Some more sad news to share - Manga creator Satomi Mikuriya, the creator of such manga as Nora (the basis for the infamous Twinkle Nora Rock Me! OVA) and a designer on Crusher Joe: The Movie, Golgo 13: The Professional, and Big Wars has passed away. He was 74 years old. RIP to another old-school veteran.

Shueisha has announced that manga creator Satomi Mikuriya passed away on December 14, 2022. Mikuriya had been undergoing medical treatment. He was 74 years old at the time of his passing.
Mikuriya was born on May 20, 1948 in Nagasaki. He debuted in 1970 with the Kuroi Tsurugi manga.

Twinkle Nora Rock Me! Laserdisc(1985) . . Twinkle Nora Rock Me, the anime quoted to be “the worst anime of all time” and understandably I can see why it got that title. The animation is super super low budget, with from what I read somewhere the frame rate was as low as two frames per second in some scenes, which is just sad. Basically there’s no in between work which makes it so choppy which made a bit of a meme-able anime especially with the infamous dance scene, lol. I saw somewhere saying the probably overspent on the audio/music and ran out of funds to pay for the in between animation which if true is so unfortunate, and actually the LP is longer than the actual OVA runtime! The soundtrack isn’t that bad either! You can listen to it YouTube. And in fact you can watch the ova there as well! Another aspect that labels this as the worst anime would be the general writing of it. You have Nora Scholar as the main protagonist who now a bounty hunter but this times she’s has psychic powers? Which she apparently gets in the manga? (Also the manga itself is a whole level of weirdness.) Anyways her job is to catch a notorious bad guy, a few fight scenes here and there and the some dance scenes at the end and that’s pretty much it lol! Go watch it for yourself and be the judge! . . I’ve actually become fond of Satomi Mikuriya’s artwork! I think his style was bit ahead of his time with others like Buichu Terasawa or Ryochi Ikegami and others where the style was on the border of realistic and cartoonish! So I brought the LD with the Nora manga together! The price was pretty decent as well! Crunchyroll, il palinsesto estivo si arricchisce di altri anime
Le nuove serie in simulcast si fanno sempre più numerose.
Annunciati da Crunchyroll altri quattro anime che andranno a far parte dell’imminente palinsesto estivo 2021 della piattaforma, che come ormai ci ha abituato, fra novità stagionali e serie in corso, vedrà il catalogo italiano rapidamente riempirsi di titoli un po’ per tutti i gusti, da seguire in streaming on demand, in contemporanea con la trasmissione giapponese.
NUOVI SIMULCAST
NIGHT HEAD 2041
Serie animata ispirata al drama live-action degli anni ‘90, ideato e diretto da George Iida, intitolato appunto “Night Head”. Il lancio dell’anime sta venendo accompagnato da un manga, un romanzo e una rappresentazione teatrale.
Si dice che gli umani non usino il 70% del loro cervello. Si crede che alcuni poteri misteriosi sfoggiati da alcune persone derivino proprio da questa parte della mente. C'è un termine usato per il 70% del cervello che non viene usato.... "NIGHT HEAD". Due uomini si risvegliano in una foresta. Scacciati dalla società proprio perché in possesso di tali poteri psichici, i due fratelli Naoto e Naoya Kirihara sono stati detenuti in un laboratoro di ricerca in cui si studia chi è in possesso di tali doti, per gli ultimi 15 anni. Sperano che la ragione per cui sono stati in grado di fuggire dalla struttura è che la gente sia pronta ad accettarli e a dare il benvenuto agli psichici nella società, proprio come detto loro dal capo del laboratorio, Kyojiro Mikuriya. Ma quello che scoprono è che nella Tokyo del 2041 non solo è negata l'esistenza dei poteri pschici, ma qualsiasi cosa che riguarda i fenomeni sovrannaturali, per esempio da libri e fumetti, è del tutto censurata. Il National Security Headquarters ha il compito di sostenere il pensiero scientifico e di proteggere la nazione reprimendo chiunque esprima pensieri pericolosi. Due fratelli facevano parte di questa squadra speciale d'elite. Takuya e Yuya Kuroki furono abbandonati dai loro genitori quando erano piccoli e sono stati presi nella squadra. Pensavano che i fenomeni sovrannaturali non esistessero e non hanno mai messo in discussione il loro dovere di braccare ogni pericoloso criminale che la pensasse diversamente, ma un giorno hanno incontrato una donna chiamata Shoko Futami, durante una missione. "La barriera è stata rotta". Takuya e Yuya hanno poi incontrato i fuggiaschi Naoto e Naoya, guidati verso i loro fratelli psichici dalle parole di Shoko. Fratelli che fuggono e fratelli che li inseguono... sta per iniziare la storia di queste due coppie di persone che vivono sotto il giogo del destino.
La serie sci-fi è diretta da Takamitsu Hirakawa (direttore della computer grafica in Etotama e Revisions) presso lo studio SHIROGUMI (Etotama, Revisions) e ad occuparsi della sceneggiatura c’è ancora una volta George Iida. Il design dei personaggi è concepito da Oh! great, l’autore di “Air Gear”, mentre le musiche sono composte da Yutaka Yamada (Tokyo Ghoul, Great Pretender).

THE GREAT JAHY WILL NOT BE DEFEATED!
Serie animata nasata sul manga “The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!” (Jahysama wa Kujikenai!), scritto e disegnato da Wakame Konbu (The Maid I hired recently is Mysterious, Dreaming Prima Girl!).
La Grande Jahy, seconda in comando del Regno Oscuro, è una figura spaventosa, temuta e riverita da tutti. Ma quando durante uno scontro con una maghetta il prezioso cristallo di mana viene distrutto, il Regno Oscuro cade in frantumi, trasportando la ora piccola e impotente Jahy nel mondo umano! Sfortunatamente, tramare la rinascita del Regno Oscuro da un angusto e fatiscente monolocale non è un'impresa facile, soprattutto quando hai un affitto da pagare e un lavoro da mantenere!
La commedia slice of life è diretta da Mirai Minato (Masamune-kun’s Revenge, BOFURI) presso lo studio SILVER LINK (Non Non Biyori, BOFURI, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!). La sceneggiatura è affidata a Michiko Yokote (Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san, Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches), mentre il character design è ad opera di Saori Nakashiki, che si occupa anche di supervisionare il comparto animazioni. Le musiche per la colona sonora sono composte da Koji Fujimoto e Osamu Sasaki.

THEATRE OF DARKNESS: YAMISHIBAI 9
Non stagione della peculiare serie di corti horror che presenta miti e leggende metropolitane in una forma digitalizzata dello stile “kamishibai”, un tipo di spettacolo teatrale con immagini di carta in auge tra gli anni ’20 e gli anni ’50. Ogni stagione ha delle tematiche differenti e un cast adibito a molteplici ruoli.
I nuovi episodi di “Theatre of Darkness: Yamishibai” saranno prodotti ancora una volta dallo studio ILCA (Onara Goro, Ninja Collection) in collaborazione con TIA e DRAWIZ. Gli sceneggiatori dietro alla nuova stagione saranno: Hiromu Kumamoto, Mitsuhiro Sasagi, Kanako Ishigami e Megumi Yokoyama.
D_CIDE TRAUMEREI THE ANIMATION
Serie animata parte del nuovo progetto crossmediale nato dalla collaborazione fra Bushiroad e gli studi di sviluppo Sumzap e Drecom, che comprenderà anche un videogioco mobile, che però seguirà una storia diversa con un altro protagonista.
Descritto come un action teen dalle tinte noir, liberamente ispirato al celebre Ciclo di Cthulhu di Howard Phillips Lovecraft, l’universo narrativo è ambientato in un mondo in cui persone spaventate e disperate possono stringere patti con indicibili esseri antichi, la cui sola presenza scuote le fondamenta della realtà stessa.
La storia è ambientata a Shibuya ed è incentrata su Ryuhei, che da bambino ha visto morire suo fratello maggiore a causa di un misterioso e inspiegabile incidente. Ora è un liceale e non mostra alcun segno del trauma di quell'esperienza da incubo, trascorrendo la maggior parte del suo tempo libero facendo kickboxing. Un giorno, però, mentre si sta allenando incontra una creatura che si fa chiamare Tris, che lo morde, trasportandolo all’interno di uno strano sogno.
Il soggetto originale è scritto da Tadashi Satomi (Shin Megami Tensei: Persona, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, The Caligula Effect) che ha anche supervisionato il concept del personaggi, disegnati da Kukka. Per quanto riguarda lo staff coinvolto direttamente nella realizzazione dell’anime, alla regia presso lo studio SANZIGEN (BanG Dream! 3rd Season, Bubuki Buranki, ID-0) troviamo Yoshikazu Kon (direttore della computer grafica in ID-0 e Tiger & Bunny), mentre la sceneggiatura è curata da Hiroshi Ohnogi (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Aquarion, GeGeGe no Kitaro). Il character design è adattato per l’animazione da BlasTrain e le musiche sono firmate da Kouhei Tanaka (Hyouka, One Piece).

The Planet Garaga manga and its adaptation Hyper-Psychic Geo Garaga VHS Picked these up last month. Im really liking the art style of Satomi Mikuriya. The anime I guess is a loose and compact telling of the story. Hyper-Psychic Geo Garaga Laserdisc! Laserdisc version of the anime Geo Garaga” The laserdisc it self looks to be in good shape but don’t have a player so can’t say otherwise. It comes with an insert which is a settei sheet! The first side has the art of Satomi Mikuriya and another artost named Minako Uchida, and on the backside the art of Moriyasu Taniguchi who also did the cover art along side of Hidemi Kudo!
