#Sasuke later made Sarada apologize to her mother

Sarada, teary eyed: Is mom my real mom?
Sasuke, confused as hell: Is she your real mom? What does that even mean??
Sarada: Is she really your wife? My mom?
Sasuke: Did someone say she isn’t my wife??? Who said she isn’t my wife?!
Sarada: What? No? I just found this picture of this woman with really similar glasses to me next to you. *hands picture*
Sasuke, again, confused as hell: You thought…this woman was your mother…because…she has…glasses like you??
Sarada, nodding: Well, and she’s standing next to you in the picture. I look a lot like you so it’s not like I look like mom.
Sasuke, astounded: *blink* *blink* Did you tell your mother about this?
Sarada, sheepish: Yeah…she got mad…and destroyed the house with a punch.
Sasuke: And that over dramatic response didn’t make you think she’s your mother?
Sarada: …no
Sasuke: I have one wife. I have one child. Both of these people, who I care deeply about, are going to give me an aneurysm. Sakura is your mother. The only person that was ever going to be your mother is Sakura. This has been an eye opening experience and clearly I need to come home more.

After reading @dushman-e-jaan and her excellent analysis of Gaiden, I ended up buying it to see everything for myself.
And I am just as confused as ever about Sasuke and his feelings toward/relationship with Sakura. And maybe this is on purpose.
So let's begin:
In the panel where Sakura punches Shin, she shouts, "what are you doing to my hubby and beloved daughter?!"
Later on, while talking to Oorchimaru, Sasuke refers to Sakura as his wife and later on says, "my wife isnt that weak / she probably took care of everything already" right before they go to rescue her.
Sasuke has been gone for YEARS and it doesnt seem like he communicates with Sakura at all; how would he know this? Why would he even say this?
While trapped with the shin clones, Sakura again refers to Sasuke as her husband, saying that she was merely helping Sasuke investigate him (the clone) by collecting information that he freely gives during a typical villain monologue.
Sarada is ALSO confused by this; she thinks back to Sasuke apologizing to Sakura and saying she is not weak and wondering about the nature of their relationship.
Additionally, when Sakura is fighting Shin in the cave, she is injured and Sasuke goes to closely inspect her injuries. He didnt even do this shit during the war arc! And the stakes were much higher!
There is also some confusion as to why Sakura was even at the gokage meeting! What was the purpose of her being there? Why is she being given access to top secret/kage level information?
(It is also not clear if she is ACTUALLY helping Sasuke investigate or what because her relationship with Naruto seems the same/nonexistent so how did she know about the gokage meeting. Did Naruto invite her? Do she and Sasuke actually talk and she knew he would be there?).
And in the end of the manga, he took the time to have dinner with them (while looking super tired/distressed) AND to take a family photo (with his characteristic scowl).
However, Sasuke is not excited to see Sakura when she arrives to the tower and doesnt kiss (or forehead poke) her as he's leaving. Also, we get a close up of his scowl/frown as he is leaving, with another close up of his lunch.
(I should post scans in here but there is a part where Sarada tells Boruto that lunches are important because of the people who make them - in this scene, Boruto thinks of Hinata, and gives it over to Sarada to take to Naruto).
However, these close ups can be interpreted as proof that Sasuke doesnt really care about Sakura because he is so indifferent to the lunch she made for him.
Maybe all of this is on purpose; maybe Kishimoto said fuck you and fuck this and wrote this wild shit to confuse everyone.
Here is Sasuke calling Sakura his wife when talking to others (so in a way claiming her and that relationship), he protects Sarada without hesitation, he seems to think highly/care about Sakura BUT he tells Sarada that she is the reason they have a bond at all, he looks distressed at dinner with them (as does Sakura tbh), isn't excited to see her after several years apart, doesnt smile at her/rejects Sakura romantically (also, Sasuke is *surprised/startled* when Sakura asks for a kiss/forehead poke) and through the bento symbolism we can assume that she is not special to him.
And I think the question of whether or not Sakura is the mother is an interesting one because the question of paternity is always with the father! It seems super rare to wonder who your mother is. So I feel like this moreso calls into question their sexual relationship than anything else.
I guess Karin confirmed, kinda, they had sex? But it's still vague/implied (she chased him, they traveled together, and then she had a baby). Also, in Japanese culture, the mother DOES keep the umbilical cord. And in the manga, Karin refers to the desk (that the cord is kept in) as her body!!!
So what the fuck Kishimoto?!
I guess I can conclude that Sasuke doesn't desire romantic or emotional closeness with Sakura, but is willing to honor his (bare minimum) duties since they are married and have a child together.
(I do want to note that in the gokage meeting, there is only one panel showing Sakura's full face, but everything else only shows a small portion of it and in the last panel of this flashback three quarters of her body is literally covered by a speech bubble! So she's there but not relevant!).
Anyway. Those are my Gaiden thoughts.

What's your opinion on Boruto?
Ok, so I had to wait until I was on my laptop for a bit to respond to this one, because, it's complicated and long. I have only watched up to "Himawari's Ninja Trial Session" #154 so far.
On the one hand,
•I like that we get to see the characters all grown up, and seeing their children is super fun! Mitsuki, Inojin, Chocho, Himawari, and Shikadai are all a lot of fun to watch and my favorites in the show. We get to see Kakashi, and Gai, and Tenten, Ino, Sai, and other of my favorite og Naruto characters all grown up and living their best lives.
On the other hand.... (and this one will be a lot longer ghdskfld).
• The characterization for a lot of the og Naruto characters, is, let's just say, off. Naruto, after everything with his parents and wishing he could have his parents back, being an absent father? Especially with all of the shadow clones he can make and chakra he has? No. Tsunade and Kakashi AND Naruto all letting Orochimaru go free, after everything he has done to Konoha, and being able to experiment more? No. Sakura being ok with being basically a single mother, raising Sarada all by herself, never getting over Sasuke? Nope!
• But, here's the thing: I'm also rather bothered by the ending of Shippuden. The beginning of the series, there is a really strong stance on "breaking the cycle of hatred." Once Naruto becomes more mainstream, the solution for "breaking the cycle of hatred" is finally revealed: don't seek reparations, don't try and change the current system too much, and just forgive and forget.
➼ Naruto, shunned and hated by the village? There is never any reparations shown, just, now that he has saved them all and is a hero, they pretend it never happens? No one apologizes, or talks about it? There's just a small scene with Naruto accepting the "dark" side of himself that is upset with how he is treated, and it's all brushed over.
➼ Same with Kakashi, being shunned as a kid for Sakumo saving his team? Later labeled a "friend killer" and still shunned, when all he is doing is doing his best for the village and acting on their rules. And Sakumo, driven to the unthinkable because of the hatred of the village. There is never actually any action taken there.
➼ This includes the Uchiha and Sasuke. His entire clan was shunned, considered "cursed with hatred", ostracized, and eventually killed because of Danzo, his brother made out to be the only perpetrator. He, rightfully, wants revolution, an entire upturning of the current system that allowed this to happen. He went a little too far in killing others not involved in this system, but he wasn't wrong. He and his entire clan that he represents were grievously mistreated by this system, and nothing is ever really done about it. Sure, Danzo is killed, but he wasn't the only one complicit in the massacre. The only reason Sasuke doesn't get the reparations he deserves is because of Naruto, too, because he would have had to kill him, his best friend, to do it. And isn't that fucked up, that you have to even hurt, let alone kill, your best friend to get the justice you deserve? Sasuke was given the short end of the stick on that one.
• And, finally: the aliens from space were a complete cop-out on the writers part. No, seriously. Everything bad ever done is blamed on Zetsu and Kaguya manipulating from the shadows, with the exception of a couple of the worst ones (looking at you Danzo). Madara still started a war and killed hundreds over it, same with Obito. The villages still behaved terribly towards those who were different (Gaara, the kekkei genkai massacre in Mist, Naruto, Kakashi, Uchiha clan, Tailed Beasts, etc.).
➼ If they actually wanted to stick to the og message of "breaking the cycle of hatred", they would have had Madara be the actual final villain, the wronged clan leader of the Uchiha, and they would have won, sure, but barely, and recognized how their own prejudices and behavior lead to another great war. Maybe Obito would have survived, to not leave the Uchiha clan with only one member. There would be a new generation after the war, of people who realized that the previous way wasn't working; that it was wrong. With Sasuke and Obito helping lead that change, with Kakashi and Naruto as their Hokages. There would be ACTUAL CHANGE.
This all could have translated over to Boruto, with actual justice for those wronged, and not just burying the past and hoping the next generation will never find out. I hate that Sarada has no idea what happened to her own clan, that she is so far removed from her own clan and history. Boruto doesn't really understand what his dad went through as a kid. Naruto as an absent father. A scientist that experiments on a kills children, allowed to walk free, with the children he experimented on (Yamato, Karin, Suigetsu, Jugo) having to either stay with him or watch him 24/7.
So, anon, sorry that turned into an essay, ghdskflsd, but the above bullets are how I feel on Boruto. If the ending of Naruto Shippuden and Boruto actually addressed the systemic injustices and issues in the villages, I would have absolutely loved it. As it is now, I will probably still watch it, but I get upset over all the above bullet points each time I watch and rant to all my discord friends about it (sorry about that ghdskflsd)

Written for @harunosakuraweek Day 2 - Mission gone wrong
Rating : General audience
Characters : Haruno Sakura, Uchiha Sasuke and Uchiha Sarada
Summary : When baby Sarada made her Papa proud and her Mama embarrassed
FFN Ao3
~~~~
The success rate of a mission depended upon how fast one analysed the situation, devised a solid plan, and implemented the plan with as few errors as possible — that’s what she had learned during her academy days. Of all the places, Sakura didn’t expect to assign herself a mission in her own house until she found Sasuke muttering something.
“Usuratonkachi,” Sasuke said in his usual arrogant tone.
The baby in his lap, with her wide black eyes, watched him as she chewed the plushy doll that she held in her hand.
“Come on, say usuratonkachi.” Sasuke tried to pry the plush doll from Sarada’s hand, but even at a year and a half, Sarada’s grip was strong, just like her mother’s.
Sakura watched attentively from the background, trying to contemplate the situation. Sasuke forcing the toy out of Sarada’s mouth was necessary, but what was with trying to make her learn a disrespectful word.
“Usuratonkachi,” Sasuke repeated slowly, as he wiped off the drool smeared on Sarada’s face using his sleeve.
Sarada watched him again with wide eyes, scrunched her face and tried to vocalize, “U-uu-su-uusu-sur.”
“Good girl,” Sasuke encouraged her by patting on her head.
"U-u-sur-a-ton-chii," Sarada finally blurted out, gleefully throwing her hands in the air.
Although she didn’t get the word correctly, Sasuke was proud that her daughter caught things fast. It was no wonder when Sarada said mama and papa just a few days after they started teaching her. Soon the list became a long one when she also started picking up words on her own by listening to her parents' conversation.
Sasuke smirked smugly as he tried again, “Usuraton—”
“Seriously, Sasuke-kun? You are acting like a kid,” Sakura chided him. Walking from behind, she now stood before him, hands on her hips.
Time to start the mission. Enemy ambushed inside his own territory.
“I know you felt embarrassed when Naruto laughed out loud after Sarada called you Anata in front of him, but that doesn’t mean you can add a derogatory word to her vocabulary.”
Sasuke grunted, remembering the scene. He turned his face away, cursing Naruto under his breath.
Sasuke’s ignorance fumed her anger more, and she snapped, “Or plan revenge using your daughter.”
Sasuke moved his head just to be met with Sakura’s heated stare. After a few seconds of glaring, Sasuke again turned his face away, making Sakura more angry.
“Tch.”
So the enemy doesn't want to surrender. Time to change the strategy.
“I know that felt humiliating,” Sakura started in an attempt to console Sasuke, but abruptly stopped.
Sensing the tension between her parents, Sarada had crawled towards Sakura and tugged on her dress. Sarada blinked her big baby eyes to coax her mother to pick her up. Sakura couldn’t help but smile, her anger dissolving. She held her close to her body, kissed her chubby cheeks, and blurted out, “but we can’t help it because our daughter is so intelligent.”
Sarada giggled at being praised by her mother. Sasuke’s sour expression vanished in a moment when he saw two of the most precious people in his life smiling brightly at him. He knew they were his weakness, and he happily gave into it.
Shannaroo! Mission Successful!
Seeing Sasuke’s mood getting a little better, Sakura teased him, “Isn’t it, Sasuke-kun?”
“Aah, I’ll forgive that loser this time,” Sasuke huffed, smirking.
Sakura was about to reprimand him, when Sarada started to say, “Saa-su—”
“Papa! Sarada, it’s Papa,” Sakura frantically whined, as Sasuke stifled a laughter.
Sarada blinked a few times and chanted Papa Papa while she wriggled in Sakura’s arm to reach for Sasuke.
A few weeks later, the Uchiha family went out to stock up their groceries. Sasuke carried Sarada in his arm, while Sakura was paying the bill to the shopkeeper and chatted. It was then Sasuke noticed their blonde teammate coming over their way, waving at them.
Sasuke turned his head in another direction, not acknowledging his presence. He didn’t forget the insult yet, and moreover now he couldn’t even plan revenge.
Sasuke impatiently listened to their conversation, not paying much attention. He responded by nodding and keeping his reply short, never really showing he was still mad at Naruto for making fun of him.
Sarada, not knowing about her Papa’s true feelings, relished chewing the sleeve of Sasuke’s shirt. A bit irritated by Sarada’s actions now, he was managing to force the fabric out from Sarada’s mouth when he heard Sakura berating Naruto and smacking him on his head.
Sasuke wouldn’t admit it openly, but he loved watching Sakura kicking some sense into Naruto. He cursed himself inwardly for not paying attention from the start of their bickering as he heard Sakura yelling.
“Baka Naruto!”
Just when Sasuke thought the show was almost over as Naruto grumbled apologies to Sakura, his intelligent daughter fluently repeated, “Baka Naruto, Baka Naruto.”
Naruto shot up a confused look at Sakura, while Sakura shot a death glare at Sasuke.
“What? I’m innocent here,” Sasuke said before laughing out hard.
Sarada laughed, proudly displaying her milk teeth, joining her father on his victory.
Sakura chuckled nervously, apologising to Naruto, who stood mortified. Inwardly Sakura cried, Shannaroo! The mission failed totally.
Sakura only sees Sarada as a possession
Tumblr media
This screenshot is from the latest Boruto Episode 152, "Developing One's Medical Ninjutsu” (2020).
I have a huge issue with this screenshot because it reminds of something disturbing, and something very personal: child abuse.
In Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Season 4 Episode 18, "Desperate" (2003), a man is a prime suspect in the murder of his second wife, and his young son Tommy (from his first wife, who is presumed dead or missing) is terrified of his father because he saw his father murder his second wife after all, but is too traumatized to say anything. During an interrogation by Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler, the man keeps referring to his son as "my son" instead of his name ("Tommy"). Even Benson pointed this out, as you can see in the episode's transcript:
Tumblr media
And, as we all remember from Naruto Gaiden (2015), Sakura is indeed abusive, a batterer, towards Sarada.
In Chapter 1, when Sarada questions Sakura on her virtually-nonexistent-relationship with Sasuke, Sakura's infamous temper flares up very quickly, to the point where she yells at Sarada while angrily punching the ground, which causes their house to collapse and makes Sarada cry.
As someone who has personally suffered from child abuse from my parents, both physical and verbal abuse, and who has currently been in therapy for over a year because of my fucked-up abusive upbringing, I learned from my therapist that this is actually a common abuse tactic that abusers use to silence their victims.
Sakura used both physical and verbal abuse on Sarada to silence her.
Naruto Gaiden Chapter 1, Page 16:
Tumblr media
Naruto Gaiden Chapter 1, Page 17:
Tumblr media
Then, Sakura apologizes only for raising her voice, not for making Sarada cry.
This is another common abuse tactic that abusers use on their victims: after performing the abuse, the abuser apologizes indirectly to make themselves seem sincere, but the abuser never apologizes for what they actually did. If the abused victim falls for the so-called "sincere" apology, the abuser is given the power to continue manipulating, abusing, and controlling their victims.
Sakura made Sarada cry, which, again, she does not apologize for.
Naruto Gaiden Chapter 1, Page 18:
Tumblr media
Then, ultimately, Sakura cares more about the house collapsing than making Sarada cry.
A house can easily be fixed or even outright replaced. In stark contrast, people, human beings, cannot be easily fixed nor replaced, because every single person is unique.
Naruto Gaiden Chapter 1, Page 19:
Tumblr media
Then, in Chapter 5, Sakura does exactly what the father did in that Law & Order: SVU episode: she demonstrated she only sees Sarada as a possession, an Uchiha token, a reminder that she’s Sasuke’s daughter.
When Shizune explains why Sarada went to find Sasuke, Sakura refers to Sarada as “that child of mine”, instead of referring to her by her name.
Not to mention that Sakura is visibly exasperated with Sarada for wanting to know about her father, even though as her mother, she should have been doing that for Sarada’s entire life instead of having a temper tantrum, breaking her house in pure unadulterated anger, and making Sarada cry when Sarada questions her and Sasuke’s nonexistent relationship.
Naruto Gaiden Chapter 5, Page 5:
Tumblr media
Then, in the finale, Sakura calls Sarada an "idiot child" because Sarada did not believe that she was really her mother. This is so blatantly verbal abuse, it does not require further explanation.
A good, loving, caring parent will never call their children “idiots”.
You know what kind of parent does call their children “idiots”? Abusive ones.
Naruto Gaiden Chapter 10, Page 6:
Tumblr media
Going back to the screenshot at the very top from Boruto Episode 152: Sakura looks at the list of genin who are going to attend her Medical Ninjutsu class, and she sees Sarada's name on it. She says "My daughter is on the list!" She could have said "Sarada's on the list!" But no. She says “my daughter.”
Just like the father in that Law & Order: SVU episode, the father who is revealed to be a batterer (a.k.a., an abuser), the father who kept referring to his son Tommy as “my son” rather than by his name, this new episode reveals that Sakura sees Sarada as nothing more than a possession, something to own and control, rather than as a real person, because, more often than not, she refers to Sarada as “that child” or “my daughter” rather than by her name. This just further establishes what we already knew from Naruto Gaiden: Sakura merely sees Sarada as an Uchiha token because it reminds her that she snagged her precious Sasuke-kun -- something that she had been trying to do ever since Chapter 3, her introductory chapter.
Bear in mind that Masashi Kishimoto created, wrote, and drew Naruto Gaiden. This means that, in that sequel manga, Kishimoto chose to make Sakura an abusive parent, a batterer, towards Sarada -- similar to how he chose to make Sakura abusive towards Naruto and batter and beat him to near-death throughout the original manga.
Also, bear in mind that the Boruto anime is indeed canon because of Kishimoto's personal involvement, as pointed out in these three official interviews: Spiralling Sphere 2017, Comicbook.com 2017, and Comicbook.com 2018. This means that, in this new episode, Kishimoto chose to have Sakura refer to Sarada as a possession -- similar to how he chose to make Sakura refer to Sarada as a possession in Naruto Gaiden, and similar to how he chose to make Sakura view Sasuke as a possession in the original manga.
Naruto Chapter 3, Page 6 (a.k.a., Sakura’s introductory chapter):
Tumblr media
TL;DR -- Sakura has not changed one damn bit since her very first appearance in 1999. Despite being an adult and a mother now, she’s still displaying the exact same flaws that she had as a child: she’s still abusive, she’s still controlling, she’s still manipulative, and she’s still possessive. She has not developed whatsoever over 20 years later.
Dear Anti SasuSaku Posts ...
I hate started drama and shit, but I've noticed a few seriously annoying things.
I am not a fan of the canon Naruto ending. The ships are at best nice, and at worst abusive and confusing. If I turn my head a bit and walk about a million steps away, I can see them in a better light. I don't appreciate hate for other ships, but I understand where it comes from, and I also understand it can blind people sometimes.
As much as I do not relish in the fact that SasuSaku is canon, I also notice that a lot of posts that go against it, tend to unnecessarily bash on Sakura.
Believe me, I was once the exact same. All I could see was how annoying or useless Sakura was, and I still see those words used to describe her in posts. But the fact was that I was bias with Sasuke, and I didn't try my best to understand Sakura's character. All I did was see how much of a fangirl she was, and how she watched Naruto and Sasuke fight from behind. That is not the point of her character.
Sakura grew up in a relatively happy home, with two parents, lots of friends, and love. Unlike Naruto or Sasuke, which were both orphans and experienced unimaginable loneliness and pain, Sakura did NOT.
She's a normal kid. She's only 12, remember? These kids are only 12. She doesn't know any better! All kids complain about their parents, and wish they could live alone instead. She doesn't understand how much pain it caused Naruto or Sasuke to live without their families. She doesn't know how lonely it is, or how devastating it is. Sakura is literally just a 12 year old kid. And she admits this later on in the series. She admits how selfish and blind she was, and even sees Naruto in a much different light - she learned from her mistakes.
Many people also point of that Sakura called Naruto annoying various times, and didn't treat him with respect. This was obviously because everyone treated Naruto this way before. The entire village bullied him. Kids, adults, etc. Sakura didn't know any better. She just wanted Sasuke's approval back then, and said whatever came to mind to make Sasuke feel superior to Naruto. That failed horribly, and she soon came to realize how much pain she caused Naruto. Sasuke called her annoying, and it hurt, so she knew Naruto must've been hurt by her comments as well. She connected the dots and apologized eventually. It's about character development.
Speaking of character development, Sakura never got enough of it. Yes, she grew physically stronger, and yes, she learned to appreciate Naruto and apologize for the pain she caused him - but one single fact never changed.
Her infatuation with Sasuke.
To me, this was very clearly not love. I believed that with time, Sakura would open her eyes and realize she could find someone worthy of her love. Someone that wouldn't repeatedly call her annoying, or belittle her. But no. That character development never came. This is the primary reason so many anti-sasusaku shippers hate Sakura. Because she is so needy for Sasuke's love, it antagonizes her. Everyone begins to see her as the needy and sad character that never let Sasuke be free, and eventually forced him into having her child.
Sakura obviously did not force Sasuke to impregnate her, that makes no sense.
Kishimoto never gave my girl the proper development she deserved, and like many other female Naruto characters, shoved her beside the man she was infatuated with for her entire life. I won't even start on Boruto, because nothing in that series makes any sense. They completely did a 180 with Sasuke's character, and made all of the relationships appear lovely and not forced at all. It still saddens me, but I've come to accept it, because holding unnecessary hate or dislike for a series that once brought me so much joy is unhealthy.
I do love and feel for Sarada, though.
Even she doubted the credibility of the relationship between her parents, because obviously she misses her father who is never around to support her.
Anyway. The point is anti-SasuSaku fans need to stop attacking Sakura's character! anti-ship posts need to stop being made too, but I obviously can't stop people from sharing their opinions, so just don't bash on a character unnecessarily. It's alright to hate a ship, but it's not okay to place the majority of that hate on one character, when it takes two to make a ship.
Sakura is a good character. She did her best with what Kishimoto gave her, and I appreciate that. She helped defeat Kaguya, killed Akatsuki members like a boss, trained under Tsunade, healed and saved numerous people including Naruto, and basically became a single mother. Maybe her relationship with Sasuke doesn't make much sense, but that's the way things are now. At least in Boruto. If it infuriates you that much, don't watch the series. Don't hate on people who do watch it. And don't hate a single character for the mistakes of an entire writing team, and Kishimoto.
Thanks for coming to my TedTalk, and I hope I haven't enraged people unnecessarily.
Much love from your neighborhood Naruto fan, and happy new years!
I have to go
General Audience Sasuke/Sakura & Sarada Feelings, Bittersweet
      "I'm leaving."
"Sasuke." His wife said softly, she was sad and it was his fault, as always he was the one to crush her heart. It had been four years since he was in Konoha with his family, he wouldn't deny it had been the happiest years of his life. Yet a shadow had lingered in his mind since he started his travels and now its roots where embeded deep into his awareness. He couldn't sleep, he barely eat and it was killing Sakura to see him like this without being able to help. "I-" Sakura stopped and went silent again, she didn't know what to say.
"I won't be able to come back for some time." He continued, it was best to say everything in one go than to prolong the inevitable hurt his decision will cause.
Sakura eyes jumped to his, her hurt, confusion and anger where all there, she didn't need to utter a word for him to understand.
"The danger I have been feeling... It's real and getting closer, Naruto can feel it too. I've waited too much to act."
"That doesn't mean you have to go and not being able to come home...!" She choked.
Sasuke wanted to reach for her, to embrace her taking all of the hurt and fear away. But doing so would just give her false hope, so he stayed his hand and took a slow breath. "It does. What I'm about to do will not just take me around the five countries, I'll have to jump through realities and other worlds. I don't know what I might find and what could follow. Mi rinnegan is like a beacon to all those other dimensions, if I'm not careful enough I could put you and Sarada in danger." He stated calmly.
Sakura fist clenched, he only hoped she wouldn't hit anything or the whole house would come down. It had already happen once. "Even if you say that...! It sounds like you're going to go for years and not come back."
Sasuke didn't answer, because she was right. When she realized his silence was a confirmation she made a dismayed moan followed by a sob. "You could still come from time to time, if not, Sarada might even...even..." She couldn't finish, her tears too many and he knew her throat was constricted.
"She will forget how I look, the sound of my voice." He finished for her.
Now her eyes sharpened and fury was starting to burn in them. "How can you be so calm saying things like that! Don't you feel anything when you're about to leave us? Or is it that you don't care anymore?" She screamed.
Sasuke should know better than to lose his temper, specially because she was speaking without thinking and she was hurting. But even after all this years he still wasn't a master to his emotions. He moved in a flash in front of her and grabed her wrist forcefully. "How could you know how I feel?" He hissed. "Do you think I want to lose my family again? To wake every morning alone and go to sleep without feeling the warmth of my wife and daughter through out the whole day? To have to choose between hurting the ones I love again or risk to lose them forever? Sakura. You have never known what any of that is like. You haven't tasted true loneliness." He finished, his voice cold and his heart stoned.
Sakura watched him with wide eyes, tears marrying her face. Then she grabbed him by the front of the shirt and brought him closer to her eyes. "You're an asshole Uchiha Sasuke! Not for even a second think I don't care how you're going to feel. Don't you see? I hurt when you hurt, it'll kill me when our Sarada cries for her dad and you won't be able to soothe her!" He felt his heart squeeze painfully. Why did he have to cause so much hurt and pain to those he loved? Maybe it had been better to leave Sakura to find someone else who could make her happy without stealing it away shortly after. But he had been selfish, he had wanted to embrace the woman he loved, he had wanted to see a small child running around Konoha with the uchiwa symbol in their back.
Sasuke teared away his wife's hand away from his shirt violently. It was the wrong move, Sakura reciprocated his move by taking him by the arm and throwing him through the glass backyard door. The glass made a strenuous sound and he grunted when the impact of earth against his back rushed the air out of his lungs. Before he could regain some focus Sakura straddled him and punched the earth besides his head, it broke the earth and some debris flew around them. His wife was panting, more in deep emotion than in exertion, he instead was trying to get a normal breath pattern that let him think straight. The silence around them grew longer and strained.
When he was able to focus his gaze again he watched the furious frowned face of the woman he loved atop of him. Sasuke covered his eyes with his arm, an almost hysteric laugh erupted from his mouth. He only guessed what expression Sakura could have now, maybe he finally had convinced her that he was absolutely crazy and broken beyond repair.
"Sasuke." He heard her sweet voice contorted with emotion. He realized too late that he was crying, Sakura moved his arm out of the way and buried her hand in his hair drawing their foreheads together. He closed his eyes again as more tears fell down, their breaths mingled together and he felt droplets fall into his cheeks. Tears over tears, hurt over hurt, helplessness with hopelessness.
"I'm sorry Sakura. I should have never-"
"Don't say it!" She stopped him. "I knew who you where when we started this, I knew the dangers and the troubles it would bring. But still I would choose to face all the hurts and perils of this world by your side than none by someone else's side."
Sasuke breathed and pulled her into an embrace. Her face rested by his neck and her hands in his chest. He didn't deserve her nor Sarada, but she had warned him to stop saying such foolish things or she would have to punch some sense into him, so he didn't say it. He could feel her heartbeat against his chest it calmed and soothed his mind into a blank state. "I wish I could be better." He whispered. "I wish I didn't have to go, that whenever I'm with my daughter in the Village people wouldn't step back in fear nor pull their children away from Sarada for who her father is. I wish too, that my anger against them wasn't growing again and be the father Sarada needs. If I stay how I currently am, I'll hurt the two of you." There it was, another reason for why he was leaving, it wasn't the prime reason but it had weighted heavy on his mind as well. He didn't want to be a catalyst for their daughter to be ostracized and make her resentment grow like it easily sprouted in him.
Sakura took a shaky breath but replied sadly "I know."
"I still can't-can't let all of my hate go. It's there always, waiting for something to latch into."
Sakura raised from his chest, smiled mournfully and tenderly moved some of his hair out of his face. "Someday you won't have to worry about it anymore." She said with conviction, he could only wonder what she saw in him, but he believed her because he couldn't do anything else.
"But not today."
"Not today." She agreed.
They both started to get up, but he suddenly stopped when pain broke through his shoulder. Sakura noticed immediately, not two seconds later her chakra was flowing in his shoulder repairing the damage she had caused with her burst of anger.
"Sorry for losing my temper." She said sheepishly.
"Hn." You don't have to apologize. She smiled understanding what he meant.
...............................................
He watched as Sarada squished her mothers face and giggled and Sakura smiled right back at her and cooed, but her attention changed quickly at him. "Papa!" Sarada called to him making grabby hands. His face softened and walked closer to take their daughter from his wife's arms. "Why are you sad papa?" Sarada took his face between her tiny hands, Sakura saw him turn an his Sharingan, he wanted to remember perfectly his last moments with Sarada. Sakura's heart twisted painfully in her chest when her husband smiled sadly at his hope and greatest accomplishment. He had said so when he had seen her walk on her own for the first time.
 "She represents all the good in my life...And you gave her to me." She had smiled watching at their sleeping daughter in her lap, she had exausted herself after taking her first steps. They were seated in their garden enjoying a warm spring afternoon.  "Sakura." He called. She turned her gaze from her daughter to her husband. Their eyes met and it surprised her to see so much love in there, for he had always left his feelings locked away from others, he still rarely showed them so freely, even to her. "Thank you." He said softly, it was said so earnestly and lovingly she couldn't help some tears to drop down her cheeks.
 Sasuke had smirked bemusedly and turned to see the sky again. "Crybaby." He teased.
 Sakura giggled drying her tears. "Sheesh. Sasuke, don't go saying those things out of the blue."
"Hn." A gust of wind swirled their hair, his bangs moved back and she could see the smile still present in his face, she caresed Sarada's hair a big smile stretching her face, she had never been more happy and she knew neither had Sasuke..
"Don't be sad papa! Or mama will get sad too!" Sarada pouted.
Sasuke put her down and stayed at her eye level, then put a hand on her head. "It will be okay Sarada, your mom is strong." She will take care of you. "You will have to watch after her for me while I'm away." I'm sorry. All the things he left unsaid Sakura could pick and it added to her heartache.
"When will you be back papa? I don't want you to go!" Sarada wined.
Sasuke stayed silent, his face impassive but Sakura knew it was killing him to hear that. He rested his forehead against her tiny one. Her cheeks puffed when he moved back and she buried her face into his neck.
"I won't let you go!" She declared strongly.
Sakura smiled sadly. Knowing her daughter she wouldn't release her papa until she fell sleep, which she would do soon for it was past her usual sleep time.
...............................................
Sasuke was in his travel clothes a grim look in his face.
"Take care Sasuke, don't make me have to travel half the world to heal you." She said teasing.
"Hn." As if. She had gotten pretty good at translating his short answers, she giggled. When she looked into his eyes she was surprised to see his sharingan was on, her heart fluttered again like the first time he had done it and she could feel a small blush rise into her face and she saw a small smirk appear in his face.
But then she remembered where they were and what was about to happen and sobered up as inevitability catch up to them, so she put her hand over his chest and pressed a soft kiss into his mouth, they parted millimeters so their lips brushed when she spoke. "You will come back."
She stated it with strength, then she moved back and her hand dropped down to her side again. "Now go, don't linger anymore." It hurt to say it, but she didn't want him to suffer more of what a long goodbye would entail.
He stared at her for some time. "Sakura..."
Sakura sighed, raised her hand and tapped his forehead. "You can tell me next time." She didn't let him say anymore, it wouldn't help.
He looked surprised at her then huffed and deactivated his Sharingan. "Hn."
He turned and started to walk away, he didn't falter nor turned back because if he did Sakura knew he wouldn't be able to keep going. But she stayed there until his figure had long disappeared in the road. A warm wind ruffled her hair and she closed her eyes remembering his warm smile in a not so long afternoon and the small girl sleeping in her room right now. "Thank you, Sasuke."
Beginnings
Chapter 14 – Determined
Summary: Today, Sarada grew up a bit.
Rating: G
Disclaimer: I don’t own Naruto
Chapter one HERE | Previous Chapter HERE | AO3 | Part of Origins series
A/N: Holy shit I can’t believe this is the last chapter of this segment of my series! Thank you SO MUCH to everyone’s encouraging words! HERE is the link to my twitter poll on what Naruto OTP I should write about next! (I’ll also link it again at the end of the chapter so you don’t have to scroll a bunch.) If you can’t/don’t want to vote via twitter, you can comment on this chapter who you think I should write about. I’ll have the list at the end. Enjoy!
~
They started becoming closer when he started visiting Konoha more often in between bouts of his redemption. At first, it started out with all of team 7 reuniting; then Kakashi became busier with the Chunin exams approaching, then Naruto became busy for unknown reasons (it wasn’t to their knowledge, but Kakashi told him to give the two alone-time for his own meddling). Eventually, Sasuke starting walking her home from work. She’d talk about her day, and he’d listen. When she asked about his most recent mission, his answer was short. She never expected a long answer – just having him back was more than enough. Sakura’s happiness for this was painfully obvious. She would even cancel planned events with her friends for an evening of just chatting with Sasuke… though, none of her friends ever minded. If anything, they encouraged it.
On this particular day; however, Sakura had a newfound confidence. They were sitting on a lone bench, quietly watching the sea as the sun set.
He spoke first this time, “I’m leaving for again in two days.”
“How long?” She frowned a little bit, enjoying how much time they’ve been spending together. It’d been about four weeks since he last left.
“Not sure.” Sasuke shrugged, eyes stuck on slow waves.
“Let me come with you.” Green eyes stared at his expression, trying to read mysterious thoughts.
He sighed, “This doesn’t involve you.” [You don’t deserve to get tangled up in my sins.]
Normally, Sakura would’ve slumped in defeat, and Sasuke would’ve poked her forehead. Instead, she stood up with a huff, and stormed away. His gaze redirected towards the sea, knowing she would eventually understand.
Two days later, Sasuke was about to leave again. To his surprise, she wasn’t there to see him off. Deciding that he really pissed her off (or maybe she had an emergency at the hospital?), he headed out.
He was stopped the moment he took a step.
“Sasuke-kun! Wait!” Pink hair practically flew in the wind as she raced up to him. He almost frowned when he saw that she had a packed bag, “I’m going with you. I already turned in my resignation at the hospital, and Kakashi-sensei gave me the okay.”
He blinked. Her eyes held a mix of multiple emotions. One being hurt. Was she hurt because he wouldn’t take her with him? No, it was deeper than that. She desperately wanted to rekindle their relationship (what kind of relationship that was? He had no idea). That’s when he realized it – not only did he need to redeem himself with the world, but with Sakura as well. One of the people he hurt the most – one of the people who still stood by him despite that.
Also, the determination in her eyes let him know she wouldn’t change her mind.
“Tch.” He turned around so she couldn’t see the faint blush on his cheeks, “Fine. It’ll be good to have a medic with me.”
When she didn’t move, he faced her again, knowing his blush would be practically invisible. Her eyes were wide in shock and mouth slightly parted. With a soft smile, he tapped her forehead.
“C’mon, let’s go.”
~
Sakura was having that dream again; the one where their relationship really started to bloom. When they traveled together, loved together, and grew together. To her own frustration, it was abruptly interrupted by her phone ringing.
With a groggy frown, she answered it, expecting it to be the hospital for an emergency surgery. Instead, it was her old friend, “Sakura-chan, can you come to my office?
“Hmmm? Naruto?” She yawned, not amused that it was only 3am. She JUST laid down to sleep about an hour ago. However, since becoming the Hokage, Naruto’s personality shifted to a more serious attitude. He wouldn’t call for no reason, “Is there something wrong?”
“We’ve made new discoveries; I can’t discuss it on the phone.” The young man nodded as if she were in front of him.
Her mind immediately went towards her husband, who left for a mission about five years ago. Is he okay? “I’ll be right over. I just have to take Sarada to my parent’s place.”
“Got it. See you soon.”
Even though Sarada was already seven, and could probably manage on her own for a few hours, Sakura remained a protective mother. She woke up Sarada (who groggily protested; she was so much like her father when it came to being woken up), packed a few things, and then headed towards the Haruno house. Her parents were almost used to this – Sakura brought Sarada over multiple times due to hospital emergencies. Though her parents could see through her obvious anxieties this time.
“What’s wrong?” Her mother furrowed her brows after Sarada was settled into Sakura’s old bed.
“Naruto called me saying he needed me to come to his office right away…” Sakura slipped her shoes back on, ready to leave.
Both of them immediately knew where her mind went, “Keep us updated, sweetie.”
With that, Sakura almost ran to the Hokage’s office, thousands of ways that Sasuke could be dead racing through her thoughts. When she practically burst through the door, her breath caught in her throat.
There he was.
“Sasuke-kun…”
His hair had definitely gotten longer, and he changed his outfit to include a cape and vest. His eyebrows pressed into confusion as he glanced at Naruto.
“I called her to come while you were in the bathroom. She should know about this since she helped us defeat Kaguya during the war.”
It was, quite frankly, a bullshit excuse in Sasuke’s mind. He knew his friend was just plotting for him to meet up with his wife. Sasuke sighed with a nod, glancing at Sakura once before talking to the other gokage (who happened to be visiting for their summit meeting) about his findings with the Otsutsuki clan and other white Zetsu’s.
~
After the meeting was over, one of Naruto’s clones and Sakura walked with Sasuke back to the gate. It was silent, and awkward.
Naruto didn’t like that.
He pulled his phone from his pocket, “Oh, uh, Hinata just texted me. Boruto isn’t feeling well so she asked me to grab some medicine for him. I’m gonna head out, y’know.” The blond smiled somewhat sheepishly, “Be careful out there, Teme. Keep me updated with anymore findings.”
Sasuke nodded as Naruto ran off.
They stood in silence at the front of the gate, crows chirping against the sunrise. Sasuke struggled with what he wanted to say – how he wanted to apologize. He was only against keeping contact with them because he didn’t want to put her or Sarada in danger.
“Sakura, I’m- “
She interrupted him, “Don’t apologize, Sasuke-kun. I know you have to do this to protect us. It’s difficult, because you’re missing so much. She’s growing into such a kind, smart soul. She’s at the top of her class and works incredibly hard. Soon, she’ll be joining the academy; she wants to be a strong ninja. I’ve been training her too with combat and helping with ninja tools. Of course, my shuriken and kunai use isn’t as good as yours, but your natural talent in that shines so brightly through her. Her laugh and smile are so pure and full of joy, I wish I could share it with you, though the others say she gets that from me. While she fights with Boruto a lot, they’re still really close friends and it reminds me of the old Team 7. I think she could even have a crush on him, but she’d give me the silent treatment for a month if I teased her about that. Her personality is really showing and I can’t wait to see what paths in life she takes. But it’s also hard because she’s starting to ask more questions about you. Where you are, what kind of person you’re like. She completely forgets you, and the most recent photo I have of you is over ten years old. She misses you. I miss you, bu-“
Sasuke couldn’t handle the sobs that she let out anymore. Her cheeks were stained with tears, and her chest was heaving. At this point, she could barely breathe. He pulled her into the tightest hug he could manage.
“Sakura, thank you.” His eyes were filled with a feeling she couldn’t describe. Regret? No. Loneliness? Not quite.
Passion.
She only realized this when his lips crashed into hers. It was sloppy at first because she didn’t expect it, but her mouth moved due to muscle memory.
He had almost forgot what she tasted like, her scent. It reminded him of home. Reluctantly, they parted. Her eyes widened when she realized a tear fell from his own eyes.
She gently wiped them away, “I’ll stay strong. For us.”
He sniffled once before kissing her forehead, then gave a weak smile.
“Until next time, my wife.”
“Until next time, my husband.” Her smile was just as uncertain as his.
Once his figure disappeared, she crouched to the ground, unable to keep her sobs quiet. In that moment, Naruto emerged from the wall he was hiding behind. He knelt next to her, resting his hand on her back.
When her sobs slowed, he spoke up and offered his handkerchief, “Sakura-chan, is there anything I can do to help?”
Sakura shakily wiped away her tears with the cloth, “N-No. Just having him see me was good enough.” She looked up at her friend with a wavering smile, “Thank you, Naruto.”
Wanting to provide support so she wouldn’t be alone, Naruto walked Sakura back to her parents’ place.
“Let me know if you ever need anything, okay?” He smiled. It’s the least I can do for your loneliness. I’m sorry.
“I will.” She nodded. Thank you for being my friend.
Hizashi and Mebuki were anxiously waiting for Sakura to return, sitting in the living room. Upon hearing her return, they practically rushed to the door. The moment she saw her parents; she broke down into silent tears.
They ushered her to the kitchen, where she sat on a barstool.
“Sakura, dear, I’m so sorry…” Mebuki began, assuming he was dead.
“No, no.” Sakura choked out, “I-I just saw him…”
“What?” Hizashi spoke up this time.
“I can’t explain the details of the mission, but he’ll be gone for longer. I don’t know when he’ll be back. I know he has to do this to protect us, but Sarada is starting to hate him, I can tell. She misses him, hell I miss him. So fucking much.”
Little did they know, Sarada noticed her mom returned. She froze in the hallway when she heard that Sakura saw her father for the first time in five years. Most kids would’ve been jealous. At this point, she didn’t even think of that.
Sasuke was hurting her mother by being gone.
Sarada wanted him back so her mom would stop crying.
She didn’t know how she’d bring him back. With no leads at seven years old, it’d be impossible. So for now, she’d wait. Wait until the time was right.
Sarada was determined.
END.
A/N: I can’t believe this is done. I’ve never been so emotionally invested in a story before… Honestly, I wouldn’t have continued this past the first few chapters if I didn’t receive so many amazing comments, likes/kudos, etc. Thank you so much everyone for being supportive!!!! As I stated above, I’d include the link to vote for who I should write about next! You can find that HERE! Also, if you don’t want to vote via twitter, you can comment here. The options are:
Naruhina (Boruto/Himawari origin story) Shikatema (Shikadai origin story) Saino (Inojin origin story) Nejten/Tenlee (Metal Lee origin story; hard to explain beyond that) Konohana Kakairu
With love, Konyah
Hello everyone! I’m back with the next chapter of ‘Is she beautiful?’ Previously, some of you were a bit upset with the ending of the last chapter, but I have done my best to correct that here. Let’s just say that I have put my heart and soul in this chapter!
Hope you like it!
It was beta-read by @roopshasil.
Chapter-3
Forgiving is hard
 "Sarada.“
Her mother’s soft voice floated through the closed door, sounding muffled.
“Go away, Mama!”
She buried her face deeper into the pillow trying to choke back her sobs.
“No honey. I’m coming in.”
The sound of the door opening and light footsteps approaching made her tense. But then, the loving pats on her head and the comforting presence and warmth of her mother calmed her down slightly. Sakura did not say anything. Knowing Sarada, trying to coax out a talk is not going to work. She knew that by now. Her daughter will not talk unless she is ready.
No words were exchanged before Sarada whispered in a broken voice, “Why did Papa say that? Does Papa think that bad of me?”
Sakura felt her heart crack at this.
No he doesn’t. If anything, he considers you to be the purest form of life in the entire messed up world he has lived in. It’s just that he’s too scared to imagine you making the same mistakes as him. He is scared to think the possibility of you getting so engrossed in your goals that you would voluntarily choose loneliness. But you, my child…you are not the one at fault here. He is. You’re not him. He’s just being paranoid.
There is so much Sakura wanted to tell her but she decided to refrain, because explaining the complications of Sasuke Uchiha’s life would require her daughter to be slightly older and a bit more mature, and not to mention, a bit more closer to her father. So, she tried to explain things as consisely as possible.
“Of course not silly. Papa would never think badly of you. It’s just that Sasuke-kun has never been a people’s person and has a hard time dealing with his feelings. And the other thing is that, I’ll be honest, he does not know you that well. He has been gone for far too long and is not sure how to behave around you and talk about your issues. He is awkward, I guess? And he is learning to how to be a father to you, so might make mistakes every now and then. I’m not asking you to forgive him, Sarada, I just need you to talk to him and tell him what you have in your heart. Will you do that, for Mama?”
Sarada nodded softly, her face still in the pillow, but after a while, got up, wiped her tears, removed her glasses, washed her face and put them back on. Sakura almost laughed at the look of pure determination on her daughter’s face.
It looks like you are heading out to face a battle, sweetie. Well, maybe it is, for you and your father. Don’t fail. Good luck, Sarada and Sasuke-kun.
Sakura watched her daughter’s back and wondered about the irony that despite wanting the best for their children, sometimes, parents do or say things that instead ends up in an opposite and disastrous way.
I’m sorry Sasuke-kun. You’re going to learn it the harder way.
….
He felt an overwhelming guilt gnawing at his conscience.
Maybe I was wrong? Maybe I should have phrased it differently? Maybe I should not have been that harsh?
There were so many maybes in Sasuke’s train of thoughts that regret almost swallowed him whole. He exhaled a deep breath and leant on the Sakura tree in the backyard of their house.
“Papa.”
His daughter’s voice startled him as he turned his head to look at her. Her red and puffy eyes behind the glasses reminded him again of his inappropriate and ruthless question.
“Sarada, look-”
He made an attempt to apologize and explain himself when she cut him off.
“Papa, we need to talk.”
She said this with so much assertiveness that he is simply able to nod, as she walked over to him and sat beside him and tucked her knees behind her arms. They sat there for a while in silence, not sure from where to start before Sasuke decided to speak out.
“I’m sorry, Sarada. I should not have said anything like that.”
His voice was sincere.
“No, Papa. I think that you might have been correct.”
Sasuke’s eyes widened at her words but she looked on straight ahead.
“After you said that, I found myself thinking about it, a-and I think you might have been correct. I mean, I do not want people to think that I supported Boruto’s unfair behaviour, but, then I also realised that this is just a small part of reason I am upset about this.”
Sasuke listened carefully, tilting his head to a side to let her know that she can continue.
“Papa, I-I am more upset about how people are behaving towards him now. They are talking about him behind his back, and yet loud enough for him to hear. They keep taunting him everywhere he goes. I understand that he has made some mistakes and should be punished appropriately, but he risked his life to make things right, too. Why can’t people see that?”
“I heard a few people saying that he must have cheated from the beginning to have such a good record. But I know that he didn’t. Yes, he is not exactly a hard worker and things come easy to him but they are now simply disregarding all his efforts and talents like they previously did just because he is the Hokage’s son. But now the only difference is that they call him a cheater.”
“He has courage and strength, he had stood up to protect me from those enemies even when he was as scared as well, he went to another dimension, putting his life on line to bring back his dad and even defeated a God to save everyone. Why can’t people see that?”
By the time she stopped talking, her fingers were digging into her arms making slight depressions. Sasuke had been watching his daughter intently for the entire span of time she was talking. Raising his only arm, he patted her head lovingly making her look up at him in surprise.
He said softly, “Sarada, people talk. The commoners, the ordinary citizens were not there to see him fighting Momoshiki. They were not there to see his courage or his adoration for his father. Actually, this world is a society of hypocrites. And there is no way out of it. He will have to learn to bear the consequences of his actions, and you and Mitsuki as well. And I’m so proud to have you, Sarada. I am proud of the fact that you are not going to abandon him.”
“Eh? Of course, I can’t. He is too much of an idiot to look after himself if I’m not around.” She said haughtily and Sasuke chuckled.
“But” the sadness in her voice made Sasuke look at her again, she continued, “I never imagined that he would actually do something like this. He did not even let me and Mitsuki know. It hurt. I am not sure why but I always thought that we were close enough for him to tell me everything. I guess, I was being overconfident with our friendship? He did not tell me, and I’m not even sure why and when we have drifted apart so much.” She smiled at him ruefully.
Sasuke found himself lamenting over about his own helplessness as a parent, knowing that the dilemma his daughter is struck in, that it is an argument between two friends, and a broken lifelong friendship is at stake. That this is an issue they have to solve by themselves without any outside interference.
He knew that Sarada has not been talking to Boruto. And this had been troubling him a lot. But the boy has pretty much apologized repeatedly but currently Sarada has refused to give him her forgiveness.
After all, forgiving is hard.
But fortunately, Sasuke also knew that if that kid is anything like his father, then he is not going to give up till his daughter accepts his apology and as much as he understands his daughter, then luckily for Boruto, he has got a soft spot in Sarada’s heart.
He smiled. A part of him was glad to have this conversation with Sarada. Now, he understood Sarada better, even if it was a fraction.
“Sasuke-kun, Sarada! Come inside! It’s dessert time!” Sakura’s melodious voice is loud enough from the inside of the house for them to hear and the young child beside him beamed as she jumped up and looked at him with barely contained glee.
“Come on, Papa! Let’s go!”
Sarada was in her pyjamas. She was so sleepy after the eventful day that she felt like she would crash into the bed and fall asleep within a minute. Her plans were ruined when there was a knock at her curtain covered balcony window.
“Sarada.”
A too familiar voice came, low enough that if she would have been sleeping, she would not have been disturbed.
Her feet moved before her mind could grasp at the situation. She slid the curtain away and came face to face with Boruto.
“What are you doing here, Boruto? It’s so late!” She whispered furiously.
He rubbed the back of his neck, a habit out of embarrassment.
“Yeah…you are right. It is late. I shouldn’t have come but I just wanted to say thank you for the candies. Hima was very happy. And um…well…”
“Well what?”
Sarada was not sure whether she was annoyed about his presence or at the fact that she was talking to him. Although, a part of her found it funny that he came here, in the middle of the night, just to thank her for some silly candies.
“Well…you know… I am really sorry about that…about everything that happened.” He whispered. His clear blue eyes were down cast, unable to look the girl, his childhood friend in the eyes - for breaking her trust on him, for deceiving her.
Sarada exhaled a deep sigh. If she did not have had that conversation with her Papa about this matter, she still would have ben mad at him or maybe…herself?
“Go home, Boruto. It’s getting really late. We will talk about it sometime later, okay?”
“Yeah, I probably should.” He smiled softly with melancholy. He turned towards the open balcony to leave.
“Hey!” She called out to him and smirked.
“What?” He looked back at her warily.
“Just because we had a conversation now doesn’t mean that I have forgiven you.”
He returned her smirk with a grin of his own.
“I know!” He yelled and jumped out of the balcony, leaving behind a smiling Sarada.
….
Cold wind whipped against his face and his golden bangs danced around as jumped from roof to roof. Although he would get into a lot of trouble if his mother found out that he had snuck out of the house so late. But he just wanted to have a talk with her.
And now that they had a talk, however as small as it was, it was still something. In fact, something is always better than nothing. Boruto grinned widely.
The victory grin was wiped off from his face when a familiar figure flickered in front of him. Boruto stopped hastily, almost crashing into the person. He looked up startled. The eyes, the same shade as his, stared down at him.
“Eh? D-dad? W-what are you doing here?” Boruto looked up at his father in panic.
“Should not I be the one asking you that? You’re lucky that this was one of the rare days when your mom was sleeping when I returned home or you would have gotten into a lot of trouble, boy.” Naruto stared at his son sternly.
Boruto gave his dad the best puppy eyes he could. It always used to work when he was a kid though he doubted its validity now.
“Don’t tell mom, please?”
Naruto smiled slightly, “Fine. But where were you?”
Boruto turned pink in embarrassment.
“I went to see Sarada, to say sorry, you know.”
Naruto turned pale immediately. He picked his son up and pokes and proded him fervently.
“H-hey! Dad what are you doing?!”
Boruto is hardly able to speak. He giggled, laughter threatening to burst out of his chest due to all the tickling. Naruto put Boruto down and grabbed him tightly.
“Sasuke did not hurt you, did he?”
“Eh? O-of course not! Why would he do that?”
“Thank god!” Naruto exclaimed.
“Dad! You didn’t answer my question.” The young kid pointed out again.
“Well, I don’t think I’ll like a little punk poking his head into my daughter’s room so late at night.” Naruto said nonchalantly.
Boruto turned pale. Naruto laughed and turned around with his back to his son and crouched down.
“Climb up!”
Boruto looked at his father in a nonplussed way.
“You’re giving me a piggy back ride? Don’t you think I am a bit old now for this?”
Despite saying this, Boruto was hardly able to control himself from grinning as he climbed up on his father’s back. Naruto returned his grin with a wide one of his own.
“Nope! Do you know I have seen Kakashi-sensei getting a piggy back ride, when he was, I think he was twenty nine back then?” Naruto told him.
“W-what?! Are you kidding me?! Old man Kakashi?!”
Boruto’s loud yell of astonishment made Naruto laugh harder as he remembered that scene.
And somewhere in Konoha, Kakashi sneezed.
“Looks like someone is talking about me.” He mused.
***
The balcony scene was a request from @roopshasil which I could not refuse. Actually, Sasuke being a hard parent is my personal headcanon. And sometimes things like this happen in real life too when parents make mistakes while handling their children. I felt that in accordance with Sasuke - Sarada situation since Sasuke does not know Sarada as well as Sakura does. That of course, does not mean that Sasuke loves her any less!
I am really excited to know your thoughts regarding this chapter! Please review!
Thank you!
See you again!
KakuSaku SmutoberFest 2017: Tempted
Summary: Kakashi has a crush on married woman, friend, and former student, Sakura. He’s also dealing with an ethical/moral conundrum, in that Sasuke has been less than faithful to Sakura and Kakashi knows it. Should he tell her she is being cheated on? Should he tell her how he feels about her? Temptation is hard to resist.
Rating: Adult, as there is an almost sex scene fantasy thing.
Author’s note: I hope to use this story as a precursor to a story for the prompt “Jealousy,” so keep an eye out for that story in the next couple of days, and let me know how I do! Please and thank you!
Kakashi looked from his book, down from his perch in the tree, towards the training ground. In the center of the area stood Sarada and Sakura Uchiha. He could not hear what the pink-haired mother was saying to her daughter, but he had just watched them practice hand-to-hand self-defense, and he would not have been surprised if Sakura was telling her daughter to work on her reflexes. The girl seemed stiff and hesitant to block or stop her mother’s movements, and Kakashi could not blame her, remembering the few lessons his father had been able to give him, and feeling hesitant to hit or raise his hands against Sakumo. Then again, he had grown hesitant around Sarada’s mother.
Sakura Uchiha. She was the wife of the famed Sasuke Uchiha, sole surviving member of the Uchiha family, raising the next generation line of that family while her husband went and worked on eradicating evil in the world (or so he said… Kakashi had suspicions…). She was friends with the Hokage of Konoha, who rarely made serious decisions without asking either Sakura or Kakashi himself. Sakura was herself a legendary figure, one of the heroes of the Fourth Shinobi World War turned doctor. Sakura had always been a medic and Kakashi knew she would turn her attentions to some form of medical work. What he did not know was that he would develop an attraction to her.
When he first met Sakura, Kakashi thought she was a silly, boy-obsessed child, someone who would likely drop out of the shinobi lifestyle and be a stay-at-home mother.  Sakura had grown both as a woman. She surprised and earned his respect a couple of times in the early years, and her stubbornness and dedication to her teammates impressed him, especially given how cruel Sasuke could be and how hard it was for Naruto to not be self-absorbed in the early years of their teammate-ship. On top of her inner-growth, Sakura had grown physically as well. She was strong, strong enough to punch craters into the ground without breaking a sweat. Kakashi once watched her wrestle an enraged Anbu member into a cot at the hospital. When she left Konoha to travel with Sasuke, Sakura was cute, innocent, but not quite developed as a woman. She was also seventeen.
At that point, Kakashi regarded her as a strong, young woman, but not a physically attractive one. When Sasuke brought her back to Konoha, she was carrying a tiny bundle named Sarada, and Kakashi saw in her the beauty of a happy mother. She was nearly nineteen, then, and had filled out in a way Kakashi had not expected. Her slim hips and breasts had become curvy, and no matter what was going on around her, she seemed to glow. Despite being left to support herself and a newborn (while her husband went out into the world and did whatever he wanted), Sakura never seemed lost or scared. Kakashi knew he would never be sure of where the cute but slightly awkward girl Sakura once was went, but he was fine with that. He loved the new, sexy, confident Sakura. He was in love with her.
If he could, if he thought he would make a difference without causing drama or pain for her, Kakashi would go to Sakura. He would go to the Uchiha compound and find their house, on some night when Sarada was away at a friends’ party, and he would tell Sakura everything. He would tell her all about what his Anbu buddies had said about Sasuke’s infidelity, about how he had caught Sasuke with someone in June, and how he agonized on what he should do. He would apologize for his hesitation in telling her about her slut husband, and then he would take her in his arms and hold her as she cried, or he would sit back and let her scream and rage at him, or help her with divorce paperwork, or… he would make love to her.
He would pull her body towards his, cup her face with one hand and wrap his unoccupied arm gently around her shoulders, and kiss her. Sakura would gasp or maybe try to move away, but he would push forward, deepening the kiss. She would realize that she loved it, loved him, and start kissing him back. Her tongue would meet his, and he would moan into her mouth. He would pull her up, into his lap, and she would straddle his lap, bringing her clothed center against his equally clothed erection.
They would have difficulty with breaking the kiss, but Kakashi would manage and pull her shirt and bra off, exposing her hard nipples. She would grind down on him in response, and he would buck up, making her moan. Kakashi would lick one nipple and use his fingers to stroke and flick the other. Sakura would gasp and squeal, ripping his shirt with her hands. He wouldn’t care, how could he care about a damn shirt when the woman he loved was grinding on him, was—
“I said, what are you doing up there? By your lack of response, I would guess you are napping.”
Kakashi blinked out of his erotic daydream and looked down from his perch in the tree to the smirking face of Sakura.
“Sorry. I was… enjoying the day. Its nice out,” Kakashi responded, thankful that he was sitting above her, and she could not see the outline of his hard cock through his pants, as she surely would have, had he been on the ground with her.
“Ah. I could have sworn I saw you up there, watching me help my daughter with her aim. Am I a good teacher?”
“Excellent, from what I saw,” Kakashi answered honestly. “When she first started throwing those senbon, I was afraid one would stray and hit someone in another field.”
Sakura chucked, green eyes sparkling.
“By the time you two finished, her aim was much better.”
“Well, I’ll take that as a compliment. You can tell her how impressed you are with her progression herself, next time you see her.”
Kakashi looked around, slightly surprised at Sakura’s words. “Where did she go?”
“Oh, she had to meet a friend for some sleepover. I thought I would come chat with you for a minute, then head home for a quiet night.”
Kakashi’s heart pounded at Sakura’s admission that she would be alone. This was his chance, his opportunity to tell her how he felt about her, what he saw in September when he went and check on him, he could—no. No, he couldn’t.
“Well, it sounds like you’re in for a nice night by yourself. You haven’t had one of those in years, I bet.”
“No, I haven’t. Actually, I was a little irritated by it earlier. I’m just not used to a quiet house. I asked a couple of friends to come hang out, but they’re either on their way to complete a mission, or they’re spending time with family. I don’t want to impose on another person’s time with their family.”
“Ah. Understandable.” Kakashi waited, hoping despite his resolution to resist his temptation.
“Well, I just wanted to see how you were doing. I’ll see you later, Kakashi. Have a good night!”
“You too, Sakura.”
As Sakura walked away, Kakashi tried to ignore his feelings of foolishness and guilt. He wanted to chase after her, wanted to say something, anything to her, but his stupid morals got in the way. Part of his brain kept saying “It’s none of your business,” while the part of his brain that seemed in touch with his heart kept saying “She deserves better, and you can give her that.” He felt terrible, though. It was taboo to have lustful feelings and thoughts towards his former student, especially one who was already married. Of course, she was married to an adulterer, but Kakashi never found it appropriate to get involved with others’ relationships, unless he saw abuse. His heart-connected brain kept trying to justify his temptation, telling him that cheating was a form of abuse, and that Sasuke was being neglectful to his wife and daughter, and Kakashi would be much better as both father and husband.
Kakashi knew he shouldn’t say something, and he reminded himself that it was not his place to say something as he jumped down from the tree. He knew it was not appropriate for him to go to Sakura and say anything about his attraction to her, and he knew he hated what Sasuke was doing to Sakura and Sarada by not being faithful to his wife and dedicated to his daughter’s wellbeing and upbringing. He couldn’t stand himself for being this week and giving into temptation like this, but he couldn’t stand the actions of Sasuke even more. He had to make things right for Sakura and Sarada.
The thing about it is that even though Kishimoto said the opposite, the more I re-read Naruto in the official translation, the more cynical Sakura seems to be almost as if Kishi did it on purpose.
I mean SOME of the stuff you can attribute to bad writing but when it’s:
1. Seeing your *best friend* dig a guy but actively pushing for said guy to INSULT her potentially leading to her wounded self esteem, making Sai misinterpret what he wanted to do (be nice) and perhaps ruining HIS self confidence that he can make friends all because you’re jealous that she likes the same guy you do????
2. Knowing another *friend* loves a guy enough to give her life for him and seeing this connection since you were 12 yet confessing to said guy behind her back so you can emotionally manipulate him like a puppet to giving up on a team mate that you never thought he would have a connection to as well.
3. Speaking of manipulating Naruto, she actually thought that she was so *irresistible* that Naruto couldn’t possibly have gotten Shikamaru, Kiba, Akamaru, Neji, Rock Lee and Choji nearly killed and trained with Jiraiya for 2 yrs for any other reason other than to get into her pants.
4. Seeing as how much Sasuke has grown Sakura still betrayed her team mates and helpers because she thought she can take on Sasuke alone by emotionally manipulating HIM into thinking he wanted her by his side because apparently SHE was his only emotional connection to Team 7 and “the old days”.
5. In the war, she knew she could’ve released her seal as soon as she got to the battlefield and saw the Ten Tail’s attack and gave the entire alliance a slug to keep them informed and heal them of which could’ve saved lives including Neji’s but only conveniently released it when Team 7 was back and she can show off in front of Sasuke.
6. While Team 7 was *together* she took a jab at her mentor and the only one who even cared enough to train her by flaunting the fact that she’s young which is apparently something that makes her *better* than Tsunade who btw the entire alliance thought was dead since everyone knew she was with the other kage fighting Madara yet Madara is right in front of them on the Ten Tails.
7. She never owns up to her cowardice and when faced with it she never does the right thing in relying on her team mates instead of trying to compete with them.
8. She never told Kakashi or anyone about her moment of cowardice that doomed the whole world by refusing to destroy the rinnegan Madara was after when Obito repeatedly told her to do so and even explained what would happen if she didn’t. Apparently she “caught up to her team mates” but can’t even admit when she made a mistake.
9. The 2nd time she refused to admit her own cowardice she insisted on being the leader of Team 7 by having Naruto and Sasuke “follow her lead” when again, those 2 are clearly above her level and mind you, at this point she did witness their incredible new sage powers yet she expects her little sannin-kage level powers to still rival them.
10. She NEVER stops moping and sulking whenever she’s insulted a bit....its not even insulting its telling the truth yet she never tries to think of a way that she can be useful in her own way. Even the chakra for Obito’s transportation thing that saved Sasuke was Obito’s idea.
11. Not once but TWICE there’s been instances where Sakura thought more about her *love* for Sasuke than the state of the entire world. One was obviously when her rushing Madara plan failed and the second was when she burst out in a confession after Sasuke said he would destroy Konoha and kill her master.
12. She’s still shitty to Naruto and has been throughout the war, from hitting him when he was injured to calling his hokage dream “stupid” even AFTER he became the village hero to never thanking him for saving her and instead, sulked about Sasuke not seeming to care about her.
13. Even in the novels, she basically abandons her children’s hospital job to chase after Sasuke or rather his impostor and later does it again when he didn’t come back for her.
14. She left Karin with the implication that they were friends and she was Sarada’s godmother even though Sarada doesn’t know a thing about her and Sakura is likely taking the credit for giving her her prescription glasses that Karin even makes sure are updated.
15. Whenever Sarada brings up her *weird* marriage she either sulks or gets extremely violent (which I’ll touch on later) even towards her own child.
16. Even in the games, she spars with 2 genin only to throw out her back and insists a 12 year old Boruto should carry her 30+ year old ass home.
17. She throws her daughter under the bus by apologizing to Sasuke even though he was the one (and he admits this) that chose to abandon his family and Sarada is not at fault for wanting to know about her absent father.
18. In the Gaiden manga, Sakura is at the kage summit with Sasuke yet she never asks him to come home to see their child even once and apparently hid the meeting from Sarada.
19. In the Gaiden anime, she keeps so much away from Sarada including banning the use of her sharingan which is an Uchiha birthright that if used correctly would give Sarada the protection and skill she needs to survive as a ninja but instead she wants her to just study HER way of fighting so she can be just as useless on the battlefield as her mother.
20. As previously mentioned, Sakura insists on being violent even into her late teens and upper 30s. These times include
a. Physically assaulting Kiba when her manipulation of Naruto doesn’t go her way
b. Physically assaulting an INJURED Naruto when he annoys her a bit
c. Using a battle ready punch to scare her child into silence when she says something she doesn’t like which yeah, a child should be able to make an adult ninja (who should be trained in not letting their emotions get to them especially from a fucking child) THAT angry
You can’t help but see Sakura as a half-malicious character.
