Okay I don’t want this to be like an obnoxious millennial assumption because I’m positive that every generation has things like this, but the way autism and ADHD was treated for us in the 90’s and how it affects adult diagnoses is like, imo, so integral to our coming of age and the stories we tell and the way we’ve gotten to know ourselves, even the way it relates to our job market and economy and how we operate inside it, and especially the way a pandemic uncovered it for so many people and exposed the cracks and revealed that we were all just barely functioning and held together with popsicle sticks and anyway
I say that because maybe it’s the un-diagnosed 90’s child in me but I feel particularly emotional about Keith’s arc in learning that he’s part Galra, and the way even the creators said they made him sort of prickly because of his biology, and I just !! Think so much about Keith’s neurotype as a part Galra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cause something about being diagnosed later in life is like, looking back at all the other ways you tried to handle yourself, all the missteps, maybe even misdiagnoses. Like, how many times did you try to treat ANXIETY without realizing you didn’t have an anxiety disorder, you just can’t deal with your family blaring the TV from the next room? How many times were you told you were lazy, or lying, when you didn’t know what executive dysfunction is?
Keith is such a lovely rich character because his prickliness is EARNED—we know what happened to him, we know he’s traumatized, we know he’s been treated poorly by many people in his life. We know that he grew up thinking that he’d been abandoned by one of the people who should’ve loved him the most, in the whole world. He even questions that in his vlog—he makes the connection that he has trouble with people because of his mom.
But I just wonder like, how much of it is just his biology. Not understanding the body he’s in, being completely ignorant of one whole half of his culture. Had he ever mutated before the TBP fight? Did it take him by surprise, did it frighten him? ((* This is head canon territory LMAO there’s no way to really know—like, is he able to do this because he just spent so much time with Krolia, or does Shiro going That’s the Keith I remember mean they used to have really primal sex that turned his eyes yellow? Lol))
Like when we talk about even the most broad generic terms of saying someone is neurodivergent, we don't even need to put a real life label on Keith. Like he's literally not human! Of course his brain looks different! Of course he functions differently! And I wonder how much is nature v nurture -- if he knew the truth about his mom, if his dad had lived, if he'd been allowed a normal childhood, would he still have been a weird kid?
Cause like, even seeing the way Shiro is able to get through to him, we see ways that he allowed for thrill seeking, and he didn't judge Keith for stealing his car. It reminds me of like, what we know now about asking children to sit still in school, and how perhaps some children would do better with standing desks. Shiro wants him to behave and succeed, and doesn't judge him for being a car thief, and gets through to him by bringing him cliff diving. And it just feels like this clue, you know, that nothing is wrong with Keith, he's just living in a weird place where people don't get him.
It’s just really special to me, because there’s so many pieces in the sequence of events of Keith’s character arc, and I know I’ve said this a handful of times now, but I really sincerely believe it’s the only thing the show really nailed. Accepting himself during the BOM Trial -> MOMENTS later learning something ver important about his biology -> spending time with Krolia -> coming back to pilot Black when he’s READY and WANTS to (unlike the first time, when he resisted) -> becoming a pragmatic strong leader by the end.
Gosh idk.
I don’t really have anywhere to go with this, it’s just something I was thinking about today and it gets me real emotional. Like, Keith must have had these moments, re-evaluating who he’d been before he’d known, finally understanding why he was Like That, and it’s so healing to imagine him accepting his past self and forgiving it because he understands now.

Would u mind sharing more abt current plot of swan? 👀 every time i see these gals i smile and wait for more
I only have a rough outline right now but the main deal is that it takes place entirely in Sidhe, no human world to speak of, and humans and faeries exist sort of side-by-side but in a more "we don't talk to each other much and if you meet one you're lucky to escape alive" way. there is a new main character and they're a human with zero powers and they have a quest to go on to collect some special items and Keira is one of the first faeries they meet on their travels, and they make a deal with her to accompany them on their quest in exchange for a favour (unspecified), and Keira reluctantly agrees to it. so Keira and our MC are the main characters, and Keira becomes a guide/mentor of sorts.
also to answer this question I just got bc it's relevant:
all the main character in Swan WILL still be in the revamp but I haven't decided yet just how much they'll all appear. Cailín obviously has a much bigger role than the others, and Will & Sky comparatively have bigger roles than the rest of the remaining cast, but because it's still in such early stages I haven't quite decided where I wanna take this because at the moment it's sort of looking like it's going to be kind of long and that takes um. a lotta planning lol. If I have my way I'll be able to include everyone a nice amount but it's still too early to really say much haha

Hello I have come to be the annoying (joking) Soundjack bug who shall invade this inbox with this goddamn rarepair. SO RARE IN FACT I THOUGHT I MADE IT UP WHEN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUNNY TO HAVE THE TWO CHARACTERS I SIMP FOR THE HARDEST KISS HFJKF. But yes, hi, hello enjoy some spicy and fluffy headcanons of the two lol.
-Soundwave bottoms between the two. Like Soundwave is a switch, they both are, but after dealing with the chaos that is the Nemesis, Soundwave is ready to be fragged hard and through and take it like a champ
-The autobots are more aware of Wheeljack's friends with benefits thing with Sounds, while Soundwave keeps it under wraps near the cons. I feel like if this was SG/Shatter Glass, it would be reversed, mainly because Wheeljack would have just fucking invited himself onto the Nemesis to bug Soundwave (idk why, but SG!Prime!Wheeljack screams more like neutral ex-wrecker turn bounty hunter to me //shrugs)
-The Episode with Makeshift in it was awkward for Soundwave because he had to dodge so many questions as to why he had a file of Wheeljack voice clips on standby.
-Thanks to the internet, Soundwave accidently discovered he has a strength and size kink. Wheeljack abuses this by yoinking Soundwave and pinning him to walls while they fuck
-When Soundwave is too overstim but still wants company from his autobot fuck buddy, Wheeljack just lets Soundwave lean on or curl into him. It's like the one time they are more gentle to each other and act like a borderline couple.
YES
WIN
Win psychology on making them kiss tbh
Makes sense the autobots would know and Sounders makes sure most of the cons Don't... But your SG idea is hilarious
Makeshift: why do you have wheeljack's voice right now
Soundwave:
Soundwave: *just fucking leaves*
Aha, our second favorite source of the mecha learning new things about themselves: the human internet.
Oh aww yes cuddle time

The thing I love the most about Black Sapphire is something I only noticed while lurking around the place in daylight.
As captivating and distracting the view over Night City is, especially after dusk, there's this part that submerges into the darkness every evening and gets blurred into the background.
Boom, it's the storm channel. Enter Kurt Hansen with his "Black Sapphire is my pride and joy, but mentally I'm still there at the storm channel, and when I flatline I want it to be my final destination" (x). The storm channel that he mentions while reminiscing.
And the duality of this view touched my mind; how there's this gigantic posh city built on heaps of money, intrigues and overbearing self-importance, while there's also this unsightly channel — unimportant to most, but one person. A permanent reminder of a major turning point in his life. And that is not to say, though, that he has no Night-City-ness in him — he absolutely does and a lot — but it's the combination of both that I love here. The poetry of it all.

*shuffles in* I said I might post some OC art on this account, sooo... consider this a test run lol. Meet one of my oldest ocs, D'artagnan <3 He's been through a lot of re-designs, but he still looks like an anime character, and yknow what that's ok x'D He's one of the winged people from a story I wrote the first draft of in 2014 (just realized that was ten years ago omg). I'm still slowly picking away at that story because atp it's massive comfort content for me specifically :)
Will I post oc art ever again after this? Who knows, I am trying very hard to only do art bc I want to right now/ aka unlearn the "draw it only to post it" mentality, so it all depends how I feel xD

do you have a favourite portrayal of a character in the gotg game!! who is it and why <3
Oh I think they're all great honestly!!! Part of why I love the game so much is that genuinely, the whole team + supporting characters are written with such obvious love of the source material and equal attention between them all. When I see comments of people saying who their favorite character was from the game and the answer always being different from each person I'm like!! That's how it SHOULD be!!! They're the Guardians of the Galaxy (plural) the focus shouldn't all fall on a singular character like most other GotG media usually ends up as 😭
The two (sorry I can't pick just one) whom I think benefit the most from the game though are Drax and Gamora because they're almost always sidelined both in-and-out of universe by most of the various writers (especially as of late) and in turn the viewers/readers. I've been told plenty of times that they're the most boring members of the "main" team, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE THAT WAY! The amount of love the game versions get (by the few who've played it at least) proves that 🥺
I've never really liked 616 Drax shifting to being a complete clown during the 90s and such (and even less so when the MCU followed along 💀) So I appreciate the game taking a bit of his seriousness from the DnA run and just making him struggle with nuance and context clues in a less exaggerated way (autistic Drax I still believe in u) and I feel the focus put on him and how losing his original family + the aftermath deeply affected him hits pretty hard here because it's treated very seriously and shown in depth, especially with how his family (wife) gets actual focus. I cannot tell you anything about Yvette in comparison to Hovat, who actually seemed to have had a personality lol (AND she was on their village's council like omg imagine having more to you than just being The Housewife) Though I will say I flip and flop on my thoughts about Heather being disconnected from Drax's life in this universe... The TLDR is that I think his arc here specifically works stronger when he has to come to terms with losing his entire family and accepting the life he currently has with the Guardians. BUT!!! I very much appreciate that Heather is still confirmed to exist within this universe, even if that means her dad issues would have to be dealt with in a different context if we ever get to see her.
Also? Shoutout to the writers actually bringing up the intense paranoia that always kneecapped 616 Drax but having that be a turning point in his backstory here, with that conversation he has with Peter where he talks about how he was becoming so paranoid of everyone being a chitauri/Thanos conspirator to the point of literally turning into an obsessed maniac like Thanos, and realizing that he desperately needed to turn his life around, it's so ough.
Out of the already many great conversations throughout the game, I think the ones with him are the most poignant. My favorite scene in the whole game is Drax and Pete's little moment on Knowhere... makes me go wahhh
(l also love that out of everyone on the team, it's his headspace that we quite literally get to go into. You KNOW that if this was any other media it'd be going into Rocket or Groot's head and likely treated as a joke.)
And oh my god, Gamora...
I find it so extremely refreshing that her role in the plot doesn't revolve purely around the men in her life, and instead, it's nearly exclusively her connection with other women. Or in the most direct obstacle she has to deal with, being how she starts projecting to the millionth degree on Nikki's situation for reminding her of what happened to her and Nebula. I find that infinitely more fascinating as a reading of her character rather than just dating drama or her arc getting completely overtaken by a man's instead.
And especially in her friendship with Mantis, who, despite having all these futures she's constantly seeing and having to navigate, still makes time to do her best to help her 🥺 From saving her life and being the one who put her on the path to healing on Lamentis, to getting her to join the Guardians and still checking in on her when she's able 😭 Friendship between women can be so powerful... u love to see it (🏳️🌈)
I also find it nice that there's this emphasis on her recovering mentally, and the comparison between Thanos essentially teaching her to just Deal with the shit in her life through very simplistic meditation versus the priests of Pama actually teaching her something to help soothe the mind :^( and that she still has moments of relapsing essentially. I find that to be a realistic take on recovery because that's just part of the journey since healing is not linear... and I think it's very sweet that she finds comfort in collecting something ---girly--- like dolls. Love to see a person reclaim a part of their childhood that they weren't allowed to experience. And how she's allowed to make BAD JOKES?? Imagine a woman being written to have multiple dimensions, crazy and absolutely unthinkable, I know.
There's this extremely specific theme in relation to Gamora across media that's been rattling around in my brain since first playing the game. When near the end during the revisit to Knowhere, she's about to completely lose it when Peter tries talking -for- her on what she's so upset about before immediately shooting him down, and she explains what happened between her and Nebula and she starts crying. It really struck me right then that she's never given a moment to cry elsewhere (or in the 616's case, the quite literal inability to.) aside from her shedding a Single Manly Tear (Original Sin) or a single moment out of legit fear (MCU 💀) because she's a hashtag Strong Independant Woman who can't be vulnerable etc etc. But for her to cry in front of the people she's come to care about, It gives her a moment of true vulnerability that I don't think she's allowed ever in most other media.
That and all of the above hits hard and is what makes me genuinely believe that the writers cared about her in the narrative and tried to do right by her when every other bit of media really hasn't nor cared to the majority of the time since the 90s :'^/ Brings a tear to my eye that she's allowed to just... exist in the narrative on her own merits and not on what she can provide to someone else's story.

MY SON MY CHILDE MY BOY!!!! I'm so excited u don't understand whooooooo!!! I'm so ready for him to cause the fake french maybe also british (or even spanish, honestly vaguely 'western' european) people so many issues.
I can imagine in my heart of hearts off screen he is causing one totally canon Lieutenant Claude Anouilh of the Fontaine Armed Forces endless issues. I can believe.
But in all seriousness I'm super interested in this because of the potential for some more Harbinger interaction. Other than Siggy and him (and some implied mostly off screen interactions) we really don't have any and Arlecchino in particular is also there. She and Childe have some honestly super fascinating contradictory beliefs in child raising (childe does anything to keep their innocence while she seemingly raises them so they would be prepared for anything regardless of what they have to go through). Other than Pulcinella and Columbina (though all 3 for very different reasons), Arlecchino is definitely the one I'm most interested in seeing interact with Childe.

THIS IS SO SWEET OF YOU BOTH BUT I NEED MORE DIRECTION DFKJGDFGDF i do not know what to yell about unprompted. what have i not talked about yet. have i talked about how witches and palistrom trees are symbiotic entities. im very proud of that particular lore :3 but also a lot of it is stuff unpacked across the series so maybe i shouldnt spill everything djgkdfg
but what i CAN say is that. palistrom trees are 100% sapient they simply exist on a time scale we mere mortals cannot comprehend. and they love their witches so so much you guys. they love those funky little guys SO MUCH.

i say, i'm getting really curious about jenkins, is he a fidus chappie or one of those approach-at-your-own-risk types? and now that we're here could you tell me your favourite thing about him?
thanks muchly
AA ty for this ask!!!! im so glad someones curious abt him i'm vibrating at the speed of LIGHT thank YOU muchly
is he a fidus chappie is a tough question. hes polite/cool/professional but thats mostly cos of his job (he's a train attendant so he's gotta be a gentleman). HOWEVER his temper is kind of short when he's teased, so he gets snippy quickly.... but he can also be?? playful?? he has some vaguely-flirty lines. he contains multitudes lol
overall, under his politeness i think he's got a sore spot about being underestimated and overall is a bit of a misanthrope. i mean he kills people hehe >:] so i think ill leave it at, you'd probably only want to have a pleasant passing conversation at the train station or at a coffee shop before he gets ideas LMAO
as for my favorite thing its actually SO hard to choose one.... i like his whole physical appearance (stupid little pince-nez, slutty little waistcoat etc) but i choose his hair bc cos it comes down in the finale as a representation of how he's coming unhinged and this trope SUSTAINS me. slay jenkins
