The American Clipper USS Rossie and British ship, Princess Amelia engaging, on September 16, 1812.
"Commodore Joshua Barney in the Baltimore-built Clipper Schooner USS Rossie of 14 guns and 120 men sailed on September 7. On the 9th, a British squadron of 3 ships vainly tried to overhaul him and, on the 12th, a British frigate chased him for 6 hours and then gave up. On the 16th, ROSSIE fell in with the British ship, PRINCESS AMELIA, an armed trader, and for one hour there was a steady combat. The Rossie was badly cut up in sails and rigging but her hull and spars escaped. She had 7 men hurt, one severely. The PRINCESS AMELIA was badly cut up alow and aloft and had her captain, sailing master, and a seaman killed and 7 wounded before she surrendered."

I VICINI SCOMODI
Nell'estate del 1938, in fondo al viale più conosciuto di Riccione c’era una villa in mattoni rossi che dava sulla spiaggia. Il proprietario era Nissan Matatia, ebreo originario di Corfù. Era riuscito ad acquistare l'edificio grazie ai guadagni delle sue attività, tra le quali una pellicceria con sede a Forlì, all'attuale civico 3 di Piazza Saffi. A Forlì era nata anche sua figlia Camelia, che quell’estate aveva 17 anni e come tutta la famiglia fu investita delle leggi razziali: espulsione da scuola, chiusura dell’attività del padre, trasferimento, arresto e il 6 dicembre ’43 la deportazione ad Auschwitz. Anche la casa in mattoni rossi non si salvò, tra minacce e pressioni del fascio locale, Nissim fu costretto a svenderla per pochi spicci. Il motivo? La villa ottocentesca a fianco, nota come Villa Margherita, era stata acquistata da Rachele Guidi, moglie di Mussolini, per farne la residenza estiva di famiglia, e per il Duce non era accettabile avere dei vicini di casa di razza ebraica. Così, Nissim e i Matatia furono costretti ad andarsene. Morirono tutti nelle camere a gas di Auschwitz. Si salvò soltanto Nino, fratello di Camelia, perché le SS apprezzavano il suono della sua fisarmonica mentre accompagnava i deportati alla morte.
Dopo la guerra, Villa Margherita divenne proprietà dello Stato, fu sede di un ristorante e si pensò anche di demolirla per lasciare spazio a un parco, ma non se ne fece nulla. Negli anni ’90, il sindaco Daniele Imola, di centrosinistra, la rese sede di mostre ed esposizioni ma le cambio il nome: tra lo sconcerto e le proteste, Villa Margherita diventò Villa Mussolini. Per l’inaugurazione fu invitato Romano, figlio del Duce, e la parlamentare Alessandra Mussolini telefonò entusiasta per congratularsi.
Così, ancora oggi, abbiamo da una parte un edificio storico al quale è stato cancellato il nome per sostituirlo con quello di un dittatore, e dall’altra la parole di Camelia Matatia, uccisa dalle leggi razziali volute dal suo vicino di casa. Una lettera, inviata al fidanzato, fu gettata dal camion diretto al lager e solo per caso, raccolta da un passante, giunse al destinatario. Chissà se l’ex sindaco di Riccione l’ha mai letta.

DEVCON ( Deluxe ) Generations LEGACY EVOLUTION *G1*
Nonostante alcuni passi falsi o personaggi magari ridondanti, la trilogia Legacy sta anche ripescando personaggi misconosciuti che erano anni, se non decenni, che aspettavano di avere una versione giocattolo ufficiale, come il buon DEVCON, l'Autobot cacciatore di taglie visto nel solo episodio della stagione 2 G1 "The Gambler".
Il nostro come ROBOT ( e pure poi come velivolo, come vedremo poi ) nel cartone aveva un look da cybertroniano che anticipava i personaggi protagonisti del film del 1986, figlio quindi dello stesso character designer Floro Dery, con forme morbide, quasi monocromatico, nessu avanzo di alt mode e… un laser sopra la testa.
E' stato quindi conseguenziale fare il modellino come un ampio remold del Blurr SS, e per ampio intendo che i due hanno in comune solo i piedi, le cosce e la parte interna del busto, ma solo PARTE della trasformazione, ma su questa ci torno dopo, ovviamente.
Devcon ha una bella struttura antropomorfa, con il giusto numero di dettagli scolpiti ed è fedelissimo sia come design che cromaticamente, a parte i pugni blu anzichè bianco / argento come cosce, bicipiti ed addome, mentre il resto è appunto di un bel blu con piedi e parte delle tibie in giù rosse.
Non previsti dal glabro settei del cartone ci sono un alettone rosso dietro gli avambracci ed una zainata con quello che sarà il muso del velivolo, ma nulla di troppo fastidioso.
Come arma ha il laser argentato da avambraccio come si vedeva in tv, più due reattori rossi che serviranno sempre per l'alt mode, che possono essere usati come ulteriori bocche di fuoco per il suddetto laser ( grazie ai fori laterali di questo ) o appunto come razzi da sistemare sui soliti ( e come sempre graditissimi ) fori per armi da post WfC, come dietro i polpacci o sulla zainata ( oltre che ai lati di spalle ed avambracci ), oppure, ancora meglio, li si può nascondere ufficiosamente dentro le gambe inferiori vuote del nostro, coprendo così quei vuoti magari fastidiosi che si intravedono verso le caviglie, e appunto togliendo alla vista i razzi non previsti nel robot del cartone.
Infine, ha le solite articolazioni da Generations d'oggigiorno, a parte la rotazione dei pugni per via della trasformazione, ma, anticipandola un po', le mani appunto ruotano all'interno degli avambracci rivelando dei reattori che volendo possono essere usati come ulteriori bocche di fuoco.
Ed appunto a parte questa mossa nelle braccia, che restano quindi fisse senza tutti i passaggi che si vedevano in Blurr, la TRASFORMAZIONE è la stessa del velocista Autobot, con le gambe che si ripiegano inglobando le cosce e la parte appesa sulla schiena che si solleva "mangiandosi" la testa del robot, con i razzi che vanno sistemati nella parte posteriore.
Il VELIVOLO CYBERTRONIANO anche lui è fedele a quello visto in TV, ed il problema potremmo dire che è tutto qui, nel senso che come mezzo ha un design non eccezionale, risultando quasi un incrocio fra gli alt mode di Cyclonus e Scourge, con le differenze nel fatto che si intravede l'addome a metà del velivolo e che i moduli laterali ( le braccia del robot ) dovevano essere un po' più prolungate verso indietro.
Ma appunto a prescindere come jet interstellare o quel che è ha una forma abbozzata, ma non così malvagia, per carità, ma il difetto ancor più a monte è a mio avviso la mancanza di una cabina di pilotaggio degna di questo nome, che per quanto magari non sia imprenscindibile in questo tipo di mezzi, per giunta alieni, all'occhio di noi terrestri è una caratteristica che ci aspettiamo di vedere e che definisce un velivolo.
Alla fine, quindi, è l'occhio di chi guarda che deve abituarsi a questa mezzo alieno, appunto, laddove in teoria il cockpit dovrebbe essere il pannello argento con le 4 stringhe rosse, ad onor di quel che si vede nel cartone.
Dopo che non ci si fa più troppo caso a questo design strambo ma accurato, si può apprezzare anche qui i dettagli della scultura e la giocabilità data dai numerosi fori per armi come sui propulsori laterali / braccia, i due fori sotto il velivolo, magari per sistemare i razzi rossi in altre posizioni, e quello sotto la punta del velivolo apposito per l'arma argentata, che ricordiamo a sua volta ha due fori laterali.
Infine, un bel robot, una trasformazione nella media ed un alt mode magari dal design ostico, ma il più fedele possibile al modello visto in tv, così come alla fine del Blurr SS ne è sì un derivato ma con davvero così poco in comune da non far pesare l'eventuale ridondanza della struttura e parte della trasformazione in comune, quindi una bella aggiunta alla collezione e finalmente un ( degno ) modellino per questo personaggio dopo quasi 40 anni dalla sua apparizione.

SAN LUCIO I, PAPA
Elegido en 253, fue obligado al exilio. Al volver a Roma, se opone al rigor de los novacianos que rechazan la readmisión en la Iglesia de los cristianos que habían adorado ídolos para evitar la persecución. Lucio establece su reintegración a la comunidad después de las prácticas penitenciales.

Elogio: En Roma, en la vía Apia, en el cementerio de Calixto, sepultura de san Lucio, papa, sucesor de Cornelio, que sufrió el exilio por la fe de Cristo y, en tiempos angustiosos, fue eximio confesor de la fe, actuando con moderación y prudencia.
Al principio del pontificado de Lucio, el emperador Galo continuó la persecución iniciada por Decio. El Papa fue desterrado a un sitio del que los anales no conservan memoria, pero el destierro duró poco tiempo ya que Galo murió ese mismo año, y le sucedió Valeriano, más favorable a los cristianos. A su vuelta, Lucio fue aclamado por el pueblo, que salió a recibirle triunfalmente. Con esa ocasión san Cipriano le escribió una carta de felicitación, diciéndole que no por haber sido preservado por Dios de la muerte, como los jóvenes lo fueron de las llamas del horno, ha perdido la palma del martirio. San Cipriano añade: «No cesamos de ofrecer sacrificios y oraciones a Dios Padre y a su Hijo Jesucristo para darle gracias y suplicarle que, puesto que da la perfección en todo, perfeccione también en ti la gloriosa corona de tu confesión. Tal vez al destierro no fue sino para mostrarte que tu gloria debe brillar a los ojos de todos, pues es conveniente que la víctima, que debe a sus hermanos ejemplo de virtud y fe, sea sacrificada delante del pueblo». En otra carta que escribió al Papa Esteban, san Cipriano dice que san Lucio condenó a los herejes novacianos que rehusaban la absolución y la comunión a los pecadores arrepentidos.
Según Eusebio, san Lucio sólo ocupó la cátedra pontifical ocho meses. Durante muchos siglos se lo tuvo como «martirizado en la persecución de Valeriano», pero es positivamente cierto que murió antes de que empezara dicha persecución y es muy poco probable que haya muerto martirizado. El cronista del año 354 no nombra a san Lucio en la «depositio martyrum», sino en la «depositio episcoporum», en tanto que los restos de la inscripción, descubierta por De Rossi en las catacumbas, no mencionan su martirio.
Se dice que en Bolonia se conservan algunas reliquias de san Lucio. En la catedral de Roeskilde, cerca de Copenhague, se veneró durante largo tiempo la cabeza de este Papa, que era el patrono de la ciudad. Pero muy probablemente, tanto las reliquias de Dinamarca como las de Bolonia, pertenecen a otros dos santos del mismo nombre. San Lucio fue sepultado en la catacumba de San Calixto; pero sus restos fueron trasladados más tarde a la iglesia de Santa Cecilia, por orden de Clemente VIII, y ahí se conservan todavía.

As for the movie, those black leather opera gloves that Charlotte Rampling wears in The Night Porter, I want to wear them just once! They match the SS hat so well!
In TV dramas, I like the shocking pink satin opera glove worn by Portia de Rossi in Arrested Development. I wish Portia would wear opera gloves more in her personal life as an out lesbian.

By Iacopo Mutascio MIN READ 6 The history of AS Roma, one of the most successful football clubs in Italy, dates back to 1927. The club was founded through a merger of three local teams: Roman FC, SS Alba-Audace, and Fortitudo-Pro Roma SGS. Since its inception, Roma has become an integral part of the city's identity and has a passionate fan base.
Roma's early years were marked by mixed success, with the club fluctuating between the top and second divisions. However, in the 1941-42 season, Roma won its first Serie A title under the guidance of coach Alfredo Foni.
This success was followed by a period of relative stability, with Roma consistently finishing in the top half of the table.
