A "gamergate" (pronounced like "gamete") is a mated worker ant with the potential to become a queen of the colony. This is believed to be how early ant colonies worked before the physical differences between queens and workers became more pronounced in the majority of ant species. Diacamma, Harpegnathos and Ophthalmopone genus ants still have this ability.
This is the *only* significant meaning the word "gamergate" has had and will ever have.

March 26, 2024 - Black-cowled Saltator (Saltator nigriceps)
Found in the Andes in southwestern Ecuador and northwestern Peru, these birds in the tanager family live in and around mountain forests and scrub. Foraging alone or in pairs and sometimes joining mixed-species flocks, they are thought to eat seeds, insects, and berries, like the closely related Golden-billed Saltator, though their diet has not been studied. Nothing is known about their breeding behavior, but it may be similar to that of their close relatives which build cup-shaped nests in shrubs.
