Rich in it’s architecture and carried the legacy of style and culture in its original form till date. This structure here is called Rumi Darwaza ... Rumi means Muslim philosopher a Sufi mystical saint. This Turkish gaye has very unique feature in its appearance from both the sides. Example of Awadhi architecture and is models after Sublime Porte (Bab ihumayun) in Istambul. Gate is 60ft tall named after Jalad -ad-din Mohammad Rumi after 13th century, built for a noble cause. In 1748 North India, particularly Awadh, was facing the scarcity of food and employement and survival of most of the polpulation was at stake. To help people overcome this Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula decided to build the Bara Imambara along with Rumi Darwaza for employment generation. Over the next two years these illustrious buildings were constructed and is now there for everyone to see. This building symbolises labour of love i.e. was constructed for pleasure and for not reward. Day 16, Turkey 🇹🇷 Today was spent at the beach. End of story. 🏖 Well not entirely, the day was dominated by swimming and the quest for tan lines. Did I get some? Maybe. If you think the tower looks extremely wonky in the picture you’d be surprised how much wonkier it looks in real life. But I’ve seen a very “heavy” lifeguard climb it and survive.
