KISSES ON THE BEACH — conrad fisher x reader

warnings: swearing, angst, fluff, pt2 of on the beach

the tweets from the birds fill the girls ears meaning that it was time for a new day, she didn’t want to get up just yet, not ready to face anyone, so she pulled the blanket over her face just for it to pulled off her a couple seconds later.

“wake up sweetheart.” the tone was sarcastic and she knew who it was immediately, couldn’t he just leave her alone? yn remembered everything from the party last night and she was embarrassed, embarrassed that she let herself get to that point, embarrassed that she basically exposed herself to the person that she loves, her best friends ex.

she groans reaching for the blanket only for him to hold it out of her reach, “conrad, give me like five minutes.” yn says getting up from the floor to get the blanket out his hands, a wave hits her and she now remembers how much alcohol she had last night, she could really go for Jeremiah’s smoothie’s right about now.

he shakes his head, balling up the blanket and holding it above his head and out of yn’s reach, “nope,you need to wake up.”

“I’m awake right now aren’t I?” she says tugging on his arm, “just give me five minutes, do you see how hung over I am right now?”

“and who’s fault is that?” he asks tauntingly, “we also need to talk.” his face now becoming serious.

yn finally tugs the blanket out of his hand and decides to fold the blanket, “talk about what?” she knows exactly what he’s talking about.

“you know what I’m talking about yn.” he sighs frustrated, “don’t even try to act like last night didn’t happen.” he starts his eyes not leaving her, “you said a lot and did a lot, and we need to talk about this because it doesn’t just affect you, it affects me as well.”

she just shakes her head walking over to the corner of the room to put down the blanket, she didn’t want to talk about it, she didn’t want to be put in another vulnerable situation.

“can you go back to being a jerk who doesn’t know how to communic-?”

“yn!” the familiar voice cuts yn off and she stands rigid, she looks at conrad in shock, “laurel is here?” she whisper shouts at him.

“belly called her.” he shrugs scratching the back of his neck, remembering the reason why he woke up yn in the first place.

“of course she did.” yn whispers to herself, can this whole summer get any worse?

“conrad I told you to wake her up to help clean, what’s taking so long?” the voice shouts up the stairs again.

yn smiles realizing this is an opportunity to avoid having a certain conversation with conrad, “I guess duty calls.” yn shrugs, brushing past the taller boy.

“yn-” he tries to call out but she’s already out the room.

taylor held her bag over her shoulder as she set her sharp gaze on yn, who leaned against one of the walls, “what?” she whispered to the blonde.

“I think you should talk to belly.” taylor said straightforwardly raising her hands when yn opens her mouth to protest, “I’ll be leaving and you won’t have me to stick beside the whole time.” she saying pointing down the stairs.

“I don’t understand why I have to talk to her.” yn shrugs, “I’ve been fine this whole year.”

“yn I heard about last night.” taylor sighs, “as someone who actually goes to therapy, this isn’t healthy at all, I understand you and that’s why I took your side.” she lets out a deep sigh, “but I miss when we were a trio I miss having both of by best friends.”

“Taylor just because you miss our friend group doesn’t mean I have to forgive and forget things with belly, she hurt me, she betrayed me, I trusted her the most when it came to my feelings for him.” yn says angrily.

“I understand that yn, but I just want you to talk to her, you don’t have to be besties, but please talk to her, for me?” Taylor says clasping her hands together.

yn rolls her eyes as her friend gives her puppy dog eyes, “I’ll think about it…”

“yes!”

“don’t get to excited let’s get you to the door and out of my sight.”

“this is so disgusting.” yn says to herself as she looks out the window only to witness steven kissing taylor, she hears a familiar laugh and a presence beside her, “tell me about it.” she turns only to come face to face with belly.

out of instinct yn face falls and she gets ready to turn around and walk away from the window but then she remembers taylor’s words, “belly?” she says quietly.

“hum.” the brunette hums turning to face yn.

“we need to talk.”

“we do.” belly says playing with her hands, “you go first.”

“okay..” yn trails off preparing herself for some vulnerability, something she’s not a fan of, “belly you were my best friend, you are my best friend.” she starts, “you knew how much of a crush I had on conrad , I told you everything I knew about him and all my feelings for him, just for me to see you guys kissing on the beach.” yn says tearfully, “I honestly just want to know why? why did you do that to me.”

belly’s gaze stills for a couple of moments before and nods and takes a deep breath, “I-I loved him yn.” she starts,cringing when you roll your eyes, “I loved him as long as you have but before I got a chance to tell you, you already told me about your feelings for him and I knew just from then that my chances with him was slim to none, you’re so pretty and smart and make the best decisions that I knew conrad had to like you back.” belly says inching closer to you.

“and he did, he does.” belly said wiping a year from her eye, “and before I say this promise me yn you won’t be more mad then you already are.”

“I can’t promise that.” yn says shaking her head, she doesn’t know what belly is about to say but she knows it’s gonna be bad just by the look on her face.

“yn, promise me.”

yn reluctantly nodded, knowing to well that she doesn’t mean it, “I promise.”

“okay..” belly starts again, “I decided during to spring before the summer of last year, to call conrad and check in.” yn raised her brow at this, “he didn’t say much, he didn’t seem in the mood which is understandable now, but he did mention that he was excited to see you.”

yn tries her best to fight down the smile and tries to make its way to her face at the last sentence as nods for belly go continue.

“and that hurt me so much, because I knew that, that summer was gonna be different for me and for you, there was this feeling in my chest that told me that you and conrad were gonna end up together but I didn’t want that.” belly says more tears running down her face, “so I told conrad that you were excited for come to the beach house as well cause this would be the summer that you would confess your feelings to jeremiah.”

yn feels like her chest is heavy, she can’t breathe, “what?”

“I’m so sorry yn.” belly cries taking both of your hands in hers, your to shock to even pull away, “I just loved him so much that I became selfish and it got in the way of both yours and his happiness.”

“belly..” yn says trying to fight back her tears, “why? why did you do that?”

“I’m sorry.” belly cries, “please yn I love you so much you’re my best friend and I hate myself for what I did to you and how I’ve been acting, this is just all so fucked .”

“belly..” yn starts, “I don’t think I can forgive you, you’re right this is all so fucked up.”

“I know and I don’t blame you, and I don’t know what to do.” belly sniffs as she wipes her tears, “but I can do this, please talk to conrad yn, he is so in love with you, he’s head over heals in love with you, all he thinks about is you even when we were dating, he was so worried about you because of how distant you had been.” belly says rushingly.

“I don’t know…”

“do you know what susannah had said to me when we visited her before she did?” belly asks and you shake your head, “she said tell yn to take care of my older boy.”

this is what makes yn cry, tears rush to her eyes and all she can do is lean into belly, “she knew that you and conrad were meant to be, I know that you and conrad are meant to be, but I was to selfish to admit it to myself, so please yn please talk to him and be happy I want you to be happy.” belly says wrapping her arms around yn.

“you’re the sister that I never had and I can’t believe I let a boy get between us, so talk to him yn.” belly says unwrapping her arms from yn, “just know that I love you no matter what, I don’t care if you hate me and never want to talk to me again, I will always be here.”

all yn can do is nod.

“so talk to him yn, I think he’s on the beach.” and with that belly is gone up the stairs.

the ocean breeze hits yn as she walks through the sand and towards the older boy who sits in front of the water, she’s gonna talk to him, she’s gonna put her heart on the line.

she lets out a deep sigh as she takes a seat beside him on the sand, “what a morning huh?”

he looks shocked to see her, “yeah…” he nods, “uh, yn I know you don’t want to but we need to tal-”

“I know.” she cuts him off, “I’ve been doing a lot of that this morning.” she laughs to herself as he looks at her confused.

yn takes a deep breath before turning her gaze to his face, “conrad I’m in love with you, I’ve been in love with you practically my whole life.”

warmth comes to his cheeks as he nods urging her to continue.

“you dating belly hurt me a lot, because a little piece of me thought you liked me, but you ended up liking my best friend who also knew that I liked you.” yn says as she looks down at the sand, playing with it slightly.

“yn I didn’t kno-”

“I know con.” she says looking back up at him, “I know.”

conrad stands up holding his hand out to you to pull you up, as you take his hand your eyes never leave each other.

“yn I’ve been in love with you for a while.” he starts, “and when belly told me that you liked jeremiah, that hurt like crazy, cause just like you I thought you liked me but it turned out you liked my brother.” he says grabbing your hands. “belly comforted me about it and I thought maybe this will help me get over you but it didn’t.”

“because I’m so in love with you yn it’s unbelievable, words can’t even explain how much I love you.” he rambles pulling you closer to him by the loops of your shorts.

you smile feeling heat climb up your neck, “ I knew you were obsessed with me deep down.” you joke.

he laughs shaking his head at your joke, “so what do we do now?” you ask.

“yn you have my heart.” he starts, “so please don’t break it.”

a smile makes it way to your face, “I won’t.” you whisper.before you pull him down by the strings of his sweater, pressing your lip’s gently onto his.

you feel him smile as he grabs both sides of her face, deepening the kiss.

he pulls away for a second, “don’t break it I mean it.” he says before pulling you back into a kiss again.

you won’t, you’re gonna take care of his just as much as he will take care of yours.

Jenna is currently sitting on the sofa on her manager's office.

"What is your problem Jenna? You have invited a big crowd and thank heavens we don't need to delete much picture from the both of you because they were so surprised from what you did. We only have a few twitter and tiktok accounts that still post what happened." Jenna's manager told her as he seats in front of the girl.

"I'm sorry..."

The only words that came out from Jenna's mouth ever since she was brought by her manager from Y/N's unit to the office, because inside her head, she goes back to the moment where Y/N admitted her feelings. She could've react differently instead of being silent, she could've agreed to Y/N and talk to her, or maybe she can kiss Y/N to prove that she also wants to kiss the girl, or maybe just maybe, she doesn't pull the shit from the park and just watched a movie.

There are so many 'what if's' and 'could've been' that's running inside Jenna's mind not until the voice of her manager removed her from her thoughts.

"Do you understand? We just need you to follow what we said and we will be alright" Jenna's manager said and looked at her intently, looking like he will never take a no for an answer.

Jenna then just nodded her head and quietly said "yes."

Jenna's team was now fixing the table and the papers that were scattered on the table not until Jenna broke the chaos "Please don't contact Y/N anymore. I don't need you in her business." She said and looked intently to her team, and directed it to her manager.

A long pause was given, half-heartedly, her manager nodded. That made Jenna feal at ease somehow, because she doesn't want Y/N to get stress about this issue, it is all her fault anyway.

Even though Jenna doesn't quite remember what are the rules that her manager and her team gave her, she just go with it, because it's normally lesser public appearance, lesser use of her social media, and sadly, lesser meet-ups with Y/N. She thinks she can handle it, because in a few week, she'll be back to filming Wednesday S2 and just will be facetiming Y/N. If Y/N will answer, she thinks.

Jenna was now in her bedroom, tired after the long night that she had. Fumbling with her phone, thinking if she should text Y/N and ask her about what happened, Jenna was pulled out from her thoughts by a facetime call, it is Emma.

"I WAS RIGHT" Emma said, "I WAS RIGHT YOU LIED TO ME, HOW COULD YOU?"

Jenna was stunned because what the fuck is Emma talking about, she have no idea, "What are you talking about?" Jenna asked with full curiosity.

"You and your long time friend who owns the coffee shop inside the studio is dating!" Emma exclaimed like stating the truth, Jenna then replied "No, no, what do you mean?"

"Like bestie, your proposal in the lake is all over the internet right now, I should congratulate you, or not I guess" Emma stated as she started to send screenshots to Jenna from twitter to tiktok. Jenna then shakes her head "No, this can't be, my team deleted all the pictures and articles about this." Jenna was slightly panicking because she thought that her team have deleted any pictures and articles from the proposal.

"I'll call you later I promise, bye" Jenna ended the call without giving Emma a chance to reply and reactivated her twitter account just to see what Emma is talking about, and the other girl was right, the both of you are trending.

In her search list, the words that was associated to the both of you are I knew it, dumbass, and Her loss.

She saw tweets like stating that they knew it from the start that Jenna and Y/N was in a relationship, another tweet said that Y/N was dumb to reject Jenna, and some were begging Jenna that if she proposed to them they will say 'yes'. But Jenna thought, they are not Y/N, they are not the person that she likes.

After opening Twitter, she went straight to tiktok and search her name, which is probably not the right thing to do but she wants to see what people say to you, the last thing that she wants is for the general public to hate you and blame you.

And with that, almost all of the videos of Jenna and Y/N are edited with the song Champagne Problems by Taylor Swift. Captions in the videos are quoting the lyrics from "You won't remember all her Champagne Problems" to "I can patch up the tapestry that she shred." She also saw some comments in the video saying "she's fucked in the head" pertaining to Y/N.

That broke her, why are you getting all the hate if it is all her fault? You don't deserve this madness that she brought to your life because all you did was to bring her sunshine and be the silver lining to every dark cloud that she had. You were right, she thought.

Jenna then calls her manager and he answered fast "I thought you all deleted the pictures and the news? What happened now?" Jenna said full in rage, angry for what the public is labeling you as, "I thought you agreed?" Her manager replied "We would not delete the pictures and the news, but we would let it grow, we can handle it anyways, we just need to get Y/N out of the picture and make sure that she will not be part of any narrative. That woman is bad for business Jenna, we're telling you."

That stunned Jenna, all the time that they were talking inside the office she was so occupied with thoughts of you that she fucking agreed with this shit where you are scrutinized. Jenna then starts to cry and ended the call. What she did next will probably make her manager more angry with her.

She went out of her bedroom, grab her coat, grab her keys, ride her car, and drove to your apartment.

Currently in your apartment, you are with you best friend trying to read all the shit that was thrown into you in the internet. You told her the whole story and she thought that was a shit move for Jenna, because not only her manager hated you, but now, almost all of the people in the world hated you.

"I told you Y/N it was a bad idea to go that day didn't I?" your best friend told you proving a point but you can't even focus on her voice because you were so drowned out with your own thoughts that was coming in like a flood.

Your best friend kept on talking and talking until they noticed that you were just spacing out and sat next to you and pulled you in a hug which you gladly melt in to, "I'm sorry this is happening, I didn't mean to blame you, but your friend is fucking shit."

A knock to your door was heard which your best friend gladly attend to. Opening the door they were so stunned for seeing who is in the other side, Jenna.

"What do you need?" your best friend tells Jenna, which she answered "I need to talk to Y/N please." Your best friend just looked at Jenna not until your voice was heard from the inside telling that Jenna should come in.

"You have the guts to show up here, make this right." Your best friend threatens Jenna and left the apartment leaving you and Jenna alone.

"I'm sorry" Jenna started, looking at your back. You tap the empty space beside you and that is where Jenna is walking to, seating beside you.

"I wanna blame you for everything Jenna." Y/N blurted out, not facing Jenna, "I wanna blame you for everything that is happening right now." Y/N lets out a heavy sigh.

Jenna answered "I know, I know, and I'm sorry, I should be the one who gets to be blamed, I don't know what to say, I'm really just sorry and I wanted to tell that you were right." Jenna is now trying to stop the tears from falling while she looks at you, "Y/N please, look at me, just tell me what to do for you to forgive me, I'll do it, please" Jenna begs.

Y/N looked at Jenna with so much pain in her eyes, "be gone."

Seconds have passed, Jenna was too stunned to even speak, still processing what you said.

"No, Y/N please no, this can't be" Jenna said, "This was what your manager wanted in the first place, he wanted me out of the picture ever since you blow up. I don't fucking blame him for that because who am I, right? But this is not the way I imagined it" Y/N looked so defeated in Jenna's eyes. Y/N was willing to give up their friendship, even if it's not what she wants.

"No, that's not gonna happen Y/N, you are my best friend and I can't just leave you hanging, getting all the scrutiny from the media, from the public. This is entirely my fault, please, don't ask me to leave." Jenna plead, because that was the last thing that Jenna wats to do, to leave you.

"Jenna we can't be friends okay, don't you understand? You leaving me would benefit the both of us; it will benefit you since there will be one less problem to your management and it will benefit me because it can possibly help me to move on from you." Y/N said with a sad smile.

"Move on? The hell are you saying? There will be no moving on for you because..." Jenna said, making Y/N confused "because I like you too. I like you too, just like how you like me Y/N."

Y/N laughed "Stop with the pity Jenna, I know you are sorry but you don't need to tell me that you like me to give me a proper closure."

"No, but I'm not lying Y/N, I swear to God, I like you too and I'm just too scared to admit it to myself because I got so scared for what will happen to me, to us, to our friendship." Jenna said, trying to convince Y/N, but Y/N won't budge and just shakes her head.

"Jenna it's okay, you don't need to lie, I understand" Y/N said standing up from the sofa.

"But you don't understand Y/N, I like you, for real, without a doubt. Even before this shit happened, even before that dinner in our house, that night stroll in K-town, the first picture of us from the public, even before my manager knew you; I liked you since then" Jenna said standing up and getting a hold of your hand.

Y/N started to shake her head and retracted her hands from Jenna's hold "This can't be Jenna" Jenna then answered "How can you not believe that I like you Y/N."

"Because I'm just me Jenna, I'm just me and you're you. I mean, you can find someone who's better than me and who will be good for your name, but I'm just me Jenna" Y/N explained.

"But that's it Y/N, I like you because you are you, and I wouldn't want to like anyone because they are not you," Jenna said and continued "Please just tell me what can I do, please."

Y/N sat on the far side of the sofa, her mind twirling with the words that came out from Jenna's mouth. She's very glad that Jenna likes her back, but the damage was done, the media hates her, Jenna's manager hates her, and the public hates her. But most importantly, Jenna hurt her.

"I honestly don't know Jenna" Y/N confessed "You hurt me, and I don't know what to do. The public also despise me, and your manager hates me."

Jenna then kneels beside Y/N and said "I know, I know. I'm gonna tell you how sorry I am and I will apologize until you forgive me but I also know that it isn't enough for you to forgive me. The damage is big and let me just think of a way to handle it. As for my manager, let me just think again." and chuckled looking at you.

Y/N knows to herself that a simple apology from Jenna will make all the pain go away, but this is different, Jenna really hurts Y/N's feelings.

Y/N gave a sad smile to Jenna which Jenna gave back, she rested her head at Y/N's thigh and dropped a light kiss on her knees. Y/N tried to relax in the seat and puts her hand on Jenna's hair and caress it that makes the other girl relax too.

Minutes of silence have passed until Jenna bounced between Y/N's thighs and opened her camera.

"What are you doing?" Y/N asked Jenna and the other girl answered "I'm gonna do something. You just need to stay still, okay?"

Jenna puts her phone down, directed to your indoor slippers since the both of you decided to buy a matching indoor slippers because "it's cute", and captures it.

It surprised Y/N "Okay, what the fuck was that for?" Jenna then answered Y/N "Since my management is not dropping any statement and I didn't sign any contract to get you out of my life, I will be the one to make an announcement."

Y/N questionably looked at Jenna, not sure on what Jenna will do with the picture, not until Y/N saw Jenna opened her Instagram account.

"Jenna, NO." Y/N said while trying to get Jenna's phone, but Jenna knows that Y/N will gonna do so Jenna pushed Y/N away from her and starts to type.

Y/N then surrender, both of her hands up in the air and said "Okay, I'm not gonna get your phone, but please just tell me what you're doing."

Jenna then situated her phone between the both of them and made Y/N read what she typed.

With a surprised look Y/N said "Are you fucking insane? Are you sure? What the hell are you thinking?"

"Please trust me on this." Jenna said with a smile and Y/N just nodded and answered "This doesn't mean I forgive you" and Jenna bring her phone down and looked at Y/N directly and said "I know, I will do my best to earn your forgiveness and trust me back, I just hope you still love me then."

And that made you smile, because you know in your heart, you will always love Jenna, "I will promise to love you" Y/N answered with a small smile.

In his office, Jenna's manager was reading what Jenna posted and it is a picture of Jenna and someone's feet, but boy does he know who it belongs

After seeing the post, Jenna's manager can feel the nerve on his right lobe pulsated with what he saw. Because what the fuck is this?

First Fic: Transparancy

This was literally the first time I ever attempted to write something. Originally published on ffn, this was in my Hetalia era and thus is under a different pseud than most know me for (by design). I went from mimicking the fandom norms to finding my own voice and understanding of characters, and before DYK I thought this would be my longest fic.

Last Fic: Just Adventurous Enough (For My Own Good)

Monsterfucking hualian fic inspired by a tweet with art featuring dragon!HC and trans!XL. I had a lot of fun with this, beyond getting annoyed at myself that I was unable to write anything shorter.

Fic I wrote for Fandom Once: Fated

My foray into Ranwan, also inspired by a tweet. It was fun, but I don't think I'm likely to dip my toe back into the fandom. While 2ha is actually my favorite novel, Chu Wanning triggers the fuck out of my own issues. I love him, he's my favorite, I cannot spend a lot of time in his head.

Favorite Fic from fandom with most works: Let Me Be Your Babygirl

SVSSS canon!AU with lesbingqiu's featuring trans!Binghe. I love a lot of my works, but when I reread this I find myself wanting more. I just adore these two.

Fic I wish more people read: As Long as We're Going Down or The H(a)unting of Shen Yuan

Both of these fics (the first of which is from my previous fandom which I have long since left), are where I really explored darker themes with characters in a way that was both interesting and thrilling. It intrigues me to have villains be protagonists/love interests, and I definitely want to take my original writing in this direction in the future.

Fic I Agonized the Most Over: A Different Lie

This was a request/comm and I had a really hard time finding the right balance of new information/changes to established DYK canon. I initially was leaning towards wanting to take it to a very dark place, but had to pull back. That being said, I'm happy with where it is now.

Fic that sprang fully formed in my mind: Can't We Just Skip to the End?

This little trojan horse of a fic was supposed to be a quick three or four chapters about a time travel concept inspired by a monsterfucking bingqiu fic. As the currently EIGHT PART SERIES suggests, it did not turn out that way. That said, I banged this out in two months because it was so very there in my head. I'm constantly astonished so many people like it.

Fic I'm Proud of: Don't You Know (That I'm Yours)

My longest but also most complex fic to date, I really love DYK and am proud of how I was able to tie together elements from the very earliest chapters into the larger conclusion. Also, I will ALWAYS be proud of finding a way to make SQQ Sect Leader.

I would like to implore my non-French/francophone peers to please acknowledge and understand that we do not understand the full context and lived experience of the French people who are affected by the retirement laws. I see many people say “she liked the tweets ironically! It was a joke!” despite not speaking any French and I think it’s important to recognize that you might not be able speak about this specific topic without the full knowledge of language and culture. Sometimes it’s best to defer to people who have lived experiences and can speak about these issues in an informed way.

I personally am an American and I’m not going to pretend like I fully understand the intricacies of French politics. But as someone who is a supporter of workers rights and has taken time to read OPs responses, read articles, and even watch tiktoks from French content creators, I have the discernment to see that this law is a fundamental violation of many French people’s economic stability and rights. There are many other intersectional aspects of this law in regards to race, gender, education level, etc I cannot fully grasp either, but I recognize that what I can do is listen and learn. I also know that as someone who doesn’t speak French, I can’t recognize or understand the specifics of irony and humour in a language I don’t speak. So it’s not my place to say whether tweet likes are made it good faith or not.

I’m going to listen to a person who is affected by something on how it’s impacting their communities. I think that’s the bare minimum of being an ally.

Much love and solidarity with the French working class who continue to fight for their rights.

Also, to the anon who said “what’s so bad about Zionism”, I suggest you look up the word genocide and do some reading on settler colonialism. From the river to the sea free Palestine 🇵🇸

In fact, the problem and the injury I very clearly had when I tried to explain these tweets. It's the nonchalance of people and international people who thought they knew better than me what it meant, when they have no idea what it means and are unable to listen to someone who has been at the heart of things.

Whereas for Kelly or other wags, it's a cacophony and an cancellation every where. But here, nothing. While I was flabbergasted that she'd liked this, like really, I had people in stop-your-acting mode.

Like really, the French pain in the ass who bore us with her demonstrations. When she could have liked so many other things, so many other laws. I would have said, I hate her opinions, her problems.

Here, no. She liked a context, a policy of a dictatorial government that has beaten and gassed its people with weapons of war. As a Frenchman or woman, you can't imagine how hurtful it is to see Charles affiliated with this. And that he's piling them up right now.

One day I'll do a real post on why idolizing this girl as a pretty, discreet French-speaking influencer is so wrong, and as a French person, we really want to bash these people.

It's like asking me to forget Kelly's actions and continue to support her because she's with Max. It's exactly the same level. Brunch - the mindset shift

We all love brunch. Or maybe that's just me with the bottomless mimosas and breakfast food. Point is, brunch is great, and when you go, the goal is to have a good time.

Now, once upon a December, ya girl was a people pleaser. Shit was hard for her because she kept trying to make everyone else happy, ignored her boundaries and didn’t take care of herself.

Obviously, that wasn’t the vibe. How am I supposed to be living my dream life if I’m a slave to everyone’s whims? I couldn't. I wasn't.

Anyway, I was scrolling through tiktok early 2022 when I found a girl talking about how being a bimbo allowed her to not stress as much, and being a brunch friend was cool.

I took that and expanded it a bit. How could I apply this kind of thinking to my whole life?

How would I respond if I were to look at every situation as a brunch situation?

Now, before we even get into that, we need to know what it really looks like.

What exactly is Brunch?

If we remember, when you go to brunch, all you're there for is a good time. If your friend wants to tell you about how her life is a mess, you listen, but you're mostly having fun. Let her vent out her frustrations, and then when brunch is over, you go home and she has to resolve her issues herself.

If we take that into other situations in our lives, it could look like you not allowing the fact that your romantic interest hasn't reached out to you as yet trigger you.

Or, instead of feeling upset that there's a crackhead on your side of the street, you cross the street and keep walking.

Brunching, at it's core is about choosing when to expend your energy on events and situations in your life. By knowing when to put on your helper hat, you reserve your energy and time for the things that are actually important to you.

Perks of brunching often:

You have more time for yourself You stop taking things personally

You can spot bs faster, which allows you to choose whether to engage much earlier

You feel empowered because your energy isn't being bled on useless shit

You allow others to rise to meet you

You start feeling more comfortable with yourself

And a whole lot more

My best friend used to live with his verbally abusive mom, and prior to brunching, he'd panic a lot about everything she'd tell him.

After practicing brunching for a while, he said, "Bestie, I'm not stressed out about her anymore, even though she's still doing the same shit."

So, how do you brunch?

First things first, if you end up in a situation where you don't know if brunch applies, here's what to do:

1. Assess the situation.

- Is this your responsibility, or your business? If yes, deal with it appropriately, if no, move onto the next step.

2. Determine whether reacting would really help you or slow you down.

- Do this even if it feels uncomfortable, especially if you're used to reacting all the time.

3. Look the other way and move on.

- Quite literally this emoji 👀, then you move along with whatever you need/want to be doing at that point in time.

Example time

1. You're online and someone tweets something highly controversial. Would it be helpful to you to engage or not? You decide not to, so you scroll past it and avoid wasting 20 minutes of your day, as well as not getting angry about things you disagree with over a stranger on the internet.

2. So your manifestation hasn't shown up yet. It's nearing the time that you need it. You could panic, or you could remind yourself that you're a powerful manifestor and focus on living your life in the 3d as best as you can. Even though you haven't seen your manifestation as yet, you aren't letting something that isn't your responsibility (figuring out the how) trigger you.

Side Effects

Some of these were listed in the perks section of this post, but here are some others.

It may be uncomfortable....

especially if you're accustomed to people pleasing, or everything triggers you. As you do it more often, you'll notice that you feel more empowered, which can be scary, because you'll start connecting to your natural self.

You may immediately feel better...

Because you chose yourself, that may have been just what you needed to stop feeling so emotionally exhausted.

You may lose close friends and family

and this could be because they enjoyed how available you had been before and then don't like the fact that you're not as free for them.

You may strengthen your relationships with close friends and family

people who value you will respect your boundaries.

Prior to brunching, I used to visit my friends all the time to hang out. When I told them I was tired of always being the one to visit them, and that I wanted them to come see me, two of them did, and two of them did not. Guess who I still talk to?

Some people rise, some people, don't but most importantly, you've chosen to keep yourself feeling comfortable instead of stressing about things you can't control.

Brunching is a romanticized way of taking better care of yourself. Have fun with it, or don't, just vibe because you deserve to have peace of mind.

how i look at Rita's relationship with the others

something i noticed is that Rita's just there, a lot (more than I expected)? like the plot would demand them to be there as a witness or the script would give them exposition lines, in turn giving them quite a few interactions.

Gira:

I think in-show Gira should be the youngest followed by Rita, and among them, Rita should be the latest king to take the mantle (even though she might not be that much younger than Himeno or Yanma).

I think these are two are similar, as they are both portayed as the 'righteous' character. They both act as 'King' because of / to protect somebody else. Even though its their focus episode, Gira and Rita only had brief a dialogue, with Rita under a presumption. Rita attempting to "balance the scales" for Gira in ep8 is a more meaningful scene for the two. Rita feels a sense of responsiblity to control the Gira situation (and to find out the truth of Gira's kidnapping). Gira came to respect or learn a lesson from the other 3 kings but there never was that animosity targeted at Rita. But then… Rita still doesn't know Gira might be the one person they tried that don't hate them…

Rita's impact on Gira is seen in his speech in the cell in ep5, and the sparkles in his eyes when Rita delivered a just judgment. Gira's impact on Rita is through Morfonia that Rita begins to open up.

These two are still interacting indirectly for now and I want to see them adopt each other. Some people are shipping it but I don't see it, they are more sibling vibes to me.

Yanma:

The natural antagonism between a deliquent and an officer of the law. I need their buddy cop road trip episode. They don't like each other but have a mutal respect. ep11 illustrates the divide between Yanma and Rita. They are both pracitcal-minded, yet appraoched problems from two sides of the law. They are both stubborn yet they can work efficiently in ep12.

Himeno:

i'm not immune to heated drama between women (gn).

Okay this is really interesting because Erica and Yuzuki are friends IRL and the the stage shows has been feeding us so it's easy to project that onto the characters. From what little we've seen so far I love how Himeno is the one inviting Rita into the conversation. If you don't count Kaguragi's "Rita-tono" then Himeno is the only other royal that called them by their name. They are so going to bond over Moffun please bring them to Moffunland Himeno-sama we're counting on you.

For real, so far I don't think they have much of a relationship to speak of? They barely know each other and you could say ep5's probably the first time Himeno set foot in Gokkan. I think Himeno sees Rita as 'better an ally than an enemy' but is stunned by their screams at times. Rita… Rita counts themselves lucky they don't get sensory overload each time they go to Ishabana. Can you imagine the dissonace between 'someone go do that for ME' Himeno Ran and 'I have to take care of everything but myself no matter how hard it gets' Rita Kaniska though.

With them it could be the extrovert adopts introvert trope, but classic's classic (Himeno go make them more wagamama)

Kaguragi:

They are platform boots shopping besties. They stand next to each other a lot because sentai color-coding. WHY ARE THEY SEEMINGLY FRIENDS (What's the deal with Kaguragi and EVERYONE)

I saw some tweets that had definitely affected how I look at their first meeting. The idea that Rita had to make an official publicity tour around Chikyuu after their accession is hilarious. Kagu said to Racles that Rita has a reputation of being 'cold as ice' - I can't even tell if this man is making that up or if he has a file on every king, or he's just repeating the general concensus.

Rita does not oppose to being dragged into Kaguragi's schemes (though I doubt anyone could do that sucessfully). Do they know they are being used in Kagu and Racles's gambits? Can they and do they want to, do something about it?

Racles:

Their relationship, if there exist of, is so fascinating. Rita's not the first Gokkan King Racles had to deal with. Racles has Rita (Gokkan King)'s direct number. Rita slapped that bitch.

Racles see the Gokkan King as another cog in his scheme, another chess piece, if however that worked with the previous king, or they simply hadn't threatened Racles power, would that work with Rita?

Morfonia:

Only after "potential successor" is pointed out I notice Rita is quite indulgent of her? I mean you could read it this way, but I don't think Rita would stop her from lazing around if Morfonia can come up with a citation from the rulebook.

I'm not sure about the age gap here because IRL Morfonia's actor is 9 years older but the character looks at max Rita's age if not younger?? Either way Gokkan's throne probably has a fixed term---oh i derail

okay my headcanon is that they grew up (like ~age 10 onwards)/entered the academy together and later apprenticed to the previous ruler as successor candidates. that dynamic probably hadn't changed since day one just some immature rivalry subsided.

From the frivolous way Morfonia speaks to Rita (addresses their first name without/instead of title), you'd thought they are the closest among the King-Retainer pairs, but they still seem just co-workers? Morfonia refuses to work overtime but genuinely cares about Rita when they're hurt.

okay, so the next three are literally just titles and have not been written at all. i just have the basic, vauge idea written under them bc i always get little ideas and then froget them whoops. i do plan on writing these...eventually but they’re pretty low on the priorities list.

i came up with this idea one week where it was super rainy in my town and never let go of it. it is rotting in my docs.

i dont have a summary written for this, just like two pages of text...it’s another bartender!tom moment (my guilty pleasure) and him and reader get into a fight and it’s all really angsty. i have a bit of dialoug that’s barely coherent but i’ll give it to you anyways,

I know it's very hard to understand why it makes me so angry and why I say things about his personality just in connection with tweets. For many who haven't experienced it from the inside. Let me put this in context: she's been a student in Paris for a while. For years. So she's supposed to have experienced the full force of this story even more. This law is not just an age issue, as I said, it's approved sexism, approved that even for students who work their asses off to get good and long diplomas will have a miserable retirement. It's spit on absolutely everyone. Again, just in case, many other countries have found this law aberrant. Even they have a very late retirement age. Macron has been lynched absolutely everywhere. That's for the law itself. I think that already says a lot about the person approving it. But I can understand the fact that it's her opinion. Let's move on to the consequences of this law.

I don't think I've ever seen my country return to such a dictatorial system as after this law. I've seen things, images, pressure tactics and so on that I never thought I'd see in the land of human rights. The right to demonstrate in France is crucial, which is why you always see us grumbling. 😂 Here, all this right has been taken away from us and snatched away with such violence that we're even terrified of going to manifestants. Not because of them. Because of the police, and we're not even sure it was really the police that Macron launched. There's a lot of hidden stuff in this story too. We were treated to an extremely violent, racist brigade that literally mutilated defenseless demonstrators and, above all, journalists. It was a real beating. It's a miracle no one died...

The biggest universities, where the sons and daughters of the wealthy often go. There were even blockades for weeks, and manifestations. We were close to a second revolution or civil war. I'm not even kidding. I've seen places in my university that never protest, blocked off for weeks on end. Putting exams and diplomas at risk for students. In short, that's why I say it's not just the rich who are for this law. The rich were also against it, to tell you how aberrant this law is. 🙃 I know what kind of people like these tweets. I know what it means, liking a parody tweet thinking it was serious. The tweet that shocks me the most means that the harder you work, the younger it will make you. So yes, when you know it's parody and you're against it, it's pretty funny. But here, it's not. Liking it, I'm sorry to say, is going to shock a lot of people, but it's spitting and approving of the means used to get this law passed and the situation it's put the country in. Especially for someone who's been taking advantage of the system for years, and who'll be able to quietly go elsewhere to avoid having to deal with this law.

I'm not asking you to approve or disapprove of this law by going into detail like this. I'm telling you what these likes imply, what it says about the person. And that it's anything but innocent, naive, gullible and a slip of the tongue. Likening these tweets is to behave in the same degrading, vicious and arrogant way as the government of the day. This is my vision, even though I'm in the best position to speak because I've lived it from the inside. It's the first time I've been so distressed and in fear because of a law. So no, liking this is not an innocent, nor a mistake, nor a family inheritance. It's conscious and expresses to me this person's inner self. 💀

She knows very well that liking this isn't just approving the law. It's laughing in the face of crucial rights that people have put their lives on the line for (the right to protest, the right to a decent pension). You said it yourself, she's not stupid. She knows very well that we can't acquiesce to this law, without the consequences and how it was passed. She's only naive and uneducated when it suits you to avoid seeing how problematic she is. However, she's incredibly intelligent when it comes to extolling these qualities. It's just too easy.
