Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Reviews Episode 3-20: Party Crasher
This is the weird episode where Kim gets a Miraculous and Adrien's stalker (I'm still hesitant to call Marinette a stalker, despite her potential) gets akumatized and grows a mustache. Yeah.
They're FRIENDS!? The love square is a doomed relationship. Either that or I'm too harsh on Wayhem.
Oh, is this one of those "throw party while your parents are gone" episodes?
Alright, that hologram was a devious trick. I love it. And the lore for where Hawkmoth gets his butterflies. Also is Gabriel just going to hide in his secret rooms all weekend?
Boys party! Except for Nathaniel, for some reason. Is he too busy working on his comic with his boyfriend? Is Nathaniel even part of the boys' friend group?
Or not? Why wasn't he there then?
*Ditches a tree planting which would honestly be short with their muscle, forcing the girlies to do it all by themselves*
*Bribes Adrien's real dad with rare action figures*
*Didn't tell Adrien about their plan*
Oh phew. Marinette's on investigation duty. Still odd that she wasn't honest, though.
Discount YMCA
Oh, there they are. They were just late or something.
Wait, Marinette this is exactly what I feared you were doing, ditcher. Mylene Disrespect.
*Steals the power supply from the Agreste Mansion, putting Gabriel into crisis mode*
This is getting dumb and weird. What's Luka doing here? Is he possessed or something? He Would Not Fucking Do This. Or at least his sister should scold him or something.
The Chloe makeup joke was good, though.
Mario
Master Fu as well!? Hawkmoth could be here!
HE BROUGHT HIS MIRACLE BOX TOO!?
Oh my god the gorilla has earplugs in
Oh. That's where the mustache comes from.
King Monkey's alright, though. His powers are cool and I like how he glitches stuff up.
This episode doesn't end in Alya and the rest of the girlsquad chewing out the boys and Marinette (except for Adrien he's innocent) while Juleka pulls Luka by the ear in the background. This is objectively worse than Chameleon.
Disrespectful. Disrespectful! DISRESPECTFUL! This episode got me to side with the guy that chased after Adrien for an entire episode the last time he had a big presence. Nino was the anti-MVP of this episode. Marinette is still bad and she gets away with it as always. F tier episode. Mylene Disrespect. Disrespect of all the girlsquad minus Marinette, which means it's Juleka Disrespect again. This show just loves to disrespect her.

Sorry but I believe you were wrong to agree with the anon who said that Fei's transformation isn't disrespectful/racist. That anon claims transformation doesn't care about your race, yet every European character keeps their race, while Fei (+ Alya&Max) for some reason have to change? It isn't even just hair, on that comparing pictures it's seen that her face and eye shape, eye colour, all becomes more European in super form. And she doesn't need to hide her race for secrecy, she lives in China.
(The post this user is referring to)
I'm sorry about this. Like I said, I'm not Asian, so I don't have this kind of perspective on things.

I used to be super into miraculous ladybug but I got incredibly frustrated the show so I just stopped watching and have since only followed updates through the fandom.
Anyway here's how I view the show through my stubborn head canons.
Nathalie cares deeply for Adrien, and after his mom died she wanted to be a comforting hand, but Gabriel told her she couldn't as he felt it'd be disrespectful to his wife. Ever since Nathalie has tried locking away both her affection for Adrien and her frustrations with Gabriel
Marinette has ADHD, and she has meds for it, but she really struggles with taking them, not only because of forgetfulness, but they also impact how well she does in fights in a negative way. This causes a lot of internal conflict, because on one hand she'd like to get things done as planned in her personal life, but on the other, an entire country is counting on her to protect them.
Marinette is crazy good at recognizing patterns. Not just in a fashion sense, but in video games she beats everyone because she just remembers what button combos will work best agasint others. Because of this, she's really good at maths, but because she doesn't like maths, she struggles to focus on those assignments and usually gets a lower grade than she could.
Nino and Alya make music videos for fun. Idk this one is just cute to me.
Chloe gets redemption and truly tries to earn the forgiveness of everyone she's upset. At first, she just tries buying everyone stuff, but after a talk about how you can't just buy people's opinions, she takes the time to learn about the people around her and ends up fiercely protective of her friends.
The whole weredad scenario ends with Mari sheepishly confessing that she did not actually have a crush on Chat, she just wanted an excuse, so after that everytime Chat sees Tom, they end up sharing the most powerful puns in their artillery, much to Marinettes endless regret.

Chloe didn't know Ryuko's identity, there's not a single line in the show suggesting that she did and even a line suggesting that she didn't (her surprise as Miracle Queen when she found out that Kagami was a Miraculous holder as well). You can sympathize with Chloe all you want, but twisting canon won't win you arguments.
You know I really should just block your ass but let's let's let's.
Let's pretend for half a second that Kagami's incredibly public outing of her own identity magically was only heard by Hawkmoth and no one in the vicinity recorded or even heard Ikari Gozen screaming Kagami's name and calling her such a disrespectful daughter.
Let's pretend that you're right and every single civilian managed to go a mile away, no one hid in nearby buildings peeking out with their cellphones, Alya wasn't in the vicinity doing exactly that, the news crews that were already set up and recording the event shut everything down no cameras left rolling and just didn't report on this one singular Akuma even though they have cameras aimed at every single other Akuma they can.
Let's pretend for one second that somehow Chloé was unaware that Ladybug was breaking the 'you got benched for your identity' rule.
Instead, let's focus on Chloé.
A 13/14 year old girl with no superpowers.
Trapped on her balcony by a grown man who does have superpowers.
No one's coming to help. No one can hear her. He could do whatever he wants to her, and no one could stop it. Despite prior knowledge of the Villain coming after her, the Hero has given her no way to defend herself or call for help if it happens again.
He's holding her parents hostage. Threatening to hurt them. Making sure she knows exactly how much the cards are in his hands right now.
Somehow, he knows exactly what to say to make her feel even worse. Reinforcing every bad thought about herself. Whether it came from her own self-hatred, her mother's abuse, her classmates' misguided attempts to 'help' her by telling her that her only worth is in being mean and it's what she should do while also berating her for doing exactly that and being skeptical when she /does/ try to be nice.
The Villain says she should embrace that badness too, that she has worth to him. That he won't hurt her, that he'll let her parents go, if she just does what he asks.
Wouldn't it make sense that she gives in?

Marinette Traumatized & Could Have Been Killed. Well since you hate Chloe, want to Cataclysm Kim (and somehow ignore the filmer Sabrina who loved the smoke).
Allow me to deride your wah I despise Chloe, I want Marinette protected from what isn't Sabrina or SockayLEAN (or shippers for Adrien and Marinette that's not Andre Glacier) or how you're like Kim had the rejection coming all of a sudden from messy Flashback etc. crap.
Mr. Pigeon 72
Marinette did the same thing. She could have killed Adrien and or mostly Kagami and herself. Different purpose similar outcome. Could have became a trauma causer (I guess again but whatever).
Funny thing. Hating Alya for being pushy for Adrienette and boundary disrespect.
Marinette doing that on Kagami who no longer is interested for the Kagadriemn she's forcing against her.
Girl straight up caused a distraction against Adrien's bodyguard just to sneak her and Kagami to a private session, ruining Adrien's session for shipping nonsense.
So do talk about Mr Pigeon 72 since you wish to be so concerned from Derision.
Notice how things ironically look worse on the protagonist end?
Scratch that, Ladybug is the PROANTAGONIST :)
Experience The Deflagration!

Miraculous Ladybug and "Girl Power"
This post will not be about Marinette, as I've already gone over in previous posts of mine how I think the series lets her down in numerous different ways and if I were to add them all in here again it would overshadow everything else.
And "everything else", in this respect, involves the other female classmates and how they've all been let down in various ways by the whims of the creators and the writing team.
(Which bears worth mentioning at this point are majority male. The creator of the series is male, the main producer is male, and quite a bit of the writer's room over various years has been male.)
These various decisions in poor storytelling have led to, in some cases, the characters themselves becoming points of division within the fandom. Which also isn't something seen in other fandoms, at least not to the same extent I've witnessed in this one.
This is going to be long, so let's get going.
Alix: Ends up having to leave her class, and family, and exist "somewhere in time" until the Butterfly Miraculous is claimed back. However, since in the finale of Season 5 it gets lost again, ultimately she is gone for an undetermined length of time. Also she might become her own grandmother.
Rose: An undefined mysterious "illness" plagues her, and that it can come back at "any time", but it's not defined, therefore a Sword of Damocles is always hanging over her.
Sabrina: Essentially a slave to Chloe, shown at one point to actually be locked in a closet while being forced to do the homework of her "best friend". Is oblivious to how poorly she's being treated.
Juleka: At some point over between Seasons 3 and 4, was retconned into being the "twin" of Luka, which had the added effect of making her fail a year of school and so was held back. May or may not be in love with Rose, it's not something that will ever be properly defined.
Mylene: A character whose design incorporates her hair into rainbow dreads, which is a quagmire of appropriation.
Lila: A master manipulator that, for some reason, is able to fool various kids and adults and is able to flex between three different families. Has essentially become a caricature as her background leads to disbelief, and has been chosen to be the future Hawkmoth on top of that all.
Alya: Due to choices made when meeting Lila and with the continuation of believing certain things said by her, over Marinette, and also for various choices made while being a hero, Alya's position in the fandom has turned out to be divisive enough that "Alya Salt" is a genre of fanfiction on AO3.
Chloe: Originally on the road to redemption, things took a turn during Season 3 and ultimately Chloe paid the price of decisions made behind the scenes. Presented as even more evil than Hawkmoth, her future is one of being stuck with her abusive mother.
Zoe: Introduced in Season 4, Zoe is Chloe's sister and "replacement", in more ways than one. Not only does she get the Bee Miraculous, she also gets Chloe's biological father. Also has a crush on Marinette and it's actually shown in the show before Marinette lets her down gently as nothing can get in the way of the Love Square.
Kagami: Stuck alongside another abusive parent who disregards her artistic talent despite being blind, Kagami is eventually revealed to be a Sentimonster and will be in a relationship with a person who has shown to be disrespectful, and also said pairing came out of nowhere.
-
That's just a short list, and again it doesn't include everything with Marinette.
Such "Girl Power", am I right?

(Google translation: XD I realized that Hesperia is the type of character with work overload that unlike wanting to take a break he refuses to do it .... Children totally cup or have to chase him to sleep, right ???)
greentrickster: XD Yeah, he's definitely one of those people you have to chase down to make have a cup of tea and a nap - Hawkmoth takes no responsibility for his actions, but Hesperia takes too much responsibility for everyone's actions. Fortunately he's got the kids, who understand his importance and also care about him, as you said, but also it's really not they're job, because they're 14/15 and he's in his forties, he's right about that. He's a man naturally drawn to push the envelope in how much he expects from himself, but this particular scenario has him leaning to extremes even he wouldn't normally take.
And it's easy to say that the five of them are young adults, they're smart, strong, and capable, they're making their own decisions, this is their world and they have as much right to fight for it as anyone... and that's all true, very much so! The thing is, speaking as someone who - like Hesperia in this AU - is over the age of thirty and possessing of strong nurturing instincts, the urge to take responsibility and pressure away from young teenagers doesn't come from a place of disrespect or dismissiveness, but from wanting to keep them safe. Of knowing that they're entering a stage of life where they're going to really start testing their wings and their own limits while also still generally having that sense of immortality you have when you're younger and wanting to make a space where they can fly to their absolute limits while also leaving them a safe place to land or fall, and to pull them back before they get hurt in ways that can never be undone.
It makes for an interesting dynamic, because Gabriel is behaving as a genuinely good man in how he's trying to treat the kids, but he's hurting himself and in doing so risking the world never breaking free of the Supreme's grasp in the process. It'll take a lot of careful balancing to figure out a group dynamic where Hesperia's accepting support from the rest of the team without crossing a line and giving them a responsibility that they shouldn't have to carry. (Which is frankly a flavour of angst that would be 90% more interesting to me than any 'Gabriel's just a terrible dad in every universe' idea. There are only so many ways a character can be a terrible parent, but there's a far broader spectrum of ways to write a genuinely caring and decent character having to contend with a situation where they have to navigate an extremely complicated moral path where the lines between right and wrong are so heavily skewed due to the situation.)
If they were all adults, or if Gabriel was also a young teen, it would be a much simpler matter, he'd just need the occasional reminder that it's okay to let others share the burden and support him the way he supports them. But he's the eldest of the group by almost thirty years and the rest of the group is comprised entirely of minors, and that opens the story up for some truly delicious complications and intergroup conflict and bonding.
OoOoOoOoO
(Google translation: I saw a post on tumblr in which hesperia has to remind shadybug and claw noir that they are good now...and at the end a picture of a man with child restraints around two children......it made me laugh laughing when I imagined hesperia with child leashes around alya, nino, claw, shady and chloe)
greentrickster: XD XD XD Hardcore yes, they're doing a great job with their whole moral alignment shift, but there's still the odd time when their old supervillain ways are just so easy to accidentally slip into and the rest of the group has to run herd on them (and also stop them from being bad influences on Chloe. And also prevent Chloe from being a bad influence on them. Chloe, Shady, and Claw are the Trouble Trio in this universe, they're all here to smack down and verbally roast their enemies and I love that for them.
And this aspect makes them so hard to deal with at times, all three of them, but it's also surprisingly useful in regards to helping Hesperia and making sure he's okay. Because all three of these kids have their 'you're not the boss of me!' dials turned up to twelve, and they're only willing to listen if they think an adult or someone else has something worth saying. As mentioned in another post, Claw 100% appoints himself as team medic (which is great, because they need one and no one else wants to do it). Shady cheerfully (and much more sneakily) integrates herself into Gabriel's civilian life with a "Hi, I'm dating your son, I adore fashion, this is my portfolio, smile once while looking through it and I get to be your new intern" technique and proceeds to team up with Nathalie in regards to getting the namesake of the Gabriel line to not run himself ragged. She 100% does not care if anyone thinks she's dating Adrien solely as a career advancement technique, and anyone who tries to make it a problem for her can kiss her yoyo before it hits them in the face.
(Side note, Adrien didn't think he could fall for this girl any harder than he already has but hoo boy, was he ever wrong-)
As for Chloe, she gets the benefit of my love for the 'Chloe figures out Ladybug and Chat Noir's identities without being told' trope, and becomes the group schedule coordinator without anyone realizing what she's doing, primarily because she hasn't told anyone she that she knows. Having to hide Pollen for a month and some change made her realize that it can be kind of fun to know or have something no one else knows you do, even if it was extremely scary, but she's not on her own anymore and she figures that a couple of extra secret identities is safe enough to keep to herself. Marinette and Adrien are going slightly grey over how loose-lipped this girl seems to be with information about the resistance sometimes, Nino, Alya, and Gabriel are all very impressed at how often Shady and Claw manage to show up at just the right time without having prior knowledge of a meeting or mission, and Chloe's a busy but also very smug little bee. Turns out she likes coordinating more than just outfits, which eventually leads her to getting more involved in Alya's research and reconnaissance work, and the two of them getting to be better friends.

Alfred + Russian ‘diminutives’
No, my Russian friend and source denounces Fredka, who tf came up with it anyway.
Alfred has several nicknames including Al and Fred/dy, so if you want to slap Russian sounds on them (not actually diminutives because Alfred is not a Russian name, yes Russian diminutives are p much gatekept) they would become Alya or Fedya. You can turn it intimate (or mocking) by using Fedenka tho. However foreign names are usually left on their own, so Ivan would likely call Alfred just by, Alfred.
Here’s a little headcanon: Vanya usually calls Alfred by Alfred, but when he is especially annoyed by him he butchers his name by calling him Alyosha which is actually a diminutive of Alexei as a sign of disrespect. Why Alexei? Because it sounds pretty close lol. So basically it’s Alyosha (derogatory).

okay so after re-watching across the spiderverse for the third time (yes I have a problem shut up) I basically BOOKED it to the theater that was playing the miraculous movie and although I can barely understand a word of french the animation was expressive enough for me to still have some thoughts though I’m sure they are limited without proper access to the dialogue (so keep that in mind if you care about spoilers lol) anyway I need a place to put all this so here we go (in no particular order):
- I completely forgot this was a musical until the first song played and so did everyone else in the theater based off their groans of indignation
- basically every time they started singing the whole theater groaned very loudly and it almost got annoying but that could be cause I can’t judge the songs properly yet as I literally don’t understand them
- they also groaned and laughed a lot whenever adrien was getting emotional which????? made me annoyed because he’s one of the few boys in popular media who is shown to be soft and emotional as a strength and honestly the movie just turned it around and played it for jokes and it lowkey pissed me off
- they played careless whisper twice during scenes where adrien is simping too hard and a lot of people found it funny but I thought it was weird and uncomfortable but maybe that’s just me
- oh and about the songs whoever the singer is for Marinette does NOT sound like the regular speaking voice actor and it sticks out like a sore thumb
- again this could be because I’m missing out on the dialogue but I fear some people on tumblr were right when predicting this interpretation of Marinette :/ her only personality traits are being clumsy, being anxious, being bullied, being friendless, basically being like Bella Swan which no disrespect to Twilight fans but I MISSED my Marinette :( the thing I love most about her is how absolutely batshit insane she is and how good of a leader she is and how even the things this movie portrays are almost coded like ADHD and an actual anxiety disorder in the show not just an “uwu sad I’m not like other girls” trait
- also while I’m complaining I’m so sad they didn’t delve more into some of the side characters from the show like I would’ve loved for the movie to focus on the OG team of Carapace, Rena Rouge, Queen Bee with the main two or even just if it has a side plot with Luka or something it would’ve been nice but I also kinda get it because a movie has significant less time than a show to go into stuff like that
- also Alya and Nino’s relationship was so botched too because Nino is like a blubbering mess around her which??? the whole point of their relationship is how Nino realizes he likes and then loves Alya because he DOESN’T stutter around her like he did when he had a crush on Marinette and it’s supposed to provide this parallel to Marinette to show how being in a relationship can be steady and calm but whatever I guess we don’t care about any of the side characters now
- anyway Tikki raps at one point and for that alone I think Jeremy Zag should be arrested
- GABRIEL HAD LONG HAIR WHEN HE WAS YOUNG AND HE LOOKS SO STUPIDLGJF
- someone on Letterboxd called Adrien a wattpad bad boy again idk if that’s true cause I didn’t understand the dialogue but pls keep it in mind as you watch it
- a lot of people are praising the animation and on the one hand I think it’s earned because oh my god the action scenes are BEAUTIFUL but on the other hand the characters sometimes have this weird flat, lifeless vibe to them like a character from an illumination movie and idk it was weird
- granted the flat lifeless vibe could’ve been from the weird editing there was such a lack of establishing shots for so many scenes it made me disoriented about where a character was or what they were doing
- also the director refuses in every scene with Marinette and Alya talking to frame them in any interesting environments or angles ever it’s always the same flat and boring shot where they face the front like a sit com character
- anyway the third act was the best because it’s basically all actions scenes and it looks fucking fantastic 😌
- THE AKUMAS WERE SO GREAT I LOVED SEEING THEM EVERUTIME THEY WERE ON SCREEN AHHHHHFH
- even Gabriel looked less ugly in his Hawkmoth mask believe it or not
- I think there’s a chance ladynoir stans might have a good time with this cause there’s a lot of scenes with that dynamic even if it is offset by musical numbers
- sometimes the animation for musical numbers was very very or pretty and sometimes it felt pretty corny which
- made me think that this could’ve been a better 2D animated film since they’re clearly trying to pull a Disney 2.0 Electric Boogaloo with this film (but I might be biased since I had just watched across the spiderverse for the third time like 3 minutes before watching this)
- but they never delved into any of the world building like ever :/ like they never really show anything about how the powers work so nothing is ever established and they don’t even show all the powers!!!! Marinette doesn’t even use her lucky charms once!!!!! wtf dude
- when Marinette meets Adrien for the first two seconds it’s cute but quickly I got annoyed because they didn’t have her start off disliking him because she thinks he’s like Chloe like they did in the show and I feel like that’s such an important part of their relationship that they just completely ignored
- sorry adrienette stans most of their scenes are just lumped together in a montage lmao
- rip stans for other sides of the lovesquare they don’t get any screen time I’m sorry y’all
-although the end scene being presumedly a school dance is dumb and cliche and way too American for a French movie I did love Marinette’s dress I think it’s very beautiful (though buggachat’s ballgown in beau is still my favorite)
- I swear to god I think the animators made a reference to the joker dancing on stairs scene in one of gabriel’s musical numbers but I could’ve imagined it it was so quick
- also the ending felt very weird maybe I’m too used to fandom interpretations where Gabriel and Adrien being revealed to each other is super angsty lmao but it really did feel too happy of an ending like I genuinely don’t know if this is realistic for the characters
- or maybe it is but it’s just realistic for worse versions of the characters !!! because although this could be cause I missed all the dialogue but I swear gabriel doesn’t come off as abusive as he is in the show he just kinda gives off the vibe of a regular bad father which is super lame because that’s another part of the show that I think is super interesting
- also I swear to god I think the themes of emotional maturity and processing your emotions in general are just??? not there???? I’ll have to update y’all after I watch it in English but I swear???????????
- this really does just feel like a miraculous version of the mario movie it’s like all the life of the original is sucked out of it and is replaced by hollow references and an implication that the audience already understands everything because they watched the show so the filmmakers don’t have to explain anything which??? bad film makers bad *sprays with a water bottle*
- and listen I get that it’s an adaptation and it’s not possible for it to include EVERYTHING from the show but I was at least hoping for the same heart and/or a different take on the concept but that’s not what this felt like it felt too cheap and corporate and american (derogatory) to even really try
anyway those are just my thoughts and opinions and I am very open to all of them changing once I watch this in a language I actually fully understand but until then WATCH ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE (unless you have light sensitivity issues then pls don't cause I don't want you to die ily) ok I’m gonna go shower now bye

Knighted- Chapter 9
You mean that fic you started in 2017 and update once every few years??? Yeah that one. I'm so sorry, lol If you need to re-read heres all the chapters. Royal Guard!Nino and Princess! Alya
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6  Chapter 7, Chapter 8
There was never a more agonizing 35-40ish seconds of waiting in all his life. The amount of time from Nino confirming his fears of Alya’s disappearance and the replacement guard for the night to arrive was seemingly infinite, and certainly enough time for him to imagine the absolute worst.
The likelihood of her being in any kind of danger yet from anything other than him was practically non-existent. She was in an incredibly well guarded castle with guards of all kinds on nearly every exit and any man in the castle who could gain something from harming her would have no reason to do it yet. A ransom was better sat on for a while, but in a way this fear was ridiculous. She was in her own home, but the reason behind her being restricted in her movements at all was because of the vast number of visitors the castle was currently entertaining. Every stuffy, important council member came with an entourage of their own guard, and the individual intentions and loyalties of these men could not possibly be fully screened. So as an added precaution against threats the King commanded the guard to oversee the restricted activities of his daughters, specifically Nino. He had specifically commanded Nino to oversee this exact task, and yet.
Here he was.
Nino left in what was surely a suspicious hurry, but for the first time the complete disrespect of the senior guards actually worked in his favor. The very instant the night guard replacements started to crest the final step, Nino was in motion. His gate was one fraction shy of far too fast as he desperately scanned the area and tried to determine the most likely path for a stubborn, bull-headed princess to flee, and he considered his options as they occurred to him.
He could feasibly A) alert everyone of her disappearance to best ensure her return and basically hand his job over as he did so.
B) Tell no one and fail to find her, and for his failure basically hand his job over anyways,
Or C) try and make it look like he wasn’t there at all when she went missing and hope no one clarifies the timeline.
Now C wasn’t genuinely an option, he knew he’d have to take responsibility no matter what nor would he want to sacrifice the other guards to save his own skin, regardless of their treatment of him. They may be sordid old men but he was not… even if this would cost him everything, he would do what was honorable.
But he’d much prefer to do no such thing, and just get her back in her damn room without anyone noticing at all.  In reality, all the guards had a lot to lose from letting her slip by, so if they were smart they’d just shut the hell up about the whole thing.
Or sell him out to ruin him.
Nino shook his head, trying to clear his rapidly spiraling thoughts and do his job. He couldn’t worry about himself, he had to worry about her. Taking care of the princesses was his job, and he was going to do that whether they liked it or not. The twins may be his main charge, but he also had a responsibility to Alya.
With that in mind, he got to work.
He descended the stairs nearest to the royal chambers quickly, knowing these passageways were largely reserved for servants. At these hours they would be growing sparse for the night, long laborious chores carried out near firelight likely claiming the bulk of the workforce’s attentions. The staircase itself bottomed out into a sheltered flat space, and though he noted there were guards pacing the area, a quiet, witty girl could still possibly get through. If she had managed to slip such a densely guarded hallway, he had no reason to doubt her infuriating tenacity.
Nino looked around, making assessments such as these to rapidly decide which ways she couldn’t go, and breaking down the search from there. Her goal was undoubtably to slip out of the castle all together, meaning she had only one real option, which was the main gate. To go anywhere else would require keys she did not have and patience she likely lacked. The path down to the courtyard from the royal chambers was winding, and he was infinitely grateful that he was not slowed down in the way she probably was. He could traverse hallways in a fraction of the time she could, and to be honest, he felt a subdued sort of giddy feeling at that.
He was a royal guard. While in full armor and in high attendance to the royal family he was permitted nearly everywhere with few exceptions. While it might look suspicious for him to loudly clank his way into a hallway, stare every guard in the eye before whirring around and vanishing down a side passage, he wasn’t actually doing something he wasn’t allowed to.
Nino slid into a dim corridor, which was quite the feat in metal boots to be honest (and fairly loud), and quickly accessed his surroundings, his heart sinking to see no guards in sight. He was near the bottom now and this would soon let out into the courtyard, these storage rooms holding nothing of value that needed to be locked away or looked after. She’d have a dead sprint from here to the open night, and she had quite a lead on him. If he had even correctly guessed her path, he reminded himself. However, his pessimism warmed just slightly as he looked to the end of the corridor.
The door leading out into the courtyard was ever so slightly ajar, the torch light of a passing patrol illuminating the dark stone of the wall. Nino’s pulse quickened as he approached, regretting his noisy entrance now and approaching the door quietly. Surely, he had paced her… surely she hadn’t made it so astonishingly far, but he knew better than to underestimate her.
His heart was racing as he reached for the door, waiting until the torch light faded before slowly pushing it outward, just enough to see.
From his nearly crouched position what he could primarily see was flowers. They were all garish, exotic flowers, the big kind that had unnaturally vibrant colors and attracted flies and beetles. They were foreign though, and he assumed they must be a symbol of wealth of some kind. The kingdoms natural flowers were certainly more pleasant, but rich folk didn’t always care for that sort of thing, which is why this garden wound its way all beneath the guest chambers high above. This garden, the West Garden, was not the one known to be tended to by the Queen (likely why it was so unpleasant up close) but it looked extravagant from a distance he was sure. The stalks were thick and the creeping plants were tall, a suitable place to hide, if not to take your daily strolls.
Nino entered the garden as quietly as possible, closing the door behind him to mimic how he had found it. His body was tense and he could feel his own panic building, doubting himself still and wondering if he was just wasting time. If he was wrong about this he’d have to explain why he waited so long to say anything, he’d be fired but even worse she could get hurt. Worse than anything the princess could be putting herself in danger, and he needed-
He stilled.
Ahead of him by forty yards or so in this long, stinking garden was a subtle flash of movement, amidst a particularly thick row of bushes.
His breath caught as the movement flashed again, and he saw the unmistakable white hem of a dress drag against the ground. He could hardly see her she was crouched so tightly in the dark, but her fidgety movement gave her away. She hadn’t seen him yet, overly confident in the path she had taken and focusing only on the path again.
He made the critical mistake of looking away, leaning out a bit to get a look at what she was so focused on. As he did so he saw to the edge of the garden and further still, out across the bare cobbled ground of the courtyard. Appropriately, a patrol of four guardsmen were passing them by, their torches flickering with their steps. They were headed towards the main gate still far in the distance, and as he assessed it, he saw a shape dart through the dark.
He turned to look as a woman ran, attempting he figured in some way to look casual, if anyone could look casual while clearly trying to evade notice. The unseen guardsmen manning a blind spot she hadn’t accounted for shouted out in surprise as she tried to cling to the darkness of the wall, and she only dared a handful more steps before the patrol turned to look.
Nino looked on in horror as the princess was caught, guards quickly turning to attention and hurrying towards her. It was a fool’s plan and doomed for failure but he couldn’t help the way his heart sank with her posture. Alya stilled… and quieted, refusing to move at first. He could see it even at a distance, as he hurried to stand and stumbled forward.
He could see how straight her back became, how resigned her posture appeared.
He didn’t have a plan as he approached them, hustling now as he saw her fist ball up in the fabric of her dress. He had a lot of things to say but didn’t have the faintest idea what kind of order to put them in.
So the first thing he settled with was a lie.
“Hold on! Hold on, it’s alright! She’s with me.”
Nino stiffened under their gaze, a crowd of armored men turning to look at him in surprise. He wasn’t sure how he appeared but didn’t have the time to worry about it, floundering slightly as Alya herself turned to regard him.
He hesitated for possibly a moment too long as he finally joined the group, gesturing to the princess. “She is with me. Um… her highness, she requested a walk before she retired for the night. A bit of fresh air. Um,” he wavered, desperately trying to sound flat and orderly as Alya gave him an incredulous look. “I was trailing behind at her request, so she could have some space. I’m sure you thought she was out here alone but, clearly, that is not the case. Because I am here with her.”
There was a beat of silence.
“So all is well,” he concluded, hot panic settling on his shoulders as the men looked between themselves. He saw some kind of expression flicker across Alya’s face that he didn’t quiet catch, deciding in a moment that that was probably for the best. The silence was tense, before finally, gratefully, Alya cleared her throat.
“Yes… that is the case. I just wanted to have a bit of time in the courtyard, that’s all. This kind guard agreed to accompany me. I apologize if I frightened you somehow, I know I can walk… briskly.”
As she said this she moved slowly to his side, the awkwardness of the whole encounter starting to get to them.
“Ah, well… it’s quite alright, your highness,” the guard who spotted her finally relented. He shot Nino a weird look which Nino only matched with a nod.
“It’s getting late your highness,” Nino said pointedly, glancing to the side at her. She was looking up at him thanks to their somewhat significant height difference, and he did his best to keep his tone neutral. “Is that enough fresh air for one night?”
Alya tensed and let out an audible exhale, clearing her throat again and flattening her dress. As he turned to look at her more fully he noticed her slyly scraping some dirt from her shoes, her tone stilted as she said, “Yes, I should think so. If you could please return me to my room.”
“As you wish,” was his only reply, relieved as the other men began to drift away.
Alya turned quickly on her heel, brushing past him and walking without further prodding towards the closest entrance. He couldn’t quite place the feeling in his chest as they headed for the steps, noticing that she was stubbornly refusing to look at him at all for a while.
He was struggling with what he thought of it as they entered the hallway, starting the walk back through familiar walkways with no commentary.
When she finally looked back at him her face was full of something like embarrassment and stubbornness, and he could not help himself as he settled on at least one of the things he was feeling.
He was feeling smug.
"I wasn't-"
"Oh, I’m sure you weren't."
"I was just-"
"Of course."
"I was going to-!"
"Surely your highness," he quipped with a note of finality, surprised at his own boldness but unable, truly unable to help himself. He couldn’t deny his irritation, relief a prominent feeling as well. And smugness, there was definitely smugness.
She huffed, facing forward again and marching quicker. He wasn’t going to complain for that, and even if he was still wise enough to have a chill up his spine for upsetting her he had reason enough to believe she wouldn’t have him hanged for a little back talk.
Get him hanged for losing her though, that surely she failed to consider.
She had set the pace sharp and fast, probably eager to be rid of him, but as they got nearer to her room her steps slowed. She dropped back a little, like she was trying to drag it out, and as she did… his stomach sank a little.
He felt like he was marching her to prison.
He was trying to rationalize with himself that he was just doing his job, when suddenly he heard her speak, so quietly he almost missed it.
“The poppies are going to die soon.”
“Your highness?” he asked, trying to step closer but she stayed ahead of him, looking away.
“The poppies in the field,” she replied, just as quiet. “They’ll be gone within a week. I was just…”
When she didn’t finish, their steps were the only thing he could hear. He struggled with what to say, that sinking feeling changing into something else that was harder to name. Something near to guilt but… smothered by his responsibility. He tried to speak, but she didn’t look at him, and he didn’t know if he was supposed to.
His nerves at what to do reached a breaking point as they finally neared the royal chambers, Nino actually starting to feel a bit sick. He internally berated himself for panicking but, he couldn’t help it. He could tell from Alya’s stilted steps that she too was feeling anxious, but at their approach rather than the silence. Neither of them knew exactly what they were going to say next.
His jaw was taut as the time was lost to him. They cleared the final step, and all too soon he was forced to step up to face it head on.
As they approached the guard did as they were trained to do and turned to appraise whomever was seeking access. However, what they certainly did not expect to find was someone who was, as far as they were aware, already inside.
There was an audible sound from every guard gathered, all six men tensing when they saw the eldest princess standing stiffly. She had her head held high and her chin up as they strangled out a gasp of sorts, the most shocked coming from the two most panicked personal guards Nino had ever seen.
“Wh- y- your highness!”, one of her personal guards shouted, looking at his partner, and then at the door they were guarding, and then back to the princess. “You weren’t-,”
“Princess!”
“Lahiffe!” barked a guard, “What is the meaning of this?”
The men all took a step forward, Alya’s two guard’s descending on them quickly as Alya held herself straight, prepared to try and regain control but feeling caught out. Nino instinctively took a step forward, not even considering the possible ramifications of doing so but choosing to put Alya behind him as the men moved towards her. He could clearly see the flash of rage in their expressions when he did it, but Nino was too on edge to care, bolstered in his stance when he felt Alya take a step behind him.
“Well- I just-” Alya began, taking a deep breath to defend herself to the crowd,
when suddenly everyone’s blood ran cold.
At the pointed sound of a door opening.
Alya and Nino both paled in horror as her royal highness, the Queen of Aquitani stepped from her room, every man frying on the spot as she abruptly entered a situation they had no grasp on. The men were reeling from the moment as it was, and suddenly before the Queen?
Nobody knew what the hell to do.
Marlena took an innocent step forward, obviously having been wrapped up in her own thoughts as she stepped out of her chamber. She didn’t look up at first as she assessed some scroll of paper she held in her hands, only looking up to find the nearest guard when she was satisfied with the message she had prepared.
What she hadn’t been expecting, was to find six fully armored men scattered about the hallway and not at any of their posts, looking desperately caught out with her daughter staring wide-eyed at her from behind a seventh guard who looked like he was going to pass out.
Marlena took a moment to look between them all, before straightening up and settling on her daughter. “Alya, what is this? Care to explain?”
The silence, for a moment, was deafening, every man gathered rising to complete attention and clinging to their formal training for some clue of what to do here. Nino did not miss four of the guards subtle attempt to get back to where they were supposed to be, no doubt hoping to blend in to the scenery itself and leave the situation to the morons that were involved in it. As the slunk back to their spots as professionally as possible Nino had just enough time to lock eyes with Alya’s two personal guards.
The message was clear.
‘Don’t do it boys. Don’t fucking do it.’
Alya cleared her throat unsteadily, fixing a smile to her face as she stepped out around Nino, staying close to his side however as she greeted her mother.
“Mother! Hello, I hope we weren’t disturbing you, no everything’s alright. I just, I wanted to see how to twins were uh, behaving! I had heard them getting loud and wanted to make sure they were behaving for their guard but I knew if I said something in front of them they'd deny it and Nino, their guard" she prefaced, unsure if her mother remembered his name and gesturing to him awkwardly, "He might not want to say, in front of them. so I  uh, I..." Alya stalled, losing momentum underneath her mother’s withering gaze. She looked to the side at Nino, and to his horror he realized he was expected to help lie.
To the QUEEN.
Nino floundered for a moment, standing up as straight as he could as he said, “Um, your Majesty. The princess called me out briefly at the end of my shift, to discuss the twins. I was um, debriefing her on their behavior at her request- which is why we are out here… in the hallway.”
“Yes,” Alya quickly agreed, nodding confidently, and giving her mother a warm smile. Her personal detail were sweating bullets as they spoke, trading a glance between each other, and looking uncertainly again to Nino. He gave them the exact same expression as before.
‘Don’t do it.’
There was an awkward beat for a moment before Alya said, “How are you mother? Doing well?” And another cheesy smile.
“Hm,” was all Marlena replied at first, narrowing her eyes slightly and looking to the other two guards who hadn’t managed to fade away as convincingly as the others. “Is this the truth?”
Everyone in the hall felt cold as ice, every man here having a choice to make. To tell the truth would put them all at risk of punishment, or even reassignment. Regardless of whatever it was that the new guy had pulled off they were all present for when she must have gotten past them and they were all liable for her well-being. But she was FINE and she was here, and the new guy had somehow fixed it, so the only thing the truth would get them was trouble. All the men gathered could practically feel this sentiment radiating out of the commoner guard, standing tall (if a bit pale) and taking a ridiculous gamble to keep his job. And really, wouldn’t any man do the same if in the end it was no harm done?
The personal detail traded one last glance between them before turning towards the queen, both of them nodding obediently in confirmation.
“Yes your Majesty,” they both echoed, Marlena quirking an eyebrow but making no comment at first.
The queen looked between all who were gathered, squaring her daughter with a serious look, before finally she relented.
“Very well then. My day was fine sweetheart, and while I’m happy to see you minding the girls you should be getting some rest.”
“Yes of course mother, I was just going to bed.”
Alya gave a tight curtsy to her mother out of respect, the guards present giving their finest bow. The Queen turned to give one of her own guards her message, and Alya began to head for her room without further prompting. Her guards escorted her a bit more firmly then was completely necessary, but she allowed it without complaint.
Nino lingered, looking quickly between the Queen and Alya’s retreating form, but the princess was almost completely obscured by the guards who quickly ushered her away. She was lost from sight behind shining armor and stiff formalities, until abruptly the door was shut, and he was out of place.
It took only a few more seconds before the glare of the guards started to pressure him to leave, the panicked energy of the two guards who almost lost it all being converted into postures more befitting a pair of statues. Still though, Nino found himself staring at the heavy oak door… before leaving with what he might have said stuck in his chest.
With his station replaced he had no reason to stay and doing so any longer than he had would surely draw the attention of the queen again, so leaving was the only smart thing to do. It was the ONLY thing to do, because that was his job.
So why then, did he feel choked?
Nino hurried down steps, anxiety creeping up his arms and making him eager to get to his quarters. Before he had been tired, but now he was alive with nervousness. His smugness was as dead to him as his weariness, and the only thing he could think of was the princess.
There had been no closure, everything had happened too fast. Yet he ran through it in his head and it all felt like years apart.
He had meant to be playful, in a way. He had felt smug catching her as he did (or rather catching UP to her) and was foolish enough to tease her in what little ways he could. But her embarrassment in the hallway had been real, and while she had nearly cost the livelihoods and careers of every man in the wing, he too had caused her some humiliation. Not to mention the comment she had made about the poppies… the quiet whisper of her voice…
Now if all things were equal, what she had done was far worse than any transgression from him. Yes he’d caught her out and made an awkward moment for her, but she seemed to have no understanding of the kinds of consequences her actions could have on others. There is no reason they all should have had to lie to keep their jobs, she shouldn’t have been trying to lose them their jobs in the first place!
So maybe that’s what he was feeling? Angry? He mulled it over as he quickly stepped to the side, narrowly avoiding a train of servants toting sheets and blankets.
He clung to the corner and rounded the final rung towards the guards quarters, but before he could cross any real distance the thought was mostly gone from his mind.
No, he decided as he entered the empty common area, he wasn’t angry.
Well maybe he could be, he was irritated but he could understand it from her perspective too. Brief though their interactions had been Nino didn’t truly believe that Alya was trying to harm anyone. If anything she probably had some far flung reasoning that escaping meant SHE was clever, not that THEY were incompetent. And that’s all well and good if that’s what she believes, but in the scheme of things that doesn’t really matter.
Nino allowed himself a heavy sigh, surprised to find himself alone for a change in his tiny, shared room. He was free to disrobe noisily, and for a moment he was tempted to let his armor all crash to the ground, but of course he didn’t do that. He took the weight of each piece into his hands, dusted them off, and set to cleaning them each one by one. Even as he engaged in this nightly ritual he found that buzzing, choking feeling in his chest hadn’t subsided, and the feeling he was grappling with remained frustratingly nameless.
It wasn’t his place to judge a princess, and certainly not to assume her thoughts or intentions. He thought he’d make a pretty poor attempt at it if he even tried, but still. Her actions were a little thoughtless, it may have been some kind of game to her but it wasn’t a game to them. Didn’t she understand that they were all just doing their jobs? The people who guarded her with their lives were not babysitters to be slipped or enemies to overcome. Each and every one of them had sworn fealty to her family name.
His hands slowed over the pauldrons of his armor, examining the warped reflection of his own face in the dim of the room. After a beat he rolled it between his hands, tracing the less refined interior of it . Because things always looked a little less refined on the other side…
He could sympathize with her frustration. Hadn’t he given the same grace to the twins earlier that day? And every day since he’d been charged to them? They were restless and restrained, for their own safety yes, but he couldn’t imagine how maddening that was. If his whole life was in a small stone room, reading and waiting and sounding smart and waiting and looking right and waiting and waiting…
He hummed a little to himself, flipping the pauldron lazily and catching it again, examining what he could make out of the room around him in its face.
Okay so he understood, he wanted to make it better for her, but that didn’t negate the risk of what she did. What if she’d been lost? Or hurt? Kidnapped? He wished the world was safe enough, that she could be normal but that just wasn’t the case.
He sighed. The feeling in his chested ebbed a bit as he confronted what he was feeling as a mixture of irritation and regret. He would have risked just a little bit more if he could have smiled, or even traded a look.
He hoped she understood that he was sorry, in a way. As much as he could be. As much as was reasonable.
As he sat there in his half armor he let the pauldron droop in his hands… and he wondered how much more he could risk, to say what little he’d had no time to say.
----
The next morning, Alya lay awake in her bed but left her eyes closed. She knew it wouldn’t be long before she was ushered away. Today there were the departing arrangements for the guests of theirs who had traveled the furthest, and there were political farewells to be made. She’d be expected to attend their closing sentiments and stand smartly off to the side as they spoke with her father.
She waited dejectedly to be told to move, allowing her sullen mood to have her for awhile. She wasn’t one to wallow, she knew she would wake and shake it off and just get on with it… but for the moment she allowed it. Just for a moment.
When the door to her chambers opened, she didn’t have to look up to see who it was. And she also knew that this particular handmaiden was perfectly aware of the fact that she was awake, her subtle weight settling on the mattress near her feet.
Alya sighed before cracking an eye, rolling her head to look at her favorite maiden. The girl had always been a blessing to her and was among the very few she’d be bold enough to call her friend. For a princess was afforded so few of such a precious thing.
Marinette gave her an unimpressed look, raising an eyebrow before looking away in an attempt to hide her smirk.
“So,” she started plainly, smoothing out her simple dress. “I heard you had an unsuccessful escape attempt last night.”
Alya groaned immediately, rolling over to grab a pillow and slam it to her face in one motion. She could hear Marinette snort and she projected to be heard through the goose down. “WHY did the guards say anything?? I thought they weren’t going to say anything??”
Marinette leaned over to pluck a stray goose feather sticking out of the pillow and held it pinched between two fingers, allowing her highness a moment to thrash in embarrassment before continuing. “Well if it makes you feel any better I don’t think anyone other than me knows, if I wasn’t the gossip would be all over by now.”
Alya pushed the pillow back enough to glare at her, but Marinette remained annoyingly resistant to it. “Then how do YOU know?”
“I’m a special case.”
“Oh?” Alya glowered at her as the maiden seemed suddenly distracted by something, looking down at her apron before looking away again, an eager yet nervous smile on her face for some reason. By the time she looked back at her again, the giddiness was clear in her entire being and she was wiggling a little on the bed.
“Yes, cause you know I had needed an explanation. It looked VERY strange when I was approached this morning, especially with what he was asking me to do so obviously I made him tell me the whole story.”
She gestured to her apron pocket, and for the first time Alya noticed a small, folded cheese cloth just barely poking out.
“It would have been a bit suspicious otherwise” Marinette continued vaguely, almost too giddy to finish. “Had Nino just given me this with no explanation I could imagine it would look a little… out of place. Which is probably why he was completely flushed head to toe when he was telling it to me. He was very insistent that I reassure him it was perfectly appropriate, I think he might have bolted otherwise.”
At the mention of Nino’s name Alya sat up, leaning over to look a little closer at what Marinette was referring to but the maiden pulled away, probably to prolong the drama. The princess frowned then, a bit put out by the mention of the twins’ guard. He had protected her, lied for her even to get her out of trouble but…
She wavered, wondering what she was so annoyed about. She decided quickly it was at Marinette, who was dancing away from her now pulling a vase from a forgotten place on the wall.
“Oh get to the point! What did he say? What did he give you?”
Marinette grinned widely, setting the vase down on a nearby table but returning to her highness’s side to carefully pull the bundle from its place, handling it as if it were made of gold. “Oh nothing much…”
Slowly she extended the white cloth, bulky and loose as if surrounding something frail as Marinette explained, “He had wanted me to say for him that he was sorry for embarrassing you, he was just trying to do his job. And that he wanted me to give you this, before they were all gone.”
Finally she unfolded the cloth, gently, and the Princess looked down to see what had made her maiden so excited.
Alya froze, only her mouth moving as is parted in a silent gasp. She thought too her hand must have frozen, but after a time, her index finger reached out without her command to do so.
And stroked a single red petal, of summer’s last poppies.

Marinette meets a past Ladybug holder. Things don't go as planned.
Trigger Warnings in tags
Marinette's dreams have been odd lately.
She's in an odd fuzzy near sleep state before she drops.
Drops right from a fuzzy liminal space a dark void. Except voids shouldn't have floors. Voids shouldn't echo and their shouldn't be anyone else in them. Theirs a red spot somewhere on the horizon. She can't make out any features the closer she gets until one night the spot morphs into a person.
A ladybug; or more specifically, a Ladybug holder.
"H-hello?" She says, but the user doesn't turn. "U-um, L-Ladybug?"
The holder scoffs. "Try again, soldier."
"Um, I'm sorry I don't know-"
"Don't you ever say that again. To me, or yourself, and especially in the heat of battle, don't you ever let them question your control." The holder turns and Marinette's eyes widen.
Before her is a petite woman, no taller than her mom, with curly hair cut into a bob with one part of her bangs clipped back from her face. She bares a small cape in the shape of ladybug wings and thick pads of armor on her elbows and knees. Her eyes are brown and firm with determination and confidence, she can't be much older than Alya's sister, but with the way she carries herself you'd think she'd been arounds for decades.
"On and off the field I'm to go by the Red General. Nothing more nothing less. Are we clear?"
"O-oh, yes ma'am!"
The Red General nod and turned back around, fiddling with something she couldn't make out before screens shot up from below; footage of past battle surrounding them with the audio cut off.
"I'm here to talk about your performance on the field." The Red General says. "Past holders are too cowardly and forgiving to say anything, but I refuse to stand back and watch this mockery any longer."
"W-what are you-?"
"I'll only be saying this once, so be sure to take what I say to heart, understood?"
"..."
"I said, do you understand, soldier?" She repeat, eyes hardened.
"Y-yes, ma'am!"
"Good." The Red General pulls up footage she'd filed away. "Kuro Neko. A mess, an absolute failure of a mission with no redeeming qualities. Your partner made a fool of you and of your mission. He abandoned his post, gave the enemy a weapon of mass destruction, left said weapon on a civilian rooftop for anyone to carry, and had the audacity to play victim. And what did you do, soldier?" She asked. "Through all of that unnecessary drama how did you respond?"
"I-I apologized because-"
"Because what, soldier? Because you felt bad for him? Because you felt guilty for ignoring him in the line of duty? You reward him for throwing a temper tantrum and allow his unprofessional and disrespectful behavior to continue?"
"That's not far, Plagg-"
"Plagg is a immortal entity that has no concept of running an army let alone a team of heroes against a terrorist. He had to right giving you orders like that and you had no reason to yield to his demand. Do not become some Gods plaything."
She took a step forward and on instinct Marinette stepped back, somehow feeling pressed against a wall by her gaze.
"You have been entrusted with beings of vast unimaginable power. You make the calls. Do no sit back and allow them to disrespect you like this. In my army it was ship up or ship out. You earned your miraculous and at a moments notice that privilege can and will be taken away the second you prove yourself unworthy. I've sat by and watched countless Ladybug holders navigate the trials that come with yielding such power, but I refuse to sit by and watch you bend and fold to such injustice."
The Red General stepped once more, but Marinette couldn't find it in her to step back, locked in place by the commanding air surrounding the holder.
"My time has passed. I have no intentions of returning to the field. My troops, my comrades, my friends are waiting for me beyond this world, but mark my words, if you continue on this path towards self destruction, you won't have to worry about the pressure of the ladybug miraculous much longer. Are we clear?"
Marinette nod.
"Good. Then at ease, soldier. It's time to wake up."

Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Reviews Episode 3-23: Felix
Ah, yes. PV Adrien. Except not really. And he knows he wasn't created the usual way but that's for later seasons or something. You ever think about how Felix with the Black Cat Miraculous would be Felix the Cat? I think of that constantly.
Does anyone have a scan of that bar of Marinette and her classmates that scrolls up quickly in the title sequence? Thanks in advance.
*Puts a wedding/magic ring around my basically dead wife*
Yippee! Natalie and Adrien smiling and waving at eachother!
Yippee! Communication between father and son!
Damn. One measily year? Really shows how short of a time Ladybug and Chat have been out for. Puts her KOing some time in Late April or Early May too based on my calendar for Miraculous.
EVERYONE IS HERE!
The Amelie reveal was pretty fun, honestly. Also they know damn well Adrien and Felix are clones.
Ring drama. Ring drama.
Yes! The perfect thing to say! Confess to him! Rip off the band-aid!
So does Felix dislike Adrien because he's servile to his father? Shouldn't he hate Gabriel instead then?
Why is Felix such an asshole? Why does he hate everyone? For what reason? Just because they weren't created by the Peacock Miraculous? Where were the other video messages?
Luka being amazing as always. Fine with whoever Marinette ends up with but will be there if she's alone. That's why he's the GOAT.
Natalie's still siding with Hawkmoth and is happy to akumatize people. Points docked.
Here comes the disrespect. How come Hawkmoth can just do personalized akumas instead of akuma groups? And why those old models? Oh right. Budget.
Love me a clone gun conundrum!
Natalie fighting off the Akumas on her own. Credit where it's due, swag.
Oh. That's who's who. In hindsight I should've checked the rings.
Seriously? Sexually harassing the woman trying to save you?
Bro's literally risking the apocalypse for Gabriel's rings. You won't be free if you're erased from reality alongside literally everything else.
So Hawkmoth can just ventriloquist through his akumas now? And they no longer have vengeance for Felix?
Oh hey! Someone getting properly punished for their actions and realizing they were at fault completely! Hopefully! I'm sure this will keep on happening, at least for Felix!
*Steals your ring*
He's so mad about it too lmao
I'm glad I got to see Luka. And Kagami for a split second. Also Felix is definitely an interesting character, to say the least. Was the "posing as evil Adrien" thing supposed to help Adrien in the long run? Was this all one big long master plan? How far down does the rabbit hole go?

Indeed, Astruc's idealization of Adrien, bordering on perfection, seems to mirror the pedestal on which the fandom often places him. It's a bit ironic, given the sarcastic undertones, especially when compared to other characters in isekai harem anime or shonen manga, such as those in Naruto. In those cases, fans actively advocate for character development and potential, cheering for the female leads. Adrien, on the other hand, is almost comically devoid of agency – a situation that borders on the absurd as he doesn't even get to cheer among the finale battle no... he's just taken out of it.
These female characters cater to their, admittedly, lustful and rather pathetic protagonists in a genre often criticized for its saturation with the male gaze and the objectification of women. What's noteworthy is that, despite these criticisms, their fandoms actively advocate for the characters' development and agency. Now, enter Adrien, a character in a cartoon ostensibly centered around girl power, and one might expect a departure from such issues. Instead, it appears they've taken a detour in the opposite direction. It struck me that in a narrative where Adrien's story, from season one onwards, revolves around unwittingly battling his villainous father, he's left with little more than a footnote at the end. In contrast, every other character, be it Marinette, Felix, or even Kagami, receives substantial contributions to HIS storylines. It's a realization that prompts the question of whether the writers are intentionally steering Adrien's narrative into this peculiar direction.
I firmly believe that the writing team is purposefully sidelining Adrien from the central narrative to prevent him from overshadowing Marinette because that would encourage the fandom to perceive him as an individual character, distinct from his connection with Marinette.
From the very onset in season one, Adrien has been crafted primarily as eye candy—acknowledged within the story's universe, yet that's where his depth seems to end. Even when it comes to profound moments, such as mourning his mother, those experiences are often usurped by characters like Gabriel and Nathalie. His discontent with the new dynamics introduced by Ladybug is addressed with mere lip service, and the problem conveniently dissipates with minimal exploration. What's particularly disheartening is the disproportionate focus on Marinette's distress in Chat Blanc, while Adrien's perspective is seemingly sidelined. The chilling realization of witnessing another version of oneself succumb to a dire fate. It's baffling and, frankly, another distressing thing is that Felix, of all people, stumbles upon Amelie Agreste's body, while Adrien is kept in the dark about the whole situation. He seems unable to catch a break; someone else steps into his central role, yet he remains excluded from active participation in his story.
Alya, who has been part of the team for a shorter duration, receives more favorable treatment than the guy constantly confronting akumas since the start. It seems as if the protagonist believes he exists solely for that purpose, devoid of any personal life. The question arises: how can she be considered a "good" team leader when she consistently withholds important information from him? It's not just about preserving her secret identity; he has his own life and concerns that deserve acknowledgment.
While this could have been an opportunity for character development, it appears that in Season 4, Marinette's treatment is portrayed not as a flaw for her to address and improve upon, but rather as an acceptable stance. The show now seems entrenched in a protagonist-centered morality, where Marinette's actions are deemed right simply because she is the central character.
It appears that many in the fandom overlook the fact that Adrien has the choice to walk away from the situation rather than enduring constant disrespect and inconsideration. He not only bears the weight of being an abused child but also willingly sacrifices himself, all while grappling with the immense responsibilities of a job that befalls a mere kid. It's reasonable to feel apprehensive if your partner consistently withholds crucial information. In the realm of heroism, it's not a game; how can one be adequately equipped to be a proper hero if the other half is withholding information that could lead to dangerous consequences?
While we witness Marinette's struggles as a guardian, her point of view tends to dominate, creating a skewed perspective for the audience that might lead us to believe she has it the worst. Certainly, Marinette faces considerable challenges, and her difficulties are worthy of sympathy. However, the deliberate absence of Adrien's perspective leaves us unaware of his struggles. He seems to lack any substantial support, and beyond Plagg, there's uncertainty about who he can turn to. Despite being the one offering comfort most of the time, it raises the question of whether Marinette would reciprocate that support when Adrien is the one in need.
With Season 5 concluded and heroes now a permanent fixture, the possibility of them pursuing their own path becomes a valid consideration. Based on what I've observed, if Marinette struggles to handle just one Chat Noir, what about the rest of the team now that they're not just allies but officially permanent heroes? It appears her controlling nature might lead to a downward spiral in the face of this expanded responsibility.
When I mention the comparison between the fanbase and Astruc, I'm highlighting the consistent scrutiny Adrien undergoes. Astruc's portrayal of Adrien tends to revolve around catering to Marinette, and it seems the fanbase mirrors this perspective. Even in Season 5, everyone, both within the story's universe and among the viewers, appears to be an Adrienette shipper. It's as if the characters' sentiments reflect the sentiments of the fanbase itself.
Witnessing the frenzy and prolific fic-writing sparked by one episode where Adrien doles out sensible advice to Marinette, one can't help but wonder how intense the reaction would be if Adrien were to nonchalantly distance himself or engage in actions that don't align with her desires. It's as if there's an aversion to embracing Adrien's genuine flaws—apparently, the mandate is for him to exist solely to be with Marinette, with everything else relegated to secondary status. Any deviation from this ideal, it seems, is met with a virtual arsenal of pitchforks.
I could never embrace this ship from the jump; it's glaringly one-sided with nothing reciprocated from Marinette and Adrien seemingly giving away too much. The purported power of love in the theme song seems like a facade; there's a stark lack of equality in this relationship. My boy Adrien appears to be a puppet with strings, transitioning from his father's domination to now being handed over to Marinette as if he's a prize worthy of her affections. He'd chip part of away of himself for her and she'd smile and I dislike it immensely for how they portray it as true romance. I dislike her actions and her mistreatment that a fact.
I find myself straddling the line between indifference and frustration due to her actions and mistreatment of her partner. Indifferent because she fails to evoke any substantial emotional response or genuine concern from me compared to Adrien.Even if she were to shed tears, it wouldn't stir any emotion in me. I believe she has the potential to be an interesting character, but that possibility relies on the writers recognizing her mistakes and steering her character in a progressive direction. She seems more like a prop fed lines making my discontent directed more towards the writers for crafting her in such a way rather than at the character herself.

Ladybug is actually awful
Throughout the show of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir or whatever the full title is we see both main characters act kinda... not so great, but I maintain that the worst of the two, by far, is Marinette/Ladybug herself. Specifically in regards to being a partner to Char Noir.
Yes Chat has his own issues, mostly in terms of constant flirting and asking for a date despite being told no, but he is not nearly as bad as some people say he is.
Now ignoring things like not going to the date which was justified, the NY special thing and the trashcan incident which while not excusable were done in the heat of intense and stressful moments, there are still a LOT of things that Ladybug has done that could qualify as gaslighting, abuse of trust, and just straight up disrespect.
First up is the Grimoire, she never even tells Chat Noir it exists, and even if we say that only Guardians are allowed to read it she still doesn’t bother to tell Chat anything she learns from it that could affect him. I’ll put that as a minor infraction but it plays into some other things.
Second is how even when she learns-- via Alya’s outside perspective-- that the power of a Miraculous can be evolved, altered, and enhanced via imagination and doesn’t have to strictly follow it’s default she again never tells Chat Noir anything about it. Don’t say its a right of passage, she didn’t learn it herself either.
Third, Alya herself. Marinette tells her her secret ID and makes her a permanent holder in Gang of Secrets, but Chat isn’t told for twelve episodes-- a timeframe that is at least two weeks and is likely closer to two (one episode every three in universe days as a lowball still means five weeks) months-- and then only in the form of Ladybug being a no show for a fight and Scarabella taking her place. Now, even if you say there was ‘no way to tell Chat about Scarabella before Marinette had to leave to go to her aunt’s and she tried to get out of it!’ that one doesn’t track because she had time to call Alya, for Alya to go to the bakery, and for the hand off to happen but apparently not enough time to transform and leave a fifteen second voicemail, and two Chat should have been told about Rena being a permanent holder LONG before that because news flash, she is a BIG security risk seeing as Shadowmoth-- or Monarch-- knows her secret ID. Not telling Chat Noir was nothing but disrespect and showcasing distrust in her partner. Then she just gives a placating ‘I won’t abandon you’ to him and everything is all okay because Chat loves her and wants to believe her.
The last thing I’m going to bring up-- though its not the last instance to be found-- is her plan in Ephemeral. There is absolutely NO way to excuse that plan. She emotionally manipulates him and abuses his trust with the express intention of betraying any and all feelings he has for her. She literally uses the line that Chat would only ever give up his ID to her because he loves her. And the only reason she ‘doesn’t go through with it’ is either A) she finds out its Adrien and her simp mode activates so hard she can’t bring herself to react or give up his ID, or B) Time goes crazy and she loses her chance. So really she does go through with it, she did go through with it, and it should not be given a pass.
Ladybug is in fact a toxic partner to Chat Noir who does not respect him, only trusts him as far as using him as a meat shield or a distraction, and actively pushes him aside for practically an entire season before she is forced to start using him again because all the other heroes are no longer available.

Some static shock quotes with miraculous characters especially the science kids?
Ismael: Mutant? Now that's degrading.
Simon: You have a better word for it?
Ismael: I kind of like... meta-human.
-
Doctor: Do these changes involve another person?
Zoé: A lot of them.
Doctor: ... Does your father know what you've been doing?!
Zoé: What?! Whoa, Doc, we're talking about two totally different things here.
-
Akuma: You're that freak from TV!
Wyvern: You say freak, I say unique!
-
Wyvern: Lucky that water main was
Minnie: Uh, Wyern...? That wasn't a water main. It was a sewer line.
-
Nathaniel: What's that guy got that I don't have?
Alix: Let's make a list. Looks, height, all-state in track and field - shall I quit while you're behind?
Nathaniel: I thought we were tight, Alix.
Alix: We are bro, just keeping it real.
-
Nathaniel: Do you know what hanging with Marc Anciel is going to do to my rep?
Alix: Uh... Start it?
-
Simon: Where're you taking us, Aurore?
Aurore: Patience, we're almost there. It'll be easier when we're old enough to drive.
Denise: Hey, we could have gotten on my shield and flown.
Reshma: Well, no disrespect, but I've seen you fall off that thing.
Denise: One time, and they were shooting at me!
-
Ismael: You gotta be kidding me. You'd have to renovate before this place could even qualify as a dump.
Aurore Oh, come on, use your imagination; right now this place might be a broken down, rat-infested...
Jean: (interrupts) Rat-infested?!
Aurore: We'll get some traps. The point is, with a little work, this could be the nerve center of our entire superhero operation.
Simon: And what would we call it, the Abandoned Gas Station of Solitude?
Aurore: Ahh, that's funny.
Cosette: Hey, I'd have built us a tree house if I had a tree.
Lacey: I wish I could just go out and rent a decent headquarters, but that takes money.
Reshma: Nobody ever said the superhero gig would be a profit center.
Marc: Yeah, but it's costing me; I keep tearing my costume, melting my shoes.
-
Nora: *banging her hand on the locked bathroom door* Alya Ovid Césaire, get your ashy butt out here right this minute!
Alya: *unlocks the door and sticks her head out* Nora! My middle name is never to be spoken aloud, you know that! *sticks his bed back into the bathroom and slams the door closed*
-
Yvette: Don't you ever go home?
Zoé: *Cuddling with Cosette on the couch* I smell an insinuation.
-
Lapin: He even had purple skin and orange hair!
Rooster Bold: Ugh, Akumas. They just have no fashion sense.
-
Leonardo: You ok, sir?
Driver: You almost threw me into orbit! I was scared to death!
Leonardo: I'm sorry, but something's happened to my powers. They're way stronger than they used to be.
Driver: That so? Well, can you drop me off at 44th and 3rd?
Leonardo: Didn't you just say you were scared to death?
Driver: Yeah. But the traffic in this town is even scarier.
-
Lacey: This looks like a job for...
Jean: Don't finish that sentence, Lacey. Superman already owns the rights.
-
Reshma: You told them we were doing homework? On a Friday night?
Ismael: Think they won't believe me?
Reshma: No, they will, which doesn't say much for our social lives.
-
Fennec: Look, can we just talk for a sec'?
Evillustrator: No! Give it back! It's mine!
Fennec: Give what back? *Evillustrator prepares to attack* Wait?! Is this about that photo? HEY, you can have it back! Come on, Nathaniel. Chill out!
Evillustrator: You... You know my name?
Fennec: I found out from some people!.. People who care about you.
Evillustrator: Nobody cares about me!! *He hits her with some of his ink*
Fennec: Whoah! Come on slow down! I care... And I wanna help you... I know what you've gone through...
Evillustrator: How could you know...?
Fennec: Because... I lost my dad, too. *Evillustrator stops attacking. She returns his picture of Nathaniel and his father* I know how hard it is, how the pain never really goes away...
-
Zoé: That doesn't make any sense! Why am I changing now?! You all got your powers the day the lab exploded!
Simon: I don't know. Late boomer, maybe? I mean, others had delayed reactions.
-
Pluto: *admires herself in the mirror in her new uniform* Well? What do ya think?
King Cobra: I think you spend too much time in front of the mirror than Lemon Bee and Rooster Bold do! And that worries me.
Pluto: Now I just need to come up with a superhero handle. How about, Fido?
Minnie: Nope!
Pluto: Fluffy?
*Hamlet rolls his eyes*
Pluto: All I've got left is Pluto!
Minnie: Hey, as long as your costume doesn't match the character, you're good.
-
Caprikid: What? Afraid I'm gonna show you up again, rooster boy? Well, you can relax.
Rooster Bold: I am relaxed. You're the one jumpin' around like a demented cheerleader.
-
Pluto: Time we used Plan "B".
Bronco: Okay. What's Plan "B"?
Pluto: Stop using Plan "A".
-
Wyvern: Look at this; it’s a review of your debut.
Roi Singe: I don’t read reviews.
Wyvern: Don’t or can’t?
Roi Singe: Look I’m dyslexic all right. They put me in a special learning program. They showed me techniques.
Wyvern: Like what?
Roi Singe: A lot of stuff. You change words into something you can feel instead of looking at, but it takes patience. I could never sit still as a kid.
Wyvern: So you dropped out of the program?
Roi Singe: I felt dumb! Don’t tell anyone about this ok?
Wyvern: You’re not dumb! Look what you made of yourself. A hero. An athlete. But…
Roi Singe: But I messed up.
Wyvern: I was gonna say ‘But you can’t give in’. You said you can read, it just takes some work. Do the work.
-
Hamlet: Austin Tomassian, I'm glad to see you're ok.
Austin T: You can drop the act, Songbird.
Hamlet: You know?
Austin T: Wasn't hard to figure out. Why else kidnap me to get to Hamlet? And maybe, just maybe, in the back of my mind, I've always known.
-
Marinette: Is that... Marc?
Rooster Bold: Uh... You have to understand the most secret part of a superhero is their secret identity and, well, uh-
Lapin: Yeah, that's Marc.
Rooster Bold: Hi.
-
Alya: Look! It's the Miracle Squad!
Nino: And as usual, Mme. Mendeleieve's class is nowhere in sight... You don't think?
Alya: Nah. It couldn't be.

Class of Villainy - Bursting into Song
Inspired by a post by @artzychic27 about certain characters from the Heroverse bursting into song, here’s the same thing happening for some of the villains.
Ms. Mendeleiev: Alright kids, I know you’re probably just gonna ignore it anyway, but this following test is worth 20% of your grade, so be prepared.
(Ismael smiles and pounces up on the desk, causing the fairy godteacher to groan. An eerie green light fills the classroom, as wild hyenas burst through the door.)
Ismael:
BE PREPAARREEDDD!
(He begins laughing maniacally alongside his hyenas.)
Ms. Mendeleiev: Goddamn it...
(Max’s shenanigans cause a blackout in the school. Alya breaks out into a song and dance about it.)
Alya:
Snuff out the light, claim your right, to a world of darkness!
Nino: Babe, do you have to do this every time?
Alya: Don’t throw off my groove, babe!
(Nino and Denise are arguing about who’s the better con-artist.)
Nino: The only reason you can scam anyone is because of magic. All I need is charm and charisma, not some hoodoo shi-
Denise:
Don’t you disrespect me, little fox! Don’t you deregate or deride....
(They smile as their shadows surround the hybrid.)
Denise:
You’re on my turf now, not your turf... and I’ve got friends on the other side.
(Nino gulps as the shadow witch just laughs. They just so happen to be outside of Simon’s room, and the minister-in-training has been watching the whole time, clearly attracted by his partner’s words. He sweats and is blushing heavily.)
Simon: I... um... excuse me for a moment.
(He shuts the door, and somehow, a muffled pipe organ and ominous chanting is heard as Simon screams about his angst and love for Denise.)
Simon:
HELLFIRE! DARK FIRE! THIS FIRE IN MY SKIN!
This burning.... desire. Is turning me to sin!
(Denise just giggles at this, as Nino hurriedly rushes away from the madness.)
So what did you guys think? Alya’s song comes from a deleted scene, and it’s really good. Make sure to ask, reblog, and reply to lemme know. @artzychic27 and @msweebyness
