"Stay Gold, Dude, Stay Gold" -- This was the OG bandom dissertation and the (comparatively) huge response it got was what made me keep writing them. It analyzes how Hey Chris quoted from The Outsiders in his open letter to Pete during their big fight, and it's like this very bittersweet and emotional moment in the book where one character is dying and telling his best friend to leave him and their world behind and go on and fulfill his higher destiny, and this gives the letter new context lol

"The Curious Case of Brent Wilson" -- Examines how the exit of the oft-forgotten first-booted member of Panic! would serve as the blueprint for how everyone left after, which usually involved severe drug issues and/or bizarre messaging from the band and/or financial/legal drama

"Two Men As God Has Made Us" -- Explores and analyzes "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison" and places its meaning within the broader context of Bert and Gerard's relationship

"The True* Origins of Panic! at the Disco"-- My magnum opus in the form of a 24 page dissertation on how Pete and Ryan met and their Palahniuk fixation, as well as how their relationship ended, along with some broader contexts regarding their fake meetcute story being rooted in misogyny and a corny prose poem at the end

"Pretty Girls Make Graves" -- The Smiths and Take This To Your Grave being kind of gay and misogynistic and both drawing from the same Jack Kerouac passage in the Dharma Bums which is also gay and misogynistic

Also the literal day after I posted that last one someone who knew Pete commented on it and then literal hours later my zine someHOW got asked to help cover the launch of PW and Mark Hoppus' record label and which i wrote and i wrote a full length editorial piece about their debut signing a bit afterwards so those are hyperlinked as well, I'm not sure if those two things are related or if my zine happened to be on some list by mistake, but I choose to believe they are like Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny because I had no business being told about something that serious lmfao

would you write suliet?

I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I don't think I'm someone who fully understands both characters enough to write about them. While I do like them, as separate characters and as a couple, I don't really see myself writing them.

I wrote Sawyer for the Christmas Secret Santa challenge thing that @obsessivedaydreamer and @myrenthenostalgic (two excellent suliet writers) put together and getting inside his head came as a very draining challenge to me and I'm still not entirely convinced he is in character. Juliet is even harder for me, because it's harder to grasp her intentions through the entirety of seasons 3 and 4, at least for me. It isn't until we get all the Dharma and the suliet stuff that she starts to be more consistent (damn lost writers). So I have a really hard time getting inside her head.

While the words might not come to me often, the characters I write about do. I can blink and know what they'd do that feels right and in character and viable. I can't do that with them. They don't come naturally to me.

Never say never, though. Maybe someday inspiration will strike and I'll write a fic. But I wouldn't get my hopes up lol

Hi!! I loved getting your message! I am a Suliet fan! It’s so fun meeting other fans especially because the fandom is small but mighty. I look forward to reading whatever you create for them.

My favorite thing about Suliet is their trust in one another. I love how they rely on and don’t give up on each other. Separately I really like Juliet’s initial stoicism which over time becomes warmer. I love how tough and smart she is. One of my favorite scenes is in season 5 when they are time traveling and she calls out the past Others for speaking Latin because she knows Latin and Sawyer is impressed. I also love that she calls him James. For Sawyer, my favorite aspect is his progression from a snarky asshole to the anti hero. I like that he has a secret warm heart and is willing to go above and beyond for those he loves. I also love how soft he is with her. Lastly, I like that Juliet knows everything about him but he has to work to get her to open up.

Some of my favorite fics are Redmancy and October by obsessivedaydreamer, anything by eponine119, and the Dharma years by bayloriffic. On fanfic.net I also really enjoyed Ghosts of LA by makealist.

I like softer fics or ones that explore an aspect of their relationship. I also like the dharma years to better understand their relationship. AUs are fine but I prefer on island.

Were you raised in any sort of religion?

How has your spiritual practice changed over the years?

I'm putting this behind a cut, because my answer is kind of long. I like to be mindful of people's feed. But if any of my followers are interested in my spiritual history, click and read-on!

No, I wasn't raised in any particular religion. Before the age of five there was a church within walking distance from my house. And often on Sundays I would go to Sunday School there. My parents didn't take me. I wanted to go. I liked the stories and the arts and crafts. So sometimes I'd walk myself or sometimes my sister and cousin would go too. One time when my sister and cousin went to Sunday school, I went into the big church and sat and listened to the sermon. (Again, this was all before the age of five and I was alone.) My strongest memory of the moment, was looking up at the rafters in the church… the church was God's house. And according to the preacher, God lived "up there". So I wondered if there was an invisible God in the rafters of the church watching me.

In July of 1976 we moved 50 miles away. And in this new town I still wanted to go to Sunday school. So occasionally one of my parents would take me to a nearby church. But that didn't last long. It was an inconvienence. We went camping a lot, or there were chores do to, or I wanted to play with my friends. That was the last time I went to church.

Another memory from childhood, probably around 6th grade - my aunt and uncle are religious. And they would give me childrens bibles for Christmas (I think I got three from them over the years). Anyhow, one Christmas the aunt took me into a back room of my grandparents house, turned off the lights, lit a candle, and we got on our knees and prayed. It was one of those, "Repeat after me things" - And she asked if I was ready and wanting to accept Jesus into my heart as my Lord and Savior. And really, I panicked. I felt very uncomfortable. My gut reaction was to flee. But I was a good kid, and I said yes. She was so excited for me. Afterwards she wanted me to go up to each family member (even my parents) and tell them, "I accepted Jesus into my heart!" I was so embarraseed. But I did it.

I have always been a seeker. Since childhood. I have always felt an affinity to martyrs, saviors, myths, and legends. It was 1980 (I was 9 years old) when I started feeling like I might be the reincarnation of Merlin or King Arthur. (I'm still not convinced I'm not. There's always the possibility.)

With Star Wars and Yoda, and the Beat authors like Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, I began investigating Buddhism in high school. Ram Dass and Alan Watts.

In college I took religious and philosophy classes. Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism. I began reading all the texts of worlds religions. And studing their history and leaders. Even things like Joseph Smith and Mormonism. Wicca. Druidism. Satanism.

I had a good friend who started attending classes at a Zen Buddhist temple. He was the first one who really sat me down and we meditated together. Actually, I worked at the library at the time and I had a key and knew the security password. So we broke into the library in the middle of the night and he walked me through a guided meditation together there.

When my marriage started falling apart, and we separated, my very first night alone with no kids or wife I was a wreck and had no idea what to do with myself. So I went to a Barnes and Noble book store. And I went to the section on Buddhism. And there I found the book "Dharma Punx" by Noah Levine. I started reading it there in the book store and I immediately connected to the author's story / history. We were the same age. And when I looked him up online, I saw he taught classes within walking distance from my work in Santa Monica.

And that was when I became a Buddhist. Noah became my Buddhist teacher and my mental health therapist all throughout my marriage crisis. I got very deep and involved in Noah's organization, "Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society." I arrived early and setup all the cushions, I was the greeter welcoming newcomers, we had a little book store with merchandise and I collected all the money. I had spent years there. I was taking classes to become a Buddhist teacher myself. And that was when I had a falling-out with Noah. I felt he was taking advantage of me, and he kept choosing other (new) people to become teachers and not me. Noah was very involved in the 12-step program and he was choosing people he worked with from there.

I changed teachers and spent a couple more years in Buddhist circles, before I stopped going altogether. Although I still follow the Buddhist principles, I wouldn't describe myself as actively practicing. But I do have a week-long silent meditation retreat planned for May.

Towards the end of my time in Buddhism, medical marijuana was legalized in California and I started taking it instead of Prozac. It helped a lot and there was no side effects like Prozac had. And with that lifestyle, my eyes were really opened to the New Age movement. That was when I started having really profound visions that rewired my understanding of the universe. And even after I stopped using marijuana in 2018 (because it gave me anxiety attacks) my mind had already been awakened so I could quickly get into those meditative states. I've been very involved in the New Age movement and have had wonderful magical experiences within it -- Things that defied the laws of physics and the known universe. I've traveled the world several times. I've met wonderful powerful people. I've meditated in magical places on every continent except Africa and Antarctica. I truly do believe that we are living at a time of great change, and we are all a part of it. This change was prophesized by Nostradamus.

And that is kind of where I am now, I consider myself a New Age Buddhist. But as you know, I am also currently in a 9-month program working with a teacher on magical pagan practices, doing rituals and meditations and kything and scrying and things. I am also a certified master reiki healer. I've also done work in the Akashic Records. I can see people's past lives. I have done distance healing. And I'm pretty sure I am becoming who I was always meant to be, who I have always been… a Merlin for a new age. 😉

Night of the Comet ☄️

So, I watched this movie last night on New Years Eve, which was a first time watch, and I’m going to have to say although it’s not the best film I’ve ever seen, I throughly enjoyed it. The aesthetic in this post apocalyptic film was my favorite thing about it, along with the fact that I could see myself in the main two girls characters.

As nerdy as I am and into science, I probably wouldn’t watch a comet (like this), cause I’ve seen so many movies that go this type of way, and I kinda get spidey scenes that certain things just might be a bad idea. I’d probably already be asleep when something like this happens to be honest. 😆

I didn’t stay up till midnight, cause I prefer sleep, and honestly, each day is a new day to start a new, so don’t feel bad if you make a resolution and fail. You can start over anytime. The tradition of New Years is great in a lot of ways, but don’t necessarily get upset if you didn’t have a kiss at midnight, or do all the things articles say to do. I will however not clean or do laundry today. Don’t want that kind of bad luck. I also had my dog pooping everywhere this morning at dawn, and a headache - so 2024 is off to a rocking start. Not forgetting to mention how foggy it was outside, but luckily there wasn’t a red haze.

Back to the movie analysis.

Soundtrack was nice, really loved the radio station set up, including the couch, and the neon lighting. I live for neon lighting, but I can’t do any strobes though.

I really think Stranger Things got some inspiration from this film as well, especially from the arcade game scene where Regina REG wanted to reclaim the spot of whoever DMK was, that took one of her places. Of course I love how DMK comes back in the end, but I won’t spoil that cuteness for you.

Basically both girls in the film (sisters) survive together in what is left of the world after everyone has been turned into dust or zombies.

They set out to find other people and meet Hector (another character) at the radio station. Then from Samantha getting on the radio and acting like a host, she gets a call from someone in some secret hideout. Which we then see those people who remind me of the Dharma Initiative doing all these weird blood dialysis experiments on survivors. Fun fact: I used to intern at a radio station for two years in college and had some sweet good times. I have a minor in journalism, so you can see why I am the way I am. Samantha is exactly my whole vibe when I currently podcast, and then.

My favorite scene in the film has to be the mall sequence, and as I’ve stated in previous posts, 80s mall vibes are just so cool. The sisters go on a shopping spree, while Girls Just Want To Have Fun plays. Then they have a shootout with some goth looking mall gang and use high heels as flying weapons. I’m all about that shit.

Needless to say the character Hector saves the day for the girls, is dressed up as Santa with flowers at one point, and everyone left finds family and love with a super cute ending. Go give it a watch and experience its mystique and allure that I haven’t fully disclosed, it’s so worth it. I’ve also added the Spotify link for the soundtrack below.

Do mesmo modo, hoje em dia, existem aqueles que são extremamente estúpidos e pensam, "Mulheres são nada mais do que objetos sexuais e provedoras de comida." Estas pessoas falham em considerar que esse tipo e pensamento resulta de visões distorcidas e erradas. As crianças de Buddha não deveriam ser assim. Há monges tolos, na China, que fazem o seguinte voto, 'Eu não irei olhar para uma mulher por incontáveis renascimentos no porvir.' Em qual Dharma isto está fundamentado? Qual é o terrível demérito em ser uma mulher? Qual é o grande mérito em ser um homem? Há muitos homens maus, e muitas boas mulheres. Se tu desejas ouvir o Dharma e pôr um fim ao teu sofrimento e tumulto, esqueças de tais coisas como a ideia de distinção entre mulheres e homens. Monges que tem aversão às mulheres estão profundamente inebriados com o vinho da arrogância, e suas palavras de desprezo são palavras de loucura induzida pela intoxicação. Seres humanos e deuses jamais deverão levar a sério estas atitudes.
