A/N: At this point everything I've written for them is self indulgent. These silly idiots make me happier than I want to admit. Enjoy!
Summary: It's been a full year since Max had to leave Chloe behind so she's struggling. But at the same time, it's been a year since Max returned to alt Chloe's life, and that calls for a celebration.

âMax, come home as soon as youâre done working! We have something important to tell you!â
Max had been staring at Rachelâs message for at least five minutes, trying to figure out what the important thing could be. Sheâd foolishly gotten her hopes up for an instant, thinking it would be a way to go home, before remembering that Chloe and Rachel knew none of that. Disappointment had overwhelmed her right after, and sheâd been doing her very best to shake it off. It had been exactly a year since sheâd left Chloe behind, and it weighed heavily on her. She had to return home, no matter what. Max gave another glance at the message, a small smile tugging at her lips. At least she wasnât truly alone. With a sigh she packed up her stuff and left Paulâs cafe, making her way towards the house.
âChloe, Rachel, Iâm home,â Max said as soon as she closed the front door behind her, carefully dropping her bag with the laptop on the floor. When she was greeted with silence, she raised one eyebrow. Odd. Sheâd figured theyâd be home after that message.
âGuys? Where are yâ oof!â As soon as she turned the corner of the living room, she got bombarded by several pillows, and was smacked in the face by at least one. Laughter immediately filled the room as she landed on her butt, and she could see Chloe and Rachel sitting on the couch with quite literally every pillow in the house piled next to them. Theyâd been awaiting her. Traitors.
âGot you!â They both yelled with a giggle, giving each other a high five right after. Max shook her head with a wide smile as she picked up two pillows while standing up.
âOne peaceful day in my life, thatâs all I ask for,â She chuckled, walking over to the duo of gremlins to playfully rub the pillows all over their heads, messing up their hair. This earned various yells and protests.Â
âHa! You should have known better,â Rachel giggled while batting the pillow away. Chloe reached over to poke Max' ribs several times, making the brunette drop the pillows with a laugh.
âPeace was out of the window the day we became friends, Maximus,â She grinned, and Max couldnât argue with that. She was completely right.
âVery true. So tell me, why did I have to hurry home? Besides being so rudely attacked by you two, of course,â Max asked with a smile, folding her arms. Chloe and Rachel looked at each other with a smirk, before jumping up from the couch. Max yelped and closed her eyes as she expected to be tackled to the ground, so she was very confused when they hugged her.
âHappy anniversary!â They cheered, wrapping their arms around her. Max blinked several times, still very confused as she looked at them.
âUhâ as far as Iâm aware, itâs not my birthday today?â She asked with a giggle, making the two of them laugh. Chloe pulled away to place her hands on Maxâ shoulders, smiling at her.
âI know, silly, Iâd never forget your birthday. But itâs been one year since youâve come back to me, and that makes today a very special day,â She explained. Max was stunned as she looked at her best friend. All day sheâd only been thinking about how itâd been a year since sheâd left her Chloe behind and how sad sheâd felt so she hadnât realized that at the same time sheâd made Chloe here super happy, by showing up in her life again that very same day. Chloe had made her look at it from a whole different perspective, and for the first time that day she didnât feel so miserable.
âYou may not realize it, but your presence made a big difference in our lives, Max. Weâre lucky to have you around,â Rachel added, placing her head on Chloeâs shoulder who wrapped an arm around her girlfriendâs waist. Max blinked the tears away as she smiled at them, pulling them in for another hug.
âThank you, both of you. Today has been pretty rough for me, but you two just made it a lot better,â She admitted, smiling a bit wider as they embraced her tightly.
âAnytime,â Rachel smiled while gently squeezing the back of Maxâ neck, making her giggle.
âSo, today weâre celebrating, and Rachel and I came up with a genius plan!â Chloe smirked as she pulled free from the hug, putting her hands on her hips.
âOh? Genius plan? I guess Rachel came up with it then,â Max snickered, quickly hopping out of reach as Chloe attempted to grab at her.
âShush you. Rachel, if you please?â Chloe said, making a theatrical bow for her girlfriend. Rachel grinned and stepped forward and grabbed both of Maxâ hands.
âWell, it was actually Chloeâs idea for the most part, donât let her fool you. We were thinking about what we could do today, and what we could do to make you feel included, since youâre part of our little âfamilyâ after all. Thatâs when we thought about how we never had the chance to hang out together when we were young, and wellâŚâ She said, looking at Chloe with a smile.
âWe figured weâd start making up for that today! Letâs have the official sleepover with the three of us we never had as kids!â She finished with a grin as she put her arm around Maxâ neck. Max couldnât help but smile widely at that. Not only would it take her all the way back to when she and Chloe were young and had sleepovers, sheâd also get to spend it with Rachel for the first time. She sadly never had the chance to meet Rachel in her own reality, so this kinda felt like making up for lost time.
âAre you cereal?â Max asked with a grin, knowing exactly what she was doing. Chloe let out a surprised laugh at that.
âOh wow, I havenât heard that one in a long time! Okay yeah, weâre definitely doing this. One epic sleepover coming up!â She grinned widely, putting Max in a headlock as she playfully ruffled her hair.
âHey let me go! Rachel hehehelp!â Max giggled as she tried to free herself from Chloeâs strong grip. Rachel immediately grabbed one of the pillows and started hitting Chloeâs back with it.
âLet go of her, you fiend!â She declared with a laugh, bombarding her girlfriend until she finally let go.
âOhoho I see, choosing Max over me, huh? This betrayal wonât stand!â Chloe said with a mischievous grin, grabbing a pillow as she launched a counterattack. Rachel squealed as she tried to defend herself against the taller woman, failing spectacularly.
âOh no you donât!â Max grabbed a pillow herself and let out a battle cry, running towards them as she started playfully whacking her best friend. When Chloe still refused to surrender, Max decided to cheat pull out the big guns. She dropped the pillow and started tickling under Chloe's arms with an evil grin, who immediately burst into laughter and sank on one knee. Chloe tried her very best to continue her 'assault' on Rachel, but with the combo attack of Max tickling her and Rachel hitting her with a pillow she stood no chance.
âStohohop! Okay I yihihihihield! Now stahahahahahahp!â She cried out as she curled into a ball on the ground, using her pillow as a shield. They both grinned and stopped, giving each other a high five.
âThatâs what you get for being a bully,â Rachel teased, putting her arm around Maxâ shoulder.
âYeah take that! Us short people gotta stick together, amirite?â Max grinned at Rachel, only to giggle loudly and dance away as her friend poked several times between her ribs.
âDonât you start with me, you brat,â She warned with a grin, putting her hands on her hips as she looked at her with a raised brow. Calling Rachel short was forbidden when she was within earshot. Max giggled and held her hands up as a sign of surrender.
âWell we already had a pillow fight, so I guess we can take that off the âsleepover to doâ list. What else is there?â She smiled at them. Chloe stood up with a grin.
âDonât worry Max, we already have everything planned out,â They said at the same time. And Max quickly found out they werenât kidding.
The next hours were filled with various activities, from baking cupcakes to dancing around on the bed while singing along to their favorite songs, to having yet another pillow fight to anything they could think of that fit the âsleepoverâ theme. It was also when Max discovered how evil Rachel actually was. She had suggested painting Maxâ toenails, to which Max had happily agreed, unaware of the incoming danger. However, when the blonde had started painting her nails, she also lightly wiggled her fingers against the bottom of Maxâ foot, sending the poor girl into a giggle fit and making it impossible for her to sit still.
âHold still, Max! Stop being so squirmy, I canât paint your nails like this!â Rachel playfully scolded her with an innocent smile while wiggling her nails under her toes.
âI cahahahanât! Youâre tihihickling mehehehehhe!â Max cried out with a blush, trying really hard not to jerk her feet away or kick Rachel in the face. She laid herself back on the bed while laughing her head off, and eventually Chloe had to grab her best friend in a tight hold to prevent her from rolling away in an attempt to escape. Rachel grinned evilly and decided to drop the act, now simply tickling Maxâ feet until the poor girl was reduced to a pile of wheezing, breathless giggles.
âYou okay there?â Chloe asked with a giggle as she let go of Max, who rolled on her back on the bed while catching her breath.
âYour⌠girlfriend⌠is evilâŚ!â She playfully cried out while pointing a finger at Rachel, who merely winked at her.
âThat's what you get for calling me short. And it's not my fault your laughter is so contagious! But if you still trust me enough, I can actually finish painting your nails now,â Rachel suggested with another innocent smile, playfully rolling her eyes at the glare Max shot her.
âIf you tickle me again, Iâm hiding all your make-up tomorrow,â Max threatened, which earned another playful eye-roll from her friend. After painting her nails for real, they moved on to the next and final phase of their evening, which was getting into their pjâs, ordering pizza and watching horror movies. Max sat in between Chloe and Rachel after theyâd insisted, and smiled brightly as the two of them leaned against her. They laughed at the poor decisions from the main characters, they shrieked at jumpscares, Max hid herself behind a pillow during most of the movie, and they had a ton of fun. About halfway through the second movie Chloe had fallen asleep and was snoring loudly while fully leaning against Max, who was dozing off herself against Rachel. She could feel Rachelâs arm around her shoulders, her nails gently trailing up and down her arm, and a smile spread on Max' lips. What had started as the worst day in a long time somehow ended up turning into one of the best ones, thanks to them.
When she was with Chloe and Rachel, she felt like anything was possible. Maybe even going home. But for now, being here with them simply made her happy. And so she fell asleep, happy.

Summary: Chloe is being a brat for not doing her chores, so Max and Rachel have to persuade her a little.
Warnings: Fluff! All the fluff!
Word Count: 1551
It all started as a very chill day. Both Chloe and Max had the day off from work, and Rachel had no current streams, so the trio was lounging in the living room. There was a comfortable silence, as each of them were doing their own thing, until Rachel stood up.
âAlright, who wants to have some fun?â She suggested with a smile, making Chloe and Max look up at the same time with a smile.
âIâm always up for something fun,â Max replied, putting her book to the side as she sat up straight on the floor. Chloe remained laying on her back on the couch.
âIâm game. Whatâs on your mind, babe?â She asked, putting her phone away. Rachel paused to think, as she didnât have an actual plan yet.
âHmm, letâs see. we couldââ She started while making her way to the kitchen to get something to drink, before abruptly pausing again. âChloe Price!â She said sternly, making her girlfriend look up as if she had been whipped.
âHuh? Yes? Whatâs wrong?â She asked, sitting up straight immediately. Rachel was thumping one foot and had her hands on her hips. That usually meant bad news.
âChloe, itâs your turn to do the dishes today!â She scolded, pointing towards the three dirty plates and glasses on the counter. Chloe couldnât help but let out a laugh, relief washing over her.
âRachel oh my god, donât do that please, you scared the hell out of me!â She chuckled, waving her hand at her girlfriend. âDonât worry, Iâll get them done,â She said. Rachel looked unimpressed.
âHow Iâd love to believe that. Except, itâs the second time this week youâve been skipping this chore. Max, tell her,â Rachel said, folding her arms as she leaned against the doorframe of the kitchen. Max hadnât planned on getting involved, but with Rachel looking at her like that? She had no choice but to cooperate.
âRachelâs right, Chloe, I did them the other day after youâd forgotten them,â Max said with a raised brown and a smile. Chloe stuck out her tongue at her, giving her a âwhoâs side are you onâ glare.
âGo on, be the responsible adult you are and clean the dishes,â Rachel urged, yet didnât sound stern anymore. Sheâd never actually get angry over something this small.
âBut mooooom, the couch is so comfy! Iâll do them later!â Chloe playfully whined, placing her arms behind her head while laying herself back down on the couch, as she figured the danger had passed. Rachel looked at Chloe with mock disappointment and let out a sigh, fighting off a smile as she turned to Max.
âSee what I have to deal with for the rest of my life?â She asked, earning a laugh from both of them.Â
âYou love it, really. However, I do remember that when I used to stay at Chloeâs place as a kid, Chloe would refuse to do the dishes too. Her mom always had to motivate her a little,â Max recalled with a smile, barely dodging a pillow to the face from Chloe.
âMax Caulfield, you hush,â Chloe said, only to be hit by a pillow in her own face moments later.
âThere. Max, you were saying?â Rachel smirked, walking over to the brunette. If there was one thing she loved, it was teaming up with Max to bully her girlfriend.
âJoyce had many different techniques when it came to making Chloe give in when she was being stubborn, but this one,â She said, suddenly reaching over to give Chloeâs side a few ticklish squeezes. Chloe shrieked in surprise and immediately curled in on herself, her arm yanking down to cover her side. âThis one always worked best,â Max smirked at Chloe while standing up, ignoring the shiver running down her spine as Chloe glared daggers at her.
âMax youâre SO dead!â Chloe playfully growled, yet recognized the danger as her best friend and girlfriend surrounded her. She tried to make a run for it yet before she could even fully get off the couch, Max had grabbed one of her ankles, making her roll down on the floor.
âGet her!â Rachel cried excitedly, sitting herself down on Chloeâs lower back to trap her. Wasting no time, she started drilling her fingers up and down her ribs, making her girlfriend burst into loud, wheezing giggles.
âRaahahahachel! Rach nohohoho!â Chloe tried her very best to hold back her laughter and buck her girlfriend off of her, yet she simply couldnât as Rachelâs pesky nails were scribbling all over her sides. To make matters worse, she suddenly felt a set of nails tickle the bottom of her foot, making her roar.
âRachel yes. This is what you get for making us do your chores,â She scolded, poking one finger between her ribs on each side while smiling brightly. If she was completely honest, she wasnât even annoyed anymore, or doing it as a punishment. Sheâd simply take any chance she had to mess with Chloe, and make her laugh while she was at it.
âYeah, this is what you get, Chloe,â Max teased, lightly scratching her nails against the middle of her foot while holding her ankle in a tight grip. Chloe was already dying, banging one fist on the floor while burying her face in her other arm.
âYou suhuhuck! No STOP! STOHOHOHOOP! THIHIHIS IS MUHUHUTINY! BAAHAHAHAHAA!â She was laughing her head off at the double attack, deciding to do the only thing she could think of at that point. She reached backwards with one hand, wiggling her nails against one of Rachelâs knees. Her girlfriend yelped and stopped tickling for a moment to try and cover her knee.
âAahahaha hey! Stohohohop! Oh now youâve done it!â Rachel almost growled with a wide grin, reaching forward to wiggle her nails under Chloeâs arms. It worked, as Chloe immediately slammed her arms to her sides with a loud squeal, rolling around with the limited movement she had.
âUh oh, looks like Chloe Price is about to die. May she rest in pizza,â Max chuckled, scribbling her nails side to side underneath her best friendâs toes. It was the one thing that always drove Chloe crazy when they had tickle fights as kids.
âOKAY STOHOHOP! OOHOHOHO STOOHOHOP! I CAHAHAHANâT!â Chloe finally pleaded, closing her eyes shut as she blushed. Sheâd been defeated by tickles, yet again. Even her own body was betraying her!
âStop? Does that mean you give in, Chloe Price? Thou shalt surrender this little rebellion, and thou shalt finally do thy duty?â Rachel teased in her acting voice, still wiggling her nails under Chloeâs arms. Chloe could only frantically nod, too busy laughing her head off to even reply to that. Rachel and Max shared a glance, smirked, and only then stopped their assault. Chloe was a giggling mess for a while longer, rolling onto her back as she slowly caught her breath.
âWe have successfully defeated our Captain!â Max teased, holding up her hand to high five Rachel, who eagerly smacked it. Chloe shook her head and rolled her eyes with a grin.
âThat we have, Max. I think this calls for a promotion, donât you think?â Rachel asked, briefly shaking her clawed hand into Chloeâs stomach, who let out a girlish shriek while rolling away.
âI donât see why not. Youâre officially Captain for the day, Ms Amber,â Max said with a smile, dramatically bowing in front of her friend. All three shared a laugh, and Chloe finally decided to sit up.
âYou two are so mean to me,â Chloe playfully whined, leaning her chin on Rachelâs shoulder.
âYou love it,â Rachel countered with a smile, patting her blue hair while kissing her cheek. Her girlfriend huffed, yet didnât even try to deny it. They all knew Rachel was right.
âMaybe youâll learn to do your chores instantly from now on,â Max teased, leaning backwards just in time to avoid a flick to her forehead from Chloe.
âJust you wait, Max, Iâll get you for spilling my secrets like that,â Chloe promised with an evil grin, making butterflies appear in Maxâ stomach. Honestly she looked forward to that.
âFrom now on if you donât do your chores within the time limit, you get punished for it. All in favor?â Rachel asked, looking at the two women sitting next to her. Chloe and Max looked at each other for a moment, before nodding with a smile.
âAye aye, Captain!â They both cried out at the same time, making Rachel burst into laughter.
âGood. Oh and Max?â She said, standing up as she loomed over the brunette, putting her hands on her hips. âI believe I asked you to fold the laundry earlier today,â Rachel said with a grin, pointing towards the very much not folded pile of clothes. Max froze.
âAh shit,â She groaned, realizing Rachel just had switched from âhelp Max bully Chloeâ to âhelp Chloe murder Maxâ. The urge to rewind time was suddenly very present in her mind as she looked at their evil grins.
âGet her!â Rachel yelled with a smirk, before pouncing on Max along with Chloe. Among the loud laughter that filled the house once again, one thing was certain. They had definitely settled on their âfunâ for the afternoon.
Hey there! I had to temporarily unpin it to make place for another post, so it's currently floating somewhere on tumblr. Not to worry, it'll come back eventually!
fucking love when I'm on a call with someone and they start to do a little errand or go somewhere else and they say "and you're coming with me" like. absolutely I am let's go on an adventure I've been spirited away
Surprised I havenât seen anyone talk about how Max is probably terrified of storms now-
I think she would be too, at the very least in the initial aftermath of the storm! However, one of my more angsty headcanons is that Max and Chloe suffer from storm anxiety long after the events of Arcadia Bay.
For Max, it comes in the form of overthinking. The rumble of thunder in the distance always makes her wonder if the past is chasing her. Depending on which ending she's gone through, she has two different concerns. If she's sacrificed Chloe, then she worries that her best friend's death will be for nothing, and the town will be wiped out, with no way for her to go back to the cliffs.
If she's sacrificed the town, she worries she could be a harbinger of death and chaos wherever she goes. All it it takes is a little rain for her to question if the universe is still angry about it's unpaid price.
Chloe tries to be the steady one for Max's sake, but she has a lot of problems with storms as well. She's always checking the SCP for weather updates and pays close attention to any odd weather phenomena near them. Storms are also hard for her emotionally. It's hard not to feel the rain on her skin and be taken right back to the lighthouse. It's hard not to hear the roar of lighting and know it was one of the final things Joyce heard. It's hard not to hear people talk about the crazy weather in their town and think about her town that no longer exists.
It's hard for me to think Max and Chloe wouldn't come out of Arcadia without some level of storm anxiety, especially because we see the severe effect the storm had on people more distant from it, like Steph. And as someone who's had personal experience with her town being hit by a tornadoâŚyeah, that sticks with you. But! It's nothing that can't be recovered from, and I'm sure Max and Chloe will in the long term.
hey im really sorry about everything thatâs happened :( are you doing alright? /genq /nf
Hey there! Thank you for your support and your kind words! I'm doing good, thanks for asking! The anon apparently still hasn't given up so this whole thing isn't over yet, but at least people know the truth about the whole situation now.
thinking of having my arms pinned up by a ler, they nuzzle and coo into my neck with light growls. they smile as i giggle and shriek with light laughter, kicking my legs in between squeals.
but
also having my tummy lightly tickled with spidering and teasy kisses on my ribs- like !! please? đŤ
Do you realize how great and wholesome Rachel and Maxâs relationship couldâve been?
Letâs not talk about the comics for a second, and letâs focus on Max and Rachelâs characters in the game.
First of all, Max is so patient with people in general. No matter how many times Kate pushes her away, she still wants to help her until the very end, not once does she resent her for it (rightfully, but ykwim), no matter how many times Chloe treats her unfairly she still sees her as her number one priority, and we can argue that she can be an asshole with Victoria, but every time Iâd pick the option of being mean to her it would just feel OoC to me, so if we only look at the path when sheâs understanding and patient with Victoria too, we get the picture. Max is incredibly understanding and patient with people. Like, sure, she sucks at comforting them, but she stays. And thatâs arguably one of her best character traits.
So, if we take Rachel, who has a really hard time being her true self and opening up to anyone, so much that even Chloe wasnât sure she really knew her, and Max, who is super patient and can often see right through people (since the beginning of the game, she can tell Victoria is insecure, she immediately knows Frank is bad news, she has her own analysis of everyone in her class even though she never talked to themâŚ), and we add the fact that Max and Rachel have a lot of things in common, I think we could have a really great dynamic.
Plus, I genuinely think Rachel would be great for Max. We see at the beginning of the game how sheâs insecure, and to me, Rachel would be the kind of person to cheer her up, and to show her her qualities, because she would really appreciate her. And on the other hand, Max would help Rachel keep her feet on the ground, and I think she really needs that sometimes.
Basically, this meme makes me think of what a potential dynamic between Chloe, Rachel and Max couldâve looked like :
Look me in the eye and tell me Iâm wrong.
Anyway, so yeah. Thatâs a shame they never met (again, if we leave the comics aside).
