So. Rayko. He loved Zakai and died just a few short months after she was born. She looks more like him than she looks like Lore. Rayko and Lore loved one another so saying goodbye to Rayko and then, shortly after, having to hope that none of the Restorationists ratted her out. Thankfully, Lore got off extremely lucky. Rayko's death was unrelated to his status as a Restorationist.

House-museum of Polina Rayko in Oleshky, Ukraine. She started painting her house at the age of 69 after deaths of her daughter and husband, and son's imprisonment. Polina Rayko died in 2004. Her home was a national cultural monument of Ukraine and a tourist attraction. House was destroyed in June 2023 by flooding following the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam by russians.

Due to floods caused by the russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka HPP, the house-museum that belonged to ukrainian naive artist Polina Rayko is now underwater. A moment of appreciation for her art, she is one of my favorite naive artists

Victoria Amelina was a Ukrainian novelist, poet and public intellectual. When Russia launched its full-scale invasion of her country in 2022, she set aside most of her writing to document and research war crimes. Amelina understood the risks she ran with this work, both as a citizen who chose to stay in her country during war, and as a writer facing an invading army bent on destroying Ukrainian national identity. She moved her son to safety in Poland, but kept returning herself. When Kyiv came under bombardment in early summer she watched the explosions from her apartment and wrote: “The war is when you can no longer follow all news and cry about all neighbours who died instead of you a couple of miles away. Still, I want to not forget to learn the names.” She died on 1 July, aged 37, from injuries sustained in a Russian missile strike on a pizza restaurant in the eastern town of Kramatorsk. Two weeks before she died, she wrote about a painter, Polina Rayko, whose work had been largely obliterated in the floods unleashed by the collapse of the Kakhovka dam: “Art lives as long as the world sees it.” Below is Poem About a Crow, inspired by her work interviewing women who lived through Russian occupation. The one that has not stopped believing The one that still grieves in silence

She’ll cry them all into the ground As though sowing the field with pain

And from pain and the names of women Her new sisters will grow from the earth And again will sing joyfully of life

But what about her, the crow?

If I were to break down some of my JRWI designs and headcanons, it would have been massively influenced by the people around me. Like transfem and disabled William came from @/canyourlawnmowerdothis. Rumi's darker skin tone came from @/pyrotf2. Any top sugery scars were influenced by general fandom. Chip being latino was from the general fandom. Vyncent Sol takes major inspiration from @/seraphex. Peter's sweater was from @/jamtamart. My Niklaus design has piercings from @/fizzfags. I draw Dakota's body modelled after a drawing @/mayko-rayko did. Ayva is basically just the @/rumiracle-whip design but in my style. Jay has a nose modelled after @/orionis13's. @/aethlingg has a drawing of the Trickster that entirely inspired my own. Gillion's tusk-teeth came from @/kutakunagasblog.

I do make a lot of individual decisions but, I borrow a lot from other people too, you know? Maybe people don't realise this but I have seen and read a lot of fanart and other posts, and I LOVE them. When I reblog something, even if I don't leave a comment, I need you to know I treasure it, and things will stick with me.

I have a lot of my own merits, but I owe so much to the community who constantly inspire me. Sorry if that sounds sappy, I just love you all so much u have no idea.

Lore's (late) first husband and her current husband. If these men met, they'd probably have a disdain for one another based on their ideals and beliefs. Rayko has always had this mysterious, secretive air about him. Its what drew Lore to him in the first place. Whereas Eric is more akin to a puppy who just wants attention. He had been secretly pinning for Lore for ages before she gave him a chance after Rayko died. Eric also canonically thought Rauko was hot as fuck but now its been 20 years and he only has eyes for his wife
