Je ne me suis pas doutée puisque je ne lis pas les 4e de couverture et sur cette édition rien n’est indiqué. Bref, j’irai voir à la médiathèque si les 4 autres s’y trouvent car l’histoire est bien écrite et j’adore l’histoire de Lancelot, Morgan, Viviane, Merlin et Aliénor. Ça me change de Chrétien de Troyes ! 🫣

Manga Witches: Part Six

This is the sixth post of the nameless manga witch series! This part is the start of the gaggle of witches that were created by Minou during the climax of Tart Magica! All of these witches were done alongside with @honestlyboringperson!

First on the list is Torlonia, the witch of accumulation with an inescapable nature, a witch that loves rare and beautiful things, it keeps them all in discarded cages, where it'll glance at time to time, it especially loves anything related to magical girls, whether it be meguca, soul gems, grief seeds, familiars, incubators, or even other witches, it won't stop until its part of her collection, an inevitable process. The witch keeps her most prized items in the cages on her own body.

Aliénor, the witch of etiquette with a nitpicking nature. She takes the form of two large porcelain hands, though one appears to missing. The barrier is of a beautiful and extravagant feast. The witch feeds a giant porcelain doll, whether its a familiar or not is unknown. If you come in, it will mistake you as a guest and sit you down, if you even move a muscle, she will tear you apart see it as rude and disgraceful. She detests other witches, finding them disgusting and will slam giant silverware in them if she even catches a whiff of their presence. The first hand is revealed to have been shattered by the doll in one of its raging tantrums, eventually the doll will break the other as well, so its best to do nothing about it.

Ganbatar, the squire witch. Its nature is machismo, once a humble socialite, this witch despises her own weakness and looks to overcome it, indulging in a life of grueling dieting and exercise. The armor she wears is a nearly-indestructible heirloom of a hero from her past, and she hopes one day to be just as big and strong as they were. The only way to defeat this witch is in an honorable, one-on-one duel, presided over by the armor’s lower half and helmet. Any attempts to use sneak attacks or group tactics will have the offending parties stomped to death by the armor’s mighty foot. If you manage to defeat her in combat, her armor shall become yours, whether you want it to or not.

Lorelei, the witch of Melusine with an alluring nature, it has the ability to hide in even the most shallow bodies of water, singing a siren song luring in possible suitors. It has the ability to speak, but only in water, striking meaningful conversation with the suitor, giving them reason to return back time and time again. After some time, it will claim to gather up the courage to appear to them as a beautiful woman, the suitor too distracted to notice the louse-like lower half, will go in for a kiss once sealed, the true fish form of this witch appears and swallows the victim whole, parasitizing off their lifeforce until they find their next suitor. There is the possibility that Lorelei will fall in real love with their suitor during the first phase, when the point comes, their kiss destroying Lorelei's grief, allowing her to pass on. For aversive suitors or attackers, it will give them a quick jab with their magical spear, if the victim survives, it will then use the much larger spear possessed by its true fish form instead.

Jill, the witch of accusations with a repenting nature. It's guilty of a crime it cannot remember. To redeem itself, it listens in to the clamoring of her prisoners, gossiping about the accusations judged from passerby's appearances, this almost never true, still the witch will send form gallows to lock the victim and have them starve away for their crimes. If one is actually guilty of the rumored crimes, the weight on Jill's shoulders will be lifted and will be defeated without interference.

Tonne, the schandmantel witch with a merry nature. Despite insults, shame, and rotten food, are flung at it by its familiars, its dulled senses and drunken whimsy drown out the humiliation. It happily trollops through the barriers, flinging the heavy iron balls attached to her barrel body, hitting all who are too slow to notice. If attacked, it'll spit out a stream of corrosive ale on those near it, even the ale's scent can cause one to lose their sense of being and become mindlessly shameless like the witch.

Tolosa, the bauble witch with a materialistic nature. A witch that shines high in the sky, it refracts light from the sun to take down her enemies with. It assimilates anything glittery or shiny to make itself dazzle like it once it did at some point in its life. Within her body, curses gather that erode her body so she spreads them in hopes of staying pure. This is counterproductive as her single-minded selfishness attracts more curses and she erodes anyway. The seventh part will continue on the witches seen in this big battle!

I've already talked a bit about Mimosas and Langris children here, so I won't go too much into details yet (that will be for the profiles).

Just so you know, Kirsch is actually an excellent uncle and to Mimosas surprise, well loved by her children. He also became an uncle for Finrals and Finesses children.

As for the Fire Vermillions, Esclarmonde and Yogan are the oldest of their generation.

Yogan is the only son of Mereoleona and Yosuga (their marriage/bond/whatever is rather special in many ways I'm still figuring it out^^'). He is actually as calm as his parents are wild.

Yosuga and Mereoleona can have their most fierce, devastating battle training and he can just sit unbothered in the middle of it with a book.

Just so you know, he is very powerful magic-wise, in fact he is double as powerful as his parents... Him being such a calm boy was a relief for EVERYONE. Yogan also gets along great with his uncle Fuegoleon.

Yogans birth is quite the story, because Mereoleona was fighting an herd of powerful Magic Beasts and some renegade noble bandits WHILE giving birth to her son. Come on, this is Mereo, of course she would give birth during a battle or something.

His parents are still very proud of him.

Esclarmonde is the calmest one of her siblings. She has a romantic soul and the story of her parents underlines this trait even more.

She also wants one day to become Wizard Queen, learns and trains hard for that. This includes also doing charities and learning no-magic first aid. Plans already to make this a basis for Magic Knights training and has talks with her father about it. She and Fuegoleon are really close, a true Father-Daughter trust.

Is determined to join the Crimson Lion Kings and also to become their captain one day.

Orion is wilder than his older sister, but still calm. Let's say that he is calm but with passion.

Doesn't talk much, but shows more. Not very stoic, though, as he smiles often.

Aliénor is much younger than her siblings, another kind of surprise child.

Personality-wise, she is like auntie Mereo.

Leopolds wife is another OC of mine (I'll made a profile one day for her). To sum up, Venus is a peasant, a member of the Green Praying Mantises and rather crazy (she can cut with her Foam Magic).

Their daughter Eleonora is as loud and wild as her parents. She has a soft spot for volcanos, much to auntie Mereos delight.

Their son Espumaleon is practically the shy baby. Was very sick when he was a baby, so his parents are protective about him and his big sister even more.

Unlike Eleonora, Espumaleon prefers calm and fluffy places, especially with pillows and blankets. Or a bubble bath. He also doesn't want to become a Magic Knight.

Yogan as straight and long dark red hair, which he usually wears in a low pony tail, his mother's blue eyes with the Vermillion red eyeliner and he has powerful Lava Magic (Don't make him angry, as he doesn't yell, remains calm but his lava quickly runs wild).

Esclarmonde, Orion and Aliénor have all their mother's nacreous eyes and their father's red Vermillion eyeliner. Esclarmonde has wavy waist-long hair, red has Fuegoleon's and also has inherited her father's Fire Magic. Orion has dark purple hair like his mother, but shoulder length and soft just like his father, he also got Litals Star Magic. Aliénor has a wide curly mane like her mother, the color is a redish purple (a mix of her parents hair colors) and got Seafire Magic, a powerful one at that. Noelle one day almost got a heart-attack when little Aliénor accidentally put her Sea Dragon's Roar on fire^^'

Eleonora has long and slightly curly red hair, her mother's jade green eyes, with typical Vermillion eyeliner and got her father's Fire Magic. Espumaleon has black hair like his mother, grass green eyes and red eyeliners from his father, with Venus' Foam Magic.

The family attended the wedding of Aliénor Lambert, with this guy whose name I forgot and who may or may not be a vampire.

Also, speaking of the Lamberts, Jean and Flore had another daughter, named Perrée.

Capétiens vs Plantagenêts: a matter of suzerainty.

It was also his position as suzerain which gave Louis VII the chance of interfering in and inflaming the quarrels which raged in the Angevin family. This was an effective means of weakening his great antagonist. Henry II and Eleanor produced a large family, and reared four of their sons to the age at which custom demanded that they should be provided for. Their eldest son Henry was granted Normandy in October 1160 and was associated with his father on the throne of England in 1170. Richard was given Aquitaine in 1169 and Geoffrey Brittany in 1175. John, the youngest child of Henry and Eleanor, was not old enough to be entrusted with any estates until the very last years of his father's reign, and by the time he came of age all the available lands had been given away. As Duke of Normandy, Duke of Aquitaine, Count of Poitiers, the sons of Henry II came to perform homage to the King of France and became his men. It was in vain that Henry II sought to utilise the Norman procedure of pariage to maintain the unity of his continental territories in favour of his eldest son, the "Young King" Henry. (Under pariage the eldest son succeeded to all the heritable property and was alone answerable for it to the suzerain; each of his brothers received a share, but held it of him). This device could not be put into full operation in Aquitaine, which was not part of Henry's heritage but Eleanor's. And when she granted it to Richard, he owed homage not to his father or his eldest brother, but to the King of France. The Young King Henry had done homage as Duke of Normandy to Louis VII in October 1160. When he repeated his homage in 1170 it was made to embrace Anjou, Maine, and Brittany as well. At the same time Richard did homage to Louis for Aquitaine.

It is true that in 1174 Henry II compelled his sons to perform homage to him after their rebellion, but this new homage did not necessarily annul their homages to the King of France. Henry II himself had done homage to Louis VII in 1151 and again in 1169, and was to perform it yet again to Louis's successor, Philip Augustus, in 1180. Thus throughout the conflict between Louis VII and Henry II the French king's suzerainty was affirmed and recognised. This did not save Louis from defeats at his vassal's hands. Nevertheless, to judge from the Toulouse affair in 1159, Louis' suzerainty occasionally cramped Henry's style, and put him in the wrong in the eyes of contemporaries, including the barons of his continental fiefs. To play the rebel vassal was hardly prudent for a king when many of his own vassals were rebelliously inclined. It was not that the idea of rebellion itself shocked feudal society. On the contrary, it was one of the legitimate courses open to a vassal needing to safeguard his rights against the encroachments of his suzerain. But in the disputes between Louis VII and Henry II, Henry was the law-breaker as well as the vassal in revolt. For his rebelliousness against an impeccable suzerain there could be no justification.

It may be objected that Louis VII was constantly intriguing with Eleanor of Aquitaine and with Henry II's sons. But after all Eleanor, as Duchess of Aquitaine, was herself a royal vassal. Two of Henry's sons had done homage to Louis. Another, Geoffrey, by dint of his father's vassalage, was the French king's rear-vassal. And the king had, as suzerain, not merely the right but the duty to concern himself with the welfare and harmony of his great vassal's family, to ensure that a proper settlement was made on the sons. It would be unfair to accuse Louis of hypocrisy; nor did Henry ever complain that the French king was making trouble in his family. Louis' own grievances against Henry were many and varied, and Henry never made a serious effort to deny their validity.

Thus from 1154 to 1180 Henry II had the appearance of a vassal engaged in unjustifiable revolt against his suzerain. This line of conduct undermined his own position. It constantly reminded the baronage of the Angevin fiefs that the King of France was Henry's suzerain- if only because his suzerainty was so often invoked. And it helped to prevent the fusion of the individual elements of the Angevin empire on the continent. Provincial separation, already too strong for Angevin rule to subdue, was reinforced.

Série de portrait : la génération des grands-parents !

Bon ! ça fait un moment que je travaille sur eux alors, les voici : les principaux personnages de la génération des grands-parents !

Ces deux-là auront une petite scène qui leur sera consacré mais, pour le moment, voici déjà leur visage en gros ! Il s'agit des grands-parents de Sylvain du côté de son père Isidore : Erika Gautier, héritière puis margravine de leur marche, et Halfdan qui est un commerçant et ancien soldat sreng. Personne ne connait le père d'Isidore à part les plus proches amis d'Erika, surtout sous Clovis où elle sait que le tyran aurait tué son fils mais, le secret est resté dans la famille malgré toutes les pressions qu'elle a subi. Sylvain n'a su qui était son grand-père que quand il est devenu adulte de sa mère (car évidemment que Fregn est arrivé à retrouver la vérité et à recoller les morceaux), car Isidore refuse de parler à qui que ce soit de son père et préfère traiter sa mère de p*te et de traitresse à Faerghus, plutôt que d'admettre qu'elle n'a aimé qu'un homme dans sa vie, soit Halfdan, et donc qu'il est à moitié Sreng, même s'il adorait son père quand il était petit. Ici, j'ai tenté de donner la même position qu'académie!Sylvain à Halfdan pour marquer le lien de parenté, ainsi que leurs couleurs mais, en inversé, histoire de marqués qu'ils sont en couple.

Fun fact : sur mon carnet, les cheveux d'Halfdan (en crayon de couleur "sanguine" pur) ont plus la couleur de ceux de Sylvain qu'Erika qui les a orange plus vif malgré les deux couches de rouge mais là, ils font plus bruns et ceux d'Erika font plus roux-rouge comme Sylvain donc, on s'y retrouve !

+le motif au feutre sur le torse d'Erika était censé être l'emblème de Gautier mais, je me suis emmêlé les pinceaux en la passant au noir alors, ça ressemblait plus à celui de Gloucester alors, je l'ai retravaillé pour que le motif ressemble à un soleil stylisé avec une lune à cause d'Halfdan qui lui disait qu'au soleil, sa chevelure semble prendre feu et briller. Pour ses deux grains de beauté sous l'oeil, même si ce n'est pas du tout une légende scandinave, j'avais entendu dire qu'au Japon, un grain de beauté sous l'oeil symboliserait une larme et un destin tragique, ce qui irait bien à Erika qui n'a jamais pu vivre son amour avec Halfdan au grand jour, puis qui s'est vu rejeté par son fils à cause de cet amour. Par contre, elle aurait beaucoup aimé voir son petit-fils se rapprocher des srengs et embrasser complètement ses origines grâce à Fregn (avec qui elle s'entendait très bien).

Deuxième couple : Guillaume et Aliénor ! Si je suis un peu déçue de l'expression de Guillaume qui manque de mordant comparé à celui qu'il pouvait être, je suis plutôt contente d'Aliénor sur laquelle j'ai expérimenté plein de trucs ! (notamment les lunettes, c'est une des première fois que j'en fais !) Normalement, elle a un reflet roux dans les cheveux mais après une couche de jaune, puis une d'orange clair, puis une autre de jaune pour la rendre plus blonde que rousse, puis encore une autre d'orange pour tenter de lui redonner un peu de reflet, j'ai jeté l'éponge et passer une dernière couche de jaune pour qu'elle soit blonde, tant pis. Son foulard aussi est une expérimentation. Les photos qui m'ont servi de modèle reprennent des modes plus anciennes que pour Guillaume mais, je trouvais que ça lui allait bien vu qu'elle est la magicienne du groupe et que son style est un peu vieillot, il vise surtout le pratique.

Pour les couleur aussi, j'ai utilisé les deux même crayons pour leurs vêtements mais, en inversé. Aliénor ne porte même pas de couleur la liant à la famille Dominic car, elle a complètement épousé les intérêts des Fraldarius donc, elle porte leurs couleurs, notamment sur son voile où c'est le plus voyant et son chapelet porte l'emblème de Fraldarius. Pour Guillaume, il a les cheveux noirs de sa famille qui partent dans tous les sens domestiqués avec sa tresse, et il porte son alliance autour du cou pour éviter de la perdre ou qu'elle ne le gêne au combat quand il tire à l'arc ou manie Moralta, même si son rôle de protecteur est plus mis en avant avec Aegis à son bras ici (bras droit vu que comme quasi tous les Fraldarius, il est gaucher)

Ensuite, on a Nicola à gauche, et la matriarche Catherine Charon de l'autre !

Nicola n'est pas colorié car, je n'ai pas pile le bon brun pour ses cheveux alors, il attendra que je mette la main sur un bon crayon de bonne qualité pour avoir des couleurs. Ils sont censé être brun très foncé à la limite du noir, ce qui lui permettait de se faire passer pour Guillaume quand ils étaient petits et que des assassins de Clovis ou d'autres tentaient de le tuer, même si Guillaume lui a toujours formellement interdit de se faire passer pour lu afin d'éviter qu'il ne se fasse tuer par erreur (et ceux qui auraient touché à un cheveu de son meilleur ami et quasi frère adoptif auraient tous signé leur arrêt de mort) Quand ils seront plus vieux, Nicola aura le visage bien plus carré et sera plus grand que lui alors, cela évitera à Guillaume de s'inquiéter pour ça. Dans l'idée que j'en ai, physiquement, il ressemble un peu à Gilbert mais, en vraiment bon compagnon et chevalier malgré ses origines roturières et le fait qu'il ne sera jamais adoubé pour rester au service des Fraldarius.

Pour la matriarche Catherine, elle a les cheveux verts des nabatéens, mais ses yeux sont aussi bleu que ceux de sa petite-fille Cassandra / Catherine. Cette dernière reprendra d'ailleurs son nom pour lui rendre hommage : c'est un prénom relativement courant donc, elle ne se fera pas pincer dessus, ça permet de rappeler son affiliation aux Charon, et de montrer son respect pour sa grand-mère. Plus femme de loi que de guerre, c'est elle qui a mise en place une très grande partie de l'appareil idéologique justifiant le coup d'Etat de Ludovic, notamment en s'appuyant sur les travaux de ses ancêtres de la guerre du Lion et de l'Aigle, Sybille et Irina Charon-Ordélia. Malgré tout, c'est une combattante à mains nues confirmés, ce que j'ai tenté de rappeler avec les cicatrices qu'elle a sur les mains : ne vous fiez pas à son air de bureaucrate très souvent enceinte (elle a eu douze enfants après tout et blague elle-même sur le fait qu'elle a défié les statistiques en ayant onze filles d'affilés [ce qui est l'idéal pour une famille très matriarcale comme celle des Charon] et pour sa dernière grossesse, elle a eu son seul garçon avec Kimon, qui est devenu le petit frère le plus gâté et embêté par ses soeurs de l'histoire !), elle casse aussi des bouches comme sa fille Héléna qui lui ressemble beaucoup de caractère en moins cassant, et sa petite-fille Cassandra qui casse autant des bouches qu'elle !

(pas de dessin de son mari par contre, les hommes Charon sont inexistant dans ma tête sauf par obligation scénaristique ou quand c'est Théo qui a un passe-droit)

Et enfin, faites entrer le roi pour le dernier avec Ludovic ! Ici, il est un peu plus âgé que pour les autres qui sont plus de l'époque du coup d'Etat contre Clovis. Ici, je dirais que Ludovic est à la fin de sa vie quand il est rongé par la tuberculose mais, il restera jusqu'à la fin un roi fort et fier qui regarde droit devant lui et continue à avancer pour le bien de son Royaume malgré son propre corps qui le trahit !

Comme Simplex, il a les yeux vairons : un bleu roi comme tous les Blaiddyd, l'autre bleu d'eau comme l'oeil qu'à donné Pertinax à Simplex après la révolution contre les maitres et la fin de l'esclavage. Pour lui, ça peut aussi montrer son lien privilégié avec les Fraldarius. D'ailleurs, lui aussi est habillé au couleur de Guillaume et Aliénor : il ne porte que du sarcelle ou du bleu-vert, aucun bleu tout court un peu sombre comme Dimitri ou Lambert, pour bien montrer son lien avec la famille du Loup et le fait qu'il est contre la manière de penser de sa famille et surtout de Clovis.
