my 3-day-late April Fool's Day-inspired Ginhawk comic..I am so sorry about the delay and the quality of this...but anyway, I just spontaneously came up with this dialogue and really really wanted to make a short comic out of it 😳 so...yea! 💖✨💗

Also some notes:

-largely for comfort purposes as well ❤️ I offer this fluff to everyone here :3

-for tagging purposes, this is supposed to be like, set in canon 😳 trying not to bombard y'all with too much au art so...here's one more for the "canon" pile on my blog ig haha 😅✨

-I have like a whole set of rlly specific HCs that I'm physically restraining my self from typing up, but i will do so at a later time, watch me but anyway, one I tried to include here: Ginrai often fiddles with his over strap things...he just does sometimes....(Hawk thinks it's kinda cute)

-THE VEST ok I just (randomly) rlly wanted to pay tribute (/hj) to the random-ass model sheet that had a SWEATER VEST in addition to his regular outfit????

(this) so.....My guess is that it might have been a lining mistake (highly unlikely ngl) or simply an earlier design (damn, they stole Canon Sweater (Vest) Hawk from us 💀)....either way I wanted to include that here 😳 as for why it's blue, well...it's blue....just because 👍

-The tie's absence is on Purpose.

-Also some of the lineart and perspective is wonky because like.....artn't right now idk 😭 I'm tired and stressed, I guess I can't force it in the end... I'll keep at it tho :'D

-The overall idea here is that they're just chilling in nature; this is a pass time for them when they're not busy fighting or stressing about Stuff. Ginrai knows a lot of good places to walk/sit around and vibe :3

Thanks for asking again! I ended up writing quite a lot, so I'll add a read more after this! Sorry again if the formating is a bit wonky, I'm doing it from my phone. Let's go then~

Dalia and Kome:

I think they could get along great. Dalia likes strategy board games, chess in particular is one of her faves. Also, I feel like she'd want to play a board game that is half luck half strategy and try to use her wits to win against Kome's luck hahah

She would probably see through her mask as well, Dalia is really perceptive, but as long as she doesn't sense malice, she won't mind. Everyone has things they want to keep from others~

All in all, I think they'd get along as game buddies, at least!

Domas and Rubina:

Well, I have to start this saying that Domas likes pretty much everyone and is always friendly, it's not common that he dislikes someone from the get go hahah

He would definitely make some sweets for her if he thought she wanted some~ (he's better at cooking, but his baking skill is good too!). And they could chat while enjoying them~

And, if she talks about any of her investigations or cases, he'd gladly offer his help!! It's a really important thing she's doing!! But... Rubina might not want his help, because he gives the worst advice all the time (unintentionally lol). He would most likely point her in the completely wrong direction if she lets him help lmao

But yea, if she can ignore his nonsense, I think they could get along~

Szilárd and Carol:

Well, completely contrary to Domas, Szi doesn't like anyone at first lmao. And Carol is a human and, from what I got from reading her info, really talented and helpful with people. So, I have to say that Szi would not like her at all. He isn't fond of humans and, particularly, he's really bad with "talented people". He'd be quite mean with her for sure, always judging her and acting as if he were superior. He'd also think Carol is unworthy of Diasomnia at first and will openly say so.

But well, that's the Szi at the start of the plot. He does get a wake up call later and tries to mend his ways, be a bit nicer and social.

I did see Carol likes to read a lot, so that probably would be what would make them get along, if it were to happen. Szi reads everything as long as is good, so he'd always have recommendations and would welcome some from others too~

Dillon and Peko:

This boy is quite simple and doesn't think too much about anything akdndifn But I can say that if he sees Peko singing, he'd most likely try and join her hahah Even if he doesn't know the song, he'd just freestyle some chorus or he'd say "me next!" When she's done with one song and sing himself xD If Peko does play along and sing with him, he'd eventually learn her songs too and start singing those as well~

And, if to that you add Peko being nice to him, then he'd like her for sure. He's easily bribed with food too so, if she needed him to so something for her, that is the way lmao

So yea, they'll probably get along. At least from Dillon's perspective xD

what do u think about the camera guides sm made for nct 127 - sticker/aespa - savage? i know u talked a bit about it in ur ask about aespa and their performance as idols. but do u think it’s a better move that sm is doing this as opposed to current music shows and their wonky camera directions? music shows don’t do the best at capturing stages but i also felt like the camera guide for nct 127 was v odd… there were so many cuts in the beginning my head literally got dizzy for a moment and i had to click out. aespa’s wasn’t as bad and i liked it. and in all of sm-produced content for their savage stage they follow this guide.

oh yea 100% i think it's a better move. i think the sticker one is a bit rough around the edges still, but the compromise that the music shows came to was to have the general shape of the shots be the same with a few artistic liberties in places, and i think that's a good place to meet in the middle. it's the same with savage as well. i do think it is important to get some variation in there to avoid the stages all looking the same, but sm barely puts their groups on music shows so i think having a specific guide is a good idea, especially since sm has been going all in on this controlled-camera front. but this isn't the first time that sm has had a camerawork guide for one of their groups, this is just the first time they've officially released one. sm has been experimenting with camera focused choreography as far back as last year, with black mamba at first, and then very obviously with don't call me. dcm has a very specific choreo that in turn requires a very specific camera choreo to go with it. you can see it in the first stage i linked (which is sm-produced), but you can also see it here, here, here, here (this one has an especially long take), and here, three months later, as a few examples. in addition to this, inkigayo has started doing one take cam stages (and many other smaller performance platforms have popped up), which i think really highlights who and how companies are thinking about audience perspective and how the content is consumed. no longer are audiences in house, so they have to adapt how to show spectacle and human skill.

i find it very fascinating to compare the inkigayo one take sticker stage to the punch one, because it's very clear that although the choreo is multiperspective, they've also very clearly thought about placement of bodies in terms of line distribution and camera fluidity for sticker more (obviously also the cameraman gets better). i'd argue that almost every sm group comeback in 2021 has had the camerawork considered as a part of the choreo and has a significant portion of steadicam-specific choreo. nct dream's hot sauce, advice, next level, bad love, even don't fight the feeling. the most notable exceptions i can think of are queendom and maybe thank u; i suspect that yunho did not care for that since he was pouring all of his energy into the mv, but i'm not sure about queendom. and again, you can tell the difference in the rv choreo. and other groups have been catching on to various degrees of success. choreos are starting to reflect camera decisions rather than efficacy in live performances. obviously there are starting to be concerts now, but we are still a LONG ways away from being back at the full capacities of what this industry was before. it's been nearly two years, there has to be some kind of innovation in form or the industry will stagnate.

i know everyone is having fun shitting on sticker and savage but sm is now making it known that they're the ones willing to push doing wildly experimental performance work, which is the direction the industry is headed, whether we like it or not. the truth of the matter is two fold: kpop is now competing with western pop in the global music scene, and kpop fans are streaming music, not listening to it. and as we know, the western pop industry predominently music focused; there's very little left of the boy band influence and performance is relatively limited in both scale, creative scope, and opportunity. and this is the edge that kpop has - yes the groups make music, but the music is only one component in a form that is performance focused. and even then, the way kpop is produced is very different than western pop because it's significantly more experimental in sound, and it has been since it's inception. so, entertainment companies have pretty much one of two options: they can simplify their sound and try to have a go up against the western pop acts, or they can double down on the experimental roots and lean heavily into performance. and with hybe at the forefront of making western pandering music, sm has sensibly made the choice to push experimental. they know that fans will stream music regardless of the quality, and they know fans like to brag about live vocals, so what do they do? release songs that are borderline a mess aurally but have indisputable evidence of the power of their performers. it's the perfect social media combo: fans will stream whatever but you get that added deliciousness of non-fans driving up traffic talking about how much they hate it. sticker was released over a month ago and people are STILL talking about it, that's some excellent half life. it's not that sm doesn't know how make 'good music' anymore; sticker is produced by yoo young-jin, who also wrote these certified sm hits including but not limited to: bad boy (rv), i got a boy (snsd), something (tvxq), keep your head down (tvxq), lucifer (shinee), ring ding dong (shinee), sorry sorry (sj), juliette (shinee), and blooming day (exo cbx). along with sticker 127 also promoted with lemonade and promise you, which are much more typical 'sm sounding' songs. sm is purposefully putting a pointed front on their title tracks. now i don't think this is a permanent solution, because outrage marketing is not a viable long term strategy, but it is enough for now that it's pushing the industry to do something new while the market research people try to forecast how the next trends are going to blow.

How do you do backgrounds? I'm having the hardest time 😭😭

same tbh i dont draw them often BUT when i do, i use tons of ref. you can look up some basic 1, 2, and 3 point perspective with lines and boxes and such, like what they make you do in art school, but in my own works i usually use very loose single point perspective, if that LOL or just isometrics... i just idk kinda eyeball / fudge it xD cuz 2 and 3 point perspective usually requires me to put the vanishing points outside the canvas (unless u r into extreme perspective / warping) and thats Mad Work tm for me oops... ik photoshop and clip studio make perspective lines and whatnot for you but i use sai and work dumber & harder so yea :/ also, pro tip, things irl rarely line up perfectly to a vanishing point, so while it’s good to know how perspective *works* u dont need to be so meticulous about it imo... AND if you are drawing organic forms like mountains or snow covered hills, etc, those dont need precise perspective either so? id just say look up ref photos for bgs you are going for! youre not limited to one photo either u can combine multiple pics to suit your interest.

from the royal tailor (2014) i lov that film. i watch a lot of historical kr films / dramas and i screenshot as i watch for general bg ref, specific objects, designs, poses, etc! u just need ref pics lol and veeeery basic / rough / eyeballed perspective tricks! and if you arent doing interiors / buildings, you might not even need to make any lines or whatever!

^also sometimes i uh,, will draw the person first cuz idc abt anything else really lol and fit a bg around them which results in some whacko ass layouts that are a little wonky but idgaf XD and as you can see, none of the lines perfectly meet anywhere so yolo i luv this pic tho so idm :3c

i also love the look of old asian paintings and they didnt have perfect western perspective either so whatever, right?

The middle of the night a few days ago, I had this random idea; idk if it's been done before, but it's these little glowing blobs of color shaped like cats! I call them Blob Cats! <3 They are light and fluffy and bounce around~ they come in all different bright colors and love to swarm-cuddle anyone they can find! ✨💓

Evidently tonight their target is Tommy the Train there

...I also thought it's time I tried my hand once again at drawing trains, this time a bit more seriously 😅 all in all, there's some parts of the design that I definitely messed up and the perspective is a bit wonky, but the final product is something I'm rather proud of!! Drawing Thomas was a fun little challenge I hope to attempt again sometime soon!! I mean...he's adorable anyway so ;w; that was one more reason I enjoyed drawing this~
