Manga Witches: Part Six

This is the sixth post of the nameless manga witch series! This part is the start of the gaggle of witches that were created by Minou during the climax of Tart Magica! All of these witches were done alongside with @honestlyboringperson!

First on the list is Torlonia, the witch of accumulation with an inescapable nature, a witch that loves rare and beautiful things, it keeps them all in discarded cages, where it'll glance at time to time, it especially loves anything related to magical girls, whether it be meguca, soul gems, grief seeds, familiars, incubators, or even other witches, it won't stop until its part of her collection, an inevitable process. The witch keeps her most prized items in the cages on her own body.

Aliénor, the witch of etiquette with a nitpicking nature. She takes the form of two large porcelain hands, though one appears to missing. The barrier is of a beautiful and extravagant feast. The witch feeds a giant porcelain doll, whether its a familiar or not is unknown. If you come in, it will mistake you as a guest and sit you down, if you even move a muscle, she will tear you apart see it as rude and disgraceful. She detests other witches, finding them disgusting and will slam giant silverware in them if she even catches a whiff of their presence. The first hand is revealed to have been shattered by the doll in one of its raging tantrums, eventually the doll will break the other as well, so its best to do nothing about it.

Ganbatar, the squire witch. Its nature is machismo, once a humble socialite, this witch despises her own weakness and looks to overcome it, indulging in a life of grueling dieting and exercise. The armor she wears is a nearly-indestructible heirloom of a hero from her past, and she hopes one day to be just as big and strong as they were. The only way to defeat this witch is in an honorable, one-on-one duel, presided over by the armor’s lower half and helmet. Any attempts to use sneak attacks or group tactics will have the offending parties stomped to death by the armor’s mighty foot. If you manage to defeat her in combat, her armor shall become yours, whether you want it to or not.

Lorelei, the witch of Melusine with an alluring nature, it has the ability to hide in even the most shallow bodies of water, singing a siren song luring in possible suitors. It has the ability to speak, but only in water, striking meaningful conversation with the suitor, giving them reason to return back time and time again. After some time, it will claim to gather up the courage to appear to them as a beautiful woman, the suitor too distracted to notice the louse-like lower half, will go in for a kiss once sealed, the true fish form of this witch appears and swallows the victim whole, parasitizing off their lifeforce until they find their next suitor. There is the possibility that Lorelei will fall in real love with their suitor during the first phase, when the point comes, their kiss destroying Lorelei's grief, allowing her to pass on. For aversive suitors or attackers, it will give them a quick jab with their magical spear, if the victim survives, it will then use the much larger spear possessed by its true fish form instead.

Jill, the witch of accusations with a repenting nature. It's guilty of a crime it cannot remember. To redeem itself, it listens in to the clamoring of her prisoners, gossiping about the accusations judged from passerby's appearances, this almost never true, still the witch will send form gallows to lock the victim and have them starve away for their crimes. If one is actually guilty of the rumored crimes, the weight on Jill's shoulders will be lifted and will be defeated without interference.

Tonne, the schandmantel witch with a merry nature. Despite insults, shame, and rotten food, are flung at it by its familiars, its dulled senses and drunken whimsy drown out the humiliation. It happily trollops through the barriers, flinging the heavy iron balls attached to her barrel body, hitting all who are too slow to notice. If attacked, it'll spit out a stream of corrosive ale on those near it, even the ale's scent can cause one to lose their sense of being and become mindlessly shameless like the witch.

Tolosa, the bauble witch with a materialistic nature. A witch that shines high in the sky, it refracts light from the sun to take down her enemies with. It assimilates anything glittery or shiny to make itself dazzle like it once it did at some point in its life. Within her body, curses gather that erode her body so she spreads them in hopes of staying pure. This is counterproductive as her single-minded selfishness attracts more curses and she erodes anyway. The seventh part will continue on the witches seen in this big battle!

Alfet Sinistea variant- Instead of a small teacup it’s a big tub of boiling water. (Water/Fire)

Noose Comfey- instead of a flower crown it’s a gnarled vine (Fairy/Dark)

Schandmantel Bronzong (Psychic/Grass)

Brazen Bull Tauros (Fire/Steel)

Donphan breaking wheel- when coiled up it takes the form of a wheel. (Ground/Ghost or Ground/Grass)

Klefki pear of anguish (Steel/Dark)

Dhelmise breaking wheel (Grass/Dark)

Doublade/Aegislash Guillotine (Steel/Psychic)

Despite the reputation that the Iron Maiden (a kind metal cupboard in the approximate shape of a woman with spikes on the inside) has as being one of the most distinctive old timey instruments of torture, there isn't actually any evidence they were actually used in the medieval period they supposedly hailed from?

Indeed, while there are accounts of various pointy boxes and statues used to harm people going all the way back to Ancient Greece, the first actual accounts of something called an Iron Maiden specifically only dates back as far as the 19th century, with the Iron Maiden of Nuremberg appearing in a museum in 1802 after being "discovered" supposedly in a German castle in the late 1700s.

It's a commonly believed theory that most supposed Iron Maidens in circulation and in museums are "replicas" (the Nuremberg Iron Maiden was destroyed by Allied bombing of the city during World War Two, with a copy made in the 1820s for exhibition in museums and side-shows being the one now available to look at). Things created by people thinking that they must have existed, because finding inventive ways to be mean to people is something had more time for back in the day.

So while it has been used as a prop and set dressing in much media about medieval times, the idea of an Iron Maiden specifically seems likely to be a comparatively recent invention or hoax people assume was in use back in the day, potentially a misinterpretation of something called a Schandmantel. This being approximately the same thing, but not spiky.

Yui: Ngh……

Yui: (Huh……? Somehow, my body feels heavy……)

Yui: (And…… I can’t move……? Is this maybe…… sleep paralysis?)

Yui: Nnnngh……

Yui: (I really…… Can’t move……)

Ayato: …… Hehe.

Yui: (Huh……? That laugh……)

*Ayato appears before her*

Ayato: …… Hey. Did ya wake up?

Yui: ……Eh!? Ah, Ayato-ku…… kh.

*She tries to sit up and hits her head*

Yui: Ouch……!

Yui: (Wh-What? The ceiling is so low…… Wait, where am I right now!?)

Ayato: Hehe, what’re you doing?

Yui: A-Ayato-kun, why am I here? …… Speaking of, where is here?

Ayato: It’s my bed.

Yui: Bed…… Wait, is it a coffin!?

Ayato: Hmph, don’t lump me in with those vampires.

Ayato: My bed isn’t a coffin. It’s an Iron Maiden.

Yui: Iron Maiden…… The torture device?

Ayato: Ohh, you know it, huh? Yeah, that! Well, I took the spikes out though, obviously.

Ayato: The smell of blood is still slightly clinging to it…… Isn’t that great?

Yui: Eh……!?

Yui: (I thought I’d been smelling metal since just now, but…… Could it be……)

*Yui pushes against the lid*

Yui: L-Let me out of here! Why am I in here in the first place!?

Ayato: Consider it an honor. I went out of my way to carry you here.

Yui: Wh-Why would you do that……?

Ayato: Isn’t it obvious?

Ayato: Cause I’m hungry.

Yui: ……!

Yui: (C-Could it be…… While I slept!?)

Ayato: Hehe, relax. Biting you while you’re sleeping is boring, so I didn’t.

*He starts moving her clothes out of the way*

Yui: No…… kh!

Ayato: Yes, make that face. It tastes best when I can eat while looking at that kind of face……

Yui: S-Stop……

Ayato: Hehe, aren’t you making a nice expression.

Ayato: Ahh, but it’s hard to see it in here.

*He pushes the lid open*

Yui: (I-It’s blinding……!)

Ayato: …… This way I can see your expression really good.

Yui: ……kh! L-Let me go……!

Ayato: Let you go? What’d food like you say that for?

Ayato: I said I was gonna eat now. Be good and let me bite you.

Yui: N-No!

Ayato: Huh? Why?

Yui: Why, you ask……

Yui: If I let you do it now, I’ll always have to give you my blood if you tell me to, right?

Ayato: You bitch…… You’re too cheeky!

*He grabs her*

Yui: Kyaa!

Ayato: That’s your damn role…… The role of food!

Ayato: Ngh……

Yui: No……!

Ayato: *starts sucking*

Ayato: …… Haah. Your blood’s pretty good.

Yui: Y-You’re cruel……

Ayato: What’s cruel? I’ve only grabbed a meal.

Ayato: Those guys who make someone who’s hungry wait are far more cruel.

Yui: ……kh……

Ayato: *sucks some more blood*

Ayato: Haah…… Now that I’m full, I’m getting tired……

Yui: Kya……! W-Wait, what……!?

Ayato: What “what”? I’m gonna sleep.

Yui: Wh-Why are you holding me!?

Ayato: Hehe, do you know how red your face is? What’re you embarrassed about?

Ayato: We’ve been like this the whole time till you woke up, you know?

Yui: ……!

Yui: (That’s why I couldn’t move my body……!)

Yui: I-I’ll go back to my room now! You’re done eating now, so it’s fine, right!?

*She tries to get away*

Ayato: What, calm down! Seriously, how annoying. I wanna enjoy the aftertaste of your blood.

Ayato: ……Haah. There’s still some blood flowing from the base of your throat…… I can’t bear that smell……

Ayato: One more sip…… Mh……

Yui: Ah……

Ayato: Haah……

Yui: ……kh……

Ayato: ……Mhh……

Yui: …………

Ayato: …………

Yui: (Hm……?)

Yui: A-Ayato-kun?

Ayato: …………

Yui: Ayato-kun.

Ayato: …………

Yui: (He-He’s sleeping……)

Yui: (Seriously! He fell asleep right when he had enough! He’s not a child anymore!)

Yui: (I wonder if I could somehow slip out without waking him up?)

Yui: Wah……!

Yui: (I-I managed to get away from his teeth, but…… He’s started holding me more and more tightly……)

Ayato: Zzz, zzz.

Yui: (H-His face is right by mine!)

Ayato: Mh……

Yui: (Haah, do I have no other choice but to sleep like this tonight?)

Yui: (I’ve been at Ayato-kun’s mercy ever since I came into this house…)

Ayato: Zzz, zzz.

Yui: (But……)

Yui: (His sleeping face might but kind of cute…… Somehow……)

There I’m finally back!!!!

Fun fact to impress you vampiric boyfriends: It’s highly unlikely that the pop culture Iron Maidens were ever actually used. There was something else called a Schandmantel (coat of shame) which was vaguely similar, but not spikey; it was meant to hurt, not kill. The well-known Iron Maidens might just be made up of different parts to showcase how barbaric those times were.
