How they react when they make you laugh for the first time since arriving in Borderland.

Chishiya, Ann, Kuina and Niragi.

i really really love writing for aib, and i really really want to marry ann. warnings: this is mostly fluff but jealousy and threats are included (would it even be niragi if this wasn’t the case?) requested by: anon (thank you!) written by: archie support me on ko-fi!

Chishiya

Chishiya would be puzzled. Hearing your laugh ring through the Beach’s hallway from beside him when hardly much had happened-- What suddenly brought that out of you? You, who hadn’t so much as smirked once since arriving in the Borderlands?

He wouldn’t stop walking until you’d finally keeled over, resting against the wall in your laughter, and he’d simply stand there and watch you, tempted to give into the smirk that pulls at the corner of his lips. Ah yes, that laugh is contagious, but it’d only properly catch on when he realises it’s his own words that brought it out of you.

Gasping words out through your bursts of laughter, not paying half a mind to the bikini-clad girls that spared you judgemental glances as you try to communicate what exactly of Chishiya’s words tickled you so-- But it’d barely come out clear enough to make sense.

But it wouldn’t matter. He’d finally give into the tickle inside his own chest, the softest laugh of humour bubbling out as he stands there, hands in his pockets and tender eyes on your giggling form. It’s the first time since arriving that he’s seen you like this, and what a sight to behold.

Ann

Ann isn’t phased by much, but your sudden laughter gracing her ears would startle her. She’d jump, hair swishing out of that perfect positioning when she turns to look at you. She’d think there’s something wrong at first, scan the area to see what might’ve possibly brought you to this, wonder if perhaps Borderland has finally taken its toll on you. She’s heard plenty of stories of psychosis manifesting in laughter from her work life, but this… Doesn’t seem to be the case.

She’d ask what was up, ask if you’re feeling okay, hold your face still to feel your forehead for a temperature. This, however, would only bring out more bubbling laughter as you tuck her hair behind her ear again, back where it belongs.

“You’re so funny, Ann,” you’d say, “And you don’t even realise.”

She’d blink. No, she’s never been considered the funny type.

It’s not until you describe to her that it’s purely because she’s so serious, so endearing, that you couldn’t help yourself. Perhaps things really were catching up to you, and you finally let up on all the pressures from the games. Hell, you were gonna die anyway. Why not share laughter when your love is this morbidly endearing in her antics?

Kuina

Kuina would have missed your laughter. She’d struggle with your newly introverted self, noticing how all the games have worn you down in the weeks of being here, and it’s not until one time that you get a little bit too drunk a little bit too quickly in the Beach’s nightclub that you’d finally be able to spill your sense of humour all over her again.

It would be the silliest of things; Kuina’s reaction to a guy hitting on her or an animated fall on the dancefloor that you’d just so happened to witness, but it would shock your body with waves and waves of giggles.

Kuina’s reaction would be instant. Her face would light up, teeth showing and eyes shining as she drank in the sight of you losing control of your body, weak at the knees and relying on Kuina’s arm around your middle to keep you up. Soon, the pair of you would be creasing with tears in your eyes, and she’s definitely the type that lightly hits whoever happens to be in her reach as she cackles. Afterwards, the air around you would be drastically lighter. She’d be thrilled to have you back.

Niragi

Niragi would be suspicious of your laughter. He’d stare at you with a brow and corner of his lips raised, practically with a question mark over his head as he eyes you. He’d demand to know what’s so funny, what’s suddenly happened to you-- but on hearing that he’d just said something in such a way that struck you funny, he’d guffaw in dismissal. Though, hidden inside, his chest would swell with pride and a curl would remain on his lips for a long while after, throwing out certain remarks to try and catch you in a giggle fit once more. Every time it works, a strange glow of acceptance would find a home in his chest.

If, god forbid, anyone else had been the first to make you laugh, he’d want their head on a plate. And you know he’d have it, too, unless it were Chishiya. Perhaps Chishiya’s eyeroll to something Niragi had said would set you off, or even worse, something he’d said-- Niragi would lose his shit. He’d yell at you once the moment had passed, having let it brew for moments before. How dare you humiliate him? Unite with Chishiya against him? Of course, that wouldn’t be even a sliver of truth, and you’d have to talk him down from hunting Chishiya in the Beach’s halls.

You’d manage a soft laugh for him, holding his face to keep his attention and stop his spiralling. “Niragi,” you’d shine a smile, knowing exactly how to calm him. “He’s pitiful, and I’m yours.”

Dating Shuntaro Chishiya

authors note ✩° : i was giggling writing all the funny bits in this. bro be ducking and weaving with his hands in his pockets LMFAO. also he was my favorite in season one,, but now it’s more kuina and arisu bc arisu is just so babygirl...i also feel like in the manga chishiya is MUCH more scary so i included some of those attributes in here.

- ‘Touch them and you die’ type.

- Chishiya acts confused when you're mad at him and he’ll drag out an argument for the sake of pissing you off further or messing with you. He could care less if you're actually mad at him since he knows that with a few words everything will be fixed, it’s like a game to him.

- Uses degrading pet names such as ‘bunny’ or ‘pet’ and on some occasions, ‘darling’ just to skew your perception of your relationship.

- If he could care less about anything, he could care less about what anyone else has to say about you. Meaning if he’s in a meeting where no one else is allowed but ‘special’ members of The Beach, Chishiya is going to bring you along and no one’s going to stop them. Even if anyone has the nerve or you're uncomfortable being in the presence of such high strung figures, he remains smug faced and unfazed.

- Embodiment of strangers in public and lovers in private. He doesn't really show affection that often in front of anyone else, but if you two are alone he’s somewhat intimate. Because of his dark mentality, it takes a while for Chishiya to fully accept the fact you both like each other so he’s still a little cautious of the idea of your guys relationship.

- Chishiya loves teasing you, to the point it’s almost bullying. He has an unfair advantage given his sheer ability to just pop out of no where despite him NEVER running and just keeping his hands in his pockets like a damn fool. But he likes coming up behind you and leaning onto your back, catching you off guard as he rests his chin on your shoulder and looks at you curiously.

- If he has a weapon and someone is seen flirting with you or making you physically uncomfortable during a game or not, he’s going to use it without hesitation.

- I imagine that before you guys started dating, Chishiya had betrayed//tricked you at least once. This would make your relationship a sort of enemies to lovers, at least on your end.

- Being better friends with Kuina than your own boyfriend since he’s the silent type, and Kuina is more fun than him—they both know this. She loves you anyways since you have WAY more emotion than Chishiya and you are also more fun than him or at least more caring.

- During games, you are Chishiya’s last worry. He knows you can handle yourself just as much as you know he could care less of who dies or who lives, you included. He’s always respectful of your ideas and is generally just silent when it comes to your paired games together.

- Have you guys seen Banana Fish? I headcanon that if there were a russian roulette game of some heart variation, he’ll take a bullet for you only to question why there’s none inside. Of course upon seeing Chishiya attempt to off himself to let you live, you're just a lot bit worried.

- Sometimes even if he is really intelligent and cunning, he’s pretty oblivious and therefore deemed stupid in your mind. But he’s not stupid, he’s just focusing on other things that are more important in that moment...

- If it’s not a high speed game, Chishiya will hold your hand inside his pocket and you two will just walk around at his slow ass pace. If it is though, you're the one pulling him along...with his hands in his pockets.

- Despite how mean he can be sometimes, he’s still capable of complimenting you and getting you flustered with his teasing.

“You're pretty fascinating Y/n.”

But he almost always ruins it with some backhanded statement afterwards.

“For someone with those mental capabilities, I didn't know you could figure it out.”

- There are times where Chishiya is sweet, like times where he’ll put his hand on your head and hold it there even if you two are on the move. Sometimes it can be annoying but other times it’s a really nice comfort to be compressed between the floor and his palm.

- He’s very quiet so he sneaks around and scares you a bunch, even if you're expecting him.

ARISU

The first time you held his hand he was shocked

Literally repeatedly said in his head to not panic

Blushes a little but tries to hide it

He was in the middle of a sentence when your hands connected and he was so surprised he forgot what he was saying

Will try to get back to it, fail, and start some random conversation like how nice the weather is today

USAGI

She pretends nothing happened

Slightly smiles and carries on with the conversation

But her mood will definitely increase

After a few times she starts initiating it herself and holds your hand every time

KUINA

At first she's confused, looking down at your hands

But than she will smile, putting her other hand on yours

It makes her more comfortable with touching

She'll suddenly start clinging to you more and holding your hand at any given moment

It just kinda gives her reassurance

CHISHIYA

He'll raise his eyebrows looking at your hands, just barley smiling and continuing whatever he was doing

It makes his heart flatter but he doesn't have a outward reaction

Literally doesn't give a fuck if someone stares at you

You're holding hands and there's nothing they can do about it

ANN

Gives you a stern look

"What are you doing?"

She acts as if she doesn't like it

But she secretly really enjoys it

It'll take time for her to show it though, eventually smirking a little whenever you hold her

KARUBE

Proud.

He's just proud.

Looks at you with a big smile

Sometimes he likes wrapping his hand around your shoulders

He's so confident and if someone asks if you're dating he'll Immediately straighten up and say yes

When you're sitting with friends he likes taking your hand and holding it close to him with both his hands

AGUNI

Doesn't show any emotion

But inside he's like "oh shit oh shit he held my hend what do I do omg"

He was never really the type of guy to be gentle or show effaction, at least not after the borderland

So he doesn't really know how to show his appreciation

But he does appreciate and adore you very much

TAKERU/HATTER

Man, he was handsy even before you started dating

Touching you every moment possible

Wrapping his hand around your shoulders, holding hour hand when just walking, putting his head on your shoulder, anything really

He doesn't care if people think it inappropriate

He likes being able to touch you and be with you

So it doesn't matter where or when you hold hands he's always down, especially after you started dating

LAST BOSS

Doesn't have a reaction

Just kinda looks around a little startled

Not because he's not confident in his Identify, but because he presents himself as this tough lonely scary guy who doesn't need anyone, and here you are holding his hand

Also because he's not used to effaction

It sends sparks to his heart

BANDA (murderous emo dude)

He just smirks

Really don't know what to tell you but he's just not bothered by it

It's like, okay, you held his hand, and?

KYUMA (butt guy)

He smirks and pulls you closer to him

Is probably the first one to initiate holding hands, or really any physical contact

He's not shy as we've seen, and definitely doesn't care what others think

He loves you and he wants to show it.

YABA

He generally doesn't like this kind of pda

He's more of a 'hand around you' type of man

He's possessive, not gentle (or that's what he wants everyone to think)

He's also kinda awkward at first

It's probably the first time he's dating a guy publicly and officially

So it takes him time to get used to it

Arisu:

Sort of like a lost puppy; he's jealous but doesn't know what to do about it. Will usually sit by you as if trying to remind you that he is there and the two of you are in a relationship. If he feels like your pursuer doesn't understand, then he will hesitantly explain to them that you two are together but pretty much hopes that you'll tell them off for flirting with you. Definitely asks Karube for some advice on how to deal with jealousy.

Karube:

The hot kind of jealous; he has that jaw-clenching thing down. Karube finds himself being green-eyed frequently. You're with him, and he thinks everyone should respect that but pair that with his trait of being protective, he gets jealous quite a lot. Definitely wouldn't admit to it, but plus side, he looks sexy as he fumes in the corner with his arms crossed over his chest, watching you; well, that's until he begins stalking over to you. Good luck to anyone who tries anything flirty with you.

Usagi:

Doesn't realize she's jealous at first, she gets really annoyed when people flirt with you, but it takes her a while to understand. She'll fight for you, not physically, unless they try to hurt her, then she will protect herself and you. She's the type to stay close by and scoff at your admirer's words, her eyes roll every few minutes, and you can literally hear her teeth grinding, but she gives you a wide smile and thumbs up when you catch her mid-annoyance.

Chishiya:

Honestly, Chishiya's jealousy varies. While he is completely laid back, on the other hand, when it comes to you, he isn't willing to leave things to chance. He believes he is the best choice for you and knows you'd never leave him, but he doesn't like seeing people try their luck. Straight-faced, but no one sees his clenched fists inside his jacket pockets. His sass is 10/10 if he catches your admirer alone; he doesn't want you to see him jealous. Hates when Niragi flirts with you to try and get a reaction out of him.

Kuina:

When Kuina gets jealous, she gets stuck between 'fight and insecure.' While she wants to go and roundhouse kick anyone threatening her relationship with you. She does, unfortunately, feel some sort of insecurity. She wonders if you'll fall for their jokes or looks, but then she remembers you're with her, and then her fight comes back. The type to physically defend you when needed.

Niragi:

He refuses to believe that he gets jealous. He is simply overprotective. You're his, so he's obviously just being protective of you as he glares at anyone daring enough to look in your general direction or brave enough to talk to you. Niragi is the type to take his annoyance out on you because you should have done something to stop that person from flirting with you. In his mind, you're asking for attention if you don't immediately rebuff other's advances.

Ann:

Her jealousy comes out in her emotions, her disgust for people shows clearly on her face. Treats anyone like they're a germ if she catches them flirting with you. She's not the type to get in a physical fight over it, but her sass could kill anyway. If you ask what's wrong, she'll just ignore the question and kiss you in front of the 'perpetrator' side-eyeing them during it.

Mira:

Sits silently like a pouty child, but on the inside, she's plotting murder. Mira's jealousy could be seen as the calm before the storm type. If you question her jealousy, she gives a small giggle and laughs it off, but inside, her wrath is building. She is not the type to take her jealousy out on you, but god help whoever she thinks is trying to take you from her.

i really like when they adapt a series in a way that suits the new medium + provides alternate but harmonious development to the original series. adaptations don’t need to be 100% faithful to the original storyline as long as they remains faithful to the original themes and purposes

#.t #like i think my id is gangnam beauty adapts the webtoon really well #bc it creates a fuller story by developing the side characters soo much more + changing the pace of mirae’s development #without compromising the story or main themes #likes it’s a v introspective story in the sense that so much of it is focused on her internal dialogue #but they did a great job of externalizing that + adapting it for the format of a drama #there are things i like more about the webtoon but overall i prefer the drama tbh #vs sweet home + alice in borderland #where they make the central conflict the action to the point of neglecting #the main themes + characterization #sweet home obv takes an extreme turn away from the source material #but it gets v messy + confused at that point #like the writers didn’t really know what they wanted to portray…#but i think there are soo many ways they could have changed the story + elevated it instead #with AIB i think the show + especially the ending falls flat bc they stuck to the main plot points #without really weaving in the theme of ‘what’s the purpose of life’#with so much of the introspections and character dev cut out #i think it would have made more sense to have an alternate ending from the manga #bc that’s what carries the mangas conclusion #but it didn’t hold up as well……..

Read the first AIB manga for funsies, found out that in the manga tag game, Chishiya and Karube break off, but in the show, Arisu and Chishiya are the ones that team up initially......the show giving them more screentime together....so here's how Arisu x Chishiya can still win---

characters included; arisu, chishiya & niragi

ARISU RYŌHEI

When you’re playing a game with him and he begins to help you in it. doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a long-time player, he’s willing to do anything and everything in the game for you — whether it’s collecting items or helping you with boss fights, he’s there and eager. not to mention, that sometimes, he logs into your account and proceeds to level up your characters and farm items. Furthermore, when you’re playing with him, he’ll make sure to join your server/world and assist you. He also would begin to ramble on and on about the lore of the games and would somehow make it really interesting. He’s really passionate about playing games and he’s more than happy to help you in them.

CHISHIYA SHUNTARŌ

Whenever he’s at his job or doing regular mundane things such as reading or writing, he has a tendency to tie his hair. Sure, his hair covering his face is adorable but once the curtains of his silver hair are tied into the back of his head, it reveals his very gorgeous face and you feel yourself falling in love with him all over again. He doesn’t do it quite often but it’s honestly a welcomed sight for you.

Chishiya prefers to keep his personal and work life separate yet at times, he ends up over-explaining medical concepts to you. Whether you’ve gotten sick or gotten injured, in such cases, he begins to explain safety precautions and things you can do in order to help yourself. Sometimes, he doesn’t even realize he’s rambling and it’s honestly quite endearing.

NIRAGI SUGURU

It’s a rare sight to ever see Niragi wearing glasses; ever since graduating, he preferred to wear contacts or nothing at all. Though he has nearsightedness, he never wants to wear them since he finds them annoying and tedious. However, he sometimes wears them and wants you to not mention it all but you can’t help but enamour at him. He looks so different, so innocent. It’s as if he’s a fragment from his past, a past he desires to forget. If you compliment him when he’s wearing them, he’ll pretend to be all moody and complain but he’s actually really happy that you didn’t belittle him at all. He’s so used to being hurt and hated so he didn’t expect this response from you at all. He won’t ever admit it but ever since he realised that you like it and that you gave him compliments, he’ll start to wear his glasses more often.

Summary: Showering headcanons for our favorite snarky boy

Genre: fluff, smut, gn! reader

Note: Oh yeah, I'm back again! I've been gone for so long because of college, but I'm here again to revive the aib fandom >:3 also my first time writing headcannons. :DDD I think I got carried away sjjsjs

ok let's start with headcannons for the real world

as a doctor, he mainly takes quick showers

contrary to popular belief, i feel like he enjoys hot showers over cold ones. like he's already going to be stressed because of work, so might as well have at least one part of his day be a little relaxing

the only time you can take joint showers with him is during his off-days or if you stay up long enough to catch him coming home

he doesn't like it when you do the latter option because he firmly believes you should take care of yourself and sleep early

even though he runs on 3 hours of sleep maximum every day

he lets you wash his hair after initially (and weakly) refusing

you definitely use scented shampoo on him (strawberry because he thinks floral scents are too strong)

he prefers subtle scents because the hospital is already filled with strong odors.

he'll never admit he likes it when you wash his hair, especially when you massage his scalp

"did you purr a little?"

"I think you need your hearing checked."

loves it when you run your hands up and down his back

you mainly use showering as an excuse to dote on him

likes kissing your neck while you attempt to lather soap on him

random but he installed a non-slip mat on the floor because he doesn't want the two of you to get into any accidents

likes playing with your hair by gathering soap bubbles and dumping them on you

you don't point this out because you're scared he'll withdraw from letting himself be a kid for once

sometimes when it's been a rough day, he lets you hold him in the shower for a moment
