ohhh i really should write a fic for it. it's an AU i'm playing with, i can write a little about it here. uhh cw nsft 18+ drugs and sex

In this AU (i've been calling it tequila sunrise lol) Harry stopped just short of his tequila sunset bender at Martinaise, succeeded a crucial volition check, and made it to the crime scene sober-ish and on time with Jean. So this starts on Saturday instead of Monday, they keep their Coupris, the waterlock never gets damaged so they can go to the fishing village immediately and Sylvie is still working at the Whirling.

No-bender Harry is still a hypercompetent detective with encyclopaedic knowledge of Revacholian history, most RCM officers, and entroponetics. His political leanings are more hustler than anything else right now; he's a sleazy superstar cop and Jean is re-embracing his "heterosexual life partner" after seeing Harry come back from the abyss intact.

They both did some preliminary research on Kim and his team. They were already planning on "winning" the pissing contest against P57, but when they see Kim show up *alone* they both agree they're going to specifically gang up on this guy, maybe recruit him to 41.

Jean and Harry's dynamic is in a manic phase right now where they're frighteningly in sync with each other. Like, by the end of day 1 they've gotten the body down (Judit takes the body to P41 Processing), found the bullet, narrowed down possible shooter locations to the island, identified Korty as a merc connected to Krenel and arrested Klaasje. Kim's not useless (he's the one who clocks Korty and knows more details about the strike and the Debardeau union), but he's definitely sprinting physically and mentally to keep up with these two maniacs. Worth noting they are also both on speed lol.

Just like in the game, they all have a gay little debrief at the end of day one. Harry and Jean crank up the charm at Kim, praising him for doing his research into the local union and picking up on the dynamics between various parties like the Hardy boys. Normally Kim would put some walls up, but he's *exhausted* after such a busy day, and frankly he hasn't gotten laid in months, so he lets himself relax and flirts back. They Don't hook up that night specifically to give Kim blue balls <3 Harry and Jean are even kinda handsy with each other in front of Kim to tease him. So the next day Kim is feeling extra ambitious about showing off for these idiots. He finds Ruby's hideout, they arrest Ruby (Jean grabs her before she can pull her gun), Kim rules her out as a suspect and they head to the island after sweeping the fishing village. They find Dros, get his spiel, arrest him and Judit brings him in while the trecomptage hang back to tie up loose ends and discuss their joint report on the case.

and by discuss the report i mean they fuck nasty. it def started out with Harry and Jean trying to bully Kim in a fun dom way, but Kim was pretty game for whatever they suggested lmao. They had already paid for their rooms for another night so they figure they might as well hang here in Martinaise and party together; not too hard-- Harry sticks to speed and pyrholidon. Jean scored some weed from Rosemary and they get Kim a little stoned. A very dark part of Kim laughs about how he's turned this murder investigation into a sexy holiday for himself. Harry and Jean fail to recruit Kim because he's intimidated 💔 but he'll be sure to visit Jamrock often to collaborate some more.

Judit Posting: A Guide to Revolutionary Spy Judit

Okay so this is a meme AU that has a fun connection to Revolutionary Girl Utena, Death Note, and could potentially be an interesting way to explore Judit’s gender and communist leanings.

Now this crack theory places a LOT of importance on names, as many crack theories do. In this case, it’s an interpretation of Judit as inspired by the Biblical Judith, who was “the widow who charmed her way into an enemy general's tent and decapitated them, saving her country.”

@jeanbinary riffed on this concept and landed on the meme idea of Judit infiltrating the RCM for the express purpose of killing Ptolemy Pryce for the side of the revolutionary communards aka for Revachol. I mean, she’s pretty squarely on the Communists’ side, and she even says as much to Harry.

"Harry's our man, he'll pull through -- and when he does, he'll side with Revachol." "Understood." Gottlieb returns to the list. "Minot?" "Of course."

YOU - "Are you by any chance..." (Lean in real close.) "*working class*?" HORSE-FACED WOMAN - "Well... raising two children and half a husband on a patrol officer's wage. Yes, I guess I am working class." YOU - "Do you want to rise up and tear down the entire fucking system with me?" HORSE-FACED WOMAN - "No." She sighs. "Okay. Sort of. But not with you. Like you are now. Don't take this the wrong way..."

Now, we of course know that Pryce is planning for his own revolution, aka Le Retour, but the RCM is considered under the thumb/authority/whims of the Moralintern. So although it may seem like Pryce and Judit should be on the same side, it makes sense that there could be some disconnect or mistrust between Pryce and the other revolutionaries, hence a spy. (Though I’m not quite clear what demographic this separate cell of revolutionaries Judit is working for could be made up of).

Now the fun/hook of this AU would be the Death Note-esque political mind games of 4D chess between Revolutionary Spy Judit and (another crack theory) Moralintern Spy Trant Heidelstam. Imagine them duking it out over the heart of the RCM and the meaning of Justice in the break room while Jean and Harry are too busy bickering to care or notice. (There’s more here if you want to laugh).

She’s winning, in my heart. She’s got the whole precinct wrapped around her finger with her mediating and level headed manner, fooling even the player about her true intentions.

With Death Note out of the way, what about Revolutionary Girl Utena? Well this connection is another tenuous name connection, where Revolutionary Spy Judit sounds like Revolutionary Girl Utena. And Girl Child Communism and Girl Child Revolution.

But I also think the themes and narratives of Utena grafts beautifully onto Disco Elysium and Judit Minot.

For one, Utena as a character is all about a woman subverting her role as a “Princess” (powerless woman, needs protection, but giving power to who owns her through marriage) in favor of becoming a “Prince” (Heroic man who saves princesses). She’s a tomboy fighting amongst men.

Utena intentionally highlights the dissonance between being a woman and trying to act like a prince — namely that, even though you yourself are subverting the system by gaining power as a woman, you’re still doing so by being complicit to a system that defines women as powerless. It’s a double whammy: You can never be a “true” prince because he is defined as a man. And “Prince” itself as a concept is fundamentally oppressive and should not be striven towards.

Replace Utena with Judit and “Prince” with “Cop,” and the parallels jump out.

Does Judit struggle with the dissonance between her gender and her role as a cop the way Utena does with her role as a prince? Embodying the roles of masculine heroes that don't actually protect women? Why did she choose to become one? Was it girlboss feminism (becoming a prince)? A yearning to uphold the ideals cops represent in spite of the ways they fail (becoming heroic)? Or does she never struggle with that baggage due to her nature as a spy disloyal to the RCM? In that case, her baggage could then lie in the question: Does the end justify the means?

Which brings me to another parallel: The Pale and the concept of “revolution” in Utena.

Now in Utena’s English speaking analysis circles, many have fully taken advantage of the second definition of “revolution” — a return to the beginning position! A cycle.

In the world of Utena, Ohtori Academy is repeating endlessly in a time loop, trapping the future of the students in the past, with many of the ‘students’ actually being the echoes of past students long gone (as in dead). Never to grow up.

Much like the way the Pale is an apocalyptic blending of the past and future. Or “After the world, the pale -- after the pale, the world again.”

Thus, we must connect Judit to the Pale! Does Judit view the world with the nihilism that dooms it to destruction and repetition? To the Pale? If she is not torn up about gender and cophood, maybe then her true struggle will be imagining the world after the Revolution and how'd she'd fit into it, aka the nihilism of the Pale.

But it’s more than that, it’s wondering if the ends of successfully implementing a Revolution will justify the means? Of infiltrating and decapitating Pryce and Harry and Jean or the others?

Which brings me to another piece of Judit Lore: Joseph Mills.

Joseph Mills was Judit’s old partner, who you can discover by reading the MURDER IN THE HOOKAH PARLOR case. And he was an idiot and a misogynist.

“No, he was awful. Awful sense of humour too. The worst jokes you've ever heard. Really rapey.”

The case file is even a misnomer—there was no murder being investigated! Mills spent months investigating a ‘murder’ that PreAmnesia!Harry identifies as a dumb accident in less than a minute.

However, it’s what happened to Mills that’s relevant to Revolutionary Spy Judit.

“Beaten to death by a throng of Villalobos gang-members when him and his partner J. M. (only initials mentioned) answered a call one night. It's a sad story and it isn't really represented in *your* case files. Stop stalling and get to the MURDER AT THE HOOKAH PARLOUR.”

So, in canon, it’s implied that Judit was forced to watch her partner get beaten to death by gangsters, with @geeneelee (who I grabbed this backstory from) speculating that the reason she joined the shitty 41st Precinct 2 months ago is because past Harry actually helped her with the fallout of the case. Highlighted by her quiet support of Harry after his disastrous call to the precinct:

"We must help him. Minot looks down at her neatly polished black shoes. There is a quiet firmness to her voice when she speaks.”

"I just know we can't give up on him when he's at his weakest. He wouldn't..."

Imagine if, however, the death of her partner was not something poor Judit witnessed, but rather something she helped orchestrate as a revolutionary spy? Hence her leaving her precinct for her savior’s precinct — it shakes the trail of suspicion if she's murdering too many partners by moving across precincts with a plausible move. The RCM is not especially well known for communicating or cooperating across precincts.

Just imagine it — the sick pleasure/relief she must have felt at seeing her misogynist coworker get what was coming to him. Mixed with the shame/horror of feeling pleasure at seeing a man get beaten to death.

Do the ends justify these means? Maybe it doesn’t, for Judit.

Maybe all it does is worsen her self-destructiveness, worsen the doomed nihilism she feels, contributing contributing to the Pale. Even as she fights for the girl child communism, she will struggle to see herself in the 'after' of the revolution she's fighting for because the revolution is asking her to bloody her hands in its name. Would she deserve salvation?

I mean she's literally forced to be a cop for the good of the cause. ACAB. The hypocrisy of killing cops while being one. Do the ends justify the means?

I think it would complicate things for Judit even more if old Harry really did manage to successfully comfort her after her murder setup (which to Harry looked like grief over a partner, but to her was the inner turmoil of an assassin). It wasn’t just a good excuse to transfer to the 41st, she genuinely was touched by Double Yefreitor Harry Du Bois.

Imagine doing it all over again to the 41st Precinct, stabbing the person who comforted you in your time of need in the back.

Anyways, this AU has a happy ending. Pryce is genuinely working towards Le Retour and is NOT loyal to the Moralintern, so as long as Harry can convince her/the revolutionaries that they’re on the same side, she won’t have to bring out the “mysterious accident” card. This also recontextualizes all of Judit’s more supportive comments about Harry.

“You haven't been drinking, she thinks. So maybe this time...”

YOU - "Do you want to rise up and tear down the entire fucking system with me?" HORSE-FACED WOMAN - "No." She sighs. "Okay. Sort of. But not with you. Like you are now. Don't take this the wrong way..."

She’s giving him the benefit of the doubt. She’s trying to look for proof, any proof, that Harry’s on their side, that he’s good or getting better, so she won’t have to justify his murder to herself.

Anyways, I think Judit meeting Ulixes in this AU would be hilarious.

Goals for 2024

Lately, I’ve been in a mental slump, but I want to change that. 2023 was a year of major setbacks which is why I need to work hard for 2024. I need to get back on track and catch up with my peers and make my younger self proud. So right now, I’ve been preparing preparations and experimenting with routines and just hyping myself up. I want to achieve these and have a plan that isn’t that much effort but effective and efficient. They will be mistakes but I need to accept and push my self through it because in the end, it’s only you who can do the things you want and your life/situation can be changed.

Grades

My grades aren’t up to standard that I’ve set for myself and I appear to be slacking off in class—especially math. I failed my Math final. So I would like to change this. I want to concentrate more in school and because of that I’ve looked at who/what was distracting me and decided to cut it off. I’ve left platforms like Discord (still kept instagram, YouTube, and tumblr to document my progress (my biggest showcase of what I could do— my channel is @scarasun) I’ve also cut off a bunch of distracting friends (or ones that I know I can’t get work done with them) and I’ve been training myself lately (with push-ups/curlups for PE and just relearning Math. I want to show more effort in my craft.

Habits and Mentality

I want to create a better work ethic (or have the work ethic I used to have at my rigorous Catholic school) and work to complete my goals. I want to implement routines that I feel would suit better for me and just care for myself. During 2023, I didn’t care about my well-being and that end up becoming sick a lot. Right now, I’ve educated myself in hair care and also skincare and work to achieve better results. I also want to have effort in my appearance (I used to didn’t care if I looked bad) so I’m pushing myself. Lately I’ve been pushing myself beyond my limits with all of my hobbies. I’ve been practicing on my piano more so I can complete my RCM exams and be on track (I was supposed to complete my exam during late 2022 and early 2023).

Lately, I’m rewinding and twisting my mentality to be more positive and being more accepting of mistakes but to push through. I told myself that pain is alright, and sometimes it will help you complete your goals but it shouldn’t be immense pain and you should feel discomfort. I told myself that emotions are fine but you have to push through and that it’s fine to feel and accept that your situation is what you make of it.

Business

After all our preparations like: setting up the Etsy, setting up the socials, and setting up the website— I want to open my business with my friends (the co owners) with an official release in April but with a soft release in late January (we’re taking commissions right now please dm us at @tinyheartsscozm, tinyheartssco on instagram, or at [email protected]

I want to get the business running and maybe be a part of an event during Mid to Late 2024. Right now, I’ve been crocheting a lot just for stock (but not too much). I’m also creating patterns/designs right now as well and will post. Though, I need to learn how to take breaks and create a balance

Preparations are not fully finished and I wished to test it more. Also, I need to start pumping out more videos and become a better editor. I’ve developed a good time/period and make use of my time with editing— not just for business but also for my sister’s and my branding.

These are some of my goals that I need to complete in 2024! I’ll send progress.

His Girl Friday - Scene 3

Scene 3 - Words Are Only Words

J: Code red

The text message popped up on James’ phone during his poolside interview from Jennifer - which one he wasn’t sure - making his stomach wrench uncomfortably. 

For the last three hours, he had managed to keep Gustavo and RCM/CBT/Global-Net/Sanyoid film crew both occupied and distracted while the building team their boss had hired for a commercial shoot was busy transforming apartment 2-J into the ultrateen crib of his dreams. 

In his opinion, he’d been doing an incredible job; If there was one thing James Diamond could do, that was talk, as evidenced by the endless interview footage he’d given the film crew to work with while they put this commercial together. It’d be the first time Big Time Rush would advertise on national and international television, and even if he was driving Gustavo crazy with his endless yapping, he wanted to make sure he was the main focus of the clip. It was a win-win; New apartment, lots of screen time. 

The issue now, however, was that the band and their assistant’s plan was being blown wide open, as evidenced by the text from Jennifer. 

James hoped it was from Blonde Jennifer and his phone buzzed again.

J: CODE RED

He’d been too caught up in his thoughts to react to the message the first time, but now, as he heard screaming from across the pool, he finally made it out of his head and back to the present, where he noticed Gustavo dragging an agitated Logan and Kendall from the lobby to the poolside by their ears. 

Boy did that look uncomfortable. 

But, as of right now, saving his friends from their boss’ evil clutches wasn’t his main concern. A code red meant that Bitters was dangerously on the verge of discovering their plan and if Kendall and Logan had been caught, that left Roxanne as the sole defense against the hotel manager. 

Before Gustavo managed to pull his friends over to the spot he was currently sat in to perform their interviews, James was quick to rush off the set and enter the lobby from the opposite side to avoid being roped into an inescapable situation. Though their boss was scary, he was only one man with no way of containing three wiley teenagers. 

If all went well, Kendall and Logan would be the only two caught anyway. Carlos was busy with Katie and Camille at Rocque Records pretending to have the set for the video built in Studio A when in reality, the set was being constructed in apartment 2-J. Since James had already given his perfect interview, there should have been no reason for Gustavo to seek him out again, but he had devised a foolproof plan to ensure push never came to shove. 

Earlier in the day, James had urged his bandmates to join him in fueling Hollywood’s newest accessory trend - bandanas - through their commercial. None of them had agreed because they never supported his risky fashion choices, but it had admittedly worked out for him in the long run. During part of his interview, James had come up with an insane backstory for a character he “made up in his youth” by the name of Bandana Man. Being in front of the camera and continuing to keep the film rolling allowed him to spin the tale of a mild-mannered fashion designer turned night-stalking vigilante. He’d even designed a long, flowing cape and matching eye mask by weaving his collection of purple bandanas together, making sure to detail the design process to the camera. 

So, James wouldn’t get caught by Gustavo because James wouldn’t be around. Bandana Man would dash off to 2-J to save the day - and by extension Roxy - to ensure he and his friends gained the apartment of their dreams. 

In a matter of seconds, James had hauled the cape and mask on, running up the stairwell to the second floor to make it there hopefully before Bitters and Roxy had a standoff. Hearing the obnoxious sound of power tools as he opened the landing door and entered onto the second floor certainly wasn’t helping their case, but at the very least he spotted his assistant, her back to him, and Bitters rounding the corner down the end of the hallway. 

Each of them was equal distance to the door of 2-J, Roxy would certainly beat the middle-aged manager there, yet it was clear something bad was going on. Even if she beat him, BItters would still be able to do something to stop their scheme and James simply couldn’t let that happen. 

At least, that’s what he told himself. It didn’t have anything to do with his heart skipping a beat thinking about Roxy being in any kind of danger. Whatever she got herself into would be her fault, even if it was at the band’s expense. 

Goddamn it. Ever since he’d seen her in the cheerleaders uniform at the School of Rocque’s first and last-ever basketball game the other day, he’d been having some trouble getting thoughts of Roxy out of his head. It’s not his fault his brain was hardwired to flirt with cheerleaders; Even after his conversation with Logan earlier that day about dating the already-famous for status, James couldn’t forget the adorable way her pigtails curled down past her shoulders or the glimpses he kept sneaking of her perfect legs poking out under the pleated blue skirt. 

It’s just a phase, he told himself, you’ll be dating models once BTR’s first album is released. 

But he certainly thought Roxy was pretty enough to be a model if she really wanted to. 

Her back left foot shifted, the same as his would if he were preparing to shoot across the ice during a hockey game, and his heart skipped another beat. She was about to throw herself right into the heart of the issue at his… the band’s… expense. What kind of hero let an ordinary person fight their battles? Definitely not Bandana Man. 

In a flash, he sprinted past her, catching the scent of her delicious floral perfume. The noise of heavy footsteps down the hall alerted the hotel manager to his presence, and James hoped that his large frame and wide cape would conceal his assistant enough so she wouldn’t be held liable for whatever was about to come. 

The man froze about halfway down the hall and James struck his best superhero pose, arms akimbo, while imagining his cape effortlessly flowing behind him. He’d seen enough superhero movies to know he looked exactly as cool as he thought he did. 

But, honestly, he wasn’t quite sure where to go from here. He’d nailed the pose, he’d saved his friend, but now he needed to contain the villain… So, he screamed and Bitters jumped about a foot off the ground before letting out a defenseless yelp and diving into one of the supply closets on the floor. 

In his first week at the Palm Woods, James learned plenty of interesting facts about the hotel while exploring with his friends… Like the fact the supply closets are locked from the outside. Now that their main threat was taken care of, he casually strode over to the door and flipped the lock, pulling one of the extra purple bandanas he had in his pocket and stuffing it into the doorframe just in case. 

As the boy turned around to face the other person in the hallway, he had the overwhelming urge to ask if she was alright, but was quickly caught off by her questioning tone, “...James?” He knew the costume wasn’t perfect, but hopped Bitters had been freaked out enough not to notice it was him as fast as Roxy did. With a sigh, he took his mask off, absentmindedly running his hand through his hair to smooth it down after the number the cowl no doubt did to his ‘do. 

“And they said bandanas weren’t cool?” He quipped, once again on his crusade to prove them as the best type of accessory. 

“They’re not,” His assistant replied, but she was smiling, and to him, at that moment, that was all that mattered. “But that’s for your help. Hopefully, that’ll keep Bitters occupied for a while.” 

Before he knew it, he strode over to her, gently taking her hand and placing a light kiss on the back of it. Electrifying.

“Bandana Man is at your service, always.” James somehow managed without missing a beat, despite the blood roaring through his ears at his actions. 

The two of them stood like that for a moment, a small inch of contact, before Roxy let her hand fall out of his, before clearing her throat and letting her eyes wander around the hall. “I’ll be sure not to reveal your secret identity…”

God, now she was playing along? But at what point did the Bandana Man facade end and James begin? 

Just as he was about to respond, a smirk affixed to his features - because she was definitely flirting with him, right? - the sound of power tools came to a stop from behind the door to apartment 2-J. If they were finished, the construction manager caught the two of them out in the hall, and recognized them from their meeting earlier, Big Time Rush’s plan would be blown wide open; Neither of them was willing to risk that for the thrill of a little back and forth banter. 

“We can hide at my place!” Roxy interrupted his train of thought, “Gustavo’s bound to come up here at any second!” As she began fishing around her bag for her apartment key, James' eyes widened, remembering the amendment he and the boys had made to the construction blueprint earlier. A connecting door from apartment 2-J to apartment 2-H. 

“No!” He found himself blurting, a bit too fast after her offer, before realizing he didn’t have a good enough excuse as to why not. “No, that’ll be the, uh, first place he looks.” 

Her sparking eyes narrowed, “He’d go to your place, not mine.” 

James let out an involuntary sigh, not because he was upset with her, but because he was upset that their little exchange was interrupted. Not that it mattered to him that much. 

Just as he was deciding the next phase of his argument, the door to 2-J flew open, leaving him and his assistant mere seconds to evacuate the hallway. His quick-thinking hockey senses kicked in and he scanned the area as fast as humanly possible, eyes landing on the stairwell at the end of the hallway.

Without thinking, his hands flew to her shoulders, pushing her a bit more forcefully than he’d meant to down the corridor leading to the landing between staircases. Had he been with Kendall, Carlos, or Logan, that wouldn’t have been a problem, but the moment they reached the other side of the door safely, Roxy aggressively swatted his hands off of her body with a heaving chest.

Immediately, her words from earlier in the day played in his head. “I think it’s just people grabbing me roughly that’s been freaking me out lately.”

She had confided in the band earlier about an incident that led to them being kicked off the Sexy Dog Dog Food set last night and he had just done the same exact thing to her.

“Shit! Sorry… I am so, so sorry, Roxy, I forgot what you said earlier.” 

A bead of sweat tickled from her hairline down her cheek before she managed to wipe it away with the back of her hand, still having trouble controlling her breathing. 

“It’s… It’s alright,” She pushed out between shaky breaths. Sinking down to the carpeted ground and leaning against the solid wooden door she continued, “I trust you…You were just trying to help me.”

Those words sent him into a spiral as well but for far different reasons. 

She trusts me? One of his hands shot out to the wall to steady himself before he eventually ended up dropping down next to her. I’ve known her all of seven days…

When Roxy leaned her head against his shoulder and closed her eyes, her labored breaths slowly became more regular. He listened as she breathed in, held it for a few seconds, and then breathed out before starting the process all over again. 

It reminded him, shockingly, of his mother. She’d do the same breathing technique before she had to present at a conference or enter a board meeting. Of course, that was mostly because his dad would be in the same room - Just because they’d been divorced didn’t make him any less of a shareholder in Brooke Diamond Cosmetics - and not because of anxiety, but if James was around she often asked him to tell her a joke to clear her mind before she went in. 

“Did you hear what the ocean said to the beach?” He asked on reflex. They were never good jokes, but Brooke would always take her last breath out and manage a crooked smile. 

At the very least, it got Roxy to sit up, turning to face her friend even with her troubled breathing. One of her brows raised. “What are you doing?” 

He turned to face her as well. “Why would the ocean say ‘ What are you doing?’ to the beach? That would be a terrible joke.” 

“I think you should stick with singing, comedy really isn’t the move for you,” She shot back, chucking at her own comeback.

With her laughter, her smile returned, and James considered his mission to be accomplished. And it was infectious, spreading over to him as he said, “In a roundabout way, it got you laughing so I’m calling that a win.” 

“You were trying to make me laugh?” That realization sent her into an even larger fit of giggles. “With a terrible joke like that? So stupid…”

James’ heart squeezed. 

“I’m pretty sure it’s helping at the moment.” 

And he was right, she had nearly forgotten all about her moment of panic, letting a strange, but comfortable silence wash over the stairwell for a moment. 

Slowly, Roxy turned to James again once she’d recovered from her giggle attack and held out her left palm. “Give me one of those bandanas you had earlier.”

Say less! The boy thought to himself, pulling out the fistful he’d left in his pocket after his interview earlier. As he handed them over, he teasingly clicked his tongue, “You could at least say ‘please.’”

“Please…” The assistant sighed, reaching out and picking a bright red and white patterned cloth; James pretended not to notice when her nails skirted against his palm. “...Don’t push your luck.”
