The legendary singer died at her home in Switzerland on Wednesday, May 24
By Zoey Lyttle and  Maria Mercedes Lara Updated on May 24, 2023 07:04PM EDT
Tumblr media
Tina Turner, the iconic singer who was dubbed the "Queen of Rock'n Roll," died on Wednesday, May 24, at the age of 83. Her publicist Bernard Doherty confirmed to PEOPLE that she died in her home near Zurich, Switzerland.
"Tina Turner, the "Queen of Rock'n Roll" has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland. With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model," Doherty said in a statement. "There will be a private funeral ceremony attended by close friends and family. Please respect the privacy of her family at this difficult time."
As the front-woman for the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, Turner's performance prowess made her and her then-husband Ike Turner one of the most electrifying acts of the 1960s, serving up high octane covers of "Proud Mary," "Come Together," and "I Want to Take You Higher." Turner eventually struck out on her own as a solo artist in the '70s and became a star in the MTV age with hits like "What's Love Got to Do with It," "The Best," and "Private Dancer."
We'll be documenting live updates as celebrity tributes flood in and the world remembers the legendary performer.

After news of Turner's death at 83 on Wednesday, Bassett wrote on Instagram, "How do we say farewell to a woman who owned her pain and trauma and used it as a means to help change the world?"
"Her final words to me — for me — were, 'You never mimicked me. Instead, you reached deep into your soul, found your inner Tina, and showed her to the world.' I shall hold these words close to my heart for the rest of my days. I am honored to have known Tina Turner," she said.

Inside Tina Turner's 37-Year Romance with Erwin Bach
Tina Turner found her king when she met her future second husband Erwin Bach at an airport nearly 40 years ago. The music legend opened up about her romance with Bach, now 67, in her 2021 HBO documentary Tina.
"He was [16 years] younger [than me]. He was 30 years old at the time and had the prettiest face. I mean, you cannot [describe] it. It was like insane. [I thought], 'Where did he come from?' He was really so good-looking. My heart [was beating fast] and it means that a soul has met, and my hands were shaking," Turner recalled in the film.
Inside Tina Turner's Health Struggles
Throughout her longstanding 60-year career, the Queen of Rock was often vocal about her health struggles, which date back to 1978 when she was diagnosed with hypertension.
She detailed the experience in an interview with the European Health Kidney Alliance explaining, "I can’t remember ever getting an explanation about what high blood pressure means or how it affects the body. I considered high blood pressure my normal. Hence, I didn’t really try to control it."
With her condition left untreated, Turner suffered a stroke in 2013 just three weeks after she wed her husband, Erwin Bach. Her health took a turn for the worse again in 2016 when she was diagnosed with intestinal cancer.
After experiencing unpleasant side effects from her initial treatment, Turner turned to homeopathic remedies, which only worsened her condition and led her to have total kidney failure. She received a largely successful kidney donation operation from Bach in April 2017, though Turner still experienced mild symptoms.

Jagger’s bandmate Ronnie Wood also shared some words and snapshots in Turner’s honor.
“God bless you Tina, the Queen Of Rock And Soul and a dear friend to our family. Love and prayers to all of Tina’s family, friends and loved ones,” Wood wrote alongside a carousel of pictures with the late singer. Two of the photos saw Turner with Wood’s twin 6-year-old daughters, Gracie Jane and Alice Rose, during their toddler years.
Tina Turner's Manager, Roger Davies, Pays Tribute
Turner’s longtime manager, Roger Davies, paid tribute to the late Queen of Rock in a statement to PEOPLE.
“Tina was a unique and remarkable force of nature with her strength, incredible energy and immense talent,” the music producer said. “From the first day I met her in 1980 she believed in herself completely when few others did at that time.”
He continued: “It was a privilege and an honour to have been a close friend as well as her manager for more than 30 years. I will miss her deeply.”

There are some characters I don’t include such as Zackly, Hannes, Grisha, Eren Kruger, and Lara Tybur, because I have no idea who should play them. As for the 104th cadets and the Warriors, I prefer them to be played by entirely new actors and actresses.

I'm thinking of building a hood with all my favourite premades. So far, the list of who I want in there includes:
Adult Tank and Johnny as husbands
PT9 and his mom, possibly with him as a teen dating Jenny? Idk how to get the timeline to make any sense with adult Johnny being there though.
Stella Terrano and Klara Vonderstein as wives
The entire Summerdream fairy court
Galactic Empress Bella Goth
Kevin Beare
Erwin Pries
I'm not quite sure on a theme of the hood yet. While a space theme makes sense, the Summerdreams and Kevin are really out of place there, plus I keep making space hoods. I kinda feel like Klara and Stella would move back to Sim Germany together, so I feel a European hood could be fun. Then again, why is (extremely canonical because there's like one reference to her in the Sims 3 time machine) Galactic Empress Bella Goth there??? Choices.
Honorable mentions I might still include are:
The rest of Glarn and Glabe's family
PT7, Tango and Flamenco
The Landgraab Clones
Katarina Stewart

Okay.
Trying to say this in a nice way- that when Blacktober comes out instead of drawing canon black characters people go out their way to make edits and yknow thats fine you do you. But in case people online who participate and think ah I forgot about this character from this show oh well. SO heres a compilation that I made;
Lola Mbola best friend to Mc in the Show "Robot Boy." And John Stewart in Justice League [My favourite character as a kid along with hawkgirl] Along with Vixen and Cyborg from Teen titans cartoon network [I would show pictures but tumblr only has ten limit ;^;]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Boom Crew isn't a great show by all means but I remember watching a couple episodes at night and enjoyed them as a kid.
Tumblr media
Codename kids next door: Number Five and her sister I have to say these two were my favourite having two siblings as rival of kid VS teenager, and how I thought NUmber five would take over as the leader when Number one got older - HONESTLY why isn't there a sequel of Codename and have all the kids becomming teenagers and fighting against the kids AND adults???
Tumblr media
Next is Erwin from Billy and mandy along with Dracula although I'm not sure what the census on dracula if thats racist or just the best thing ever along with Grim having a jamacan accent so take this one with a grain of salt. [if it is problematic let me know I'll remove it from the list]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then next is Kinkade and Hunk from voltron [Voltron is hot garbage but the characters are FINE though, so yeah]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then theres Naruto with Killer bee and the Sand village [I think it's been a while I may need to rewatch it]
Tumblr media
Then theres Static Shock [The og miles morales Lol] In the sense that both are the kids who look up to older father figures who are their idols [batman superman/spiderman] are basically the audiance adjacent wacky teenager with the world on their shoulder/ electric powers and how they have episodes/moments that discuss racism.
Tumblr media
Then theres Kaleido Star, Carlos is THE boss and is in charge of Kaleido stage an anime about circus performers [acrobatic with story telling its really good] and mr policemen who is the main characters number one fan and is really funny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then theres Tucker and Valerie from Danny Phantom;
Tumblr media
Oh yeah and Bumblebee
Tumblr media
Then theres Vincent from recess [face it he was too cool for Tg and the others]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then Sasha from Bratz
Then Anythy from Revolutionary Girl Utena [Sapphic too] As well as Yosutora from bleach.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So a/n: As a kid I used to trace/edit make rpcs and recolours of naruto/sonic the hedgehog characters so making edits is something I'm fine with- its just seeing the Blacktober tag and seeing nothing BUT edits? Also if people want to reblog and add their own characters and include more since I havn't touched on Disneys Moana/ Tiana/ Kazazi Moto and the episode compilations and proud family, I just thought of placing all the characters here in case I forgot ^^; this post wasn't meant to be rude just a post compilation.

Jean Harlow and Marie Dressler in Dinner at Eight (George Cukor, 1933)
Cast: Marie Dressler, John Barrymore, Wallace Beery, Jean Harlow, Lionel Barrymore, Lee Tracy, Edmund Lowe, Billie Burke, Madge Evans, Jean Hersholt. Screenplay: Frances Marion, Herman J. Mankiewicz, based on a play by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber. Cinematography: William H. Daniels. Art direction: Hobe Erwin, Fredric Hope. Film editing: Ben Lewis. Music: William Axt.
It has always struck me as odd that Grand Hotel (Edmund Goulding, 1932) won the 1931-32 best picture Oscar, when Dinner at Eight, a similarly constructed all-star affair, was shut out of the nominations for the 1932-33 awards. Dinner at Eight is much the better picture, with a tighter, wittier script (by Frances Marion and Herman J. Mankiewicz, with additional dialogue by Donald Ogden Stewart) and a cast that includes three of the Grand Hotel stars: John Barrymore, Lionel Barrymore, and Jean Hersholt. Granted, it doesn't have Greta Garbo and Joan Crawford, but it has Jean Harlow and Marie Dressler at their best, and a director who knows how to keep things perking. (Cukor was, at least, nominated for Little Women instead.) It also has one of the great concluding scenes in movies, when everyone goes in to dinner and Kitty (Harlow) tells Carlotta (Dressler) that she's been reading a book, bringing the formidable bulk of Dressler to a lurching halt. (You've seen it a dozen times in clip shows of great movie moments. If not, go watch the movie.) Granted, too, that Dinner at Eight is not quite sure whether it's a comic melodrama or a melodramatic comedy, dealing as it does with the effects of the Depression on the rich and famous, with marital infidelity and suicide (both of them in ways that the Production Code would soon preclude -- as it would Harlow's barely there Adrian gowns). And there's some over-the-top hamming from both Barrymores. In fact, the performances in general are pitched a little too high, a sign that Cukor hadn't quite yet left his career as a stage director behind and discovered that a little less can be a lot more in movies. Nevertheless, it's a more-than-tolerable movie, and a damn sight better than the year's best picture winner, the almost unwatchable Cavalcade (Frank Lloyd).

The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of African-American and Caribbean-born military pilots who fought in WWII. They formed the 332nd Fighter Group and the 477th Bombardment Group of the Army Air Forces. The name applies to the navigators, bombardiers, mechanics, instructors, crew chiefs, nurses, cooks, and other support personnel.
All African American military pilots who trained in the US trained at Moton Field, the Tuskegee Army Air Field, and were educated at Tuskegee University. The group included five Haitians from the Haitian Air Force and one pilot from Trinidad. It included a Hispanic or Latino airman born in the Dominican Republic.

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2022
This year’s Nobel Prize in Physics is dedicated to quantum mechanics. Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr and Erwin Schrödinger all thought about quantum mechanics in 1935. Einstein challenged quantum mechanics and argued that although correct, it was not a complete theory. He thought there must be an underlying structure to quantum mechanics that so far had not revealed itself. Bohr, on the other hand, defended the theory and argued that it was complete. Finally, Schrödinger concluded that entanglement between two particles with a common past was the characteristic trait of quantum mechanics.
Most physicists sided with Bohr and noted Schrödinger’s characterisation of entanglement, but mostly they were not that interested. They were too busy applying quantum mechanics to real world problems, both of fundamental character and for practical applications. Several of these practitioners of quantum mechanics would eventually receive the Nobel Prize in Physics and many of the things we today take for granted, such as streamed television, fast internet, mobile phones, and a plethora of medical diagnostics tools, all have their origins in quantum mechanics. Indeed, the laureates of 2020 and 2021 − Roger Penrose, Reinhard Genzel, Andrea Ghez, Syukuro Manabe, Klaus Hasselmann and Giorgio Parisi − are no exceptions.
While the world moved on, a few physicists continued to think about the foundations of quantum mechanics. In 1964, John Stewart Bell invented a mathematical formula, Bell’s inequality, which pointed to a way to experimentally resolve the conflict between Einstein and Bohr. Most physicists did not pay attention. Why bother with a foundational problem of quantum mechanics that would have no practical consequences? From their perspective, the theory worked. It had been well established in textbooks and taught at universities for decades. Although it was recognised that quantum entanglement was an elusive and hard-to-understand trait of quantum mechanics, few realised what it could be used for.
John Clauser was of a different opinion. When he heard about Bell’s inequality, he became obsessed with how to experimentally test it. He left his main research direction and, working with a younger colleague named Stuart Freedman, managed to perform the very first experimental test of Bell’s inequality. Their experimental effort fifty years ago, done on a shoestring budget, showed that quantum mechanics violated Bell’s inequality and that quantum mechanics correctly predicted the outcome of their experiment. Sadly, neither Bell nor Freedman is still with us today.
John Clauser’s experiment appeared convincing and suggested that Bohr was more correct than Einstein. But Bell realised that there were a few shortcomings in Clauser’s experiment, shortcomings that seemed almost impossible to overcome. It is now that Alain Aspect entered the scene. Together with colleagues in France, he managed to overcome these shortcomings and performed a series of experiments that were broadly recognised. These experiments were even highlighted in Swedish newspapers, though sometimes stretched well beyond their actual results.
The experimental test of Bell’s inequality now entered a new era, thanks to Anton Zeilinger and his collaborators. While Zeilinger and others continued to close some remaining loopholes in the Clauser and Aspect experiments, even more importantly, they demonstrated how the elusive concept of quantum entanglement can be useful. This was a giant leap from Zeilinger’s Austrian predecessor Schrödinger, and it is remarkable how the circle began in Austria and was closed in Austria. We have entered the second quantum revolution!
Professor Aspect, Dr Clauser and Professor Zeilinger, you have been awarded the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics “for experiments with entangled photons, establishing the violation of Bell inequalities and pioneering quantum information science”. It is an honour and a privilege to convey to you, on behalf of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, our warmest congratulations.
