This is Caduceus Clay in the style of jianzhi, a.k.a. Chinese paper cutting, as part of the @artists-guild-of-exandria Art History Style Swap! (Go to their blog and check out all the others, since everyone had such fun ideas for this one!!)
It was so cool to have to think differently about positive and negative space to make sure that (1) the image reads correctly, AND (2) there weren't any unsupported floating bits.
(I did actually print and cut this out, but I couldn't get the scanner to work in time to share that version. Maybe in the future?)

The earl lifted his gaze from the depths of his work, which took the form of papers strewn across his desk—abandoned after Ciel decided reading for leisure was far more interesting than tenant ledgers. Frowning at his butler, the book snapped closed as he reclined into his chair.
"You should know better than anyone that I am too familiar with sleepless nights," Ciel sighed. "Although, it seems I've lost track of time, and my eyes have become altogether useless. Take me to bed, will you?"

I’ve never done reenactment in my life. But suddenly my email about wondering if I could help out at all at the next event now includes a tent, what I need to bring in terms of plates, bed, cutlery, etc and I’m just like. I don’t object, but also. I have literally never been camping unless you count sleeping in the boot of a car when I was 11.
#the devil works fast but reenactment organisers work faster#WHERE DO I GET A BED IN THE NEXT 9 HOURS#I’m excited but also WOEFULLY underprepared#:’)#I can FEEL the deep rooted embarrassment seeping in already#if I somehow fuck up im never gonna show my face again.#thankfully most of the group lives upcountry :’)#still#I can just FEEL the shame and embarrassment settling in#also I don’t have money! how am I gonna pay#h e l p#reenactment ppl on here got any advice?#my plan was to join up once I had more than 1 months rent in my bank account lol#so I definitely WANT to try this but. :’)#I’m sure it’ll be fine and fun.
