This home built in 2007 in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin looks like a normal house, not very large from the street. It has 3bd, 5ba, like a regular house, and it's $1,999,900. But, when I saw inside, I couldn't believe that it was less than $2M. What a surprising house.
Tumblr media
Look at how huge it is inside, but that's not why I was surprised that it was under $2M.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wonder if they had this home built with all those big display niches for pottery.
Tumblr media
The dining room is right in front of the kitchen counter.
Tumblr media
This is why I can't get over that it's less than $2M. Look at this. It's a basketball court, but it look like it's set up for volleyball, right now.
Tumblr media
Is this not insane? Look like skyboxes, an announcer's box, and a restaurant up there.
Tumblr media
But, that's not all. Look at the pool hall lounge. The only thing that gives away that it's a house is the kitchenette in the corner.
Tumblr media
This is a man cave if ever there was one.
Tumblr media
Look at this- it's like a restaurant.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a stove and microwave behind the bar, too.
Tumblr media
There's even a locker room.
Tumblr media
Home gym.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, a theater next to the court.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back in the house there's the primary bedroom and en-suite. Phone next to the toilet could be a landline or an intercom.
Tumblr media
I wonder where this elevator goes- somewhere down to the sports area, I would imagine.
Tumblr media
The bedrooms aren't very large.
Tumblr media
Hot tub on the deck.
Tumblr media
Looks like they conduct business in this office.
Tumblr media
There's a yard, which they probably don't use, b/c all the fun stuff is in the house.
Tumblr media
And, there seems to be ample parking.
Tumblr media
And, here's a helpful blowup of the home. So, clearly the sports complex is downstairs.

Which Under Counter Chiller Is Right For You?
An Under Counter Chiller is an excellent option for commercial kitchens. Compared to reach-in refrigerators, they offer greater flexibility. Undercounter units can come with a glass or solid-door configuration. While glass-door chilled beverage units are typically found in bars and banquet kitchens, undercounter freezers can also be configured to pass through. They can be built into a counter or have a drawer system that makes them ideal for restaurants with a variety of menu items. The drawer system unit can also be fitted with a date or time divider.
There are many models available today. Many of them offer dual-nature features, making them convenient and energy-efficient. Choose one that is energy-efficient, convenient, and attractive. A dual-nature fridge can also double as an upright display freezer. Ultimately, you'll want to purchase a quality under-counter refrigerator with great storage capacity  Under Counter Chiller Manufacturer and low electricity consumption. A beautiful refrigerator with sleek lines is a plus. With a variety of colors to choose from, you'll be able to design a beautiful, functional refrigerator to fit your space.
The design of an Under Counter Chiller will complement other kitchen appliances. Some come with drawers that swing outward so you can access the interior without opening the freezer's door. A number of these freezers have removable shelves that make it easy to organize frozen food. Some have baskets under each shelf. Regardless of how you choose to use your Under Counter Chiller, you'll appreciate its flexibility. So, which of these two options is right for you?
In addition to food and beverage businesses, undercounter chillers are also useful in commercial settings. Sports arenas, premium skyboxes, and hotel minibars are just a few examples of commercial applications. The added space, comfort, and revenue that an Under Counter Chiller brings to a venue make it an excellent addition. Hundreds of models are available today, including those designed for commercial kitchens. In general, undercounter refrigerators are divided into three basic categories: countertop refrigerators, premium skyboxes, and under-counter freezers.
Under Counter Chillers have dual purposes: as a refrigerator and a freezer. Most commercial kitchens use their top surface as a work surface, which would mean that an Under Counter Chiller unit that is placed under the counter would be hidden. If you have a busy kitchen, a counter freezer would take up valuable countertop space. A counter freezer does the same functions but in a compact package. It can save space and still allow you to use the top surface for other tasks.
Under Counter Refrigerators: A countertop undercounter refrigerator or freezer can be built with a low-profile design to fit underneath the counter. Low-profile models are much smaller, with a shorter interior compartment and fewer legs. Low-profile units come with one or two doors. They may also have a drawer for storage instead of doors. A range of depths is available, with extra-deep models for deep countertop applications. ADA-compliant models are available in 34-inch heights.

Operation: Plague Star
Tumblr media
(Operation: Plague Star event splash)
15 November 2017 – 27 November 2017
A mysterious meteorite has crashed just outside of Cetus, revealing a horrific boil. The boil is growing and the Ostrons have sighted Infested lifeforms emerging from it. We need to act now before they make their way to Cetus.
Konzu has received reports that Vay Hek possesses a toxin that can destroy the boil. But Vay Hek won't help; he sees this infested boil as a means to rid the Plains of Cetus and the Ostrons.
We need to get ahold of the toxin and destroy the boil before it becomes unstoppable. Visit Konzu in Cetus to learn his plan for retrieving the toxin from Vay Hek.
Foreshadowing
On 27 October 2017 (Friday), players received the following transmission when they logged in:
Lotus: "Tenno, a meteoroid is on an impact trajectory with Earth. Ordis' calculations have it making planetfall just beyond Cetus. More troubling still, it appears to be alive. Stay vigilant. I will update you as I learn more."
In Cetus and the Plains of Eidolon, small meteor fragments were visible burning up in the atmosphere, appearing to travel north across the sky. Around 02 or 03 November, a large meteor could be seen in the sky, glowing with orange energy. This meteor was clearly heading towards Earth, but remained stationary in the skybox.
On 03 November 2017 (Friday), at 15h00 EST (19h00 UTC), DevStream 100 (which was ongoing) was interrupted by a cinematic of a massive meteor approaching Earth, punching through the atmosphere, and impacting on the Plains. After the cinematic, players received the following transmission when they logged in:
Lotus: "The meteroid has crashed down outside Cetus! Konzu reports that it is indeed some kind of infested boil. At the moment it poses no direct threat, but I need you to be ready to act at moment's notice."
After the cinematic, the crashed meteor was visible on the Plains of Eidolon as a large, infested mass in a small impact crater in the middle of the Plains. Approaching the boil would inflict massive toxin damage.
On 06 November 2017 (Monday), Konzu in Cetus had a new dialogue prompt.
Player: "Infestation?"
Konzu: "Infestation. My uncle, Hinmun, sold minerals aboard a market near Eris. Quite popular with deep-system traders. At least it was. They were broadsided by one of these boils. It spread fast. They could have run, risked taking it with them. Instead, they turned off life support and blew out escape pods. Decades later, it still orbits Eris. Writhing. One voice repeating the same message over and over: 'We are death. Leave us, and do not look back.' My uncle's voice. Fail here, Tenno, and that will be the fate of Cetus: to be a warning for the living, from a place where none may tread."
After this time, Konzu had a few lines he would speak if the Tenno was idling near him:
Konzu (variant): "When the sun is low, scouts report seeing things – shadows – moving inside the boil. Stay close, Tenno. Stay close."
Konzu (variant): "First the stars went wrong… and now the air. Can you smell it? Master Teasonai… his animals… they smell it too. Sweet, like a wound gone bad. These days, none of us sleep easy."
Operation
On 15 November 2017 (Wednesday), the event went live with the release of Update 22.3.0 and was set to run for 12 days, until 27 November 2017. Upon logging in, players received the following transmission:
Lotus: "Tenno, Konzu needs your help! The Ostrons have sighted Infested lifeforms emerging from the boil. We need to deal with this thing immediately. Report to Konzu in Cetus."
The operation tab in the World State Window said: "Steal Vay Hek's Thrax Toxin, mix it, and poison the Infested Boil growing in the centre of the Plains."
A new bounty was added to Konzu's bounty board in Cetus, labelled "Plague Star". Running this bounty was the main way to participate in the event, and would reward Standing in the Operational Supply syndicate. During the operation, Konzu's usual bounties were still offered.
In the Infested Lab of player dojos, a new research project was available: the Infested Catalyst, described as "This refined toxin catalyst has been formulated to reinforce the Thrax Toxin and maximise damage to the Infested boil." The Infested Catalyst was a consumable used in the event, but it took 24 hours to research, so it was not utilised for the first day.
Nakak, the masks and oddities vendor in Cetus, had a new dialogue option, allowing the player to interface with the Operational Standing syndicate. This new syndicate was the main avenue of redeeming rewards from the event, and Standing with the syndicate was earned by completing the bounty. The Operational Supply rewards included event cosmetics, weapon blueprints, mods, Plains resources, Infested Zaw part blueprints, and Infested Exodia blueprints, but also included the blueprint for an item called Eidolon Phylaxis, with the description: "Sentient immunity to the Infestation is exploited with this refined phylaxis. Formulated specifically to combat Infested boils." The Eidolon Phylaxis was a consumable used in the event, but was only redeemable at the Collaborator tier, so it was not utilised for the first few runs (as no player had any Standing or rank in the Operational Supply syndicate at first).
Konzu had new lines when interacting with him for the duration of the event.
Konzu (initiating conversation, variant): "Dark times, killer. In times past we've lost entire markets – entire clades – to the Infestation. That cannot happen here. Cetus must survive."
Konzu (initiating conversation, variant): "Vay Hek! He has toxin enough to destroy the boil, but no! He wants it to flourish. To see the Infested succeed where he has failed: to see them destroy Cetus."
The Plague Star bounty was called "Plague Star", and was set at level 15-25. This bounty was not randomly generated like other Cetus bounties, but had the same four stages every time it was run (although the locations for the first three stages were random). During the bounty, Konzu and Lotus would give directions, while Vay Hek would berate the Tenno.
Konzu (beginning bounty): "The Infestation… I was beginning to think it would never touch us here. That it was a thing that happened 'out there'. To others. [sigh] Naïve. I need you to take Vay Hek's toxin and kill the boil."
Konzu (entering Plains): "First Vay Hek thinks, 'I will let this plague run wild over Cetus.' Then he thinks, 'I will use poison to exterminate the Infestation once its work is done.' The Quills see doom in his plan, for Grineer and Ostron alike. The boil needs to be destroyed now, before it becomes unstoppable. We know Vay Hek has Thrax Toxin stored deep underground. We'll use that. One ill to cure another, eh?"
The first stage of the bounty involved entering a cave (chosen at random) to retrieve a toxin canister from a Grineer machine.
Vay Hek (entering caves, variant): "Of course, MAGGOTS seek to BURROW! Away from my caves, MAGGOTS! Lest you be CRUSHED!"
Vay Hek (entering caves, variant): "The Thrax Toxin! The Tenno MAGGOTS want my TOXIN! Stop them!"
The toxin canister would be located a ways inside the cave, past the Grineer doors that usually bar progress, and would be guarded by Grineer troops. Interacting with the machine would dispense the canister, which could then be picked up, restricting the carrying player to sidearms or melee.
Konzu (upon acquiring the toxin): "Vay Hek. A two-bit despot with a mind half an inch wide and a face like a rejected skin graft. Konzu would like you to make his life miserable. Well— more miserable."
Lotus: "Toxin secured. Be prepared. Vay Hek knows what we're up to now."
The second stage involved bringing the toxin to a chemical mixer, located inside an armoured vault, and guarding the mixer from both Grineer and Infested while it refined the Thrax toxin – a process lasting 3 minutes. This stage was very similar to the "Resource Theft" stage found in traditional Cetus bounties.
Lotus: "I am directing you to the location of a Grineer chemical mixer. Use it to prepare the toxin."
Lotus (upon arriving at waypoint): "The mixer is inside that vault. Clear out the area so we can use it."
Konzu (upon inserting toxin): "Keep them away, killer. That machine must finish its work."
Konzu (if a player has Eidolon Phylaxes in their inventory): "The Quills speak of Sentient immunity to the Infestation. If you have a vial of Eidolon Phylaxis, consider adding it to the mix now."
Lotus (if a player has Infested Catalysts in their inventory): "I see your clan created the Infested Catalyst. This is your chance; add it to the mixture now."
Vay Hek (if the toxin mixer is destroyed and the bounty fails): "Keep trying to cleanse these Plains; you'll only die in a SHOWER of FECULENT DEFEAT!"
Vay Hek (when the timer is at 2:10, variant): "Grineer! Soon the Ostron rats of Cetus will flee in panic. And when they do, we'll hunt them for sport!"
Vay Hek (when the timer is at 2:10, variant): "This boil will cleanse Cetus of the filthy Ostron rats that infest her walls!"
Lotus (when the timer is at 1:25): "The Grineer will do anything to destroy the mixer. Stop them."
Lotus (when the timer is at 0:45): "The mixer needs more time. Keep the Grineer at bay."
Konzu (upon picking up the refined toxin, variant): "Ai yo, my eyebrows are singeing just looking at that stuff. Go shove it into the boil."
Konzu (upon picking up the refined toxin, variant): "It's ready. Now make that boil hurt. Doh-ga!"
The third stage involved bringing the toxin to an inert Grineer drone. Bringing the toxin near the drone would activate the drone and remove the toxin from the player, and the drone would move towards the boil (although the HUD objective directed the player to hack the drone, no hacking was actually required – the drone activated automatically). While the spawn location of the drone was random, its destination was always the same fixed location: the southern side of the Infested boil.
Lotus: "A Grineer drone will serve as an optimal delivery system. I've marked one on your map."
Lotus (upon arriving at waypoint): "Drone located. Hack in, and insert the Thrax Toxin. I'll steer it toward the boil."
Once the drone arrived at the delivery site, it ascended into the air as a Grineer squad was dropped in from orbit.
Lotus (upon delivering the drone): "The toxin has triggered peristalsis. Antibody production has escalated. Prepare for a massive immune response."
The fourth and last stage involved killing Infested as they emerged from Infested spawn pods shot out from the boil. These spawn pods also created clouds of green gas that dealt heavy toxin damage. A meter on the HUD tracked the required number of Infested kills from 0% to 100%, at which point the bounty was complete. Use of Eidolon Phylaxes during the toxin mixing stage would increase the level of Infested enemies spawned during this stage, to a maximum of 30.
Vay Hek (variant): "Tenno maggots! You try to protect these rats, but you will fail and fail!"
Vay Hek (variant): "Fools! You tried to POP its GLISTENING MAGNIFICENCE, but you just made it angry!"
If the player used Infested Catalysts during the toxin mixing stage, then a Hemocyte would appear at regular intervals, with the number of Hemocyte appearances equal to the number of Infested Catalysts added (for a maximum of 4 per bounty). The Infested extermination meter would not progress until the Hemocyte died, no matter how many Infested were killed; thus, killing the Hemocyte was necessary to complete the bounty. Each Hemocyte was a higher level than the preceding appearance, and was also affected by the Eidolon Phylaxis, such that the final appearance could spawn at level 48. Upon death, the Hemocyte would drop a Hemocyte Cystolith and a Hunter set mod.
Lotus (upon Hemocyte spawning, variant): "A Hemocyte: the product of the boil attempting to fight off the toxin. Kill it to weaken the Infestation further."
Lotus (upon Hemocyte spawning, variant): "The boil's immune system has manufactured a Hemocyte to deal with the toxin threat. Destroy it."
Konzu (upon Hemocyte spawning, variant replacing Lotus' line): "Well, you got a reaction. Big as a house and half as smart. Knock it on the head, eh?"
Konzu (upon success, variant): "You are not welcome on Konzu's Plains, snot-thing. Nice work, Number One Gun. We're breathing easier back here."
Konzu (upon success, variant): "Top-shelf work, surah. But it was not enough. Not yet. Hit it again, and keep hitting it til there's nothing but a hole in the ground."
Konzu (upon success if a Hemocyte spawned, variant replacing previous line): "That, uh… that was some allergic reaction you kicked off. Quite a sight, Tenno. Well done."
Konzu (variant): "I've put Nakak in charge of supply distribution, until this strangeness is at an end. See what she has for you. We're all in this one together, Tenno."
Konzu (variant): "During these dark nights Cetus is grateful for your help. Nakak will keep you supplied until we beat this. Go see her."
Vay Hek (variant): "No. NO. NOOOOO!!!"
Vay Hek (variant): "You have NOT WON, MAGGOTS! YOU HAVE NOT WON!!!"
Aftermath
After the event concluded on 27 November 2017, players would receive a transmission from Konzu upon logging in:
Konzu: "You know, Konzu doesn't get emotional. But this place? Cetus is more than our home, Tenno. It is the centre of our universe. My uncle, he died protecting his. And you, you fought to protect ours. My uncle's voice still echoes a warning. But this place? our voice? will echo forever. As a welcome. A beacon to anyone who needs a home. Okay, a little emotional, maybe. The Unum chose well when she sent you to us. Dah-dup! Now, get back to work."
Recurrence
On Thursday, 05 April 2018 (4 months and 9 days after the initial event ended), Operation: Plague Star returned with Hotfix 22.17.1 and was slated to run until 17 April 2018. The operation was identical to its previous iteration, including in mechanics and rewards, with two exceptions: the Hemocyte encounter was buffed significantly in level, such that the final appearance could be level 84; and the Lotus' initial transmission upon the player logging in was different:
Lotus: "I have received word from Konzu. The Infested boil that once threatened the Plains of Eidolon? It has grown back, uglier and more putrid than ever. Remain on standby; I may need you at a moment's notice."

Antonio Brown Selling Suburban Pennsylvania Mansion for $2.3M
Michael Reaves/Getty Images
Antonio Brown has listed his suburban Pennsylvania home for $2.3 million.
The Pittsburgh Steelers‘ former wide receiver was traded to the Oakland Raiders earlier this year. And he also moved on from his mansion in Gibsonia, PA, an upscale area about 30 minutes north of Heinz Field.
The wideout bought the newly built home in 2014 for $1.91 million. The 8,797-square-foot home sits on 3 acres and has five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. Brown added a sport court, artificial turf field, and two-story treehouse.
“It has everything,” says listing agent Shane Smith with Coldwell Banker, in partnership with makethenextmove.com. “It’s an incredible house. It’s only 5 years old, and it’s a high-end build.”

The main house features a grand living room with fireplace and coffered ceiling, a chef’s kitchen, a family room with stone fireplace, a formal dining room with tray ceiling, and an office with built-ins. In addition, the master suite boasts a private balcony, sitting area, and fireplace.
The finished basement offers a home theater, gym, sauna, steam shower, and full bath.
As for the amazing treehouse, the listing photos don’t do justice to the space, which was featured on Season 11 of Animal Planet’s “Treehouse Masters.” (But you can see more photos here.)
The treehouse is more of a guest apartment, complete with a sleeping loft, living area with flat-screen TVs and bar, and bathroom with steam shower. The treehouse is reached via spiral staircase, and a metal ladder takes you to the sleeping loft. A wall of glass overlooks the field, skybox-style, to catch any action happening below.
While the home is now in photogenic shape, it was in sad shape this past spring. Brown’s neighbor tweeted at him to mow his overgrown lawn, and the back-and forth caught the attention of Trib Live.
We have a lot of yards to cut right now ! Can you be a Good Samaritan and do me a solid cut my grass that’s my other property up for sell in PA ! Wow is it really good people in the world like this ! Send me cash app #BusinessBoomin #MoTheLawn https://t.co/5NfEsOJmyQ
— AB (@AB84) May 23, 2019
A few days later, a couple of enterprising landscapers stepped in, tweeting photos of the mowed lawn. (We hope the wealthy wide receiver paid the men!)
Hey AB, @Tyler_Saint21 and I got the grass cut for you! pic.twitter.com/vA7casXum9

The grounds have since been professionally maintained, Smith notes, and the property is “immaculate.”
Brown, 31, starred for the Steelers from 2010 through 2018. In 2019, he was traded to the Oakland Raiders after burning a couple of bridges in Pittsburgh. After a bizarre training camp with the Raiders, he was cut before the season began over disagreements with management.
The day he was dropped from the Raiders, Brown signed with the New England Patriots. However, he played only one game with the team before being cut over charges of sexual misconduct. He’s currently a free agent.

The ultimate guide to Guaranteed Rate Field
Though its neighbor—and bitter rival—to the north might grab more national attention and tourist dollars, Chicago’s South Side ballpark is a fun and relatively affordable place to watch Major League Baseball. Wrigley Field is known as the friendly confines, but Sox Park can be equally welcoming and family-oriented despite the neighborhood’s rougher-around-the-edges, blue-collar reputation.
The White Sox fanbase is a diverse, enthusiastic, and unpretentious bunch that takes a relaxed but no-nonsense approach to the game. When the White Sox have a terrible year (and they’ve had more than a few), the franchise has never been able to hide behind a “lovable losers” persona and still enjoy sell-out crowds like the Cubs.
The White Sox’s 2005 World Series win may still be fresh in the minds of loyal fans but for other Chicagoans—and sports network ESPN—the team’s most recent triumph is often forgotten. The situation can be seen as a microcosm of how the media covers—or rather doesn’t cover—the South Side.
This year’s team is young and looks poised for another rebuilding season, but there are still compelling arguments to head to the ballpark to enjoy a game in 2019.
Whether you’re visiting because you’re a diehard Sox fan, there to see a visiting team play, or just put off by Wrigley Field’s pricey tickets, here’s everything you need to know about the home of the Chicago White Sox—starting with what to call the place.
Like the classic 1910 ballpark it replaced in 1991, the current stadium was originally named Comiskey Park after White Sox founder Charles Comiskey. In 2003, U.S. Cellular purchased the naming rights and rebranded the facility as U.S. Cellular Field. Though the change angered traditionalists, most fans shrugged it off. Some even embraced “The Cell” as a nickname.
Just when the sting losing Comiskey was starting to wear off, the venue officially changed its name once again after retail mortgage lender Guaranteed Rate penned a 13-year deal to call the stadium Guaranteed Rate Field in 2016. Once more, outrage ensued. The Chicago Sun-Times even published an article titled “There can’t be a worse name than Guaranteed Rate Field. Can’t be.” The agreement also came with universally unloved corporate signage sporting a big, red downward facing arrow.
With the Sears Tower becoming Willis and the John Hancock Center dropping its famous moniker, Chicagoans tend to be a stubborn bunch when it comes to clinging to old names. Sure, some folks are calling the park “G Rate,” but for an older generation it simply never stopped being Comiskey. For others, the all-encompassing term “Sox Park” can apply to all of the above and rolls off the tongue with greater ease.
Bottom line, there’s nothing wrong with using the stadium’s correct Guaranteed Rate Field name. At the same time, no one’s going to look down you for choosing to keep it old school.
Tumblr media
The exterior of the ballpark is an example of restrained postmodernism.
Getty Images
From an architectural standpoint, Guaranteed Rate Field was conceived during an awkward time in sports stadium design. Built in 1991, the postmodern structure lacked not only an emotional connection to the outdated stadium it replaced but also the quirks and charms found in the newer wave of “retro classic” ballparks like Baltimore’s trend-setting Camden Yards.
Ten years later, White Sox ownership eventually undertook a major multi-phase renovation project to address one of the ballpark’s least loved features: its terrifyingly too-high upper-deck. In all, 6,600 seats were removed during the process. The remaining bright blue seats were swapped out for more traditional forest green colored replacements.
Tumblr media
Fans initially found the stadium’s upper deck—seen in this 1995 photo—to be too tall and steep. Management eventually redesigned this section to be less scary.
Getty Images
A darker color scheme spread to other parts of the stadium which played to the Sox’s “Good guys wear black” marketing mantra. Other steps to bring more character and personality to the ballpark including realigning the outfield fencing to be less symmetrical and, hopefully, spice up the gameplay.
On its surface, Guaranteed Rate Field is a perfectly fine professional baseball venue but it will always face unfavorable comparisons to the former Comiskey Park and, of course, Wrigley Field. Both older stadiums were even designed by the same architect, Zachary Taylor Davis.
It’s been said that a bad day at the ballpark still beats a good day at the office. But if you can’t skip out of work for the midday home opener against the Seattle Mariners on April 4, there are lots of other great games worthy of your hard-earned dollars.
Specialty nights
The ballpark’s specialty games include heritage nights (Polish, Italian, Greek, and Hispanic!) as well as Elvis, the Beatles, Star Wars, and country music themes. Even the most serious fans can’t help but embrace the fun of “Mullet Night.” These themed events are typically accompanied by post-game fireworks.
Dog Day
Guaranteed Rate also offers a quick-to-sell-out annual Dog Day during which the outfield sections get overrun by furry four-legged Sox fans and their human companions. In 2016, the stadium’s “Bark at the Park” set a new Guinness World Record for the most canines at a live sporting event.
Family Sundays
The 2019 home season will feature 12 “Family Sundays” with tickets as low as $5 in the upper level and $15 in the lower level. These games include kid-focused activities throughout the concourse level and the opportunity for little ones to run the bases afterward.
Crosstown Classic
Save for another run at the World Series, arguably the most important White Sox games of the year take place during the crosstown rivalry against the dreaded Chicago Cubs. With bragging (gloating?) rights on the line, there’s perhaps no other series each Chicago fanbase would most like to see their respective team win.
This year, the series features two games at each stadium. The bitter rivals will square off at Wrigley Field on June 18 and 19 before heading south to Guaranteed Rate Field on July 6 and 7.

CTA
When it comes to getting to and from the home of the Chicago White Sox, fans have multiple options with the easiest—and most affordable—being public transit. CTA riders have two options: the Green Line stop at 35th Street-Illinois Institute of Technology and the Red Line’s easy to remember Sox-35th Street stop. For Metra riders, the Rock Island Line utilizes the nearby ‘35th Street / ‘Lou’ Jones’ station. All are within a five-minute walk of the park.
Parking
If you must drive, Guaranteed Rate is still relatively convenient due to its proximity to the Dan Ryan Expressway and over 7,000 nearby parking spaces. The sea of asphalt surrounding the ballpark lends itself well to pre-game tailgating—something that Wrigley Field will never have.
Many ticket packages include prepaid vouchers that correspond to specific lots. Fans can also pay on game day to park in lots F, L, or G for $20 Monday through Saturday and $10 for Sunday games. Official White Sox parking lots accept both cash and credit cards.
The White Sox affiliated lots open approximately two hours before each game, unless noted otherwise, and close 30 minutes after games conclude. Post-game tailgating is strictly forbidden. Additional info on lot locations, parking coupons, and priority accommodations for guests who are physically disabled can be found here.
Uber and Lyft
Patrons of Guaranteed Rate Field can also make use of the various ride-hailing companies. Uber is the “preferred rideshare partner” of the White Sox and has a dedicated pickup zone in Lot A marked by flags. First time Uber users (if such people still exist in 2019?) can get $15 off their ride with the promo code ChiWhiteSox. Taxis queue on 35th Street between Gates 4 and 6.
Biking
Bicycle racks are located between Gates 2 and 3 and along 35th Street by Gate 5. Users of Chicago’s Divvy bike share networks will find the closest station at the southwest corner of Wentworth Avenue and 35th Street. Other nearby Divvy docks include Armour Square Park and various locations around the Illinois Institute of Technology campus.

White Sox
Since Guaranteed Rate was designed with minimal overhangs and obstructions, there’s really no such thing as a bad seat. The mostly open-sky nature of the ballpark, however, should be a consideration when rain is threatening—so prepare accordingly. With only the back 10 rows of the lower level covered, most seats are exposed to the elements. Smaller umbrellas are allowed but the larger golf-style are prohibited.

100s
The lower 100 level of the park features both individual and bleacher seats and the most extensive selection when it comes to food, drinks, and souvenirs. The 100 level includes the Bullpen Porch in right field, the turf-side Craft Kave (spelled with a backward K), and center field’s CBIC Fan Deck which can be reserved for large group events. History buffs can check out a shower from old Comiskey located near Section 161. The functional fixture is also a great way to cool off on a hot day.

300s
Moving higher in the stadium is the 300 level. This area includes the ballpark’s posh private skyboxes as well as a band of premium outdoor seats served by attentive wait staff. Tickets here are obviously more expensive but come with perks such as access to indoor lounge seating, specialty concessions, and the Skyline Sports Bar.
500s
The ballpark’s upper deck might be the best value in baseball, but a 500 level ticket can carry restrictions that limit access to the lower concourses and concessions. If you are hoping to explore everything Guaranteed Rate has to offer, a 500 level ticket may not be the way to go. Ticket checking can be an inconsistent affair, so sneaking lower is possible but certainly not guaranteed.
Guaranteed Rate Field has elevated its food options in recent years with diverse selection including Polish pierogis, Cuban sandwiches, Irish nachos (tater tots instead of chips), tamales, Italian beef, and deep-dish pizza.
New for this year is a partnership with Chicago-based Antique Taco, which has taken over the two taco stands on the stadium’s main concourse. Vegans also have an additional option as well thanks to the Impossible Burger, available on the club level.
There are also old standbys like the Comiskey Dog, a Vienna Beef frank served on a soft poppy seed bun. Order it with “the works”— toppings of yellow mustard, chopped onions, sweet pickle relish, a dill spear, tomatoes, sport peppers, and a dash of celery salt. Add ketchup at your own peril.
Another fan favorite is elotes—or corn off the cob topped with salt, butter, cayenne pepper, cheese, mayo, and lime. The savory Mexican treat features corn freshly shucked off the cob, never from a can.
A number of ballparks across the country serve ice cream or nachos in miniaturized plastic baseball helmets, but G-Rate ups the ante by offering both in full, adult-sized hard hats. Featuring no less than 12 scoops of the cold stuff, the park’s three-pound sundae (estimated to contain up to 5,000 calories) is best shared with friends. Or not. This is Chicago after all. No one will judge.
When it comes to adult beverages, the park continues to up its craft beer game. There’s a new focus on local breweries at the Revolution-branded bar in left field and a rebranded Goose Island seating section and beer garden in right field. Keep in mind that these high-brow brews tend to command premium prices say over a Bud or Miller Lite. Beer sales stop after the last out of the 7th inning.
For the first time, Sox Park will offer boozy warm drinks, including apple cider is spiked with Fireball and hot chocolates with Jim Beam whisky and Patrón tequila. Both come served in a souvenir mug and are available on both the 100 and 500 level concourses, says Eater.
Guaranteed Rate’s swankiest culinary option is the fine-dining Stadium Club managed by Levy Restaurants. Access here, however, is reserved for members holding season tickets plus an additional $1000 per year. Unless you’re a high-roller or a guest of a member, chances are you’re not getting in the glass-walled restaurant overlooking right field.
So how are the White Sox looking? Well, considering that the team lost 18 of its final 24 games to finish the 2018 season with a .383 record, the ballclub isn’t necessarily expected to set the baseball world on fire.
That being said, the 2019 White Sox have a handful of experienced players and plenty of young talent that could hold the key to turning another rebuilding season into a winner one. Here are some players—and other personalities—to know.
Top prospect Eloy Jiménez will make his highly anticipated major league debut with the Sox, starting at left field on opening day. The 22-year-old Dominican-born player signed a six-year, $43 million contract in March and expectations couldn’t be higher. Is Jiménez a superstar in the making? South Siders are hoping the answer is yes.
Another player to watch is 26-year-old shortstop Tim Anderson. In 2017 the team offered Anderson a six-year contract worth $25 million, a White Sox record for a player with less than one full year with the club. This season should provide Anderson with an opportunity to cement his position as a team leader—and also improve upon last season’s slump.
With such a youthful lineup, the team will lean heavily on the experience of 32-year-old first baseman Jose Abreu, who is on the last year of his contract. The popular Cuban-born player has five seasons with the White Sox under his belt, but some speculate that this year might be his last.
There are some important off-field names to know too. Some locals will recognize a familiar voice over Guaranteed Rate’s public address system. It belongs to announcer Gene Honda who lends his vocal service to both the Chicago Blackhawks and DePaul University basketball.
Southpaw, the White Sox’s green, fur-covered mascot made his Major League debut in 2004. The name references not only a baseball term for a left-handed pitcher but the team’s home on the South Side of Chicago. While some fans have theorized that Southpaw is modeled on a reptile or a dirty sock, he’s “just a big fuzzy green dude,” according to an interview.
Every Chicagoan is—or at least should be—familiar with the name Jerry Reinsdorf. Team owner of not only the White Sox since 1981 but also the six championship-winning Chicago Bulls, Reinsdorf is one of the most influential figures in Chicago sports.
The outspoken owner has always done his part to stoke the cross-town rivalry. “The North Siders always tended to look down on South Siders,” Reinsdorf told Newsweek in 1990. “Part of being a White Sox fan is you hate the Cubs.”
Though we associate the stadium-wide singing of Take Me Out the Ballgame with the Cubs during the 7th inning stretch, the tradition actually originated at old Comiskey.
It all started in 1976 when White Sox owner Bill Veeck noticed broadcaster Harry Caray humming along whenever the organ played the tune. Veeck convinced the reluctant announcer to grab his microphone and sing along.
With that, the song went from background music to a show-stopping event. Caray left for the Cubs in 1982 and his 7th inning act soon became part of Cubs folklore as well.
Like their neighbors to the north with Go Cubs Go, the White Sox have a song that is uniquely their own. Titled Let’s Go, Go-Go White Sox the tune debuted in 1959 and is a college-style fight song in a similar vein to Bear Down. The song is played after big run-scoring plays. The words are usually up on the video board, so sing along!
For years AC/DC’s Thunderstruck has been tasked with pumping up the fans before the home team takes the field. The song was briefly removed from the pregame playlist in 2015 only to quickly return after a tweet-storm from angry fans. The classic rock tune is accompanied by firework blasts from the stadium’s trademark exploding scoreboard.

How a PGA Tour Event in the Desert Became The Wildest Party In American Sports
On Feb. 6, 2016, Ryan Palmer lined up his putt on the 10th hole at TPC Scottsdale, the annual venue of Arizona’s Phoenix Open. He pulled back his club, ready to caress the ball into the hole, when a nearby spectator cried out “miss it!” just as Palmer was mid-stroke. The player stopped, composed himself, and once again readied his stroke. Again, the heckling voice shouted out, “miss it!”
After a third call came out, James Edmonson, Palmer’s caddy of 18 years, jumped into action. “I walked all the way around the green and went right up to the rope [separating the crowd from the course]. I pointed at him and I was like, ‘Hey, come here!’” Edmonson says, describing the heckler as a “frat punk” wearing a “stupid little tie.”
“I was going to pull his tie and pull him over the rope,” he recalls. “‘Cause once you get inside the ropes, you know, it’s fair game.” The fan backed down — “like a keyboard warrior on social media” — but when the next group of players arrived on the green, his antics resumed. Security staff soon decided enough was enough and kicked him out. “I’ve never seen anything like it before,” Edmonson says.
Professional caddies’ typical duties include carrying golf bags, calculating shot lengths, and determining which club their player should use to make a shot. Altercations with “frat boys” is not, as the old adage goes, par for the course. But the Phoenix Open is an event like no other on the PGA Tour.
Officially billed as the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the tournament is better known among golf fans as the “Greatest Show on Grass.” The event eschews the sport’s rigid etiquette, with raucous crowds, a festival-like atmosphere, and extra-curricular activities that extend well into the night. Its annual attendance figures closer resemble music festivals than sporting events.
The tournament is notorious for its spectators’ epic alcohol consumption. In a bid to curb overindulgence and crackdown on DUIs, the Scottsdale Police Department introduced free breathalyzer tests as part of a “Know Your Limit” campaign in 2012. Meanwhile, the event’s costly corporate boxes, which are sold with “open” bars, set a 10-drink limit per person a few years back. Even with that in place, multiple sources told VinePair that bartenders are happy to ignore the limit when tipped generously.
“The way I try to explain the Phoenix Open to people that have never gone is, ‘Imagine a humongous bar or outdoor party, and in the middle of it, there’s a golf tournament going on,’” Edmonson says. “I mean, 90 percent of the people attending don’t really care about the golf.”
His estimate, though unscientific, is telling. The seven-day event takes place during Super Bowl week and concludes the first Sunday of February. The competition itself spans Thursday through Super Bowl Sunday; but practice rounds on Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday’s celebrity Pro-Am, which has previously featured the likes of Mark Walhberg, Michael Phelps, and Aaron Rogers, draw crowds of up to 70,000.
In terms of attendance, there’s only one winner between the Super Bowl and the Phoenix Open. The highest-attended Super Bowl in history barely breached 100,000 spectators. In 2018, more than 200,000 fans turned out at the Phoenix Open on Saturday alone. Over the seven-day period, close to 720,000 people crossed its gates.
The Phoenix Open’s attendances don’t just trounce almost every event on America’s sporting calendar, they make Burning Man, which receives some 70,000 visitors annually, seem like a county fair by comparison. Only Coachella, the celebrity-stacked music festival that takes place over six days on two separate weekends, boasts similar numbers.
The jewel in the tournament’s crown is the legendary par-3 16th hole, hailed as the “most electrifying” in all of golf. It holds a singular place within the sport, owing to the 20,000-capacity grandstand that completely surrounds the hole. On competition days, thousands of spectators queue from as early as midnight the night before gates open to try to claim a spot in the stands.

When play begins, the raucous crowd is ruthless. Players enter the golfing coliseum through a makeshift tunnel before stepping up to the infamous tee. Find the green with their shot, and the stadium celebrates with rapturous fervor; miss it, and the 20,000-strong crowd erupts with catcalls and jeers.
Players “can embrace it and play along with it,” Edmonson says. “But if you try to fight it, they’ll crucify you.”
Tiger Woods embraced it. In 1997, with a 9-iron in his hand, as he reached the top of his backstroke, the TV caller said: “They’re going to go nuts when he hits this thing.” Less than a second later, Woods’ ball took off from the tee box, and the noise from the crowd reached the level of a Boeing 747 during takeoff.
When the ball finally hit the green, it bounced twice and dropped into the hole. The crowd practically broke the sound barrier in celebration. After high-fiving his caddy and playing partner, Woods turned to the crowd and alternated between fist pumps and “raise the roof” motions for the entirety of the 152-yard walk to collect his ball from the hole.
Some of the players even encourage the crowd to cheer and make noise while they’re hitting their shot. “No other hole in golf really has that,” says Ryan Conlogue, an insurance group service operations supervisor who attends the Phoenix Open every year.
Just another day at the Phoenix Open. Credit: WM Phoenix Open / Facebook.com
Like many spectators, Conlogue turns up to the event in fancy dress. Cast a gaze across the stands that line 16, and you’ll see gorilla suits, caddy overalls, Sesame Street characters, and Where’s Waldo (if you can spot him).
Conlogue arrives dressed as professional golfer Rickie Fowler, a one-time winner and two-time runner up at the tournament, with whom he bears a striking resemblance. “People do some wild things out there, so it’s just what I do to kind of be funny,” he says.
Like Edmonson, Conlogue estimates that most people in the crowd are not there for the golf — nor to enjoy just one or two drinks. “People are there to drink all day,” he says.
When play eventually stops, the party continues at the Coors Light Birds Nest, a 50,000-square-foot live music venue and the official afterparty that takes place every night from Wednesday through Saturday. Its headline acts span musical genres from country to punk rock to hip-hop.
On Feb. 1, 2019, Snoop Dogg took the Birds Nest’s party atmosphere to “a whole new level,” according to local news site AZCentral, when he brought pole dancers, “blunts,” and worked the crowd with iconic hits like “Gin and Juice” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot.”
“It’s just a really cool atmosphere — people hanging out, enjoying music, and enjoying some beverages,” Conlogue says.
TPC Scottsdale’s 16th hole is the only one on the PGA Tour that’s completely enclosed by stands. Credit: WM Phoenix Open / Facebook.com
Among all the partying, some still find time to use the event for their business interests. Patrick Shaughnessy, a 67-year-old finance industry veteran, has attended the event for more than 20 years. Through his work, he gains access to one of the corporate “Skyboxes” that overlook the 16th hole.
For $53,000, the corporate package includes 34 Skybox tickets per day, and perks such as complimentary food (breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon buffet) and an “open” bar. While general admission costs between $45 and $60 depending on the day, Shaughnessy says the $1,500 per person for the Skybox is a canny investment and describes it as the “best business development tool ever.”
The tournament offers similar, slightly cheaper packages on the 17th and 18th holes, but it’s 16 that holds the biggest pull. “My clients always wanted to go, so I had to take care of them,” Shaughnessy says. “And then they’ve wanted to bring their friends — prospects in my world. So I’ve gotten many, many introductions to people from all over the country who come here for this thing.”
Shaughnessy calls the 16th hole “the madhouse,” and says Friday and Saturday at the event are “just insanity.” But when there’s potential business to be done, just like the golfers, “you have to be on your game,” he says. “I have a tendency to pace myself out there because I know it’s a marathon, not a sprint.”
Perhaps the most subtle of the tournament’s quirks is its title sponsor, Waste Management. In place of the requisite insurance companies, investment banks, cell phone networks, or luxury carmakers that tend to align themselves with elite sporting events, the Phoenix Open has been supported by a company that specializes in trash disposal and recycling for the last decade.
In a way, it comes full circle. “When you put 160 to 170,000 people on a property, and you have to open up the next day and play golf, that property looks like the remains at Woodstock,” Shaughnessy says. “The place is a mess.”
While spectators get wasted, Waste Management cleans up the mess. Shaughnessy believes it’s a perfect fit. “I’m telling you,” he says, “they couldn’t have found a better sponsor.”
