Monster Thomas

A bit late to the party, but I wanted to make some monster engines of my own. :3

Monster engines idea from @ohjeeztrains , my style of monster engines inspired by @ghostbellies .

Thomas here is a good example of the monster steam engines, the Steamies are very fluffy and furry, especially the babies. It's their main way of keeping warm so their fire box stays lit for longer, as well as just a sort of body heat and keeping their eggs/babies warm, and older Steamies have thicker, tougher fur which acts as a sort of natural armor. Steamies also have long retractable claws, which they often use in fights and self defense, and can be used as tools as well.

Hope you enjoy, I enjoyed designing this boi, I'll probably do Gordon next, because bias. Aight, phone's dying, peace. ✌️✨

Big boy Gordon in this absolute masterpiece of an outfit. I was considering making it blue so it looks more like him but it's supposed to be that he is wearing that exact outfit.

I had a lot of fun with the glittery shiny shading.

I recall an old "Gordon In A Dress" trend, I don't think it's still a thing but it was cool.

in the car

Today, I left the extremely boring location known as the Suburbs and went to the more populated part of my city. All of that to get a haircut. The Christmas decorations look beautiful. Apart from going to school, I haven’t left the house that much lately, which is probably the reason why I haven’t been in the Christmas spirit this year. There are no Christmas decorations at all in my school, which just pisses me off. The reasons are either “we don’t have enough money” or “not everyone celebrates Christmas, and this school represents equality for all!” I know that alot of people celebrate Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, but at the very least please put some cheap decorations up. ALL THIS NON-CHRISTMAS MAKES PEOPLE DEPRESSED!!!!!! Anyways everything cozy in this car, and, you’ve gotta be kidding me my younger sister is crying that she food right next to me. Aight R&M tumblr, I have a question for y’all.

I have mentioned before on this blog that I really, really did not care for S04E04, the infamous dragon episode. I just did NOT vibe with it — I didn’t think the jokes were funny, I did not like the new characters introduced, and I especially disliked the resolution. I was very disappointed by it, particularly because I was obsessed with dragons growing up and to see my favorite show handle them so abysmally really aggravated me. (Please note that I am not trying to disparage anybody that did enjoy that episode - that is absolutely your prerogative if you did like it and I’m glad you were able to experience enjoyment from it rather than dissatisfaction.)

About a month or two after the episode premiered, I was in the shower letting my mind wander, as we all do, and started thinking about it and asked myself what I would have done instead if I had been writing it. I wound up coming up with an idea that just cracked me up and that I really liked. I ran it by some IRL friends and they also liked it and thought it was funny, so I decided I would do an entire script rewrite and illustrate a comic to go along with it.

I rewrote the entire episode from back to front, as well as designed an entirely new dragon to replace Balthromaw, as his character would not really work with the plot I had envisioned (and, moreover, because I do not fuckin’ like him 🙃). I was actually pretty proud of what I had come up with. Unfortunately, severe mental health issues on my end have prevented me from being able to get anything substantial finished in terms of illustrating it. I have quite a bit of disjointed, half-finished work, but I have just not been able to pull it together into a finished, polished comic. My mental health has absolutely zapped my motivation and productivity, which has been extremely frustrating to me as I used to be very productive in my younger years. However, it’s still something I think about practically daily and still have a nagging desire to finish it someday.

Almost two years have gone by since that episode premiered and we’ve had an entire season and a half in the meantime. We’ve gotten a lot of character development since then and I guess I’m just not sure how (or even if) it would factor into the work I have. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but it’s been so long and so much lore has happened in the interim it makes me wonder if I should just scrap it entirely and give my mind a rest from the nagging. I guess maybe I could always just slap a different dimension on it instead of C137, but I suppose I’m just not sure if it would even be worth it at this point. I guess what I’m asking is — would anybody even be interested in a humble, dumbass fan comic two years late, written before Season 5? What do y’all think? Would anybody else besides me like to see a redo of that episode? Am I just overthinking things? I’m not well-versed in the world of fan fiction/characters/comics at all, so I would love some advice.

Anyway, this has been something on my mind and I just wanted to throw this hypothetical message in a bottle out to sea to see what happens. I have never done anything like this before.

Aight I'm going on a hny tumblr hiatus, the negativity on the tag is a bit too frustrating. It's a good story with good protagonists. Takahashi was very clear that if there was to be a sequel, it would NOT center Inukag's kid. Idk why so many people suddenly expect that now and are calling the show bad just because Mo isn't the MC. She'll get her arc and her big moment, but the main relationship is between Towa and Setsuna- and the show is developing that pretty well.
