nicky byrne one-shot

𝓲𝓶𝓪𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓮 - i'm coming home, back to the place where i belong

𝔀𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓲𝓷𝓰𝓼 - military homecoming, happy tears, older brother x nicky, maybe a swear word or two

𝓭𝓮𝓼𝓬𝓻𝓲𝓹𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 - after being away in the military for three years, gabriella byrne, the younger sister of westlife legend nicky byrne, decides to surprise her popstar brother during the reunion tour of westlife. surprising him on stage where he belongs in the country that she belongs.

𝓪𝓾𝓽𝓱𝓸𝓻'𝓼 𝓷𝓸𝓽𝓮 - my last military homecoming nicky one-shot was originally meant to be this one with kenzie byrne but i decided last minute to change it but i did still want to write this one so, i've decided to make another homecoming nicky byrne one-shot but with a different name lol. okay enjoy! it'll also be in lowercase because almost every single one of my one-shots lately has been in lowercase!

gabriella byrne giggled as she waited for the exact moment to surprise her older brother, nicky byrne. gabriella, or gabby as she's preferably called, had been serving with the irish military for the last three/four years. now home from her deployment and decided that during her brother's show at croke park with westlife and the entire westlife family, she'd surprise him on stage.

shockingly, she had managed to sneak onto the stage without the fans noticing and crouched down, hiding behind nicky who was smack bang in the centre of the stage, singing into his microphone that was on his mic stand. the reason the other three, kian, shane and mark were not reacting was that they had already been told and made aware of gabby's surprise homecoming weeks before when she first jet-setted home.

the veteran had placed her finger over her mouth to keep the crowd quiet as she finally felt the courage and the right timing to stand up behind her brother. she then decided to grab out her index finger and stick her finger in her brother's ear, the one that wasn't being covered by his in-ear monitor. however, she almost blew her own cover by nearly laughing, quickly though, she managed to compose herself and this time, she didn't hesitate and she just went for it and stuck her finger in nicky's ear.

groaning in frustration because it was the second time that concert that a finger had been stuck inside nicky's ear, the first one done by shane. nicky was about to "calmly" tell shane to get his finger out of his ear, like he had done earlier on in the show...

earlier that night

the concert had been absolutely perfect. the four westlife lads were having the time of their lives up on the croke park stage. the four grown, adult men who have wives and children were behaving like children as they ran from one end to the other end of the stage, bumping into each other during choreographed routines, and sticking their wet fingers into each other's ears...

giggles and grossed-out groans fell from nicky's mouth as he felt his bandmate's finger in his ear, "...shane, get your finger out of my ear!" nicky chuckled, smacking shane's finger away, shane also laughing away at the quite gross interaction

he then ran away to badger mark and kian who both rolled their eyes at their two best friends who were nicknamed "shnicky". and this was a reminder as to why they were nicknamed that.

as the lads continued to sing and "move" through their songs and choreography, a moment of pause and speeches suddenly crept up when it was decided that shane and nicky were going to explain what had happened during the previous song.

"okay, just before nicky starts his five-minute-long speech *giggles* i think i should address the thing that we all saw happen in that last song. for those confused, i stuck my finger in my mouth and then stuck it into nicky's ear..." shane trailed off as laughter filled the outdoor stadium as shane and the other three lads started to laugh, shaking their heads

"...which, by the way, is very disgusting and i don't recommend becoming the victim of it because it's gross and it's..."

"...says the one who is never the victim until just now!" shane argues as nicky rolls his eyes but nods his head in agreement since shane wasn't wrong

"okay, fine, i'll take that!" nicky jokingly groaned which caused even more laughter as kian and mark rolled their eyes, just waiting for this whole thing to be over so they could sing another song

after nicky started his speech and let the wet willy thing go, the show continued on normally for another set until it was a costume change and a different vibe when it was time for the big surprise...

present time "...seriously? shane, stop it!" nicky groaned with a giggle, swatting, unknowingly, his sister's hand away from his ear and continued to sing, not thinking anything of it

that was until a second time that he got a finger in his ear that not only did he raise his voice for the finger to get out of his ear but also turned around, only to finally realise who it was behind him. this time though, to throw nicky off, gabby was going to poke his cheek instead of putting her finger in his ear to see if it would elicit a different reaction and maybe have him turn around to reveal the surprise.

so, she poked his cheek and, the reaction she got afterwards was absolutely priceless.

after getting poked in the cheek, nicky reached over with his hand, as well as turning around to who he thought was his bandmate, shane, to tell him to stop touching him when he was met with his younger sister, gabby.

turning around to what he thought was shane, the look on his face was priceless as he saw who it was, "...ga..gabby?" he stammered out as silence filled the usual loud and rambunctious croke park crowd of 82,000

"hey, nicky! can i get a hug?" gabby asks as casually as possible as she giggles at her older brother's stunned reaction

as his bandmates watched with bated breath and tearful eyes to see what he'd do next, nicky's smile grew bigger, placing his microphone on his mic stand and nodded his head, moving over to his sister and pulled her in for a hug. the moment the byrne siblings embraced one another, the entirety of croke park roared in cheers and applause over the reunion.

"hey...what...what are you doing home?" nicky breathed out in shock, tears welling in his eyes as the brother and sister pulled out of the hug

"my contract with the military has finished up nico, i'm done!" gabby smiled as nicky hugged his sister again in relief that he wouldn't have to fear for his sister's life anymore

"oh thank god!" nicky mumbled as kian, mark and shane rushed over to join the hug as everyone chuckled and awed

after gabby got through the rest of the hugs from kian, mark and shane, along with a few more from nicky, she then left the stage so the lads could finish the rest of the show. whilst the lads continued singing after they all composed themselves, nicky especially, after the surprise from his sister, gabby enjoyed the rest of the show with the rest of the westlife family.

by the time the concert finished, twitter and instagram had blown up with the news that at the croke park show, nicky was reunited with his younger sister and that so many people had filmed it and were now uploading it so the fans who weren't present at the concert could see the moment for themselves.

the brother and sister then separately posted about the fact that gabby was back home after four years.

it's crazy for me to even think about the fact that all three of these photos were taken four years ago. of course, rocco and jay were old enough to have somewhat of an understanding as to why i was leaving and what my job was but, gia, who was only a few months old at the time, obviously had no idea what was going on and why i was all of a sudden leaving. and now, four years later, we're all older and i'm back home, where i belong! croke park, thank you for the spectacular welcome home you gave me the moment i stepped foot on that stage to surprise my older brother. if i could go back and do it all again just so i could see the look on nicky's face, i would because it was absolutely priceless and a moment which i don't think i'm ever going to forget! i love you so much, nicky, and i am so glad i was able to surprise you, even if it meant sticking my finger into your ear as well as having that same finger poke your cheek to get your attention.

so this was a small short little one-shot that i wanted to write just so i had something up for today and to get my creative juices flowing! so apologies that it is so short but i love it and i hope you do too!
