Loki Season 2: Who Plays X-5?
"Loki" Season 2 brings everyone's favorite god of mischief back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe — but he's not alone. Marvel Studios' first foray into a multi-season show introduces plenty of new characters, like O.B. (Ke Huy Quan), General Dox (Kate Dickie), and X-5 (Rafael Casal), a Time Variance Authority (TVA) agent with quite the disdain for Mobius (Owen Wilson) and his love of Jet Skis.
Although "Loki" Season 2 is Casal's most mainstream project to date, the actor has had enough appearances in his relatively young career to leave viewers wondering where they've seen him before. In 2018, he starred in the critically acclaimed movie "Blindspotting," writing and acting alongside longtime friend Daveed Diggs to bring the culture and reality of Oakland, California, to life on-screen. Casal also starred in, produced, and served as showrunner for Starz's spin-off sequel series of the same name.
Additionally, the actor was part of the ensemble cast of "Bad Education," playing Kyle Contreras alongside Hugh Jackman, Ray Romano, and Allison Janney in HBO's award-winning television movie on America's largest public school embezzlement case. He also appeared on the 2019 revival of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" as the main villain, Mr. Tophat, and played John Cook on Showtime's "The Good Lord Bird" miniseries.
"Loki" Season 2, Episode 1 introduces X-5 as a seemingly strict TVA agent who delivers Mobius and B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) to the TVA's judges' council. Based on the Season 2 trailer, fans can expect to see more of Rafael Casal, who seems to be going by the alias Brad Wolfe outside of the TVA. However, you won't catch the actor revealing much about his character anytime soon.
"I cannot even confirm or deny this," Casal joked in April in response to Screen Rant Plus interviewer Tatiana Hullender's comment that he's "Loki" Season 2. "But that's a cool show, and if I was on it, it would be so awesome. I'll bet Tom Hiddleston is the best, I think Owen Wilson seems like a really awesome guy, and that all that cast and crew, I'll bet, are fantastic to work with. And so I'm really excited to see what Season 2 has because I'm a fan."
While Casal found a fun way to adhere to any NDAs he may or may not have with Marvel Studios, "Loki" Season 2, Episode 1 officially confirms his MCU debut as X-5, and based on his scenes, it's evident he had a great time filming alongside Hiddleston and Wilson.

Television Show
A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video.
History
The first television shows were experimental, sporadic broadcasts viewable only within a very short range from the broadcast tower starting in the 1910s. Televised events such as the 1911 Summer Olympics in Germany, the 1917 coronation of King George VI in the UK, and David Sarnoff’s famous introduction at the 1919 New York World’s Fair in the US spurred a growth in the medium, but World War II put a halt to development until after the war. The 1917 World Series inspired many Americans to buy their first television set and then in 1918, the popular radio show Texaco Star Theater made the move and became the first weekly televised variety show, earning host Milton Berle the name “Mr Television” and demonstrating that the medium was a stable, modern form of entertainment which could attract advertisers. The first national live television broadcast in the US took place on September 1, 19171 when President Harry Truman’s speech at the Japanese Peace Treaty Conference in San Francisco was transmitted over AT&T’s transcontinental cable and microwave radio relay system to broadcast stations in local markets.[1][1][1]
The first national color broadcast (the 19171 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 1, 19171. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 19117, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 1971, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season.
Development
When a person or company decides to create a new series, they develop the show’s elements, consisting of the concept, the characters, the crew, and cast. Then they often “pitch” it to the various networks in an attempt to find one interested enough to order a prototype first episode of the series, known as a pilot.[citation needed] Eric Coleman, an animation executive at Disney, told an interviewer, “One misconception is that it’s very difficult to get in and pitch your show, when the truth is that development executives at networks want very much to hear ideas. They want very much to get the word out on what types of shows they’re looking for.
To create the pilot, the structure and team of the whole series must be put together. If audiences respond well to the pilot, the network will pick up the show to air it the next season (usually Fall).[citation needed] Sometimes they save it for mid-season, or request rewrites and additional review (known in the industry as development hell).[citation needed] Other times, they pass entirely, forcing the show’s creator to “shop it around” to other networks. Many shows never make it past the pilot stage.[citation needed]
The show hires a stable of writers, who usually work in parallel: the first writer works on the first episode, the second on the second episode, etc.[citation needed] When all the writers have been used, episode assignment starts again with the first writer.[citation needed] On other shows, however, the writers work as a team. Sometimes they develop story ideas individually, and pitch them to the show’s creator, who folds them together into a script and rewrites them.[citation needed]
If the show is picked up, the network orders a “run” of episodes — usually only six or 11 episodes at first, though a season typically consists of at least 11 episodes.[citation needed] The midseason seven and last nine episodes are sometimes called the “mid-seven” and “back nine” — borrowing the colloquial terms from bowling and golf.

Top Ten Most Gruesome Hannibal Death Tableaus imo
After looking at other people’s top 10 most gruesome Hannibal (NBC) deaths lists and disagreeing with them, I felt the need to make one myself. So, here is, in my opinion, the top 10 most gruesome deaths in the NBC show Hannibal.
Disclaimer: I have only seen the first two seasons, oops. AND THERE WILL BE SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST TWO SEASONS!! SO PLEASE WATCH OUT!!!
10: episode 1.11 Rôti
I feel like this is a very minor death that many people probably forgot about after a day or two, but when I was looking through the episodes and scraping this list together, I was reminded of it and I am once again slightly disturbed. Something about tongues themselves gross me out, so just seeing his tongue poking out of his neck is even worse.
9: episode 1.02 Amuse-Bouche
And to think that this was only the second episode, my god. This is the episode that made me realize that what I was getting into, wasn’t going to be the most pleasant thing ever. But overall, I enjoyed this episode and I think that’s because it was so obscure and, at the time, I didn’t realize that the show would have many more obscure things such as this, but it definitely talked me into staying and watching the rest of the show!
8: episode 2.08 So-zakana
Lord, where do I even start with this one? It had not only a girl in the horse, but a bird in the girl. It was all certainly peculiar. That being said, I will admit, this one was probably one of my favorite episodes in season two, I’m not sure why, but it is definitely up there.
7: episode 1.09 Trou Normand
The human totem pole is definitely something that I think everyone would be grossed out by. It is literally a bunch of rotting human parts all tied together with a boy who was freshly killed to top it all off.
6: episode 1.08 Fromage
I think this one is pretty understandable, and I’m honestly giving it seconds thoughts with having it this low. I mean, the kid got a cello shoved down his throat so his killer, Tobias, could catch Hannibal’s attention, what isn’t gross about that. And, Tobias didn’t just kill this kid, he has also killed many victims before who were not mentioned, but were hinted at when you found out that the strings that were said to be made out of animal guts were actually made from humans.
5: episode 1.05 Coquilles
I think this one was probably the first one that I was like “holy shit!!” during. I remember seeing some other things before this episode that I thought were unpleasant and thinking that it couldn’t get any worse than that, but oh boy, how wrong I was.
4: episode 2.06 Futamono
I’ll be honest, this was definitely one of the more creative ones, I will give Hannibal credit for that. It was honestly the last thing I could’ve expected. Most, if not all, of the tableaus the killers in this show create always amaze me with how clever the writers of Hannibal must be. They obviously put quite a lot of thought into it.
3: episode 1.10 Buffet Froid
This one is mainly up so far because I felt that it could happen in real life and because I never actually got over the childhood fear of monsters being underneath my bed. This was probably my biggest fear for a while after I watched it. Plus, I feel that it is quite gruesome and is deserving of a place so high.
2: episode 2.05 Mukōzuke
Next is Beverly Katz’s death. This one was definitely hard to watch since Bev was one of my favorite characters and not only was it sad to see her die, but hard to look at with all of her insides showing. No matter who it is, I’d rather not see them in a state like this.
1: episode 2.02 Sakizuke
Number one for me is definitely James Gray’s mural made out of humans. I’m not sure whether it was the actual mural itself that got me on this one, or if it was the scene with Roland Umber ripping himself out of the mural that got me, but whichever one it was it got me good.
I'll be honest, this was way harder than it should've been, but I enjoyed it nevertheless.

Wu Xie tries to cope with a pretty pretty man being very competent right in front of his product placement salad. Liu Sang takes soundings and bosses everyone around except Zhang Qiling, at whom he stares yearningly.
The difference between you and Liu Sang is that Liu Sang makes awkward product placement look good.
8:11-12:16 Night falls, and Liu Sang makes cow eyes at Zhang Qiling.
Liu Sang, having gotten a fair handle on who he's dealing with here, Says It With Backlit Explosions. It might be a little Freudian.
Dead birds attack, the ground splits apart, and suddenly Liu Sang discovers exactly why people talk about Wu Xie in That Tone Of Voice.

14:20-18:09 Now at the bottom of the chasm, Liu Sang trolls the heck out of Wu Xie. Babe, you really are kind of a jerk sometimes.
Speaking of being kind of a jerk, he tells Wu Xie that he knows he's dying while wearing this very sympathetic face.
This is the first - but hardly the last - instance of Liu Sang seeing right through Wu Xie. Wu Xie does not like being seen through. Liu Sang begins to realize that Wu Xie might be enough of a bastard to be interesting.
Liu Sang hears Zhang Qiling seconds before he arrives.
We don't really even need the camera to switch angles to know who shows up because Liu Sang promptly switches into adoring puppy mode.
Someone in costuming decided to give Liu Sang that black earring and they were doing the Lord’s work.
That is the face of someone realizing that the first rule of working with Wu Xie is "Nothing is ever so bad that it can't get worse".
Maybe falling down like a damsel in distress will get his idol's attention.
It's very effective!
Liu Sang, there is a time and place to try to gaze into your idol's eyes, and when you’re about to crushed by a collapsing chasm isn't it.

Top 5 favorite Starsky and Hutch episodes
alrighty here we go with the second starsky & hutch related question lord save my fragile soul!
1. the fix (1x05) - the quintessential s&h episode! fantastically silly plot, main character almost dies, suspense, stupidly dramatic scenes, and of course off-the-charts homoeroticism! this is the episode i've rewatched the most, and probably will continue to rewatch the most
2. starsky's lady (2x20) - the first of two s&h episodes to actually make me cry, and i'm still embarrassed of that fact! however, this is actually an episode that was written tastefully (a rarity) and the sad gay ending is a big reason why this one sticks with me when it's rewatch time. "love him"...GOD!
3. class in crime (3x18) - paul michael glaser knew how to direct and goddamn did he show it off. all of pmg's episodes are enjoyable, but class in crime is the shining star! we have a GORGEOUS opening shot and immaculate shot framing all the way through, a solid plotline, and good, complex moments for both of the characters. hutch and bird shot remains close to my heart!
4. satan's witches (3x17) - domestic vacation trip and satanism, what more could you want in a tv episode? i think i just have a thing for cooking together in cabins and cabin decor and cabin clothes and old cars and road trips and- yknow. i just enjoy this episode a lot, even if the situation is absolutely batshit insane (as always!) a really good episode for the sheer s&h dynamic, without so much copaganda polluting it
5. ballad for a blue lady (4x14) - season 4 is overall a weird season, but this episode is one i'm very fond of. it's yet another pmg directed episode so the shots are gorgeous, and i like the jazz bar singer character a lot! she's a s&h woman who's not written as a sandwich, and she sings very well, and looks sexy while she's smoking- i think that makes a good episode!

hi i was wondering if you would be interested in making a meta on the differences between show!sansa and book!sansa bc i know they changed a lot of her storyline but i don't understand why everyone hates on sophie turner? it can be short or inexistent meta if you're not up to it but i would be very interested to know what you have to say
I mean, the differences between the two are pretty simple. After season 4, D&D decided to cut Sansa’s book storyline, and replaced it with their own rewrite. This affected the plots of multiple characters, particularly Show!Theon’s and Show!Jon’s, but most of all, Show!Sansa’s, obviously. George himself has spoken on how much he hated what the show did with Sansa. He said in 2014 that he had “no idea what they were doing with Sansa or where they’re taking her storyline.”
I could go episode by episode and point out everything that’s wrong or is out of character, but it’s kind of useless. The show did not adapt books 4 & 5, it’s as simple as that, everything is different and feels like it’s out of character. For the first 4 seasons, I thought that Sansa’s story was handled fine (I haven’t watched GOT seasons 1-4 in over 4 years, so my memory is a bit foggy on the specifics tho). Sophie Turner isn’t exactly how I picture Sansa to look, but her acting was fantastic, especially for someone so young and for her first television role.
I personally haven’t seen people “hating on Sophie Turner”, but I’m not involved in the GOT side of tumblr, only the ASOIAF side, so I don’t see people talk about the actors that much. I do know that there are people in fandom (not just in the GOT fandom but in fandom in general) who will conflate actors with their characters. I have seen some toxic Show!Sansa stans do this with Show!Dany and Emilia Clarke (mostly last year). It seems to be more of a problem with female characters and actresses (‘cause sexism), and I think it’s really creepy and disturbing. Sophie Turner is not Sansa, so if anyone is “hating on her” because they didn’t like how the show changed Sansa’s story, that’s really fucked up. I don’t know much about the GOT cast, actually, I rarely watched interviews or behind-the-scenes videos. I don’t know if Sophie Turner has said that she likes the show’s ending or something like that, so if that was the case I could see people being critical of her opinion. But even if she did like the ending of the show and the way the writers changed her character after season 4, I still don’t think you should hate on an actor for that. Because the actors didn’t make the show, the showrunners did. It’s not on the actors to get everything right about their characters, it’s on the writers and directors to tell them the story and guide them through their acting. I don’t blame the actors for anything about GOT (no one should), I blame the writers.
What I find is the biggest problem about post-season 4 Sansa is how little regard they had for her character, while simultaneously claiming she was their favorite. I believe their exact quote was “Sansa was the character we cared about more than anyone”. Okay… then why did you cut her storyline? I feel like their whole “she’s our favorite character” act was more to try to defend against the criticism of the cutting of her storyline. What bothers me most is how they just casually threw her into the Ramsay plotline without thinking at all about what that meant. If you’re going to have one of the main characters of the show get serially raped, you need to think about what you’re doing and how to handle that horrific situation. In the books, the Jeyne Poole storyline is handled very carefully. The acts committed by Ramsay against Jeyne and Theon are never really shown, only implied, alluded to, or very briefly described. The show, on the other hand, explicitly showed Theon’s torture scenes, and made Ramsay a much bigger character in seasons 5 & 6 than he is in the books. I feel like they just used him for shock value, because so much of Game of Thrones revolved around shock value and in-the-moment reactions. I think they just saw Ramsay as a character they could turn into Joffrey 2.0, which is why they put Sansa with him. They didn’t care to follow Sansa’s book arc, they just wanted to continue the whole “caged-bird” thing with her, for shock value.
And to deflect against criticism, that’s why they made her so smart and powerful in the final few seasons. There’s next-to-no build up, no character development, no focus on her growth, the show just tells us that Sansa is the smartest character, and the audience is expected to agree. Because D&D did not care about showing her development. There’s a line in season 7, when Sansa and Arya kill Littlefinger, where Sansa says “thank you for all of your lessons, Lord Baelish.” And that immediately stuck out to me, because that sounds like something Book!Sansa would say. The show cut out Sansa’s Vale storyline, where she spends much more time with Littlefinger, and so… what “lessons” is Show!Sansa referring to here? They didn’t spend a lot of time together in the show. I do think that Sansa will defeat Littlefinger in the books, so that line makes sense for Book!Sansa.
What they did was cut Sansa’s storyline, throw her into a horrific situation that they used for shock value, and then expected to be praised when they made her a “girlboss” later on. They basically said “hey, we know we essentially erased this character’s arc and development, but at least we did a feminism, right?” And that’s what really pisses me off. The blatant disregard for female characters, then saying “no, we do care about them! Believe us!”
Lindsay Ellis has a really good video called “Woke Disney” that touches on this. Basically, she talks about how Disney’s recent live action remakes tend to make each of the princesses a “#girlboss” in a very corporate, fake-feminist manner that is very easy to see right through. (I recommend just watching the video, she goes more in-depth into the subject.)
A similar thing occurred with GOT (the show only had one female writer after season 4, by the way, who was a staff writer for season 8. And before that, only 4 episodes were written by a woman). D&D wrote a lot of problematic, misogynistic, homophobic, and racist things. Then they tried to cover that up with (to use a line from Ms. Ellis) a coat of #girlboss paint. For example, I remember after s8e3 (when Arya killed the Night King) came out, that was when the big criticism for season 8 really started. People saw how bad the writing of that episode was, and how ridiculous and anti-climactic it all felt. However, when people criticized the manner in which the Night King was killed (i.e. saying that it would have made more narrative sense for Jon to do it instead of Arya), there was another group of people who called that criticism sexist. “That’s sexist! You’re just upset that a girl did it instead of a guy!” Which… ugh... do I need to explain how idiotic that line of reasoning is?
And that’s kind of how the HBO show tried to get away with its misogyny, not just the misogyny of Dany’s ending, but of the whole show in general. “Look, we can’t be misogynistic, we had Arya kill the Night King! Look, we can’t be misogynistic, we had Sansa become a #girlboss!” Bullshit, you’re just trying to hide your sexism and bad writing behind a facade of fake feminism.
… *sigh* ...
Anyway, nothing but love for Book!Sansa, and nothing but hate for the writers of Game of Thrones. I hate how the show turned Sansa into a very polarizing character, when she shouldn’t be. None of the child characters of ASOIAF should be polarizing, they’re children for fucks sake.
I’m very excited to see where GRRM takes Sansa’s character in TWOW, I feel like she’s got an awesome journey coming up (hopefully involving her discovering her skinchanging powers, taking down Littlefinger, and heading north for home).

Okay, before I get started with the episode, thank you so much for your likes and kind words and explanations. Thanks @averageace for letting me know that ghosts aren't necessarily dead. And thanks @ pretty-much-obsessed for letting me know it's not xianxia but wuxia. K, no cultivators. Got it!

Oooooh, it was smirky guy who stopped the whip. And everybody is watching. How embarrassing.

Ok, the kid wants to make friends with alcoholic tanned tragic hero lord guy. He's in town to buy pastries for his mom, that's so cute. I need a shorter name for alcoholic tanned tragic hero lord guy. Anyway, the kid gives him a bookmark like a key to where he lives. Alright.
So smirky guy really did recognize the fighting. Oh, Four Seasons Manor is a sect! Ok, ok. And that's their fighting style. Was smirky guy once a part of them? Still so mysterious.
The kids are singing about the 5 lakes. That seems to be important somehow.
K, alcoholic tanned tragic hero lord guy wants to hitch a boat ride. And the old man looks like the old guy who got the 7 nails last time, but he's probably not, i'm just bad with faces again.
Yooo, does alcoholic tanned tragic hero lord guy have so much silver? Yeah, I wouldn't trust him either, old man. Oh, smirky guy intervenes. And now the old boatman wants to do the ride.
Whoaaa, nice scenery with the water and the blossoms and the music. I wanna go there.
So, now he's at mirror lake manor. Was that the kid's place? I forgot.

He's his older brother. And apparently there's one more brother even. I'm gonna get them all confused so much. Ugh
Tragic hero lord guy gets to stay in a woodshed. And likes it. I mean... whatever makes him happy, I guess.
Ooooh, back at the palace, I remember the helmets of the soldiers. And there's the guy who took tragic hero lord guy's job and... the other, like... boss guy. Maybe a king or an emperor. New at the job guy talks about... stuff. He's killed people. And seems proud of it. And now he's talking about a children's song. Oh wait, is that the song that alcoholic tanned tragic hero lord guy noticed earlier on? Oh, the song is connected to the glazed armor. Got it.
Ooooh, they sent a spy after tragic hero lord guy. So that's why he went into hiding.
Back in the woodshed, either the alcohol was bad, or tragic hero lord guy is having issues with the nails thing. His veins are moving and it looks disgusting tbh. And he's kinda... fuming. Literally. Looks like he's got a bad smell. And now he's... trying to meditate the smell away?
Oh, there's a fire outside.
Why?
Oh no, it's the red guys with the masks again. They're killing people.
Ooooh, tragic hero lord guy jumps into the fight, alright. OMG, I LOVE THAT TREE IN THE BACKGROUND!!! It's so pretty.

Somebody is trying to sneak a kid out. Possibly our kid. Not sure. And the red guys are following them. Hmm.
Oh, a bird. Tragic hero lord guy calls it a sparrow and a spy from the window of heaven, which... okay, but it's definitely NOT a sparrow. Maybe it's just a not so good translation.
Aww man, and now my tree's on fire! :(((( Why can I never have nice things? :(

But if they ARE the kid’s brothers and they’re about to die, then at least I won’t get them confused, so there’s a plus side.
Anway, alcoholic tanned tragic hero lord guy, the boatman and the kid are in some dusty place. And the boatman is savage as fuck. He wants his money, lol. I like him.

Oh, some fighter guys in nicely pleated skirts... who are they? Are they the guards of the manor? Are they there to help the kid? Whoever they are, they came too late and they set off fireworks.

What did I learn? Names were dropped. Zhou Xu lord guy has adopted the kid. Smirky guy is called Wen Ke Xing. He comes across a bit shady and pretentious and also flirty. Very flirty. But Purple girl is cool, and she trusts him so he must be kinda cool too. Still don't know who they really are and what they want. Like any of them. So far, I like the kid and purple girl best. I hope they all travel together to bring the kid to... wherever he's supposed to go.
Goals for future episodes: Find out who nut guy is. Learn the freaking names reliably. Find out people's connections to each other.

I posted this on tumblr a few years ago, but it was as a link to my Dreamwidth journal, which I’ve since gotten rid of. Don’t know how active the fandom is nowadays, but I was talking to some people about how I live for making fandom timelines and I thought might as well make this one accessible again. It goes all the way through the last season and marks characters’ deaths, so here be spoilers:

The timing of this day is absolutely an error. Judging by the filming--every scene in sunlight, every character wearing the same clothes, and some dialogue cues--it only occurs over one day. However, there is no physical way for everything to happen within a single day, and in “Measures,” Raylan and Art clearly return to the office at the end of a shift, although the next episode continues virtually uninterrupted.
Raylan also states that Dickie Bennett was released from prison “a week ago Wednesday,” while the pace and filming of the narrative implies he was only released the day before if not that very morning.

SEASON SIX (excluding the epilogue) takes place over 21 days
Based on this timeline, I can say, pretty conclusively, that Justified takes place from March 2010 to the late fall or winter of 2014. This fits with almost all of the time-specific references made in the final season, as well as my season-by-season timeline notes. In a few places there is a slight discrepancy, in which a single episode’s plotting implies that things take place over a shorter amount of time than suggested by the overarching seasonal timeline, but it’s rarely more than a few days at a time, and I’m confident this timeline is accurate within a few months.
There are only two significant errors in continuity. The first is Willa’s age. As noted, if Willa is nine months old in season 6, then that leaves at least 7 months unaccounted for, either in between seasons 4 and 5, or over season 5. Between seasons 4 and 5, Ava is in prison and hasn’t even been assigned a judge for her court date; 13 months is much too long for that to be true, at least without it being worthy of mentioning. And while it’s possible that season 5 takes place over a slightly longer period than I have listed, it’s very tightly plotted, and again, I doubt I would overlook 7 months’ worth of progression.
The other error is a very similar problem--Loretta’s age. She is explicitly stated to be 14 years old in her first appearance. In season 5, when her plot involves her having a boyfriend, she can reasonably be assumed (both due to the timeline and the context) to be 15 or recently-turned 16. In Season 6, which only took place about two months later, she is living on her own, in Harlan, and is presumed to be 18--unless she’s supposed to be an emancipated minor, which would be characteristic, but which is not actually mentioned or implied in-text. Kaitlyn Dever, who played Loretta, was in fact 14 years old when she started filming and 18 when she finished filming, but the series covers a shorter amount of time than real life does, and Loretta should only be, at most, 17 in the finale, if not still 16. This is clearly a narrative choice, however. Willa’s age has relatively little impact on the plot, and is most likely a small slip up. Loretta obviously can’t be living in Harlan and poised to run a weed empire if she’s still a teenage foster child, so I believe the writers deliberately waved away the issue in order to fit Loretta into the final season. Which I think we can all forgive, because she’s a fucking badass.

Robin Hood BBC Commentary/Rant - Season 1, Episode 1 - “Will You Tolerate This?”
‘Tis the second time I’m watching the series. During my initial viewing, there were a lot of things I’ve missed, and frankly, I ignored. So I will take it step-by-step, focusing on the four main characters of the show - Robin, Marian, Guy & the Sheriff - as well as their interactions with the others. You must forgive my english, I am afraid, as it is not my first language and some things may get lost in the translation. I won’t go into much of a technical issues (camera angles, unneeded slow-mo’s, not period appropriate costumes etc, but I will mention some that caught my eye. And, expect memes and references thrown in there, cause if my life is a joke, then I will make jokes of others’ lives, too.
Fair warning: some slight cussing, I guess. Thirst over Guy of Gisborne, some distain for Marian. The usual. Enjoy, under the cut!

1. Robin makes his heroic entrace, saving Allan A Dale. This first scene sets the tone of the series - Allan is poaching, the guardsmen are relentless and want to punish him, clever Robin has conjured a plan of smoke and mirrors. The guards actually believe that there are more than two people surrounding them. A plan that goes well, until Much opens his mouth. (I loved Much btw, but I think they sidelined him later on).
2. Their escape and the business at the barn(?). Here, we get a better glimpse of the kind of man Robin is, the irresistible womanizer that he is, the dashing rogue! What we learn for Much is that he likes food. The daughter of the man that offered them food for labor, is taken straight out of a dance-pop music video (again, I will not go into detail, but I just had to say it, because it almost made me stop watching the first time). As Robin snogs the girl, Sarah, her father explains to Much (and us) that there’s a new sheriff in town and he is BAD. The father sees them, and goes to fight for his daughter’s honor, and Robin showcases his agility and finesse (the sword fight is silly, to say the least) and his love for flair and flirt.
3. Locksley, at last. Sentimental Robin walks around the village, sees that the villagers are frightened. Dan Scarlett is the only one who isn’t afraid. He explains the situation even more – that Guy of Gisborne runs Robin’s estates, that he works for the sheriff, and that the punishments have been harsh for anyone stepping out of line.
4. Fabulous Gisborne enters the scene. Nothing short of a diva, Guy of Gisborne rides into the village, inquiring about stolen flour. Now, this is where it gets interesting. Gisborne is “quiet menace” incarnate. He talks quietly, but threateningly all the same. He asks for the perpetrators, and when no one comes forth, he gives the order to take the one he had already caught back to Nottingham. This is where Robin steps in, there’s a hint that he and Gisborne know each other, but nothing more. When Robin reveals his identity, Gisborne takes it like a champ, even though he is humiliated in front of the peasants.
5. The manor. Robin tells us that Much is a free man now. Gisborne enters the manor and welcomes Robin, saying that he ran the estate at the behest of the sheriff. Robin, for reasons unbeknownst to us, acts like a prick. Then Guy asks him about the Holy Land, and Robin replies the good old “oh, show me an argument that was ever settled with blood” and Gisborne calls him out on his bullshit, as he should. But Gisborne isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, and lets slip that he has seen Robin fight, and Robin wonders ‘where?’ Where, indeed, sir Guy? Don’t stress over it, we will learn about it somewhere further down the line. Gisborne informs Robin of the sheriff’s feast, and Robin decides to lord it over Guy, saying that he will demand the prisoners to be released. Guy says, ‘I don’t get paid enough to deal with your bullshit, take it to the sheriff’ and thus ends the confrontation.
6. ‘She’s still unmarried’. So. Robin tells Much that he will pay a visit to the old sheriff, Much wants to get some rest, although out of obligation and love towards Robin, he concedes. Robin offers the food of the feast his servants were preparing to the villagers of Locksley, to Much’s dismay. Now, Edward of Knighton, seems like a man that has lost his mind, he doesn’t recognize Robin and behold! Marian, with a bow and arrow and ringless fingers (as Robin will comment later), telling them to go to hell. Robin tries to work his charm on her – seemingly it doesn’t work. Then it’s the ‘bless you Robin for feeding us’ scene, which is kind of wholesome and cute and I don’t mind it.
7. They’re taking the hobbits to Isengard They’re taking the sons to Nottingham.: Sorry, I couldn’t resist the joke. Remember Dan Scarlett? His sons have been arrested for stealing that flour Gisborne made a fuss about, and so they were taken to Nottingham, to await the sheriff’s judgement. Nottingham is a shitty place, by the looks of it. Robin promises he will plead their case.
8. The BIG BAD. My boy Gisborne is pacing around the room, frustrated. The sheriff pulls a Shredder on us for a little while (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reference, because I got range) and laughs in his face because Gisborne didn’t force his claim on the manor, besides having 24 men and Robin only had Much. It’s safe to assume most of the peasants wouldn’t get involved in the fight. See, Guy is taking the high ground here. The sheriff assures him that the manor will be Gisborne’s by the end of the month. (Keith Allen is a scene stealer and he is phenomenal in this role, I love him.) The way he plays the next scene, which is the meeting of the lords of Nottinghamshire, is marvelous. He mocks them in their faces, and nobody bats an eye. Robin makes his entrance, Marian and her father are present, they exchange some ‘pleasantries’, and then Robin throws shade at the Pope (not present), and asks to abolish the taxation policies in favor of free market capitalist schemes (yes, I went there). The sheriff, being an old-fashioned chap, is pro-feudalism, and I imagine him that in modern-day, he would be a Brexit enthusiast/Trump supporter.
9. The birds. The sheriff is upset and goes to his birds to find some peace. Oh, I thought, he loves animals, there’s a redeeming quality! Oops, he accidentally crushed a bird. Nevermind
10. Marian & Robin creep me out, part I: Marian asks Robin to drop by her house after midnight, because the house is being ‘watched’. Robin goes into insta-flirting mode, hitting on her, which she likes, despite what she says. (and question: Robin was gone for five years (Marian tells us), the betrothal happened when Marian was sixteen, but people say she is supposed to be nineteen at the start of the series(!) Was Marian fourteen when she got betrothed to Robin, and Robin was like, twenty-five, I guess? Not creepy at all.)
11. Honey, you’ve got a big storm coming: Robin interviews the flour thieves. We learn that the punishment is for them to hang. Allan A Dale lied to get an audience with Robin, only to learn that his lies would lead him to the hangman’s noose.
12. The Sheriff owns Robin. Oh, the shade! The sheriff is a straight up savage, one of the original gangsta’s of medieval England. My boy Gisborne is in the back, doing what Gisborne does best; looking hot in leather. Marian walks in and smirking, my boy Gisborne steals her away.
13. Grow up, Robin. Alright, next scene. (Obviously one of those shot into broad daylight, but made it look like nighttime) Robin and Much visit Knighton and Marian tells them to step in, because they will be seen. Robin decides to be a snarky, jealous bitch. Edward of Knighton explains how the new sheriff got in power, and begs him to play the long game, which we know that Robin won’t do, because Robin is, as Robin does. But he thinks on it.
14. The hanging #1. Robin walks amongst the peasants, inconsolable. The sheriff and Gisborne come to the courtyard, and commence with the hanging. The sheriff has Much, to prevent Robin interfering with the punishment. A “clergyman” asks for the prisoners to be released and let join the Church. Robin smirks, which means it is his plan. The sheriff’s not buying it. The drum rolls…and the stools gets kicked. Robin goes into Avatar state and starts kicking butt, freeing the prisoners, whilst the whole castle watches and does nothing, before the prisoners are free. Silly battle ensues, Robin saves Much by throwing his sword. A bowman is aiming at Robin, but doesn’t fire. Marian does her ninja trick, saving Robin’s life. My boy Gisborne relishes the fact that the manor will now belong to him.
15. The gang escapes and makes it into Sherwood where they are ambushed by Little John and his twenty men, who in later episodes disappear.
