Finding a job after you graduate…/I hate networking…
I never really thought about applying for jobs after college because it’s honestly a miracle that I even made it to graduation day. I didn’t think about how many (metaphorical)balls(and metaphorical ladyballs) I’d have to tickle just to be considered for jobs either.
I’m an introvert and I’d rather quietly work hard rather than parade myself on linkdin or participate in “networking” events. TBH I see it all as social media for the business world and all the influencers are just faking it til they make it like the rest of us. I honestly think linkdin would be more helpful if it was a platform that focused on helping recently graduated students and not focused on already established business professionals bragging about their success.
I hate it all but I honestly wish I networked more… and made more friends during college because that would have helped me make more connections leading to more job opportunities.
I recently accepted a job at OHSU with absolutely no help from the college I attended and without networking on linkdin or going to alumni events. It’s possible, but I think it would have been easier if I would have… just something to think about…

Post Graduate, The Great Job Hunt; Update
After having applied for a variety of ‘professional’ ‘adult’ jobs, today I received an email with feedback after an exam and interview! Which from the preview of the first line looked good
‘Congratulations, you have reached the required standard for this apprenticeship...’
The next line:
‘but we are unable to offer you a job at this time but we could possibly offer a job in 12 months’
Okay...? Not exactly helping my impending bills this month.
So yeah, it’s not going swimmingly well but I do have an interview for Christmas temporary work as a ‘festive colleague’ at a well known supermarket... so not all bad! It’s hardly the dream job but it’s cash in the bank!

Lihatlah diriku sekarang
Tertatih tatih menjelajahi dunia maya untuk mengejar dunia nyata
Ragu mengabdikan diri demi masa depan akhirat malah meyakini diri bahwa masa depan dunia fana lebih menjanjikan
Dua bulan yang lalu aku berbincang dengan teman ibuku yg memberitahu kan ku mengenai pekerjaan akhirat
Sukarelawan di sebuah pesantren penuh akhlak
Tidak bisa memberikan upah besar yg membuat mata terbelalak
Melainkan beliau mengatakan bahwa tidak ada kontrak waktu untuk bekerja khidmat
Bisa lebih dari satu tahun atau selamanya di sana
Karena ini adalah pekerjaan yg diharapkan penuh pahala
Ibu begitu menunggu-nunggu jawaban "iya"ku untuk mau
Namun ketika mendengar bahwa tidak bisa sebentar untuk "bekerja" di sana
Pikiranku terbang melintasi daftar keinginan dan mimpiku
Bekerja di tempat yang sesuai dg kompetensi ku
Sebagai sensei/pengajar/ guru
Lalu mimpi yg membuat diriku termotivasi untuk bisa terbang ke negara tempat Saitama lahir, karakter favoritku
Hingga merasakan belajar mendalam dengan gelar yg tinggi
Kepalaku kalut, panik, dan muncul rasa kecut
Benar memang, aku meyakinkan diri bahwa ketika ibuku menginginkan nya aku mencoba meng iyakan
Dengan alasan selama ini aku selalu hidup dengan keinginan dan egoku
Makanya saat teman ibuk menjelaskan panjang lebar, aku hanya tertegun
Menjawab tidak jelas
Berkata bahwa akan mempertimbangkan
Hingga bisa disimpulkan bahwa aku enggan
Hari berganti
Ibu merajuk dan menunjukan kekesalannya padaku karena keraguan ku untuk ikut dengannya bersukarela pahala di Cirebon
Dan mulai bersikap ketus
Sekarang
Sekarang aku sibuk mengejar dunia
Iya dunia fana
Yang aku rasa yakin
Aku rasa menjanjikan masa depanku
Mencari pekerjaan yg sesuai akan diriku yg baru lulus ini
Dan mencoba mengekplorasi memperkenalkan diri dengan berbagai platform dunia profesional
Sudah dua bulan lebih aku melakukannya
Namun hasil tetap nihil
Sempat mendapat sebuah kesempatan untuk bisa bekerja
Namun karena tdk sesuai dg potensi diri
Hingga muncul rasa remeh temeh dari keluarga akan pekerjaan ku
Akhirnya sempat training selama seminggu
Mengetahui bahwa aku harus menelpon lebih dari 100 orang per hari
Menjelaskan dg baik kepada seratusan itu
Dan ternyata terlepas dari pelatihan 5 hari itu sudah 2 Minggu tidak ada kabar untuk penempatan posisi yg lebih jelas
Ahh...
Kembali lagi dengan keadaan yg sama
Keadaan bingung, iri, dan mulai merasa bodoh
Inilah yg aku dapatkan setelah ragu akan panggilan kebaikan dari-Mu Ya Allah
Saat ini hatiku sedih dan mulai merasa hampa
Inginku keluarkan air mata namun tak pernah berhasil keluar dibanding aku berhasil menangis karena sebuah adegan sedih dalam film atau drama
Rasanya malu sekali
Seperti mensyukuri akibat diri sendiri
Saatnya aku memohon ampun dan bertaubat
Dan mengharapkan bimbingan akan jalan mana yg sebaiknya aku tempuh saat ini
Serta menyemangati diri dengan mengatakan "ganbatte"
