You know, I didn't really care about Voyager at first but now that I got to learn a little more, she's slowly beginning to grow on me and will probably be in my comforts/faves list sooner or later. WHICH SUCKS BECAUSE SHE HASN'T COME HOME YET it's always those gacha game characters I don't have I swearrrr
Anyways here's a WIP that I hopefully won't scrap but will most likely not but probably will behsjsmamjejsks

Frisky Dingo #25: “Differences are Put Slightly Aside” | March 24, 2008 - 12:15AM | S02E12
The Frisky Dingo finale is finally here. Please note: I never did watch those Xtacles pilots, so I have no idea if they continued the story at all, or if they were their own thing or what, but this is the final episode of the Adult Swim television series “Frisky Dingo”. Did you like it?
In this episode? I’m glad you asked. Val, the Decepticles, Simon, Killface, and Xander are all roughly where we left them in the last episode, outside the hotel where Wendell has taken off with the Annihilatrix key and coupling, riding the freshly born ant monster baby like a horsey. The baby grows rapidly throughout the episode, until it’s basically a Godzilla-sized monster.
Eventually Killface and Xander form an uneasy alliance to intercept Wendell, taking off in the Killface-mobile (a sensible blue hatchback). In the car we get some goofy conversations about a ringtone called cat party, a ringtone called DOG party, falling deserts, and celebrity prankster Richard Kind. In the car we find out that Killface didn’t realize that Xander was Awesome X, and he’s only slightly bemused by that fact.
There’s also a tossed-off line about the oceans drying up, which I genuinely didn’t understand either the first time I watched this nor this last time. I literally googled it and got to a transcript of the episode generated by the DVD subtitle track. It’s a joke about Xander hearing “the C is gone” and thinking it means “the sea is gone”. Didn’t get it until seeing it spelled out for me. Like, I remember vaguely thinking that was somehow a plot device of the show, was that Earth no longer had an ocean in the Frisky Dingo universe.
The C has been broken off the side of Crewes Enterprises and is being used to steer Cody II. Wendell eventually ditches his robot pants figuring out that he’s being tracked. This leads to an uncomfortable joke about him rubbing his cock and balls against the moist, soft skin of the monster baby’s fontanelle.
I yearn for this time period for one reason: I feel like the entire world is neurotically politicizing every tasteless (or tasteful, for that matter) joke there is in some bid to be the most correct, and everyone accuses each other of being a bad actor. It’s very hard to just say you don’t or do like a joke that swings for the fences in this way without coming off disingenuous. I remember thinking Wendell rubbing his pud on a baby was moronic and base at the time. I still do, but I remembered it going on much longer than it actually did. It’s basically just a scene. Anyway, this scene proves that everyone in the entertainment industry loves molesting monster babies.
I’m leaving out plenty! There are entire subplots I didn’t talk about at all! Detours, too! So sue me! But: I forgot how this episode/series ended: an alien spacecraft shows up and destroys the monster. When it lands it’s revealed to belong to the same species of alien that Killface belongs to. His mother is on board, and she demands to know why he hasn’t destroyed Earth yet. “Funny story” he says, sheepishly. END.
I guess it’s kinda nice that this series is a bit of a recursive loop. Presumably he’s about to tell her the funny story, starting with S01E01 of Sealab 2021, continuing on through the finale “Legacy of Laughter”, and then interrupting that show’s theme song to bring us S01E01 of Frisky Dingo. You can never stop watching these bad shows, even if you try. I mean, I’m finding that to be true for myself, anyway.
Ultimately, I do think Frisky Dingo grew on me and the quality did go up. Having not seen The Xtacles, I feel a little bit at a loss as far as writing some definitive closing sentence about the show. I don’t know if this IS the proper ending, or if this is basically it, or if they somehow referenced a “true ending” on Archer or some shit. I might have welcomed a third proper season, but as it stands I’m glad to have this show mostly under my belt. Onto Xtacles, I guess. Eventually.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters “and Television” (March 30, 2008 - 11:30PM)
On March 30th, 2008, Adult Swim aired a special treat: Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters “and Television”. This was a legit screening of the movie on TV. The last time they claimed that they’d show us the movie on TV was the previous year when it hadn’t reached theaters yet. They did show it, but shortly after it started they shrunk it down into a little box in the corner which played over their normal programming. This airing was auspiciously NOT on April Fools, but close to it, and I wonder if they did that to throw us off their scent.
April Fools 2008 was a pretty substantial stunt this year, and I’ll be doing full write-ups for most of those premieres. There are a couple I’m opting to not cover in depth because they were shown in an incomplete state, so I’ll hold off on covering them until they air in full. Okay?

screwy feralsoka?
WIP Ask Game
In one of the last exchanges I participated in I was matched with my recipient based on Feral/Ahsoka but their DNW list ruled out basically everything that I was interested in writing for them—age gap, power dynamics, underage, culture clashes, smut in general—so I picked one of their other ships to write for instead.
I've kept it in my docs to keep poking at though because i do love a weird screwy relationship.
Savage knows something is changed even before he reaches the village gates. Hunting in the jungle always has a strange, wild energy to it, one that puts Savage in mind of the Sisters and their always-piercing gazes when they come for Selection; the feeling of disquiet doesn't fade as he leaves the trees and begins the climb back to the village. The stones themselves seem too still, without the life-energy of the world flowing freely, and the winds carry a phantom scent unfamiliar to him. By the time he reaches the gates, he's prepared for the worst. The village is quiet and his brothers tense, but as Savage begins to tally them in his mind as he approaches Brother Viscus' dwelling, he sees neither missing brothers nor lurking Sisters. Brother Viscus steps out to receive him from the successful hunt and Feral follows behind, lingering in the doorway and looking more animated than the rest of the village put together. Not that Savage can actually interpret his brother's expression, which is another oddity itself. "Has something happened?" he finally asks, as others of the village carry off his haul to prepare and use according to their skills. "The village seems... unnerved." Brother Viscus nods slowly, his eyes tight. "A small spacecraft crashed nearly two days ago—directly into one of the Selection arenas, in fact." That a ship had crashed was uncommon but hardly reason for such discontent; that a ship had crashed into a Selection arena was a sign if ever Savage had heard of one. "It was a life pod from a Republic ship damaged in battle in a neighboring system, and carried only one passenger, injured and unconscious. Fang and Feral brought her into the village to treat her wounds and question her... She claims to be a Jedi, brother, and she claims that they will come for her." A shiver of... something ripples through the village, a haunting whisper in the air.

Study of Uranus' large moons shows four may hold water Re-analysis of data from NASA's Voyager spacecraft, along with new computer modeling, has led NASA scientists to conclude that four of Uranus' largest moons likely contain an ocean layer between their cores and icy crusts. Their study is the first to detail the evolution of the interior makeup and structure of all five large moons: Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, Oberon, and Miranda. The work suggests four of the moons hold oceans that could be dozens of miles deep. In all, at least 27 moons circle Uranus, with the four largest ranging from Ariel, at 720 miles (1,160 kilometers) across, to Titania, which is 980 miles (1,580 kilometers) across. Scientists have long thought that Titania, given its size, would be most likely to retain internal heat, caused by radioactive decay. The other moons had previously been widely considered too small to retain the heat necessary to keep an internal ocean from freezing, especially because heating created by the gravitational pull of Uranus is only a minor source of heat. The National Academies' 2023 Planetary Science and Astrobiology Decadal Survey prioritized exploring Uranus. In preparation for such a mission, planetary scientists are focusing on the ice giant to bolster their knowledge about the mysterious Uranus system. Published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets, the new work could inform how a future mission might investigate the moons, but the paper also has implications that go beyond Uranus, said lead author Julie Castillo-Rogez of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. "When it comes to small bodies—dwarf planets and moons—planetary scientists previously have found evidence of oceans in several unlikely places, including the dwarf planets Ceres and Pluto, and Saturn's moon Mimas," she said. "So there are mechanisms at play that we don't fully understand. This paper investigates what those could be and how they are relevant to the many bodies in the solar system that could be rich in water but have limited internal heat." The study revisited findings from NASA's Voyager 2 flybys of Uranus in the 1980s and from ground-based observations. The authors built computer models infused with additional findings from NASA's Galileo, Cassini, Dawn, and New Horizons (each of which discovered ocean worlds), including insights into the chemistry and the geology of Saturn's moon Enceladus, Pluto and its moon Charon, and Ceres—all icy bodies around the same size as the Uranian moons. What lies above and beneath The researchers used that modeling to gauge how porous the Uranian moons' surfaces are, finding that they're likely insulated enough to retain the internal heat that would be needed to host an ocean. In addition, they found what could be a potential heat source in the moons' rocky mantles, which release hot liquid, and would help an ocean maintain a warm environment—a scenario that is especially likely for Titania and Oberon, where the oceans may even be warm enough to potentially support habitability. By investigating the composition of the oceans, scientists can learn about materials that might be found on the moons' icy surfaces as well, depending on whether substances underneath were pushed up from below by geological activity. There is evidence from telescopes that at least one of the moons, Ariel, has material that flowed onto its surface, perhaps from icy volcanoes, relatively recently. In fact, Miranda, the innermost and fifth largest moon, also hosts surface features that appear to be of recent origin, suggesting it may have held enough heat to maintain an ocean at some point. The recent thermal modeling found that Miranda is unlikely to have hosted water for long: It loses heat too quickly and is probably frozen now. But internal heat wouldn't be the only factor contributing to a moon's subsurface ocean. A key finding in the study suggests that chlorides, as well as ammonia, are likely abundant in the oceans of the icy giant's largest moons. Ammonia has been long known to act as antifreeze. In addition, the modeling suggests that salts likely present in the water would be another source of antifreeze, maintaining the bodies' internal oceans. Of course, there still are a lot of questions about the large moons of Uranus, Castillo-Rogez said, adding that there is plenty more work to be done: "We need to develop new models for different assumptions on the origin of the moons in order to guide planning for future observations." Digging into what lies beneath and on the surfaces of these moons will help scientists and engineers choose the best science instruments to survey them. For instance, determining that ammonia and chlorides may be present means that spectrometers, which detect compounds by their reflected light, would need to use a wavelength range that covers both kinds of compounds. Likewise, they can use that knowledge to design instruments that can probe the deep interior for liquid. Searching for electrical currents that contribute to a moon's magnetic field is generally the best way to find a deep ocean, as Galileo mission scientists did at Jupiter's moon Europa. However, the cold water in the interior oceans of moons such as Ariel and Umbriel could make the oceans less able to carry these electrical currents and would present a new kind of challenge for scientists working to figure out what lies beneath. IMAGE....New modeling shows that there likely is an ocean layer in four of Uranus' major moons: Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, and Oberon. Salty—or briny—oceans lie under the ice and atop layers of water-rich rock and dry rock. Miranda is too small to retain enough heat for an ocean layer. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech

A Christmas during the invasion
a cold, harsh breeze hit the homes of the city, as the clock slowly begins ticking towards the new day of Christmas.
Christmas eve was usually a rowdy period, humans bustling around, getting last minute gifts ready for their loved ones.
this year, sadly, was the first year after the invasion, the shil, purps, eggplants, whatever you'd like to call them. They exist! Giant alien humanoids, a race in which women outnumber the men, and the 'generic' gender roles are reversed.
The shil'vati outpowered us, it was difficult, knowing that our strongest weaponry couldn't do anything against them. especially for some of our more.. proud countries.
after all, what's the point in a religion that says we are the only sapient species, after watching these people come to us from the cosmos? I'm glad I was never apart of it, I'd probably have ended up like one of those fanatics calling these people 'Spawn of the devil'.
Although another problem arose with me being a military man, and a fairly high ranking one at that. Turns out our generals are a bit of wusses when it comes to talking to these aliens, so 'first' official military contact was thrust on me.
I met with one of their commanders, big woman. while I consider myself to be on the taller side, I will admit that I felt slightly dwarfed by her. Her name was Commander Ra'sel, But I've taken to call her Raz, which she doesn't seem to mind.
""you know, my girls under me wouldn't mind talking to a handsome man like yourself" She said to me, after our 'Official' talk, now we were having a drink together, sitting at a table on her personal spacecraft.
"You know, I'd love to, But I'd be a bit old for that scene, breaching on 40. in human standard, I mean. plus, I do happen to have a daughter to take care of." I said, finishing off my drink that she had given me, while the name eluded my memory, the taste was sweet, too sweet, in fact, but I've never been one to turn down a drink
"what, and your wife won't let you?" She said, letting out a small bit of laughter. I felt myself smile a bit, despite the painful memory being brought back to my head. "No, She's gone, A few years ago." I said, wishing I'd now had a bit more drink. "It was cancer, easily curable, now, with your technology, but fate is a fickle thing." now the mood was down a bit, leaving both humanoids a bit uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry to hear that, you humans are monogamous, right? mate for life types?"
"Yes, mostly monogamous, I don't know about mate for life, as that really isn't a thing. People break up, things change after all."
This time, I wanted to do something different. change my own cycle for once. "You know, if your soldiers ever show up on earth, give me a call. I'll give them as good as a tour as I can."
(this is a story based off of a story on the r/HFY subreddit, called "sexy space babes" I plan on continuing it for the future)

The 13 Greatest Winter Fragrances In The Marketplace Right Now
The sellers need to make money, so I’d guess the standard was decrease to match the lower cost. But if you’re prepared to take the risk, you could strive ordering them from her anyway. I haven’t ordered from either Fang or Alice although, so I can’t inform if there'd a difference in quality between them and Annie. Best high quality overall primarily based on pictures appears to be Alice and Fang and Annie, although I've only bought Rockstuds from Annie thus far. Not as much beveling, however no shade bleeding from the perimeters. Heel is slightly thicker than the genuine, however it’s hard to inform. Otherwise, based on his character, it will not be sizzling. I have by no means seen or planted grass in the early stage. https://calsmedia.nl/valentino-replica.html These two months are carrying every day, especially light, typically sporting a thick coat will always subconsciously touch the bag to substantiate that the bag continues to be not. The nude colour is more of a true nude than the pink beige of the genuine Valentinos, however I don’t think Annie's factory has that color. I suppose the true nude that she did have is prettier though so I’m proud of it — it appears similar to the image of the black/nude reverse Rockstuds I noticed on Instagram . You’d should determine if the worth distinction of just about $30 is worth it to you. Note that Annie's Valentinos are for individuals with medium to slender ft. Someone acquainted with Valentinos would instantly be able to tell it’s faux primarily based on the toe form, and in actual life they’d have the power to inform from the fake appearance of the pleather, too. Thicker fake leather, about the same thickness as KP’s. Studs are visible on the again side of the straps — I think about this may make them less comfortable if worn for lengthy periods of time. KK, the long-legged supermodel, can’t wait to carry it out of the street. Also sharper is the traditional black, very refined and advanced gas field, it seems to be far more exciting than the typical black bag. No, Viktor&Rolf isn’t restricted to its bestselling Flowerbomb perfume . As a special treat for men, the Spicebomb carries with it a cool spicy scent to interrupt away from the tried-and-true heat woodsy scent. As certainly one of Sephora’s most-shopped-for men’s colognes, Jo Malone London is aware of what it’s doing with the Wood Sage & Sea Salt. In reality, just like the handsome dress mentioned she loves all black wrinkled skin that part, and her day is “black swan” feeling a black ride! Meet the last, she shock appeared, and Song collectively for everybody to indicate Spike different back, Fan Ye love Valentino, she stated she liked Rockstud Spike has a soft facet, but also a cool dual character. I always really feel that town of his family remains to be so dangerous that I want to lose it. It was just a hit, and it was taken without hesitation. This bag is super lovely, but be careful and watch out, because it isn't very wearable for lambskin. The two vessels spent three days in orbital planes 30° apart and, throughout Tereshkova's first orbit, approached one another to within 5 km (3.1 mi). Although they were capable of communicate via radio, neither might ensure in the occasion that they saw one another. Cameras placed inside both the spacecraft transmitted stay footage that was broadcast on Soviet state tv. Tereshkova additionally maintained a flight log and took photographs of the horizon, which had been later used to identify aerosol layers throughout the ambiance. wikipedia handbags In fact, Candystud is a continuation of the Rockstud Spike sequence. At the top, you will find davana, an herb with an earthy, woody aroma. The heart of the scent is the place things get attention-grabbing. There is tonka bean, a notice that is usually much like vanilla, just a bit mellower. If you're conversant in brandy, you will know it is a sweet, fragrant brown liquor that smells like a sweet perfume all on its own. There are many variations of brandy, like blackberry, peach, vanilla, and apple. This addition of the fruit makes it even sweeter, easy to sip on, and great to include in a cocktail. And apparently, it is the proper base for a scent. It smells like the heat of the solar in your pores and skin at nightfall. In this capacity, she supported the introduction of amendments to the preamble of Constitution of Russia, to add that "Orthodoxy is the premise of Russia's national and cultural id". For a relatively stronger scent, Ralph Lauren’s Polo Cologne Intense is your winner. It’s shy of $75 during Sephora’s sale and is a chic mix of cooling sage and earthy notes. Louis Vuitton's previous few fragrance launches have been conceptually interesting and funky. The mix of the understated yet attractive decanter-esque bottle, cool name, and nice scent hit the entire right notes for me. After studying the scent profile, do not you want you had been sporting it proper now? Though it sounds sweet, it has a surprising quantity of dark, leathery depth to it. Burberry Hero is a cologne of the past, current, and future, multi functional. I truly have heard that Rockstud Spike has lots of colours within the nation have been out of stock, and I found in Paris, the shop has been very incomplete color, black all quick. Recently, many international stars and bloggers are beginning to back the replica bag tote, and feel Rockstud Spike this replica bag tote ought to be a Rockstud assortment Valentino is a representative of a bag design. Like this can go to the shop to strive, which measurement or shade the most appropriate for their very own. Profile easy, shiny texture, practical low-key. Lady wardrobe is at all times lacking that a replica bag tote, nothing more than that is the case.

Summary: The road to loving Frankie Morales is tough, but you’d do it all again if you had to. And again, and again, and again…
Pairing: Frankie ‘Catfish’ Morales x F!Reader (no y/n)
Warnings: Language, major character death but not the permanent kind, (this is literally just a series of au’s in which the reader becomes kind of self-aware), nondescriptive smut (minors, please skip this one!).
Word count: 2.6k
A/N at the end

“Hey,” Frankie shouts, his voice only just carrying over the heavy rain. “Hey, wait up!”
You glance back at him over your shoulder, but you don’t stop running. You can’t stop running. Not after what just happened. Why did you decide to tell him how you felt about him, again? Worst decision of your life.
“Hey!” Frankie shouts again, even louder this time. He’s quickly gaining on you; blame that on his Delta training. You keep running, looking left and right for a spot between the old buildings to shelter from the rain. Something just big enough for one person to hide from their best friend would be great, but you doubt you’ll find a spot like that.
Just when you spot an alcove the size of a small closet you step into a puddle that’s way deeper than it looks, and you smack against the pavement.
You hear Frankie curse from behind you, the splashing of his boots in the puddles getting louder and louder until he stops right next to you and crouches down to help you up. You let out a painful groan when he lifts you off the ground, your arms flailing around unwittingly until you manage to grasp onto his soaked flannel.
“Are you okay?”
“No, I’m not, Frankie,” you say with a sniffle. “Look, I know that just because I feel a certain way, you don’t have to… Why are you laughing?”
“I’m sorry,” Frankie grins. “But you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to hear those words! I’d given up all hope you’d ever say them, so,” he shifts to hold you closer to his chest, “I was a bit shocked, is all.”
You blink up at him dumbfounded as lightning flashes behind him, bathing the two of you in a heavenly light for just a moment. Before you realize what you’re doing, you grab his face and crash your lips into his with a passion you never knew you were capable of. He hums against your lips and you smile; this kiss is better than whatever you imagined it could be.
The rain washes over you and makes goosebumps pop up all over your skin, though that could also be from the intensity with which Frankie kisses you. His nose bumps against yours as he deepens it and something starts to blossom up in your belly, a tingling spreading from your sides all the way to your fingertips. After what feels like an eternity, he lets you go, the both of you breathing hard and haggard.
“Holy shit,” Frankie chuckles. “We’re both incredibly stupid, aren’t we?”
“Speak for yourself. I’d do it all again if this is what I get for it.”
Frankie laughs breathlessly and you can’t help but join him. All the anxiety in your body has transformed into exhilaration; you throw your head back and let the raindrops splatter onto your face freely when suddenly another flash of lightning strikes, this time so close you can almost feel it burn your skin. Hey, wait… why doesn’t it stop?
The burning sensation digs deeper into your skin and you snap your head back to look at Frankie, but he’s still laughing. You try to reach out and grab his shoulder, but something’s wrong with your hand. It’s- it’s shredding, your fingers flaking off and burning up in the air as you yell out, horrified at the sight.
Frankie doesn’t notice it when you feel yourself losing weight and floating upward, memories flurrying around you in the ash you’re slowly becoming. He doesn’t notice it when you get sucked higher and higher into the air, screaming his name and pleading him to help you. He doesn’t even notice it when you gasp in one last breath before the stinging headache you’ve developed in the last few seconds overwhelms you completely and you feel your consciousness slipping away.
Tumblr media
You jerk awake. Holy stars, that wasn’t a normal nightmare. Where in Newton’s name did that even come from? Rain? It never rains here on the SS Endeavour, you’re in space. All the rain you’ve ever seen has all been via holovids. It did feel oddly realistic, though. Kind of like déjà vu. You stretch out your arms above your head and yawn; maybe you did drink a bit too much last night.
But that kiss… why would you ever kiss officer Morales? Sure, you’re friends. You’re his copilot, for Newton’s sake. But he’s far too mission oriented to even consider romantic relationships. At least, that’s what he says. You’d agree with him, if only he wasn’t obviously lying.
“Stars, would you hurry up already?”
You jump out of your bunk at the sound of Ava’s voice and start changing into your overalls, but it’s no use-- she’s already seen you.
“I don’t want to have to skip breakfast again because you can’t be bothered to get up when the alarm goes off.”
“Oh, stop worrying about your breakfast. I’m sure you still have some extra bread rolls in your secret hiding spot.”
“I will neither confirm nor deny that claim,” Ava says, but she’s got a twinkle in her eye. She’s such a bad lair. You step into your shoes, the soft hiss of the self-tying mechanism a nice reassurance of the fact that you’re not dreaming anymore.
“When commander Penn finds out you’ve been using his second wall safe to hide food, you’re getting an instant demotion,” you say. “You do know that, right?”
“It’s so sweet you still think that’s where I hide my stuff. Anyway, I really hope you’ve already picked up your new badge.”
You look up at her from where you’re sitting on the bottom bunk. “…Oh, shit.”
“Really? What kind of gas giant-”
“Don’t start calling me names you’ll regret, Ava,” you grumble as you scramble up and run out of the sleeping pod. This day really is off to an amazing start.

“Good morning, sunshine,” Fish greets you when you climb into the cockpit of your jet with a scowl. “We’ve got zone E today.”
You fasten your seatbelt and heave a sigh. “Yay for us.”
“I thought you liked the asteroid belt.”
“I do, I just…” You chew on your lip as you busy yourself with the control panel. “I had a weird dream, is all. Let’s get going, Fish.”
Because nothing kills a conversation quicker than telling someone about the strange dream you had last night. Now that you think about it, there was something else wrong with it: the stars. They were all in different places, made different constellations…
Usually something like that doesn’t dance around in your head for very long after you wake up, but this somehow keeps popping up whenever you try to navigate manually. It’s like your memories have been copied, but the copy has a whole lot of mistakes. Like there’s been a very, very bad data overhaul.
And then there’s Fish. Despite his casual, relaxed attitude he’s tapping his fingertips against the controls at a rapid pace. It’s a small detail, one you’ve noticed a hundred times before, but it’s taking on a different meaning in your head. You remember him doing it in the dream, too, right after you told him you loved him. Could that maybe-
“Hey!” Fish snaps his fingers in front of you, and everything around you comes back into focus. You’re floating in zone E, engine off, and there’s a bright red jet peeking out from behind a particularly large asteroid.
“Shit,” you mutter under your breath. “What’re they doing here? This isn’t Galactican territory.”
“Ambush, maybe?”
“I doubt it. If they were planning an ambush, they wouldn’t pick a fucking asteroid belt. Lord knows those new engines of theirs are about as stable as a peach in a blender.”
“Whatever they’re doing here, I don’t trust it,” Fish says with a frown. You sigh.
“Maybe they haven’t seen us yet. D’you think we can we get out of here in time?”
He shakes his head. “Can’t risk leading them right back to the Endeavour.”
“You… you haven’t radioed this in yet, right?”
“No.”
You lean forward to get a better look of your surroundings - seems you’ve been daydreaming for quite some time - only to see a whole lot of asteroids. “Well, it is just one of them, and it doesn’t look like the engine’s on.”
“It’s not broken,” Fish mutters. “At least, I don’t think.”
“Then what do you suggest we do? If we radio this in and someone’s in there, they can easily trace any signals the Endeavour sends out. If we open fire, we’ll have started a war-- and we really don’t need another one of those.”
“It’s taking too long.”
“Excuse me?”
“Not you,” he says absentmindedly, pointing at the blue spacecraft. “That. It’s moving too slow. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say the brakes are on.”
You grab the lens from the wall beside you and take another look. Fish’s right: if the engine’s off, it should be floating around freely, not hanging still. As you stare at it, though, it does seem to move a little bit. No, it glitches. Your breath hitches in your throat. “Holy fuck.”
“Hm?” Fish hums, turning to you. You push the lens in front of his face, and he looks through it as well. No five seconds later, he’s grabbed the controls and started the engine. “We need to get out of here, right now.”
You grab the radio, but Fish snatches it from your hands and throws it across the cockpit. “We’re not gonna radio this in.”
“Are you insane?”
“What do you think base is going to do when they hear tell of a glitching Galactica spacecraft in the last productive tantalum mining fields?”
“Are you seriously suggesting not letting millions of people prepare for-” You’re cut off by the sudden appearance of a dozen more spacecraft, all of their noses pointed in your direction as you and Fish zoom past way faster than you should. “No, no, no!”
“Sunshine, listen to me,” Fish says as he puts his hand over yours. It grounds you, and you’re grateful for it, even if you don’t understand what he’s doing. “If they know we’ve been patrolling the fields, I’m guessing their main plan is to follow us back to the Endeavour.”
“…Which means they don’t know where it’s anchored,” you add, your anxious expression slowly turning into a smirk.
“Now you’re getting it,” he chuckles. “Let’s go take some advantage of that, hm?”
You nod and grab the controls in front of you to start plotting a route that’s just erratic enough not to draw suspicion to the fact that you’re leading the following spacecraft away from the Endeavour. Fish navigates the jet precisely along your route, narrowly avoiding the asteroids while turning a few degrees to the left every few seconds until you’re coasting out of the mining fields and into empty space. It works; behind you, the stream of spacecraft grows steadily, and with it, so does the size of the individual ships.
“They’re still following us,” Fish says after a while. He sounds a lot less sure of his case than he did ten minutes ago. “Hey, we have enough power left for a jump?”
“Depends on where you want to go,” you say, checking the fuel systems. “I reckon we can jump a total of about a thousand light years.”
“The center of the galaxy’s a little less than eight hundred light years away, correct?”
“Yes, but what…” you trail off as realization hits you like a nuclear bomb. “No, don’t even think about it.”
“They’re not backing off, Sunshine.” Fish turns to look you in the eyes, a small, watery smile on his lips. “I don’t think we have a-”
“Of course we have a choice,” you say with as much severity as you can muster, which, to be frank, isn’t a lot right now. “There’s always a choice.”
“Would you rather wipe out their fleet or our own?”
“I don’t-”
“Do it, Sunshine,” he says sternly. “Make the jump.”
You hesitate, your hand hovering over the lever. “Is… is there really no one on the Endeavour you’d turn back for?”
Fish’s smile grows a bit; you can see it’s genuine. “…I’m here with you, aren’t I? That’s enough for me.”
It catches you off guard, the way he says it. Deep down, you already knew what his answer would be. You dreamt about it, after all. Without another word, you push the lever forward, and the jet glides across space-time until it slows down again, finally coming to a halt near the event horizon of the massive black hole at the center of the galaxy.
“Did it work? Are they coming?” Fish almost jumps out of his chair to look outside, while you decide to look at the little radar on the control board. One by one the tiny, blinking dots come streaming in; your evidence of a job well done.
“Fish?” you ask, your voice wavering. There’s something more important than saving the universe on your mind right now. “Am I really enough for you?”
“Oh, stars,” he says, his own happy mood turning into something else as well. He sinks to his knees in front of your chair and looks up at you. “You are more than enough. You’re all I ever think about, you’re the only one that-”
Before he can finish his sentence, you’ve already grabbed his face and crashed your lips into his. You’re about to be swallowed up by a black hole, explanations can wait. The kiss grows more and more fervent as Fish’s hands travel up your thighs to hold your waist, a tingling feeling taking up refuge in your belly. After Newton knows how long, the two of you reluctantly break away from each other to breathe.
Stars, Fish, you whisper, but he shakes his head. Call me Frankie, he says. Please, call me Frankie. You tilt your head and press your lips against his scruff. Frankie, you whisper, please don’t stop. And he doesn’t. He closes his eyes and kisses you, over and over and over until your lips are swollen and all thoughts have left your head.
He zips open your overalls slowly, kissing every inch of newly uncovered skin he can find. His kisses burn lower and lower across your skin, past your clavicles, your chest, your belly, and before you, thousands of stars slowly implode. You don’t know if you’ve ever felt like this before; it’s all so incredibly bittersweet. You get to spend the longest night of your life with the man you love, but it’ll also be the last night you’ll ever experience.
One by one little pinpricks of light fade out in the darkness outside, while others explode in brightly colored clouds-- the same thing happens to your nerves whenever Frankie moves even the slightest bit. It’s a good thing sound doesn’t carry in space, or else you wouldn’t be able to hear the beautiful noises he makes when he closes his eyes in pleasure.
The two of you tumble around in what little space you have, the light of a billion dying stars illuminating every single part of your joint bodies as you splay your hands across his chest. The darkness is taking over more quickly now, enveloping your jet into nothingness, drawing you into the vast emptiness of its core.
We must have done something right, Frankie whispers as you lay, sweaty and tired, awaiting your bittersweet ending, to deserve such an incredible encore.
You close your eyes and curl up into his chest as you whisper back, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Tumblr media
You open your eyes again and smile when you look at Mr. Morales. He’s so gentle like this, with his fingers flying across the piano, not at all the stoic soldier he usually is. It’s nice, even if the others think it’s boring.
He finishes the piece with a shuddering creshendo, and you bite back a smile when he looks at you with those gorgeos eyes of his.
“Why’d you stop singing, my lady?”
“I apologize, sir,” you say as you flip over the music sheet on the little ledge of the piano. “But I simply can’t help it; you play so wonderfully, and I never truly learnt to sing very well. It seems a shame to pollute such beautiful tones with my own.”
“Nonsense,” Mr. Morales says with a kind smile. “Your voice only ever makes me want to play better.”
Your cheeks heat up at that, but the moment is quickly disrupted.
“Encore, encore!” a voice behind you yells; it’s Mr. Garcia, who’s been sitting in his usual post on the third floor. “We’re gonna need more than just the one piece if we’re to have any luck in catching more than a score of those bastards tonight.”
“Why don’t you come down and try singing for a bit, it might help,” Mr. Morales chuckles beside you. When he notices you staring at him, he leans in a little closer and adds, “Are you all right, miss? You seem distracted.”
“I’m perfectly good, sir.” You swallow hard and let out a weary breath. “Your music always seems to carry me away further than I expect.”
And for a moment there, you think to yourself, I thought I saw the stars up close.

A/N: I really threw all my knowledge of space and science out the window for this one and replaced it with nonsense and movie-science. Also, I’ve watched Interstellar, Free Guy, and Groundhog Day way too much for my own good.
The title of this chapter comes from an instrumental by the Grandbrothers which I listened to while writing, so if you want the full experience you can look that up.
If I'm missing any content warnings, do let me know! I'd hate to hurt someone with my writing, but I don't really know how to work those out yet.
PS: If you've got a favorite AU and/or dynamic, I'd love to hear about it! This series is going to explore a bunch of different ones, but I think my own imagination will only get me so far :)
As always, feedback is appreciated and my inbox is open! Have a great day!

I have this space au that has been going around in my brain and like
Blake is still from remnants and looks like pretty much as canon
so the au begins with Blake's spaceships crashing into like one of the many many moons of a planet. rwy live on the same moon and they're there to help people incase someone crashes there.
Because there's a lot of moons there, it's very crowded so the possibility of someone crashing there is pretty high.
And like rwy looks more alien like since they're from different planet's. Ruby and Yang are from the same world while Weiss is not.
All three of them are mechanics, but Weiss specialises on vehicles and other spacecraft. Ruby specialises on mostly fine tech while Yang focuses on medical stuff and thing that has to do with the body. Such as armour and other things.
So the first thing they do when they find Blake is what they usually do take them in and make sure they're okay and if needed fix their ships or whatever they need to get them back on their feet.
The first time Blake wakes she's of course in panic so when she sees that someone is there she tries to run away. But with little to no avail since she has a oxygen mask strapped to her face. So to not alarm Blake Yang points at her medic armband in hopes that will make her calm down.
So after like all the procedures are done Blake grabs Yangs hand and asks for help to stand up. But here's the thing: They don't speak the same language so firstly Yang doesn't know what she's saying. Secondly in Yangs culture having the palm of your hand on the back of someone hand is really intimate, kinda like a peck on the lips.
And this becomes a little bit too much for Yang to handle so she gets very flustered and leaves the room. With Blake none the wiser why the alien medic suddenly got red in the face and left.
But basically the plot of the story is just them living together on a moon base.
little fun fact about this au:
rwy can not eat sugar since their liver would shut down if they did so. Which kinda sucks when they wanna try Blake food but can't.
Blake uses sign language to communicate with the others since it's the only language they all can speak fluently. Except Weiss knows another one that Blake also know but Blake only uses it to mess with her.

Where There Be Dragons (Bit 5)
Tumblr media
Bit 1 | Bit 2 | Bit 3 | Bit 4 | Bit 5
Well, this is turning into a chain of ficlets where I shove two characters together and they babble for a while. There will be some proper story telling at some point, I promise :D
This bit answers a few questions and probably could have gone further, but I’ve run out of time.
As always, many thanks to @scribbles97 @janetm74 and @tsarinatorment for all the amazing support ::hugs you all::
I hope you enjoy this thousand odd words :D

Scott stepped foot onto the bridge of Thunderbird Five, the constant hum of well-oiled machinery and busy mechanics hung in the air. It was a place of action and determination.
The wide forward steel glass ports covered almost the entire bow of the ship, supported by her cahelium infrastructure. At the moment, they were draped in an almost-black, mercurial, midnight blue as John took his ‘bird deep enough for a good undetectable cruising depth so they could clear the shipping lanes.
The interior light was dim here, kept low for ease of viewing both inside and outside those massive windows. What little light that made it down to these depths from the fading sunlight above flickered gently, giving the room an unearthly light.
This was the command deck of Thunderbird Five, the name inscribed in large letters beneath those viewports. It was an intimate place for Scott. He had paced this wide deck many a time, John’s eyes following him back and forth.
But it wasn’t the command centre of International Rescue. That title belonged to the comm room - a comfortable lounge behind the bridge dominated by a large round table and cushioned chairs. That was where his brothers gathered during an incident. That was where the order to deploy was given.
Scott’s cane clunked solidly on the metal deck plates. John glanced over at him. His brother stood in his uniform behind the big wooden wheel that directed his ‘bird through the oceans. Like Scott’s uniform, his brother’s was blue, but both his baldric and the patch on his shoulder were Indian yellow in contrast to Scott’s command silver-grey. John’s specialisation was communications and International Rescue’s technical infrastructure. The man was a genius and Scott held great pride in his brother’s capabilities.
Virgil may have built the majority of the detectors, receivers and transmitters, but John had conceived and created the prototypes. The technical specialist stretched the laws of physics and took them to new heights. The fact International Rescue’s agents could connect across the entirety of the planet was purely because of John’s skill.
But as always, it was when his brothers combined their skills that they truly shone. The incident with the Eos automaton had seen John lose his left eye. It was one of the reasons Scott would never trust that sweet-talking pile of spare parts. John could have died. Thankfully, their grandmother had almost magical fingers like her engineer grandson where it came to the human body. It had been close, but his brother had survived.
And between John and Virgil they had built the eye.
A brass eyebrow arched at him, the mechanical lid blinking as if it had life. The mechanics focussed on him with a faint whirr and John smiled just a little.
“Plotting her demise again?”
Scott rolled his own eyes. “I do think of things other than Eos, you know.”
“Oh, I know.” But his brother’s smile was far too smug.
The commander grunted and turned back towards the viewports, leaning a little heavier on his cane.
John snorted. “The detectors read good weather ahead. We should make the West Indies in good time.”
“Good.” Beneath his feet he could feel the fine vibrations of Five’s massive rear propellers. Shaped somewhat like one of Gordon’s manta rays, Five was wide and flat, but huge, the largest of all the Thunderbirds.
She was designed to be a base, a mobile headquarters from where the other four Thunderbirds could launch. His own ‘bird, alongside Virgil’s Two, were nestled beneath her dorsal fin, ready to launch into the air. Five would surface and redirect her great propeller system back into the depths as her sisters pushed off from her spine.
Once they were airborne, she would close up and resubmerge, disappearing into the waves.
Four, when not being carried by Two, exited via Five’s belly. It was only Three that required a launch from a land-based site.
Initially, anyway. There had been plans.
“You’re sure of those coordinates?” It was a redundant question. One he had already asked multiple times. He wasn’t one for indecision, but the cost of this one was his father’s trust and that hurt ever so much.
They were basically hijacking the entirety of International Rescue’s equipment, give or take whatever their father and Hiram had in storage or development. This was something his grief-stricken, authoritarian father was unlikely to ever forgive.
And it went against every grain in Scott’s body to disobey Jeff Tracy.
But this was his little brother. If there was even a chance he had survived crashing his experimental spacecraft in the South Pacific, Scott had to find him.
Yes, the chance was ridiculously slim.
But it was still a chance.
“Scott, I am sure.  One thousand miles north of the colonies of New Zealand. There are a number of islands in the area, despite its remoteness. I’ve shown you the maps.”
He certainly had. They were still scattered all over the table in the comm room.
Scott swallowed and straightened his spine. “Yes, thank you, John.” He glanced up at his brother. “You need to speak to Gordon.”
His brother’s lips tightened and he looked away. “He knows where to find me.”
A sigh and Scott strode over quietly. He reached up a hand and placed it on John’s shoulder. “It wasn’t your fault.”
“It should have been me aboard that ship. It was my experiment. My attempt to reach space.”
“It was Alan’s choice. He knew the risk going in.” Scott squeezed John’s shoulder gently. “Besides, how do you think you could have stopped him?” Alan had been absolutely rabid about this project. They had succeeded on multiple occasions in achieving orbit with unmanned mechanisms. Logic had led them to adapting their plans for a third air-based Thunderbird to a space orientated vehicle. Hiram’s safety record was meticulous. They had gotten used to success.
Perhaps God had decided it was time for a reminder.
Please let them not take his little brother as payment for that lesson.

Sacred Part 2
Summary: Tusk has made his decision, something that changes both his and Chloe’s lives forever.
Pairing: Yautja x human OC
Warnings: Some violence, shitty Yautja anatomy descriptions, some fighting, a little blood, smut
A/N: OMG I did it. I finished part 2. I’ve literally been working on this since I wrote Part 1 like three months ago. My muse bit me in the ass and here we are. BONUS: extra love to whomever can figure out the ending....
Part 1| Masterlist|
Tumblr media
Tarei’hsan frantically presses buttons on the console, the ship shuddering as shots are fired at them. Chloe is safely tucked away in a pod, strapped in and ready in case things go wrong. The coordinates are set, ready to send her to the nearest oxygen-based planet. All he has to do is press a button.
He weaves the ship, dodging fire as he attempts to start a jump. He needs to get as far from there as he can, his ship only capable of taking so much fire. Things had not gone as he’d hoped. He had thought they were in empty space, but it appeared there were others in the area.
He had abandoned the idea of returning to his Clan Ship. There was a chance they would be killed on sight. There was a chance they would kill Chloe and make him watch. There was a chance she would be hated for her entire time there, shunned by the males and scorned by the females. He couldn’t put her through that. So he had changed course, cut the ties with his clan, and sent the ship off to empty space where he would have time to figure out where they were going to go.
But then she’d come in, smelling like sweet meat, clean and musky and he’d completely lost control. He’d mated with her, lost himself in her. He’d let his guard down and now they were being pursued by another spacecraft. He had sent the ship right into a trap and now he was paying the price.
He curses, steering away from another blast. The ship was almost ready, vibrating from the force of the damage and the power needed to make such a big jump. It was the safest place he knew for both of them and their best bet on a place to lay low for a while.
The wormhole opens in front of him, his ship jumping through, thankfully closing before the other ship can follow. He slows his ship down, preparing to enter the atmosphere of the planet before him. He keeps Chloe stored away, wanting to be ready for anything. She would forgive him later, he’s sure of it.
He lands on the planet, kicking up dust as he sets the ship down roughly. He runs a scan, pulling up everything that’s damaged. He’d need to do repairs before they did any more serious traveling. He makes sure the cloaking is on before he leaves the pilot’s seat, heading back towards the pods. He opens the pod, catching Chloe as she slides out. It would be a few minutes before she would wake up, so he returns to the pilot’s seat, holding her in his arms.
She’s soft and warm against him, and he can’t help but remember how she’d felt wrapped around him, tight and wet. He’d let her dominate him, let her take control. He’d wanted to fuck her like a female but he knew she was more fragile, more delicate than the females of his kind. He didn’t want to risk hurting her. She’d been so receptive to him, the sounds she’d made, the way she shivered when he touched her. He can feel himself getting hard again and pushes the thoughts away. That was for later.
Right now, he needed to find them someplace to stay, someplace to lay low.
Chloe starts to shift in his arms, groaning a little as she stretches. He purrs quietly to her, smoothing a hand down her back. She groans again, nuzzling closer to his chest. He stares down at her for a moment, tracing her features with his eyes. Yautja don’t define beauty in the same way humans do. Yautja don’t have a concept of beauty at all. Strength, power, hunting, and fighting abilities. Those were things Yautja took into consideration when looking for mates. But this small ooman, pathetically weak compared to him, had warped his ideals. She had wormed her way into his mind, into his heart, and changed him. But he had been the one to let it happen, too. He had let her worm her way in, twist him inside, change him. He liked it.
He leans back in his seat, cradling his tiny ooman in his arms. His clan may not agree, may not accept her, but he was willing to let it all go, leave it all behind for the sake of his ooman. His Yeyinde.
Chloe starts to stir again, Tarei’hsan’s helmet picking up her rising heart rate and her quickened breaths. He doesn’t loosen his hold, staring down at her as her eyes flutter then open. She frowns for a moment, looking around, her body tensing slightly.
“Tusk.” She says, her voice groggy and rough.
He purrs in reply, shifting her slightly to free one of his arms, reaching out a clawed finger to brush a stray hair from her eyes. He lets the claw trace lightly down the side of her face, watching her struggle to come out of the drugged sleep she had been forced into. He had given her half a dose, knowing her biology was different, and regardless of his blood running through her system, he could have easily killed her with a full dose.
“What...happen...”
“Attack.” He says, searching for the words in his database. “Hostile ship.”
“Where are we now?” She asks, rubbing her eyes.
“Safe.”
She groans, laying her face against the armor on his shoulder. He continues to hold her, hoping he did the right thing. Hoping he made the right decision. He was forever an outcast, leaving his clan, his family behind, all for this tiny, fragile human in his arms. Was she worth all of it?
Yes.
He could start his own family, his own clan. He had heard of it being done. Bad Bloods did it all the time. He would be his own leader now.
********
Chloe rubs at her eyes, bare feet kicking up sand as she follows close behind Tusk. She was still groggy and disoriented, but Tusk had told her that would wear off soon. She pulls the blanket tighter around her, picking up her pace so she doesn’t get lost behind the long strides of her alien companion.
She hadn’t gotten much out of him, not that she had asked much to begin with. Wherever they had ended up, he had deemed it safe enough for them, at least for the time being. Chloe starts to get flashbacks to the time she’d watched Star Wars, being reminded of it as they enter the metal building. It wasn’t enough that she was being reminded of it, she’s living it. She was on an alien planet in outer space. Obviously one that was heavily trafficked, as the many ships sitting outside had told her.
She keeps her head down, a blanket covering her as she sticks close to Tusk nearly pressed up against his back. He’s speaking with someone she can’t see, not that she really wants to. It was enough of a shock to register the fact she wasn’t on Earth anymore, let alone the fact she was with an alien...an alien she had fucked...to try and wrap her brain around the fact there were more aliens around her. They were all aliens to her. Or was she the alien?
Chloe grips the back of Tusk’s belt as he speaks with someone, pressing up against his warmth. It had been warm outside, but the metal floor is cold against her bare feet. Thankfully no one seems to pay them any mind, giving them a wide berth in fact. Perhaps it was the nature of her companion. Or maybe that was just alien etiquette.
She’s pulled along as Tusk begins to move, making his way through crowds of creatures. Chloe keeps her head down, holding onto Tusk as he weaves his way towards a staircase, heading up. She nearly runs into his back when he stops, heading down a hallway before opening a door. She’s ushered inside before he closes the door, the airlock hissing. She pulls the blanket down so it’s wrapped around her shoulders, looking up at him. He’s at the small window, glancing out. Chloe takes a moment to look around the room, taking it in.
Had she not known she was on a different planet, she would have guessed she was in some sort of strange hotel. Maybe something one would find in Roswell or the Southwest. The entire room is metal, giving it a very futuristic look despite the obvious wear and tear. There’s what seems to be a bed in the corner, and a desk in another. There’s a door next to the bed, what she assumes leads to the bathroom. What she hopes leads to the bathroom.
Tusk moves from the window finally, making his way towards her. She looks up at him, craning her head to see him as he stops inches from her. He lifts his hand, clawed fingers tracing over her cheek before his palm presses against her skin. She leans into his touch, letting her eyes flutter closed.
“What happens now?” She asks, lips brushing the rough skin of his palm.
“Stay until safe.” He says through his helmet, claws running through her hair gently. “Then...I don’t know.”
She opens her eyes, looking up at him. “We’re not going to your clan are we?”
He shakes his head. “Too many...risks. Not...worth it.”
Chloe frowns slightly, pulling away from him and sitting on the bed. He watches her, mandibles clicking in confusion.
“I can’t help but feel this is partially my fault. Actually, it is all my fault. I’m the reason you can’t go back to your family. Your clan. You did all this for me and now you can’t ever see them again.” Chloe runs a hand through her hair tugging on it slightly. “Your entire life is ruined because of me.
The hand on her shoulder startles her. She had been so lost in her own thoughts she hadn’t even noticed him move close to her. Her back hits the mattress with a hard thump, nearly knocking the wind out of her. It’s not as soft as she’s used to, not even the pile of furs she’d been sleeping on the past few days weren’t as firm as this mattress. Despite its firmness it still dips as he climbs on, heavy weight denting the firm substance.
She can feel the warmth of him as he kneels over her, caging her in under his body. He lowers himself down, holding himself up on his elbows. His mask is nearly touching her face, close enough she can see the roughness of the metal, the divots and impurities in it.
They lay like that for a few moments, breathing in each other’s air before a single word is uttered.
“No.”
Chloe stares into the eyes of the helmet, lips parted slightly as she breathes in the slightly musky scent coming off him. She feels exposed suddenly, the blanket had fallen open. She had been forced to dress in her dirty clothes, her torn pants and the tank top she’d worn under her layers on Earth. The room is cold, making her aware of her lack of bra but he doesn’t seem to notice.
“Yeyinde.” He breathes out, shifting ever so slightly over her. “Worth it.”
Chloe bites back tears at his words. They were simple but she could understand. He wouldn’t have risked taking her on his ship in the first place, he would have left her to die in the cold on Earth if he hadn’t thought she was worth it. He wouldn’t have risked his entire life, he wouldn’t have saved her. He wouldn’t have let himself be so vulnerable with her...he wouldn’t have been so gentle with her had he not thought her worth it. He hadn’t left his family, his clan because he felt like he had to. He was doing this because he thought she was worth it. He was putting her above everything he knew.
He pushes himself up, kneeling over her on the bed. Chloe chases him, pulling herself up so she’s kneeling as well, only putting her about eye level with his chest. She puts her hands on his shoulders, bringing herself up to press her lips against the metal of his helmet. He tenses slightly under her hands, but she moves back before he gets too uncomfortable.
“I understand now.” She says, sitting back on her heels. “Besides, we don’t need them. We can be our own clan.”
***********
It’s dark out when Tusk returns to the room. Chloe is wrapped up under layers of blankets, trying to get warm. It was warm on the planet during the day, but the nights were something else. Chloe had her back to the door, not wanting to move out of the warm spot she’d created. She knew Tusk would be disappointed in her lack of awareness, of her lack of self-defense, but she was tired and finally starting to get warm.
She hears the familiar hiss of air as he removes his helmet, setting it on the desk with a clunk. A few more clunks follow, meaning he had stripped off his armor. The bed dips as he settles on it, cold air meeting her skin as he slips under the blankets. She instantly rolls back against him, seeking out his warmth. She can feel the wire netting against his chest, pulsing out warmth under the blankets. She sighs contently, her sigh being met with a purr. She smiles softly to herself, a thick arm wrapping around her stomach, pulling her tighter against the solid body behind her, mandibles twitching in her hair. She feels small like this, his sheer size evident in moments like this. She’d been close to him, closer than this. She’d seen more of him than she ever thought she would when she first woke up in his ship. They’d shared an extremely intimate moment, one she wasn’t even sure the cultural meaning of to him completely, and to be totally honest, she wouldn’t mind doing it again.
But not right now.
She’s tired, the last of the drugs he’d used to knock her out wearing off, leaving her feeling exhausted despite the fact they’d put her to sleep. Despite the unknowns, more on her part than even his, she feels safe and comfortable in his arms. She knows he’ll take care of them both. He had so far.
********
The clothes help infinitely. Chloe’s not sure where they’d come from, or how they look perfect for humans, or even how he’d gotten the right size, but they fit almost perfectly and they’re extremely warm. She could gauge enough from his silent emotion and his posture he still wasn’t comfortable with her leaving the room yet, but at least he remembered to feed her and he had tried to make her as warm as he could. It seemed aliens were more adapted to the chill of space, and so most outposts like this were colder than humans were used to. It made sense to her. It wasn’t like humans were exactly traveling out this far. They weren’t adapted to this kind of life. She was the first, and no one even knew it.
It made her feel slightly melancholy. She did miss Earth. There were things she had hated, but it was still her home. She hadn’t left much behind, but her exit had been unexpected and the reality of her situation hadn’t hit her during her blissful time on the ship. But it wasn’t like she could convince him to go back. From what she could garner, his kind visited Earth fairly consistently and so going back would be a risk. It would be easier to track them. This was her life now.
He was her life now.
*******
“What are you doing?” Chloe asks him one day. She figures they’ve been there about a week now, as far as days go on the planet.
“Fix ship.” He says, messing with something electronic on the floor of their room. Chloe couldn’t even begin to tell you what it was or what it did. “Damaged.”
“From the other ship?”
All she gets is a grunt in reply.
“Was...was it your kind...that attacked?”
He shakes his head, locks swaying back and forth. “No.”
“Oh.” Chloe looks down at her hands. “Can...can I do anything to help?”
“No.”
Chloe bites her lip, pulling her knees to her chest. She can’t help but start to feel bored. She had absolutely nothing to do. She was stuck in their room all day, every day. The only excitement she had was his coming and going and their mealtimes. She needed something to do. Some entertainment. Anything.
That’s why she decides to leave the room one day when he’s out. She knows she shouldn’t, she knows she’s entirely alien to everyone that could possibly be in the outpost. She knows it’s dangerous, but she’s tired of being cooped up and bored. So, she leaves the room when he’s out fixing the ship.
She slowly makes her way down the steps, entering the lobby of sorts. There are creatures her mind couldn’t fathom sitting around. It was more like a bar than a lobby, really. She’s utterly fascinated by the completely different world, taking in everything she can.
She’s drawn to where groups of creatures are sitting around tables, playing what looks like Craps, but she can’t discern anything else. She leans against the side of the table, watching them curiously. None of them give her more than a glance, Chloe trying to work out the rules and point of the game on next to nothing as far as information goes.
After a couple of rounds, the creature next to her sets the dice in front of her, giving her a look. She doesn't need to speak the language to understand what that look means. She’s reaching for the dice before she can really think it through, but she’s stopped when a clawed hand wraps around the back of her shirt, yanking her away from the table. Her feet slide on the floor as she’s dragged towards the stairs, Tusk’s nails cutting into the skin on the back of her neck.
He’s angry. She can hear the angry trills and growls from his chest as they move away from the lounge area and back towards their room. Her feet leave the floor as she’s quite literally tossed into the room, hitting the metal floor hard. She coughs, the wind knocked from her lungs at the impact. It jars her, but not quite as much as the seething Yautja across the room.
Chloe jumps as his helmet hits the floor with a loud thud. She’s shaking, she realizes as she props herself up on her hands, staring at the angry alien. His eyes are filled with rage, glaring yellow slits at her. His mandibles are flared wide, fists clenched.
“Ooman stay.” He growls out, pacing back and forth.
“I was bored.” Chloe tries to defend herself. “I have nothing to do.”
“Dangerous. Ooman not know.”
“You won’t tell me anything! How am I supposed to know when you won’t tell me anything?” Her voice is rising, pushing herself up to her knees. Her side is sore where she hit the floor. She knew he was strong, but she hadn’t ever pictured the strength being used against her. She had herself convinced he wouldn’t hurt her. But he was still an alien. Had she made a mistake in thinking that of him?
“Ooman stay safe. Ooman do as told.”
“You’re not the boss of me!” Chloe says, feeling childish but she’s so angry and tired she can’t help but fight back. “I didn’t ask you to take me. I didn’t ask to be with you. I didn’t ask you to leave everything behind for me. I didn’t ask you to-”
A loud roar shocks her into silence. It’s louder than she’s ever heard from him, her ears ringing at the sound. She can’t help but fall back at his roar, backing up in fear. The sound is primal, dangerous, awakening some prey instinct in her that has her making herself as small as she can in the far corner of the room.
He’s standing there, eyes wide in anger, mandibles splayed. Chloe hadn’t felt this afraid of the one she’d met on Earth. She hadn’t ever felt this afraid before.
He stops roaring, glaring at her for a moment before bending to pick up his helmet, leaving the room with a slam of the door. Chloe curls up tighter in the corner of the room, burying her face in her arms.
**********
Chloe sleeps alone on the alien planet that night. She hadn’t seen Tusk since their argument and part of her is afraid he had left her. Abandoned her on this planet in his anger. She had just been bored. She hadn’t known anything. She didn’t know anything about the galaxy or other planets or the life on them. A few weeks ago she hadn’t even known life existed outside of Earth. Of course, there had been the “sightings” and the people who were convinced, but she had always been skeptical. Skeptical until proven real. That was her mantra.
But aliens were real. She was on some distant planet Earth probably didn’t even know about yet, crying over a fight with an alien species Earth also didn't know about. It was all very real, and here she was, crying after a childish argument with a species that could probably tear her in half with his bare hands. Who was she to think she could make decisions like that. Act stupidly in a place she was totally ignorant of? She doesn’t know what she’ll do if Tusk doesn’t come back. If he really did abandon her here. She really doesn’t know.
*********
Tusk can’t sleep.
He’s staring up at the three moons in the sky from the pilot seat of his ship. He had been so afraid...so worried when he’d spotted her in the lounge at the table. He had told her to stay in the room. He had told her it wasn’t safe and she had acted like a pup and defied him.
But her face when he had roared. The...fear in her eyes.
He feels a sick twisting in his stomach as he replays the moment in his memory over and over. It was a side of him he hoped she would never have to see. A side he never wanted to direct towards her. She was fragile, small. His little ooman and he had roared at her like...like an animal. He hadn’t meant it. He was blinded by his anger. He had lost his temper like a fiery Young Blood. He wouldn’t ever hurt her. Not his little Yeyinde.
And now here he was, sulking in his ship while she was alone.
He gets up, heading back into the outpost and up to their room. It’s dark inside but he can see her, curled up in the bed. She’s asleep, her breathing soft and even. He sets his helmet quietly on the table, getting rid of most of his armor as well before climbing into the bed next to her. She doesn’t wake, but she does shift closer to him. He runs a hand down her arm, feeling the softness of her skin, how delicate it is. He can smell the dried blood on her neck from where his claws had cut into her when he’d grabbed her. He feels the twisting in his gut again, moving his head to lick at the wounds.
He purrs quietly, tongue tasting the metallic blood. She stirs slightly, letting out a quiet groan.
“Tusk?” Her voice is thick with sleep, hand rubbing at her eyes.
He lets out a louder purr, nipping softly at her shoulder. She rolls back over, settling into sleep again, Tusk wrapping himself around her tightly, holding onto her determined not to let go.
**********
Chloe wakes up warm and comfortable. Her head is moving slightly, up and down in a smooth pattern. She would have been convinced she was on a boat if the past day’s events weren’t flashing through her head.
She moves slightly, lifting her head so she can look up at him. His eyes are closed, face relaxed as he sleeps. Chloe wants to move away from him but she’s stuck to his side by the arm around her waist. Her leg is thrown over his, body pressed tight against his side. She rests her chin on his chest, fingers tracing the mottled pattern of his skin. She doesn't remember him coming back, doesn’t even remember him joining her in bed.
She can’t help but remember the day before. The anger in his eyes, the roar. She’ll always remember that roar. More so that it was directed at her. But staring at him now while he’s sleeping, it’s hard to picture him as that fearsome predator she had seen yesterday. He’s still fearsome, but there’s a softness about him in his sleep. This is the Tusk she knew.
She looks back up at his eyes, finding them open and staring at her. She had been so lost in thought she hadn’t realized he had woken up. Hadn’t felt the change in his breathing. He stares at her with his yellow eyes, all signs of anger and malice gone. Her wandering hand is almost at his jaw now, her fingers wrapping around one of his locks. He lets out a trill and suddenly she finds herself laying on top of him.
“You scared me.” She says quietly, running her fingers over his lock, feeling the texture of it. “I thought...maybe...”
A purr rumbles through his body and into hers, vibrating every inch of her. His hand is splayed on her back, the other tracing the skin on the back of her thigh. “No hurt Yeyinde.”
Chloe lowers her gaze for a moment before looking back up at him. His hand has drifted down her back, splayed out on her lower back now. She can feel his heart thumping in his chest, an unusual rhythm to what she’s used to, but it’s become comforting to her now. She wraps her hand around his lock, tugging on it lightly. His body jerks under hers, hips shifting slightly. She gets a mischievous glint in her eye, tangling a hand in his locks before tugging hard.
He lets out a roar, but this one is different than the one he’d made yesterday. She’s familiar with this roar, having heard it before. She tugs again and he’s sitting up, her body dropping the few inches into his lap. Her shirt is history, claws leaving light lines on her skin as he rids her of the fabric, hands sliding up her sides. His nails brush against her nipples, making her shiver. He does it again, her body starting to flush in response.
He leans down close to her but her hand in his locks stops him. He stares at her with a question in his eyes.
“No.” She says, tugging on his locks again, his breath fanning over her face in a huff at the motion.
She stands up on the bed, standing over him, and for a moment he wonders if she’s changed her mind, or it wasn’t what she wanted in the first place. But the moment her knee hits his chest, attempting to shove him back onto the bed he understands. Her hand yanks his head back as he grabs her leg, his other hand pushing against her back. She tugs his locks again as he flips her, easily overpowering her in this fight as she winds up on her stomach on the bed.
He’s faster than she is, somehow having removed his loincloth in the time between when she’d hit him and when she’d been flipped. His hand presses between her shoulders, her head turning so she can still breathe. Her pants are yanked down, hips being lifted and rested on something soft. She goes limp as he positions her, taking a moment to make sure she’s comfortable before his hand is between her legs.
She’s already wet, slick and warm against his fingers. A breathy moan leaves her lips as he brushes over her clit, hips jerking slightly to chase his fingers. He purrs deeply, the head of his length replacing his fingers, running it along her slit. Her blatant displays of aggression towards him, along with her hand in his locks, had pushed him over the edge, his length straining against his loincloth painfully until he had released it. He was well versed in doing this quickly, having to tame several females who had fought him for dominance in bed. But she wasn’t a Yautja female. She had given over quickly, and he had made sure to be gentle with her. She had known she wouldn’t win against him, her actions were solely to rile him up.
He’s not as gentle this time, offering her no preparation as he begins to press himself inside her. A low whine leaves her lips at the stretch, her body having forgotten already what it was like. He seemed bigger than before, her body stretching, trying to fit him in.
She’s glad the pillows are holding her hips up, her legs already shaking by the time he’s seated as far as he can go. His own breathing is labored, mandibles flared at the sensation of her tight, wet heat. He begins to move his hips, fighting the resistance of her body as he pumps himself in and out of her. She’s slowly relaxing, hands gripping the blankets on the bed, the most endearing sounds leaving her lips.
He snaps his hips into hers, her body jerking in response. Her eyes roll closed, a high pitched moan leaving her lips. His mandibles click together in a laugh, repeating the action. She tightens around him even more, a deep growl leaving him in response. He picks up speed quickly, thrusting in and out of her hard. He folds his body over hers, hands resting near her head as he mates her the Yautja way. The sound is wet, along with skin slapping skin and their moans and growls.
He leans down, shifting his hips slightly as his mandibles trace along her face, tongue tasting the sweat on her skin. She grips the blankets tighter, squeezing impossibly tight around him, ooman words spilling from her lips before she goes silent for a moment. A long, keening whine leaves her then, eyelashes fluttering. She’s squeezing him, fluttering around him. He growls, hands gripping her hips as he picks up speed even more, thrusting harder and harder into her.
His hips still, head rearing back as he lets out a roar, length pulsing as he releases inside of her. Pleasure tingles through him, traveling along his spine into his stomach and through his length. His little ooman is whimpering at the sensation, legs trembling still from her own release.
He pulls out of her, sitting back and watching as their mixed fluids drip from inside of her. He leans down close to her, letting his tongue run the length of her slit. Her hips jerk in response, her back arching slightly. She’s tangy on his tongue, mixed with his musky flavor. He finds he likes the taste, pressing back in for more.
**********
Chloe can barely leave the bed for a week. She had complained about being bored and having nothing to do, but she hadn’t quite had this in mind when she had said that. Tusk had become relentless, every moment he wasn’t fixing the ship, feeding her, or sleeping he was between her legs. He let her take the lead sometimes, but others he was ruthlessly fucking into her, leaving her with bruises and scratches. She can’t exactly complain, though. For all of their differences, he at least knew how to be a decent lover. She’d lost count of the time she’d cum from him.
But thankfully he seems to be slowing down, spending more and more time fixing the ship, meaning it was close to being done. Perhaps that meant they would be leaving soon. Where they were going to go, however, she hadn’t gotten an answer. Perhaps because Tusk didn’t know either.
She’s also thankful he’s gone more because she’s started to feel sick. She was eating less, none of the foods he brought seeming to be appetizing to her anymore. She had managed to stomach most of them before, but it seemed like she had lost all taste from them. Her mind comes back to the stories she’d read about alien diseases, bacteria and microscopic lifeforms brought back from space destroying humanity. Could she have gotten some sort of space parasite suddenly? Had that been why he’d been so adamant about her staying in the room?
Chloe rests her head on the edge of the toilet seat, or what she calls the toilet seat, wiping some of the sweat from her brow. She’d puked up breakfast again, thankfully Tusk gone from the room so he wouldn’t be worried. She felt fine otherwise, just nauseous and tired.
She washes her hands, splashing water on her face before going back to the room. She’s barely sat on the bed when Tusk comes into the room, leaving the door open for a change.
“Come. We leave now.”
“Now?” Chloe asks, watching Tusk grab the few things they had accumulated during their stay.
“Yes. We go now.”
Before she knows it she’s back on the ship, tucked safely in Tusk’s bed as he takes off. Her stomach lurches as they leave the planet, threatening to bring up the nonexistent food left. She lays there, thinking for a moment when it suddenly hits her. Her stomach drops as the ship rocks as they leave the atmosphere, eyes wide as she calculates the numbers in her head. She didn’t know exactly, but from what she could figure out, it had to be true.
She rises out of bed, making her way from his room towards the control deck. She doesn't get that far, however, Tusk meeting her halfway.
“Yeyinde.” He says, pausing mid-step.
“Tusk, I need to talk to you. I want to know where we’re going.”
“Somewhere safe.” He says, moving past her.
“Tusk, please, tell me.” She turns to him, watching him go with a sigh. “Tarei’hsan.”
He stops at her attempted pronunciation of his real name. He turns slowly to face her, shoulders tensed. She approaches him, staring up at his face through the helmet.
“Tusk, I’m...” She bites her lip. She’s not sure if the word will translate correctly or even have a meaning to him. So instead she grabs his hand, putting it over her stomach. “Pup.”
He stares down at his hand for a long time, her small one covering his where it’s resting over her stomach. He rapidly switches through signatures on his helmet, finding the small zygote resting in her body every time. It’s faint and barely there, but he can see it.

EPILOGUE: 40 years later
Chloe steps out of the hut as the ship lands in the clearing. The other members of their clan, cast outs and loners like them stepping out as well. They had been gone for weeks now, something Chloe had gotten used to after Naugui was born. Tusk had been adamant about raising him the Yautja way. Chloe had no problem with that, after all, Naugui took after his father in every way. An outsider would have questioned whether he was Chloe’s son, but he knew, and so did his parents. Chloe had nearly died birthing him herself, and it was something she would never forget.
She pulls her greying hair back, tying it up from her face as Naugui and Tusk step out of the ship. Tusk had managed to keep himself connected to other Yautja clans without them knowing, secretly spying on them since he left. There had been talk recently, worrying talk. There had been word of an invasion on Earth spreading through some of the clans. Tusk and Naugui had gone to see if it was true.
Chloe can tell by their body language when they approach her what the answer is.
“What do we do?” Chloe asks, wrapping her arms around Naugui.
“We can do nothing,” Tusk says, cupping her face.
“Earth was my home once. To think it could be gone...wiped out...” She chews on her lip, Naugui pulling away from her slightly.
“The armor.” He says, looking to Tusk. “If it can get to Earth...”
“No.” Tusk says. “It’s too risky.”
“They need a chance to defend themselves. Oomans are part of me. If I can give them a chance, I will take it.”
Tusk lets out a breath Chloe understands the meaning of. She turns back to her son, wrapping her arms around him tightly. She knows the risk well. She’d heard first hand the whispers. Being the clan leader’s wife she knew everything he did. If Naugui did this, there was a strong chance he would not be coming back. But that was the Yautja way. It was a risk they took on every hunt. A fear they faced unflinchingly.
“Do your best, son,” Chloe says, cupping his cheek through his helmet.
He leans forward, resting his forehead against hers for a moment before standing up straight. Chloe watches him walk to the ship, leaning against Tusks’ side, ruminating on the fact this could be the last time she sees her son.

Summary: Lena Luthor sees the world in black and white. Like everyone else, she'll see colors for the first time when she meets her soulmate. And though she's not exactly convinced this system makes scientific sense, she's (mostly) made peace with it. When a fateful meeting with Supergirl makes her world burst into color, Lena is sure the amount of nonsense in her life has reached critical mass. But in just her first morning in National City, Lena manages to also be associated with a spacecraft explosion, and attract the journalistic attention of one Clark Kent and his sidekick, CatCo Magazine's Kara Danvers. And the worst part is, meeting Supergirl may have given Lena's world color, but she's sure it's Kara Danvers brightening it up. It's that 'all the world is in black and white until you meet your soulmate AU', with Supercorp.
Notes: Written for FlashFictionFridays prompt 'undiscovered colors' as a tiny oneshot, but the idea wouldn't leave my head so I decided to turn it into a Proper Fic. It's all outlined and planned but I'm not sure how many chapters it'll end up being in the end so I'm leaving that up in the air for now!
[Part 1 on AO3]
Lena Luthor sees the world in black and white.
It’s not a metaphor, mind you. She literally sees the world in black and white. There are shades of gray, of course, but that’s it. That’s all.
And she knows, because she’s been told countless times, that it’s normal. It’s simply the way the world works. From infancy, she’s heard all about it in fairy tales and movies, in songs and in books and in conversations around her: you get your colors when you meet your soulmate.
And it’s not that Lena doesn’t believe it. It’d be illogical not to at this point. This isn’t an elaborate lie thought up by adults to keep children on their best behavior, like Father Christmas and the Tooth Fairy. The whole world can’t be in on a lie. So it must be the truth. It’s just that it doesn’t make any sense.
How can meeting someone alter the way you perceive the world? And she doesn’t mean in the sense that the sun shines brighter and the birds chirp louder because you’re in love, or whatever nonsense people are trying to sell in Valentine’s Day cards these days.
No.
She means, how can meeting someone fundamentally alter the way your brain processes   the information from your optic nerves? It doesn’t make any sense.
So she’s been trying to cheat the system for years. Ever since she realized just how ridiculous this whole thing was when she had to console a heartbroken Andrea in their dorm room after their first kiss didn’t result in a chromatic explosion for either of them.
What’s a soulmate, anyway? What is a soul, even?
Lena may have never seen the color green, but she’s learned its wavelength is between 500 and 565 nanometers. She’s built glasses that can tell you exactly the colors you’re looking at, even if you can’t see them. She knows colors objectively exist even if she’s never seen one, so it’s not that she needs visual proof to believe in the existence of something.
Well, then. What’s a soul? What’s its wavelength? Where’s the chemical footprint it leaves on the brain? How can you have a soulmate if there’s no such thing as a soul?
How can your full perception of the world hinge upon meeting someone whose alleged connection to you is based upon something that may very well not even exist? How can something so important — the ability to fully see the world as it is — hinge on something as arbitrary as meeting your so-called soulmate?
(No, sixteen-year-old Andrea Rojas was not particularly comforted by this speech.)
So this has always been a sort of side project for Lena. Figuring out how to cheat this nonsensical system. Whatever happens when you meet your alleged soulmate, there has to be a way to boil it down to its bare essentials. We’re made up of organs made up of tissues made up of cells. It’s chemistry, all of it. And if it’s chemistry, she can figure it out.
But not today.
Today is a big day. It’s the day Luthor Corp becomes L-Corp, and that’s far more important than debunking this soulmate nonsense everyone keeps eating up. It’s her first day in National City, and she’s so excited — so nervous, deep down — that she’s walking to work instead of taking her usual car. She wants to feel the city around her. Feel how different it is from Metropolis and let herself have the true fresh start she very much needs.
She’s so focused on all that, in fact, that she may not be paying too much attention when she crosses a street. She hears the screeching of rubber on asphalt, a loud horn… and suddenly she’s safe and sound on the other side of the street.
“Wh—“ Lena’s heart races as she looks at the car speeding through the crossing where she was a split second ago, and tries to make sense of how she managed to apparently teleport to the safety of the sidewalk. “What—?”
“Are you all right?” A woman’s voice snaps Lena out of her daze. “You really should pay more attention!”
Lena looks up to see a bright wide smile and a set of blue eyes staring back at her, not an ounce of judgment in them even though—
Wait.
Blue eyes.
Lena blinks, eyes widening at the realization that the woman’s hair is golden blond as it shines under the sunlight. There’s the lightest pink on her cheeks, which Lena takes as the result of saving someone’s life, and she’s wearing—
Oh.
“Supergirl,” Lena breathes out, and she’s not sure whether she’s having more difficulty wrapping her mind around suddenly seeing color, suddenly meeting Supergirl, or both of those things happening at the same time.
“Are you sure you’re all right?” Supergirl looks slightly concerned. “You look like you’re about to pass out.”
“No!” Lena shakes her head. This is all a bit too much. Humans don’t have souls. Aliens likely don’t, either. Can Supergirl see colors, too? “No, I’m fine. I’m— thank you, Supergirl. I appreciate your help. Thanks.”
Supergirl doesn’t look too convinced, but she can’t ask any further questions before she hears something — she mutters something that sounds to Lena like ‘explosion’ — and flies away.
Lena wishes she could say she’s figured things out in the couple of hours between her near death experience and Clark Kent walking into her office with a young woman in tow, but she’d be lying.
There’s been an explosion, and she’s — of course — somehow linked to it via the never-ending source of issues that is her last name, and now Clark Kent is here to be an extremely unbiased reporter, she’s sure. With everything that’s going on, the last thing on her mind has been Supergirl and the colors she’s somehow brought into Lena’s life.
Mind you, she’s sure it’s all as simple as the force of being moved at superspeed having knocked something around in her nervous system and made a new connection somewhere. She’s sure she’ll figure it out as soon as she can focus on it for a moment. But right now she has far more important things in her mind.
Except.
If her theory is right, it was Supergirl’s superspeed making her see colors by accident. And if the generally accepted theory is right (but it is absolutely not), then it was meeting Supergirl, her soulmate (oh, good grief), what caused it.
So.
Why does meeting Kara Danvers, not-a-reporter-just-tagging-along, make every color around her suddenly more vibrant than before? Why has she just realized the green on the succulent by the window is not the exact same shade as the green on the folder on her desk?
Lena Luthor hates when things don’t make any sense.

oh no... i heard that there would be a new the man who fell to earth movie or series (can't remember which it was) and got really excited because i love the novel as well and it would be so cool to see an accurate adaption. i haven't seen the trailer but i take your word for it not looking great in terms of sticking to the original plot.
don't get me wrong tho i do appreciate the 1976 movie. i mean i guess it has some artistic value (and bowie) 😅 but like i said i'd love to see an accurate adaption because the novel is so great and because it is quite short there would be no need to leave things out like in most book to movie adaptions.
btw have you heard of the man who fell to earth series they did in the 80's? the entire pilot episode is on youtube and i tried to watch it but didn't get too far because it was so bad. i'm still planning to watch the whole thing some day but i need to gather some strength first. 😂😂
It is so nice to finally find someone who's read the book. Also, this is gonna be like an essay length response because I can talk forever on this topic
I think the new movie/series/whatever definitely has a lot of potential but only if you view it without trying to compare it to the original movie and/or novel and just see it as a piece of stand alone media (which is impossible for me to do so I probably won't watch it cause it'll just make me mad ). I thought the design for the Antheans looked really cool, even though it wasn't totally accurate. And I'm sure the visuals will be rad the actors will probably do a decent job. For the plot it seems like it's going to be more about saving Earth from political drama and less about building a spacecraft to save the remaining Antheans (that might not be right but it's the impression I got from the trailer). And it seemed like they combined Nathan Bryce and Betty-Jo's characters into one... like why? And she has a daughter for some reason... also why? I know you can't really judge anything based off of two minutes of clips but from what I saw I don't have a high hopes for it.
Now when it comes to the Bowie version, the thing that disappoints me most about it is that they literally got The David Bowie - the best possible role for Thomas Jerome Newton (other than the hair color and height, the descriptions of him in the book fit Bowie EXACTLY) - and yet they STILL managed to ruin it. If the script had been decent it could have been an excellent film but no they had to change the story line up, add a pointless romance (despite the fact that Newton literally has a wife), and like five unnecessary sex scenes that add absolutely nothing. They made Nathan Bryce into an asshole perv, they made Betty Jo into Mary Lou, who is arguably the most insufferable character I've ever had the displeasure of encountering in a movie. However, that being said there are quite a few good parts. The scene where Newton smacks the tray of cookies is hilarious even though it's probably not meant to be. The Anthean costume design is absolutely rad as fuck. The scene where Newton reveals his alien form to Mary Lou is great and the one time where I can compliment Candy Clark's acting. The scene where the song Try To Remember plays is my favorite part of the whole thing. But all in all I honestly hate that movie.
And I have heard of the 80s one! But I didn't know it was a series, I thought it was a film. When I looked for it a few years ago I could never find anything but I looked up the plot on wikipedia, saw that they changed all of the characters names for no reason, and decided it probably wasn't worth finding to watch.
I could go on forever about this but I'll stop. Thank you for giving me an excuse to rant about it though 😂

Seasons
(A Steven Universe Fic, 2632 words)
Written with love for a holiday exchange with the wonderful @mimik-u !
Prompt: Steven teaches one of the Diamonds about something beautifully mundane (a la Peridot learning about rain.)
--
It’s almost comical how the Dondai pales in size when compared to the Arm Ship—and the magnitude of the difference only grows as Steven descends the ridge. There are some items, both of human and Gem origin, that seemed larger when he was smaller—when he was younger—when everything mysterious in the world, every new thing he learned about himself, filled him with wonder. The Diamond ships, however, are not among these items. They’re as large now as they always seemed to him, if not quite as foreboding. As are the Diamonds themselves, and he is reminded of this, as Yellow disembarks from her spacecraft.
She doesn’t see him right away. Or if she does notice the car, she doesn’t have the frame of reference to recognize it as his, and even after he parks it beside the ship and gets out, it’s several moments before she turns around and acknowledges him standing there.
“Steven!”
“Hey, Yellow.”
“When I called, I hadn’t realized…” She sputters. “Your...your family returned my message to inform me that you were leaving on a conquest—”
“A conquest?”
“Yes, they said that you were going to travel—”
“Yeah, but not on a conquest!”
“Of course, of course, a scouting mission, then—”
“No! Nothing like that! Just a trip! I just...needed to hit the road for a while. Figure out what’s next.”
“I...right, of course. Your—I mean, the Pearl said that you would be taking a hiatus from your Diamond duties…”
At this, Steven chuckles. “Pearl wants me to.” But then he becomes serious. “I shouldn’t laugh. She’s trying to make sure that I take care of myself. She—all of them really, want to make sure I know that I don’t have to be involved in any Gem stuff if I don’t want to. That it’s my choice. And ya know, it’s true that I don’t want it to be my whole life, not like it was when I was a kid. And because there’s no hierarchy anymore, I do want to give other Gems a chance to manage things on Earth if they want to—to show them it doesn’t always have to be a Diamond, and I’m not a Diamond anyway—but I do want to be involved, ya know? Or at least know what’s going on! I put so much work into everything, and not all of it was bad. I was really proud of a lot of what we did, and the Gems are my family…” A pause. “Anyway, that’s all to say that I routed some of the messages from the Base to my phone.”
“I see. I…” She pauses. “I didn’t intend...You did not need to come. I merely called because I didn’t want to catch you off guard. Give your...our...Given my history, I thought if I showed up on your planet unannounced—”
“It’s not my planet.”
“No, of course not. I meant the planet on which you reside. I’ve already...I did not intend to make you feel that…that you needed to come fix—”
Steven raises a hand. “I know. I just happened to be in the area, so I thought I’d stop by. Say hi.”
“Ah. Alright.” The silence resounds. Yellow’s eyes flit away.
“So,” Steven says after a moment—looking for something, anything, to cut through the quiet. “Why Zona?”
“Is that what this place is called?” Yellow glances around. “I needed an area of the Earth where I would cause the least disruptions, where I could dig a sufficiently large hole such that I could access the Cluster. I initially planned on going to one of the Kindergartens, as we’d already irrevocably destroyed all hope of organic life thriving there—I thought I could minimize the destruction. But each already has a fairly extensive subterranean framework that makes it impossible for me to dig deep enough.” She sighs. “I realize this place isn’t perfect. My digging will certainly disrupt some of the plant life. But it appeared at least that there were few humans in the vicinity…”
“Mm.” Steven leads against the hood of his car. “I’m surprised you brought your ship out here and didn’t just Warp. We’re not that far from the Beta Kindergarten, and there’s a Warp there...”
“Those Warps weren’t built for us. We’re much too large.”
“I guess that’s true, but you could always shapeshift.”
“Hmm. I suppose. But there was also the equipment to bring.”
“Equipment?”
“Yes, I...There are...billions of shards in the Cluster. I figured...if I am going to dismantle it and reconstruct each of the Gems whose shards it conatiend, it would likely be easier for me to do it on Earth, rather than bringing all the Shards back to Homeworld. I don’t want to risk losing any of them or damaging any of them even further in transit…And while I may need to ultimately to transport some of them back to Homeworld to locate all the pieces, and though it may be disconcerting for the other Gems to reform on Earth...I…” She leaves the syllable hanging in the air, turns her head away. Steven can just barely make out her tense jaw as though she is gritting her teeth. Sparks radiate from her skin.
“Yellow? Are you...okay?”
“I’m fine!” But then she bows her head, inhales and releases, murmurs: “I apologize, Steven. I am not angry with you. I simply…It has been difficult enough for me to face each of the Gems I have reconstructed on Homeworld. Once they recover from the shock and the terror, they have each looked at me with such disdain. And those Fusion experiments, while they were certainly terrible, pale in comparison to the Cluster. I can only imagine what each of the Gem’s contained within it will feel. And I will deserve it. I hurt so many Gems in the service of the Empire.”
Steven opens his mouth to respond, but before he can, Yellow continues, speaking ever rapidly, ever louder, as though desperate to expel the words. “Do not try to assuage my guilty conscience! That...is not your responsibility. I shouldn’t have just put you in a position to think that it was.”
Another tentative backpedaling, Steven thinks. A walking on eggshells moment, like he’s witnessed with the Gems and Dad over the past several months. And difficult though it is for him to sometimes believe, it’s not as though Yellow is wrong, at least not if he trusts his therapist. But there is a distant look in her eye, a panicked tension in her cheeks, which, when coupled with the fact that this is the first time he’s seen her since his breakdown, makes Steven wonder if she is remembering that day on the beach.
His own memories of it are fuzzy-to-nonexistant; he remembers the pain, and the panic, and the anger he’d held despite knowing that he shouldn't. Then, he has a vague impression of multiple embraces, of Connie kissing his forehead, of crying hot, cathartic tears...And then he’d woken up in the Cluster’s hand, with the eyes of most of the people he loved and almost everyone he’d ever fought all on him.
Despite his own lack of recollection, however, Connie assures him that she’d given everyone—the Diamonds included—something of a blunt talking to that day, a rallying speech, but she won’t elaborate on the specifics of what exactly she’d said. Might that—whatever its contents— be behind Yellow’s hasty assurances now?
“Okay,” Steven responds finally. “I won’t try to make you feel less guilty. But can I show you something?”
Yellow furrows her eyebrows. “Very well.”
“It’s just on the top of the canyon.”
They deliberate for a few moments on the details. Yellow offers to carry him, but even if she’s not White, Steven declines being held in a Diamond’s hand, and while she could shapeshift to fit in the passenger seat of the Dondai, she ultimately elects to simply follow behind the car as Steven slowly drives it up the cliff.
They reach the plateau just as the sun begins to dip in the horizon, casting a golden glow over the grass, over the Autumn leaves, just starting to paint themselves with the vibrant shades that return year after year.
Steven opens the door and steps out. “You never spent much time on Earth, did you?”
Yellow considers. “No.”
“Do you know what I think my mom fell in love with about this planet?”
“Organic life, of course. Humans.” She gestures to Steven. “Obviously.”
“Well, yeah, but not just them. Us. I think it was this stuff too.”
Yellow squints. “These weeds?! These...dying outgrowths?!”
“With things that change. Things that grow. There’s so much of it here.”
“Hm.”
Steven paces over to the grass, then sinks down onto it so that it brushes against his bare calves. It’s mostly soft on his skin but there are dryer patches too, scratchier places on the ground as some of the longer areas start to dry out for the season. The sun dips lower in the sky, and it leaks hues of pink and orange onto the daytime canvas of darkening blue. Yellow looms behind him.
“Feel this.” He pats the ground next to him, and tries not to wince as Yellow’s gargantuan hand settles down on the grass. “You might not be able to tell, but it’s growing. Even right now. By the time the snow—frozen water that falls from the sky—starts to cover it in a few months, it’ll probably be a few inches taller than it is right now. And then it’ll take a break for a while, but when Spring comes next year—when the weather gets warmer again—it’ll start again.
“The trees too. Look out there—they grow taller every year, and every year the leaves change into those beautiful colors you can see. And the shades are similar every year, but never exactly the same. Then the leaves fall off, and then bud again and come back. And the trees keep getting taller. And every time the leaves return, the whole tree is a little bit different too.”
Yellow hesitates. “These are familiar to me. Someone, I believe a Peridot—your Peridot—”
“She’s not my Peridot, but I know who you mean.”
“Yes...Well, she brought some of these...trees...from Earth to Homeworld, and determined how best to make them grow there. I’ve been gazing at them through the windows of the palace ever since, but I hadn’t realized how elaborate, how ever-present, their growth cycles were…”
“I’ve lived on Earth my whole life, and I only just started thinking about it recently. It’s easy to take for granted, but it’s really incredible when you stop to think about it.” He angles his head upward. “And it’s not just the plants. Look at the sky. It changes like this every day.” A pause. “Well, it’s really not the sky that’s changing—Connie told me that it’s an effect of how the planet moves around our sun. But from down here on Earth, it looks like it’s always changing. In a different way every day. I don’t think it’s like that on Homeworld.”
Yellow settles next to him at last, squatting, and then kneeling. “It isn’t. Things are constructed on Homeworld—not grown. We have a sun, but our sky does not transform like this.”
“Exactly. And I think that’s why my mom fell in love with the Earth so much. She was so in awe of how everything naturally grew and changed here.” Steven sighs, clenches him gemstone beneath his hand. “I’m still angry at her a lot of the time, but, like, I get it. She saw herself as this monster.” Here Steven pauses, glances away for a moment before finally letting the words return. “And she didn’t think that she was capable of growth or change. All she thought she could do was pretend to be someone else. And then she found herself on this planet where all anything did was grow for real, and she wanted to be a part of that even in some small way, so she made me.”
“Steven…”
“But the point is, she was wrong. She could have grown as herself. I think she did, even if she couldn’t see it. And she and I aren't the only Gems that grew. All of my friends and family have. None of us is the same as we were when I was a kid. Maybe it just took coming to Earth to see that, ya know? Gems can grow and change, just like the trees can, and the grass, and the sky.
“So yeah,” Steven continues. “White hurt you, and you hurt Mom, and Mom hurt Pearl and Garnet and Amethyst and Spinel and you, and everyone she hurt hurt me, and I hurt Jasper and Dad and a lot of people and could have hurt a lot more, and you hurt all the Gems who were corrupted, and who became the Fusion experiments and the Cluster...and that’s all true, and we all have to deal with that and make the things we did wrong right the best that we can. And it’s hard, and it sucks. But the ways we’ve been hurt and hurt other people aren’t all we are. We can grow and change too. As ourselves. I think the Earth is just one big reminder of that.”
Yellow’s brows are once again furrowed, her jaw agape. “I…”
“So, yeah, it’s going to be hard to face all the Gems in the Cluster as you put them all back together. But it’s the right thing to do. And if it ever becomes too much, you can always come up here, and watch the world change and grow to remind yourself that you’re growing too. You’re better than you were, and if you keep working at it, you’ll keep getting better.”
Then, without waiting for Yellow to respond, Steven stands, walks back over to the Dondai. “Now, I gotta hit the road. I want to get to Vegas by tomorrow. It was nice to see you, Yellow.”
“You as well, Steven.” Yellow rises to her feet.
“Good luck,” he calls out the window as he pulls away, and glancing in the rearview mirror, he sees Yellow’s arm raised in farewell, something like a small, apprehensive smile on her lips.
Six months later, after a sojourn up and down the West Coast, Steven returns to the ridge en route back to Beach City for a visit. He pulls up just as the sun is rising over the canyon, glinting off Yellow’s arm ship, and off of the chest and arms and backs of the little gaggle of Gems gathered next to the ship and the adjacent hole. Yellow is not among them, though. She stands on the crest of the cliff, gazing at the trees, at the little buds beginning to spring into being on each branch.
“Steven.” She turns to him in greeting as he gets out of the car.
“You’ve been busy!”
“Yes, we’re progressing nicely.”
“We?”
Yellow nods. “Some of the Gems I reconstructed from the Cluster decided to remain here to help. Then others in Little Homeworld—and even a few on Homeworld itself—learned about what we were doing, and traveled here to volunteer.” She pauses. “They’re here for the sake of the Gems inside the Cluster, not for me. Still, it is nice not to be alone.”
“Mm.”
Yellow turns from the trees to the canyon, in the direction of the rising sun. The growing orange light catches her Gemstone too, and it glimmers in it. “It’s a beautiful morning.”
“Yeah,” Steven says. “It is.”

I finished premium pandemonium recently and I just... <3
I still don't wanna let it go like after you finish a really good book! So is there any little fun facts about that universe that you didn't get to mention before that you wanna share now?
I feel the same way, anon! I’ve been having a hard time letting it go too, which is why I’m writing more fics for it :) There’s one in the works, and since I’m reading the latest book in the series it’s based off of, I’ve been getting even more ideas :)
Facts, though! There are definitely some interesting facts I can share. I also suggest digging through my Premium Pandemonium tag, where I answered questions after I finished posting the original fic.
Some other tidbits and behind-the-scenes:
Before fleeing the Covenant, Shiro was set up for an arranged marriage, since the Covenant likes to ensure they will always have a new generation of skilled agents and the Shirogane lineage is highly coveted. Presumably his fiancée-to-be was let off the hook once he was presumed dead. Of course, this was all arranged before he even started questioning his sexuality, so he never actually questioned the plan to marry him off. None of the others know about this or they’d probably all be horrified, but it’s not something he ever thought to mention.
Along those lines, when I was originally writing up the first draft notes for this story, Shiro’s encounter with Nyma was originally intended to make him look crazy prepared, by just always having lilu charms on him. Then the series officially recognized him as gay, at which point I just shrugged and made him immune to succubi instead. (This meant I also had to ensure he was crazy prepared to fight Macidus later, but it worked out better that way anyway).
Shiro is a bit of an unreliable narrator in Premium Pandemonium. There’s hints about it in Keith’s 2 chapters, but he’s a lot more paranoid than his narration would let on, sometimes to the exasperation of others. He has no social media presence and almost never lets anyone take photographs of him unless it’s secured. This also goes for any of his alias roles, including ‘Ryou Tanaka,’ leading most of his self-defense students to share increasingly wild and highly inaccurate conspiracy theories as to why their friendly self defense teacher is not in touch with the internet world at all.
Unlike his canon counterpart, Shiro can’t pilot most aircraft. He does know how to operate some helicopters, but it’s been a while since he’s had to and his skills are a bit rusty. That said, he would probably jump at the chance to learn to fly a plane. (Since PP is set in the modern era, spacecraft will pretty much never be a thing he can learn).
Since they’re both cosmic forces, Crossroads!Lotor has met Bob at least once. They don’t terribly care for each other, or the other’s methods of dealing with mortals.
Lotor was also not intended to show up in the final battle in the initial rough draft, but while on a walk I had such a spark of inspiration for how to include him that I reworked half the ending. That’s actually what this post was about.
There are a lot of scenarios where I would’ve loved to write the POV of other characters but had to stick with Shiro. Other scenes that would’ve been fun to write would include:
Lance and Hunk moving suncoma!Keith during the Sanda incident
The team breaking in to find and rescue Shiro when he’d been captured
Lance and Keith rescuing people on the campus when they split from Hunk and Shiro
Allura’s POV when she first discovered a Shirogane in her city, or during the fight at the end
The Aeslin mouse religion was altered a little to be different from the book series. In that series, ‘gods’ and ‘priestesses’ are based on either being born into the main family or marrying into it. Since I wanted to write a platonic, found-family story, but I also wanted the aeslin dynamics, I restructured their religious beliefs to be centered around those Allura’s lineage considers ‘family.’
Thanks for reading anon. I’m glad you enjoyed the fic :) And if you still can’t let go, I highly recommend picking up the InCryptid series, which is excellent!
