To Be A Girl by Alexandra Hamer
In 1874, at the age of four-and-a-half, Thomas Stanton realises that 'Thomas' is a boy's name and that everyone, even her mother, thinks she's a boy.
So begins the extraordinary journey of a transgender girl who must not only try to understand what it means to be a girl inside the body of a boy, a century before there was even a name for it, but she must soon find some way to change her body before the horror of puberty casts her as a man forever.
This is one girl's breathtaking fight to survive as herself, and to be loved for who she is.

Mod opinion: I haven't heard of this book before, but it sounds interesting.

Books I'm struggling to finish and why
I hate leaving books unfinished... so I'm putting this out there to see if it helps me get over it.
Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear
Privileged White Male Giving advice that was intended for neurotypical people.
2. The House of Silk by Anthony Horowitz
New Sherlock Holmes and the narrator is annoying me and there is an awkward social situation that is making me anxious
3. The Twist of the Knife - Anthony Horowitz
This case is not plausible to me in any way and the whole situation is making me cringe
4. To Be a Girl: A transgender girl's breathtaking fight to survive as herself in Victorian England. by Alexandra Hamer
I cannot handle any more trauma happening to this character and I'm a wuss.

“To Be A Girl” by Alexandra Hamer
I will preface this, that this book is more suitable for a YA audience and older as it does contain some mature themes. However the book is self-published by a trans author and it is a trans led narrative and I feel given I have a relatively large and active follower base on here, it could be beneficial for her for me to post my review here.
So I just finished “To Be A Girl” by Alexandra Hamer and I absolutely loved it. The book paints quite a vivid image of what it could have been like to have been a trans woman in Victorian England and Victorian Naples for that matter and I just absolutely adore Emmeline as a character; intelligent, resourceful, creative and with big heart. And despite the book’s historical setting I think it does well to touch upon some of the issues trans people still face in society today. And just because I have an massive love for romance, it has a wonderful amount of that too I must add.
A very enjoyable read - if not at times difficult - and my only complaint is that it had to end.
