Everyone saying that "we got confirmation that Kathleen/Celia is trans in foul lady fortune" clearly did not read the other two books very carefully because its explicitly stated in the very early chapters of these violent delights that Celia was born a male but was a girl. One of the first descriptions of her is of her jade pendent hiding her adams apple. Also, anyone still calling Celia 'Kathleen/Celia' is wrong. Her name is Celia. She hasn't been pretending to be Kathleen since before she joined the communists.
If you've finished Foul Lady Fortune and you're still referring to her as 'Kathleen/Celia' it's bordering on transphobic. I think it is mentioned 3 times (?) that she used to go my Kathleen and two of them were in the early book by Celia herself. Once when she was reflecting on her past, the second when her pendent came loose and Oliver fixed it.
The third time was by Rosalind and what actually happens is that she says "it had been a while since she had thought about Kathleen, the real Kathleen, the real Kathleen who hadn't reached her 15th birthday" or something along those lines
Other than that Celia is only ever referred to as Celia. Never Kathleen.
Her name is Celia. Not Kathleen. Use the right name for gods sake

Chapter 22
“Other merchants spread the word that there was money from the Larkspur for whoever killed Juliette Cai or Roma Montagov,” the man stammered.
[...]
“You know”—Roma dragged his eyes up from the body—“that he got pulled into this. He didn’t choose it like we did.”
Literally not one single person forced the man to chase after the heirs of two gangs. Try again.
Absently, she used her other hand to wipe at a damp feeling on her neck, wondering if she had, in fact, also acquired blood splatter on herself without noticing. Roma nodded. “Let’s go.”
Chapter 22 summary: Juliette sits in the club and drinks, in order to establish an alibi for her going to meet Roma later. She talks to Rose some, but I legit don’t give a fuck. Rose is barely a character.
Then, we jump over to Ben and Marshal talking about how weird it is that they keep ending up in the same place as Scarlets. They do have spies in Scarlet, sure. But not to this extent. I continue to not give a shit about this.
When Juliette meets up with Roma, he tells her that she has a tail. He identifies the man as being British. He commands Juliette to undo her coat and pretend to hug him, and he shoots the man on the street, in front of dozens of witnesses.
The two of them take off, dodging a couple others who are working with the man. They take out one, and then incidentally lure the other two into the dressing room of a nearby theater. There, Roma knocks one out, while Juliette confronts the other. The man says that Larkspur is offering to pay a handsome reward for whoever kills Juliette and Roma. Juliette kills the man so that he can’t carry back the message that Juliette and Roma are working together. They then agree that they must be getting closer if Larkspur is getting this panicked.
Chapter 23
“Helps prevent contamination to us,” Marshall explained. He grabbed her legs, taking on some of the burden. “Now, let’s move. Lourens is probably closing up.”
Chapter 23 summary: Roma and Juliette had found a flyer for the Larkspur on one of the dead guys, so they went to the address. There, Juliette knocks out a guard so that they don’t have to wait in the line, and go to a room with two French people doing stuff with vials. While Juliette distracts them, Roma takes some of the vials, and then they flee.
Then we jump over to Ben and Marshal and witness as they knock out and kidnap a random woman off the street because they think she has the start of the madness. I’m going to repeat an important part: they THINK she has the start of the madness, but have no way to confirm.

Bonus/Special/Extra chapters of some of my favorite books/series.
As most of my favorite series or books are getting a lot of bonus chapters but most of the time they are only available in certain special editions which is a true menace and impossible to get hands-on globally, I'm making a guide for the chapters as I've found a lot of helpful Tumblr users/readers already posted them in the internet. So I'll collect them, make a thorough list, and keep editing them if any new material is released. Feel free to comment if you want to add anything or let me know about any other series. I'm keeping the list under the cut to avoid spoilers for those who want to avoid them.

Klaroline Fic Rec
For @klarolineauseason Week 1 - Canon!
Wolf Club by Radioactive59
Summary: When Stefan kills Ray Sutton, a child is left behind, a precocious eight-year-old werewolf named Grace. Klaus, in a rare moment of hospitality, takes her under his wing and decides to raise her as a Mikaelson. Antics ensue. And against all odds, Caroline finds that she wants to dance with a different pack of wolves.
Tumblr media
Why you should read this story:
I realize this story is not going to be for everyone. At first glance, it wasn't for me either. It has an OC as a main character. Said OC is a child, and the whole story is told through her POV. If those are things you're not used to reading, I get it. I don't either. But hear me out.
I was completely enraptured with this fic right from the start. Grace is the daughter of Ray Sutton, who you might know as Klaus' first hybrid experience, when he's on the road with Stefan. After killing her father and carrying her around for a bit, unsure of where to dump her and having Stefan there to stay his hand, Klaus finds himself strangely fascinated by Gracie, and thus he keeps her as a mini side-kick (actually - he first keeps her a pet to appease Rebekah's mood after he undaggers her, which - very on brand for Klaus, tbh), because of course he has no concept of a child's needs. But this story is not about Klaus.
Grace is a delight! She's smart and sassy, a little force of nature, but still preserving that bit of innocence that makes her so endearing. Her feelings towards Klaus are incredibly conflicted. She hates him, but she can't help how drawn to him he is. After all, he's all she's left with after he kills her father. There's a lot of Stockholm syndrome in their relationship at times, but it's almost understandable, because not only is she a child, she also didn't exactly have an easy life prior to their encounter. Tough love is all she knows.
I said the story is not about him, but Klaus is also a fascinating piece. He's violent, short-tempered, has no idea how to deal with a child, but he's amused by Grace, and later on becomes attached to her. I guess he sees some of himself in her, the way she's been mistreated by life, how she's known violence from such a young age that she's become rebellious to the point of self-sufficience. She's precocious and obviously thinks she can take on anything, and Klaus can't help but admire that about her. She's a fighter, a survivor, and one who's not afraid to show her claws.
TW for some big red flag moments, though - which both makes sense if you consider who Klaus is and also makes you hate his ass. This isn't TO's Klaus, changing diapers like there's no tomorrow. This is very much early TVD Klaus - wild, mercurial, violent, selfish. He doesn't abuse her, btw (I mean, if you disregard the killing her father and then carrying her around part). But he does lose his patience a couple of times.
I also love how Grace just has her own opinions of the other characters. She seems to forget she's a mini person and takes Klaus' side a few times (raising eyebrows and causing general WTFs all around, while also getting eye-rolls from Klaus), but she also draws her own conclusions. For instance, she likes Alaric, because of course Alaric would be nice to a kid, even one who's been walking around with Klaus. He feels bad for her, is sympathetic, and so Grace likes him, even relates to him in how he lost Jenna the same way Klaus killed Ray. She gets that Klaus is a bad guy, she doesn't like that he hurts people, questions him a lot of the time, but she's also very quick to show her own wild baby wolf side, and that makes their relationship all the more interesting.
So far, there hasn't been a lot of Caroline. The story is unfinished, only six chapters so far. I am personally very much looking forward to seeing what that dynamic will be like once Klaus' obsession for Caroline becomes more obvious to Grace. But even so - I clicked on this fic for the Klaroline bits, and I have 100% stayed for little Grace. I just love her.
This is such a unique story, and the writing is so, so good, which is not at all an easy job considering it's written through a child's POV. If this is something you feel you might enjoy, please give it a try and show some love to the author! But mind the tags and be warned about any possible triggers and please, please, please do not leave any crappy comments if it turns out not to be your cup of tea. Don't be an asshole.

Mid Year Book Freakout Tag
yes this is mostly a youtube thing. but im doing it. i want to
Rules: answer the questions, tag some people, have fun! or don't. i'm not the boss of you
What's the best book you've read so far in 2022?
I haven't technically finished it, but The Lies Of Locke Lamora, 100%. It's fun, fantastical, adventurous, amazingly written, and heart-crushing :D
What's the best sequel you've read so far in 2022?
RULE OF WOLVES BY LEIGH BARDUGO
Best 2022 release you've read so far?
I've only read two 2022 releases, but probably The Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School. It was a fun read that knew how to pack some punches in there, and I read it in like a day.
What's a 2022 or otherwise recent release you want to get to?
Probably Zachary Ying and the Dragon Emperor. I just finished the author's other book, and I'm interested what her middle grade writing is like. (I'm on a quest to figure out if I like Xiran Jay Zhao's books or not.) Plus, it sounds super fun.
What's your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
Foul Lady Fortune by Chloe Gong!!!! I haven't finished her debut, These Violent Delights, yet, however I love it so far and FLF sounds like a super cool premise. (I'll have to finish the TVD series first, though, since I think FLF spoils it.)
What's the most disappointing book you've read this year?
This is Not the Jess Show. It was just... underwhelming, with a predictable plot and flat characters.
What book surprised you the most? (In a good or bad way.)
The Heartstopper volumes by Alice Oseman! I didn't expect to like them as much as I did, but they ended up being super fluffy and adorable (part of the reason I actually thought I wouldn't like them, lol). 10/10 recommend if you like romance and graphic novels.
What's the book you've read or bought/received this year with the most beautiful cover?
White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson. Like, the story inside was good and all, but the cover.... it's amazing. God tier.
What books do you hope to read before the year is over?
haha.... hahahaha..... uh
gideon the ninth, on earth we're briefly gorgeous, crime and punishment, sal & gabi number two, the locke lamora sequels, the poppy war, spy x family vol 1, a gathering of shadows, and going postal.
~
I don't actually know who would and wouldn't be interested in doing this tag, so I'm leaving it open. If you do it because you saw my post, please tag me! I'd love to hear about what other people are reading.

Chapter 18
“I just spoke with my father at home,” Roma said. He angled his head so he didn’t have to watch Dimitri pump his sts and bare his teeth to the crowd. “He has stopped caring about the madness. He thinks it is something that can be waited out. He thinks that Alisa will simply wake up and snap out of it when she has grown tired of trying to tear out her throat.”
That was a half truth. Lord Montagov no longer wished to investigate the madness, but it was not apathy. It was because Roma had hit a nerve and struck him right where it hurt most. This inaction was punishment. For calling his own father a coward, Lord Montagov would show him just how cowardly he could be, and let Alisa wilt away.
Hope you liked planning your wife’s funeral, because Alisa’s is going to be even worse.
“Hold on,” Marshall said. “Why wait for Lourens to make a cure from square one when there is word on the street about someone already having made a vaccine? We can steal the vaccine, run our research—”
“There is no way to know if the vaccine is real,” Benedikt cut in. “If you are speaking about the Larkspur, he sounds like an utter charlatan.”
He does sound like a joke. But at the same time… might as well investigate it, too. It sure beats sitting around and twiddling your thumbs while more and more people die.
He has a blade between his fingers, Roma realized dimly. Then, as if it was new information: Cheater.
THE DUDE SHOWED UP TO FIGHT CLUB WITH A GODDAMNED HAND-GUN, AND YOU’RE SURPRISED HE HAS OTHER WEAPONS?!
“Roma, I truly cannot fathom what else there is to do,” Benedikt admitted. “I think the meeting made it clear that the White Flowers know nothing.”
THE ENTIRE POINT OF THE MEETING WAS TO AGREE TO SET ASIDE DIFFERENCES AND WORK TO FIND A CURE OR A WAY TO STOP THE LITERAL INSANITY.
A minute later Roma resurfaced, the contents of his stomach emptied. “Okay,” he said bitterly. “I’ll ask Juliette alone for her help.”
Chapter 18 summary: Roma fumes as he leaves the hospital and makes his way to an underground fight club. There he runs into Ben and Marshall, and complains that his father refuses to do a goddamned thing. That he’d literally let his only daughter die simply to teach Roma a lesson. They talk briefly about that Larkspur character and his alleged “cure”.
In the fight ring, some Russian guy pulls a gun on his opponent, claiming that he’d seen the guy trading with the Scarlets. The guy says he’s not associated with either of them. Roma thinks that the man must have arrived in the city a day or two ago to be that fucking stupid. Roma tries to stop Demetri from shooting the American, but the man is killed anyway. Roma then faces off against the guy, and when Demetri plays dirty, Roma plays dirtier.
Outside, his friend and cousin talk some more about going to the Scarlets for information. They’re certain that none of them know anything, but agree that it’s obvious Juliette is trying to find the answers, too. So Roma agrees to talk to her for help.
Chapter 19
At the very least, her parents were taking the madness seriously now.
Well, that’s one set of adults who are. Too bad Roma’s dad feels like he has better things to be doing than getting to the bottom of why people keep dying.
Juliette bolted upright. Someone was knocking rhythmically on the glass doors of her second-floor balcony.
We are not fucking doing this.
“You ask me for help,” Juliette said quietly, “and yet—how much blood is on your hands, Roma? In the time I was gone, how many of my people asked you for help, for mercy, right before you shot them?”
Roma’s eyes were wholly black under the moonlight. “I have nothing to say to that,” he answered. “The blood feud was the blood feud. This is something utterly new in itself. If we don’t help each other, we may both die out.”
This is a girl who would literally cut her own nose off to spite her face. I don’t know why Roma would think differently.
Only then did she allow herself to emit a long exhale, pushing the moonlight out of her room and its changing faces out of her heart.
Chapter 19 summary: Juliette sits with her mother, although at least her parents are taking this seriously. Unlike Roma’s dad, they see the writing on the wall. This insanity doesn’t matter what race or gang that you are… it kills and kills. And the Cai’s know that if they do nothing, then both of their gangs will be made extinct.
After Mrs. Cai leaves, Roma climbs his way up onto Juliette’s second story balcony. Because this is a shitty Romeo and Juliet remake, if you hadn’t caught onto that already. AND WE NEED OUR GODDAMNED BALCONY SCENE.
Anyway, Roma begs for Juliette’s help, saying that this is for Alisa. Juliette softens a little bit, but refuses at first. They go back and forth but eventually she agrees to help. Not for Roma or the White Flowers, but for Alisa and all of the little girls like her. She tells him about the communist paper editor, and how Kathleen got her the guy’s home address earlier tonight. She warns that she and Roma cannot be seen together, because that would be bad for business. But they agree to set out at dawn to search the guy’s house.
