Visiting the Global Bird Fair and Rutland Water nature reserves 14th-16th July 2023
On Saturday we had a brilliant day in the second Global Bird Fair at Rutland Showground, it was great to see and chat to some familiar faces and new ones and go to some inspiring and entertaining talks. In particular standing out was hearing from Simon King (whom we had met at every British Birdwatching Fair we attended between 2008 and 2019 so it felt good to restart our tradition of having a photo taken with him!) and others about the making of Wild Isles for BBC One and wider conservation issues around some of its stars and landscapes which was fascinating. The ‘This Is Your Life’ for (as we guessed as it was a well kept secret as to who it was) co-founder Tim Appleton was also fantastic, and emotional. It really got to the core of his amazing achievements and what he and others have done for nature as well the importance of having a Bird Fair and the values that it was born from. Nick Baker, Mike Dilger, Jonathan and Angie Scott, Nigel Marvin and David Lindo were other great well known faces we caught up with/saw/heard from. Another Bird Fair favourite of ours watching the BTO bird ringing demonstration was a little hindered by the dramatic stormy weather but we still enjoyed seeing Great Tit and Chaffinch being ringed and it was really interesting to hear about ringing again. All in all year two felt ever more like this event we love and I’ve grown up with and it was sad to lose is back, and I come home feeling inspired and heartened by spending time with inspirations of mine and like-minded people.
A big part of this annual trip for us since 2008 is of course seeing the wildlife in the Lyndon and Egleton Nature reserves at Rutland Water and we visited them on Friday and Sunday respectively. It was sensational to watch the star of the show at both, Ospreys. We got astonishing views of the two adults and three chicks at Manton Bay seen in the rain at Lyndon with a lot of action observed, and got some thrilling views of them at Egleton especially watching for an extended time as one fished which is always spectacular at the end of the day and trip. A fellow raptor also starred as after not seeing one at Rutland Water before this weekend I don’t believe we got some phenomenal views of rustic and agile Hobbies at both reserves. It really was quite something watching them sail through the air, seeing one successfully hunt which was great. Two of my favourite birds that I’m having a top year for. As hoped we saw our first Green Sandpipers of the year at Egleton, we got stunning views of a fair few of these iridescent wading beauties some of my best ever views I loved seeing them. In the same spot as we did on our visits here the last two years we also saw some splendid Yellow-legged Gulls which was charming, also my first of the year taking my year list to 212.

Ospreys at Lyndon
Other bird highlights over the weekend were many Sand Martins and Common Terns seen, Great White and Little Egrets, Great Crested and Little Grebes including seeing both flying which I don’t often see, Shelduck, Egyptian Geese including with young, a trio of warblers Blackcap, Reed Warbler and Sedge Warbler seen well, Teal, Gadwall, Tufted Duck, Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Common Sandpiper, Swallow, House Martin, Swift, Linnet, Stock Dove, Dunnock, Chaffinch, Coot, Moorhen and many Cormorants and Song Thrush heard with Buzzard, Red Kite, Yellowhammer and Grey Heron on a pond in one of the pretty settlements I loved passing through on journeys as I always do Preston seen nicely when going from the hotel to the places and back and Red Kite, Jackdaw and Woodpigeon seen well at the fair.

A young Shelduck at Egleton
As we have had a lot on Rutland trips over the years there was a moment of mammal magic on Friday when thanks to guidance from the kind volunteer we got chatting to in a hide we saw a Water Vole swim back and forth into a channel several times. This was an amazing moment seeing a species I adore and is very close to my heart for the first time in over four years. Seeing this superb and adorable species added gloss to my already personal highest ever mammal year list, and I think it meant a lot to me to see one the same year I finally saw an Otter. Seeing these two stars of the water this year feels exceptional. This was a big unexpected and amazing moment of the weekend.

The wonderful Water Vole
It’ll become tradition us being in Rutland for the start of the Big Butterfly Count what with when Global Bird Fair is and I got to do that on Sunday at Egleton as we saw some more brightness before and mixed in with showers as the weekend went on. Butterflies came into their own with Painted Lady, many Red Admirals it’s their year to have a numbers swell it seems, Small Tortoiseshell, Ringlet, Green-veined White and many Gatekeepers, Meadow Browns and Small Whites ones we got outstanding moments with. We also saw Brimstone, Speckled Wood, Comma and a Small Skipper. Possibly a Brown Silver-line and also my first Bird Cherry Ermine moth of the year with a few of these pretty white ones great to see were nice moth moments at Egleton.

The trip is always good for dragonflies at these reserves that are rich in them at this time of year. Not the weather for it on Friday but on Sunday at Egleton we got some breathtaking flying and landed views of varied coloured Southern Hawkers which was so good. We also saw Brown Hawker a key species here and of my last two weekends, Common Darter, Black-tailed Skimmer which I’m having a memorable year for, Common Blue and Blue-tailed Damselfly. It was a good weekend for beetles and other insects with my first ever Violet ground beetle seen at Lyndon, ladybird at Egleton and the Bird Fair, Common Red Soldier beetles seen well at Egleton, Marmalade and Long hoverfly there as well as fruit flies and bee and wasp. In the hides of Lyndon as I have seen before were some fabulous spiders including Harvestman with one seen at Egleton too.

The Violet Ground beetle
There were many summer flowers to enjoy on the trip. Some rich and vibrant bits of meadow at Egleton where we enjoyed a wealth of butterflies boasted gems such as bird aka tufted vetch shining in the sunlight, lady’s bedstraw, wild carrot and scabious. Great willowherb, ragwort, St. John’s-wort, terrific thistle, yarrow, self-heal, marsh woundwort seen nicely at Lyndon, herb-Robert, red campion, dark mullein, meadowsweet, dock, forget-me-not, oxeye daisies painting the landscape on the bits of land on lagoon four at Egleton as I enjoyed last year, mallow and so much white clover including alongside chickweed seen in tents on the show ground at the fair were other highlights across the weekend. Finally Rutland, Rutland Water and the surrounding area is very picturesque so it was great to take in panoramic, wetland, water, meadow and rural views with some lovely buildings observed. The changeable and ferocious weather creating a good dramatic background to the landscape this year. Such a fun weekend, I am excited for next year already.

Watch "Neil Young - Down by the River - Live (Official Music Video)" on YouTube
youtube
He said he hurt me really bad and took the data and tried to floor my husband and others is a little bit of a nutcase and a weakling in some ways very very dangerous person and he didn't do that and I escaped beforehand and just barely it was very hard and we had a lot of things and people on it my husband was trying his best yeah hard and there are some things in the way and it removed and really it was very difficult I don't know what you guys are doing that doesn't seem to be as hard it seems to be very big still though
Hera Zues
It's just wear a mess and we missed it he's trying to threaten him when he was young over and over and over to grab Melissa and Jen and other girlfriends and he knew something about them and as soon as notes somewhere and I remember seeing it you think he's saying they're getting away and I need them and I can't use them but I have to and they're not related to him my grand nephew says it doesn't make sense you can't use them so I figured out something what the hell does this mean it said I can't follow what they're doing and I can't see what they're doing but I have to and I got to find them and interrogate them and I don't think I can use them. It means if he finds them and interrogates him he's going to hit them for some reason because you can't get him to do anything or why say that notes my grand nephew says the last sentence I'm going to find an interrogate them and I can't use them and it's not something he can look up easily it looks like we're meant to find it and talk to him there's other stuff that leads you to believe that he thinks that they weren't human and it's in different notes yes studies and he said this where unleashing something and nobody cares I saw that later on almost when he was out and it's A veiled threat. I need something to say stuff and nobody cared Joe m is saying have some mercy this is old news and Preston saying no it's not a guy in there is one of them mamillion he doesn't get it, what do I not get you're a free demon and they're not and he's pooped but it doesn't matter if this is what I'm saying he knows who's talking about and he's friends with your other half it's just that Joe's kind of a dick so he smiles ain't terrific it's true you're a free demon and they're not you don't want to wait quickly like they do he did on purpose and he had my grandson have strange babies. He got worse and worse he's doing it on purpose he piled all the stuff on himself he attacked the max he did it on purpose because he had to force himself to do it and the cause of conflict and he needed to do it as a distraction to grab things to grab people like myself and Hera and that was my grand nephew again and we now see something people are trying this all over the place but we don't know who they are and it might be his people and he thinks Alice took over and that might be more possible and you go up and you find aliens to have to send robots there and Brian destroys the ship so she she's trying to kill Brian and I don't think that will send in the movie I don't think that was him cuz it's happening now and just trying to get something it is true or I think he jumped off into the bridge like I said cuz he hits the relationship then people figure out where it is and then the kite happens just like I thought and she let us to the make a computers it's true too she's not very bright and he did it on purpose sort of supposed to do something else but the program figured it out it doesn't do that well it keeps trying to do stuff just like Kim Kardashian it's not funny even she's like that she's a regular person a regular Mac and she just tries businesses and can't keep them afloat
Mac this is who it is it's Alice and she's a problem and Tommy f and Trump and a few others but it's all caused because of ghwb and it's massively aggressive plan and that happened because he's tired of seeing his kids friend on me and his grandson by us and infiltrators and the clean itself clean herself an idiot s*** and infant it was horrible the skunk is having us waking nightmare all the time I could look at him and say
Mac again

you know how you as the player character can use the v.a.t.s ability to slow down time and get really accurate shots off? How about the companions reacting to sole using v.a.t.s. to quickly hit multiple targets with unerring accuracy and even shooting a grenade out of the air?
Cait - "Are ye on jet or something?! There's no way ye could've hit all of those without being high as a kite!"
Piper - "Y'know, Blue, sometimes I seriously wonder what you actually did before the war. Were you really just a lawyer?"
Curie - "Incredible, Madame! Your eyesight must be twenty-twenty and your abilities to process depth perception and anticipate locations ahead of time are absolutely inspiring!"
MacCready - "Wow.... In all my time of being a sniper, I honest to goodness can pretty much safely say that I've never shot a grenade out of the air..."
Deacon - "Okay... I think you and Glory need to have a talk. She could learn a lot from you about not blowing an entire area apart with bullets while just trying to kill three guys..."
Codsworth - "Impressive, Mum!!! With that sort of military-like expertise you're showing off, I'll bet the hubby would be quite proud indeed!"
Hancock - "That... is absolutely incredible. How do you--- You know what? I'm not going to ask. I think it's one of those weird tricks that only you know how to do by some way that I could never understand."
Danse - "Outstanding..... Perhaps you should speak to Maxson and share this ability with him. He could surely find a great position for you to be an instructor and teach others how to pull off incredible feats such as this!"
Preston - "As if you couldn't prove yourself to be even more amazing..." *cue heart-eyes*
Valentine - "Y'know, counting my own memories and the old Nick Valentine's memories together, I still don't think I've ever seen anything like that. You're really something, kid."
X6-88 - "That is even beyond the abilities of a courser... How did you do that?"
Dogmeat - Does not get what just happened, but the bad guys just fell over and died suddenly, and he is happy. His human is safe, so he considers this to be the most important thing and a huge victory.
Strong - "Tiny human has better aim than super-mutant?! HOW?!!!"

You know what I need in my life? Female Sole Survivor and the companions trying to have a super serious meeting about saving The Commonwealth... but over Zoom.
Everyone would worry about Deacon’s sanity because he’d tape a bunch of spoons to his head and try to convince them that he was actually Codsworth.
Codsworth would be very disturbed by this imposter.
Preston would keep trying to take control of the screen to remind Sole about that settlement that needs their help.
Piper would be doing Sudoku the whole time because she thinks this meeting could have been an email. She’s right.
Hancock would be high as a kite and showing off the friendship bracelets he made for everyone.
Cait wouldn’t say a word. She’d just be sharpening a knife and staring straight into the camera to wordlessly tell everyone how much she hates Zoom meetings.
Danse would be super attentive and would definitely be in either full power armor, or a literal suit and tie even though he’s just at home.
Dogmeat’s camera would just be his nose trying to sniff everyone through the computer.
MacCready wouldn’t be paying attention because he’d have Duncan on his lap asking who everyone is.
Nick would be trying to help Sole keep everyone on track but would probably get frustrated and end up just being sassy.
Curie would just be a good girl, offering her help whenever she could.
And Sole would be the long-suffering babysitter, rubbing her temple against a migraine.
Also, Strong isn’t there because he smashed his computer once the internet started lagging.
.
I have no artistic ability. But artists of Tumblr, if anyone could make this happen, I would die of happiness.

How the Companion’s Unwind With Sole
Request: “Hey! How do you think the companions would unwind after a long day traveling/scavenging/working with the Sole Survivor?”
CW/TW: None
Note: I made this a mix of long-term friendship and mutual, undiscussed crushing. I.e. extremely comfortable with each other, but not technically together (since it wasn’t specified.) I hope that’s okay!
Cait:
Cait’s a big fan of napping as a form of bonding. After a long day, Sole and Cait can be found tangled together, sprawled across something. They usually drop wherever their energy runs out; sometimes this means they make it to the couch, or sometimes they’re on the floor using their jackets as a blanket. If it’s extremely hot, the repaired tub comes in handy. They fill it with water and end up passed out together in the tub, wearing the Commonwealth equivalent of a bathing suit. No one wants to wake them up if needed; they’re scary when they’re not allowed to get their full nap in.
Curie:
Initially, she struggles quite a bit with the concept of unwinding at the end of the day. At first the only time she stops and relaxes is if she physically can’t move due to exhaustion. Eventually, Sole learns to get her to relax with them by giving her little, semi-productive tasks (in the vein of hobbies); sewing, if her fingers are up for it, drawings (Sole swears there’s a scientific reason for needing her drawings), etc. It takes a while to get Curie into the swing of actually unwinding at the end of the day.
Danse:
Danse never really allows himself to do nothing. At the end of a long day, he and Sole eat together in the cafeteria in silence; Danse enjoys intellectual discussion with them and their tales of the Wasteland, but both of them are too tired to speak, and he values comfortable silence even more. Once they’ve recharged a little they head either to the workshop or his quarters and work on their armor or weapons in that reassuring silence. If they’ve been “friends” long enough, Sole will lean their back against him while they work. Danse finds the weight that reminds him of their presence reassuring.
Deacon:
Sole and Deacon can be found inconveniencing literally everyone in the Railroad. They often lay in the middle of the main walkways of the Railroad HQ, Deacon’s feet propped up on someone’s chair, Sole upside down in someone else's. Sometimes Deacon’s reading, sometimes Sole’s loudly reciting old Pre-War tales. If Deacon has enough energy he’s loudly singing along to the Diamond City radio or telling stories in accents that have Sole crying with laughter. Eventually, they both fall asleep in the most awkward of positions, and the other members of the Railroad are forced to step over/around them. Desdemona has wheeled Sole, asleep, upside down in their chair, to the corner of the HQ so they were less inconvenient before. Sole stayed asleep.
Gage:
Gage kicks his feet up on the top of the Grille and is probably smoking or drinking. Another companion that enjoys mutual silence, he doesn’t mind when Sole joins him on the couch and curls up with their head against his shoulder or on his thigh. They simply watch the clouds drift by and the day turn to night. The ultimate luxury is to waste time, and it’s rare that they get to have that.
Haylen:
Back in Haylen’s quarters, she and Sole are tangled together quite lazily. Sole’s propped up on a borrowed pillow, doing what they please, either reading or messing with their Pip-Boy. Haylen’s leaned quite crookedly, her legs swung over Sole’s lap, their hand on her shin, reading. Eventually, Sole falls asleep and Haylen brings the blanket up to cover them. Once she feels sleep taking hold of her, too, she crawls under the blanket and curls up, close to Sole, but not touching.
Hancock:
As stereotypical and predictable as it may be, they’re either at the Third Rail drinking and dancing if they have the energy, their laughter filling the room, or in his room. Hancock’s higher than a kite, stunned into silence, listening to Sole’s voice spin tales he couldn’t imagine, post or pre-war. They’re joined at the hip, Sole’s head on his chest or vice versa. Physical affection isn’t unusual for them at that point, so they look more like a couple than any of the other companions and Sole would.
MacCready:
MacCready prefers to enjoy his comic books at the end of a long day. He doesn’t care where he ends up or how Sole folds into him, he’s lost in the stories he’s reading. Sole often comes up to him when he’s reading and just curls into his side. He lifts his arm for them to tuck into him without a word and continues his comic while they drift off to sleep.
Nick:
If Sole’s not drained by the end of the day, he takes them out to eat. 99% of the time they’re too busy to do anything but eat whatever they have in the Agency on the go/while they’re working, so getting them Power Noodles or eating elsewhere is a gesture of time off and becomes synonymous with a nonverbal, “Good job.” They make it a rule not to talk about work during those moments, so instead they enjoy some banter and good conversation. At the end of the day, when they’re back at the Agency, Nick refuses to let them return to work.
Piper:
Most of the time she makes sure to schedule the next day off for them and lets them do what they want. She’s more than willing to follow whatever they have planned, whether it’s travelling somewhere (locally), or just taking a nap and only waking to eat. She’s exhausted too, and not having to make a decision is work off her plate.
Preston:
Preston is another companion who has to be taught how to relax. Sole gives him tasks like helping them cook or “keep an eye on Dogmeat. No, sit down on the couch, I promise it’s the best position to watch him.” in order to get him to stop working himself to the bone. He catches on after the first couple of times, but plays along. He thinks it’s extremely sweet that they’d go through the trouble and also finds humor in them having to come up with excuses and “tasks.” Eventually, though, even if they both try to stay awake to talk to each other, they fall asleep sitting up on the couch together, slumped together.
X6-88 (Post-Institute):
X6-88 has a complex about proving himself useful, especially after the Institute, so convincing him to relax is a long process. Eventually, Sole wins him over by explaining that, scientifically, it helps your body recharge and makes you more productive, even if it doesn’t seem like it. After a long day, weather permitting, they lay in the back fields of Sanctuary and look at the stars. Sometimes they talk, sometimes they don’t. Eventually, X6-88 lays with his head resting on their chest and falls asleep listening to Sole’s heartbeat, the cool breeze washing away the stress of the day.

I want you (she's so heavy), very interested n your opinion about this one.
I haven't listened to it in a hot minute actually!
But I love it tbh. It's absolutely haunting and HYPNOTIZING. It feels sort of "unfinished" in a way, with the way it stops and starts again and how the guitar is following John's melody perfectly, almost like it's a karaoke track hehe. It feels like a pretty raw jam in that sense, but it's what distinguishes it as a song, really. I do find it a bit annoying when he seems to pull away from the mic and gets drowned out lol.
The bassline breakdown thing gets a LOT of (deserved) love but – can we talk about Billy Preston's solo during the first breakdown? It's sublime!!!!!! Also the TEMPO change into those bits! I feel like I'm drowning, being dragged down to the floor, listening to it cause it feels that mind-numbingly slow. It really drives home that this isn't in any form a happy song, it's about the crippling nature of carnal desire.
I never skip the end. It's perfect. I also never check the timestamp to make sure it jumpscares me, like that's the point, yknow? I usually spend the last two full minutes expecting it and
((IT LITERALLY CUT OUT WHILE I WAS TYPING THIS I DIED ))
getting more and more nervous, it's all part of the experience.
Honestly, I lowkey think this is John tapping into his inner-Paul – he who writes music that expresses everything to the point the words are just there to serve the music, not vice versa.
PS: The Love album having Mr Kite transition into this is sooooooo cool!
Send a Beatles song you'd like to hear me rant about!

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978)
Tumblr media
Release Date: July 21, 1978 Starring: Peter Frampton, The Bee Gees, Frankie Howerd, Donald Pleasence, Steve Martin, Billy Preston, and George Burns.
Directed by: Michael Schultz (Car Wash, Krush Groove, Cooley High, Which Way Is Up?, The Last Dragon)
“We hate love. We hate joy. We love money.”
Open on a title card reading, “August, 1918…The Tiny Village of Fleu de Coup” as tanks roll down a war ravaged street and the narrator, Mr. Kite (George Burns), tells us Heartland USA sent their secret weapon - Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band - to help as an actual fucking marching band enters the fire fight bringing on an instant ceasefire with an instrumental version of The Beatles’ title track befitting Main Street USA at Disneyland. Soon after a long, pointless history of wars and major events the Lonely Hearts Club soundtracked, the good Sergeant keels over dead on stage at his final concert in 1958.
This is the backstory literally no one asked for delivered by completely different storytellers than the 1967 groundbreakers. The 1970s were something, kids. Sgt. Pepper’s The Movie is a ludicrous spectacle best viewed as a raucous bauble to ogle in happy confusion.
Turns out good Sergeant left his band’s magical instruments in the town of Heartland and his grandson Billy Shears (Peter Frampton) forms a new Lonely Hearts Club Band with his best mates, The Bee Gee’s Gibb Brothers, who sound truly dynamite performing the familiar songs - Frampton less so - but their sincerity and affection for the material imbues the musical performances with the gusto of a very enthusiastic community theatre troupe. As for the acting by the leads, these fellows are no Beatles. Even though they never speak a line of dialogue with the songs moving the plot along in classic musical style, Frampton and the Gibbs ham it up like this their first encounter with a motion picture camera and their only role model are bad silent film comedians.
The remaining plot - an incomprehensible stew that makes Xanadu seem well thought out - is equal parts insane and inane, a brightly colored, wildly artificial world filled with George Burns strumming electric guitars one minute and skipping with children the next, bizarre sound effects inserted randomly over music & dialogue, a disheveled adversary (Mr. Mustard Seed) with female robot assistants that massage him, critical takes on the late 70s record industry, barn romps in haystacks, a wild & crazy Dr. Maxwell (Steve Martin) lobotomixing people then dressing them like Boy Scouts, a scavenger hunt for magical instruments, Alice Cooper as a crooning acid apparition, Aerosmith as Future Villain Band, Earth Wind & Fire’s iconic take on “Got To Get You Into My Life,” and so much more. Selling four Englishmen as the epitome of Middle American goodness and light is weird but whatever. The costumes, cars, and sets are smorgasbord of 70s oddball style of the sort fetishized today - a shiny rainbow of gadgets, super convertible limos, vinyl record water beds, deep deep shag carpets, pricey recreational chemistry, all manner of nifty analog recording equipment, design furniture, and high-wasted white jeans with leather belts that accent one’s bulge nicely. It’s like a deranged genie made a vintage Sky Mall catalog the template for reality. Throughout, the filmmakers are clearly criticizing the excess, avarice, and conscious dumbness of giant record industry but do so in a bloated, dumbly expensive, completely unnecessary film. Cocaine doesn’t get a producer credit but one suspects Mr. Peruvian Flake was the chief executive that greenlighted this shit show (and lured in Billy Preston for a VERY energetic scene as a gold weather vane that comes to life transforms the townsfolk into priests and nuns with a side of raising the dead).
Nothing makes sense. This movie has no reason to exist yet it does. The editing recalls Homer Simpson’s discovery of the “Star Wipe,” with director Michael Schultz using every gimmick in the Laugh-In handbook to keep this turd trundling along. Schultz’s career survived but the leads lost a lot of credibility and the movie tanked financially, a surprise to the brain-trust behind Sgt. Pepper, which was following the mega-successes of Saturday Night Fever and Grease.
You’ll be forgiven if you regularly cry out, “What the fuck is happening here!?!” The pleasure of Sgt. Pepper comes when one views it as a fever dream, a crazily disjointed, aggressively unending mirage best glimpsed through thick, smokey clouds. Pairs Well With: Another mind-boggling, only in the 1970s musical film from the same year, The Wiz (1978).

How do the companions comfort a sad Sole?
Cait: Initially Cait wouldn’t really be sure what to do. First off she’d recommend they’d go out for a drink. Nothing a good pint couldn’t fix, right? But if it were a case of a pint couldn’t fix it, she’d be at a bit of a loss as what to do. Sure she’d try and be kind and supportive, but her uncomfortableness would certainly show.
Curie: At first Curie would think Sole was unwell. She’d do everything she could to try and diagnose their illness. Eventually Sole would explain to her that they were feeling a bit down. And as soon as she was made aware of this fact she would be brilliant at comforting her friend. Lots of kind words and cuddles when needed.
Danse: Danse would be uncomfortable with the idea of trying to comfort someone. So he would try and distract Sole with suggestions of jobs they would carry out. Keeping the mind and body busy was the best cure to sadness in his eyes.
Deacon: Deacon was the friend that everyone needed when they were sad. He would comfort Sole by making dumb jokes, trying to have a laugh, eating lots of junk food and drinking fizzy drinks. And if Sole needed to cry, he would be there as a shoulder for them to cry on.
Hancock: In his mind, the cure to sadness was getting high as a kite. He would offer Sole whatever Chems they could possibly imagine, booze as well. If they turned this offer down he would try again. And again. Pretty much this offer would stand until Sooe had cheered up.
Macready: Surprisingly Macready was extremely good at cheering people up. He would be a good shoulder for Sole to cry on, would crack a few jokes, would threaten to shoot anyone who may have upset them. He would pretty much just be there and supportive until Sole was good to stand on their own. No matter how long it would take.
Nick: Nick would give off major dad vibes when Sooe was upset. A big hug, an offer to sort out whatever issue they may have had, and good ol’ fashioned advice. And if that didn’t work, he would offer to take Sole out for a drink if needed.
Piper: Pretty much raising Nat had prepared Piper for situations like this. She would sit Blue down, make them talk through how they were feeling with her. If they needed to cry she would give a big cuddle, stroking their hair and letting them know it was okay to let it out. Even if it took all night she’d sit there taking care of her friend.
Preston: Preston was a firm believer in lazy days when feeling sad. So when Sole was feeling down he would suggest they spend a day just laying around doing nothing. And if needed they would do this for more than a day then he would just lay there being lazy with them.
