Twinkle Nora Rock Me! Laserdisc(1985) . . Twinkle Nora Rock Me, the anime quoted to be “the worst anime of all time” and understandably I can see why it got that title. The animation is super super low budget, with from what I read somewhere the frame rate was as low as two frames per second in some scenes, which is just sad. Basically there’s no in between work which makes it so choppy which made a bit of a meme-able anime especially with the infamous dance scene, lol. I saw somewhere saying the probably overspent on the audio/music and ran out of funds to pay for the in between animation which if true is so unfortunate, and actually the LP is longer than the actual OVA runtime! The soundtrack isn’t that bad either! You can listen to it YouTube. And in fact you can watch the ova there as well! Another aspect that labels this as the worst anime would be the general writing of it. You have Nora Scholar as the main protagonist who now a bounty hunter but this times she’s has psychic powers? Which she apparently gets in the manga? (Also the manga itself is a whole level of weirdness.) Anyways her job is to catch a notorious bad guy, a few fight scenes here and there and the some dance scenes at the end and that’s pretty much it lol! Go watch it for yourself and be the judge! . . I’ve actually become fond of Satomi Mikuriya’s artwork! I think his style was bit ahead of his time with others like Buichu Terasawa or Ryochi Ikegami and others where the style was on the border of realistic and cartoonish! So I brought the LD with the Nora manga together! The price was pretty decent as well! Manga Shōnen Monthly from December 1980, featuring Nora from the manga Nora, and 009/Joe Shimamura & Princess Tamara from Cyborg 009 The Legend of the Super Galaxy, on the Cover! . . Manga Shōnen Monthly published by Asahi Sonorama from 1975 to the early 80s, went defunct and was succeeded by “DUO” Monthly Manga Magazine! This issue covers Nora “The Sulfide/Sulfur Current”, Part one of manga adaptations Cyborg 009 The Legend of the Super Galaxy, Nausca/Nasuka by Leiji Matsumoto, Phoenix by Osamu Tezuka and many other stories! . . Brought this last month with the other Nora stuff. Super cheap but not without reason, pages are super yellowed smell a bit, some dents in the back cover but the front cover has some wear marks but could be worse. I’ll make a post for the laserdisc later this week and that’ll be it for the Nora related content for a while. Nora tankobon volume 1 & 2 with a bunkobon version which has both volumes! . . Nora, the story takes place in the 21th century, and basically revolves around the actions of a young woman named Nora Scholar. Her and along with the help of others, are fighting and trying to save the poisoned n dying planet and save as many people as the can from the authoritarian leaders! . The story is a bit here and there, the pacing is kinda of fast so it’s a little easy to not understand what’s fully happening. But I guess with it being only to volumes you gonna have to cut a few corners. It definitely isn’t the best but what can you do. Also I believe the anime “Nora” takes pace after the events in the manga. As the story in the anime takes place in space but the manga they’re at the beginning of transitioning people from earth to space. So there’s no real correlation between the manga and anime FYI. You can find the manga online if you want to read it, but it hasn’t been fully translated. . . Picked this both up last month. I brought the 2 tonkobon with the Twinkle Nora Rock Me laserdisc, which I’ll post later. And brought the bunkobon version by itself. The bunkobon version confuses me a bit cause the way it printed. What I mean is some of the later chapters from Vol.2 of the tankobon are printed first then what is in vol.1?
