[STARTER CALL] for @teenagedkraken
taken from: until dawn sentence starters
Tumblr media
❛  well, that certainly didn’t go according to plan, did it?  ❜ Thor at least has the decency to look away from Ruby, embarrassed as he stares at the now completely pitch-black library. He was trying to do the owner a favor and help bring the power back on by charging up their generator, but instead, he accidentally overloaded the circuit, causing it to explode.

My Legends Arceus fic featuring my Legends OC has me in a straggle hold in the worst way! So instead I’m just gonna throw tidbits about what happens on here and see what happens.
Koume is a Pokémon breeder from Goldenrod City, Johto, but now lives in Motostoke, Galar and works at the Pokémon Nursery in the Wild Area.
Was raised by her Aunt Sagi and Uncle Tarou alongside her younger twin cousins Takumi and Takuma
Would visit the shrine dedicated to Celebi in Ilex Forest often when she lived in Johto, now has a miniature shrine in her home in Galar to continue honoring the Pokémon.
Cyndaquil was the starter she chose and nicknamed Ignacio.
Took multiple dance, music, and battling lessons from the geishas in Ecruteak City Dance Hall when she was a child before beginning her journey
Took part in both the Silver League and the Indigo League and received all 16 badges and took on the Elite Four, but never challenged the Champion
Koume only carries three Pokémon as an adult. Those Pokémon are also her only three shinies; Angel (Togekiss), Houdini (Alakazam), and Thor (Raichu)
Fast forward. When Koume finds herself in Hisui she has even worse amnesia than Ingo since she can’t even remember her own name, later when the Diamond Clan takes her in, Sabi gives her the name Rakka and becomes extremely fond of her.
Rakka/Koume spends most of her time in the Crimson Mirelands with her three partners: Button (Alpha Teddiursa), Zipper (Basculin), and Velcro (Sliggoo)
Good friends with Warden Ingo and began picking up his train lexicon to the dismay of everyone, but mostly Warden Melli
Ingo has shared what little memory he has of Before Hisui, unfortunately Rakka/Koume's memories are completely withheld from her until encountering Akari/Dawn for the first time which begins triggering her memories returning slowly
Is constantly told to stop wasting time by fellow Diamond Clan members, she always tells them that "time well spent is not time wasted."
Cried for an unknown reason upon meeting Akari/Dawn's Typhlosion after it evolved from Quilava after the quelling of Lady Lilligent. The Typhlosion seems to sense why she hurts when looking at him and is extremely affectionate to Rakka/Koume whenever Akari/Dawn visits her from then on
Rakka/Koume attempted to quell Lord Electrode herself before Akari ever reached Moonview Arena to save the girl the trouble of yet another frenzied Noble.
She fails to quell the Noble and takes 3 electro balls to the back before Button (an Alpha Ursaluna at this point) drags Rakka/Koume to safety. She later wakes up with an ugly new scar covering her back (luckily not dead or permanently paralyzed) and Akari/Dawn having done what she had failed to do by quelling Lord Electrode's frenzy.
Fast forwarding to post-post-game territory. Koume, Ingo, and Dawn find a tunnel thanks to Celebi that leads them all in. Halfway through the tunnel old railroad tracks are found leading out to the other side, once out of the tunnel all three find themselves back in modern day Sinnoh.
Now for the fun part that I'm too lazy to wait for right now. So a paradox is created when Celebi finally finds Koume and returns her, Ingo, and Dawn back to modern day. Since the things the three did (and will do) in their time in Hisui was inpactful and irrefutablely necessary for the timeline to continue on like it was meant to, Celebi could not simply pluck them from the past and return them to the present without consequence, so they split the timeline creating a paradox of sorts.
At some point the three stumble upon their own graves at various locations during their journey to gain the remained of their memories and hopefully find someone that can help them reconnect with their old lives. Koume's withered headstone is located in what is now Solaceon Town. Ingo's final resting place is in Celestic Town. Snowpoint City is where Dawn's honored grave lies.
Each burial place is inhabited by Hisuian Pokemon, Koume - Teddiursa, Ursaring, and one lone Ursaluna, Ingo - Hisuian Sneasel and a few Sneasler, and Dawn - Hisuian Zorua and a single Zoruark
The Unfinished Train Tunnel that brought the three back to modern day is a bridge between space and time and unlike the distortions, is stable and permanent. Koume, Ingo, and Dawn are the only ones capable of accessing this bridge however. (The Bone-Eater's Well from Inuyasha for example)
Now I want to give Koume an almost lover in modern time that she only vaguely remembers once her memories start returning. I'm just unsure as to who I want it to be, I just know I don't want it to be Ingo since I already have a plan for their friendship in Hisui and the friendship they later remember from before Hisui. I know this whole thing is just word vomit but I had to get it out so I could try and write it down in a way that is more story and less random thought nuggets. I'm just so jealous of everyone who can churn out all these compelling multi chapter fics of their own OCs in Hisui

LE BIEN QUI FAIT MAL

Tumblr media
Svartalfheim. One of the Nine, enemy of Asgard- well all the other realms too if one considered it- and Thor from the Avengers. Lise idly flicked his tongue against the smooth ivory of his fang, arms folded as he checked out the large banquet hall following the rumbling crowd rolling in. Dressed in all white, with only a sleeveless denim vest, leather belt, skinny jeans and pair of silver scaled leather dress shoes, the fox with his white combed back hair, ears and lush tails was a jarring spot of white among the other colleagues - though he was not the only one in such an eye-catching colour. After all, a suit of such taunting purity is too tempting to resist.
Cold silver eyes slowly swept past the already seated elves, noting their differences from the servants leading the group he followed to one of the many seats arranged. Lise dropped down into it without ceremony, a foot raised on the seat with his arm draped atop that knee. It was a graceless position, but like with so many others of the same nature, the wild arrogance it exuded overwhelmed its flaws. While there were those as careless as him, most maintained a semblance of etiquette and a number even scoffed and condemned such lack of courtesy.
Lise rolled his eyes. Despite having spent less than a handful of Midgardian years in the underground society, he had seen enough to know that such niceties barely sufficed as foreplay for their lot. To him, it was a waste of time to pretend being on a high horse when everyone around were smeared in the same mud. His thoughts brushed past distasteful memories, ‘realities’ made by humans which he had long left. What use was therapy when he could stop playing those mortals’ games all together?
Loud music then ushered in their host in glamorous introduction, launching into a welcome speech actually appreciated by the audience before the revelry began. As soon as liquid gold flowed, the beasts emerged from behind their well mannered muzzles and clashes of weapons, fists and genitals replaced the cordial banquet before.
The fox was no exception. What caught his eye the most were the sword dancers, almost nude elves with fine musculature swerving their hips and blades among the crowd. It was thrilling to see that not many were their match. So he went forth, engaging one of them with his opal claws.
Faint lines of red decorated his body as his claws caressed their blades, adding a devilish allure to match his intoxicated expression. His vest had been cut open, baring his chest and his belt too was lost. But his partner was no better off, what shreds of cloth they had on long gone, dark skin gleaming with more and more blood the closer and closer Lise tightened their battle.
Just as he spun to the dancer’s back, a claw hooking a blade along and the other hand taking opportunity to tease their hips with all five sharp tips, his eyes caught sight of a pair of dark eyes steadily gazing at himself. They belonged to a high ranking elf, seemingly more matured than the few he had come in contact with dancing, sitting calmly like an oasis among all the debauchery around him. So high and aloof, as if an unobtainable treasure just for him. Unable to take his eyes off the elf, he fought distractedly, earning himself a few new cuts while depending on his other senses, going round and round, trying to get closer.
His partner naturally noticed. But as if in favour of the elf staring at him, the dancer gave way to find some other fun instead, leaving Lise to take that final step to the table of those black eyes. Clawed hands and a knee braced themselves, clacking on the wood as Lise lowered to bring his face a mere breath away from the elf’s. Silver eyes traced those fine features to those lips, feeling his heart beat strongly and painfully in his chest. His ear flicked at the sounds of lust nearby, sending a thrill different from battle down to his groin. Parting his own pink lips, a whisper slipped free. “Kiss me?”

Algrimthestrong:
The banquet was a grand and lavish affair, an opulent event staged to showcase the realm’s wealth and power, to attract the powerful and the ambitious. Many had answered the summons of the Accursed, some driven by greed, others by fear, yet all were possessed of the desire to join sides with Svartalfheim’s king, for the choices available were limited - to align with Malekith’s forces or to fall before his army as the dark elves continued to set Yggdrasil ablaze with war. It was a colourful potpourri of beings gathered in the feasting hall, deadly and exotic as they mingled with the natives, flaunting weapons and natural assets alike, each of them trying to catch the eye of their host, to find favour with the Accursed in hopes of joining his ranks.
Seated at the far end of a long, sumptuously set table, Algrim watched the goings-on around him with impassive eyes, the expression of a man long since accustomed to such events to feel much of a response. On Svartalfheim, war, bloodshed, and torture were as commonplace as the people revelling in it; the banquet, however, added a sensual twist to it that catered to his kinsfolk’s taste for depravity.
It was rare for the stoic counsellor to indulge himself in anything, be it a moment of leisure or a treat for the senses. Since the death of his wife, physical companionship had had no place in Algrim’s life. Too vast was the void left by his slaughtered lover, too great his loss, and though the widowed elf was not wholly immune to the occasional pull of physical desire, such needs were taken care of quietly and discreetly in the privacy of his chamber. His brethren’s lust for public excess he did not share.
As soon as the official part of the evening had ended, the atmosphere shifted, and with the shedding of formalities it was the clash of weapons and the groans of pleasure that took the place of solemn ceremony and disciplined conversation as the festivities rapidly turned into a cesspool of violence and decadence.
Calm and dignified, Algrim sat amidst the wild gathering, an island of virtue in a sea of vices. It was then that his wandering gaze caught that of a man – a fox – pale as snow, lithe and agile, his tails billowing behind him as he engaged his opponent in a graceful dance of blades and claws. Intrigued, he looked on, pleased to discover that the fox held his ground fairly well against his elven combatant.
Sweat glistened on ivory skin, mingling with the blood that seeped from various cuts crisscrossing his arms and torso. The pair’s battle was almost hypnotic to watch, the sleek ripple of muscles, the gleam of elven steel and opal claws captivating his attention, leaving him unable to pry his gaze away from the sensual spectacle. It was almost as if the magnificent creature had intended the performance only for him…
Soon enough, the stranger abandoned his opponent and, to Algrim’s great surprise – or rather, shock – turned towards him with obvious intent. Algrim swallowed, the movement visible in the slender column of his throat as he peered up into those silver eyes. He frowned to himself for a moment, his brow bunching in confusion before smoothing again as he seemed to come to a decision. For the blink of an eye, he had felt strangely tempted to yield to the younger’s bold request, to succumb to the fox’s allure and let his lips close the distance between them, but the impulse had been fleeting and was quashed by reason before it could simmer for too long.
Shaking his head, Algrim’s lips curved into a thin, tight smile. “The majority of my people may find it acceptable to abandon decency and dignity to unrestrained fornication, but I have no desire to engage in such… libertine acts, shall we say?”
The fox had not even started using his own charms when he caught that moment of desire from the other. Heat still danced upon his skin and fickle breaths through his lips from the exercise he got earlier, as Lise watched the swift withdrawal in those eyes and thin, tight lips. Having previously lowered himself both to meet the elf eye to eye as well as to appeal with submissiveness, his shoulders now rose and straightened himself on his arms for a better view. Boldly noting once more that restrained appearance from head to where the table covered the other, Lise gave his lips a quick lick to still his lust.
“Certainly you don’t look like the licentious lot, but to speak of morals and decency here...” Arching his body flauntingly whilst he gestured at the crowd around them with one of his hands, Lise continued his persuasion, swaying his tails slowly from side to side behind him. Pearls of blood continued their trail down the soft indent of his abdomen, bringing focus to the teasing red lines crossing his torso. Already healing, their scarlet hues were visibly turning deep crimson.
Meeting those eyes, his lips curved into a sensual smirk as his elbow bent and he dipped back down once more. “Besides, I am only... asking for a kiss?” Batting his white lashes at the elf, Lise lowered his tails to a deep swish instead and turned his pricked ears downward, eyes falling once more on those pursed lips.
It was as if he only cared for the other’s response, entering that bubble of ‘virtue’ and cutting out the debauchery around them. Their little encounter did not go unnoticed by the others nearby, though the lack of action only brought a few curious glances.

“ Do you have a better plan? “
Thor Ragnarok Sentence Starters (accepting.)
does he? ❛do i?❜ the tone of his voice sounds more knowing than questioning, allowing a small silence to fall over them afterwards. when it came to brutal strength and determination, loki was no fool to dare question who held it-- but by the gods, his brother was without a brain and therefore he had to be the one concocting ( or scheming as thor called it. ) plans to keep them both safe. and something tells him this encounter won’t be any different on a planet with creatures hellbent on tearing the door down in front of them. leave it to thor to piss off the locals.

simple as it may seem, whatever they faced was unknown and getting into a brawl could be unwise. head cants towards the blonde, voice stable and calm despite their current predicament. ❛the hall is not confined and has one room to our left we can hide in while my illusion lead them on a wild goose chase. i assume that would give us enough time to sneak around to the front, so long as you’re quiet.❜

2019 Volvo XC40 First Drive Review: Redheaded Stepchild
Volvo’s three SUVs are all similarly dressed and obviously related, but line them all up, and the new little 2019 XC40 kind of stands out like a brutha-from-anutha-mutha. Like maybe dad stepped out on the XC60 and XC90’s handsome blonde mom and knocked up a vixen from the other side of the tracks. Short overhangs push the wheels to the corners, the beltline swoops up into a blind-spot-inducing C-pillar, the other vehicles’ LED headlight hammers morph into Thor’s divining rods here, and the XC40 wears the XC90’s grille inside out. It is designed so that you can assign digital keys to the smart phones of family members, loved ones (or perhaps the occasional renter) for car sharing. And the XC40 won’t force you into an arranged marriage involving laborious purchase or lease negotiations with a dealer. You can effectively “swipe right” on an app and hook up with one for as little as a year (learn about Care by Volvo below).
BLACKTOP R-Design models all get a black roof and roof rails, grille, mirrors, and an embossed black R-Design logo on the C-pillar. Momentum trim levels can have a white top for $300.
All of this is carefully planned to steer upscale millennial buyers away from the established players and into Volvo’s open embrace. As the first product on the Geely group’s new CMA small-car platform, the first 40-series car Volvo has offered on a global basis, and the brand’s first entry in the fast-growing premium compact CUV space, expectations for the XC40 are pretty high. So is the body (Volvo asserts best-in-class ground clearance and height) and the equipment specification, with the safety gear list mostly identical to an XC90’s—Pilot Assist (adaptive cruise and lane-centering), City Safety, run-off-road protection and mitigation, cross traffic alert with brake support, and a 360-degree camera system to help drivers maneuver their car into tight parking spaces. To assess its chances of success, we channeled our inner entitled, lazy, selfie-snapper and headed to Barcelona to sample what might be the most youthful Volvo since the 1957 P1900 roadster.
The only trim level available for test-driving was the range-topping T5 AWD R-Design, and we gravitated to a white one with the “molten lava” orange carpet and door insert trim (a $100 option on R-Design models only). As with the exterior, the XC40’s Sensus vertical iPad-like infotainment screen, A/C vent design, gauges, and fonts say Volvo, but the lack of a woodgrain trim option and the techie metal trim—not to mention that bright orange carpet—all reflect Volvo’s desire to lure the youth. Nothing’s getting lost on this floor or in the gigantic door storage pockets, which benefit from ditching the bass speakers from the lower door trim and replacing them with a single big bass speaker mounted to the firewall just under where the right wiper parks. The interior bristles with clever storage solutions. There’s a retractable hook above the glove box described as a place to hang carryout food bags (an owner’s mom could hang her purse there, too). A console trash bin with a lid comes out for easy emptying, and Volvo introduces its first wireless phone-charging doc in the console. The rear cargo floor folds to form a divider, with three hinge points that serve as bag hooks (another pair of bag hooks flank the cargo area for when the floor is left flat). We also like the rigid cargo cover that stows beneath the floor when carrying taller items.
XC40 T5 models are powered by a 2.0-liter turbo that’s rated for 248 hp at 5,500 rpm and 258 lb-ft between 1,800-4,800 rpm. The engines in the senior XC T5s make two more horses and reach peak torque 300 rpm earlier. A T4 front-drive base model will trail the T5 to market, outfitted with a smaller turbocharger producing 14.3 pounds of boost (down from the T5’s 20.0), so output peaks at 185 hp and roughly 195 lb-ft (full specs are not yet available). In other markets, the XC40 will introduce Volvo’s forthcoming I-3 engine making 150 hp and 207 lb-ft, and we could yet see hybrid and/or fully electric variants. The XC40 uses its elder siblings’ eight-speed automatic, ratios and all.
The all-new CMA platform employs struts in front and a fully isolated four-link rear suspension. Base cars get twin-tube shocks, the optional sport suspension (standard on R-Design) gets fancier mono-tube shocks with stiffer damping and spring rates, and an optional Four-C suspension will eventually be available with continuously controlled damping courtesy of Tenneco valves on Öhlins dampers. In another departure from SPA practice, the electric power steering system’s electric motor moves the steering rack via a second pinion instead of via parallel belt-drive and worm gears. The effort map looks like a deep notch, ramping up quickly just off center in each direction. Base cars get 18-inch wheels, 19s and 20s are optional, all shod in all-season tires for the U.S. There’s a 21-inch accessory wheel that gets summer tires.
FLAGGED The first 5,000 XC40s will feature this little rubberized Swedish flag, adhered to the clamshell hood on the driver’s side and echoing the cloth one that’s been affixed to Volvo seats for years.
So how does it feel, zipping around the twisting Catalonian roads below Montserat? Compared with an XC60 T6 AWD sampled on these very same roads in May, it’s considerably lighter, more compact, and nimbler. Volvo estimates our XC40 will hit 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, and indeed it feels nearly as quick as our last XC60 T6, which hit 60 in 6.1 seconds. Clearly trimming 600 pounds is roughly equivalent to adding a supercharger, as our XC40’s engine is towing just a fraction of a pound-per-horsepower more weight than its big stepbrother. Bury the throttle to pass a slow-moving local, and revs build quickly and class-competitively, but we wish the engineers had better differentiated this engine’s sound signature. When it’s on the boil, it has the exact same angry-horseflies buzz one hears in the big-boy XCs. Oh well, crank up the Harman Kardon jams.
As in 60- and 90-series Volvos, the driver can select between Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-road, and Individual driving modes that tailor the throttle and transmission response, brake and steering feel, all-wheel-drive torque bias, and damping level (when so equipped). Sadly, XC40s trade the console-mounted diamond-milled rotary push knob for a plain black button on the center stack. Dynamic mode brightens up throttle response and sharpens transmission logic quite noticeably, but any variation in steering or brake feel were too subtle to notice on this drive. At one point an aggressively driven older VW GTI gave chase, and we were impressed by the flat cornering and high levels of grip afforded by the R-Design’s standard sport suspension. Of course our Euro-spec cars were shod in optional 20-inch Pirelli P Zero summer rubber. America gets standard all-season fitments, so we should expect more tire squeal and fewer cornering gs. None of the bumps we encountered with these sport suspenders threatened to knock passengers’ phones from their hands. If our drive raised one caution it’s on the fuel economy front. If the computer’s self-reporting is to be believed, we managed just 22 mpg over 180 miles or so, probably half of which was gentler highway cruising.
Customer deliveries are expected in the second quarter of 2018. Before then we’ll ask our own millennial staffers to rank this wild Swede amongst its Eurasian peers, the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Infiniti QX30, and Mercedes GLA-Class. Their eagerness to assume the task might be our first clue to the vehicle’s success.
NORWEGIAN WOULD? The interior manages Scandinavian sleekness without wood. It looks upscale despite conventional starter and mode-select buttons. The by-wire shifter requires two taps forward or backward to engage R or D as in T8 Volvos.
Care by Volvo—Netflix for Premium CUVs
Today’s harried millennial has no appetite for the hassle of dickering to buy or lease a vehicle, cross-shopping insurance, contemplating maintenance plans, etc. He or she just wants to pick the colors, twiddle a smartphone screen, and drive off. That’s all it takes to download a movie or TV series from Netflix or Amazon, and now as little as 10 minutes of phone-fiddling can also “download” a nice Volvo XC40 (T5 AWD Momentum trim with five popular options) for $600/month or a nicer Volvo XC40 (loaded R Design) for $700. During that time, Care partner Liberty Mutual Insurance assesses your risk profile and either accepts or declines you for its $500-deductible standard insurance plan—there’s no discounting or surcharging based on your location or driving record. The contract is for two years at 15,000 miles per year, but after just 12 months the car can be swapped for another one by signing a new 24-month contract. These mono-spec cars will be stocked and distributed by Volvo and delivered and serviced by local dealers. All the subscriber pays for is gas and local taxes/fees (this is an ownership model, not a rental model like Cadillac’s Maven). The first Care subscriptions will be offered in March, selling on convenience, not lower overall costs.
