Hey, I have a question. I don't know if I saw it on your blog or another, but someone mentioned that Jam had agreed to do real kisses early on. Do you know if it's true? It just made me curious
If I recall correctly, there was a post at one point (not by me) comparing Sam’s kisses in The Newsreader vs. the Loustat kisses. The Tim/Dale/Helen/Dale kisses were clearly choreographed and very much acting kisses, whereas the Loustat kisses were….*gestures vaguely*….something else. Something more raw and intimate and uninhibited, but that’s a testament to the bond between Sam and Jacob and the level of trust and comfort between them. Eric has also talked about Sam and Jacob going “all in” with the physical aspects of their love.
As I’ve said numerous times, the things required of the Loustat relationship simply would not have worked had it not been for Sam and Jacob genuinely falling (platonically) in love with each other and having this deep connection and friendship along with mutual respect and trust.

Has anyone ever spent a huge amount of time just watching old Jam interviews because they are absolutely amazing and beautiful and have the cutest friendship? They are legit soulmates and hearing all the wonderful things they have to say about each other, as well as the way the cast and showrunners talk about their bond just drowns me in all the feels. No, I believe the hug is very real….in more ways than one.
Not only do I think this is truly happening, but it’s also raw. This is Loustat with all of their armor off, their daggers down, their hearts and souls stripped bare as never before. I think this hug might actually be the first glimpse of the real Loustat not filtered through someone’s POV or hazy memories or biases or agendas. This is them, clinging to each other, needing to feel each other, and allowing all the hurt and relief and grief and desperation and overwhelming, all-consuming love to just flow out of them. They are home in this moment.
I don’t know the exact context, no, but it’s a testament to the power of Jacob and Sam in that so much emotion and profound, telltale meaning can be gleaned from a spilt-second scene.
