#before i complain for the rest of these tags i should clarify this isnt vent art or anything lol we're cool#the fuckin. entire creative process behind the initial idea for this to what it is now is. 📱💥#the idea came at first on account of connecting the dots between two song lyrics#but when i came up w designs that would properly call back to said songs i was like ...#well this would just kind of look like me n saltwater wouldnt it. so i said fuck it its them#or would be. bc ive also been sitting on this for months i didnt start it until like 2 days ago -_-#also i had to bust out 3d models for this and ohhh my god tryign to figure out how to a) pose them and#b) translate that into a sketch that would reasonably fit my normal art style took. foreever#i ended up sketching the pose out like 3 dif times before landing on the one that i went over for these lines O(-<#and then i Fucked Up the head tilt anyways its hardly even tilted its just kind of awkwardly offset from the neck#oh well. theres other compositions...#n honestly like i think aside from the head (the actual point of the piece ...) i honestly didnt do too bad#definitely most limbs and hands are all a bit janky but like definitely not as janky as they couldve been yknow? which is cool#also enjoy the faces those did turn out particularly well i think. so like that is swag too. but god this is underwhelming#im just sitting here like wow this one rules (still disappointed anyways)#one last tag ijust realized i forgot the hair curl. exploding myslef immediately now#anyways i have to add categorizations now..#my characters#myself#underneath the dock

¹ actually tho speaking of blue (language rant incoming) many cultures have different ways of categorizing colors and our color perception is in part shaped by that! a lot of languages differentiate btwn lighter hues of blue and darker hues of blue (e.g. russian and turkish) SO when i say "blue" i am actually thinking of the color "mavi" which refers to lighter shades of blue!! isn't that rly fucking cool!! the other word "lacivert" refers to the darker shades of blue. now, mavi is the more general name for that color, and lacivert could be considered a shade of mavi, but even then, a lot of native turkish speakers would find it super odd to call a super dark blue thing mavi. even calling something koyu mavi (dark blue) wouldn't be the same as calling that thing lacivert even though lacivert refers to a darker blue, bc guess fucking what there is also.....KOYU LACİVERT!!! isn't language so cool. i love thinking about language and words wait what was i doing

what made you pick up the muse you have? i'll pick a few: zeus was because i was obsessed with greek mythology thanks to percy jackson and other books i had read, but specifically with hades. when i stumbled across a group rp waaay back in the day that seemed cool, i wanted to join but hades wasn't available so i went "i guess i'll give zeus a shot" and the rest was history. i added athena bc i watched age of ultron for the first time, saw lizzie olsen and went "THAT'S ATHENA!!" i added demeter bc there were no active dem's at the time and i missed her :(
is there anything you don't like to write? there is very little i won't write, i think, under the right circumstances. i find super mundane stuff boring after a little while, but that doesn't mean i don't like it period. i guess i don't like writing things where my muses feel like punching bags *coughszeuscoughs* but i mean otherwise, i'm game for most things!
is there anything you really enjoy writing? FAMILY DYNAMICS are like. my number one. i love dads getting to bond with their kids. i love sibling shenanigans. i love family taking care of each other, i love family arguing, i love family opening up about their pasts and painful experiences. i. love. family dynamics so much, FOUND or otherwise! i'm also a fan of intense angst situations, too.
how do you come up with your headcanons? pure vibes, man. once i really get a feel for a character as i write them, the headcanons kinda just write themselves. some of my more in depth ones come from a lot of thought and speculation, usually done by talking to myself in my room lol, but i really just... imagine them up. sometimes it comes from talking with others, but that's slightly rarer.
do you write in silence or listen to music? usually without music, unless i actually have a space to myself and can throw on some instrumental stuff. but yeah, its usually just with the ambient sounds and chatter of my house.
do you plan your replies or wing them? sometimes i plan them when i first read them because i have a good idea, but for the most part, i wing it when i get to them.
do you enjoy shipping? for the most part, yeah. i can sometimes find shipping a little... repetitive. so i really do need a strong connection between muses and some exciting stuff to throw in to keep it interesting. i much prefer platonic / familial ships, but i do love a good romantic one, too!

Timpanist (he/it) is nicknamed Val, jpnese version would be Oo(shiki) or just Midori bc that's a bit more presentable name
The Cellist (they/she/he). Uh. I don't have a set nickname for them I usually just call them The Cellist/ cellisake I think they'd be okay with being referred to as that too. I've also called them Algin even tho that's technically not who they are... I've seen Blade as a nickname for them but something like Jr or Kid in reference to the whole "First Child" thing could work. Idk I'm indecisive ig they have a lot of nicknames

The Cellist and Faith started the band and Val joined soon after. Perhaps it makes more sense for it to be the other way around but I feel like with the Cellist being stubborn and more out there with their ideas that they'd initially forgo a more traditional instrument until they realized something was missing.
Val and Faith live together. The Cellist lives alone, maybe nextdoor w/ a lil pulley system between the two houses. Houses made during the Salmon Run are not really meant to be long term so this was meant to be a temporary arrangement to streamline their work but as you can see it's been some time.
Faith finds this nice, they were pretty much homeless and just couch surfing pre omega 3 and ended up moving in w/ one of them in their permanent ocean residences and they decided for the Salmon Run to keep a similar idea
Faith likes a lot of urban, cool culture. Streetwear, graffiti, hip hop and break-dancing... etc etc. They're also very tech savvy. Preferred genres r edm/techno, rap +rnb and punk...
Val enjoys an active lifestyle. Into travel, camping, fishing and more outdoorsy things, working hard, eating well, taking part in festivities and trying to give back to the community when he's not too caught up in his own stuff. Likes traditional salmonid music a lot but also pretty big on grunge and nu-metal
The Cellist likes reading and interacting with art that is like. "good enough" for him. Most of it is confusing or dreary. Likes coffee in the morning and maybe a small glass of scotch on a lonely evening. And being right. As for genres he'll go for whatever he thinks is groundbreaking in specific songs mostly regardless of genre.. but I feel he'd like rock. Probably post punk and more experimental stuff? Maybe folk and some classical music... idk idk!!! If anything it's mostly stuff like Trout Mask Replica...
The Cellist does however claim to not like pop music. This is usually not a lie but. She does actually like some of the Squid Sister's songs maybe even some stuff from OTH or C-Side. She would rather die than admit this.
I do feel like if any of them had to choose a favorite band of the ones we know DJ would choose Dedf1sh or Sashimori maybe C side.. Val would go for bottom feeders and Cellist would say uhh ink theory may be.. it’s good jazz music

They have all physically fought on multiple occasions. There's been at least one near breakup too
The Cellist's dorsal/hair fin is greying, their coloration is also a bit warmer than other salmonids
Val is not completely blind it its injured eye but its vision is fucked. It's also sensitive to light and sensation which is a major reason for the eye patch
They all respect each other as musicians and people and deep down they all care but they really do argue a lot. They're not really people who blend well together at all. DJ rebels against all that is mainstream and all they don't like and even stuff they're more neutral on for the hell of it. They kindof think they're cool for being a jackass but theyve also just become very callous bc they didnt have a choice when they were younger... and they kind of feel like they're still on the defense. Esp since the other two are more experienced and older and tend to treat him like a kid sometimes esp the cellist...
Val means well but he often struggles to take others into account. He's very goal oriented, a one-way track sort of guy who often acts more than a little clueless or even selfish. Not as petty or stubborn as the Cellist but he's got a lot of inertia. That and he's just... kind of shit at socializing in ways that don't piss other people off. Says a lot of accidentally insensitive stuff too. Comes off pretty intense to some as well!! And the Cellist. Well. Stubborn, emotionally repressed, physically and verbally clumsy... they are also a very sensitive person with a lot of emotional empathy where they kind of sponge up whatever vibe they feel, but they don't quite have the ability to act on what they think would make things right!
So yeah they fight a lot between these clashing personalities that bring out the worst in each other and other creative differences. The stress of the job adds to it!
Faith has an older sister. Val has two older brothers and many younger siblings. The Cellist is an only child which is uncommon in salmonid society
Faith is a Goldie, at least partially so. Val is a cohock from a family of steelheads and Big Shots and is extra durable bc of this. The Cellist is a Maws or meant to be one... he either did not complete training or retired due to his clumsiness...
All of them have healthy appetites esp Val and the Cellist
Val and the Cellist have both been in different bands before. Val was in a rock band that only lasted a summer when he was like 17-18 and then was part of a traditional salmonid music ensemble for a couple years before ω-3
As for the Cellist they’ve been through a couple different musical groups. They left most due to creative differences and not getting along with band mates.
This is the DJ’s first like. Band. Before this they just did solo gigs and posted stuff online

favorite thing to cook/bake: fudge! im a simple being, i see a fudge recipe i try it out! i just made a bunch with my mom and its got a toffee/caramel texture so we split it up and wrapped it wax paper and keep it in a jar in our fridge, and we were joking while making it about selling it when she opens her dream store (hopefully she does!)
favourite craft to do in your free time: i really love origami and sewing, i dont do them often bc i just dont have a lot of free time but sometimes when i watch a movie ill work on one of my sewing projects (i hand sew things together, i just made a fridge jacket and i think next on my list is to embroider a cowboy shirt 😄)
most niche dislike: summer outfits, i love layers and sweaters and turtlenecks and having to sacrifice that for 🤢 a shirt and shorts with NOTHING ELSE???? no thank you, i have to wear layers
opinion on circus(es): i think the concept is super cool, i dig the idea but ive never been to one and i know that they have a reputation of mistreating the people and animals involved so id have to do some research before ever attending one

Last thing you read: A Woman’s Place is in the Brewhouse! its this lovely nonfiction about the culture of beer and how women are the real brewers of history and how women have always spearheaded beer culture despite it being a stereotypical “man thing” and deals a lot with revisionist history in culture and religion literally dating back to the ancient world. there's a really cool section about the ancient sumerian goddess of beer thats like directly next to a passage about one of the OG craft brewers of the american craft beer scene who actually opened THREE spots in philly and ive personally had a lot of conversations with her picking her brain about women in modern beer culture.
Last book you enjoyed reading: see above, but also A Touch of Jen, starts out as psychosexual obsession with a woman over social media, very quickly takes a left turn to kafka-esque, cronenberg-ian body horror
Last book you hated reading: i had to put down colleen hoover bc her writing style reads very YA which is valid and a lot of peoples thing but 100000% not mine.
Favorite thing to cook/bake: i really like cooking halloumi bc its easy and the tastiest thing ever, that and making soups.

Most niche dislike: i dont think this is niche but like the entire experience of driving. especially like right after i cut someone off and and they act like i killed them, or if i have a friend in the car and they tell me i drive “too safe” and try to rag on me to drive faster. but like. i just want to live in a walkable city.
Opinion on circuses: i am anti. bc if it has animals, its abusive and should be abolished. if it doesn't have animals, its ethical and morally and legally fine, but personally gives me the ick. i cringe.

Tell us about your D&D character: she's a bard and a greek maenad, dionysus’ main side piece! she was recently gifted a magical flask which can release a geyser of wine in defense if i need to get away quickly. she's firey, mean, spoiled, wildly connected to nobles of the land, and the charisma lead of the team. think nicole richie in 2006 but also a bard in ancient greece.

♤ A moment I remember clearly that I'd love to go back to is sleeping with Milo. He used to curl up right under my neck and it was the cutest fucking tag ever, it was so comforting and I may have died from allergies but it was sooo worth it man ohmygod
◇ Eating at Red Robins with my mom right before going to a concert. Ider which concert ngl but idk it was just . Such a happy moment. Tbh all of the concerts I've been to with my mom (tswift, nick jonas and demi levato, tøp) are all very fond memories of mine. They were all superrr fun :))
♡ oooo idr if i mentioned this in the other one but CHOIRR vocal jazz was a lot of fun, like going downtown with everyone? It was Such an Experience man /pos
♧ VISITING MY AUNT UP NORTH ON THE ISLAND OHKYGODDD both times but i def preferred this last time bc i got to do a lot more exploring of the town myself :D i love my aunt and i love my baby cousin, he's such a menace but he's fucking adorable and really fun to hang out with (even if he gets a little much sometimes). The island itself is gorgeous and wow... the amount of wildlife i got to see was so dope. And just . We went to this small side island and we had the island to ourself LIKE A WHOLE FUCKING ISLAND . TO OURSELF IT WAS SO COOL MAN OHKYGOSHHH that trip was honestly so fucking cool man i loved it smmm i cant wait to go back rahhss
♤ watching the flash (before it got bad) with my mom :)) those times were honestly so lovely idk it was Our Special Bonding Time wout my siblings it was just . Really specisl and nice
◇ fencinggg, i miss fencing so much man, i really hope i get back into it this year omg. The feeling of doing well, outsmarting someone, dodging, getting a point. Ahhhh, there's nothing else like it. So satisfying. I miss the way it felt to be completely and utterly fluid with the the blade.

♧ this one morning my dad and stepmom making pancakes while listening to ccr. My stepmom kept being like "wait this song is ALSO ccr?!?!?" bc she knew of the band but she never actually knew all the songs were by them it was really funny but also super lovely
♤ christmas. I love christmas man. Specifically waking up early in the morning to the smell of coffee and land of knod (a type of cinnamon bun thingy that my stepmom always makes), dibbying out all the presents to every person as we all choose our spots, opening presents. Christmas cookies, i looove christmas cookies, i love making them tooo.
◇ playing dnd, both with my fam and with my friends. I have so many chaotic and silly moments from that. I miss dnd so bad
♡ this one time i stood outside in the pouring rain on the grass in my socks. It was such a... freeing moment. Bc yknow people hate getting their socks wet, it's very cursed, but i Did it. I did it on purpose. And it was so nice honestly. Just the feeling of the rain pressing down on my skin, the cool air breathing on it compared to the suffocating heat from inside my house... ough i love rain
♧ in a similar but almost opposite fashion, lying down in the sun on the grass field outside of our highschool. It was so calming. I still love lying down in the grass, I do it at uni too. I just put on some music and just... enjoy the moment. I dig my hands into the dirt. I love the feeling of it on my skin, i love looking at its lasting impression, even after i wipe my hands clean of it. It makes me feel alive and content to be in that moment.
♤ hehe watching tommys vlogs with my stepmom. Back when tommys vlogs first started coming out, they came out weekly, and i was visiting my stepmom weekly too so it worked out. It was a lovely lil routine between us :))
◇ scrapbooking with my dads wife, it was such a fun creative outlet and i actually got to do something with my photos for once, rather than have them just sit on my phone
♡ driving with my stepmom up that same beautiful highway i mentioned last time, going up to the waterfalls with my stepmom
♧ OOOHH HIKINGG so many hikes but there was this one Insane one where we had to 4x4 up this mountain and we went to the top of the peak and there were so many wildflowers and barely any ppl since its such an intense hike and omg it was so peaceful i wanna go back...

@llycaons tagged me to list 5 books i want to read this year! this is an excellent way to start off the year now that i’ve fully settled into reading again. let’s see what i still have on my shelf/in my bookmarks that i haven’t gotten around to
the priory of the orange tree - i got this one for christmas and i’m really looking forward to it! i heard a lot of good stuff about it and im very fond of fantasy, especially when it’s unique and puts its own spin on genre tropes, which this seems to do
she who became the sun - i dont remember where i heard about this title but i had this on my list for a while and the premise seems super interesting. i’m thinking i might save this one for my next book club pick, bc i think it might be good to get my irl friends out of their comfort zones and make them read a story set in 14th century china lmao
the bedlam stacks - i recently finished 2 other works by this author (the watchmaker of filigree street and its sequel the lost future of pepperharrow) and while i have my issues with those books, i did enjoy them. ive actually had this book on my shelf for longer, so i’m excited to finally get to it and give it a proper go. if a book is set in the 19th century and there’s some vague magical elements going on, im already interested tbh
female general eldest princess - ive seen this one around in my cdrama mutual circle and honestly you got me at ‘lesbians’. i heard there’s some not great stuff in it (colorism/racism and perhaps incest i think? i might be wrong) but i also heard it’s a mostly well written romance with really interesting political intrigue
circe - okay so first things first, i did read the song of achilles when i was 18 and i did love it at the time, but i do have a lot of problems with it now, most of them concerning the characterisation of patroclus. however, after all these years i am still interested in greek mythology and i think the concept of retelling ancient myths is cool, so i’m going to give this a shot
honorary mention to the empress of salt and fortune, because cor mentioned it! i already started the audiobook for this a while ago, but i haven’t finished it yet. it hasn’t quite grabbed me yet, but i like it enough to try and finish it soon.
