Y’all’ve prolly seen the line-up for the TMNT AU Competition, and it’s filled with a whole lot of really talented and awesome creators. Seeing so many people I admire up there might be a little anxiety inducing /j, but I’m so excited regardless of how far Sep might make it.

I’ll post more of the ‘ganda when my uhh..round?…bracket? is up (🫣 still not 100% on the proper terms for these things, as I was so busy during the Leo competition, I could only really enjoy the tail end of it) but just wanted to do a little something to wish everyone good luck and say, I hope everyone has a good time!

Maybe I’ll make my own short poll to see what kind of reward you guys would want if we get a few wins? Like, if y’all’d like some family fluff, some angst, maybe (work permitting) a larger next update, heck maybe I could even give it another go at a little side fic. Idk. I’m open to whatever, if we make it far enough!

I love the concept of your AU so much, little Leo is adorable and I already loved Hueso and Leo's dynamic in the show but the father son relationship in your AU... chef's kiss

I really hope I captured your Hueso alright, he is such a good dad and the twins deserve a little bit of support. Plus I couldn't NOT draw the Leos together >:) (also I saw some fanart where Hueso's threatening Draxum to get Leo and I thought it was so good so I tried to nod to that concept here as well lol)

tbh haven’t reached out beyond my lil bubble here, and I like for other AU creators to feel totally comfortable with any kind of interactions between their AUs and my silly little guy— especially since there are some Intense Themes in TNV and I don’t wanna intrude too much on others’ AU settings—

but with @intotheelliwoods ’s 2AL @dianagj-art Sep-Leo I think the silliest (and chillest) interactions would just include TNV-Leo getting fashion pointers from Sprout, Poptart, and One because those boys have Drip and my Leo does Not LOOOOL

hiii IS!!! Hope ur doing ok!! I saw a tmnt 2012 sep au u created with ellestrade and I wanted to know if it'd be alright if I could ask like a million questions about it 👉👈 the concept is SO GOOD and I love it so much!!! It's been in my brain train for a while(as ur works tend to do lol) so it was honestly a matter of time B4 i picked up a pencil and my art app 4 it heehee. I also asked ellestrade for permission 2 dw!!

I am so with you. So many Ask concepts do back-flips in my brain every now and then and I adore letting them run wild. However, I’m going to refrain from continuing to expand online myself.

As much as I would love to go absolutely nuts answering a million questions while coming up with answers on the spot, I don’t feel comfortable doing so with an AU that’s not wholly mine.

The discussions on any AUs all happened through the Asks from @ellestrade to me. That’s a basis that I am comfortable sharing thoughts and information on. I love rants on AUs, but only when I know for a fact that I’m not stepping on toes.

Now, yes, I do have some part in their creation, but I’m not in constant contact with Ellestrade. I haven’t heard from that blog in a while. I don’t feel comfortable having discussions on what could or could not be possible while Ellestrade sits on the sidelines, yk?

That would be planting ideas with no basis. It wouldn’t be fair for me to play jurisdiction over what’s not inherently mine.

Maybe when Ellestrade pops up again it, one could be expanded on.

Or, maybe not. Ellestrade does have solo AUs on the brain.

I still got quite a few AUs to filter though in my ask box (not complaining, tmnt dreamers are the best) so my brainspace is plenty occupied with world building.

As far as I’m concerned, you’re free to do whatever drawings you want with what’s available rn! (As long as credits are due) I love your stuff. So much ✨talent ✨

But I’m going to hold off on expanding on stuff until I’m sure everyone is comfortable with me sharing. Especially my fellow tmnt2012 dreamer/envisioned/creator.

Imma be honest I’m a little confused ngl. I swear some time ago you said the Timothy and Donnie of your Sep! AU are platonic/queer-platonic, but now (to me at least) they seemed to be portrayed in a more romantic way. It could just be my obsession with timatello tho, so I just want to get my bearings straight (lol). What is Timothy and Donnie’s relationship exactly?

(This might be an overly explained answer—I’m just putting this all out there for any other people who might be thinking to ask me about this as well)

So tldr is, I’ve also gone on record that I haven’t ever 100% made up my mind on most of the boys’ sexualities—It’s just never been my bag, to make a one and done statement regarding this—because some days I might like drawing characters just hanging out, and other days I might want to draw something more romantic or schmoopy.

I’m not at all ragging on people who like to be more on the nose with labels, but to me, when characters are fictional, and you put them in a ridgid box like that, it can kinda take away half the fun of exploring that character in certain situations.

I do get why it’s a big deal for other creators to wanna do this with the characters they wish to see themselves in, but that’s the beauty of fandom—they can draw or write that, if that’s what they want to see! There’s plenty of creators out there who do the whole “these are the labels of this character and I’m gonna write/draw a whole story exploring that” and that’s amazing!

I’m just not that consistent. I’m more just kinda over here, drawing what I feel like—like a little kid debating whether they’re gonna dunk their Barbies in a bucket of ice water for an hour, or if she’s gonna smash their faces together.

Still, I will say— as my final answer to your question —romance probably won’t ever be a huge plot driver in the official EW comic, so people can continue to see EW Donnie however they want—they just might have to ignore the more romantic side sketches. 😂
