Day 4 - Games

She-Ra - Adora x Best Friend Squad

A/N: I'M LATE! But then again I warned for being late, so it doesn't count! She-Ra remains one of my favorite shows, yet I've never written for it so I felt the need to change that. Hope you enjoy!

There was peace. Horde Prime had been defeated nearly a year ago, and during that time everything had slowly started returning to how it was before the Horde invaded. Etheria was healing, and the magic had returned to the land. The Princesses had gone back to their kingdoms, to put matters in order, all while remaining in the Princess Alliance. With the war being over, there was no need to plan counter attacks anymore, but it was definitely an excuse to hang out in Bright Moon every few weeks. Everything was finally okay. There was peace.

Everywhere but Adora’s and Catra’s bedroom, where the Best Friend Squad were currently playing games. Adora, Catra, Glimmer and Bow were sitting on the floor, currently in the middle of a game of Uno. If the war hadn’t been hard enough to test their friendship, this game definitely would.

“Uno!” Glimmer cried out as she placed her blue eight on the pile, a smug grin decorating her face. Said grin disappeared just as fast when she suddenly got bombarded with ‘take two’ cards from Bow and Catra.

“Take that Sparkles!” Catra cackled, giving a fist bump to Bow. They had gotten along really well over the past few months, and their favorite hobby was to annoy Glimmer. They were succeeding.

“Awww look at how cute she gets when she’s angry!” Bow cooed to Catra while pointing at Glimmer, ducking a little too late to avoid a pillow to the face mere seconds later, causing him to tumble backwards. Meanwhile Adora was sitting across the table with at least 15 cards in her hands, and a… smug grin? Way to smug for someone who’s losing the game, Glimmer realized.

“Adora? What are you smirking for?” The Queen asked with a smile and a raised eyebrow. This only caused Adora to chuckle.

“Well I’m obviously winning, with the amount of cards I have, so why wouldn’t I be smirking?” She asked, getting the attention of the others too. Glimmer let out a giggle.

“Adora, you do realize that the goal of the game is to get the least amount of cards, not the most?” She asked, leaning her cheek on her hand. Adora was such a dumb-dumb from time to time. The blonde started laughing.

“Nice try, Glimmer, but you won’t fool me like that,” She said with a grin, yet when Bow and Catra nodded in agreement, Adora realized how doomed she was.

“Oh for the love of Greyskull!” She groaned, putting her face in her hands – and cards – while the others burst into laughter. Glimmer wiped a little tear from her eye as she shook her head at Adora. That would explain all the times Adora had called ‘uno’ while having more than one card in her hand, resulting in her taking two extra cards as punishment. She loved her stupid best friend.

“Don’t worry, by the end of tonight you might get the hang of it,” She giggled, earning another groan from the blonde, who was blushing hard. They continued playing Uno, with Adora losing all of them, until a specific round where Adora was being a little too good at the game. She had somehow gone from ten plus cards to three in only a couple of rounds. It was a bit too suspicious, Glimmer noticed.

“Hey Adora, didn’t you have like a billion cards in your hands just now? What happened?” The Queen asked with a semi-knowing smile, immediately noticing a nervous twitch on her best friend’s face.

“Oh, haha! I just put them down like I have been doing, what are you talking about?” Adora said with a rather nervous smile. She was still a terrible liar, and both Catra and Bow started to realize something was up. Glimmer narrowed her eyes for a second, and then decided to take matters in her own hands by teleporting next to Adora. As suspected, there were plenty of cards simply laying all scattered over her lap.

“Aha! I knew it! You cheater!” Glimmer cried out as she dropped her own cards to tackle Adora to the floor. The blonde let out a yelp and instinctively reached for her sword to transform into She-Ra – her favorite way of cheating out of their wrestling fights – only to realize it was nowhere close. It was enough to make Glimmer fake gasp.

“You were going to change into She-Ra? To escape after cheating?? Oh that’s a crime! Bow! Catra! Get over here!” She yelled, struggling to keep Adora down since the Princess was pretty strong on her own. Sadly for her the duo immediately came to help Glimmer, and moments later Adora was pinned down.

“Guys! Let me up!” Adora protested, looking at the three faces staring at her. Or better, the three grins staring at her. Anticipation filled her stomach as she realized she was in trouble. Glimmer sat on her waist, Bow pinned her shins down and Catra held her arms over her head. Completely stuck.

“Oh no, you’ve been cheating Adora. You never cheated when we were young, what happened to you? So scandalous,” Catra teased, earning a playful glare from her pinned friend. Glimmer stared at Adora, a smirk slowly spreading on her face.

“I think I know the perfect punishment! Catra, Bow, you might want to hold on to her,” Glimmer warned, and Adora paled. She knew that look.

“No. No, don't you dare! Glimmer I swear to– AHAhhahahaha!!” Adora let out a cry of laughter as the Queen shook her hands into her friend’s ribs, immediately thrashing around. Catra couldn’t help but blush at the sight of Adora laughing. It did things to her she didn’t want to admit.

“Oh hell yeah, let’s tickle her to death!” Catra cheered, pinning the blonde’s wrists down under her knees so her hands were free. She wiggled her fingers teasingly in front of Adora’s face, before scribbling into her underarms. The Princess howled.

“BAAHAHAHAHA NOHOHOO!! EEHEHEHEE STOHOHOP!” She was yeeted into hysterical giggles immediately due to the combined tickle attack. She had had plenty of tickle fights with Catra when they were young cadets, and she had won most of them. She had had plenty of tickle fights with Glimmer and Bow since her arrival in Bright Moon, and thanks to being able to transform into She-Ra she had also won most of them. But with the three of them holding her down, and being unable to transform? She had no way of winning this one.

“Stop? No way, you’re being punished for your crime Adora! I say you’re getting tickled until you feel sorry!” Glimmer grinned evilly while clawing and pinching all over her ribs, yet shot her friend a wink. This made Adora feel at ease, but it also made her giggle faster.

“I cahahaAAHAHAN’T! IT TIHIHIHICKLES SO BAAHAHAHAD!” She shrieked when Catra switched to single nails to scratch into her underarms, arching her back as she tried to deal with the sensations. Glimmer smirked and yanked her shirt upwards, leaning in to blow a huge raspberry on her belly. Bow simply held her legs and smiled as he watched his friend howl with laughter under the tickle attack.

“Sorry Adora, usually I’d try to get her to be merciful, but you did cheat on us sooooo,” He teased, not participating because he didn’t want to overwhelm her.

“How does it feel to be on the losing end for once?” Glimmer teased, scribbling her nails all over Adora’s bare stomach. She knew that it wasn’t fair to grill her like that, especially since Glimmer nearly always initiated the tickle fights, but it was too much fun to actually win for once. She could get used to this.

“We gotta make sure to keep her sword away during game nights, wimpy little Adora is no match for us like this,” Catra teased, using her tail to brush against her girlfriend’s neck while wiggling all of her nails into her hollows.

“STOHOHOHOHOP! PLEEHEHEHEASE! I’M GOHOHONNA PEEEHEHEHEHEE!” Adora was roaring with laughter, all of the tickles bombarding her brain, especially because Bow had joined despite his better judgment, giving her knees a few ticklish squeezes every now and then. It felt good to laugh her heart out, knowing that she wouldn’t be berated for showing weakness like that. She felt safe among her friends. But she also felt like she was going to die if they didn’t let up soon. Glimmer noticed it was getting a little too much and decided to wrap it up, signing to the others to stop.

“Are you sorry for cheating?” She finally asked with a smirk, wiggling a single finger in her bellybutton, sending Adora in another giggle frenzy. The Princess nodded and kicked her freed legs – Bow had stood up to go get some water – while giggling her head off.

“Yehehehehes!! Plehehehease I’ll nehehever do it agahahahahain!” Adora promised between her laughter, and after a few moments of consideration Glimmer decided to grant her mercy.

“Good!” She said with a nod, stopping her tickle attack as she stood up. Catra released Adora’s wrists and stood up as well, but not before giving her a quick kiss on the forehead. Adora remained laying down on the floor as she caught her breath. Bless She-Ra for being able to recover fast.

“Well, it’s getting rather late so I think we should wrap it up for tonight,” Bow said with a smile as he handed the glass of water to Adora. “See you guys tomorrow morning!”

“Good idea, see you!” Glimmer said with a wink, before placing her hand on Bow’s shoulder, teleporting them to their own room. Deciding they would clean the mess tomorrow, the duo crawled on top of the fluffy bed and quite literally collapsed.

“So this is what a near-death experience feels like,” Adora said dramatically, earning an eye-roll and a chuckle from Catra.

“All those years of war, and this is what comes to mind when you think of a near-death experience? You’re such an idiot,” She teased. Adora playfully swatted at her, before pulling her closer.

“This is a much happier near-death experience. I wouldn’t mind feeling it again,” She admitted with a blush. She loved being tickled and laughing freely, but it was still embarrassing to admit it out loud. Thankfully Catra fully understood her.

“Don’t worry, there will be plenty more of those,” She promised, reaching out to give Adora a kiss, who hummed in approval. “You just need to learn to be a better cheater,”

Another hum.

“Like me,” Catra added with a grin, giving Adora a wink before turning on her side to sleep.

“... HEY!”

So the heart/miraculous of Modification got corrupted by somebody, so far no one knows if they’re a strong sorcerer or a lucky human, but it happened and is messing with all change mages.

Snow Cone King: And he uses the extra power to possess civilians and turn them into rampaging monsters who are supposed to hold the city hostage for the hearts of Destruction and Restoration

Coracle-Miracle: which are, btw, also the hearts of purity and chaos

Snow Cone King: How does that work?

Coracle-Miracle: Those two hearts are the strongest and have multiple tie-in clauses, like luck, but that translates to really dangerous and often selfish sorcerers so instead they split into sections within theirs. It’s really interesting actually! Jaclynn O’Conner wrote a really cool book on it, I suggest you read that.

welcome

this is a blog for my fan comic he-man heir of Grayskull, which is a reboot/reimaging of the origins of the character taking inspiration from multiple sources. it will run alongside a sister series she-ra heir of Grayskull which will be the same thing as this comic but for she-ra @sheraheirofgrayskull. my main account is @alicejeangreenlane

this blog is where i will post the comic and behind-the-scenes materials like character design and the horrible sketches of the comics.

what is the plot of the comic? glad you asked

Adam the soiled prince of Eternia who has never known war is thrown into conflict when old enemies of his parents start attacking his kingdom. Adam seeks the help of his banished uncle Keldor for help. Keldor tells Adam that to save the kingdom he must use the magic of castle Greyskull which can only be opened with the sword of power that has been split into two halves by the sorceress. Adam must reconnect the two halves of the sword of power before it is too late. but can Keldor be trusted?

thing you should know

you don't need to know anything about masters of the universe or she ra to get to the comic

the character will be kelp the same with only a few changes here and there.

Adam will start off the story selfish and grow into a kinder person.

all characters and locations will be redesign but still recognisable

Adam and Teela will be the main power couple of the series and will get together early on in the story and stay together going on to have a son together.

the comic will focus heavily on family drama and parent-child relationships

this comic will lean into Adam's existence as a half-human half-Eternian and how others treat him because he is half-alien. Because this heavily mirrors racism in the real world Adam and Adora will be half Columbian on their mother's side.

Teela will be the secondary character of the story.

mekaneck and clamp champ will be around the same age as Adam and grow into their roles .

there will be plenty of new characters but they won't overshadow the old characters.

@i-just-think-that-clones So to answer your questions on my last post, basically yes and yes. So in this au everything in the she-ra universe happened and this would be set way after Adora. Etheria and the surrounding planets are located Deep in the unknown region. Rex finds the sword in the ground in some crazy forest while on an outer rim planet that’s near the veil of the unknown region. He’s on a recon mission when him and the squad he’s with gets ambushed and he’s separated from the group. He stumbles upon the sword and gets this overwhelming compulsion to touch it like Adora did. Of course he does and is immediately bombarded with visions and falls unconscious and wakes up with the sword in his hand.

My take on the sword in this au is it’s blade is retractable so Rex can easily conceal it and tote it with him. He’s trying to make sense of it all when he’s attacked by droids again and soon after transforms into she-ra. After he’s demolished every droid in a mile radius he turns back to himself and now he’s really freaked out and panics a little bit but ultimately decides to stick to the mission and find his squad. After a long ass time of wandering around in what feels like an endless forest he starts to feel like he’s walking in circles even though he’s been tracking his position using the sun and locating equipment and what not. He stumbles upon a strange looking crashed ship and he goes in to see if he can use the radio or anything to boost his locators signal, but instead he finds this matrix crystal holocron type computer drive with an old old version of the Light Hope AI on it. Light Hope explains a little bit about what the she-ra is, and figuring the AI seems to have all the answers to his problem he takes the matrix with him. He eventually finds his squad and their on their way. In a few days the battle on that planet is over and they ship out back to Coriscant.

While he’s there he goes to the Jedi temple archives to do some research on this Etheria place but there isn’t squat on anything like it. Which brings him back to Light Hope who seems have all the answers he needs but like in she-ra she’s hiding things from him. Because this is a very old version of light hope it is still her prime directive to train the she-ra and activate the heart of Etheria which is important for later. Really all Light Hope does is insist he train as she-ra and protect Etheria like a broken record and Rex’s doesn’t really like the sound of that so he just kinda puts light hope on a shelf in his office. So for many months Rex goes about his life in denial and only uses the sword in secret. There were a few times during battle where Rex found himself in a no win situation where he needed she-ra or him and his brothers would die. Of course this is how the 501st found out and Rex swore them all to secrecy.

Figuring how he’s kinda secretly being she-ra now he might as well learn how to at least swing the sword right because the last few times he was she-ra he was a little awkward at it to say the least. He started sitting in on Ashoka’s training lessons when he could and got Anakin to teach him a bit on how to use a lightsaber thinking he could apply the same lessons to use the sword because he has no idea how to swing a sword around the right way but he quickly learns that lightsabers and broadswords are very different. Unfortunately for him he does in fact know someone who trains she-ra’s specifically. So in secret he trains as she-ra with the guidance of Light Hope in one of the training rooms while he has one of the 501st boys guarding the door for him.

After a few months more which would be set after Umbara Rex comes out of his denial stage and he just can’t take not knowing anymore. Why does she-ra exist? What is the sword really? Where is this Etheria? Why does he need to protect it? What is Greyskull? Who was Adora? Why did her ship crash and what was she running from? Why was the sword just abandoned in the forest like that? Who were first ones? What does any of this mean? Obviously Rex don’t know anything about anything, so it was easy for Light Hope to get him to walk through a portal she made with the promise of understanding everything he wanted to know without actually telling him where their going. Essentially light Hope kidnaps Rex to Etheria. She takes him to this old outpost on one of Etherias larger moons that functions as an archive.

It’s important that you know that this au it’s set like 3,000 years after Adora and Etheria is a very different place. So the first ones who were Eternians that were colonizing the planet for resources came back to Etheria once it came of of dispondos and hoard prime was defeated. Eternia hadn’t forgotten Etheria or what it was. They still wanted their planet killing weapon. It took many many years over many generations but Eternia took back Etheria. Like Hordak did with Scorpia Eternia took the descendants of rune stone wielders and raised them to be loyal to Eternia, which guaranteed their cooperation. The only missing piece was she-ra. Which leads us back to why and how Adora came to be half way across the galaxy and got passed a massive veil of black holes and crash landed on some nowhere planet. When the situation with Eternia wasn’t looking good and they had full control of the planet Adora and company tried to destroy the sword but failed. Her friends wanted to find another way but Adora didn’t think there was any way that wasn’t playing right into their hands so she fleas with the sword. Her plan was to basically rogue one herself like Mara did and dive into one of the black holes and get destroyed and be lost forever but something went wrong. See, Adora needed an navigation system to get her all the way across the galaxy, so she used the ancient Light Hope system she found and retro fitted to fly the ship. she got spit out the other side and crashed. Long story short that’s the deal with Adora.

Which brings us back to Rex. So Rex is digging through the archives and find out the ugly truths to why, how and what she-ra is and what happened to the last owner of the sword. So Rex was like uhh, hey can we leave now and she’s like oh no, I used the vast majority of my energy storage just to get us here, it’s going to take months, possibly even a year to get us back. Of course Rex did not appreciate that at all. And Light Hopes not bad really, it’s just she’s a very old program whose deteriorated then been rewired then deteriorated some more. She’s forgetful and has a lot of bugs and glitches which make her seem strange. She repeats a lot of stuff like a broken record because it’s what’s left of her base coding, she seems like she’s hiding things because there are gaps in her memories and it causes her to freeze up. She struggles between new and old coding which often puts her at odds with herself and it’s like she’s two different AI’s sometimes. Mixed with random coding deterioration glitches she can be… unpredictable. Ultimately she’s loyal to the she-ra, she’s just old and forgetful and it can be very unhelpful sometimes. Like now, because she’s stranded both of them on this ancient outpost half way across the galaxy in a sector that can for an unknown amount of time. Just great right? That’s about as far as I’ve gotten brainstorming wise.

Masters of the Universe (which was worse, this or The New Adventures of He-Man? Let me know in the comments!), Part 1

In the 80s, one of the hottest cartoons in syndication was He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. It was so popular that not only did he get a spin-off series starring a previously unknown twin sister named Adora (AKA She-Ra), but the 5-part series that introduced them was made into a feature film!

Naturally, someone would get the bright idea to capitalize on He-Man’s popularity by making a live-action film.

Unfortunately, as you will see, not much thought went into how to put together such a film.

The film starred Dolph Lundgren (previously known as Ivan Drago in Rocky IV) as He-Man. While he certainly looked the part, Lundgren sadly didn’t have the acting chops to pull off a Leading Role (which he proved again a few years later in The Punisher)

On the other side is Skeletor, played by Frank Langella (best known for playing Nixon in Frost/Nixon) in a horrible-looking mask. Langella did a great job chewing the scenery when he spoke, but was not up for any major action sequences, especially while wearing a horrible-looking face-covering prosthetic (which may explain why his screen time was very limited)

The rest of the cast I’ll reveal as they’re introduced (including two who would go on to better things)

We open in the throne room of Castle Greyskull, where Skeletor’s forces have taken the Castle and have all but conquered Eternia. Unfortunately for Skeletor, He-Man is leading the resistance against him.

Unfortunately for He-Man, Skeletor’s taking of Greyskull means he has the powerful Sorceress under his control (though she resists his efforts to use her power)

Skeletor then broadcasts his declaration of victory to all of Eternia.

He-Man is less than impressed with Skeletor’s gloating. He spots a squad of Skeletor’s forces with a prisoner tied up in a net. He makes short work of the goons…

…with a little help from Duncan (Eternia’s Man-at-Arms) and his daughter Teela, and frees the prisoner…

…Gwildor (played by Billy Barty in another bad prosthetic mask. Did this film not have a costuming budget?), who is the film’s comic relief. Personally, I’d rather have Orko as the comic relief, but I’m guessing he would’ve been more than the special effects budget could’ve handled.

He-Man wants to know why Skeletor wanted Gwildor, so takes He-Man and the other to his home and shows them…

A device known as the Cosmic McGuffin Key, capable of opening a portal to any place in the universe. Skeletor’s lieutenant Evil-Lyn stole the only other copy of the Cosmic Key (which explains how Skeletor breached Greyskull’s defenses)

He-Man prepares to do the same to take Grayskull back, but Skeletor’s forces find them first! Fortunately, Gwildor has a secret back door that leads under Greyskull (HOW CONVENIENT!) and they escape before the front door is breached. Hopefully they remember to shut the back door.

Inside Greyskull, the group see the Sorceress trapped inside Skeletor’s magic field.

Naturally, He-Man doesn’t care. Gwildor works on attuning the Cosmic Key to the field imprisoning the Sorceress as Skeletor’s goons approach…

…with Evil Lyn directing the charge, and Skeletor not far behind. Skeletor then monologues about his plan to steal the Sorceress’s power at moonrise (which one? I thought Eternia has two moons), then unleash his fury upon the universe! Then Evil Lyn spots Gwildor.

With the jig up, Duncan tells Gwildor to set the key to take them away, but doesn’t specify where (you’d like working with Orko all those years would teach him to be specific) Gwildor punches a bunch of random buttons and a portal opens. Unfortunately, the Cosmic Key is shot and damaged as they jump through!

Skeletor, naturally, is livid.

And where did they wind up?

So not even Gwildor knows? Greeeeeaaaaaat…

Even worse, when they landed, they lost track of the Cosmic Key!

Then they encounter a native to this strange world they’ve landed on.

…a cow? Yes, He-Man and his friends have landed on Earth. I guess they didn’t have much of a set design budget either. Anyway, the four split up and look for the Cosmic Key so they can return, fight a few thousand of Skeletor’s goons, and free the Sorceress before moonrise gives Skelertor Absolute Power. No pressure or anything.

Later, at a nearby rib and fried chicken shack, we are introduced to Julie (played by Courtney Cox, who would later be one of the Friends) on her last day of work and preparing to move to New Jersey after her parents were killed in an accident (I’m so sorry…both about losing her parents and moving to Jersey)…

…and her sorta-kinda ex-boyfriend, a musician named Kevin (played by Robert Duncan McNeill, who would go on to play Tom Paris in Star Trek: Voyager), who Julie broke up with since she was leaving. As they drive off together…

Back to Kevin and Julie…they’re visiting Julie’s parents’ graves and we get some backstory on her parents’ death (they died due to changing plans after Julie “had to study” wanted to spend time with Kevin. However, as they leave…

…they find the Cosmic Key. Kevin thinks it’s some sort of synthesizer (I mean, it does make music as it works) and plans to incorporate it into his gig that evening. They then activate it.

…giving Skeletor a signal to trace. He orders Evil-Lyn to open a portal to the Cosmic Key’s location the next time it’s activated and send a squad to retrieve it (and He-Man)

Later at the local high school, as Kevin does his sound check for the school dance (with Julie offering emotional support. I thought they broke up?)…

With that, he once again activates the Cosmic Key. With that, Skeletor sends Evil-Lyn’s hand-picked squad (and a few mooks) to retrieve the Cosmic Key and drag He-Man back so Skeletor can gloat.

Back on Earth, Kevin wants to show the Cosmic Key to his friend Charlie while Julie wants some alone time. Three guesses what happens while Kevin’s gone.

The Goon Squad rush in to capture Julie (since she might know where the Cosmic Key is). She escapes, but…

Man, Kevin’s gonna be pissed when he gets back!

Fortunately for Julie, He-Man is in the area looking for the Cosmic Key as well.

He-Man stashes Julie in a secluded spot and hands her his pistol while he deals with them.

With Skeletor’s goons chased off, He-Man asks Julie about the Cosmic Key.

Speaking of the Key, Kevin talks to Charlie (played by Barry Livingston, who played Ernie on My Three Sons) about his cool new synthesizer.

Suddenly, Charlie sees police cars and fire truck whizzing by and he checks the police band to see what’s happening (three guesses)

Kevin rushes back to the high school and is confronted by…

…Detective Lubic (played by James Tolkan, who played the principal in Back to the Future) Kevin demands that Lubic look for Julie, so Lubic packs him up and off they go!

Meanwhile, Duncan and Leela report that the Goon Squad got away. They hear a banging and turn to attack!

…but it’s only Gwildor in a car that matches his hair. They all pile in and off they go!

WILL He-Man and his friends be able to RETURN to ETERNIA?

WILL they defeat SKELETOR before it's TOO LATE?

WILL someone give the producers a budget for...ANYTHING?

These questions and MORE will be ANSWERED in the exciting CONCLUSION!
