thinking about how for one glorious, horrible session of third life, skizzleman was basically the grim freakin reaper.

thinking about how in session 7, he got eight whole seconds into his episode before declaring that he had to kill somebody today, that today someone would die.

and he did kill somebody. two somebodies. two red lives.

y’know skizz is the only life series member to have ONLY gotten permakills? everyone else has gotten at least one kill on someone other than a red life.

thing about it is, skizz was very, very bloodthirsty that episode, but despite that bloodlust, he actually arguably spared as many as he slew. after jimmy’s death, scar was still relatively cornered in that same box, and while the rest of the red army did tell him that it was the banner or death, skizz was the one to rephrase that to “give up the banner and you get to live”, which was an opportunity that scar took to change the situation from Combat (a fight he would lose) to Negotiation (a fight he can, and did, win). after cleo’s death, he even more explicitly spares bdubs, allows him to go because, unlike cleo, bdubs didn’t attack ren.

it’s not just the murders that make me describe him as the grim freakin reaper, it’s the long-term effects. obviously the permakills stay permadead for the rest of third life. but the folks he spared came second and third in duration of being alive, and the guy who won the season was the guy who ultimately killed him. for one glorious, horrible session, skizz determined who lives and dies, not entirely to his own benefit.

and THEN. so obviously the permakills stay permadead for the rest of the season. and cleo’s already technically undead, so uh. bottom text.

but then there’s jimmy. the guy whose failed bomb defusal set both himself and skizz to red life, the guy who skizz was hanging out with during scar’s death, the first permadeath of third life and of all other life serieses since. i could make a pretty convincing argument that jimmy is still feeling the consequences of the arrow skizz put through his him, seeing as uh, he’s still permadying first in life series to this day. grim freakin reaper. long-term consequences.

and this is a kind of ridiculous tangent to go off on about someone who is generally just a silly goofy guy who is unflinchingly loyal to his friends, but like, it’s also true.

it’s like. skizz caused the first two permadeaths of third life and then became the third. we’re all just normal about that?

catching up decked out stream and I just realised Jimmy probably didn't want to choose Etho as he thought he will do terribly anyway so he wanted a good deck and mentor to go to someone who can do better

and Tango wanted everyone to have fun so he wanted Jimmy and Skizz to get good cards and best mentors to get the most out of the experience

having a normal one watching Bdubs lim life tonight and thinking about how when Bdubs betrayed Tango in last life, Skizz told Tango that for the sake of team best he had to go and forgive him.

But when Bdubs boogey kills Skizz in lim life before team ties is even really formed, Skizz is allowed to have it out for Bdubs for almost the entire first half of the season, even when the clockers ally with them and it would've been easier to let sleeping dogs lie.

Tango, the perpetually extraneous and undervalued member of his alliances...the too often shoved aside and betrayed...being told it was his duty to the team to forgive bdubs and move on....

But no one—especially not Tango—tried to tell Skizz to let it go.

#and like. now im thinking about how no one is ever really ride or die for tango. ever #people are allied with him but no one PRIORITIZES him #as a team rancher fan myself id be tempted to argue Jimmy is but you can just as easily point to how that was in a way self serving #and I dont just mean with the soulmate mechanic so worrying about tango was worrying about himself for jimmy #but i mean it in the way of jimmy was so worried about tango because #jimmy was worried about HIMSELF being the thing that hindered him and dragged him down #whihc is not to say that jimmy didnt also worry about tango #but it is to say that the dl rule set played heavily on jimmys insecurities and fears #he was most of the time worried about himself. Jimmy may have a bad memory but he is a CLEVER and hardworking boy

who pays very close attention to how other youtubers do things, and takes notes, and works so hard, and now he has 810k subscribers because he knows how to do it.

If anyone wants my spreadsheet just lmk. my data mostly came from the youtube wiki and MaxData's visualization of new life smp members' subs numbers. oh, i'll include that!

Jimmy was at 609k when new life started in may 27. he made a (lovely!) pink house.

Twenty one days later he's gained 201,000 subs.

Between cpk and pix now probably, having jumped ahead of oli & pearl.

Y'all when people talk about jimmy being dumb, watch and think how much is an atrocious memory, and how long is not being quick to understand things. If he settles in and works at it! If he's in a group event in mcc and not individual! If he has a strong team captain in mcc who he can listen to! (he's said the last one is how he succeeds).

Jimmy can fucking do it, just in his own way - and he doesn't care to put a lot of effort into learning some things that some viewers want. As I barely care about minecraft, I do have an interesting perspective here! <3

Jimmy can't just get by on his minecraft skills plus his winning smile, comedic timing, charisma, and skill at social rapport and interpersonal... okay I've made it sound like a lot but he has some brains. Those brains just don't know the recipe for... things I also don't care about.

And then top 3 being Martyn, Scott, and Impulse. I honestly can't say which of them would win. If Scott's still got the most time, it'll probably be Martyn (I think he and Scott would team up to kill Impulse and then Scott would give his time to Martyn, or Impulse would kill Scott and Martyn would kill him). If the rest of the server has fucking focused on taking Scott down (PLEASE) and they're all on the same level, I think Impulse could take them out, especially if one of them is particularly low and gives the other their time in hopes they win.
