ive decided to actually wait until the end of november to play nick kart racers 3 for the first time so i can enjoy it over my thanksgiving break without stress and worry of school or work
unfortunately that means i have to wait an entire extra month after its released, avoiding all content on it to experience everything for the first time myself
its going to be absolutely dreadful and i don't think ill survive the wait
whats worse is a preordered it before making this decision so now the icon for it will sit on my switch homescreen during the entire time im waiting
A year ago, GameMill Entertainment (publisher) and Bamtang Games (developer) released Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway as the third installment of the racing sub-series that started when the first game came out in 2018, featuring:
Over 40 drivers from various Nicktoons with voice-overs (excluding JoJo Siwa)
36 race tracks (including some returning from Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2: Grand Prix)
over 100 character cameos that make up your customizable pit crew
up to 4 players locally and 8 players online
Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway is available now!
I also played Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway... despite some potential bad news about Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2, I am on a Nick kick, and wanted some games to play, and it was on sale.
I don't know if I feel regret or not yet... Mechanics take getting used to, but they're solid. Some casual Kart racers don't copy Mario Kart enough, I find. Well this one feels like Mario Kart 8.
The problem is...
1. some of the character models have very bad looking animations and facial expressions, which is so weird because I'm pretty sure this was released after Nick All Star Brawl 1, which did a very good job with the character faces, and both are handled by Game Mill....
2. The voice clips are a little annoying. Often times they're quoting lines from the show, but they don't make sense in the context, and the line read is just not as good in the show, I am pretty sure Arnold says lines that were originally from other characters even.
and 3... FUCKING FRAME RATE... I don't typically fuss about frame rates, 30fps is perfectly fine with me. I play retro games, I think absurdly high framerates actually look weird and unnatural in video games... But this game is like... 20 FPS or something. It's like Ocarina of Time framerates... which is fine for a 1998 action adventure game, but in 2022... it really isn't acceptable for a high speed racing game. I can't even imagine this being the Switch's fault, this game isn't exactly pushing boundaries...
I like pretty much everything else about the game though. It's a lot of Nick Fan Service, the tracks are neat, it has mechanics that remind me of Sonic Riders and Snowboard Kids, some other favorite games of mine, it copies just enough of Mario Kart while having it's own ideas, and there's lots of courses and unlockables, if it just ran a little better....
This time it's with Jenny telling Brad about her taking Sheldon to senior prom and she's excited about it so she "pinches" (I put it in quotes because in that one episode, "This Time With Feeling", she had the disability to feel; but used nerve endings just so she could feel anything tickly or painful, even if she used them without Nora's permission) herself to think that she's dreaming, but it turns out that it is actually real (and no, she isn't in her dream chip mode, either, so shushhhh)
And this is another robotic nerve ending that Jenny has been keeping a secret since the events of "This Time With Feeling" (season 1 episode 11b of mlaatr) when she was unable to feel things and only had the ability to feel tickle and pain (besides her right armpit ofc). Since that wasn't seen in the episode I just wanted to add it in for the fun!
Even if she doesn't have that tickle/pain switch on her back anymore she'd still feel pain if there was something that hit or got onto her metallic skin (like in that episode "Saved by the Shell" - episode 12a of season 1 - when she felt acid on her hand. Hey at least that there was some continuity after the previous episode which was cool! I know most of the episodes are out of order but you could piece the continuity of the plots somehow like the foreshadowing of cluster prime for example which had its own tv movie which is still one of my favorite mlaatr specials) or anything ticklish (I don't recall her being tickled in episodes after TTWF but she felt more pain than senses of being tickled. But she does say it in video games that have her as a playable character so I guess you could say that she does feel tickle, still - even if she got hit by Hugh Neutron throwing a pie at her in all star brawl or a ren and stimpy log being thrown in front of her kart in slime speedway which explodes); so she could feel pain or anything ticklish on her body even if her mom had busted her for using those robotic ending nerves without her permission. Now that's something that I'd love to see if there were ever a fourth season. Jenny feeling even more tickle and pain without the nerve endings, even if she still does feel pain without them (but not tickle mode).
Played some Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 for the first time in a while !
I never got around to unlocking the last character, Helga--a shame, because we love her. You have to win a number of online matches, which is inconvenient because there’s no guarantee you can even make progress on that at any given time, like if no one else is even playing
I did sink halfway into the track at one point; that’s some quality work there
I did it! I'm the first PS4/5 player in gaming history to gain every trophy in Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway on PS4, courtesy of Leonardo's (voiced by Cam Clarke) and my gaming efforts! And now would be be good time for some pizza after grinding for almost two weeks since the game officially came out.
