Why Covid Has Been Bungled

How can we expect people to accurately assess their Covid risk when they don’t understand such basic information? Public health like the @CDCgov has failed so spectacularly during this pandemic I sometimes marvel at how badly this has been bungled – Ellison Cooper PhD via @Twitter

The UK government aren’t talking about the virus now. It’s as if the virus doesn’t exist, and with new cases rising in the UK, in the winter months those cases will continue to increase, they’re increasing now.

In the early days of the pandemic, I struggled to understand or connect with the science. I’m not sure whether that was because I didn’t understand the science, because they were speaking a different language, but whatever that was, it was important the wider public understood.

I write the facts and that doesn’t go down well and aren’t always accepted, but that will always depend on what you want to hear, or what fits your purpose, but according to Ellison’s Cooper’s tweets, this was a ‘train crash’ waiting to happen. The biggest train crash is governments putting the economy first. Being vulnerable and high risk, I am now four-walled as a result of all precautionary measures being lifted. I’m struggling to get my head around that.

And whilst there is no mask or testing mandate anymore, governments are sitting back and playing ‘Russian roulette’ with people’s lives, playing no part in trying to reduce Covid, or to keep us safe, and with the vulnerable and disabled still hemmed in or locked up, cases are still rising in the UK, which shows it hasn’t gone, with new cases showing up in Bristol.

In the winter months, we will start to play catch up again. Perhaps we’re not caring now because we want a life, but it’s not how that will work in the longer term. Therefore, it would be prudent to change tack on our understanding and deal with what we know, moving forward.

Whilst the virus is on the prowl again and it’s clear it hasn’t gone, wouldn’t it be better to continue to take the necessary precautions so that we all stay safe and for those like me in their homes, we can get into our lives also.
