Icarus
Okay, so my yandere kick may be lasting a little longer than expected. Though, I do have an idea for a series (?) now. It'll be a story focusing on each of the boys and letting them have their time to shine in their, ahem, devotion. Although he's not my fav boy of the bunch (still love him though), Sky's story came to me first and it came in swingin'. It's a little shorter than my previous posts but I hope you all enjoy!
TW: Yandere themes, blood, gore, descriptions of torture, a lot of talk about harm by fire, Sky goes off the deep end
The chunk of wood in his hands was unassuming. It was light, partly sanded, and cut from a stray piece of driftwood. Unlike logs or planks used in building houses or inns, this wood was soft. So when his knife began to scratch and peel at it, the wood offered no resistance. With nimble and trained fingers, Sky carved away at the wood. His motions were fluid and he showed no fear of nicking himself on the sharp blade of his carving knife. Even as the wood started to form into a recognizable shape, Sky did not pause. Every cut was nearly rhythmic- musical if the wood could sing.
Eventually, Sky sets down his blade and picks up a finer tool. He starts carving out a set of small eyes and then a little, pointed beak. He begins to sharpen the outlines of plumage on the carving’s chest and adds tiny details to its folded wings. The petite talons come next and are shortly followed by refining the tail feathers. Finally, Sky pauses to wipe off the carving and looks at the little bird now resting in his palm. It was a plump little finch that looked absolutely adorable.
The smile on Sky’s face when he stares at his creation is large and blissful. Gently, he brings it up to his lips and kisses the wooden figure. The kiss lasts for a few seconds before Sky pulls his newest creation away.
“My little songbird…” Sky sighs with content. He continues to give the figure doe eyes full of nothing but admiration and love as if the chunk of wood hung the very sun up in the sky. His vision is suddenly blocked as hands cover his eyes. The hands are gentle and soft as not to accidentally hurt the Skyloftian. Even before they speak, Sky knows exactly who this is.
“Guess who~”
“Hmm… did you get a new callous on your hands, Time? I though we told you to take better care of your hands?” Sky jests.
“Wha- hey! There’s no way my hands are anything like that of the Old Man’s!” You gawk as you pull away from Sky. He laughs, light and carefree as the breeze. Before you can back away any further, he grabs you and pulls you down to the ground with him. His smile is blinding as he stares at your pouting face. He resists the urge to pinch or pull at your puffed up cheeks even if he finds your mock annoyance to be irresistible.
“Ah, lighten up! Here, look at what I made!” Sky giggles as he shows you the little finch carving in his hand. The sour look is immediately replaced by something gentle and sweet that has Sky practically puffing up his chest. Like it was made of glass, you take the carving from Sky and observe his craftsmanship. You run your fingers across every notch and groove, engrossed with every detail.
“It’s so cute, Sky! It’s a finch, right?” You ask as you continue to examine the bird.
“Yup! Aaaaaaannnnndddd… it’s yours. I already have enough wooden carvings as is and I know how much you love anything related to animals,” Sky announces. He feels his heart melt as your smile widens even further. You hold it close to your chest and Sky does everything he can to not think about how his lips had just touched the carving. How the wood he had kissed was now flush against your bare skin.
“If you keep making little figurines for me, the rest of the boys will think you have a favorite among us,” You warn with a light hearted tone.
“But what if you are my favorite person? I’ve no problem with letting anyone know that, you know. If they want to be jealous, let them. I’ve no time to deal with their pettiness,” Sky counters. You roll your eyes at him, not taking the comment seriously. You lean forward and place a quick kiss to Sky’s cheek. He suddenly finds himself incapable of breathing as his cheek burns from the action.
“Anyway, Wild wanted me to stop by and tell you that lunch is almost ready. Venison and cabbage stew,” You state before walking away. Sky doesn’t respond or even react to let you know that he heard you. After a few more moments, Sky’s body finally draws breath and he’s left panting against the tree he had been sitting against. His eyes are barely open and are dilated to the fullest degree possible. His grin was loopy and loose like he was buzzed out on the best drug in all the realms. And he was.
And it was called obsession love.
The love he felt was like the sun itself. It was blinding as he registered nothing but you whenever you were around. It was full of life as everything seemed a little more lively when you were near it. It was immense as his senses were overwhelmed by you, you, you.
And by the stars above did it burn.
Any touch from you felt like it would scald his skin in the best way possible. He waited patiently for the day to come that your touch would finally leave a mark. That his body would become a tapestry for you to torch with your gentle hands and sweet words. When his patience ran thin on certain days, he considered asking the Smithy for a hot rod of iron so you could finally brand him. Brand him as yours and yours alone.
But you would never do that- not even if Sky pleaded with you to do so. Even though he and everyone else were broken and battered souls, victims of a vicious cycle he started, you handled them like they were priceless. You would hold them during rough nights as their demons clawed at their minds. You’d do your best to rock them in your grip like they were no more than babes out of the crib. Your whispered praises and hummed lullabies were sweet and addictive like honey straight from the pot. You had to know the affect you had on him and the others.
And if you didn’t, Sky would have to remedy that immediately.
He would sing songs of your kindness until his lips went dry and his throat bled and cracked. He would write pages of poetry in your name until his hands gave out and even then he wouldn’t stop. He would slay monsters and men alike and serve you only the best pieces of them on a silver platter as tribute. He’d parade through the streets of towns and settlements with nothing but word of you on his tongue so others may know of true divinity and not the falsehoods that were practiced in their churches. He’d get down to the very ground like a worm, a maggot, a bug and kiss the soles of your feet with more reverence than Hylia herself has ever seen. Whatever it took, he would do.
“Oi, Airhead. You done spacing out?” Legend jabs as he pokes Sky’s side. Sky blinks a little and realizes that he’s back at camp. When did he get here? For how long has he been zoning out? He hadn’t made a fool of himself in front of you, had he? Would you like that, if he did? Would you want that?
“I’m here,” Sky coughs as he goes back to eating the soup served to him by Wild. He looks around the camp for you and finds that you’re sitting in between Wind and Hyrule. From what he can hear, you’re telling them a story about something that once happened to you. Just a random and wacky tale about an event in your life, but Wind is absolutely enraptured by it and Sky believes Hyrule’s eyes are a blink away from turning into hearts. He smiles at the sight, happy that his brothers know to look at you with nothing less than pure devotion and admiration at your every word and action.
He didn’t bother to butt in, though. He was perfectly content with observing your brilliance from where he was sitting. Your exaggerated movements, your lopsided grin, your inability to stop yourself from chuckling before any punchlines were delivered- it was all so divine. Even with the noon sun shining down on the group, you shined brighter. It was as if you were the Goddess of Light, not Hylia. And you were, he knew you were. She was little more than a fraud compared to you. Her light was cold and unwelcoming. Your light was warm and comfortable and gentle and beautiful and addicting and so much more than Sky could ever hope to describe.
But there were also times Sky believed you were a divine being of fire.
While Sky wanted to keep you away from the battlefield at all times, he couldn’t deny the presence you had on the field. You were quick to find out you had a stronger arm than you realized and wanted to put it to good use. Unlike the rest of them, you preferred the blunt and brutals ways of a mace over a blade any day. Slowly, you began to armor yourself in metal plate and padding. It wasn’t long until you looked nothing less than knightly when on the field. Sky had to praise Four for crafting the armor you wore as it did its job and did it well. Stars above, did you wear it well.
He would never not be in awe of you when you took to the field. You never bothered to hesitate when faced with monsters- not anymore, at least. You were fast, accurate, and deadly. Your silver armor would always be quick to be coated in red and black ichor. Despite the gore that would surround you or cling to you, you never stopped being in the spotlight. Even when the days were cloudy or dark, Sky could always see you shining and shimmering amidst all the chaos. It was only more proof that you really were the light in his life.
And when the battle was done? He’d stay back and let Hyrule heal you before letting someone shortly scold you for your “reckless” behavior. When the crowd would let up, Sky would swoop in and sing his poetic praises until you and he were red in the face. Even if your hands were still armored and bloody from battle, he would still seek out their touch- to feel that burn he was addicted to. There was something about them, fresh from the violence and gore, still taut and heavy from adrenaline, that made him feel like he’d be scorched into cinders. He loved it, adored it, yearned for it, needed it, and couldn’t survive without it.
He would do anything for it.
“Sky… what did you do?”
But he never stopped to realize how you could make him freeze.
It was supposed to be a fun night at the town. Maybe enjoy a few rounds of cards with his brothers or a mug or two of warm ale. For once, he wasn’t glued by your side as you had gone out window shopping for some new clothes with some extra rupees you had. You had taken Wind with you for company and so the adults could be, well, adults. Sky didn’t realize how badly he needed to unwind until he was laughing and joking with his brothers at the table. He was also happy that his bad luck wasn’t his bad luck anymore.
“For fuck’s sake…” Wild grumbled as he nearly threw his rupees at Sky. Sky only laughed at him as Time began to collect the cards and shuffle them.
“If you want, we can play a different game,” Wars offers as he slings an arm over Wild’s shoulders. “How about… Old Maid or Go Fish?”
“How about you choke on your own dick and die?” Wild growls as he takes a swig from his mug. Instead of being reprimanded for his crude words, everyone at the table simply laughs at tonight’s sore loser. To rub salt in the wound, Sky loudly kisses one of the rupees Wild had coughed up. Wild’s glowering stare made it clear that Sky’s days were on the thin line of being numbered.
The picture of an ideal night was shattered when the doors to the inn flew open. Your feet seemed to barely touch the ground as you sprinted up to your room. While Sky stumbled to get out of his seat, the rest of his brothers were quick to follow you. As he hurried to catch up, his heart twisted and shattered as he heard your muffled cries. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t get past Time and Twilight as they guarded your room. Sky could vaguely see Hyrule, Wars, and Wild comforting you. You were frazzled and hiding your face with your hands. His sun was hiding behind clouds of gray and he desperately wanted to know what he could do to make you shine again.
He listened as you blubbered about being harassed by a handful of hooligans on some street corner. How they had nitpicked everything about you from your looks to what you were wearing. At how they had followed you around and called you every name under the sun even as both you and Wind told them to stop. The nail in the coffin- their coffins- was when you said that they had attempted to hit you during their verbal assault.
Sky suddenly found himself thinking clearer than he had in awhile.
It wasn’t hard to track down the vermin wenches. They were loud and obnoxious as they stumbled around town. It was clear they were all intoxicated to hell and back. He himself wanted to laugh, but not because of their drunken state. No, it was laughable as to how easy this was about to be.
“Weeellll heeelllooo there, good looking. Out for some fun tonight?” One of the ladies asked with a loopy smile. The alcohol on her breath combined with her abundant use of perfume made her positively pungent. Sky hid the curl of his nose under pretending to wipe it before giving the trio his best smile.
“Well, it depends on your version of fun,” Sky chuckled as he took her hand. It was thin and weak. Breaking it wouldn’t take much force, but that could come later. Sky needed to corner these heretics before he could punish them.
“Oh, we can give you some great fun, mister~. Far greater than whatever that thing is that you were traveling with,” another chimes in as she wraps her arms around his torso. It takes every ounce of willpower Sky has not to tear them all in two right then and there as he knows she’s referring to you. That means that they had seen you and the group walk into town earlier. That means that they’ve likely been waiting to pounce on you for the past few hours now. Oh, their punishment was surely going to be rough for their wicked planning.
It didn’t take much to herd them into a quieter part of town. He nearly pushed them all into the first abandoned building he found. He lead them further and further into the building until he was sure than not even the loudest scream would be heard by any guard or citizen. Now, all that needed to be done was bring these sheep to the slaughter.
He was quick to take away their chances of escaping as he swung the Master Sword at their legs. He hacked at them until not a single one of the swine before him could stand. His sudden assault was quick to sober them up as they all started to shriek in a horrible symphony of noise. Sky thought of going for the throat to shut them up but that would kill them and he didn’t want to grant them that relief just yet.
His next target was their hands. The very hands that had attempted to harm you earlier. Had they been reaching for you in admiration, he may have been a little bit more gentle as he understood the desire well. But no- they wanted to hurt you. Perfect, divine you. Such blatant heresy made his mouth bitter.
Lastly, he carved into their flesh. His letters were shaky as the sinners thrashed around under his grip and that he wasn’t used to carving with his trusty sword. He wished that he had the foresight to bring his tools with him so that the words would look a little neater. Oh well, as long as their sins were visible, it was enough for him.
“May you plead for forgiveness on your judgment day. Pray to whatever gods and goddesses that you believe in for mercy as I am fresh out,” Sky growled at the bodies at his feet. With precision, Sky plunged the tip of his sword into each of their chests. For a moment, he was tempted to carve out their hearts and present them to you. Would you take his bloody offering? It was something all gods and goddesses were accustomed to, so surely you’d praise Sky for his devotion. You always did light up when he handed you his wood carvings, so perhaps you’d love these carvings all the same?
It was a shame, then, that Sky’s anger didn’t die down once your aggressors were dead. He continued to maim the bodies until they were but mush and sinew surrounding him. Their blood seemed even more putrid than that of the black blooded monsters he and his brothers would slay beside you. He couldn’t be seen near you in his current state- no, not at all. He was a mess and positively filthy. You had dealt with those sinners enough tonight so he wouldn’t dare make you even see the sight of their rotten blood.
If only luck continued to remain on his side, in that matter.
“Sky… What. Did. You. Do,” You repeat as you stare down the man before you. How had you known he was here? How did you sneak away from his brothers? What were you thinking of him, at the moment? Were you disgusted with him? He could understand that, this was easily the dirtiest he’s been all his life. Were you angry with him? That’s okay, if you were- you could take it out on him. And don’t worry about holding back, he could take it. But… were you scared of him? Oh please, please don’t be scared of him. He couldn’t fathom what he would do if you were to view or even think of him in terror. Don’t think of him as a monster, please don’t. He’s your knight! Your hero! Your ever loyal follower!
The emotion in your eyes was something Sky couldn’t place. It wasn’t warm, it wasn’t sweet, it wasn’t sour, it wasn’t anything he had seen before. All he could call it was cold. Cold, cold, cold, cold. The blood in his veins slowed as it seemed to freeze into slush. The sweat and gore on his body was cold as ice and Sky found himself shivering. With a shaking hand, he sheathed the Master Sword and fell to the ground.
And he prayed.
“Please, (Name), please forgive me. Forgive me for my actions and transgressions. Know that what I did tonight was to defend your honor. Know that everything I do is for you and never against you. Please, have mercy on my soul and forgive me of my sins. Only through you can I ever be cleansed. Please… please… I’m sorry, so… so sorry…” Sky sobbed against the stone floor. His hands were clasped before him as he pleaded for your forgiveness. Would you be kind and forgive him? Wash away his sins with your sweet words? Or would you be rough with him? Deny him of salvation and leave him to languish in his mess? Make him plead and pray just like those he fell moments ago.
“Link, look at me.”
Sky snapped to attention as you used his name. You got on your knees before him and acted slowly as if he were a feral animal. You brought a handkerchief to his face as you wiped off all the grime and the tears.
“I’ve never seen you make such a mess before, Sky. This isn’t like you,” You sigh as you continue to wipe down his face. Whatever chill that had been in your eyes and tone was gone now- slowly melting away. Sky was thankful as he was sure he was about to be frozen solid.
“They were sinners. Heretics. Vermin. They made you cry, made you doubt yourself. I hate seeing you cry so I had to deal with what made you upset. If they were taken care of, then… then you’d be happy again, right? Now that they’re gone?” Sky whimpers as he looks at you for even a hair of acceptance. Even a sliver of praise that made it clear he had done right. Just… anything.
“While I would have used different methods, there’s no use in crying over it. I can’t change what’s been done- not this,” You mumble as you pull away. Fear grips Sky again and he grabs onto your retreating hands. In an act of selfishness, he presses them against his face and feels. Feels that tell tale burn he craves as it penetrates his skin. Feels you instinctively flex your fingers and barely dig your nails into his face. Feels your very pulse pump through your veins.
You free a hand from his grasp and dig it into his hair. He whines as you tug at his locks and he finds it in himself crawls towards you. He lays his head against your lap and pants from the heat they give off. Your touch is nothing short of blazing as you run your fingers through his hair and down his neck. He hopes you leave red in your wake as you rub his shoulders. He hopes that finally, finally, he’s done enough to earn your mark.
“My sun… oh my sun. Burn me, please. Scald me, burn me, torch me, melt me… please oh please. Burn your handprints into my skin and brand me with you lips. Let me know the fire of your touch for now and forever more. Melt away my legs so that I may forever kneel at your feet. Turn me to ash in the pyre of your soul so that I may know what it’s like to live,” Sky confesses as he clings to your lap. He smiles as his shoulders seem to be relieved of a burden he was unaware he was carrying. His every want and desire that’s festered in him since he saw you for the deity you are has finally been laid bare.
Soft and featherlight was the kiss you planted on his ear. It twitched and fluttered as your hot breath fanned across it. Sky whimpered as he felt your teeth graze the fragile flesh, as if looking for the best spot to bite. He did his best to muffle his whines and pleas but he couldn’t help his excitement- not when he was so certain he would finally be awarded with your claim on him.
His joy falters when you pull away and leave his ear aching. You help him stand and begin to walk him away from the bloody scene. He apologizes profusely for getting blood on your clothes but you tell him to shut it or else. He listens without further complaint.
Getting him into the bath house without being noticed is far from easy but you were never one to turn away a challenge. Once inside, you strip Sky of his linens and discard them. Where, he doesn’t know. He does know you though and knows that the blood soaked clothing will be well hidden enough to not be found for a few days. Long enough for you all to pack up your things and leave before the stench gets bad enough that they’re discovered. And even longer still until what’s left of the sinners is found. Though, Sky believes scavengers will sooner be attracted to the feast before any guard is.
Sky scrubs himself down and tints the bath water pink while you fetch him new clothes. He scrubs until he’s sure his skin will fall off as he knows you’ll scold him if you see even a single drop of blood left on his person. As quickly as he’s in the water, he’s out and getting dressed. You offer a quick and believable excuse to the innkeeper as you drag the stumbling man up the stairs and to his room. Wars raises a brow when you bring Sky to the room and nearly shoves the knight into the captain’s face.
“Keep any eye on him- please. I’ve had enough trouble tonight,” You groan before promptly leaving and shutting the door behind you. Sky ignores Wars’ stare and gets into his bed.
“Do I want to know?” Wars eventually asks as he pinches the bridge of his nose.
“It doesn’t matter. I’m forgiven and the sinners are dead. Nothing more to tell,” Sky states cryptically. He settles in and doesn’t even care that his damp mop of hair wets the pillow beneath his head. Even with the lackluster response, Wars understands the scenario well enough.
“Never imagined you to be the one to get sloppy…” Wars mumbles as he gets back in his own bed. “I’m sure the Old Man will tan your hide come tomorrow, but that’s, well, for tomorrow. Though… I gotta ask; What did you get out of it?”
“I got to confess my sins and I was forgiven for them. Even if it were not done to me physically, I’ve finally been branded by our deity,” Sky sighs dreamily as he hugs his pillow tightly.
“Finally got close enough to get burned?”
“Yes. And I can’t describe how much I enjoyed the fall.”

*slams open door*I see requests are open!
May I request something nsfw with one of the chain where reader doesn’t know how to swim?
Reader just randomly brings up one day that she can’t swim and ask the chain for lessons. The chain obviously isn’t gonna give up the opportunity to see her in a swimsuit help their darling
I want to say that the best swimmer amongst the chain would be the one to help her but I’m not sure who that would be?
They don’t want to overwhelm her so they decided on having 1 on 1 lessons with her would be ideal, but they’re all just fighting on who has the better swimming skills/experience
Once someone emerges victorious, whether due to a begrudgingly unanimous decision or reader just going “oh, maybe ____ is the best choice!”, they manage to find a lake separate from the others
While reader enjoys her swimming lessons, no one says the Link giving her the lessons won’t be having wandering hands ;)))

💚anon!
Last time I told someone I couldn't swim, I did not live them down. I still have not lived it down.
Slight! NSFW So Minors stay away anyway?
You didn't say if you wanted Sage or not, but I added him anyway bc I love him <3
CW: sage is a big of a perv. but c'mon. We knew that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"C'mon in, Y/N, the waters great!"
Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes-
"I'm okay for now." Your smile was as gentle as it was luminescent. Curving just enough to have the apples of your cheeks warming, but not enough to make your eyes crinkle in that positively adorable way. "Thank you for the offer though."
Re-emerging from the water, Hyrule shook his hair free of water before pushing it back. "Why not, love bug? Don't you wanna cool down?"
Staying out there meant staying out of their reach. Staying out there meant risking yourself in the elements. Staying out there put you at risk, didn't you see that?! You could get heat stroke, or sun burnt, or attacked by a rabid deer who's being chased by a feral bear. There were an unlimited number of possibilities that spelled nothing but disaster for you. And he couldn't handle losing you like that. Not in a million years.
Cherry red dusted your ears as they twitched and lowered, the tips touching your now hunched shoulders. You avoided their gazes, fiddling with the hem of your tunic. Why weren't you looking at them? Why weren't your eyes on them? WHY WEREN'T THEY THE CENTER OF YOUR UNIVERSE IN THE SAME WAY YOU WERE THEIRS?!
You mumbled something, which made their ears twitch only for it be in vein. A few glances around showed no once else had caught that either.
"Mind repeating that, dove?" Sky asked, still on shore with his own tunics half-off.
"I can't...swim." You grumbled, looking a tad more frustrated then before.
Silence.
"Well, why didn't you just say so, sunshine, I'd be thrilled to teach you." Arms wrapped around your mid-section, toned and muscled. Dark ink caught the peripheral of your vision. He all but purred into your ear before sharp canines caught the shell, gently pinching it before releasing.
"Sage-" You startled, arms flying out.
"You learned to swim with Sharks. Why the fuck would we trust you to teach them?" Hyrule snipped, eyes narrowed on their newest member. Hyrule had seen a lot in his time, don't get it twisted, but Sage was something new. A whole different creature. He was feral at best, down right savage at worst; with teeth sharper than some of their knives and a moral compass more broken than any villain he's ever faced off of. So in , what world would he trust that fucking loose canon with the most precious thing in his life?
"Because I still learned in clear waters. Not toxic dumps." Sage snapped back, those same teeth on display
"Knock it off." Time barked at the duo, glaring down Sage for his glare of disobedience before turning to his precious star shine, voice must softer than it previously was. "Have you just not wanted to learn? Or do you not have the opportunity?"
You shuffled a bit in Sage's arms. "I just- My old town was landlocked. Any lakes we had were used for fishing in the summer and frozen in the summer." You admitted. Which is a totally reasonable excuse. And not silly. And totally valid. And learning to swim is stupid and dumb anyway. >:(
The arms wrapped around your waist moved so hands could brush against your hips. Somewhere in the lake, there was a shout from Wind before a loud splash, someone throwing the poor boy deeper down stream.
"Offer still stands, I'd love to teach you, sunshine." Sage purrs, feeling your cheeks burn from where he was nuzzling into them. You hum at the offer, thinking for a second.
"If you don't mind, I think I'll take you up on that offer."
Sage grinned something sharp and malicious, redirecting you away from the others with a look over his shoulder.
"I'll bring 'em back when they've learned to swim. That may take all night however." He chuckled to himself, shaking his head at the glares directed at him.
Maybe one day they'd get to his level.
He doubted it though.
<><><><>
"That's it, sunshine, you're doing great."
"This is dumb-"
"No, you're doing so well. Just like that," His arms were spread beside him as he remained in front of you.
"Sage-"
"Shh, do you not trust me, my love?" Sage's smirk never left his face as he instead swept in closer. His one hand moved from treading water to brush up against your side. "Just like that."
Your blush deepened as he swayed his body effortlessly, laying underneath of you as he brought yours to lay over his.
"I've got you, don't you worry sunshine." His hand raised so his thumb pulled down you bottom lip. "Though, I do feel I've earned some sort of compensation. Maybe a little incentive to keep this lesson going?"
You swallowed.
"I mean...if only to continue the lessons I guess." You swallowed.
His smirk didn't ease your worries, but how could you think when all you could focus on was the blond's lips against yours?
You didn't even realized you were floating effortlessly.
Or the eyes watching your presumable private lesson, fuming in pure, red hot, anger.

Self-conscious captain
the next self aware link and this time it's the captain my favourite boy, warriors!
[masterlist]
Tumblr media
“Hey [Name], I’ve been going through some of my old games to clear things out. I found my copy of Hyrule Warriors and wanted to know if you’d like it?”
“I thought that was one of your favourites though, what’s come into you to give it away like this? Do you want anything for it, I’d feel bad simply taking from you.”
“Nah I got it as a gift anyway, I beat the game and did everything there is to do. Plus I know you’ve been wanting to play it anyway, so please have it.”
There’s something off about this, between how skitterish they’re acting and the fact they’re so willing - that they’re so desperate for me to take their favourite game from them? I’ve got nothing else to go off of though, and they are right I have been planning to buy it. They wouldn’t be offering if they didn’t want me to have it so what is there to lose?
“If you’re sure then. I can’t wait to play through it myself rather than watching you.”
Is there such a thing as too much relief? Because if there is then that was definitely it, with how their shoulders relaxed; all the tension left their body as they handed me the game. Why does this feel like the start of a creepypasta, am I simply gonna go home then suddenly there’s some new version of Ben drowned for me to deal with? I won’t know until I play I guess, but it might be fun.
There’s no better time than now to learn though, I’ve got the whole afternoon to myself anyway so why not? Putting the game into my switch; booting it all up it seems fine, so there’s nothing there that should have messed with them. It’s up until the first cutscene for anything to even show up that could be wrong. Link’s eyes seem to be focusing on me far more than they should during it, more than what should be possible, with more of a smile than he usually does during this too. Then I finally get to the level.
I can’t control Link, the game seems to be frozen, not a single bokoblin moving, Link is still moving, the camera isn’t even focused on him now and he’s moving closer to the screen.
“Honeybee? You’re here! I knew your friend would cave pretty face when I pressed them. It’s so nice to have you here alone with me!”
“...What.”
“Oh it’s all alright dear, I did think you’d be a little shocked at first because, well I mean I know this isn’t something that happens very often. Would you be against getting to know me better though?”
What. The. Hell. No wonder they were so eager to pawn the game off to me, a living character that seems to be obsessed with me? If the roles were switched then I’d be throwing it at them as quickly as I could, I’m amazed they could even keep calm for long enough to hand it to me without seeming any more suspicious than they did, he threatened them he’s already admitted that stop lying to yourself [name]. Why does he even want me over the person who actually played as him? None of this makes any sense.
“I - No I wouldn’t, actually could I ask you some questions too? Just y’know, try to get my head around all of this.”
“I’d be more concerned if you didn’t ask me any, I mean right now? You’re treating me more like an actual person than anyone else ever has.”
“...”
“Where would you like to start then honeybee? We can take this at your pace, you’re in full control here.”
Where should I start? There are so many different things I want answers to, I could stay here for hours just talking to him to find out everything; now that I think on that, it’s not like I have anything else planned today. I could simply just stay here for a bit and talk, it’s probably the safer option too. If I don’t, do I really want to test the sanity of a sentient game character, no.
“Um, if it’s all up to me then. Can I ask when you first became aware? Of the fact that you’re you know, a character in a game.”
“Oh, that? Well, it was about three months ago now, two or so weeks before you played with them. They really just saw me as a toy, not caring if I got hurt or anything, which is fair they never knew I was anything more than that; but you didn’t know either and you treated me like a person. You always apologised whenever I took any damage, never tried to get me hurt for your own pleasure or replace me as soon as you could. It was only a matter of time until I started to want you, then it was fairly easy to get eyes in your phone.”
“You've got ‘eyes in my phone?’ what do you mean by that.”
He looks so pleased right now like he wanted me to ask that exact question, it’s such a smug look on his face too. There’s something else to it as well, I can’t pinpoint what but there is certainly another look on his face. With how emotive he is it really doesn’t feel like this is some kind of sick joke, he’s too alive.
“That’s one of the things I’m most proud of!! It was pretty easy when you linked your phone to their switch to download a photo, I just made part of that connection a bit more personal and permanent. I promise I didn’t listen in on anything too private, I swear on Nintendo that I’m not like Cia. I promise.”
“Moving on from… that then. Why’s the real reason you wanted to be with me like this, I mean I get the feeling there’s more to it than you’re letting on.”
“You caught me I actually wa-”
The scowl that crossed his face when he was interrupted by the doorbell was unlike the cheery demeanour he’s been using, it’s almost like he’s angry or jealous of me having my attention split from him; it barely lasts a second though. Before his face swaps to one of remorse possibly because he got so irritated over something so trivial, that needs my focus more than he does right now.
“I think you already know, but I should go check that. I’ll only be a couple of minutes, it’s probably nothing after all.”
Not even a word, just a nod and a look of rejection as if he was a cat I’d had to move off of me when I turned to go and answer the door. True to my word it wasn’t something that going to take long, simply signing for a couple of parcels. It only took me a few minutes to collect it and then start heading back to my room, I’ll be able to open them while I talk to Link after all. Really it would be cruel to make him wait after everything else he’s been through, even if he’s been monitoring… most of my movements, is it bad that I still feel bad after knowing that?
A shrill yelp followed by a shattering sound right when I was about to go back in wasn’t the best sign, the worst thing is that this time there wasn’t a digital overlay. Did someone break in - or break out? Only one way to find out.
“Honeybee? I - I’m sorry I - I really was trying to keep it in one piece.”
He’s out of the game.
Link is in my room bawling his eyes out because he accidentally broke my LED screen, the hero of hyrule is standing in my bedroom crying his eyes out because he broke a piece of glass. Earlier there was always a feeling of him trying to come off as likeable to me, to the point where it was manipulative, he wouldn’t even consider the idea of me not liking him. Now it’s like he’s having a panic attack at the possibility that I won’t like him because he broke my monitor.
“I - I’ll do anything to make it up to you. Please - just - I - I didn’t mean to break it.”
“Link -”
“My clothes would probably be worth a fortune to someone right? I - I mean it’s an actual set of armour from the Hyrulian forces - it’s real chainmail. If you sell it - it’ll more than make up the cost, right? You won’t hate me if I did that, right?”
“Link. I don’t hate you, it was an accident and even if it wasn’t I would forgive you.”
That seemed to snap him out of it, if only a little; he’s still crying but now he’s not rambling about ways to make it up to me. He clearly seems to want me, even if I still don’t entirely get why so maybe I could; opening my arms proves the fact that he really does just want some affection. Waiting wasn’t even on the cards as he practically dove into my arms barely seconds after looking at me for permission.
“You really don’t hate me then? Really? Even though I’m not as good as the other games?”
“I don’t hate you for wanting to get out of what was essentially your prison or - you being as good as the other games? Your game is different but it’s just as good”
“But - you and your friend both said it. I - I’m not canon. You still treated me well that‘s why I fell for you, but I’m still - I’m still less than the other games. So I just, I really wanted to prove to you that I can be the only one for you [name]”
Stroking his hair seems to be calming him down now, the tears are slowing and his breathing is evening out the longer I stay here with him; only a few more moments until I should be able to get some answers from him. Adjusting to having a roommate might be a little strange, he really does seem nice though, nicer than anyone else I’ve ever met. Wait no I’ve only really just met him, why am I already thinking about that? It’s something to consider for certain - oh come on, just admit to yourself that you love this. He cares so why not see where it all goes?
“Canon just describes the story, it doesn’t change anything about you and I’m sorry if it’s ever seemed like that link. Come on, I'll clean the glass up, then you can finish explaining things okay?”
“No wait, it’s my fault, let me clean it up for you. If nothing else, please honey.”
“You don’t have to, it’s not a bother.”
So he already knows his teary puppy face can get me to agree to anything, he’s been here for less than a few hours and it already feels like we’re in a relationship as he knows me inside out… Which makes sense given that he has been watching me through my phone. Maybe it wouldn't be that bad if I stopped fighting against what he’s offering.  The gloves he’s wearing make picking up shards less painful than it would be otherwise, doesn’t take him that long either.
Long enough for something to flicker on my switch, but that can wait.

Alternate Hero/Guide Rant
So I've been thinking lately of parallel universes and the question "what if this was changed", yada yada, and I thought of something having to do with our guide.
What if, in an alternate era/timeline they took the place of Link?
Like the Chain still has their normal dynamics, same meeting, etc., but in swoops the reader (the heroine/false hero?) and they are unlike any link/hero in the timeline.
Some background for their Hyrule might be that their entire Hyrule is in ruins, like completely. Think Totk but 100 times more destroyed. Yeah. Essentially, their Link mysteriously disappeared, monarchy was left in utter chaos and the country essentially destroyed itself. I think your backstory would take place 5000-10,000 years after Wild's, so you would be the most latest "Link".
One of the main deviations between yourself and the Chain is that you didn't fight Ganon/Ganondorf/Demise; you fought Hylia in the flesh.
In terms of triforce? You don't have any pieces because your Link gained them all and left shortly after that. Conspiracies say it had a more sinister motive, but you have a different idea of what happened.
Zelda was killed around the same time Link disappeared, essentially destroying whatever foundation of Hyrule was left. The different nations of Hyrule had a 50-year war and eventually, everything was so destroyed that everyone went into isolation, closing off from each other.
A religiously-motivated eruption of chaos occurs, spurring your quest to eliminate Hylia and her existence. Despite not having any relation to the royal family, Link, or Hylia's prophecy, you have the memories of each hero, which is unheard of with the Chain. Only Zelda's have previous memories, meaning you're some weird anomaly.
A bunch of shit happens, whatever, boom you're in Wild's Hyrule. THe Chain notices you almost instantly, mostly cuz you're wearing hero's garb, but none of theirs, meaning... you're a Link. Or so they originally thought.
That's all for now.
Let me know if y'all would like to see a full fleshed-out fic of this! :3

Imagine the reader being Yan! Poly Chains deity. You were only a demi-god(dess), the child of the golden goddess Farore. You were hid away within space and time in a temple of your own so that no evil would touch the offspring of one of the golden three. Only—Ganondorf's forces invaded a place hidden by all, and you were forced to flee. You ended up finding The Chain, and they were all absolutely enamored.
Sky surely isn't that obsessed. He only pledges his undying loyalty to you. He has already killed a god once. He will kill another if it will keep you safe. He'd kill the golden goddesses if they tried to take you from the safety of his arms.
Time isn't absolutely possessive of you or anything. He just doesn't want you to leave them. Ever. If your mother or her sisters wanted you somewhere else, then wouldn't they have led you somewhere else? They are all the heroes chosen by the goddesses! That is practically a seal of approval on their part. You are basically already married to him. He already controls everything you do and everyone you talk to. Oh? A ring on your finger. It's just something for protection. It's a mortal custom from his world. You wouldn't dare refuse it, would you?
Legend isn't enamored by your very presence. No, not at all. Can't you see how snarky and rude he acts around you? He always pushes you away and doesn't allow you to touch anything. He's the Link who is most likely to lead you to Hyrule first if even so much as a scratch shows up on you. It's not like Hyrule and Legend have teamed up against the other Links to win your hand. No, not at all. He just wants to pawn you off on someone else. He's got more important things to do. Like enchanting more things to give to you so he can show the others that you are claimed by him.
Hyrule is just curious about you. It's not like he spends every waking moment watching over your figure and fantasizing about you. It's not like he makes sure that you are always healed first. It's not like he reluctantly teamed up with Legend or anything. You find him bathing in the same river as you. Coincidence. Sorry. He just couldn't stay away for too long.
Twilight isn't your personal guard dog at all. He just likes being near you. That isn't a crime! Perhaps he manipulates you a little into always letting him cuddle up to you as Wolfie. Perhaps he is always willing to glare at every other member of The Chain so they stay away from you. He's just a touchy guy, okay? He always has his hands on you. He's always carrying you. It's just a quirk of his. It totally isn't a deeply ingrained obsession he has about you being his mate. The only one he'll back down to is Time, reluctantly.
The Colors just like you—Four does as well. He isn't going to do the 'he totally doesn't like you thing'. His strategy is to be honest with you. He isn't manipulating you! He's just showing you how much better he is than anybody else in The Chain. He splits constantly just because the others are so eager to see you and be with you. He just wants to make you armor and weapons and always keep you in his arms. Is that too much to ask?
Wind just wants you to take him seriously. He's surprised when you do. You're a fan of him? You watched his journey? Wait, you have the ability to do that with your super cool and awesome powers!? Is aged up here and most definitely kind of dorky when it comes to you. He's the most relaxed and socially inept when it comes to the others. Most of his gaslighting, manipulation, and other yandere tendencies are subconscious. He doesn't even realize he is doing anything wrong until one of the others confronts him. It isn't like they are any better about it.
Wars doesn't just flirt with anyone, only with you. He always hopes that The Chain won't end up starting an inter-dimensional war over you. He understands what it's like to have someone madly in love with you that you don't have feelings for. He's the most self-aware of The Chain, hands down. He takes a more traditionally romantic approach. While he may be hesitant to manipulate you because he wants your feelings to be genuine, he has no problem manipulating the other Links. He has no problem with threatening to not help them during battle just so he can get some more time with you.
Wild is the most self-sacrificing. He is also the most self-depreciating. If you have read my headcanons yk yk. He is almost entirely non-verbal. He's only spoken once since you met him. He takes the 'actions speak louder than words' approach. He is willing to fall at your feet and make you depend on his attention. That's one of his dreams, making you just as obsessed with him as he is with you. Another is teaching you Hylian sign.
Bonus: Ravio, Cal, & Sage
Ravio is the most intrigued and illusive. All of the Links can agree that they will try to scare him away from you. That's why he'll randomly pop in and out of your daily life. The two seconds of peace you get a day are interrupted by him. You are prone to being overstimulated since you went from zero contact to an entire group of yanderes. Ravio offers you relaxation, and he even speaks in a quiet voice with you. He gifts you relaxation and sleeping potions. He gives you a bunch of jewels and things he has found. He sees you as a treasure that needs to be protected by him. You are priceless, truly one of kind. Is it so bad that he wants you for himself?
Cal is completely non-verbal. You haven't ever heard him speak. He sees Twilight, Wild, and Sage as his main competitors. Twilight, because he is also your silent protector. Cal is always near you in a protective manner, and he is unable to verbalize his feelings for you. It always allows Twilight to sweep you up off of your feet. Both Wild and Sage are more experienced versions of him. Wild clings to your attention, and at least he was spoken once. Sage is verbal and is able to loudly berate Cal without anyone stepping in. Cal just takes it. It's what he's been taught. At least one good thing comes of this—you, sweet heavenly you. He may be your physical protector, but you are his spiritual protector. You always make sure the others stay off him. Wild is always extremely jealous of this and acts like a wounded animal to get your attention back on him.
Sage is the most apprehensive and combative toward you. The goddesses failed him. Why should he fall madly in love with you like the others? It isn't like he is secretly yearning for you or something. Whatever. He is always willing to try and 'put you in your place'. Yet, you always understand him. You are always there to heal his wounds and give him a shoulder to cry on. You become the one deity that he can believe in. He's willing to maybe absolutely and unabashedly be head over heels in love with you. You like his arm? It's now his favorite part of his body. The rest of The Chain is already plotting how to remove his arm, so you will no longer praise it. Four's hands are already itching towards his tools, and The Colors are screaming to murder him at the top of their lungs.

Yandere Sky Headcanons
Tumblr media
Sky is, without a doubt, a hopeless romantic when he’s in love. We’ve seen him swoon and sigh dreamily when thinking about his loved one, he’s THAT kind of lover boy. Naturally, when adding a layer of insanity tinged love sickness to that adoration, he’s prone to becoming very affectionate.
Unless you are as dense as a rock, it will be no secret that the Hero of the Skies is head over heels in love with you. He basically has heart shaped pupils whenever he looks at you, cartoon heart bubbles magically appear around his head when in your vicinity and his face turns so red you’d think he had a high fever.
Sky is a devout yandere, obsessive in every way, shape and form, and protective to a fault. Even when not around you, you occupy his thoughts and daydreams to the point where it seems like he’s never not thinking about you.
He’s got a masters degree in yearning from Pining University.
And while he hasn’t lost that many people like some of the other mentally unstable chosen ones in the Chain(namely Wild and Legend), the fear of losing them is very real to him. He’s known the blood chilling terror of being a few steps too slow and a few minutes too late with the only thought in his head being “what did I do wrong?”
Following the conclusion of his first and only journey, Sky has come to accept that he made his mistakes and that he must move on in order to grow, but that doesn’t stop him from taking those lessons to heart when falling in love with you.
We’ve seen multiple times throughout the various installments that one of Sky’s favorite hobbies is playing his lyre. It’s a simple pleasure he indulges in whenever they have a moment of peace and the sound never fails to remind him of his home. But he’s found another reason to love it and that is the attention you end up giving him whenever he plays a song.
He isn’t the best musician in the group, but there’s no denying that the simple melodies he strings together are pleasing to the ears, so it’s no wonder you’d take the time to sit down, listen, and compliment him.
Sky doesn’t see it like that, though.
In his deluded, love hazy mind, all that registers is that you’re there giving him your attention and your praise; two things worth more than gold in his eyes. He’s like a drug addict who just got hit with another dosage. If he had a tail he’d be wagging it so hard it would thump against the log he’s sitting on, so he better consider himself lucky that Twilight is the dog of the group.
Though, if would please you, he’d willingly let you collar and leash him. Tell him to sit and roll over, he’ll do it on command without any shame whatsoever. He’ll even walk around on all fours if you want!-
Anyways-
THIS! 👏 MF! 👏 STEALS! 👏 FROM! 👏 YOU! 👏
I mean, technically it isn’t for long, he won’t permanently take something that belongs to you without ever giving it back(in secret so you never find out it was him), but he WILL swipe something of yours from time to time. Most commonly he’ll take a tunic or shirt from you, something you won’t immediately notice is gone.
When he has a moment of privacy, he’ll take out his little treasure and press it against his face, taking in a deeeeeep breath, and sighing lovingly. He’s got it bad for you and he knows it. If he could he’d use your tunic as a pillowcase whenever he went to sleep, but there’s no way he wouldn’t get caught.
Despite all this sugary sweetness, Sky isn’t solely a soft and gentle boy. If he is provoked, or if you’re being bothered, Sky doesn’t hesitate to step up and glare down the nuisance, all the while keeping a calm smile stretched across his face. This is where his surprisingly deep voice comes in handy, people aren’t expecting a voice like his to come from such a soft face.
Out of all the members of the Chain, I actually think that Sky would be one of the most patient when it comes to people trying to mess with them or you respectively; he’s dealt with Groose’s bullying for a few years, I think he’s a natural at letting nasty comment slide right off him like water off a duck’s back.
However, even then his patience is dangerously thin regarding people. If provoked he won’t hesitate to begin plotting the fool’s demise, whether it be a swift cut to the jugular or a slow, agonizing demise is up to the person in question.
And finally, just a hint, do not try to run from him, it won’t work.
If Fi’s ability to dowse objects and seek them out is based on Sky’s own desire to find them, then if you were to try and run away, he’d be able to track you right down to the exact spot you’re standing in. Because there is nothing and no one alive that Sky wants and needs more than you.
Hide in the woods, in a cave, in a dungeon, in a mountain, it doesn’t matter. He will hunt you down, find you, and drag you back home in his loving, suffocating embrace.

Heyo! May I request platonic yandere chain with reader? But instead of isekai like normal the reader is actually a destructive spirit or deity that was reawakened by either Dark Link or Ganon? Anywhoooo I hope you’re having a great week- mine was filled with exams lmfaooooo
Thanks for requesting anon! I really hope you had good results from those exams!
Notes: My week was okay, thank you for asking!!
I really let out my imagination out on this one, hope you'll like it.
BTW, take this as a part on the back for getting through your week.
I feel like I made the yandereness on this one so light, I'm sorry
-> Reader can't bring themselves to remember anyone's names so just remembers their most striking characteristics in their opinion.
-> It's been a while since I've read the comic, so Time keeping FD's mask on his belt for safety measures (since it's the most dangerous one and he can't lose it) is merely a headcanon of mine.
-> Reader is a menace who has questionable intellect (AKA a chaotic, pyromaniac, destructive entity being forced to be nice to others by the good guys™).
-> I left the end ambiguous, so you guys can decide if reader was either truly tamed or is still a menace who Time has to keep on check so they won't be too cruel on their "pranks".
-> Reader also magically rearranged Time's ocarina so each hole would play different a different sound at some point, so he literally had to re-learn where each note was so that he could go back to playing his songs again.
-> Reader slept for more than Time and Wild both and doesn't know a thing about the Zelda lore other than the Golden goddesses.
TWs: Light platonic yanderism, mention of burns, mentions of fire and arson, mentions of loud noises, basically just reader being an absolute hazard to anyone and everyone.
Platonic yandere! Chain x Reader
Debt to pay.
Tumblr media
People from your time used to say that one could sooner move a mountain from it's resting place rather than tame your natural ways.
You wouldn't say you were a deity, per say, you thrived on chaos and setbacks, a living annoyance to the poor living things that breathed the same air as you, and roamed the earth by the same time you did.
It was in your nature to be destructive, yes, but you never wanted destruction, at least not full extinction. The darkness and the light were both two sides of the same rupee, they were one just like the other, beings of both sides would react the exact identical way to having their butts lit on fire. So, of course, you weren't one to pick and choose who you'd go after each day.
Thing is, most people didn't understand that —if anyone at all— so everyone just assumed you were a being of pure darkness, even if you actually saw yourself as more of a dark gray entity from a moral chart perspective.
And that was how you got yourself “killed”, if that's even the right thing to call it.
Somehow, no one seemed to care much when you lit whole villages on fire and made all of the walls of full-on castles start dissing out pure electricity, but they almost dislocated their jaws the moment you decided to do a silly trick and turn all of their lovely goddesses statues upside down for a day.
As if those same goddesses hadn't just ignored all of their prayers in the last hundreds of years you spent freely making their lives miserable.
You were stored in a vase. Not even a cool cool one. A plain clay vase deep within a temple under the ground. If you could choose, you'd have preferred something more majestic and up to the level of your power, but then again, it wasn't like you were in place to say anything in your defense.
Sometimes you just wondered how your small group of worshipers were. They probably weren't the best people out there, if you could say so yourself, but you were still curious if they ended up having similar fates to yours.
A long, long time later, you were "revived", for the same reason you were "killed".
Not the best choice on the part of whoever went through the trouble of doing all that, but who were you to judge? Or even to complain?
From what you could get from the boring evil monologue the guy in front of you was giving after having just woken you up from the longest nap you've ever had —since you couldn't really die— the guy wanted you to aid him in his quest to kill some other guys and take over the world or some boring nefarious plan like that.
You couldn't recall any of the names he just said, though, so you could only guess that you had either slept for a pretty damn long time, or you were in an entirely different world on itself.
Before you could fully decide on one of the two possibilities, the red guy sent you to fight against that group of guys he was talking about, seven men with varying shades of blonde hair along with two guys who weren't blond at all.
Perhaps you could have admired the strength of the red guy's magic, to just bring you out of your sleep like that and already straight up teleport you.
Thing is, you didn't really care enough to do that, you just did whatever you wanted the moment you realized you were fully conscious and in a physical body once again.
Were you chaotic and very much possibly evil? Yes. Were you stupid, however? Kinda No.
So the moment the opportunity presented itself, you followed those guys around, gathering information. Taking notice also of that one shadow looking dude, who was following them around just like you, seemingly with the intention of making their lives hell.
Maybe he'd be an interesting being to interact with, if he wasn't as prickly as a damn cactus. You swore you couldn't even approach the guy without him reacting like a startled cat, pointing his flimsy sword straight to your face. You swore to yourself you'd break that thing in half one of these days.
And so you set your sights fully on the blond —and the not so blond— guys, taking your time to also play around with the villages they went to and toy with the monster camps they passed by.
Of course, you couldn't just ignore the massively ominous aura drifting from the masks that one of the taller blondies carried around. Your hands itched to get a grasp on those things, whatever was sealed inside it was magical and possibly powerful, and the possibilities sent your mind on quite a dangerous frenzy.
The thing that made you a bit disappointed, however, was how long it took for them to notice your presence.
At some point you decided to start giving them some more obvious hints that what was following them wasn't friendly.
They seemed to really like bomb bags, which wasn't exactly safe for them when you could randomly activate those at will.
Also, you couldn't control the rain or storms, of course, but you definitely could attract lightning, especially since they all seemed to enjoy carrying around those identical metal swords.
Sometimes you just liked to pull on their hair and make knots on them, given that some had really long hair.
The wolf guy had a horse, one you could just startle really easily. Although you didn't have the result you wanted, since the wolf guy wasn't sent flying the moment his horse went crazy.
You caught him later, though. Making loud, high pitched noises to absolutely blow away his senses the moment he turned into a wolf to try and chase you down.
The fire that the short guy was using to mend a weapon randomly became overly strong, enough to have burned his whole arm, if he hadn't pulled away quick enough.
The scarf of the other one just one day became a bit too hard around his neck. It's a good thing for him that he was quick enough to pull it off his neck before he suffocated.
You watched as the one with pink hair almost had a breakdown, as all his colorful, shiny little trinkets and accessories having become dulled, turning completely pitch black, no traces of their original colors or magic left.
The kid tried to control the wind, only to have it blown straight back to his face, bringing leaves and sand with it.
You made sure their cook accidentally poured a bit too much pepper in their food, or salt, even sugar, if you felt like it.
The brown haired one suddenly lost control of his magic, what was supposed to heal their wounds ended up dyeing their hair blue for days on end.
That other guy who always overslept felt his pillow being pulled from under his head at random times through his nights.
And the tall guy's masks have all suddenly decided to disappear.
“Okay. Something is going on here. And it's not something natural.” Time sighed, looking around the camp, tired and worried, concerned.
Wild’s hair was an absolute mess and seemed to have caught on fire at some point, Warriors was glaring at his scarf, keeping it as far from his —almost purple— neck as possible. Wind had his hair almost as messy as Wild's, full of leaves and dirt, he was pretty sure there were also some bugs around it, his cheek had a thin cut from a sharp little rock.
Twilight was occupied comforting Epona, although the both of them seemed quite shaken up by something.
Four had some burns around the tips of his fingers, his hair usual blond hair now stained with blue, Hyrule sitting beside him with a frown, bandaging his hands rather than using his healing magic like he normally would.
Sky wasn't far from the two, almost dozing off despite the migraine that had settled behinds his eyes, which were now dotted with heavy bags from sleepless nights. Legend's terrible mood did not seem to disturb his need for a nap.
“Oh, really?” Legend almost growled back, positively fuming with barely contained rage gleaming in his eyes.
“Vet, I am not your enemy here, but once we find out who is doing this, you can direct your anger towards whoever they are.” Time shot a look to the other.
“That is, if it's even a person doing this. It might be some kind of monster.” Warriors commented.
“One thing we're sure of is that there's magic involved in this.” Hyrule spoke up, finished with the bandaging.
“I don't even know why you're so mad, Leg, you were possibly the least affected by this.” Four complained, eyebrows furrowed with stress. Even as a blacksmith, he was never a fan of getting burned, especially not being caught off guard like that!
“Agreed.” Wild was the next to speak, not bothering to brush the soot out of his hair. It wasn't quite the first time he almost been exploded, after all, even though the experience didn't get any better no matter how many times he went through it.
“You're really saying that, even though the kid only got a burst of wind to the face.”
“Ay! Mind your own business, Legend!” Wind sprung up in defense of himself, already looking to be tense prior to the attack, as the two began arguing.
While the group was in quite the mess, you took your chances to go ahead and approach stealthily to attempt to take the mask you were so curious about. Said mask being the last one you hadn't stolen borrowed yet, since the tall guy seemed to have noticed his other masks disappearances and decided to take extra means of protection towards that one.
In your opinion, your risks were all carefully thought out and calculated, however, you seemed to have completely forgotten about a certain wolf guy at the edge of the camp, standing beside his horse and looking straight at you.
You managed to grab the mask from the taller guy's belt! But at what price..?
Before you could even manage to turn around and run away with it, a hand shot out, hooking on the back of the collar of your shirt, pushing you to the ground in a second. And in another second, there was a blade shoved right in front of your face.
Goddammit.
You barely paid any attention to all the yelling, too occupied hugging your newly acquired possession tightly to your chest.
“Hand me that mask. Now.” A voice right behind you demanded, yet you still didn't move.
“No.”
The sword in front of you seemed to inch just slightly closer to your neck.
“At least tell me what it is, first!” You asked, a bit more squirmy, not at all comfortable with the vulnerability you had right now, since it seemed like that long sleep left you with a bit less power than you used to have, clearly a precaution, should you ever gain you body back. It was smart from your captors, but very much annoying for you.
“None of your business, now give me back my mask!” The tall guy —now in front of you— stressed. You could tell that his restlessness was hinting towards just how near he was to the end of his wits.
“If this piece of porcelain is as powerful as it seems, then yes, yes it is my business!”
It wasn't, not really, but you were too curious to just give up on information just like that.
The tall guy went quiet for a second before he finally replied, going with a question instead of actually giving you an answer like you were expecting from him.
“How do you know how powerful it is?”
“None of your business.” You threw his own words back at him and now the dull side of the sword was suddenly pressing up pretty uncomfortably against your skin, burning you. “Okay, fine, I'll tell you.”
And that was how you met the Links, and also how you became chained to them, unable to leave. After all, you did have to pay them back for all that you did to every single one of them.
But, for some reason, that simple dept seemed to only to get bigger the longer you spent time with them, despite the fact you weren't doing anything entirely wrong…
At least, that was the excuse they gave to you, yet something in you made you feel like that wasn't the full truth.

Sky and Four
part 1
part 2
part 3
Credits to the lovely @mushroomwoods and their Sky content, Inspired a lot of how I imagine him
Tw: Yandarism and it’s accessories, obsessiveness, violence, descriptions of murder
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
Sky
He was cautiously nice when you first met. He definitely understood that being cold to you wouldn’t get them anywhere, especially since you were in the same situation as them and terrified. But even he admits that he was scared you were a trick.
Afterall, how could someone so sweet and simply lovely be left to them? Someone so willing to help despite them themselves being helpless.
It took him longer to pick up that you were his guide. And even after he remembers, it’s still a little fuzzy. Unlike Wild, who’s memory is already faulty and loosing what he has of you possibly by Hylia’s influence, Hylia made Sky forget you. You were his guiding light through the darkness, and the sun eclipsed your glow, leaving him blinded.
And yet in spite of this, he does everything possible to make sure there will not a repeat. He’s already killed a god, what’s one more?
Yeah, He jumps straight to murder.
Not that you know.
Love languages in terms of giving, Physical touch and Words of Affirmation, anything to let you know that he’s there. And he’s not going to leave you again. Not if he can help it, not if there’s any ritual or magic or spell or anything in the multiverse that can keep you bound to his side.
Now, with that said, his new deity could do much as look at some jewellery and he’s emptying his wallet. Or shyly ask for his help with whatever your struggles are and he’s already forgotten what he was assigned to do. Anything for his light.
As for receiving? Anything. He’ll take absolutely anything you have to offer and will not ask for more. He’d bask in whatever words, time, gifts or otherwise you have to offer and would fool himself into believing that that is his exclusively.
He’s the most two faced in the chain, along with Wars. Wars however is willing to let the mask slip if it makes you behave. Sky on the other hand, is not. He’s layed down lives. This is not an if. The others may be cautious, but with his absolutely violent abandonment issues, he’s hid more bodies than people on skyloft.
And on that abandonment issues? He’s so playing that card. He will guilt trip the life out of you you. The others are willing to let you get hurt, to let you learn you’re safest with them. Sky however, wouldn’t even dare. Sure, Wild’s abandonment issues are just as bad, but he’s had time to simmer off. This is a fresh, bleeding wound that only you could heal.
Aside from that level of toxicity, you’re sleeping well. Literally. Naptimes, Cuddles, Not taking watch, Comfort from nightmares, you aren’t missing anything in the ways of comfort. And that’s not even counting the rest of your cult.
So he wouldn’t kidnap you, but you are going to deal with him begging at your feet to not leave him. He’s already so alone. No one knows- no one cares aside from you. Please don’t leave again.
And even if you do leave, don’t be shocked if he shows up in your house one day. He’ll find his way back to you. He’ll follow your light. Like he always has.
Nicknames for you: My love/Beloved, My light, My god/goddess, Dearest, Dove, My Star
Bonus: Another member of the Chain you are unknowingly married to. (credits to @majesties-palace and @skyloftian-nutcase i believe) You have one of Crimson’s feathers, the Skyloftian equivalent to an engagement ring. Better yet, you’d wear it all the time too, not knowing the grave you’re digging.
Four
Recognised you the soonest. Stared at you for a good four minutes before realising who you were.
And that’s how you found yourself traveling with the chain, him being the one to advocate for you to stay.
It did take him a while to fall in love, however. He realised you quickly, but that doesn’t mean he realised his feelings. Even if he did have a physical manifestation of them.
It wouldn’t be until someone was teasing him about his previous actions that stuff began to click together. Leaving gifts in your bag- money, jewellery that he made, letters one from each color (each with their own handwriting), as well as various other goods that he’d even considered that his feelings weren’t platonic.
But boy oh boy do they spiral from there! To cut his own mental breakdown short, he falls for your shortly after… but the colours take it farther. A lot farther. Every aspect of him, personified or not, wanted to love and own every part of you
His preferred love languages I see being Quality time and Gift giving. The former being literally anything- hour long chats, long walks, you sitting in the forge as he fills out orders, anything where you’re away from the others and with him. The ladder being gifts- But especially the ones he makes for you. Ones endowed with magic so he’ll find his way back to you. Ones made of Iron, so Hyrule will keep his hands off you. One ring from each colour. Each so finely detailed you’d never consider letting damage befall them.
As for love language receiving, Quality time and oddly enough, Physical touch. Quality time for the reason he likes sharing it with you. He likes having you to himself- especially on the days he feels more like four people sharing a body rather than One person as a whole. Physical touch, however, was one he didn’t expect from himself. But the first time you hugged him, most likely after the first elaborate gift he gave you, his brain associated it automatically as the highest form of praise for his work. To him, If he hopes to be substantial, your touch is the reward he strives for.
Two faced as Sky, but in a different way. He’s responsible face to face, friendly to you and reliable as a teammate. Sure, A little stubborn and a force to be reckoned with if you find yourself his enemy, but a good person all around. But the second you’re safe and out of earshot? Feral. He’s the easiest to tip off anger wise, along with Sky and Legend. The three of them would take turns on who scouts the victim, who bleeds them dry and who rids of the carcass.
You unraveled this man. Yes, i’m the way he’s at your every whim and also in the way his mind finds its way back to you constantly and in the way he devotes himself to protecting you so fiercely and in the way he’d sacrifice anything to just know you a little more. But also in the way he was so stable, or as close to as a Link could really get. But seeing you, in person, so scared and vulnerable? He was bound to spiral.
He’d try to kidnap you. We can debate on how well that would go. Not saying he’d be unsuccessful. He made the chains, the minish would let him know if his spouse ran off, not to mention he’s in the house nearly all the time with forging and what not, you’re not leaving. But… you can be bargain your way to freedom. Guilt tripping is probably the most efficient unless you’d like to spent hours arguing with Vio (he’d see it as a challenge and thus an endearing battle of wit and wouldn’t take you seriously)
Preferred nicknames: Dearest, Dear, Love, Honey, Babe, My heart if he’s feeling especially guilty and/or sentimental

First chapter of my series, I think, from Linked universe x reader
But first of all, I'll list a few things here
All Linked Universe characters are romantic partners
But one thing before reading the story!
Here you will be a girl, want to make this gender change fit into the story, as well as:
You are a heroine of your hyrule (I'll leave the stories to you) but you don't have the spirit of courage!
Your link is a prince! So he has two sides, being the son of Zelda, the triforce of courage and wisdom .
You will be a closed person at the beginning, because you are not intimate with the current, then only later will you show yourself
That's why, and my English isn't perfect! So, good luck

"I see it now... looking like death itself, that's what I see... it's not a gaze I saw in ancient heroes, no!... This is a look of pure rage, no, it's not that!... it's as if she simply has not a shred of mercy or kindness in her face, this gaze isn't of a brave hero as it has been in many years and reincarnations, no!... This gaze is that of a killer..."
The kingdom of Hyrule was thriving, having recovered from all the chaos it endured. Villages and markets were bustling once again, and all the realms lived happily, reminiscent of their best times. Queen Zelda was currently preparing to pass her throne to her heir, her son. It would take a while since she planned to hand over the crown , when he is ready—And when that day comes, you really don't want to miss it, not after everything you've seen, and what you've been through.
Unfortunately, you don't know how you can return. As you look around, you see those who call themselves heroes engrossed in their tasks. You move about, not quite remembering how you ended up there, surrounded by a bunch of blonde boys from different timelines. Despite being accustomed to being in a place full of men and even training with them, it feels like you don't belong to that group.
Everyone there is a hero, with stories, swords, and the soul of a hero—brave, something you're not. Sure, you saved your Hyrule, but that was because you were the last one standing in that shattered land. You had to do something; the land was in peril, your friend was in danger, and you couldn't let him go with it, not after you promised. You're just a mere key, lacking the soul of heroism, without a side of the Triforce like everyone else, not even a tattoo on the back of your hand.
"Hey! (Name), right?" Turning your head, leaning against a tree, you look to the side and see a boy of shorter stature compared to you, dressed in blue and carrying a compass or something similar.
"...yes?" Your voice sounds somewhat flat and even a bit cold, but you can't help it, not when you've been with them for less than a day.
"Well, Wild wants me to grab some things. Would you like to help?" He seems nervous, you can tell by his way of speaking and posture. Stepping away from the trunk, you simply nod your head, following the boy as he enters the forest.
Wind occasionally glanced at you, walking a bit slower as he began to walk beside you. He couldn't help but notice the two covered sword sheaths on your back, but he refrained from asking, aware it might be intrusive.
"Ah... what was your Hyrule like?" The boy attempted to start a conversation, nervous and unable to discern whether you were angry or something else. With a closed appearance, your expression remained unreadable, and he couldn't quite gauge your feelings, likely because you hadn't fully acclimated to them.
"Normal..." You speak in a voice that's somewhat normal, though low, not quite a whisper. Wind frowned, and you maintain your gaze forward. Clearly, you were a Hyrulian, given your pointed ears, but Wind couldn't quite determine if you hailed from a different Hyrule. Simultaneously, your clothing was and wasn't that of a hero; he couldn't quite figure out what you were.
"Ah... I see." Wind then averted his gaze, noticing a bush of fruits. He motioned for you to follow as he approached the bush.
"These fruits look edible, don't they?" He asked while picking one up and examining it. Unbeknownst to him, you also grabbed one, sniffing it. Detecting no strange odor, just a sweet scent like edible fruits, you opened your mouth and took a bite.
"Maybe someone knows what fruit this is. I think we should check other things before—" Wind glanced to the side, watching you grab a cloth bag and fill it with fruits. "Carry...? Don't you think it might be poisonous?" He said while observing you take one and eat it. You shook your head in denial, handing one to the boy, who looked somewhat scared and suspicious.
"They're not poisonous. The leaves are like any other, they smell sweet, and despite their appearance, they're sweet." You spoke while looking at the fruits and collecting them. Glancing back at Wind, who had a bead of sweat on his face, even though his expression was somewhat stoic, you saw that you were looking at him, expecting something. Not knowing what to do, Wind sighed before cautiously biting into the fruit and realizing they were indeed sweet.
Rising, you took the two cloth bags filled with fruit and placed them in the side bag you carried. Wind observed as you looked up.
"Did Wild ask for something specific?" You looked at Wind, awaiting a response."Ah... no! He just asked me to see if I could find something, maybe mushrooms!" He nervously explained, eliciting a noise of understanding from you. You walked ahead, and the boy hurried to catch up. He watched as you, a bit further ahead, handed a fruit to a white rabbit. Upon spotting Wind, the rabbit darted away with the fruit. He observed as you stood up from your crouched position and continued walking.
"B-well! How are you feeling?" Trying to initiate another conversation, he was met with a buzz.
"Normal..." He only realized he had returned to the camp when he heard the others talking. He paused, still confused about the entire situation, and walked over to Wild along with you. You handed over the bag filled with fruits, mushrooms, and plants, along with a large water container.
"When did she get this that I didn't see?" Wild didn't even have time to react and say thank you before you left and returned to your place leaning against a tree, gazing into the forest, never at the others. Wild looked at Wind, who just shrugged and sat down with him.
"Anything?" Wild asked as he opened the bag, examining its contents and grabbing a fruit. "Nothing, b-but she said these fruits are good!"
"Of course they're good!" Wild said as if it were obvious, starting to cut the mushrooms he had. From a distance, Time observed as the girl gazed into the forest, appearing thoughtful. Sky looked at Time, beside him, and also observed the girl.
"What do you think they have?" Sky asked, looking at Time, who had a stern look, sighing as he cleaned his sword.
"I think they're just not at ease. They've just left their home; let her get used to it gradually." With that, they both put the matter aside. Fiddling with your belt, where the two covered sword sheaths were, you felt a twinkle and sensed the small gift you carried.
"It's okay..."

Forced Found Family
Back with another yandere LU fic. Platonic yandere this time around. I promise that not all of my fics will be yandere in theme, but I'm just on a bit of a yandere kick at the moment. My creativity is a cruel mistress. Please enjoy!
TW: Yandere themes, blood, descriptions of gore, angst, throw-up, descriptions of a dead body, reader gets traumatized
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Running, running, running. All you could do is run. Your hiding spot had been compromised and now your pursuer was hot on your heels. You weaved between wild bushes and thick stumps in an attempt to keep distance between you and him. Despite your best efforts, his laughter was always close- too close. You could feel the air woosh behind your back as he tried to grab you but was always just shy of hitting his mark. You just had to run for a little bit longer…
There! You could see it! A town! A town with people and shelter and guards! You just had to push your self just a bit further and you’d make it! You’d-
Large hands grabbed onto your body and hoisted you up into the air right before you broke through the treeline. You hollered and kicked and banged your fists against the hands but they didn’t relent. They pulled you into a tight embrace that was far too strong for you to break out of. Your captor laughed and chuckled as you squirmed.
“I got you~!”
“NO! NEVER!” You screeched, trying to be as loud as possible. No matter what stunt or trick you pulled, you weren’t escaping and there was no one coming to help you. Bitter was the taste of defeat on your tongue as you finally went limp in the arms of your opponent.
“Face it, (Name), you’re going no where. You’re the loser of this chase, and you know what happens to losers?”
“N-no… please don’t…”
“Sorry, but you’re not in the position to plead with me… which means…”
“Tickle attack!”
Your sides were barraged by Wild’s hands and you couldn’t stop the squealing laughter that spilled from your lips. You kicked against his chest and pounded your little fists against his own, but your older brother wasn’t phased at all. It didn’t take long for you to be wheezing and gulping for breath. Only then did Wild pull back and give you your space.
“You did good, (Name). Dodging and weaving like that through the trees will make it hard for large monsters to easily chase you in a wooden area. Had you managed to break through the trees, I’m sure that the nearest guard in town would have heard you and come to rescue you,” Wild praised.
“Yeah, but… you still caught me in the end,” You huffed and crossed your arms. “You always catch me in the end.”
“Because I’m good at chasing down rotten little gremlins like you,” Wild chuckles as he pulls at your cheeks. You slap at him again and he pulls away with a snort. “Though, you are definitely one of the faster ones. I think you could out run nearly everyone else.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Even Twilight?”
“Uh, well… maybe not him. Even I can’t out run him.”
“What about the Old Man?”
“(Name), he’s old- of course you could.”
“Uhm… Sky?”
“Do you even have to ask that?”
“Yeah!”
“Well, yes, you could most certainly out run-”
“(NAME)!”
The shout pierces the serenity of the forest as Sky stumbles through the thicket towards you and Wild. He’s red in the face and sounds like a broken dog toy, but it doesn’t stop him from pushing forward. He crumples before you and is suddenly inspecting you all over as if you were a piece of porcelain ready to shatter.
“Are you okay? Are you out of breath? You didn’t hurt yourself while running, did you? Any boo-boos?” Sky frets as he examines every inch of your person. He lets out a strangled whine as he spots as cut across your hand. The area is a bit sore to the touch but you find his overreactions to be funny and instead laugh at the man. He doesn’t find it nearly as humorous.
“Sky, it’s just a scratch. Put a dab of medicine on it, slap on a bandage, and call it a day,” Wild huffs at Sky’s mother hen attitude. The Skyloftian shoots Wild a dirty glare as he picks you up and holds you against his shoulder.
“And? What if it’s already infected by them running through the forest and touching who knows what? What if they nicked themselves on some strange thorn that’s potentially toxic?! Forgive me for not being careless about their health, Wild,” Sky argues as he marches away from the cook. Wild rolls his eyes at the antics but doesn’t take the scoldings to heart.
“Sky, they’re eight. I may not have as much experience with kids as Twilight has, but I’ve seen the situations kids have walked away from without even flinching. Hell, (Name) could fall out of a tree and brush it off while one of us would end up with a broken arm,” Wild remarks as he catches up to the both of you. You stick out your tongue and pull down your lower eye lids at him. Wild returns it by sticking out his tongue and pushing up his nose with his thumb.
“Firstly, language. Second, I’m not taking any risks no matter what you say. The mission we’re on is not one for children whatsoever, so I’m going to do my best to ensure that they’re in top health. If you’re so certain that (Name) doesn’t need to be cared for to such a degree, why don’t you share your opinion with, say, Hyrule? Twilight, even? Oh, and we can’t forget about Time. I’m sure he’d love to hear what you have to say about our youngest member!” Sky stresses. Wild cringes at the names before backing off a little.
“Okay, okay- I get it. No need to have the Old Man and Twi hounding me,” Wild snorts as he looks away from Sky. You pout at the conversation as, quite frankly, being referred to as something so fragile hit a nerve. Sure, you’re young, but so were they when they started their journeys! You knew better than to start that conversation as it was one you never won no matter how well you thought out your words.
Aside from the ambience of nature around the three of you, the walk back to camp was quiet. After your game of running from Wild, combined with the peaceful atmosphere and nearly being rocked Sky’s arms, it was hard to keep your eyes open. If Sky was anything to go by, a little nap wouldn’t hurt. Just a little… itty-bitty nap…
“Oh, no you don’t,” a deep voice chuckles as you’re whisked away from Sky’s arms into arms twice the size of the knight’s. Even without his metal armor on, you don’t have to open your eyes to know that the Old Man now had you in his clutches. Based on the way he bounced you in his hold, Time wasn’t about to let you doze off. When that wasn’t getting you to open your eyes, he had the audacity to blow a raspberry against your cheek. You finally opened your eyes and grimace at Time as you wiped off your face.
“Nnnnnnoooooo…” You grumbled. “Sleepy…”
“Nuh uh uh. No way, you little stinker. Last time I let you take a nap in the afternoon had the whole camp up for nearly half the night with how you were still wanting to bounce around. Don’t think I’m making that mistake twice,” Time tsks.
“But I’m tired…” You groan dramatically as you go slack in Time’s grip. He doesn’t let go and makes sure that his hold doesn’t slip by an inch either.
“Well, hello tired- I’m Dad,” Time chuckles. A cacophony of groans echo throughout the camp site and Time only seems to beam at the reaction. You turn your head away and pout for what feels like the hundredth time.
“Hmph… you’re not my dad…”
You wince as Time’s grip on you becomes a vice. The whole camp seems frozen in place like they’ve turned to stone. Each of the boys seem to be enthralled with their boots or the trees all of a sudden. While you’re not blind to the tension, you don’t fully understand the reason for it. Before any questions can be asked, you’re being lowered to the ground and back onto your own two feet. Your stare is nothing but quizzical as you look up at Time who seems to be looking through you rather than at you.
“Right… you’re right, I’m… not your dad,” Time mumbles before walking away. You cock your head to the side at his sudden mood change but decide that this is not the time to comment on it. Grown ups just tended to be weird like that, after all.
“Hey, (Name)! Why don’t you come check out this new trinket Legend and I are working on!” Four shouts from the other side of the camp. The Vet’s back is turned to you and Four is offer you a shaky smile with even shakier ears. You immediately brighten up and bounce on over to check out whatever it is that the two are making.
“Oh! What is it? What is it?” You pressed as you squeezed between the two boys. Four appeared to be working on fastening buckles to a small backpack. It was a backpack that would have only fit either you, Four, or Wind. Based on the design, you knew exactly who it was for.
“Froggy!”
“Yes, (Name), froggy,” Legend chuckles as he keeps looking back over his shoulder. Camp was now a few members short, but Legend wasn’t about to go off and track anybody down.
“Thank you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!” You cheered as you hugged both Four and Legend with all of your might. The boys returned the gesture before Four handed you the completed backpack. It was a frog themed backpack with polished black buttons for eyes and it’s mouth was the opening. The fabric it was made from was thick and soft.
“We thought it was about time for you to get your own pack. And, thanks to Legend’s handiwork, it doubles at a stuffed animal!” Four states with a big grin as he squeezes the backpack.
“It’s the best thing in the world! You guys are the bestest big brothers out there!” You squeal as you hold the frog tight. The sight alone is enough for the two boys to melt. Days of working together in secret to make sure every aspect of the object was perfect was now worth it.
“Like we’d give you anything less than the best,” Legend hums as he ruffles up your hair. You half-heartedly swat away his hand as you continue admiring your new gift. With your attention so laser focused on the backpack, you don’t heart Legend mumble to himself.
“We are your family, after all. And none of us intend to change that for the world.”
---
“Oh, you are just the cutest little thing I ever did see! Look at your chubby little cheeks! And your little ears!” Malon exclaims as she pinches your cheeks and giggles along with you. By a stroke of luck, a portal had brought you and the Chain to Time’s Hyrule. It was your first time visiting Lon Lon Ranch but Malon’s warm and enthused welcome made you feel like it was your tenth time visiting.
“Easy with them, honey. You’ll pinch their face off if you keep that up,” Time chuckles as he observes the interaction. He watches on with a serene expression while the rest of the boys unpack. Seeing you his child interacting with his wife was something he’s wanted to see for awhile. Seeing it in person made him realize how lackluster his imagination was.
“I can’t wait to show you around the ranch! I’ll show you where the cucco pen is, where we grow the crops, where we feed the fairies sugar water, and more! And I have a huge surprise for you as well!” Malon claims as she hoists you up in her arms and walks off with you. Time trusted that Malon would be able to keep you entertained for the rest of the day.
“That’s about the happiest I’ve seen you in awhile,” Wars comments as he approaches Time. The captain was in a jovial mood as well, likely for the same reason Time was. The promise of rest and watching the group’s bundle of joy bounce around was always welcome.
“It’s just… a dream come true. That’s not exactly a common occurrence for us heroes, so of course I’m going to be happy,” Time smiles. He looks up towards the sky and lets out a large sigh of relief. “I’m a married man and have a stable home to return to. Ever since I began this journey with you all, I’ve gotten a whole new family. And now, I’ve got a little one of my own. What more could I ask for after I’ve been through?”
“How about a new lock on the cucco pen? That thing is rusted as all hell and I’m not about to get close if I know those feathered devils can burst through at any moment,” Wars suggests. “I mean, I guess it could also be for the safety of the birds but I don’t think any predator in their right mind would go after something so… evil.”
“Ah, really? Thanks for telling me. You wouldn’t mind installing the new lock, would ya?” Time asks before chortling at the sheer dread that spread across the captain’s face. “I’m joking, I’m joking. Still, I do need to get that fixed here soon. Maybe I could ask Sky to do it? Installing a lock isn’t hard and he always seems to have luck with the birds. All birds, really.”
Wars nods along and falls into a comfortable silence beside the older man. The two observe the rest of the group settling in and also enjoying the ambient atmosphere the farm had in the noon hour. Once done getting Epona into a stall, Twilight walked on over to his ancestor and the captain. Unlike the rest, his expression was less than peaceful. It took only one look at his downturned brow to tell that something was bothering him.
“Rupee for your thoughts, Twi?” Wars spoke up. Twilight didn’t immediately reply and his face only scrunched up further. The rancher was clearly wanting to talk about something but seemed either hesitant to do so or he was thinking over what words to use. Time had an inkling of an idea as to what could be troubling his descendant and it made him straighten up to let Twilight know he had his full attention.
“What… do you plan on doin’ with them?” Twilight eventually asks.
“And who is this ‘them’ you’re referring to?” Time questions.
“(Name)... and their father. Uh, biological father,” Twilight corrects himself. Wars huffs and straightens up to mimic Time’s stance. This was a conversation he had hoped to have pop up later rather than sooner, but there’s no reason to stop it now. (Name) was currently isolated from the group and being entertained by Malon, so they didn’t have to worry about them eavesdropping.
“For (Name), it’s simple- have them live here at Lon Lon Ranch with Malon. With any luck, they’ll end up being moved in during this visit. Malon did write about having their room nearly finished and I received that letter about a week ago,” Time answers simply. “As for their father… I have multiple ways I could go about dealing with him. Some better, some… worse.”
“The whole ‘we’re never going to be able to get you back to your own world’ idea is out the window at this point, I imagine?” Wars asks.
“Correct. Although young and innocent, (Name) isn’t as naive as other children their age. That could partially be due to us teaching them to be more aware of their surroundings and how to better think on their feet. Plus, knowing that monsters can pop up anywhere is likely to make them suspicious of anything,” Time sighs. “In other circumstances I’d be glad for that but… it certainly makes other things harder. Not to mention the distance they always put between us, even if they don’t mean it maliciously.”
“Such as callin’ you Uncle Time or the Old Man and not their Old Man?” Twilight adds. Time nods along with a bitter expression. Twilight offers the best empathetic look he can offer. “I can understand that to a degree. They may call the rest of us their brothers but it just feels so face value at times. Like, in their minds, we’re family but not close family. Like… we’re sooner cousins than siblings.”
“We just have to be patient and wait for the best time to act. When we get it into their mind that we are their family, no one else, is probably when any walls will start to drop. Of course, we have to approach doing so carefully,” Wars comments. “Luckily, we don’t have to worry about whacking down a whole family tree- just a branch.”
“So… the plan is to kill him?” Twilight asks.
“Not necessarily. If we can convince (Name) that their biological father is either dead or no longer waiting for their return, they’ll likely stop keeping barriers between us and them. I don’t want to actually kill him unless he appears and attempts to take (Name) away from us. Either way, it’ll be a rough time for sure, but I’m a patient man and, well, their father. The sooner my child realizes that they’re home and have a loving family, the better,” Time clarifies.
“Well, hey, I don’t mind what we have to do as long as it doesn’t hurt the little one. As long as I can always stop by and visit, I’m on board,” Wars states.
“Speaking of visitin’, how will that work out when this adventure if eventually over with?” Twilight inquires.
“However we can make it work. I don’t believe it’ll be too hard for us to do, honestly. We’ve all got some manner of magic or magical items. Not to mention that all of these portals have to be creating some weak spots in between all of our times. Won’t have been the craziest thing we’ve all done,” Time answers. Twilight and Wars nod along, happy with how the conversation went.
“LINK!”
Everyone snaps to action and reaches for their weapons. Some are left scrambling up from the ground while others assume defensive positions. Time, on the other hand, is already on the move as he barrels toward his house. An upset and nearly crying Malon meets Time half way. Seeing his usually happy wife in such a twist had Time dreading the worse. His stomach only knotted further when he noticed that his child was nowhere to be found.
“Malon! Malon, calm down! Honey, breathe,” Time urges as he holds Malon close. She whimpers against his shoulder as tears begin to wet the fabric of his shirt. After catching her breath for a moment, she pulled away a little and looked at Time with pleading eyes. Eyes that screamed “help me”.
“I-It’s (Name)! Link, I don’t know what I did wrong! They were nothin’ but smiles and laughs while I showed them around! A-And then I- I got to showin’ them their room and they started actin’ different. They kept askin’ questions and I did my best to answer them but that only seemed to make them more and more upset! Then they started cryin’ and hollerin’ and started tryin’ to get away from me! They crawled under their bed and wouldn’t come out no matter what I said! Oh, Link, how could I have upset our baby so?! I’m their mother for Hylia’s sake!” Malon bawls as she quickly becomes a mess of sobs and tears once more. Time is as steady as a rock for her and does what he can to soothe her.
“Shh, honey, shh… it’s okay. You did nothing wrong, okay? Malon, honey, do you hear me? You did nothing wrong,” Time assures as we wipes away the tears from Malon’s cheeks. “(Name)’s just… going through some things, okay? They’re still having to understand some stuff and work through having their life shaken up so suddenly. Don’t take whatever they said to heart- they didn’t mean it.”
While Time consoles his wife, most of the boys had already entered the house. Trained ears could pick up on the muffled sobs coming from one of the upstairs rooms. Based on how upset Malon was, the boys could only imagine how you were. After exchanging some looks and nods, Wind and Twilight ascended the stairs while everyone else hung back. Twilight was quick to shift into Wolfie while Wind took the lead. It wasn’t long until the duo was at the door to your room.
It was everything you’d expect a child’s room to be. Bright, cluttered, and adorable. Shelves were lined with books and dressers were stuffed full of all sorts of clothes. A fluffy bed was pushed off to the far wall, covered by a thick quilt and topped by puffy pillows and a vast array of stuffed animals. Despite the coziness of the room, you had taken to hiding under the bed and muffling your cries with your hands. You were pushed against the wall and didn’t seem to want to leave it any time soon.
“(Name)? Hey… what’s going on?” Wind asked as he got down onto the floor. He contemplated on getting under the bed with you but knew from experience to give you your space. Wolfie whined and joined Wind down on the floor. Even with the wolf whining for you, you still refused to come out. And for you to refuse even Wolfie… the two boys knew that this would be an uphill battle.
A low howl left Wolfie’s mouth after listening to you continuously sob. Slowly, his howl began to change pitch and sway into a song. Wind hadn’t heard the tune before, but it sounded gentle and serene. Sure enough, Wolfie’s melodic howling began to eventually calm you down. Not completely, but at least your crying was getting quieter and you had removed your hands from your face.
“Hey, there’s my little sib! Had me real worried, y’know! Now, tell me, what happened? I ain’t seen you cry like that in a long while!” Wind asked as he gave you a toothy grin. You fiddled with the sleeves to you shirt as you kept wiping your nose on it. You kept looking between Wind and the floor, not exactly wanting to cooperate just yet.
“Mmm… lon… mean… me…” You eventually mumble out. It’s quiet and all jumbled together, but it’s a start.
“Mean? Who’s being mean to you? Who do I have to rough up?” Wind presses with an exaggerated tone. It doesn’t bring a smile to your face but it does seem to finally halt your tears.
“Malon. Malon was,” You reply. Wolfie whines again and Wind finds himself rather stumped. Malon? Malon was mean to you? That just wasn’t adding up to him.
“But she was so ecstatic to have you over! Why would she suddenly flip a switch and be mean to you?” Wind asks.
“She was… she was saying things that didn’t make sense,” You sniffle. “That… that this was my room- like I was going to be living here. That- that she was my mommy and Time was my daddy now because my daddy is dead! But… but that’s wrong! Time’s not my daddy- my daddy’s still alive! He’s still alive and well and waiting for me to come home! Because- because he loves me and said that he’d always love me and that he’d always be there for me!”
The dams break again and the tears return. This time, Wind doesn’t keep his distance as he scoots forward to reach you. You don’t resist him as he pulls you out from under the bed and embraces you. You return the hug and sob against the boy’s shoulder while Wolfie whines and paces beside the two of you. The wolf eventually begins to nudge your cheek with his nose before leaning his head down. You don’t hesitate to bring Wolfie into the hug as well.
Peaking in from the hallway, Time watches the scene with a heavy heart. In a way, he was responsible for this outburst. In his excitement, he didn’t word his letters as carefully as he should have. Not only that, but he should have pulled Malon aside and explained things to her in detail before letting her be alone with you. Had he fully explained the sticky situation he was in at the moment he was sure that this little meltdown would have not happened. Still, the damage is done and now Time has to deal with the fallout. It wasn’t about to be a fun stay at the ranch anymore and you sure as hell weren’t about to stay at the ranch without a fight.
Time had to do something. He knew he’d always have to do something, but he needed to do it now, not later.
No matter how dramatic or messy it got, he had to act.
He wasn’t about to let his family fall apart.
He wasn’t about to let his happily ever after crumble into the ground.
And he wasn’t going to let his baby go.
---
You were going to get into trouble. Big trouble- but you didn’t care. Not when the very thing you’ve been waiting for was within reach. Not when you were so close to going home.
“(Name)! (Name)!” Hyrule eagerly shouted as he ran towards you. He earned a few looks from the townsfolk and from who you were currently with, but that didn’t seem to dampen the traveler’s spirit in the slightest. He nearly slid to a stop before you and dropped down to your level with the widest grin you’ve seen in a long time.
“What’s gotten you so wound up, Hyrule?” Sky asks as he shoots the brunette a confused look. Hyrule seemed to completely disregard Sky’s comment as he grabbed your hands and held them close. Even if you didn’t understand what had him so happy, you couldn’t stop yourself from slowly sharing his grin.
“Yeah? What’s going on?” You pipe up.
“I found him! (Name), I swear- no, I know I found him,” Hyrule claims. Him? Who’s him? Unless… no, he couldn’t be talking about him… could he?
“(Name), I found your father!”
“DADDY?!” You scream. Hyrule and Sky wince and their ears nearly curl, but Hyrule’s smile still doesn’t fade. You now brandish your own full blown grin as you look up at Sky. He looks confused but quickly matches the happy expression on your face.
“That’s awesome! Do you remember where you last saw him, Hyrule? What he was doing? What he was wearing?” Sky questions as he picks you up and holds you. Hyrule is quick to start leading the two of your back to whence he came.
“I overheard him talking to the innkeeper just a bit ago. He was asking about a missing child and kept describing (Name). He even mentioned (Name)’s name, so I knew he had to be either their father or someone looking for them. I was so shocked that I didn’t notice he had left until the bell on the front door rang! I immediately got up to go look for him but he seemed to just vanish into the crowd!” Hyrule tells as he weaves between people and stalls in the busy town. “He was wearing an old red tunic with some roughed up brown pants. His hair was also rather messy and he seemed to be dirty. No doubt that he’s been a mess looking for you, (Name).”
Your heart both hurt and fluttered at the news. It sounded like your dad was going through the wringer to try and find you, but he was finally here! He had ended up in Hyrule and now you could be reunited with him! Your mind raced with all of the things you would do once you had him back. Regardless of how you chose to celebrate, you were just happy.
For hours, the three of you searched what felt like every corner of the town. No matter where you looked, your father was no where to be found. It disheartened you but you weren’t about to give up looking for him.
“Ah… I think I saw the fellow you’re a looking for. He just left town not too long ago- went thataway. Probably didn’t get far, though. Don’t have a mount or wagon- just traveling on his own two feet,” a random merchant tells the three of you.
“He… he left town?” You mumble, heart shattering at the news. “But I’m here…”
“I’m sure he didn’t know, (Name). If he’s as loving as you say he is, he would’ve turned this town upside down had he known you were here,” Sky assures as he wipes away a tear threatening to spill from your eye.
“I agree with Sky. Why don’t we return to camp and tell everyone else? We can all go to bed early tonight so we can get up early tomorrow and catch up to him!” Hyrule suggests. You shake your head at him and cross your arms.
“No! We need to go now! That merchant guy said he wasn’t going to get far on foot by himself. Not to mention that Dad doesn’t seem to have a weapon either!” You stress but Sky and Hyrule don’t seem to listen.
“(Name), we need to stay together. You’ll get lost and easily hurt if you go by yourself. Plus, I’m sure your dad is a smart man. He likely has a way of keeping himself safe from nature and monsters,” Hyrule states. “I promise that we’ll catch up to him later, okay?”
“Mmm… fine.”
“Promise?”
“...”
“(Name)-”
“Fine, fine… promise…”
In your defense, it wasn’t a pinky promise.
Your joy easily overshadowed any guilt or hesitance you had as you snuck your way out of camp. Getting past the watchful eye of Wars was no easy feat, but you knew how to sneak around in even the most cluttered areas by now. Plus, his focus was sooner on things in the woods- not in the camp. When he had gotten up to go check out something rustling in the brush, you made your escape.
With your custom backpack stuffed full of supplies, you marched through the woods like a trooper. You made a b-line in the direction your father was last seen walking in. At the moment, he should be sleeping, so you’re only getting closer and closer with every step you take! That thought alone was enough to keep you awake.
“I wonder what he thinks of Hyrule. Or, well, maybe Hyrules. Has he been wandering for as long as I’ve been with the group? Did he just get here? I hope he’s okay. If he’s not… well, I don’t need to worry! I have healing potions and fairies with me!” You mumble to yourself in your excitement. You do your best to keep your voice low but you can’t help the joy spilling out from your very person at the moment. “I wonder what he thinks of everything? I hope he finds it all cool- like I do. From the different races like the Zora and Rito to all of the magic! Oh, I wonder if he’s seen a fairy yet? Or if he’s maybe been to Wild’s Hyrule and seen all the cool dragons! I can’t wait to tell him about my adventure!”
As if Hylia herself is trying to help, the clouds above you begin to part. The forest is soon bathed in a wash of dappled moonlight. It makes navigating around a whole lot easier, that’s for sure. You keep your eyes peeled for even the smallest detail that would point you a step closer to your father. From foot prints to disturbed plant life to markings and to… and to… to…
“Blood?” You gasp as you see a splatter of red on a nearby trunk. It was dry and browning around the edges, but it was certainly blood. That’s… that’s okay. No, that’s fine. It’s not his blood- surely it’s not! There are so many animals that live out in this forest- it must be from one of them! Yes, that’s it- that’s where that blood came from. Just… just from a predator getting a meal…
When you begin moving again, there’s no more pep in your step. You’re suddenly aware as to how open you really are out in the woods, even with all of the trees surrounding you. You don’t know what could be lying in wait or hiding behind a tree. Heck, there could even be something above you right now and you’d be none the wiser if you didn’t look up. Naturally, that train of thought made you look up but there was nothing there but large branches and the night sky. The looming feeling closing in still didn’t go away.
With a thick and viscous squelch, your foot landed in a spot of mud. You groan and grimace at your misfortune before shaking off the wet earth. As you do so, you notice the reddish brown streaks it leaves behind on your shoe. Normal mud did not to that, so you crouched down to examine the mud further. Being closer to it made you realize it had an additional scent to it other than the earthiness. It was metallic and bitter to your nose- not to mention slightly rotten. Based on what you just saw, there was no doubt in your mind that this was blood. But… what could bleed that much and not have a body nearby? There weren’t any drag marks, so whatever is bleeding is- or at least was- still moving.
“Dad? Daddy? Hello?” You call out. Your voice echoes and bounces around the trees, easily alerting everything nearby. Despite this, nothing responded to you but chirping crickets or hunting owls. Slowly, you followed the direction the blood seemed to be going in. Your gut twisted and churned but you had to see what was at the end of the trail. You had to know.
Whatever had happened was brutal. Whatever or whoever was attacked had been mortally injured if the blood was anything to go off of. Still, they put up a fight to stay alive and run away. How far they got and if they managed to shake off their attackers would be answered the second you found the end of the blood.
When you got to a small drop off, you attempted to look over the edge. The dirt was too loose and too wet to support you, so you found yourself tumbling over the edge before you could back up. You landed harshly on your side and in something. Your left arm ached from the fall but it wasn’t broken. You gripped onto something slippery and soft and pulled yourself up. Your fingers dug and squished into something. You pulled your hand back and looked at it to see it coated in blood. You held your breath as you waited… and waited… and waited…
Then the clouds cleared again.
And a mangled face was staring back up at you.
Screams and cries died in the back of your throat as you scrambled away from the pile of gore you had been sitting on. Bile rose up in your throat before spilling out all over the ground. The smell now clinging to you was horrid. It was vile, rotten, absolutely putrid. Despite the mortifying scene before you, you couldn’t look away.
Whoever this person once was had messed with the wrong crowd of people. The corpse before you was practically butchered and broken. Bones had been snapped and were poking out in random spots. The legs of the corpse were basically gone- hacked and pulverized to mush. Interwoven with the gore was scraps and threads of brown fabric. A torn up red tunic clung tightly to the rotting torso and you could see some clumps of (h/c) hair still attached to the head. This… this was no dead body…
“...d…daddy?”
This was your father.
You scrambled to open your backpack and pull out anything and everything that could help him. You uncorked a bottle on a fairy so she could get to work while you worked on opening a bottle of a red potion. Your quivering hands repeatedly slipped on the cork of the red potion. It eventually slips from your grip entirely and falls onto the group. In your frazzled state of terror, you give up on uncorking the potion and break the neck of the bottle against a nearby rock. You splash the potion against the body before you and wait for it to take affect. It was impossible to tell where the red potion had splashed against your father’s body as everything was already doused in red.
“C’mon… work! Do your job! Heal him! For the love of- WHY AREN’T YOU DOING ANYTHING?!” You screeched at the fairy uselessly hovering beside you. She flutters away from you by some distance, obviously put off by the hysteria taking over you. After having screamed at her, the screams no longer stopped. Nor did the tears streaming down your face or the bitter bile once again rising in your throat. You puke all down your shirt and shiver. You collapse to the ground fully and reach for your father’s hand. It’s mangled, stiff, cold, wet, and dead.
Your father is dead.
You barely register the fairy fluttering around you. She makes all sorts of noises and even bumps up against your face, but you don’t react. Even when she flies into your hair and starts tugging on it will all of her might you still don’t react. Even when your tears dry up and your sobs grow silent, you refuse to leave your father’s side. He was your family- the person you were supposed to return to after this adventure was over with. He was your home. And now he was gone.
A loud and strangled wail echoed throughout the forest. Cries, screams, sobs, and shouts sound out in a horrible symphony. The voices sound like they’re so close yet so distant at the same time. The voices were so warped by emotion you couldn’t tell who, let alone what, was screaming. Vaguely, you could make out your name being shouted out over and over and over again. You can’t help but keep staring at the corpse of your father.
People did not do this to him. People do not butcher or maim like this.
But monsters do.
Your training finally kicked in as you sprung up and ran. Ran and ran and ran for your life. The wails and cries for you didn’t stop and only seemed to increase. Whether or not the monsters were aware of you now was something you didn’t care about. You just had to keep running and hope. Hope that you’d lose them. Hope that you’d get to somewhere they couldn’t reach. Hope that you’d stumble across the camp or travelers or even a town. Hope that you’d just make it.
Heavy and hard footsteps ran right behind you. You pushed yourself further as the monster was now hot on your heels, swiping at you in an attempt to pull you right into its awaiting claws or maw. You didn’t want to look back, not even for a second, because you had to keep pushing forward. If you hesitated, stumbled, or even stuttered for a moment- you’d be dead. If you could out maneuver just enough for just a bit further, the monster should lose steam and stop pursuing you. You had to keep going. You had to win.
Something hooks into the the fabric of your backpack and you were suddenly being pulled backwards. You slammed into a hard chest and immediately had your mouth covered by a rough hand. You bit into the skin of the monster as hard as you could but it refused to let go. Even with the hand covering your mouth, you cried and screamed as loud as you could for anyone to hear you. You scratch and kick as hard as you can but the monster still doesn’t relent. This was it. You had lost. And now you had to pay the price.
“Da-a-addy… I want my daddy…” You whimpered as you tried to curl up on yourself.
“Shh, shh… I’m here, baby, I’m here. Daddy’s here,” Time hushes as he cradles you close to his chest. He rocks you back and forth as you break down in his arms. He himself is on the verge of breaking down because he’s never seen you so upset before. Even with your breakdown back at Lon Lon Ranch, it wasn’t like this. Time didn’t know what to do or say that could make this better- he just couldn’t. So he continued to hold you and hold back his own tears.
Everyone else eventually caught up to him and you but he refused to let you be taken from him. He folded over on himself and completely covered you with his body. He wouldn’t let anyone even touch you without snapping at them to stay back. He had to be the one to comfort you because he is your father. He is responsible for your hysteria. He never meant for things to play out this way but it did and now he has to do his damnedest to make it better. He had to.
He had to.
He had to, he had to , he had to! He had to do it, he had to! He couldn’t lose you! Not you, not his baby! It was just some random man and a necessary evil- nothing more or less. Surely you’d understand? You had to understand, you had to! He was desperate and he had to do something! Please, please stop crying. Please don’t push him away. Please, he loves you! You’re his baby and he’d never stop loving you so please don’t hate him! Please doN’T LEAVE HIM! DON”T LEAVE! DON”T GO! STAY AND BE HAPPY WITH HIM AND MALON AND EVERYONE ELSE PLEASE! Please… please…
“Please…”
---
“How are they?” Time asked as he watched Malon close the door to your room as you had finally just fallen asleep. Malon looked upset and crestfallen, but she was pushing through her emotions to stay strong for you.
“Quiet. They hardly speak and refuse to be left alone. And when they cry they just… cry. No noise, no words, nothin’,” Malon sighs as she leans against the wall. She gives Time a hard look and crosses her arms. “I’m still waitin’ for you to explain to me what happened. You just dropped them off and barely said a word.”
“I’m sorry, it’s just… what happened hurt me more than I expected it to. Their tears and screams and pleas… I was responsible for all of it. I felt like they just wanted to be away from me and the boys so I… let them,” Time murmurs as he rubs a hand through his hair. He did his best to block out the events of that night but they stuck like glue. If he had to guess, he probably had as many nightmares about that night as you did.
“Did you mean to scare them like you did?” Malon presses. Time shakes his head. “Then what did you intend to do?”
“We were just supposed to stumble across the body. They weren’t supposed to see it- even for a moment. We’d tell them that it was their father and that he was dead. Then we’d comfort them and do what we could while they grieved. And, of course, they’d end up staying here the next time we stopped by,” Time explained. Malon groaned and pinched her nose. She wanted to get angry with Time at his rather callous method- and she was- but scolding wouldn’t do any good.
“This is goin’ to be a rough time for them. What they witnessed… that’s goin’ to stick with them throughout their entire life. Trauma like that isn’t goin’ to go away,” Malon hissed.
“I know…” Time whispers as he hangs his head low. He refused to look at anything but the floor by now. Even if Malon were to try and look him in the eyes, he’d likely just cover his face with his hands.
“Just… be here, will ya? I know you said it seemed like they wanted space from you but I don’t believe that. They are an eight year old havin’ to work through one of the hardest things in life. They shouldn’t be grievin’ at their age but they are. And as their father you have to be there for them. I can’t do this alone,” Malon stresses.
Crreeeeaaaaaaak….
Malon’s and Time’s heads snapped to the door of your room as it inched open. You slowly came out of the room with red rimmed eyes and a death grip on a new and fluffy stuffed animal. You made no attempt to dry your cheeks or say anything to the two adults before you. At your silence, Time slowly got to his knees and wiped your eyes.
“Hey there… mommy’s been telling me what’s wrong. You’ve been having nightmares?” Time asks in as gentle a tone he can muster. You faintly nod your head but give no other reply than that. Time pulls you into a tender embrace and lays your head against his shoulder. He rubs circles onto your back as he holds you and sways you into his arms. Malon is right beside him and is whispering gentle words to you as she kisses away any new tears.
“Do you want some warm milk, sweetie?” Malon asks as she cards her fingers through your hair. You shake your head in response. Your eyes were heavy and it was clear you were still tired, so no sleep aid would be needed to make you fall asleep. Staying asleep would be the problem.
“Do you want to sleep with daddy in his and mommy’s bed?” Time offers. You don’t nod or shake your head at Time but he feels you hold onto him closer. He takes that action as a nonverbal “yes” and he carries you to his bedroom. He shuffled you under the covers before settling in himself. You keep yourself pressed against his chest, not wanting even an inch of space to separate you. Time sees Malon looking in from the hallways before slowly closing the door.
“... daddy?”
Time nearly jumps in his skin but stays still. He looks down at you but you still haven’t looked up at him. Still, you were finally talking and that was a step forward. And you were addressing him as your dad.
“Yeah?” Time asks with a tone barely above a whisper.
“You won’t… die… right? You won’t… leave?” You mumble out.
“No… no, not at all. I love you, (Name), and I won’t ever leave you. Your mommy and all of your big brothers love you too. Once this adventure is over, we’ll all be one big, happy family. Okay? I promise,” Time assures as he kisses your forehead. Slowly, he watches as you raise a hand and curl all but one finger into a fist.
“Pinky promise?” You ask. You finally raise your head as well and look Time right in the eyes. There was a glint in your tired eyes. A sign that you, even if it were for just a moment, was reaching through your grief. Time hooked his pinky finger with yours.
“Pinky promise,” Time assures. You nod and snuggle your head against his chest once again. You don’t pull your hand away from Time’s and he doesn’t pull his away from yours. He lays there, holding you and staring down at you with nothing but love and happiness in his eyes. Even when you fall asleep, Time doesn’t get up to leave you alone.
No, not when his baby was finally home.

Hello~! I love your works!
May I request a Yandere Sky x Crimson Loftwing! Reader? NSFW?
Since Crimson Loftwings are like extinct species (according to the wiki) what if they’re blessed with a special ability to turn half-hylian and half-loftwing.
CL! Reader despite being avian has a personality of a cat, she’s a gremlin but she loves Sky and is loyal to him (she has a crush on him and has a courting gift, though can’t because of his relationship with Zelda).
CL! Reader is very feral when it’s mating season, thus she tends to stay away. She doesn’t like getting kidnapped *cough* Groose & Wing Ceremony *cough*.
You can add more if you’d like!
I hope this request is okay!
- 🪶
Okay, since I'm a sucker for a happy ending and Yandere boys who would do anything for reader I did end up breaking Zelda and Link up. But its for the greater cause!
I assume you meant that Reader is in fact Crimson and can shift? Because that's what i wrote it as.
@lovanmari I lied I don't have anymore Sage currently written but I have THIS
Anyway, NSFW so Minors DNI! 18+
Smut CW: AFAB! Reader, Reader is Loftwing shifter, not a whole lot as it's a little bit of an afterthought?
Tumblr media
Sky knew there was something different about his Loftwing.
He knew that Crimson was much more affectionate than, say, Groose's own loftwing, and was much more protective. She clucked and nipped at wandering hands that got too close for her liking. She would gently nuzzle at his head, smoothing his hair and righting his clothing with small tugs at his clothing. She would wrap a wing around him if she felt the air in Skyloft was too cold and force him into her gorgeous feathers.
He always felt there was a spark of something too intelligent in Crimson's eyes. Like there was something he wasn't quite seeing even if it was right in front of his face.
It never occurred to him that it could've been something bigger until Groose had not only stolen his Loftwing, but had apparently held her captive as well. Something primal had made him so angry about the fact that he thought he could take his Loftwing. Part of his soul. And for what? So he could try and appear cool to Zelda?
It may have been a foolish thought, but at that point? Groose could have her. There was no realm that he would choose a girl over the other half of his soul. He would chose Crimson over anyone. No ifs, ands, or bits about it.
Maybe that was what had him so angry. Groose had thought he could get between him and Crimson, because...why? Crimson was rare? Had chosen him? That was no real excuse.
Maybe Groose was invested in seeing if the Legends were true. In the depths of the night, when the older students and adults stumble out of the bars, they would bramble about how Crimson Loftwings were blessed with the ability to shift between a Hylian form and their feathered one. How they were blessed by the Goddesses to act as a guide towards the chosen heroes. He could never confirm nor deny these rumors when he was asked because he simply didn't know.
Crimson would bristle whenever he asked her, clicking her beak a few times before shoving his face into her feathers. He tried not to ask since it brought her distress and that was no way to treat his other half. Groose had pestered him on more than one occasion that he was being too soft on his Loftwing, but Sky didn't believe so. How else should he treat his Loftwing other than with the utmost respect.
Still, if that was the reason, to get answers about a myth that wasn't even guaranteed to be true, Groose would pray his Loftwing could reach the same speeds as Crimson.
When he found his Crimson, she was held behind bars with two of Groose's lackeys laughing as they walked off. He had waited until they were out of earshot before moving only to feel himself suck in a harsh breath and freeze.
Crimson had trilled bitterly, using a claw to swipe at the wooden bars that were much too thick to break through before retreating from the entrance. Her wings had shrouded around her form as light puffed around her form before eventually popping in a fall of sparkles that died before they reached the ground. The wings retreated and instead of his Loftwing there was a woman.
A gorgeous, other worldly woman.
Your eyes were lined with blue as a means to highlight your gorgeous irises. Your wings remained the same red, with white and purple trimmings, only now there was a watching tuft of white and purple feathers on your chest. On your hands (Hands. His Loftwing had hands) were sharp, blood red nails that clicked once they were laid against the wooden bars. Your feet (Actual FEET-) had matching talons, which dug at the ground as you huffed, blowing your bangs out of your face with an annoyed huff. There was something angry on your face, your perfect face- he didn't think beauty like this could've been achieved-, as you searched for a way out. When you couldn't immediately find a way out, you shook your head in the same manner you did when you were a Loftwings, wings flaring out in a puff of air.
He couldn't help himself.
"Crimson?"
Your eyes shot towards him immediately as your cheeks positively lit up at the sight of him. You looked frazzled as he stepped closer, looking around your cage as if you had missed something earlier to give you a way out. When you found nothing, your flared wings went to curl around your form, which made him startle. "No, wait! Please, let's just...talk?"
To your credit, you did pause, looking hesitantly back at him then your wings before letting him fall. With a nod towards you, Sky quickly gave a cheeky 'Wait right there' which you huffed at before he was scrambling to find the switch. He couldn't find anything so he took to destroying the pillars with a sword instead, watching them splinter with one fell strike.
Your wings came up to shield you from the flying shards before they were falling and he was racing up to you, holding onto your shoulders. "Look at you, Crimson. You're- You're..." He couldn't even find the words, using one hand to run through his hair as he stared into your eyes. He knew they were too intelligent to belong to a simple Loftwing. He knew it! Goddess, you were so ethereal. And here you were!
"You're Hylian." Is all he could come up with, because that alone was enough to have him sputtering. You looked at him like he was crazy, maybe he was, before nodding. Your mouth opened and he held his breath. Could you speak to him?!
"...I...Am. In a way." It was croaked and broken, with a heavy accent he couldn't quite place, but it was you. And he adored it. The way the syllables rolled off your tongue and your lips shaped themselves to properly form the sounds needed. You watched him expectantly, as if looking for a certain reaction. There was no reaction to be had though. Not a bad one in the very least. You were still Crimson. Still the other half of his soul.
His Soulmate. That's what you were. His soulmate.
He liked the sound of that.
<><><><>
Sky was admittedly a little hesitant to ride on your back after that. Of course, after you had shifted back, you made it abundantly clear that you were not going to let Groose win, not after what he put your through, and went about nipping at his ears to get him to listen. He placated you with gentle scratches around your cheeks, making your churr, before he was swinging onto your back. You took off without much fanfare, landing at the starting line just as the other races were lining up their own Loftwings.
Groose let his disbelief show, scowling just a bit before schooling his features. Sky didn't pay it any mind, too busy watching you. While he may not have noticed it before, he definitely noticed it now. Groose's own Loftwing and you seemed to have some sort of rivalry going yourself. She had chuffed at you with a repetitive clicking of her beak, as if laughing, only for you to side step just a bit, shaking your head and feathers dismissively. This made the clicking stop before a low trilling took it's place.
Was this beast threatening you?
You still paid it no mind, lowering your head as your wings gently tussled out from where you kept them tightly bound to your side. That would not stand. How dare this common filth even dream of being on your level? Did they not understand the true divinity that you were?
As if sensing his distress, which you probably could, you threw your head back with another shake. You're right, he thought defeatedly. You were right and he would just have to show them who was boss during the Wing ceremony.
He missed the feeling of your presence so close when you took off once more, waiting for his call. When it did come, you were quick to scoop him up as you had a million times before hand, catching him and soaring, moving everyway needed. You two were just as in sync as you always had been. And Always would be.
When Groose's Loftwing had launched itself at you, talons digging at your side and making you stumble, Sky felt himself snarl at the action. He knew he should've struck the dumb beast down the second he had a chance. He would ensure you got the best care after this, but when he went to pull you back towards Skyloft, you stubbornly refused and dived after the Golden Loftwing. It took some fancy spins and even more impressive flips to avoid the eggs being launched your way, but it seemed he was your eyes and you could see everything he saw.
The two of you had won easily, your head shaking triumphantly as your preened. His own hands ruffled and scratched your feathers, making you chirp happily before a call was making him look up. Zelda had jumped off the edge of Skyloft with no call for her own Loftwing, forcing you to speed up lest she fall to her untimely demise. He wasn't happy about it, not at all, especially with your injuries, but he caught her nonetheless.
When you landed near the Goddess statue, he was upset to see you take off once more, blood staining your white patches of feathers. The fact that you were hurt was eating away at him, but he couldn't just up and leave with Zelda going on with the ceremony. You stayed close in the very least, circling high above them with Zelda's Loftwing. You didn't look down once, not even when he looked up hoping to meet your own eyes.
Did you not like Zelda? Did you not understand that he would chose you before he ever even considered her?
You just had to say the word and he'd walk away right then and there... On second thought- He supposed there was a reason you hadn't shown your Hylian form. And he'd respect your wishes.
Zelda stepped close. Too close. He wanted to push her away only for her to redirect his attention to somewhere he had to jump with his newly acquired Sail cloth. When he hesitated, she pushed him, that conniving little-
You dived to try and catch him, crying out when your injuries were strained, but he had enough wherewithal to catch himself lest you hurt yourself further. This was so infuriating. He just wanted to get you checked out! Was that too much to ask? His soulmate was injured!
And Zelda was asking for a ride through the clouds?!
He didn't even get the chance to deny her before she was climbing onto her own Loftwing and you were nudging into his side.
<><><><>
He knew the ride was a stupid, no good, rotten idea. Not only had that horrid wench tried confessing feelings that meant nothing to him, but you had been ripped away from him. He knew you were fast in your Loftwing form, but with you as injured as you were, not even you could evade the tornado that tore him from you. He could still feel the blood staining his palm from where you had dived after him, curling around his form as your spun to try and correct yourself.
You had flown the two of you back to the academy before collapsing in a heap, only having the energy the screech out loud enough to cry for help.
He hadn't seen you since. Some of the Loftwing vets had taken you away from him and kept him away, claiming you needed your rest. Actually, that Crimson needed the rest. But you weren't Crimson anymore. He wasn't sure who you were, but he knew that you were his. Then he was forced down to the surface. Too much time had passed where none of his calls worked before he had stumbled across a far off island. He had caught a ride on a feral Loftwing, which had carried him to this...Utopia. With abundant forests and clear waters, it was like some sort of trance befell him as this Loftwing carried him closer. In the center of it all was a large fountain, surrounded by blooming flowers he had never seen before and more fauna and foliage than he thought possible.
But what really caught his eye was you. After months of not seeing you, there you were. Sitting right in the center with long, translucent robes floating peacefully around you, alongside your wings. Your eyes were closed and a wreath of flowers, red, white and purple, wrapped around your head.
You were right there.
YOU WERE RIGHT THERE-
Goddess, he never thought he'd see you again. He didn't hesitate in running towards, crying out Crimson even if he knew it wasn't your name. Your eyes snapped open before you were looking over at him, scrambling to stand. You didn't run from him. No, you ran right into his arms, wrapping both them and your wings around his form as you clung to him.
"Link." The sound of his voice rolling off your tongue was more than he ever imagined it to be. Sweet and harmonious. "You're okay."
"I'm okay? Of course, who cares about that. Look at you! You're alive and safe and-" He took a breath, running his hands down your arms as he pulled away to really look at you once more. You were divine. "And I never got your name."
You flushed before chuckling, shaking your head as your wings pulled away to shake themselves free of water. "Y/n."
...He had disgraced you with the name Crimson. Why had you ever put up with it when you had that truly empyrean title? Goddess, he would never get tired of saying it, of reading it, of thinking it. Because that was who you were. You were Y/n. Not Crimson. His Soulmate, Y/n.
He loved the sound of that.
You let him lay his forehead on yours for a second before startling back, feathers puffing as he tried reaching for you again. Where were you going? He was right there?!
"You can't be here, right now-" You stuttered, cheeks absolutely aflame as you stepped back. "Any time but right now-"
He blinked. Then it clicked. He knew that Loftwings had mating seasons. The more mature ones disappeared from Skyloft for three weeks before returning with new hatchlings in tow.
This was the year Crimson had been mature enough to leave. But Crimson was you and-
Oh.
His hands caught your own as you stared up at him with eyes wide and innocent. He liked his lips, watching you swallow. "It's your mating season right?"
"I-well, yes, but, you have a mate Link, you should not be here-" You tried pulling away, but his grip tightened. He had a mate? Last he checked, his soulmate was right here in front of him. "I have no romantic partner."
You flushed a deeper red, avoiding his eyes. "Zelda has shown great romantic interest in you-"
He knew you didn't like Zelda. It was a shame you hadn't talked to him about it though. He'd dispel your every worry. Within a heartbeat, he'd wave away your fears.
"I have none in her. As far as I'm concerned, my other half is right in front of me." He stepped into your space, nose to nose, as he looked down at you.
You swallowed.
Then you twisted your arm to grab his own wrist, pulling him deeper into the forest.
<><><><>
"Golden Goddess," How had he lived without you. Without your claws raking their mark up his spine. Without your cries, a distinct mix of your own voice and the sounds you made as a Loftwing, calling for him, yearning for him. Without you, clenching around him as he drilled into you, over and over again.
How he had lived without his soul being truly whole. It was like the connection you two had before hand was puppy love compared to what it had evolved into.
You had brought to him what you had called your nest, which was a collection of plush leaves and grass all hidden under a soft blanket you must've swiped off of Skyloft. Upon closer inspection, it looked like one of his older ones which made his entire being absolutely sing. Just as he went about admiring the thing, you bashfully gifted him with a feathered earring, adorned with newly carved wooden beads and gorgeous pieces of ruby. You had explained that it was a courting present that you had made for your intended betrothed-- that you were supposed to find during your first mating season-- but you had only ever thought of him in a romantic sense.
And it made his heart just buzz.
He intended to ensure that there was no question on how he felt about you, quickly switching out one of his earrings for that one before pouncing and pinning you beneath him. He would make sure the only name you remembered was his. That the only thing you could think about would be him. That you were his in every way that he was yours.
There was no going back after this. From this point on, he considered himself a married man. Of course, that meant you would have to show your Hylian form on Skyloft, or you would have to runaway together (Which didn't sound like a bad idea, if he were being honest), but you were his.
He'd get you your own courting gift as a respect to your culture, and a symbol that you were his.
But first, he'd give you marks in his own signature way to tell everyone you were taken.
Your wings were splayed behind you as you laid beneath him, clinging to him desperately as his hips rocked against yours. One of your legs hooked around his back while the other wrapped around one of his own. The air around you two was humid with the smell of sex and the taste of sweat.
Everything seemed to click into place around him as your bond solidified. Whatever bond other Hylian's thought they had with their Loftwings was merely laughable compared to what he now had with you.
And he'd make sure everyone knew it.

Love me, Love me not
For the hero that you once thought that you knew, was never who he portrayed himself as, but really, did you expect that if the chains that bound him to good were to break, he would stay as the same old him?
character — Sky (and a hint of Zelda), romantic.
cw — a tadbit of self-aware!sky+zelda, +yandereish behaviour, homicide attempt..?
what a little chat about the absolutely terrifying self aware sky with the dearest @wayfayrr did iaksjdksnd. sky being the good n little ol' him is good, but sky being an absolute menace just because he knows he can? oh dear... (also tagging @yourlocaltreesimp, since they're one of the biggest sky simps I've ever seen).
edit 1: i don't condone unhealthy behaviour or toxic relationships, but i thought it'd be interesting to note that the feelings i portray in my yandere content are usually more love related than in this one. for this short I'm not sure, but i wouldn't call sky feelings “love”, but something more akin to... the desire you feel for something rare. yeah, i guess it fits.
Tumblr media
It hadn't been long since you arrived at the skyloftian Hyrule and of course Sky was excited, you thought it was strange that Sky would totally disregard his best friend, possibly a past lover, presence to run straight to his loft, but from what he had told you what a skyloftian had with their loft was something akin to a soul bond, and from the woman's nonchalant reaction, maybe it wasn't that strange.
“Link is really attached to Crimson, as Crimson is as attached to him.” Zelda said, distant, while you watched him making a few rounds above the city.
You nodded, eyes fixated on the performance, though you could feel the woman soft eyes turning to you, you said nothing on her behaviour even as she smiled, shaking her head slightly and then going away.
It was only a few minutes after Zelda left, that Sky came back to the ground, his smile saccharine sweet as he naturally let his arms fall around your shoulders.
“It's too bad you didn't want to come with me... I'm sure Crimson would like you too.” He sighed contently against your neck, before looking into your eyes.
“Still, I'd rather not go. But I'm not against meeting her.” He agreed at the idea, quickly talking about how the both of you could go tomorrow to preen her since it had been a long time since he did it.
You followed behind his steps as he lead you to the meeting spot at the central plaza, quiet as you tried to push away the thoughts intruding on your peaceful mind.
The way his smile seemed so strained when near his friends, the way the other knights avoided his gaze, the way even the shopkeepers would never against his offers.
It wasn't until way past midnight that your suspicions were confirmed.
Everyone was already sleeping, vacating a few empty lodgings they had for the knights in training.
The air up in the Skyloft was too thin and cool for your liking and you could barely close your eyes without getting uncomfortable, so you went for a breather down the halls.
You could hear voices by the end of the dark corridor, recognising Sky soft tone you were about to call him out, but a loud thud resounding at quiet ambience.
You stopped.
A hitched breath and a low growl. You could see the ashen blonde back turned to you, a familiar figure knelt on the floor in front of him, vivid red hair far more disheveled than when you had seen earlier that day. Groose.
“It was too bad what happened to Zelda...” Sky started, a certain lilt to his voice that made Groose tremble, eyes falling to the floor. “I really expected you'd know better than to talk like that after what happened.” His voice was eerily calm.
“I didn't—” The red-haired started, but his breath was caught in his throat as the sole of Sky's boot made contact with his chest, no real impact. A threat.
“Groose. I gave you a warning before going away. I know you're stupid, but you should at least try to remember what other people say, shouldn't you?” No answer, but it seemed exactly what Sky was expecting as he huffed, getting his foot out of the man's chest.
“This is my last warning, next time you look at something of mine I will really let you free fall out of the isle without your dear companion to save you. Don't you ever think of looking at my deity if you want to keep those foul eyes of yours.” The... hero, continued, voice sweet as always and that was your cue to leave.
You turned on your heels, not looking back. That wasn't real, this was just a joke, he would never be like that, a monster, but even then, you could swear you saw him looking back at you, the hint of a smile playing on his lips.
You ran to your room, locking the door behind you and hiding inside the mattresses.
It wasn't real, it wasn't real, it wasn't real, it—
Knock knock.
He was at your door. You stayed quiet, not moving a muscle in fear the person outside would hear. Another knock. You didn't move. And then you heard steps fading away, only then sighing in relief.
Click.
The door unlocked and you frooze in place, shutting your eyes to feign sleep. You couldn't even notice how much you were trembling.
“[Name]..?” You heard his voice, steps approaching the bed until it stopped beside you. “Poor thing. Must've been so tired.” The mattress dipped and his hand brushed against your cheeks, leaving a trail of goosebumps on your skin. “My sweet little [name], so frail...” His voice grew closer and you could feel his breath fanning over your face “I know you're awake, my dear.”
Your eyes shot open, but before you could scramble away from him, his hands locked on your forearms, pressing you tightly against the bed, a twisted smile spreading across his face, manic gaze focused on you, you, you.
“Did you—” You gasped for air, not even noticing how you had stopped breathing. “Did you push Zelda..?” You voice died, and his looked melted into something comforting.
He didn't, did he? It was a misunderstanding. He was just mad earlier. You held your hopes while staring at him.
“It was needed, my dear.” He slowly sunk into your space, arms wrapping around you a little too tightly for comfort. “She understood me, she accepted it, she knows that fake is not our goddess. But you...” His darkened eyes looked up to you, from the shoulder he rested his head on. “Our deity, so supreme above us, foolishly egoistical being”
It was strange seeing Sky, the pure image of calmness so... frantic, as if his mind was elsewhere. It was an alien feeling, uncomfortable and making your throat clog with something heavy.
You slowly moved your hands to try and rub at his back in a form of comfort, he easily accepted the touch, closing his eyes, but before you could question him on his behaviour, he started talking again.
“My deity, please, please, don't ever say you'll leave me. Never again, please, allow me to be selfish this once.” His grip tightened. “I don't know what I will do if you say something like that again.”
It all clicked when he said that. The last time you picked it up, too tired to pass through even the turorial. You thought it was strange that things had proceded too quickly, but maybe your memory was faulty. You shuddered when he huffed a laugh, too dark in comparison to his usual, as his hands ran up your back.
“Wait, Sky— I mean, Link, I never meant it like that, I—” A sharp inhale of breath forced you to cut your own words. “W- What's this?”
You could feel warm blood oozing from your right ear, a new earring attached to it. He finally let you from his hold, and your hands instantly flew to the newest addition, feeling a soft brush against your hands. A bloody red feather.
You shot a sharp glare to him, to which he shrugged, letting another earring hang on his hands. This one a vibrant tone of blue, that equally hung from one of his pierced ears. He smiled in mock compassion.
“Come on, dear, I have to finish putting it on you.” Our claim on you.

I can't believe that I almost missed Sky's aniversary!!! happpy twelvth birthday to skyward sword! <3 I'd just like to say thank you to @yourlocaltreesimp for reblogging something that reminded me that today is the boys birthday - this peice is all because of them I wrote it in 40 mins so sky could have something for his bd before the date changes It's a continuation on my self aware sky fic with some headcanons and a small drabble under the cut about how the both of you celebrate his birthday <3
[masterlist]
Tumblr media
✦ After about a month and a half of being with you, the both of you are quite used to living together. With Sky getting a grip on how to handle being a real flesh and blood person now - the both of you have even started on getting paperwork sorted for him to be recognised as a real person even if he’s never seen apart from your side
✦ The past few days though he’s had this energy around him, like a little kid excited for their - oh that's right, you’d almost forgotten the anniversary of his game was coming up. No wonder why he’d be so excited about it.
✦ In the time it’s taken you to realise the date he’s taken his chance to be a little more clingy, you can blame nostalgia for him wanting to be closer. The feeling of the day he was created making him come to terms with just how lucky he was to be standing right next to you - his saviour lover.
✦ If you were to do anything for him, say buy him gifts, treat him to an expensive meal, take him for a date, set aside the day for him or heck even spend the morning in bed cuddling with him? He’d fall for you all over just being flattered to the core over how much you care about him, if there was even a sliver of a chance of him loosing his possessive tendencies before that chance is shattered beyond repair now. You’re his and he’s never letting go.
✦ with how nostalgic he’s gotten, it’s not all that much of a surprise that he’s asked if he can play through the game on his own, with you sitting right next to him naturally
“Are you sure about this Link? I mean I’ve not touched it since you well, since you crawled out. Who’s to say that he won’t figure it out as well?”
“It should be fine, what would be the odds of it happening twice? Besides if it does I’d bet he’ll feel the same way my dove.”
He’s not certain which is as clear as day, of course he doesn’t have a clue what could happen if he plays. What would happen if the version of himself he plays as hates him more than anything? If he gets jealous? If he tries to bring him back? Link hasn’t considered any of that, not that I can hold it against him. After that first day out of the game he’s mellowed out so much, it really was his desperation that made him terrifying - not that that doesn’t slip out every now and then of course. If he really wants to play? We’ll deal with the consequences of it together.
“If you’re really sure then love, want me to grab some snacks while you set up the switch?”
“I’d love that, thank you, darling.”
A soft kiss to my cheek is all that I need to become a blushing mess as he moves to turn everything on, including the new tv I had to buy after he shattered the old one, not too expensive but still more of a hassle than I wanted to have to deal with. Seeing as he’s never had any previous experience with any technology like this he’s picked it up like a natural, so in no time at all we’re back to sitting together on my couch to play. It’s nice like this, all gentle and domestic. If you didn’t know Link wasn’t originally a ‘real’ person you wouldn’t even be able to tell, he fits in like he was always supposed to be here with me. The clothes he’s nicked only adding onto that feeling of belonging like he’s just any other boyfriend stealing his partner's clothes.
“Guess now is the moment of truth to whether or not I’ll be dealing with another nuisance stealing my heart then.”
“I wouldn’t let him take your heart, that belongs to me and only me.”
“Alright then, are you gonna make a save then my lovable anomaly or are you just gonna threaten someone you’re not sure even exists?”
“I’m making it my dearest player, I just had to make sure you were fully certain of where I stand.”
True to his word, he did make a save file - although he did name it something different than his own name - not before kissing me yet again though. Playing it with him was nice, seeing his reactions to his past where he didn’t have to get traumatised? It’s one of the sweetest things I've seen in a long while. It did seem I was right though, he didn’t manage to get to demise before we had a shocked link staring at the both of us like his world had been ripped apart. His reaction was so different to my link’s though.
He’s petrified.
“Wh- What’s going on - who are you both – wh- wh-” … “And why do you look just like me?”

The Final Promise₊˚✩⊹
Chapter 9
Linked Universe x reader
Warnings: a LOT of angst and negative mental health, little fluff, Legend being Legend, some hints at spice
₊˚✩⊹
“Where the hell are we, Champ?” Legend groans, shaking his head.
Wild pulls out his slate, “We’re home! My hom- Hyrule, at least. We’re just past the Great Plateau, Southwest.”
He looks at the map a bit closer, “Close to Gerudo Highlands, actually.”
Your ears pick up at that. You were back on course, in a way.
“How far till the last stable before the desert, Wild?” you ask. He taps his chin in thought.
“Well if we start moving now, we could reach it by nightfall probably.”
And with that, you and the group started walking. You didn’t have Epona with you, so everyone was on foot. You walked with Twilight and Hyrule, talking about anything, you weren’t actively listening. You were too busy staring at Legend’s backside, as if you were trying to make him look at you.
“You good, Sugarplum? You’ve been zoned out for the past 20 minutes or so.” Hyrule whispers to you. Curse everyone for being so damn observant.
You nodded, “Yeah, just uh. I don’t know, a lot’s on my mind.” you mumble, finally pulling your eyes away from the Vet. Your staring wasn’t going anywhere.
“Are you and Vet ok? It seems like something’s going on between you two, but I don’t wanna assume.”
“We’re just stressed about our own situations. Nothing to worry about.”
“You should talk to him, y’know. That usually helps.”
“I trie- I will. I’m just a bit mentally preoccupied at the moment.” you said with a sad smile, Hyrule nods at you in understanding.
“I’m here for you, if needed.”
You keep walking, eyes focused on the terrain ahead of you. The red rock of the Gerudo Highlands were always quite a sight, even in game, but seeing them for yourself for the first time in ages was incredible.
The day passed relatively quickly, the only sounds being that of the wind and the occasional chatting between the boys. You didn’t talk much, not exactly having the social battery to converse.
You walked up to Time, as you always fell into comfortable silence with him and you felt like you haven’t spent much time with him since your incident. He gives you a quick glance, looking back at the path ahead.
“I can hear you thinking, Y/n. What is it?” he asked, still not looking at you.
You fumble with the straps on your harness, a nervous habit.
“I, just, uh feel like we haven’t had much time together lately.”
You think for a second. Wait.
“That wasn’t supposed to be a pun. Sorry.”
“I know what you meant, its alright. No need to apologize.”
“I feel like something else is on your mind though, Y/n. I think I may know what, but… I don’t know if now is the best time or place to talk about it. I don’t want the younger ones snooping in things they shouldn’t be.”
You laugh, “Time, we’re with grown men and one pre-teen.”
He scoffs, “They act like children.”
“You’re not wrong.”
You both stay quiet for a moment, taking in the serenity of the evening, the sun starting its descent into night. You can make out the faint plume of smoke in front of you, meaning that the last stable before Gerudo Desert was coming up. Looking up, you can see a few wolves on the snowy tops of the valley, looking down at you and your group. They howled for a bit, no doubt being curious and/or displeased with your presence in their territory.
You felt a shiver go up your spine, tickling the back of your neck.
“God, I forgot how cold the valley can get towards nighttime.” You pull out your only sweater, the famous Link hoodie that the group made fun of you for, but hey, at least you won’t freeze.
Pulling the hood up, you sighed in content. You sure will get some looks, but you were willing to sacrifice your dignity.
You all approached the stable, Wild jogging up to the innkeeper, checking you all in. Luckily, Wild had sold some precious stones earlier in the day with a merchant, so he had enough to pay for all of you.
“Inn’s kinda full, so we’re gonna have to share beds. I’ll share with whoever, don’t really have a preference.”
A few groans reverberate through the group, but there’s no conflict in pairing up.
Four walks up to you, hand on his knife holster, “Looks like it’s gonna be you and me, you ok with that?” You shrug, not like you had another option anyways.
You both walk to the vacant bed, which happens to be toward the very back of the inn, opposite of the main office. Wild’s inns were cozy, its just all the open space and vulnerability made you anxious.
“I’ll be right with you, don’t worry. I know how the lack of divided rooms affects you.”
Ah, so he knew.
“Thank you, Four. I don’t know why I’m so squeamish around large, vast spaces and not with tight spaces. It’s usually the opposite for people.”
He nods. You both unpack your belongings, Four placing his and your packs under the bed, away from prying eyes. You fidgeted with the necklace he made you, feeling yourself zoning out.
“You two good? Dinner’s almost ready!” Wars yells out to you both from the entrance. Four smiles, and you two walk out the inn towards the small campfire Wild made.
“If you start kicking me at night, I’m kicking you off the bed.” Legend says to Wind.
“I don’t kick!!” he exclaims, throwing his arms up.
“I’ve slept right next to you plenty of times to know you do fuckin’ combat in your dreams.” Vet mumbles, eyes briefly glancing at you.
You sit down on the ground, leaning against Sky. God, you were tired. Sky leaned over you, “How are you, Dove?”
You just groan, leaning against his leg.
“Yeah, same.”
You shiver again. Sky looks at you, then reaches behind him, grabbing a blanket. Where did he get that?
Leaning over you, he drapes it over you, tucking you in. You beam at him, “You’re so sweet, thank you Sky.”
Leaning against his leg, he absentmindedly brushes through your locks while you look into the fire. Wild gives you a smile as he tosses a few mushrooms in and a few dashes of goron spice.
You look to your left, Legend’s eyes on yours. He looks exhausted.
You glance back at the fire, feeling a blush creeping in at the attention from him.
“You excited to head into Gerudo Town tomorrow?” Wild asks, still stirring the pot.
“Yeah! I haven’t had the chance to meet Riju yet. I also can’t wait to finally try the Hydromelons, you keep goin’ on and on about them.” you smile.
Wild chuckles, “They’re delicious and beneficial, especially for the heat during the day. I even have a spare Vai outfit for you, so you shouldn’t struggle as much. I’ll give it to you after supper if I remember to.”
You nod. You don’t really pay attention to the rest of the conversation, no one bothering to bring you out of your daze.
~
Considering how exhausted you felt just over an hour ago, you were awake as can be in bed. You tossed and turned for what felt like hours, trying to find the right spot to doze off in. Four was out the second he hit the pillow.
Sighing heavily, you sit up and hop off the bed, walking towards the entrance of the inn. The lights were barely on at this point in the night, but you could make out the sleeping forms of the heroes as you passed by them. You grabbed a spare blanket from on top of one of the crates in the in and wore it like a cape, walking over to the small fire. You were surprised to find Legend sitting on a log, staring into the fire. He looked up when he heard your footsteps, eyes widening the slightest bit at the recognition of your face.
“Couldn’t sleep.” you mumbled, sitting a few feet away from him. He doesn’t respond, continuing to stare at the fire.
The silence is awkward.
“You look tired. You should sleep.” you say cautiously, not wanting to start conflict.
“‘m not. Can’t sleep anyways.” he mumbles.
Another moment of silence passes.
“Did I do something?” you ask, voice small.
He still doesn’t say anything. You were getting on edge, this wasn’t like him. He’s snarky, quick to talk back.
“What’s going on with you? A few days ago you were teasing me and goofing off with Wind and now you barely say a word, if that. If it’s something I said or did-”
“You didn’t do anything, Y/n.”
“You say that but you still won’t even look at me or talk to me. What are you so afraid of-”
“For the love of- Stop. Fucking stop. You don’t know me, stop trying to act like you care.”
“Excuse me?”
He finally looks at you, eyebrows furrowed and knuckles white on his knees, weeping to be relaxed and unclenched. He looked angry, scared, betrayed, horrified.
“I see how you look at me, full of pity and sadness, like I’m some fucking charity case to you. You think you may know all about my past, just because you’re our-my guide, but you don’t. You can’t even begin to imagine what I feel. What I have to be reminded of every time I close my eyes.”
“Link I don’t pity you and I have never pretended to know exactly what you went through. I know I was there, but I also know I don’t know what it was like for you and how it affected you.”
“I see how you are with the others. Time? Twilight? They look at you in ways I’ve never seen them look at someone. Hell, everyone looks at you like you’re some goddess descended upon Hyrule. I fucking- I can’t stand it.”
“I-”
“I don’t even know why you’re with us, Y/n. Why the fuck are you here, dealing with this prophecy cult bullshit? You could’ve avoided this if you weren’t stupid-”
“I NEVER FUCKING ASKED TO BE HERE.”
He seemed to shut up at your exclamation.
You took a shaky breath, already feeling the tears spilling from your eyes.
“You think I asked to be dragged through a portal, possibly never being able to come home? You think I fucking wanted this? I never wanted to become some ‘guide’ or ‘goddess’ as you put it. I’m just a nobody, a fucking girl that’s depressed and found comfort in characters that she could relate to, but I guess I was wrong. I can’t relate at all. To you, to Time, to any of you. I’m just some sorry excuse of a guide that’s scared of being alone and left behind.”
You were sobbing at this point, snot running down your chin, the tears clouding up your vision in front of you.
“I’m sorry I’ll leav-”
“Please don’t go. I need you, Link.”
Legend paused at that, processing your words.
“Ok. I’ll stay.”
You cautiously cuddled into his side, panting for air from your panic attack.
You needed him.
“I need you too, Mouse.”
You looked up at him at the mention of your nickname. His eyes were bloodshot, as if he had been crying for days on end. He wiped your tears away with his thumb, eyes not leaving your face.
“Kiss me, Link.”
And he did.
Legend groaned slightly into your mouth, causing you to gasp. He took it as an invitation to run his tongue along yours, your tears still running into your mouth, making your lips taste salty. He ran his callosed hands down your back and pulled you in closer, as if he was afraid this was a dream and you’ll leave him.
Just when you thought he was done, he pulled you onto his lap, blanket falling off your shoulders onto a heap on the ground. He moaned into your lips, making you press yourself against him, chest to chest. You wanted, needed more.
“More, Link-ah.” you whined.
He seemed to slow at your whining, coming back to reality. He sighed, placing his forehead against yours.
“I want to, Mousey. Trust me, I do, I just… someone might walk out here.”
You groan into his shoulder, but he was right. It was too risky.
He lifts your face off of his shoulder, tilting your chin up “But once we have some privacy I’ll give you more, ok? I promise.”
You flush at his words, knowing what he was insinuating.
“We should go in, before someone starts panicking. Would you… want to sleep next to me?” he asks, the tips of his ears bright pink. You nod, picking up the blanket from the ground. You suddenly felt very sleepy.
Following Legend back into the inn, you noticed Wind had fallen off the bed and made his way into Four’s bed, which seemed all a little too convinient for your current situation, but you were too tired to care.
You flopped into bed, and Legend followed suit, stripping his sheath and outer tunic before cuddling up to you. He placed a kiss on your forehead before whispering, “Goodnight, my little mouse.”
~
“Rise and shine fuckers!!”
You groan into your… pillow? That’s weird, when did it become so firm-oh. Oh.
The “pillow” groaned, rubbing his face with his hands. His pink hair was all over the place, under eyes still as droopy as ever. Yawning, he looked down at you with a sleepy smile.
“Guessin’ you slept well?”
“Huh?”
“You drooled all over me.”
“Oh, grossss. I’m so sorry Leg-”
“Don’t worry about it, I got another tunic in my pack.”
You stop to look at him. Really look at him. You haven’t had a moment like this with him… ever. He looked so happy, eyes crinkling in the corners, half unbuttoned tunic, hair messy from sleep. You wanted to see him happy. All of them, happy.
“Alright, love birds! Breakfast and out let’s go, let’s go!” Wind yelled again, clapping his hands.
You both rolled your eyes, begrudgingly getting out of bed. You pulled your tunic on, lacing it up in the back. You looked up while lacing to see him staring at you. He gave you a wink and went back to getting dressed as if it was another day on the job.
How the hell is he so casual about this?
You didn’t have time to dwell as Wild’s cooking snapped you out of your daze, bringing you outside to the same pot you and Legend were sitting at just a few hours ago. Legend was alreadyeating, looking up at you mid-bite for a moment before continuing to eat.
You sit in between Four and Warriors, Wild handing you a plate before you sat down.
Before you had a chance to take a bite, Wars asked “Where’d you and the Vet go last night?”
Shit, was he awake that entire time?
“We both couldn’t sleep, just sat by the fire for a bit.”
“Chat about anything?”
You narrowed your eyes.
What the hell was he getting at?
“Just… stuff. What are-” “Jeez Cap, leave her alone, would ya?” Vet snaps, already back to his typical snarky self. You mouth a ‘thanks’ to him, finally able to dig into your food. A few of the others exchange looks, curious about the sudden defensiveness Vet had over you.
You’d have to clear things up with Wars later, as Wild was ushring you back into the inn the second you finished chewing your last bite of food, needing to get you changed into more appropriate clothing.
“I managed to buy another vai outfit a few months back, I hope you like red.”
Wild hands you a bundle of soft red fabric, embroidered with silky golden thread and lace trim. Jesus, this looked expensive.
“Wild, you sure? This looks really expensive.”
“It really wasn’t, trust me. Now come on, we gotta get dressed and head out, Riju is expecting us.”
You nodded, already starting to strip your outer layers while Wild went outside to change. Thankfully, nobody was inside the inn so you could change quickly and quietly without any prying eyes. You catch a mirror in the far corner of the inn, deciding to take a quick once-over before you go out, and check on your healing back.
You turn around and your breath hitches.
Your wounds are completely gone.
