon to notice. Revving his engine, David sets the pace as they sped through the woods and down to the beach, at the top of a sand dune, the boys stop, spotting a small bonfire out in the distance.
“Anyone feel like partying?” David sends the group a devious smile, and they drive their bikes closer to the party.
“David, I need to go home. Just drop me off and come back to your party.” Y/N’s voice is growing irritated as she thinks of her cousin. Much to her chagrin, she’s forced to let David go as he gets off his bike, getting ready to join in the festivities.
“You’re gonna want to hang out here first, trust me. After this, you can go see Maria.” David’s smile sends chills down Y/N’s spine as she feels a sense of dread come over her, Dwayne comes next to her, offering a hand to help her off of the bike and that helps calm her down a bit, but she’s still not feeling great about David’s words or smile.
Marko and Paul are ahead of the group crouching at the top of a sand dune watching the party of 9 with hungry eyes, David and Dwayne join them at the top of the dune as the four of them share some kind of unspoken conversation. Turning around to Y/N, Dwayne holds his out to her again, giving her a smile that has her resolve cracking. Groaning,Y/N takes his hand, crouching down next to him; Marko and Paul give her smiles of approval and thumbs up as they look back at the small group.
“So why are we hiding again?” Y/N whispers to Dwayne, but he doesn’t seem to hear her, as his eyes grow dark and dangerous. She’s taken aback by the way he looks at the group— like an animal watching its prey, “Dwayne?”
“Quiet.” David’s voice gets her attention as he turns to look at her with a smiling, monstrous face, “You’re gonna scare them.”
The boys laugh maliciously as Y/N stares at them with fear filled eyes, her voice is lost on her as they disappear from her sights. Looking around frantically, she stands up, gaining the attention of one of the party goers.
“Heeeeyy~ we got a visitor!” A guy slurs pointing at Y/N, she looks down at them about to tell them to run, or hide because there are monsters hanging around, but her warning never comes.
Someone lets out a bloodcurdling scream as they’re lifted into the air, and blood sprays down onto the sand, the individual's friends, and the fire. Everyone seems to sober up quickly as they start running away from their assailants, but it was pointless. Two girls run towards Y/N, yelling at her to run away, but the smell of blood hits her like a ton of bricks, and these girls are covered in it.
A sound Y/N’s never heard before bubbles in her chest, and out of her mouth as she feels the bones on her face shift, and her teeth poke her bottom lip. Her nails become sharp and slanted as her world is flipped upside down. She grabs both girls by their throats, squeezing, watching with glee as her nails rip through their skin with such ease.
Y/N can’t help but admire it, but then, there’s a burning sensation building in her throat. Swallowing does nothing for her, but she knows what she has to do— it’s instinctual, it’s primal, it’s her new normal. Sinking her fangs into one neck, she takes her fill, all but tearing off the girl’s neck, her friend is garbling and choking on her own blood as she tries to speak, tears falling from her eyes as she sees Y/N descend on her next.
As quickly as the carnage started, it’s over.
Y/N breathes out in relief, turning her face to the sky with closed eyes, as blood rolls down her throat, quenching her thirst. Licking her lips, she sits down in the sand wrapping her arms around her knees; not in a scared manner, but a relaxed one as she watches David grab the two dead girls, chucking them into the bonfire. Marko, Paul, and Dwayne are having the time of their lives as they jump around the fire, whooping and hollering, blood gracing their still changed faces, something about this sight makes something inside Y/N snap.
Getting up quickly, she all but knocks Marko into the sand as she grabs his face; not expecting to be grabbed, he lets out a ‘Hey!’ but it’s swallowed by Y/N’s lips on his as she forces her tongue into his mouth— he honestly wasn’t complaining. His hands find their way to her waist as he pulls her closer, and by sheer will power, he lets her have control. She pushes him into the sand, straddling his hips, licking the blood on his face and neck, her fingers tug on his hair, causing him to growl out a groan and roll his hips up into hers eagerly.
Breaking the kiss, she puts her hand on his throat, squeezing it tightly as she meets his movements.
“Oh, fuck.” If it wasn’t for Paul’s words, Y/N would’ve forgotten the others were there. Looking back at Paul, she gets off of Marko (much to his disappointment) and tugs Paul by his jacket, kissing him the same way he did her the night before. Hooking his hands under her ass, he hoists Y/N up making her wrap her legs around his waist, a body is pressed behind her. Breaking the kiss, she sees that she’s squished between Dwayne and Paul and her mind is on overdrive, synapses are firing faster than she can keep up, hands map out her body and before long clothes are torn and thrown about as lips meet teeth, skin and blood.
Her thighs tighten around Dwayne’s head, as he holds her in place on top of him, her back is arched back as Marko is behind her, straddling Dwayne as he kisses and nips her neck, playing with her nipples, hissing on occasion as Paul enters him from behind.
He’s gonna get him back for this, and Paul knows it, you can tell by the snicker that comes from him every time he snaps his hips forward, making the smaller blonde clench around him.
“You are gonna be so sorry later, Paul.”
Dwayne can’t stop the chuckle he lets out, which has Y/N mewling out as it sends vibrations through her body. Her moan has each of them groaning in pleasure… well, all of them but David.
He’s too busy palming himself through his jeans as he takes in the scene before him; Y/N sitting on Dwayne’s face— her face flushed as a light coat of sweat glistens on her body due to the flames of the bonfire, Marko right behind her pulling sounds and caressing her like he’s done this a thousand times before— his own face is twisted in pleasure due to Paul’s thrusts, Paul behind Marko searching for his own release as he starts to slowly get to the edge of cumming— with each passing second the four feel their release creeping up on them. Caresses turn into nails digging in skin, kisses become bites, and once hooded eyes become screwed shut as the coils get ready to snap.
David says nothing— he doesn’t have to, a human can smell his arousal. He opts to just watch, that was until Y/N looked at him, and then to the prominent bulge in his pants. By now, all their faces are human-like, but Y/N’s eyes shift to that yellow red as she quite literally begins to salivate.
In a blur of black, David is in front of her, tugging her head back, staring down at her with a warning in his eyes.
She ignores it, using what little strength she has to tug on his pants.
His pants are pooling around his ankles, and he can’t stop the hitch of his breath as Y/N’s hand grasps him with such familiarity, and stares right into his eyes as she takes him all the way in. Her eyes flutter shut at the sound of satisfaction that comes from him, it sends shivers down her spin, causing her to fidget at the feel of goosebumps going up and down her arms, making her arch back again. Marko’s hands have been gripping her hips, scratching her on occasion from Paul’s thrusts, but seeing her take David like it was working him up more.
Everyone knows that Marko easily gets riled up, especially when it comes to sex, but this took extreme control on his part to not take her away and have her all to himself. He moans at the thought of having his way with her, hearing the pants, moans and screams that she’d let out, begging for more or for him to stop.
Either way, he’ll have her.
His member leaks pre-cum onto Dwayne’s torso and Y/N’s lower back, because of Paul, his dick has been brushing against both of them for the better part of 8 minutes, and now that his mind is reeling, he’s about to explode. Nestling his dick between Dwayne’s chest and Y/N’s ass, he wastes no time getting to his high.
Paul is in his own world, not noticing the scene before him, instead he focuses on the curly blonde in front of him and Dwayne’s stomach flexing due to the brushes of Paul. Pulling out of Marko, he grabs Dwayne’s dick along with his own, and pumps himself two, three, four times— strings of cum shot out landing in the sand, on Dwayne’s side and some on Marko’s back. Panting out, he continues his task with Dwayne, smirking at the way the brunette’s hips buck and the tightening of his core. His seed shoots up into the open air, making a mess on himself and in Paul’s hair.
Marko felt cum land on his shoulder and sends Paul a glare, knowing full well that he jerked Dwayne and angled him like that on purpose.
“Oh, you are so gonna get it!”
Paul just snickers as he licks his hands clean, and then he sees David getting his rocks off in Y/N’s mouth. His mouth hangs open as he watches Y/N hold onto David’s hips like a lifeline, the way she pulls back placing kisses on his shaft, how she shuts her eyes at the feeling of Dwayne grazing that spot just right, taking David back in her mouth with renewed vigor because of it.
Now he wishes he paid attention.
Marko on the other hand is about to blow, and when Y/N takes her hand, placing it on his thigh searching for some kind of perch, he bites her neck. Feeling her blood run down his throat gives him goosebumps of his own as he finally cums in his pseudo hole, riding out his orgasm.
Y/N had been fighting off her release for the longest, she really didn’t think she’d make it far with how Dwayne ran his tongue along her folds, and gave her clit kitten licks, watching her jump at the feeling. She didn’t think she’d make it past the vibrating moans, the teasing tugs on her nipples, kisses up and down her neck, or the way David felt resting on her tongue guiding her head back and forth.
None of those things got her over the edge.
No, what got her there was the feeling of fangs piercing her neck and the sinful moan Marko let out as his hips stuttered under her.
That made her heart stop… well figuratively anyway… her whole body seized up, as the coil finally snapped, her hips stuttered, her thighs tightened around Dwayne’s head, her eyes rolled back as a sound— something akin to a whine and a sigh wrapped itself around David’s dick. Her jaw went slack as she pulled her head back from David, which didn’t bother him in the least because that sound— whatever it was— had him shooting cum all over her face.
“Fuck.” Was whispered by one of them as they all came down from their own highs.
Y/N felt heavy and light at the same time, she felt like she would float off into space with that mind-blowing orgasm.
“Whoa, careful, Spitfire, or you might fly away.” David’s voice is amused but cautious as he grabs Y/N by her arms, enveloping her in a hug. With a content sigh, she lets her body rest against David’s, as he pulls her down to sit in the sand.
No one says anything for a few minutes, each of them enjoying the calm breeze that blows by and the sound of the waves hitting the beach.
Marko hands Y/N her jacket and very ripped jeans, smirking as he does, Y/N graciously takes them, unable to stop the laugh that comes from her as she holds up her jeans.
The bonfire is dying down now, and the boys are uncharacteristically quiet– time to address the elephant in the room.
“... So… What are we?” Y/N doesn’t look at the boys, she just stares at the small fire, playing with a stick she found. In moments like these, it’s always good to have something to distract you a bit from the unknown. How else are you going to stop a panic attack?
“You know what we are.” David says, taking a puff from his cigarette.
“Well, for the sake of me, just pretend I have no idea.” She sends him a small glance, and he isn’t in the mood; he knows she’s smart, he knows that she figured it out when they killed their first victim. Sighing,Y/N begins digging in the sand with her little stick, “The way my brain works its– just indulge me, okay?”
David raises a brow at her, looking at Dwayne, “You tell her.”
Y/N turns to Dwayne, who still has not only her essence on his face, but Marko’s cum drying on his chin, neck and chest, and Y/N can’t hide her smile or surprise.
“There’s a whole ocean, right there, dude. Go wash that off before it gets all crusty or whatever.” She makes a show of pointing at the ocean behind him, but he simply shakes his head and smiles.
“Nah.” Licking his lips, he adds, “I worked hard for this.”
Y/N closes her eyes, trying to hide her smile but ends up laughing at his words, not in an insulting manner, but a surprised one, “Alright then.”
“... Also, to answer your question, we’re vampires.” Dwayne shrugs his shoulders nonchalantly, but even a blind man can see that it was awkward for him to say. You can’t say that and expect someone to believe you without some kind of undeniable proof; sure, Y/N had it, but it still sounded ridiculous.
Regardless, Y/N nods her head with a furrowed brow, “I don’t remember being bitten– well, until Marko did just now.”
The boys smile at the memory fresh in their minds– yes, this was going to be something they participate in for many, many, many years to come.
“There’s more than one way to make a vampire.” David lights another cigarette, watching Y/N carefully while she thinks over his words, wondering what he meant.
Sure, she knew what he said, but it didn’t add up to the memories she had; was it done through the kisses? Or perhaps it was done by hanging around them?
Nah, that doesn’t make sense.
“Alright, vampires drink blood, they need it to survive and yada yada… So to make one, you bite someone… What else can be done?” Her brows are scrunched up, as she thinks hard, glancing at Marko who drinks from a beer that one of the party goes had, “Oh wait what?!”
Turning her head to David, her eyes are wide as she gives him a look of ‘bitch what?’
“Look at that, you figured it out.” His tone was a bit harsh, but there was a smirk playing on his lips, as Y/N threw the stick at him, sneering as she did it.
“The only good advice I was ever given was to ‘never take drinks from strangers’– of course, how I ended up drinking it was something that was never covered, but whatever, I guess.” Y/N shrugs her shoulders, smiling slightly at each of the boys; her face grows solemn as she plays with her aglets, “... I’m never gonna see Maria again, am I?”
The boys don’t say anything, but they don’t have to, Y/N knows the answer already. There’s no way she can, maybe for a few years, but when Maria starts aging, and she doesn’t, what is she gonna say?
Sighing, Y/N hangs her head huffing out a laugh, “Oh well, it was just her and me anyways, and sometimes– a lot of times, it was just me. I’ll just have to slowly leave her life before disappearing completely… If that’s alright?”
“Don’t see why not.” Paul shrugs, laying his head down in Marko’s lap, while the smaller blonde leans back on his hands looking out at the ocean deep in thought.
“You could just kill her.” Marko is met with hostile faces from Y/N and Dwayne, while David and Paul keep quiet, but it’s obvious they aren’t opposed to the idea.
“I’m not killing my cousin– I don’t care how angry she makes me.” Y/N pauses before glaring at Marko, “Weren’t you flirting with her?!”
“I flirt with everyone, she’s no different.” Marko sticks his nose to the sky like a defiant child, opening his eyes, he giggles at the death glare sent his way by Y/N. Pushing himself up, he makes his way to her, grabbing her jaw tightly. His eyes flash yellow as he kisses her harshly, chuckling as Y/N bites his tongue in retaliation, “It’s cute that you think that’ll deter me. Keep that up, and you’ll be in for the longest night of your life.”
“That a fact?”
Another thing about Y/N, she that she has a tendency to speak before she thinks (though I’m sure you’ve figured that out by now). You see, she thought she was being cheeky, sassy, even cute, but what she really did was challenge the most dominant, sex driven vampire in the pack. She didn’t need to look around the bonfire at the other boys to know that those three little words were going to be her undoing– in the most sex filled of ways.
Marko’s eyes became cold, calculating, and distant as he stared into Y/N’s very soul, she wasn’t fooling anyone– she was scared. A look like this is something David would give at the drop of a hat, but to see the cherub faced boy do it only confirmed what she said the day before, Marko was a devil, and he was going to show her.
Her throat became dry all over again, but what she needed wasn’t blood, no this was a different kind of thirst, one only Marko was going to quench– it’s not like she was going to complain, even if she did, it wouldn’t do her any good. He was going to make her beg, cry, and shake until she couldn’t anymore, and then keep going.
With parted lips, she stares back at him, almost hypnotically, as his hand trails down her chest. Goosebumps are left in the wake of his nails as he pulls off her jacket, getting a full view of her bare skin. Before he can claim what’s his, a seashell is thrown at his head, making him turn and snarl at Dwayne, who in turn points at David.
“Before you go and fuck her senseless, we’ve got some business to attend to.” David raises a single brow at Marko as he levels David with a glare, “Said she’d see Maria after this, and I am a man of my word.”
“... Fine.” Marko replies after a beat of silence and David’s own hard glare. Handing Y/N her jacket, he can’t stop the small smile at the spaced-out look on her face. She had no idea what was in store for her, but she was ready to be ordered, owned and used by him, that gave him some peace of mind and a huge ego boost.
After they wash up in the ocean, Marko is tasked with putting out the bonfire (David’s punishment) while the rest make their way back to the bikes, Dwayne drapes his arm over Y/N’s shoulders bringing her close to him, as he buries his nose in her damp hair. Smiling up at him, she kisses his cheek, earning herself a warm smile from the brunette.
“So, how’s it feel to be immortal, babe?” Paul muses from his bike, watching Dwayne help Y/N onto David’s bike.
Y/N lets out a breathy laugh, pretending to think for a moment as she wraps her arms around David’s waist. Dwayne straddles his bike, looking at Y/N with a questioning gaze as she shrugs her shoulders. David turns slightly with a raised brow, waiting for her answer; by now Marko has joined the group, and is also curious about her answer. He can’t hide his apprehension at the silence emitting from their newest member.
“I don’t know.” The honesty in her voice strikes a cord with the boys as they share a look with each other. They never did ask her if this was something she wanted– something she truly wanted. They thought that she would be ecstatic– who wouldn’t be? The gift of immortality isn’t something given to just anyone, she met all of their requirements, but if she didn’t want it, what were they going to do? They quite literally stole her life, and now she'll probably hate them for all eternity.
Sure, they had a huge bonding moment, but would it be enough in the long run?
Dwayne opens his mouth to say something to comfort her, but his voice is caught in his throat at the impish smile she gives them with her vampiric face, “I just turned immortal.”

Pairings: Liam x MC (Ella) Summary: A one shot of my favorite couple - it’s Liam and Ella’s anniversary and there are big plans in store.
A/N: Okay, I’m gonna be very honest, I am super nervous about posting again. I wrote this maybe last week and kind of finished it earlier today. Thank you to those that I vented to about actually posting my stories, not sure why I feel really sick right now. New blog name (used to be @callmeellabella), new post LOL and I didn’t really know who to tag since it’s been a long time so I’m using my old list. Please let me know if you want off.
A/N2: Participating in @wackydrabbles this week. Prompt will be in bold.
Thank you @alyssalauren and @ofpixelsandscribbles for reading through this for me and kind of handing me that invisible paper bag for me to breathe in. Love y'all!
Warnings: Fluffs. A lot of fluffs.
Words: 1658
Isaiah and Noelle grinned as they filmed their parents in the seat in front of them, holding hands. After 15 years of marriage, Liam and Ella were the epitome of the best partners to each other and parents to their children. There were rough times, of course, you can’t escape those, but the King and Queen handled things in stride.
Noelle’s eyes filled with tears when she watched her dad lift her mom’s hand to his mouth and kiss her knuckles. The way he looked at Ella, like she was the only woman in the world, made Noelle have very high standards for a future partner for herself.
Isaiah grew up knowing how you were supposed to treat a woman, and it was all modeled from how his dad treated his mom. At 15 years old, he grew up in the public eye, but thankfully, his parents allowed him to have a normal childhood. The only time there was mention of royalty was a gala or a ball held at the palace; his Uncle Leo, Max, and Drake as well as his Aunt Olivia and parents all dressed up.
It was their parent’s anniversary that day and Liam had planned a family dinner, just the four of them.
One week ago
“Hey guys,” Liam smiled as he watched his kids sitting at the kitchen island doing homework.
“Hey, dad.” “Hi, daddy.”
Liam hung his keys on the wall by the door and shoved his hands in his pockets. “Next week is mine and your mother’s anniversary.”
Noelle and Isaiah stopped what they were doing and met their father’s gaze.
“I … was hoping you could help me with something,” his brows rounded as he stared at them.
“Sure, what did you need?” Noelle asked.
Isaiah chewed his bottom lip. “No pranks though, right dad?”
Liam chuckled, remembering that anniversary and how it went … so wrong. “No, son. No pranks. Plus, your Uncle Maxwell is not invited until later.”
Present-day
“Guys, we’re here,” Liam turned to Noelle and Isaiah and widened his eyes at them, the two nodding back with small smiles. Ella missed the entire silent exchange as she climbed out of the black SUV after Bastien opened her door.
Everyone piled into the restaurant, all of them laughed and cried as the kids asked for a cake to be presented to their parents to celebrate their special day.
“How beautiful,” Ella wiped her tears away as she gazed at the red velvet bundt cake covered in cream cheese frosting. “Was this your doing?” She turned to her husband as he smiled.
“No, love, that was them,” he gestured towards Noelle and Isaiah.
“Thank you,” she used a tissue to dab at both her eyes.
“Fifteen years is a long time to be married, ma,” Isaiah dimpled as he looked from his mom to his dad. “Now hurry up and eat it so that we can have a piece!”
The family laughed and dug into the cake. An hour later, they slowly stood from the table, grumbling about how full they were.
“Oh God, why didn’t you stop me?” Isaiah smacked his sister in the arm.
Noelle glared at her brother and punched him in the arm. “It’s not my fault you ate like you never saw food before.”
“Why did you say that?” Isaiah whined.
Liam and Ella walked behind their children, smirking at each other.
“They’re so dramatic,” Ella snorted.
“Wonder who they got that from?” Liam arched a brow at his wife.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, Your Majesty.”
“Love,” Liam waited until she turned to look at him. “I have a surprise for you.”
“Where? What is it?”
“Come on,” he tugged on her hand and led her out of the restaurant and into the waiting SUV.
“Where are we going?”
“Ma, just wait, we’ll get there in a minute,” Noelle giggled in the back seat.
“You guys know too?” Ella looked from her son to her daughter and back again. “Liam?”
“Just relax, love, we’ll be there soon,” he squeezed her hand and laughed as her nose wrinkled in annoyance.
A few minutes later, Bastien turned into a small, private area for vehicles to park. “We’re here,” he said and turned to smirk at Ella. “Your Majesty, we’re going to blindfold you.”
“You’re … what?!”
Isaiah cackled as he leaned forward to wrap a scarf around his mother’s eyes.
“That’s blocking my nose,” Ella complained. “I can’t breathe.”
“You can breathe out of your mouth.”
“Isaiah Alexander,” she said sternly and he jumped.
“Sorry mom,” he mumbled as he fixed the scarf so it only covered her eyes.
“Okay,” Liam opened the door to her side of the SUV. “Come on, love, I’m carrying you to our destination.”
Ella let out a long sigh and reached up to feel her husband’s neck. She allowed him to carry her bridal style to … wherever they were going. When her family got like this it was usually because of her husband, who loved to take her places to surprise her. She didn’t mind, honestly, but it was annoying when everyone was in on it except for her.
“We’re almost there, love, I promise,” she felt Liam kiss the top of her head and she snuggled into his shoulder.
“Hey, I got a picture from Uncle Max!” Noelle opened the message and gasped.
Isaiah reached for his sister’s phone. “Is it another picture of him and his peacock Lady and the Tramping some spaghetti?”
Everyone began to laugh.
“I can’t believe that damn thing didn’t peck his eye out,” Ella snorted.
“That thing still scares the crap out of me,” Noelle said as her fingers flew over the keys.
“We’re here,” Liam smiled as he began to step down onto the large rocks towards the private beach.
“Don’t drop me, Liam,” Ella said as she lifted her nose to the air. “I smell the ocean.” She felt her husband lower her to the ground. “What now? I’m still wearing this.”
A moment of silence and some giggling in the distance made Ella furrow her brows.
“Okay, take off the scarf, love.”
Ella quickly undid the knot and opened her eyes; she faced the ocean. “Liam, what-”
“Turn around.”
As she did, she saw her husband on one knee, her children behind him in the distance carrying an old 1989 boombox, the song My Person by Spencer Crandall playing.
I was lookin' for a long time
I never found nobody like you
I got your name, got your number
And we talked 'til they turned on the lights
“A boombox?”
Liam smirked. “You made me watch Sixteen Candles.”
“Oh yeah,” she chuckled. “Liam,” Ella had tears streaming down her face and she wiped them away quickly. “Wh-what is this?”
He took hold of her free hand and ran his thumb over her knuckles. “Love, it’s our fifteenth wedding anniversary. We married that long ago.”
She nodded, the lump on her throat making it difficult for her to speak.
“But we were together before that,” he smiled up at her. “I met you and I was done for, I haven't looked at anyone else since. You came to my social season, I chose you, we were engaged for a year, and then here we are.”
My person
My heartbeat
My slow dance
My Sunday-morning-sippin'-on-coffee in bed
My know-when-you-know best friend
“You’re my person,” Liam bit his bottom lip to control his emotions. “You and the kids are my everything, and you know I’d give all this up for you if you asked.”
“We don’t want that though!” Noelle yelled and they all laughed.
“Ella Brooks Rys, I wanted to ask you if you would remarry me,” he reached into his pocket, pulled out a black velvet box, and opened it. “Renew our vows and our commitment to each other.”
The box held three rings, an emerald-shaped, 6-carat diamond solitaire in the middle, and one plain platinum band on each side of it. One was engraved with Isaiah Alexander and the other with Noelle Marie.
“Of course,” Ella choked out as Liam smiled and the kids jumped up and down.
My saving grace, my everything
I’ve never been more sure that you’re my person
Every minute is a long time
If I ain’t holding on to you
Liam pushed all three rings onto her finger. “You ready, Mrs. Rys?”
“I am, Mr. Rys,” she pulled her husband to her and captured his lips in a passionate kiss.
“Ew, gross!” “Stop! This is not part of the plan!”
“Congratulations!”
Ella was surprised by that last one and turned towards the sound. All of their friends and family were there on the beach, smiling at them.
“What are-”
“You guys are renewing your vows!” Leo hollered and lifted a bottle of champagne in the air. “Let’s get this going so we can get druuuunk!”
“Leo!” Liam snapped at his brother.
“I mean, I’m ready when you are.”
Hana and Olivia rushed towards Ella and hugged her. “Were you surprised?”
“I was,” Ella sniffled. “You guys all knew?”
“Yup!”
“My little blossom! You are so beautiful! Let me see the rings!”
Ella gave Max her left hand.
“Whatever you do, don’t let Beaumont touch it. I’m sure he’s got lasagna all under his fingernails,” Drake chuckled as he approached the group.
“Hey marshmallow,” Ella turned to hug him. “And you guys had lasagna without me?”
Liam laughed and put an arm around Noelle and Isaiah. “You guys ready?”
They both nodded.
“I’m ready to marry your mother again,” they all laughed as Ella put her arm around Isaiah. “Let’s go!”
My saving grace, my everything
I've never been more sure that you're my person
Yeah, baby, you're my person

Notes:
I suck so bad. I meant to post these before I left to go on my little trip and life got hella busy. But, I didn't get around to it. BUT BUT.. I am now. They're not really that edited, so yeah. I was happy with what came out, despite this turning out to not be a slow burn type thing at all like I originally wanted. So for all those hoping for a slow burn, oopsies?
OH.. And before I forget, chapters one, two, three and potentially four take place BEFORE the actual series starts. ;P
Summary:
She moves back to Hawkins and manages to turn his life completely upside down. In the best of ways.
But how will everything play out between them? Also, can they handle all the weirdness ahead? We shall see.
Warnings:
LOOSE CANON COMPLIANCE AT BEST, TOTAL DEVIATION AT WORST - this is just an up front catch all because sometimes, things happen that I don’t particularly care for (the senseless death of Barb, anybody?) and if you’re one of those canon only people, this is here to warn you that this is not the fic for you. LANGUAGE, OCCASIONAL GORE, MONSTERS / FANTASY ELEMENTS, TEENAGE DRAMA AND SHENANIGANS - Obviously, teenagers are going to do stuff. They’re at that point in their life where not every decision they make is the best one. So if you’d rather skip over this kind of thing (teen drinking, fighting, etc) then yeah.. you’ve been warned. THIS IS NOT A SLOW BURN, I REPEAT NOT SLOW AT ALL / EVENTUAL FILTHY GOOD NESS - because lets be real.. we’re all wondering when we’re gonna drop the plot and get to the good stuff. When this chapter occurs, I will flair it with an M. In the meantime, if you’re not into slow burn or mutual pining, then you’re probably not going to care about this.

TWO.
Monday came with no sign of Steve. Then Tuesday. By Wednesday, I felt like I was about to lose my mind. Still no sign of him.
It was now Thursday afternoon. And honestly, I’d put the whole thing out of my head. Started to convince myself that I’d been right about Steve Harrington and his intentions after all. Nana Ginger had gotten Jonathan to come and help out by bussing tables in the dining area for an hour or two so I could go over the books for her with no interruptions. When I caught sight of Steve’s silver BMW pulling into the parking lot, I was perched atop the counter in the gas station doing just that.
With Billy Idol blasting quietly from a little boombox nearby.
I raised a brow when instead of coming in like usual, Steve wandered around back. Out to where Nana's boyfriend Hank was working in bay 3 of the garage behind the place.
“Oh. Oh no. Steve, why the hell…” I muttered to myself. Sitting the ledger to the side as I tiptoed carefully to the door that lead out into the garage from the front of the buildings attached. I pressed my ear against it, trying to listen.
All I could really make out was Hank laughing out loud. And Steve asking what was so funny about what he’d apparently asked. Then Hank telling him verbatim, that he didn’t know if he could trust him as far as he could throw him while pointing out that he’d been a teenage boy once too and that he knew exactly where this was all heading.
My breath caught in my throat. I waited on Steve to offer some form of rebuttal. Seconds later, he finally did. “ You’re actually completely wrong about me, sir. With all due respect.”
“If you can get her to say yes to a date in the first place, kid, by all means. But if you hurt her, you’re not gonna have anywhere to hide. We clear, kid?” Hank said this as loud and as plain as day. Clearly enough I could hear it completely through the door separating the two areas.
Steve muttered something else I couldn’t quite hear and in a mad scramble that had Jonathan nearly doubling over in laughter, I was trying to perch myself back on top of the counter at the front of the gas station. Balancing the ledger on my lap. Trying to force myself to concentrate on running numbers.
My reading glasses started to slip down the bridge of my nose and swearing, I pushed them back up. Eventually taking them off to unfocus my eyes and give them a little relief from strain. Jonathan spoke up from nearby.
“Hear anything interesting just now, Jen?” he gave me a teasing smirk and I grumbled, playfully flipping him off as I gave a soft smile. I nodded. “Yeah. I guess I have to at least consider saying yes to Harrington’s constant asking me out. I mean… takes a brave guy to talk to Hank.”
“You’re definitely not wrong there.” Jonathan muttered, chuckling quietly. Digging around in the pocket of his apron and tossing me a cassette tape. Smirking. “I made it during the countdown last night.”
“Oh?” I turned the cassette over in my hands, smiling. “I’ll put it in right now, give it a listen while I’m doing the rest of the books. Hey, do you need somebody to give Will a lift to Mike’s on Saturday?”
“If you don’t mind?” Jonathan asked.
“Not at all.” I grinned, adding quickly, “I’m supposed to drop Dustin Henderson off there too. Figured since they’re going to the same place and I’m gonna hang out with Nancy for a while, why not?”
“Thank you.” Jonathan gave a grateful smile and an idea kind of formed. I smiled and mentioned casually, “Ya know, Jon.. If you really want to thank me.. You could talk to Nancy sometime.”
Jonathan eyed me with a raised brow. I held out his mixtape and added, “She loves The Clash.”
“Really?” his brow raised.
“Just take my word for it, Byers.”
“ You’re sure you don’t mind me giving her this?”
“Why would I? I told you to, silly.” I laughed, shaking my head. Jonathan was being called to the back dining area again by my Nana, so he hurried off and I stood, stretching. Slinking down the aisles of the gas station, over to a cooler.
I grabbed myself a Diet Pepsi and dug around in my pocket for the money to put in the register to cover it. Once I’d popped the top against the counter, I settled back on top of it, getting back to balancing the books.
I heard a throat clearing from the doors about ten minutes later. The smell of cheeseburger and french fries wafted straight to my nose, making me groan quietly as my eyes fixed on Steve and then promptly lowered to the grease stained brown paper bag he held in his hands as he grinned at me, nodding to the glasses perched on my nose.
“Fuck.” I scrambled to take them off. Steve stepped into the gas station completely, walking towards me. A teasing gleam in his eyes as he shook his head. Stopping on the other side of the counter, in front of me. “You don’t have to do that, Jennie. I’ve seen you wearing glasses before, remember? The red framed ones you had in kindergarten.”
I cringed, laughing a little. Leaning in slightly. Gazing at him almost helplessly as the bits of conversation I’d overheard between him and Hank out in the garage earlier replaying in my head.
Remembering that tonight, if he asked me on a date yet again, I was going to say yes. And not just because of some silly dare given to me by Barb and Nancy. Because I couldn’t keep fighting Steve Harrington off the way I had been if I wanted to, to begin with.
I was leaning closer where I sat. It occurred to me when Steve chuckled quietly. Stepping between my legs, the way they dangled over the counter on his side. He sat the grease stained paper bag to the side and he bit his lip, gazing up at me.
“Your grandma told me to come and drag you out of here. She told me to tell you not to worry about waiting the tables, she’s trying to help Jonathan get some extra cash on the side. She also said don’t argue.” Steve flashed me another one of those charmer grins and I swallowed hard. My mouth opened and closed for a second or two because I just couldn’t think of anything clever to say. Weird, because normally, I have plenty to say. Constantly.
Out of habit, my fingers drifted up to the dainty cursive nameplate that hung on the silver chain around my neck. I toyed with the lettering as I pretended to mull it over, just to be slightly difficult.
So I could feel better about giving in when I inevitably did.
“C’mon, Jennie.” Steve pleaded. Eyes locked on mine. Gaze dropping briefly to my lips and lingering there just long enough that I could feel my breath when it caught in my throat.
I finally managed to get my mouth and brain working in tandem and licking my lips as I gazed at him, I muttered quietly, “It’s Jen.”
“Maybe I like Jennie better.” Steve leaned in just a little. A teasing gleam in his eye and a flirty tone to his voice as it dropped lower. Quieter.
And when Hank’s throat cleared from the door between the garage and the front of the building, I wanted to puddle into a pile of goo in the linoleum tile.
“Interruptin somethin, Jaybird?” he asked the question so casually.
Steve looked like a deer in headlights. He pulled away just a little and despite myself, I pouted.
Satisfied that he’d interrupted things between Steve and I, Hank smirked a little, dragging an oil stained hand over shaggy brown and gray hair. Gazing at us both. Giving Steve that universal gesture that clearly spelled out “I’m watching you, kid.” before going to a cooler to grab himself a six pack of beer, counting out the correct change in bills and coins and handing them to me.
I grabbed hold of Hank’s hand. “Nana is gonna have a fit. I know that’s not super glue I see holdin skin together, sir.”
“It is, Jaybird. Because if I don’t get that damned Chrysler off my lift, I’m gonna burn her to the ground.”
“Oh Hank.” I shook my head, clucking my tongue at him. Digging around for antiseptic and a bandage, holding it out to him expectantly as he withdrew his hand. He chuckled and shook his head. “It’ll be fine, kid.” he waved away the antiseptic and the bandage and made his way into the garage area again, making me shake my head.
Taking the time to pull myself together decently enough that I wasn’t a stammering mess when I glanced at Steve again.
“C’mon. Please?” he asked again.
I tapped my chin, pretending to think about it. Slipping off the counter. By this time, he’d stepped in close all over again, so me slipping off the counter had us body to body. His hand settled in the curve of my hip and I barely restrained a gasp.
“Okay. Alright. I’ll leave with you.”
He grinned brightly. Holding the door open for me after I clocked out and placed my timecard in the slot with my name on it. I ducked my head into the dining area and my Nana’s only response was to smirk and wink at me. Shooing me out of the diner.
“Get her outta my hair, kid!” my Nana smiled as she called out to Steve, who was standing right behind me. His hand at my lower back. The second I realized this, I could feel myself burning up all over. Just the simplest touch.. Felt comforting. Intimate. And me, being of dirty mind, well.. Me and my dirty mind, we took that and ran.
Jesus Christ, of all the times for my hormones to manifest, it’s now? When I’m trying to break 2 prior generations of questionable romantic choices? I wanted to shake my head at myself. I reminded myself calmly that just because my Nana and my mom did the things they did, that didn’t mean I had to cave in and repeat. I am my own person, after all. And apparently right now, that person is giddy with… Thoughts.
“Gladly, ma’am!” Steve called back, laughing.
He pushed open the door and we stepped outside. When he opened the passenger door, I sank down into the seat, leaning back against it a little. Steve wandered around to the driver side, getting into the car. Starting it.
“Where are you taking me?”
He chuckled. “ I think you’ll like it.”
“Steve.” I pouted, “A hint?”
“It’s outside.” was literally all he’d tell me.
“Well that really narrows it down.” I teased with a laugh.
He parked at this old park we all used to play at after school. Just as the sun was starting to go down.
We got out, wandering over to an old picnic table. Sitting on top of it, digging around in the bag for our food.
“So.. That dumb carnival is this weekend. Starts tomorrow night, I think.” Steve hinted after a few minutes. I nodded to where carnival workers were already setting up a midway a few feet away from us. Taking a bite of my burger, I mentioned casually, “I thought about going. But Nancy’s grounded again and Barb’s got that date with some guy Logan.”
“You could go with me.” Steve chuckled as he said it.
I smiled, taking another bite. “I could.”
“Would you?” he asked a few seconds later. Adding quickly, “Tonight isn’t a real date. Tomorrow. That would be.” flashing me that charmer smirk.
I nodded. Smiling as I spoke up. “ Yeah. I will. Hey… since I don’t have to go back to the diner…” before trailing off and gazing down at my legs . Reminding myself to have boundaries and restraint. But all the mental reminders in the world just weren’t cutting it. At all.
He reached out, curling his fingers beneath my chin. Making me look up at him. “What were you going to say, Jennie? You can tell me.” he coaxed. Biting his lip as he gazed at me intently.
“I was going to ask if you wanted to go swimming with me. There’s this little place out by my Nana’s out in the woods I go to swim…” I gave a soft laugh. I had to laugh at myself, it was pretty much all I could do.
Look at me. Going overboard.
“Yeah.” he nodded, smiling. We finished our food, and after, we wound up driving around a little. And about an hour later found us walking through the woods. Well, he was walking, glancing around warily, swatting at spider webs that he almost walked into a time or two and I had hold of his hand, practically dragging the poor guy.
We stepped out onto the sandy bank and he chuckled. Dragging his hand through his hair as he gazed down at me. “We don’t have suits or towels.” he mused, stepping closer to me. Staring me down all over again. I could feel my breath as it caught in my throat because if you want me to be honest?
I hadn’t thought this through properly. And was now freaking out silently. Just a little bit.
But I did my best to shove that out of my head and play it cool and calm. I went for turning it around on him, hoping to fluster him like his observation had flustered me just now.
“I know Mr. Lady Killer’s not worried about somebody seeing him in his Calvins.” I teased, sticking my tongue out at him. He chuckled. Going for his shirt, tugging it over his head. Letting it settle on a branch nearby without tearing his eyes off me for a single second as he did it.
“Did that look worried to you, Jennie?” he muttered, stepping closer. His hand at my hip as he gazed down at me. Waiting.
I cleared my throat, gesturing for him to turn around. He did, but as he did so, he joked that I was the one who was worried. Which to me, sounded like a challenge. So I tapped his shoulder so he’d turn around after lowering my shirt.
He eyed me, a brow raised.
“Challenging me, Steve?” I questioned, giving him an amused laugh as I reached down, tugging my shirt up and over my head. Letting it settle on the branch next to his polo shirt.
Steve sucked in a sharp breath and muttered something to himself, closing the distance between us. His hand settled on my hip again and he laughed quietly. Leaning down a little bit so that we were face to face, his forehead against mine and one of his hands cradling my face.
My heart was pounding. Hard and fast. So fast that I thought it might break out of my chest. I went to lick my own lips and my tongue brushed against his mouth. His fingers dug into my hip lightly and he muttered huskily, “ I see you still can’t turn down a dare, Jennie.” only half teasing. I shrugged, biting my lip as I gazed up at him. Trailing my fingers over his chest mostly just so I could ignore the way my hands were shaking and I was wet, getting wetter by the second. I glanced over my shoulder and nodded at the water. “If we’re going to swim, we should get in.”
Steve cleared his throat, nodding hastily. Stepping away, bending to tug off his sneakers and nearly tumbling over in the process. Making me giggle softly as I pulled off my boots. When my pocketknife and my mom’s old lighter fell out, he eyed me and then nodded to the items on the ground.
“A knife?”
“A girl’s gotta be prepared.” I shrugged it off. Steve tugged down his jeans and while I told myself I wasn’t going to peek or stare, I wound up failing at this miserably and got so distracted watching him that he was able to turn around my own words on me as soon as he kicked his jeans free at the ankle.
“If we’re going to swim, Jennie… we should get in.” he gave me a playful smirk as he said it, stepping closer all over again.
My hand shook as I lowered it to the button on my cut offs. As soon as I’d shed those, I took off for the water full speed. Nearly tripping on a stump in the hill leading down to the water. Steve’s arms shot out and he caught me, pulling me back upright. Pulling me hard enough that when he did, I found myself pressed against him completely.
He chuckled quietly, raising a hand. Pulling a leaf free from my hair.
“The water’s not going anywhere, Jennie.”
“I know.” I answered, my breath catching in my throat when our mouths brushed against each other’s just a little more with each word spoken. His fingers dug into my hip a little more and he took a shaky breath, asking the question quietly, “If I kissed you right now…”
My heart was hammering away in my chest but I managed to answer, “I dare you, Steve...No… I triple dare you.”. The hand he’d placed on my hip was tangled in the hair at the back of my head, pulling my mouth all the way against his mouth. His tongue swept out, outlining and then parting my lips. Massaging my tongue. Slow. Deep. Savoring the moment, even after we both clearly started to get light-headed from lack of actual oxygen. His hand moved up and down my body, settling on my lower back. Pulling me up to tiptoe slightly. The kiss broke long enough for both of us to properly breathe and then his mouth found mine again.
When it finally broke completely, Steve dragged the back of his hand over his mouth. Taking a few deep breaths. “Yeah.” he chuckled to himself.
I raised a brow. “Hm?”
“That was exactly how I thought it’d feel.” he mused, adding quietly, “Wow.”
My stomach churned and I tensed up a little. He chuckled, shaking his head. Placing his lips against my forehead. “It’s not a bad thing. Not at all. I mean.. It wasn’t for me?” he was the one who looked anxious now.
I muttered quietly, “ I definitely wouldn’t mind a repeat. A few repeats, actually, if I’m being honest.” while still quietly reeling from the intensity of it all. Melting myself against him, my fingers dancing slow over his chest. He sucked in a breath, catching hold of my hand. Tilting my chin so that I had to look up at him.
“You’re blushing.” Steve was teasing gently. Rolling his thumb over my bottom lip, leaving it quivering.
“I’m not!” I pretended to be offended by what he said, pouting a little. But I knew I was, I could feel my cheeks burning hot. I stepped away and turned my back, taking off at a run down the hill. Hitting the cool water with a loud and obnoxious splash. Steve dove in behind me, swimming over. Surfacing behind me and pressing against me from behind. I turned to face him and when he splashed me and dove out of the way, I sent up an obnoxious spray of water in his direction, making him yelp because he hadn’t been expecting it.
After about an hour of swimming around and walking the creek down further, we made our way back up to the bank, flopping onto the sand.
My restraint was well out the window by now. If I even thought for a second I was going to fight off the magnetic pull I felt to Steve, I was mistaken and I knew that now. I settled my head on his shoulder and he looped an arm around me, and we lounged around lazily, watching the sky get darker and darker.
Talking. A lot.
I realized that it had to be getting late and I sprang up, holding out my hand. Steve grabbed hold, pulling himself up. After we’d gotten redressed, we wandered up the hill and out of the woods, over to where he’d parked his car at the end of my nana’s driveway..
When he went to walk me up to my front door, we wound up body to body. My arms raised, settling around his neck. My back met the front door and he pulled me into another long and drawn out deep kiss that had us both breathless when it broke.
“Kind of don’t want tonight to end.” he admitted as he gazed down at me. I nodded, definitely agreeing. “Me either.” I admitted quietly, muttering the words against his lips. The porch light started to flicker like crazy and I smiled into the kiss, wiping my mouth as I finally managed to pull away.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, right?” Steve asked, reminding me that I’d agreed to go to the carnival in town with him. I smiled and nodded. Pausing in the doorway of my grandmother’s house to steal another quick kiss before finally making myself go inside.
I leaned against the door, pulling myself together and my Nana called out from the kitchen, “Well? How did it go, Jennie Bird?”
I wandered into the kitchen, sinking down in a chair at her kitchen table. Smirking at her as all I did to answer her endless stream of questions was to shrug.
“You’re no fun, girl. No fun at all. I wanted to hear juicy details.” my nana reached out, pulling a leaf from my wet hair, holding it at me, smirking as she did so. “Any reason you’re all wet and dazed, bringing half the forest up in my house?”
“We went for a swim down at the creek.”
“Mhm.” my nana teased, laughing softly. “I know you’ll use your head. God knows one of us Brown women needs to, neither me or your mama, god rest her, could ever manage it.” she nodded to the phone on the wall by the doorway. “Might wanna call Nan and Barb. They’ve been calling all afternoon, wondering where you were. They both told me tell you they wanted full details.”
“No listening from upstairs, Nana.” I teased as she shrugged. “Makin no promises, Jennie Bird. You know me. I’m a nosy old broad.”
I grabbed the phone and managed to make the cord stretch to the living room, where I sprawled out on the old couch, legs over the back, telling Nancy and then Barb everything that happened that afternoon.
At one point, while I was talking to Nancy, I smiled to myself when she went into a good ten minutes of gushing over Jonathan walking her home from the library earlier. And giving her a mixed tape.
To be fair, it’s about time he finally talked to her. I was beginning to wonder if I’d have to shove them both in a closet and walk away.
“So… how’d it go with you and Steve tonight?”
“So many sparks.” I gave a dreamy sigh as I spoke, making Nancy laugh. Toying with the necklace and smiling softly to myself as I continued, “ Between you and me? I needed the dip in the cold water…”
“You went swimming?”
“Mhm.” I answered, taking a deep breath. “He’s taking me to the carnival downtown tomorrow night.”
“Oh my god. Get out. Really?” Nancy laughed.
I rolled onto my stomach, twisting the phone cord around my fingertip. Laughing softly as I explained exactly what transpired when Steve showed up at the diner earlier. By the end of it, Nancy let out a low whistle. “He really sacrificed himself to Hank.”
“Mhm. Left me with no option but to say yes. We know how my nana’s boyfriend is. It takes… a brave one to even attempt that.”
“Confession… I may or may not be meeting Jonathan at the carnival tomorrow night too. And Barb mentioned earlier that she’s going to come to it after the movie ends over at the theater, with Logan.”
“Group date?” I asked, giving a giggle. Raking my fingers through my hair as I reached for the Diet Tab I’d gotten myself before grabbing the phone, taking a sip of it.
“Yes. Group date indeed.” Nancy answered. I could hear her mother yelling at her to hang up, and I let her go, calling Barb.
“Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, you are not going to believe what happened to me this afternoon, Barb.”
“Your nana told us you left with Steve earlier. How’d that go?” Barb asked in a teasing tone. “I told you he liked you, you realize this, right?” she added.
“All I’m saying is I needed that swim to cool me down. I needed it badly.” I giggled. Agreeing reluctantly when she reminded me that she’d been telling me he liked me all month long. I rolled onto my back, twisting the cord around my fingers again. “Hey, are you and Logan gonna stop by the carnival after your movie?”
“Yeah! Did Nancy tell you? I told her to tell you so we could all meet up or something.”
“I am dying for funnel cake. And maybe getting stuck at the top of the Ferris Wheel like some cliche romance novel…” I muttered, giving a soft laugh at the end.
“Aww how cute!” Barb teased.
I took a few more sips of my diet Tab and smiled to myself. Excited about tomorrow night. Barb spoke up again, “Wait… you said you and Steve went swimming…”
“We did.”
“What was that like?”
“Oh, it was interesting. Very, very interesting.”
“You’re no fun girl!” my Nana’s voice cut through the call and I groaned inwardly, lowering the phone to call up the stairs to my Nana in her room, “Seriously?”
Barb was laughing. After my nana hung up, we talked a little more and I told her about Steve going out to the garage. WIth all the tools. And my nana’s boyfriend Hank… to ask him if he could take me on a date.
“He did? And he’s alive? How?”
“I don’t know, actually. Hank’s always giving him shit when he comes into the diner, I did not see it going the way it did. But.. I’m glad it did. Ah, I had such a good time tonight.”
“He’d better be good to you or I’m coming for his knee caps.” Barb teased, going quiet for a few seconds. Her mom must have come to her door to tell her she needed to use the phone, because she had to get off. After I ended the call with her, I wandered up to my room, falling across my bed.

Arcade Dreams: Chapter Twenty Two
Summary: There’s a new girl working at the Palace Arcade and Hawkins’ Family Video. Billy can’t stand her, and the feeling is mutual. No matter what everyone else seems to think.
Pairing: Billy Hargrove/OFC
A/N: Writer’s block is a very weird thing, my dudes. I had about half of this chapter written in like an hour and then I just could NOT finish it. But it’s here now! We’re getting closer and closer to the nightmare that is the Mind Flayer. Who else is excited?
By the time Teddi, El and Max made it back to the apartment, the two girls had filled Teddi in on everything from Demogorgons, to secret government labs, to alternate dimensions out in the woods. Teddi had been uncharacteristically quiet through all of it.
“So you’re saying...that El has magic, psychic powers and that monsters from Dungeons and Dragons, a board game, kidnapped Will and possessed him?” she asked finally after she’d spent nearly three entire minutes starting quietly at Max and El.
“I mean, that’s the short version…” Max muttered. “Everything got quiet right when you moved here. We got rid of the Mind Flayer and things went back to normal...for the most part.”
Teddi’s eyebrows came together in a confused frown. “...Are you two messing with me right now? How long did it take you to come up with all of this? I gotta say, it’s pretty impressive,” she laughed. “You like actually had me there for a second-”
Max looked over at El and shot her a look that Teddi was familiar with. It was like they were judging someone without speaking a word. El shifted in her seat a little, turning towards the TV and taking in a deep breath. Teddi opened her mouth to ask what she was doing, the sound cut off with a gasp as the TV came to life. Teddi jumped, falling further back against the couch. “...H-how…?” she asked with wide eyes. The TV shut off again.
El wasn’t finished yet. The stack of magazines on the coffee table in front of them rose up into the air, each issue shuffling together before landing back on the table in a neat stack. Teddi’s mouth was hanging open as she stared down hard at the magazines. “...Holy shit,” she breathed out. The two girls watched carefully as she stood up, moving around the couch and to the fridge. She grabbed one of Billy’s beers, popping the tab and taking a long swig. “Holy shit.”
“You sound like Steve.” Max joked, she and El letting out small laughs.
Teddi wiped the foam from her lips with the back of her hand, letting out a loud scoff. “Wait, what? Steve knows about all of this and I don’t? Steve Harrington?”
“He helped Nancy and Johnathan catch the Demogorgon when Will went missing,” Max explained. “Then he helped us destroy the Demodog nest last year.”
“Nancy and Jonathan know? Am I the only person around here that doesn’t know about all of this?” Teddi asked, crossing her arms tightly across her chest.
“Billy doesn’t know.” El assured her.
“Yeah, I stabbed him in the neck with tranquilizers when he tried to kill Steve at the Byers’ place.” Max said with a proud look.
“What?!” Teddi blanched.
Max rolled her eyes. “We have other things we should be focusing on right now. Like finding Billy and figuring out what he’s up to.”
Teddi had no idea how she was supposed to focus on whatever it was that Billy was doing now. She had suddenly stumbled into a fantasy world that was straight out of the books she loved to read. How could she possibly worry about boys when there might be monsters running around Hawkins?
“You know...when you said El could find Billy, I thought you were gonna just suggest we star 69 the last number that called.” Teddi finally said.
El and Max gave each other another look. “...This way’s more fun.” El finally said.
Teddi couldn’t argue there. “Well what do we do? How does this work? I was kidding earlier about the ouija board but I totally have one in my closet-”
El laughed, shaking her head. “I need a radio. And a blindfold.”
Teddi didn’t need to hear anymore. She hurried off to Billy’s room, grabbing his boombox and yanking the cord from the wall. There was a brief moment when she thought that she could probably find something Billy had used as a blindfold at some point, but shuddered at the thought. Instead she grabbed a pink bandana from her room, bringing the radio and the blindfold back out to the tiny living room.
El sat with her back to the TV. She tied the bandana around her eyes while Max plugged the stereo in and set it next to her. El had done this a handful of times before with Max. They liked to spy on the boys whenever they got bored. It was simple enough, but El had to admit she was sort of dreading what she might see once she found Billy.
El couldn’t see Teddi, but she could practically feel her nervous, jittery energy from the couch. “So how does this work? Is it like telekinetic powers or something? Like Jean Grey?” Teddi asked, her words were quick and almost jumbled together.
“Teddi,” Max laughed. “You have to be quiet.”
Teddi mumbled out a sorry, the room growing quiet. El sat up straight, taking in a deep breath. Nothing happened at first. El let the breath she’d been holding in out slowly. There was a low hum of electricity that filled the tiny apartment. The tips of El’s fingers felt tingly, like she had shocked herself. The feeling travelled up her arms, the lights flickering around them as the room almost groaned under the weight of her powers.
“Your nose!” Teddi breathed out. El could hear her get up from her seat, ready to wipe away the small trail out blood that was probably running down El’s nose. She never really felt it when it happened anymore.
“It’s fine. It happens when she uses her powers sometimes.” Max explained.
“Guys.” El mumbled.
“..Sorry.” Teddi and Max said. Eventually El found Billy. She always found it harder to find Billy than it was Mike or any of the boys or even Teddi. She didn’t know why. Sometimes she felt like somehow he knew she was watching him and was trying to push her away. It didn’t feel like that now at least. El almost immediately felt guilty for prying.
“I see him,” El finally said. Max perked up, Teddi leaning forwards against the coffee table. El frowned as Billy’s surroundings started to slowly appear around him. There were shelves of books around him. And a pretty girl. She was smiling up at him. “He’s...there’s books.” she said with a slight frown.
Teddi raised an eyebrow. “Books? Yeah right. Is it possible for her powers to be broken?” she asked. Max let out a snort. El didn’t answer.
“There’s a girl,” El mumbled. She leaned forward to get a better look at the name tag she was wearing. “...Mckenna?”
“Who the fuck’s Mckenna?”
“Max,” Teddi said sternly. There was a long pause before Teddi finally spoke again. “...It’s gotta be Mckenna Prescott. She went to school with us. I’m pretty sure she works at the bookstore at the mall. But Mckenna’s nice. I mean, I thought she was…” Teddi said with a frown.
El watched Billy flash a charming smile down at Mckenna. He leaned against one of the shelves casually, tucking a hand in one of his pockets. “I really appreciate this, Mckenna. You’re a lifesaver.” he said cooly.
Mckenna giggled, giving her chocolatey hair a dramatic shake. “It’s no problem, Billy,” El hated how she said his name. She let out a small ‘blech’ sound. “I think it’s in the back room. Follow me.”
Billy, Mckenna and the bookshelves started to slowly fade away like a cloud of smoke as the two walked off. El frowned hard at what she had just seen. Was it suspicious? Definitely. Did it make any sense? Not even close. She pulled the bandana off, her eyes immediately falling on Teddi.
Teddi looked almost scared. Like she was waiting for El to tell her something horrible. It sounded horrible. El wanted to believe that there was something about this that she was missing. Something that would prove that Billy wasn’t the guy that everyone thought he was.
“...That’s all I could see,” El finally lied. “He’s too far, I think.”
Max and Teddi both noticeably deflated. “Well should we go to the mall?” Max asked, her head whipping over towards Teddi.
Teddi had settled back into that unusual silence. She watched El, like she knew she was lying and was waiting for her to crack. Hop gave her that look sometimes too. It never made her feel as guilty as it was now. Eventually Teddi shook her head. “No. That’s...no. I’m sure it’s fine, right? We’re just being paranoid,” it was obvious she was trying to convince herself as well as Max. “Let’s just watch some movies and forget all about Billy. We can order pizza.”
It was like El blinked and Teddi was suddenly back to normal. Her bright, cheery smile was back and she was holding her shoulders up high. El wondered how often Teddi kept that facade up. How often she was genuinely smiling rather than convincing everyone she was.
Teddi downed the rest of the beer, pushing herself up off the floor and heading over to the phone to order the pizza. Max shot El a look. “...What?” El asked, a defensive frown on her face.
Max narrowed her eyes at her best friend. “...Did you see something else?”
El’s eyes flickered instinctively towards Teddi. She paused for a moment before shaking her head. “No. Nothing.” she lied.
---
It was late. Billy’s hands gripped tightly at the steering wheel as he pressed down on the gas a little harder. He felt like shit for skipping out on the party and lying to Teddi. But adding on the fact that it was pushing midnight and he had just driven two towns over made him dread going back home and trying to explain himself.
His eyes flickered over to the brown paper bag sitting in the seat beside him. He’d been searching for the perfect gift for Teddi for almost a month. About a week ago he’d driven out to Star Court while Teddi was at work and asked Mckenna if she could help him get his hands on it. Billy didn’t know her very well. They’d had maybe one class together in high school, but like most girls in Hawkins, Mckenna had a thing for Billy and was more than willing to help him out. So he flirted with her a little to get what he wanted. It was harmless. He definitely wouldn’t be telling Teddi about it, but it was totally harmless.
After he’d shown up to the mall, Mckenna had started talking his ear off about what she’d been up to in the month since they’d graduated. Billy had done his best to pretend to care. She was doing him a favor after all. But after he realized he’d been standing in the bookstore for over half an hour, he decided to give her a little push. A lot of good that had done.
“Oh god. I think Josh must’ve sold it. I told him like nine million times I was holding it for you!” she’d said when she had all but dragged him to the back room. So Billy had to wait for Mckenna to call what felt like every bookstore in all of Indiana until she found one that had what he was looking for. Of course the store was over an hour away.
Billy parked the Camaro next to Teddi’s van. The lights were still on in the apartment. Billy let out a frustrated huff, grabbing the brown paper bag and heading up to the apartment. The girls were all asleep. Teddi was sprawled out on the couch with Max tucked against her side. El was curled up in a makeshift fort they’d built with Teddi’s sleeping bag and Billy’s comforter. The TV was still on. Billy assumed from the bright blue screen that they’d fallen asleep in the middle of a movie. There were soda and beer cans and a box of half eaten pizza littering the coffee table.
“...Billy?” it was El. She leaned up on her elbows, rubbing the sleep from her eyes as she blinked up at him.
Billy dropped his keys onto the kitchen counter along with the brown paper bag. He shifted awkwardly. “Hey...sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you up.”
El shook her head. “Had to pee...where were you?”
If Billy imagined El, Max and Teddi sitting around the cabin with the boys probably playing dungeons and dorks, he would be glad that he missed her birthday. But looking at El, with those big, sad brown eyes of hers made him remember how sad Teddi had looked when she was talking about her own birthday. Had Billy wanted to spend the night with her alone? Of course. But Teddi wanted to spend her birthday with him, El and Max. Her family. He hated himself.
Billy looked down at Teddi. She was sound asleep, snoring a little into Max’s hair. He tentatively reached out for the brown paper bag, moving around the couch and kneeling down in front of El. She was wearing that god awful necklace Teddi had found. Billy felt his lips twitch in a small grin. “I uh...I was getting this. For Teddi. It’s a secret though.” he held the bag out to her.
El frowned a little, leaning forwards to peek inside. She mouthed the words on the cover to herself as she read it before smiling up at him. “For her birthday.” it wasn’t a question.
“Yeah. Kinda had to go on a hunt for it...sorry I missed your party.”
“It’s fine. We brought cake home for you. It’s in the fridge.” she said, pulling her knees to her chest.
Billy let out a small laugh, reaching forward to ruffle her hair. “Thanks, Punky.”
El raised an eyebrow. “What’s Punky?”
“Y’know...Punky Brewster. It’s a show. Jesus, what’s Teddi teaching you kids?” he looked over his shoulder to where Teddi was sleeping on the couch. He briefly looked at the beer cans on the table before looking back at El. “She get drunk?”
“A little,” El confessed. “Not too bad…”
“She mad at me?”
“More sad...she thinks you’re with other girls.”
Billy felt a jolt of guilt through his chest. “Yeah, I was worried she might think that…” he sighed. “Get some sleep, kid. We can all go out tomorrow, make up for me missing the party, okay? Whatever you want.”
El eyed him carefully. “...Promise?”
“Have I ever broken a promise?” he asked. El shot him a look. Billy let out a small, dry laugh, rolling his eyes lazily. “...Okay, fine. I promise.”
El smiled up at him, nodding before getting up and hurrying off to the bathroom. Billy stood, running a hand through his hair and letting out a sigh. Carefully he leaned over Max, easily scooping Teddi up into his arms and off the couch. Max grumbled quietly, shifting over into a more comfortable position.
He navigated the messy living room, heading into Teddi’s room and gently setting her on her bed. Teddi let out a low groan, rolling onto her back and blinking up at Billy. Her lipgloss and eyeliner were smudged. “The hell have you been?” she asked, her voice slurring slightly.
“Out.” Billy said evenly.
Teddi let out a heavy sigh, rubbing at her eyes and smudging her makeup further. “Look, I know you were out with someone else. Why can’t you just like man up and break up with me if you don’t wanna do this anymore-”
“The hell are you talking about, Larsson? I wasn’t out with anyone. I had something I had to do.”
Teddi sat up slowly, swaying a little as she glared up at him. “And this something was more important than El’s birthday?”
“Can we talk about this later when you’re not drunk?” he huffed, his hands resting angrily on his hips. Teddi’s expression didn’t waver. Billy ran a frustrated hand over his face. “You just gotta trust me, okay? I told El I was sorry.” Teddi’s expression softened a little.
She held out her middle finger to him. “You promise you weren’t out being a rat bastard?”
Billy laughed softly, groaning a little as he hooked his finger with hers. “You chicks are big on promises, huh? Yeah, fine. I promise,” he wrapped his arm around her middle, easily lifting Teddi up and moving her over to make room for himself. Teddi squeaked as he tossed her, grabbing fists full of his t-shirt. “You still mad at me?” he asked as he settled next to her.
“Yes...a little,” she sighed. “The keeping stuff from each other just gives me this like...icky feeling.” she confessed.
“I’m not...I mean, except for now. But you’re gonna have to deal with it, Larsson,” Teddi let out a scoff, letting his shirt go and crossing her arms tightly across her chest. Billy chuckled, leaning over his girlfriend and pressing a few kisses to the base of her neck. “You know,” he mumbled against her collarbone. “If it helps, I felt guilty about skipping out.”
“You mean you’re capable of that emotion?” Teddi asked dryly.
“Funny.”
Teddi gave Billy’s chest a soft push, their eyes meeting. “Okay, but like...what if you killed a guy?” she asked. Billy blinked down at her. “You’d tell me right?”
Billy was silent for a few moments before letting out a laugh. “What are we, Bonnie and Clyde? You gonna help me hide the body, Weird Girl?”
“It’s hypothetical, smartass.”
“Fine,” Billy grinned. “The second I off someone, you’re the first person I’m gonna call,” Teddi seemed genuinely pleased with this answer. “You know, you’re even weirder when you’re drunk.” he teased, leaning down to kiss her.
“If you two are gonna make out all night, can you at least close the door? I so don’t wanna hear this.” Max called out from the couch.
Teddi smiled against Billy’s lips, breaking out into a fit of giggles. “Sorry, Max!” she called back, pushing a grumbling Billy towards her bedroom door.
“I thought you were still mad at me?” he asked, shutting the door and stripping down to his underwear.
“I am. But we used your blanket to make the fort so it’s only fair,” Teddi explained, wriggling out of her cut off shorts and throwing them across the room. “Let me sleep on that side though, I might have to puke later.” she said, reaching for the small trash can that sat next to her nightstand.
“...Sure know how to get a guy hot, Ted.” Billy muttered, grabbing the trash can and setting it next to the bed. Once they were both settled, Teddi tucked against Billy’s chest with his chin resting on her head, it didn’t take long for Teddi to fall back asleep.
Billy briefly wondered when this had become his life. Living with a girl he loved, sharing a bed almost every single night, family dinners at Hopper’s on the weekends. He was happy. That loud, angry voice that had at one point controlled almost everything he did barely spoke to him anymore. It scared him a little. Like he was turning into that annoying gold droid in those stupid Star Wars movies Teddi had forced him to watch that was always saying I’ve got a bad feeling about this.
He shoved those worries aside. His arm tightened around Teddi, her hand mindlessly reaching down to rest on his forearm as she snuggled deeper into her pillow. They deserved to be happy. Billy wasn’t going to fall for that self fulfilling prophecy bullshit Teddi was always talking about (he was pretty sure he understood what it was at this point).
What could possibly stand in their way?

El and Max were laughing loudly as you three strolled out of the mall on the winter day. You had just spent hours running into every store and you were sure that you had purchased the girls enough clothes to replace their entire wardrobe. In addition to the shopping spree, you all had freshly painted nails. Your nails were a bright shade of pink, El’s were a dark purple. and Max had settled on the clearest shade possible.
“Where are we going next?” El looked up at you.
“Back to the Henderson house,” you swung your arm over her shoulders. “Fingers crossed the boys were able to keep it in one piece and made some sort of progress on dinner.”
Max snorted and shook her head, “Don’t hold your breath. They’re probably still in the middle of a campaign.”
“A girl can dream,” you sighed as you pushed the key into the lock, twisting it to open your door. You unlocked the trunk and the rest of the doors so the girls could climb in while you dropped all of the bags into the back. “Maybe Steve has it covered,” you said while taking your seat at the steering wheel.
Both of the girls laughed loudly and you looked over at them, questioning the outburst.
“Y/N, I hate to break it to you, but we’ve got Steve wrapped around our fingers. I’m sure the guys completely distracted him from dinner,” Max grinned.
“He’s a...” El trailed off, looking back at Max who was in the backseat of the car. “What does Mike call him again?”
“A sucker. He’s a sucker,” Max said.
“Sucker, yes,” El looked back at you with a grin of her own.
You looked between the two of them, then shook your head, “Yeah. I really have no argument for that.”
They laughed again as you started up the car.
“You girls want to listen to some music?” you asked them as you pulled out of the parking lot. They both nodded and you pointed to the glove compartment, “Go through there and pick something.”
El reached forward and reached into the compartment. Max leaned forward and poked her head in between you two so she could look at the choices. You paid attention to the road as they debated on what to listen to.
“Let’s Dance, David Bowie...Who’s David Bowie?” El asked as she held up a tape.
You gasped and looked over at her quickly, “Hopper hasn’t introduced you to David Bowie yet?”
“I don’t think so,” she shook her head.
“Chief Hopper doesn’t really strike me as the Bowie type, Y/N,” Max snickered and took the tape from El’s hand, pushing it into the cassette player.
Soon the opening beat of Modern Love was filling your car. You couldn’t help it and started tapping your hands against the steering wheel. Max leaned back into her seat and through the mirror, you could see her shoulders starting to shake back and forth. Out of the corner of your eye, you could see El listening intently, but that brightness was filling her eyes and you knew this would be a hit for her.
By the time that the first chorus rolled around, you leaned over and asked her, “What do you think?”
“I love it,” she grinned over at you.
You laughed and leaned back, turning the music up louder. You sang the lyrics out loud as each song played and by the time Let’s Dance had begun to play, the three of you were unable to stop yourselves from dancing as much as you could while still sitting.
Meanwhile, at the Henderson house, Steve was standing over the four kids as they engaged in yet another argument over Dungeons and Dragons. They had fought hard to get him to participate but he managed to get out of it once more. He knew his time was running short and soon he would have no choice but to participate in one of their campaigns. Until then, though, he would quietly observe.
“Guys,” he tried again to get their attention. “I was supposed to start dinner an hour ago so we could all sit when the girls got back.”
“Dinner is not important right now, Steve,” Mike shook his head over at him.
“My life is important and if I don’t get a start on it now, I’ll have no life,” Steve groaned as he ran his hand through his hair.
“Steve! Kinda busy, right now!” Dustin started to shout.
Steve’s head turned to the front of the house and he rushed forward, pulling back the curtains. Your laughter reached his ears and he groaned, his forehead resting against the cold glass, “I am so dead.”
You, El and Max laughed loudly as you grabbed the bags from the back of your car to bring them inside. You bumped your hips into theirs as you continued to sing loudly, “Let’s Dance!”
El had the cassette tape in her hands as she had wanted to continue listening to it again in the house. You saw Steve pull back from the curtains and soon the front door was opening. He stood in the doorway with a grin as he greeted you all, “Hello, ladies.”
“Hi Steve,” Max and El said together. They crouched underneath his arms and moved into the house. You could hear Max sigh, “I told you, Y/N! A campaign!”
You stopped in your steps and looked at Steve, your laughter cutting off instantly.
“I tried my very best to get them to be productive,” Steve said. He rushed forward to take some bags from you but you kept your blank expression. He frowned and leaned in so he could kiss your cheek and whispered, “I’m sorry I suck.”
“You don’t suck,” you said as you shook your head. “But you have got to stop being such a softie with these kids, babe.”
You moved into the house and dropped the bags you were still holding, then clapped your hands together. “The game is ending soon, boys! El, Max, come help me with dinner. Let’s let the boys continue being useless.”
“Ouch,” Steve whispered.
“Was that supposed to phase me?” Lucas looked over at you.
Max flicked his ear and he ducked his head quickly, reaching forward to poke her side a bit.
“Y/N, we need a radio!” El shouted.
“Yes! Dustin,” you turned to the resident of the house to ask him, “Do you have any sort of cassette player?”
“Boombox in my room,” Dustin answered automatically as if he were on autopilot.
“Can you go get it?” you asked him.
“Y/N,” he groaned.
“Dustin, go get the damn boombox,” Steve poked him in the arm a bit before looking up at you. “Do you want my help with dinner?”
“I wanted you to start dinner so we could all be eating right now,” you grinned over at him. “Don’t worry, Steve. The girls and I will take care of everything, as always.”
“How long are you going to hold this over my head?” he moved over to you and reached out to touch your waist but you slapped his hands away lightly.
“For as long as I can,” you hummed to yourself before turning back to the kitchen.
Dustin returned a minute later, boombox in hand and he passed it off to you. You thanked him before spinning around and moving into the kitchen, El and Max following right behind you.
El slid the cassette tape in and waited for the tape to rewind before pressing play, Modern Love playing all over again. You threw your hair up to rest it on top of your head and all three of you started getting dinner together. You didn’t want to completely destroy Mrs. Henderson’s kitchen so when she had asked you what you would need, you kept it simple: chicken, mashed potatoes, and some sort of vegetable.
“Shut the music off!” Will cried out from the other room.
“We’re trying to focus!” Mike yelled.
“Shut up!” all three of you shouted back before breaking out into a fit of giggles. As you handled the actual cooking part, you bounced back and forth on your feet lightly. When you knew the chicken could rest for a bit before being turned over, you would dance over to one of the girls and spin them around to the beat of the music.
Steve covered his mouth with his hand, trying to hide the enormous smile that was covering his face as he watched you with them. You looked so carefree and happy as you taught the lyrics to El while focusing on the food in front of you, and you looked like you were having so much fun each time you would laugh at Max’s air guitars. Pure joy was a beautiful look for you and it was a look he was sure that he wanted to see every single day.
You flicked the stove off and lowered the music, calling out to the other room, “Someone better come set up this table!”
Steve took that as his cue and walked over to the boys, clapping his hands again, “I’m serious this time. The game’s over. Go help set the table.”
They all sighed dramatically and pulled themselves away, leaving Steve behind to clean up and push everything away. Proud of having helped with dinner, El and Max carried everything over and couldn’t help but drop a snide comment or two which caused you to smile with pride.
Mrs. Henderson had made sure to add enough chairs to the table so you all could sit comfortably and you reached into the fridge to get milk, but you jumped when you felt arms wrap around your waist.
“Steve,” you sighed his name and with your free hand, covered his hands gently.
“Let me just hug you for a few minutes. I’m feeling sentimental,” he mumbled into your neck.
You smiled softly and turned your head so you could look at him but you were unable to get a good look at him. You leaned forward and kissed his head, “Why are you feeling sentimental?”
“Because sometimes I look at you and think about how lucky I am that I get to date someone as beautiful and amazing as you,” he picked his head up and brushed his lips against yours slowly.
“Please don’t kill the appetite that I have,” Mike broke up the moment but El slapped his chest.
You chuckled to yourself and pulled away from Steve’s arms, squeezing his hand before walking over to the table and pouring everyone a glass of milk. Everyone reached forward to start filling their plates with food and you waited to make sure they were okay before sitting down, Steve following you shortly after.
“Why so many bags from the mall?” Dustin asked as he finally took notice of the multiple shopping bags.
“We had a shopping spree,” El grinned. “And we got our nails done!”
You laughed as she held her hands out to show off the color she had chosen and it filled you with pride as each boy leaned in, complimenting her on the choice.
“Did you get yours done, Max?” Lucas turned to her.
“Yeah but the polish is clear,” Max shrugged her arms as she chewed on her food.
“Clear?” Dustin snorted. “Boring.”
“Not as boring as your lifestyle, Dustin,” Max shot back at him easily and Will snickered, looking down so that no one could see.
“Children,” you sang the word. “Behave.”
“We always behave, Y/N,” Dustin looked over at you and gave you a wide smile.
“Yeah and I’m the Mayor of Sweden,” you rolled your eyes.
“You could be. Maybe you’re lying about who you really are,” Will said.
You laughed again and reached over to mess his hair up, “Shut up and eat, kid.”
“You dipshits cool with a movie after dinner?” Steve asked.
“Raiders of the Lost Ark!” they all shouted together, which took you by surprise. Usually, it took them hours to decide on a movie and even at that point there would at least be one member of the party unhappy with the choice.
“Raiders of the Lost Ark it is then,” you looked over at Steve with a grin.
“You will never hear me complain about a Harrison Ford movie, that’s for sure,” he chuckled.
Soon you were all done with dinner and everyone participated in the cleanup. They raced back into the living room afterward, eager to get the movie started as soon as possible.
Steve slung the dishtowel over his shoulder and walked over to you, reaching to push a stray piece of hair behind your ear. “Sit next to me during the movie?” he asked you softly.
You reached up to touch his wrist gently and leaned up to kiss him gently as you nodded your head, whispering against his lips, “Of course.”
He laced his fingers with yours and tugged you into the living room. The kids had thrown as many pillows as they could onto the floor and El smiled up at you, waving her hand at you, “Come sit next to me.”
You turned your head to look at Steve and he chuckled, pushing you forward as he said, “I’ve got you next movie.”
You slipped away from him and walked over, sitting between El and Dustin. Max was on El’s other side while the guys were all gathered on Dustin’s other side. You leaned your back against the couch and settled in for the night.
Steve climbed behind them all and rested on the couch, stretching his legs out. Lucas shut the lights off before moving to sit on the floor and soon the movie started. Steve’s eyes moved towards you and he kept them on you for a majority of the movie, unable to pull his gaze away.
Halfway through the movie, you had begun to yawn. The day caught up with you quickly and you had not realized how tired you were until that very moment.
El looked up at you and whispered your name, “Y/N?”
You turned your head when you heard her, “What is it?”
“Thank you for today. You’re like a sister. Sisters are nice,” El spoke softly.
Max turned her head slightly and nodded her head in agreement with El, “Yeah. It’s pretty cool.”
You felt your heartstrings tug and you leaned over El to squeeze Max’s shoulder before leaning in to kiss El’s head gently, whispering with a smile, “Sisters are pretty awesome, especially you two.”
The movie continued to play but one by one, the younger ones were falling asleep. You had sunk down to the floor and were minutes from joining them, barely able to keep your eyes open. Steve picked himself up carefully and slid into the open space between you and Dustin, who had rolled onto his stomach as he slept.
You breathed in as you opened your eyes, looking over at Steve and smiled softly as you whispered, “I was wondering when you’d join me.”
“I didn’t want to intrude,” he moved closer, wrapping his arm around your waist. “You girls looked like you were having a moment.”
“Yeah,” you sighed. “Steve, how did we become so attached to these brats?”
“Well it doesn’t help that they’re pretty damn spectacular and we bonded over a life-threatening experience. That protective streak might stick with us for life,” he answered you honestly. He chuckled when he felt Dustin turn in his sleep and soon, he was curled up against Steve’s back. “It’s like we’ve got a mini-family, y’know? It’s cool. We get to be badass role models for these kids, Y/N. And they need it in this shit town.”
“Wow. You really are feeling sentimental tonight,” you teased him.
“Shut up,” he chuckled. “Don’t repeat any of this to anyone, especially the kids. Let me keep up the cool teenager image.”
You smiled and curled your hands around his, holding them in between your chests. “Whatever you say, Steve Harrington,” you said.
He squeezed your hands and rested his forehead against yours. That was the last thing you said for the night as you fell asleep within the next few minutes. He was the last to fall asleep, following your lead shortly after.
An hour later, keys jingled outside as Mrs. Henderson returned from her night out. The house was awfully quiet and she soon found out why. Her heart was ready to burst. Lucas laid on his side, curled up into a ball with his jaw open slightly. Will was curled up as well, his back facing Lucas. Mike slept on his back but his hand was pressing into Dustin’s back, who had his face pressed into the back of Steve’s shirt. Mrs. Henderson held her hand over her heart as she looked at the two babysitters. Their hands were locked and their heads were pressed together. And the two new members of the “party” as Dustin had called it were behind Y/N. The girl who Dustin had introduced as Jane had her arm thrown over Y/N’s waist and Max was laying with a pillow pressed against her chest.
Mrs. Henderson sighed softly, knowing she could not disturb the group. They all looked too peaceful. She stepped around them quietly and moved to the closet where she kept spare blankets. Once she had enough, she moved to lay them over everyone gently. “Oh my Dusty,” she whispered. “I am so glad you have found this group of friends.”
Mrs. Henderson retired to her bedroom shortly after that and the party was left to sleep comfortably out in the living room.
But was this just some sort of party, an odd group of friends? No. It wasn’t just a mini-family either. This was the real deal or as close to it as one could get. This was a family and it was the best kind of family that anyone could ever ask for.

Thoughts on RAW
Well, I stayed awake so that’s something.
1. Brock boomboxing with the briefcase was the only thing that has entertained me about him in some time. At this point it really feels like he has some dirt on Vince to get whatever he wants and Vince is a complete idiot. Between Brock’s super secret schedule, the obscene amount of money they pay him(half the time for matches he can’t even look interested in), and the lack of respect he has for everyone, I couldn’t blame any of the Superstars who might be lining up outside Vince’s office to tell him to fuck off, they’re done.
2.  Brock having the briefcase is a slap to the face of everyone who worked hard and put their bodies through hell in that ladder match and he proved it by standing there like an asshole, knowing he didn’t deserve it. People can blame the character all they want but Brock is a guy with enough pull with Vince and if he actually cared about wrestling instead of just collecting his massive paycheck, he wouldn’t have agreed to Vince’s idiotic idea. Vince will blame everyone but himself when his company fails but his inability to adapt to the changing landscape and his desire to put out a product based on his own entertainment instead of the people’s will be to blame.
3. Of course morale is at an all time low when Vince is too busy kissing Brock’s ass to bother creating new stars who actually want to wrestle, entertain, and care about putting on a good match with anyone who gets in the ring with them.
4. Does Braun ever need a huge reset. I was hoping when he was written off before TLC for his surgery that he’d come back with a new character or at least a new plan but they rushed him back for the same old shit. I don’t know if the rumours of backstage issues are true or if Vince has just soured on him, but it’s clear they have no idea how to present Braun as a character. Sure, when he destroys things or people, it gets cheers and views on YouTube, but there’s no layers to his character.
5. The Firefly Fun House continues to be creepy as fuck.
6. I have never connected more with Alexa Bliss than when she brought her coffee to the ring with her. Alexa/Nikki is a strange pairing but it’s entertaining for now. I know we’ve seen the whole Alexa-uses-a-supposed-friend story before but with Nikki, it feels like it could go a different way. It’s at least intriguing enough to keep my attention. The match was less exciting, mostly because once again The IIconics were pinned even though they’re the tag champs and it makes the titles feel so unimportant.
7. I am so over Shane stealing TV and PPV time from actual wrestlers. Props that he’s added new moves into his small arsenal but the only thing to really look forward to in a Shane McMahon match is his eventual huge spot and even that has become less exciting. It just feels so contrived and overdone to try to use a heel McMahon to get a Superstar over(and it’s not working), and now they’ve added Drew McIntyre in as Shane’s new lackey. Ugh.
8. The Usos/The Revival was good and proved Vince is an asshole again. They could have been having a great feud based on respect and determining who the better team truly is but instead we got comedy segments that made the babyface Usos look like schoolyard bullies and the heel Revival look sympathetic(and like pure professionals for putting up with it).
9. AJ really put some force into that slap to Baron Corbin!
10. Cesaro is great and they should push him. They won’t, it makes me sad, but they should.
11. The 24/7 title has the potential to be interesting. The name sucks, the design isn’t great, it will be treated as a joke, but it could be entertaining. I would have more faith in them pulling it off if the writing was better but I’m willing to give it a chance. We’ll see how much time they spend updating people watching RAW and SD if the title changes happen off-air for the people who don’t follow their social media, or don’t use social media.
12. The main event was good. Standard tag team match with the tease of Brock maybe cashing in. Never once believed he was going to. There was no way they would use both briefcases within 24 hours of the PPV. The main takeaway I took from this match is that WWE has no idea what to do with Bobby Lashley or Baron Corbin. Baron gets good heat, I think he’s actually underrated and could be very good if used effectively. Bobby seems to have the same issues a Braun. Huge guy, should be demolishing everyone, but they never really push consistently.
13. The Brock tease was stupid. Did anyone actually buy that he might cash in tonight? Both champs were in the ring, are both faces, are both friends, and unless WWE wants to turn one of them heel by walking away, there was no way either of them was going to let Brock cash in on the other right after the match. They could have been so much more creative with it and ended up with a Saudi match against one champ with the briefcase still in tact. They could have done anything but the expected Brock walks around the ring but never gets in and we’re supposed to think he’s intimidating. But that’s what they did.

Ultra 2017: The 5th Largest Music Festival in the US
The Numbers
In 2014, Ultra Music Festival’s attendance was 160,000 festival goers.  This made it the 5th most attended music festival in the United States following Coachella (4th at 180k) Lollapalooza (3rd at 220k), Electric Daisy Carnival (2nd at 450k), and Austin City Limits (1st at 450k).
On the social media side of things, #Ultra was the third most popular festival hashtag with over 1,000,000 tags on Instagram, following #coachella and #warpedtour.
In 2014, Ultra had the 3rd biggest profit out of all the music festivals with a whopping $200 million made in profit, following Coachella (in 2nd with $254.4mm) and Electric Daisy Carnival (in 1st with $322.1mm), according to Complex. made a little over $180mmTo put this in perspective, The Revenant staring Leonardo DiCaprio, who won the Oscar for best-actor for the role, as the 14th most profitable movie in 2016.
Festivals these days are topping big time box office movies, and the trend is continuing to go up. Point is, these events are fun, thrilling, expensive, and worth it all at the same time. With the numbers to prove.
Now that we’ve hit the high-level, let’s dive into the final Lineup for the 2017 Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida.
The Lineup
Yesterday, the 3rd and final stage of the 2017 Ultra Lineup was announced, adding on to the already stacked list of performers. I have attended the festival twice (in 2013 and 2014), being one of the lucky guests to attend Swedish House Mafia’s last show.
Just so you know the kind of person that I am and my taste in music, I will admit that I slightly regretted not going to the beginning of Wolfgang Gartner and catching the last portion of SHM for the theatrics. Wolfgang is one of my favorite DJs to listen to live – he really knows how to throw a party and keep a mesmerizing melodic groove going. MOVING ALONG NOW!
The live headliners according to the 2017 Ultra App  to date will be Chase & Status, Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, Justice, KSHMR, Major Lazer, The Prodigy, Rabbit in the Moon, Underworld, and ZHU.
The DJ headliners will be Above & Beyond, Adam Beyer, Afrojack, Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Axwell Λ Ingrosso, Carl Cox, Dash Berlin, David Guetta, Dubfire, Galantis, Hardwell, Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati, Maceo Plex, Marco Carola, Martin Garrix, Sasha & John Digweek, Seth Troxler, DJ Snake, Steve Aoki, Tale of Us, Tiësto, and Zedd.
The acts closing the mainstage each day will be Major Lazer (Friday), Axwell Λ Ingrosso (Saturday) and DJ Snake (Sunday). Click here to view a spreadsheet of the schedule if you can’t access the App for whatever reason.
Simply put, this lineup is stacked with headliners. Below I have a breakdown of popular acts, 3 different opinions on which shows to see, and the demographics of the acts.
According to the app at this time, the most liked acts are…
Martin Garrix (1811 likes)
Hardwell (1432 likes)
Armin Van Buuren (1264 likes)
Tiësto (1253 likes)
DJ Snake (1203 likes)
The most scheduled acts (individuals adding the acts to their Ultra schedule) are…
Martin Garrix (5740 scheduled)
Tiësto (5143 scheduled)
Armin Van Buuren (5120 scheduled)
Alesso (5041 scheduled)
Major Lazer (4994 scheduled)
The app contains an extremely easy to use scheduler, perfect for anyone attending the event. Below, I will go though my schedule, how I’m thinking about my day, acts I’m especially excited for, and conflicts. Just so you understand who I am and my personal taste, Dubstep was my first EDM love. I love low-end play. The artists I’ve probably seen the most is Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, and Skrillex. I enjoy electro-house from time to time and will dip my toes in trance, but I will mostly go for the heavier bass, trap, and rap.
Although there is NO WAY, I would stick to the schedule I set out, it’s important to know where you’re looking to go ahead of time. The schedule is of course subject to change based off whatever I feel like doing because I’m at a music festival and that’s the point
See my schedule below…
FRIDAY
Friday starts at a later time, the schedule was fairly easy for me to decide for this one because a lot of my favorite artists were playing. Don Diablo is coming in at the first spot, then the sultry smooth tropical sounds of Robin Schulz, then my lineup gets a bit tricky from here.
Grandtheft is so good at mixing quick transitions and keeping the party going while appeasing my ADD music ear, so I have to check him out for a bit, but I also want to catch the new, upcoming live act from Youngr – check his video in this post to see what you can expect from him.
I’ll take a bit of a break before I hit the hard hitting, dance styles of Party Favor, Feed Me, one of the tougher decisions of the night, Adventure Club, and obviously Major Lazer to end it all. Adventure Club and Major Lazer are some of my favorite musicians in the industry, so I had to forgo other options.
Newer Acts I’m pumped to see: Youngr
Acts I’m most excited for: Major Lazer, Adventure Club, Grandtheft
Conflicts: Bro Safari (chose Grandtheft instead), Armin Van Buuren & Kshmr (Party Favor), Alesso (Feed Me), Zhu & Martin Garrix & Carl Cox & Jai Wolf (Adventure Club), Boombox Cartel (Major Lazer)
SATURDAY
Saturday is the first full day, and this is the day I’m looking to really dance into the night. Starting off my morning right, I’m looking forward to Korean DJ, Raiden‘s set on the Main Stage. The weather is suppose to be nice, and I know Raiden is tried and true. Setting the day off with a good show will set the tone for the rest of the day.
Next off to tried and true Ultra Recording artist and DJ veteran Tommie Sunshine and quickly hitting Scottish house producer, Chris Lake, before some more sultry tropical sounds from Sam Feldt.
Martin Solveig seems like a good next transition from Sam Feldt keeping that uplifting feel with a more house vibe. At this point, I should be in full party mode really ready to start dancing.
After witnessing Black Coffee on Boiler Room, I have to check out his set. I’ve seen the Russian electro-house trio, Swanky Tunes before at Ultra, and I’ve decided to be a return customer.
I’ll hang out for a bit then try to change the vibe up a bit and watch Cypress Hill‘s live performance. Hip-Hop was my first love, and after all of the electronic music I’ve been taking up to this point, rap sound like it will be a nice change of pace.
Then I’m getting back into it, catching the second half of Tiësto and then following up with the #1 DJ in the world according to DJ Mag for some trance in John Digweed.
Laidback Luke will fulfill my uplifting house that I was so much enjoying at the beginning of the day before I go into the heavy dubstep for the remainder of the night.
Skrillex is one my favorite acts to date, so in his label, OWSLA, I trust. There has not been much dubstep up until this point, so I feel a Saturday night of dubstep would really do the trick.
Newer Acts I’m pumped to see: Raiden
Acts I’m most excited for: Cypress Hill, Black Coffee, OWSLA
Conflicts: DJ Sliink & Kungs (Black Coffee), Steve Aoki (Swanky Tunes & Cypress Hill), Ice Cube (Tiësto & John Digweed), Cedric Gervais (John Digweed), Above & Beyond (Laidback Luke), Afrojack & Carl Cox (OWSLA), Axwell Λ Ingrosso (OWSLA), Nicky Romero (OWSLA)
Sunday
It’s Sunday, and I’ve finally made it to the third and final day of the festival. Today, I’m excited for these newer acts that I have yet to experience, but hear great things. I’m excited to start off with Madrid-based, DJ Nano, and resident Ultra DJ Mykris, with hard hitting electro-house to wake me up.
Lookas was named a “Top 10 Acts to Watch This Year” from Rolling Stones magazine, so I have to go check them out next. Then off to Showtek, who was responsible for one of my favorite songs last year and popular hit on rbeatzradio.com, Believer.
I saw Fedde le Grand for the first time at Ultra 2013, and I will be a returning customer. “So Much Love” was a staple in our 2013 playlist. Then off to see Galantis who I’ve seen before and loved. Miike Snow has been one of my favorite bands, and half of Galantis is part of Miike Snow…so this was an obvious choice for me.
I’ve heard Malaa is a bit on the experimental/dark side, but very cool. I’m assuming I’ll want a change of pace from the bright uplifting sounds. I’m also following up the darkness of Malaa with some heavy trap/dubstep hitters in NGHTMRE and Slushii.
David Guetta will bring me back to the more uplifting sound/side of things. Justice is an obvious choice – I simply MUST attend this one. I can’t stay away from the French electronic stylings of one of the industries greatest.
Newer Acts I’m pumped to see: Lookas, Malaa
Acts I’m most excited for: Fedde le Grand, NGHTMRE, Justice
Conflicts: Afrojack (Malaa), Hardwell (Malaa), Zedd (Slushii), Armin van Buuren & Getter & Ty Dolla $ign (David Guetta), Bassjackers & DJ Snake & GTA (Justice)
Another opinion from DJ Nick
I understand that not everyone will have the same music tastes as myself, so I asked my friend Nick, who DJs in NYC and LOVES old-school trance/techno/house to give me his list of performances he’d attend.
If you’re more into the trance scene, listen to Nick. His lineup is almost the polar opposite of the one I posted above, so if you hated what I laid out, try the Nick route
His list is below…
FRIDAY
Saeed Younan/ Dosem, DJ Icey, DJ Anna,  Technasia, Maya Jane Coles, Marca Carola, Hot Since 82, Nic Fanciulli, Carl Cox, and Maceo Plex
Saturday
Eli & Fur, Hector, Reboot,  Martinez Bros, Kolsch, Matthias Tanzmann, Black Coffee, Matador, Tale of Us, Marcel Dettmann, Sasha and Digweed, Chris Liebing, Dubfire, Carl Cox, and Adam Beyer
Sunday
Waff b2b Nathan Barato, Patrick Topping, Barclay Crenshaw, Jackmaster, Stephan Bodzin, Eats Everything, Underworld, Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, and Justice
Throughout this entire list, we had 3 crossovers. This even included my conflicts! This just goes to show that there is a lot for people of various music tastes at the eclectic Ultra Music Festival.
