Petticoat Lane market, in the East End's Spitalfields area, in 1957.
The History part 2
From 1882, a wave of Jewish immigrants fleeing persecution in eastern Europe settled in the area. The chapels, which had previously served the Huguenot community, were adapted as synagogues. Many Jewish relief societies were founded to aid the poor. Jewish immigrants entered the local garment industry & maintained the traditions of the market. The severe damage inflicted throughout the East End during the Blitz & later bombing in World War II served to disperse the Jewish communities to new areas. The area around Middlesex Street suffered a decline, but the market continued to prosper. Beginning in the 1970s, a new wave of immigration from India & east Asia restored the area's vitality - centred on nearby Brick Lane.
In previous times the market was unpopular with the authorities, as it was largely unregulated & in some sense illegal. As recently as the 1930s, police cars & fire engines were driven down The Lane, with alarm bells ringing, to disrupt the market. The rights of the market were finally protected by Act of Parliament in 1936. As late as the 1990s, if Christmas Day fell on a Sunday (which in that decade only occurred in 1994), many of the local Jewish traders would still assert their right to open on a Sunday. 'The Lane' was always renowned for the 'patter' & showmanship of the market traders. Some, selling crockery, would pile an entire setting onto a large plate, & then send the lot, high into the air. Catching the construction on its way down was to demonstrate the skill of the vendor, & the robustness of the porcelain.
A prominent businessman, Alan Sugar, got his start as a stall holder in the market. The market remains busy & vibrant, reflecting both its immigrant history & its continuing popularity with locals & tourists.

An Indian princess whose pivotal role remains largely forgotten in history, had great influence in the Women's Suffrage Movement, which led to British women acquiring the right to vote. Princess Sophia Duleep Singh was the daughter of Duleep Singh and granddaughter of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Born in the summer of 1876, she spent the early part of her life in the English Countryside and only first visited India in 1903. This was a turning point in her life as she was alarmed by the treatment of her fellow citizens under an autocratic colonial regime.
The princess was enamoured by the work of many Indian revolutionaries and was especially intrigued by the work of Lala Lajpat Rai who was imprisoned on sedition charges. This discovery first moved Sophia to turn against the British Raj and she returned to England looking for a fight. She actively got engaged in WSPU (Women’s Social & Political Union) and inadvertently became a significant part of the Suffrage Movement.
As part of the Women's Tax Resistance League, they led rallies with the slogan “No taxation without representation” and "No Vote, No Tax". Known as the most vilified women in England, they garnered a special dislike amongst royals. In November 1910, on the day later known as ‘Black Friday’, Sophia and Emmeline (woman who organised the Suffrage Movement) led a protest with suffragettes marching towards the House of Commons. As noted by the Quint, they were passionate with the hopes of convincing then Prime Minister Herbert Asquith’s government to pass a limited suffrage bill.
However, they were attacked by the police and the princess soon got arrested. This only fueled her fire as she started selling ‘The Suffragette’ newspaper outside the elite area of Hampton Court Palace. She also subverted the census and claimed that if women do not count then they should not be counted either. The rebellious princess threw herself at the prime minister's car, all while screaming slogans and holding onto a banner that read “Give Women the Vote”.
The suffrage sisters were continuously imprisoned and were brutally fed to put a stop on their hunger strikes. Sophia noted the crown’s ruthless antics that only seemed to get worse at home and in their acquired colonies. At last, her efforts came to fruition when the Representation of the People Act of 1918 was passed which gave women over 30 the right to vote. This further led to women over 21 acquiring the right to vote in 1928.
The princess turned activist spent the majority of her life in public protests and fighting against the establishment. During the First World War she took to the bedside of wounded Indian soldiers known as ‘Lascars’. Through all her efforts she only ever worked for the upliftment of those who were forgotten by a powerful regime, becoming a part of the most integral movement in human history. Finally being recognised for her bravery, the princess is to be honoured with a commemorative Blue Plaque by English Heritage in London.

Biography --
Lukesh knows their parents never intended for them to have a name European sounding enough because they planned to travel to the United Kingdom. They’re certain their parents never planned to do so. Not even if the opportunity arose. It simply would hurt them too much to be pulled away from their home. To leave family behind. Why would they ever leave AP? What could drive a small family away like that? Well, mostly a whole lot of miscommunication and debt. Lukesh’s father’s brother moved to Manchester to work, the plan was to move his family there too at some point, but instead… he died. Lukesh’s father, as the oldest, then went to the UK to get the body back home. That part at least worked. The body went home. Lukesh’s father did not.
Eventually the whole family, Lukesh’s mother and their three older siblings, all uprooted and joined him in London. Lukesh was born a year later, and it wasn’t until they were thirteen when the debt left behind by the brother was completely paid off, with the whole family working whenever they could.
Lukesh didn’t know better. They went to school, and when they got home, they’d help their mother and father sow. Making dresses, selling dresses, repairing clothes, running errands. Sure, none of the few friends they’d made did any of that, but that didn’t mean there weren’t other kids in the UK who lived this kind of life.
When the debt was finally paid off, the whole house took a deep breath. Now life could truly begin.
But nobody knew what to do with this new found freedom. So it simply continued. The additional money was nice, it bought a better house, a new car, an education for the oldest two.
When it was Lukesh’s turn to want something, they didn’t know what would possibly make them more happy than better clothes. But their mother decided what, their father decided what they’d do with their life, and their siblings dictated who they saw and who they hung out with, what music went into their ears, what movies would be burned into their retina.
They became a police officer because it meant the same type of structure they’d been used to, other people telling them what to do, easy laws to follow, hierarchy. Certainly that would be a happy life.
The opportunity to do something more presented itself. And Lukesh found it was so easy to take it: to suddenly want something. And now that they could want everything, and they could have it, the sky was the limit. There were no limits. If you played your cards right and didn’t let anyone see the fruits of your labour, there were no limits.
Freedom was sudden and bright and hot, and Lukesh embraced it with both hands and let it set them ablaze.

Boysie singh
Boysie Singh was a notorious Trinidadian killer who was eventually hanged for murder in the mid-1950s.Born at 17 Louis Street, Woodbrook, on April 5, 1908, he grew up to be a gambler, thief, arsonist, pirate, and mass murderer.Singh’s father Bhagrang Singh was himself a fugitive from justice, who reportedly fled India to Trinidad.
Singh started doing petty crime, even spending time at Carrera Island Prison in the 1940s.Following prison, he ran gambling clubs and brothels, moved on to the protections racket, and was known to set fire to cars or buildings when "clients" would not pay up.Later, he smuggled goods from Cedros to Caracas, then resorted to piracy. From 1947 to 1956, Singh and his henchmen terrorised local fishermen and Venezuelan smugglers. They would kill a crew, steal their goods and engines, and sink the boat.Singh broadened his criminal reach to include human trafficking, smuggling illegal immigrants some of whom he would rob or kill.
Along the way, it is reported, he murdered hundreds of people. Legend has it that some victims were made to "walk the plank", in the tradition of old-time Caribbean pirates, and plunge to their death at sea.Twice, Singh was charged by the police. In one case, he got off due to lack of evidence. In the other, he was convicted but won on appeal and was released.Eventually, Singh's luck ran out when he was convicted for the murder of a dancer. All appeals failed, and he was sentenced to death.Boysie Singh was hanged at the Royal Gaol in Port-of-Spain on August 20, 1957.

One dawn in late July, Sunil found a fellow scavenger lying in the mud where Annawadi's rut-road met the airport thoroughfare. Sunil knew the old man a little; he worked hard and slept outside the Marol fish market, half a mile away. Now the man's leg was mashed and bloody, and he was calling out to passersby for help. Sunil figured he'd been hit by a car. Some drivers weren't overly concerned about avoiding trash-pickers who scoured the roadsides.
Sunil was too scared to go to the police station and ask for an ambulance, especially after what was rumored to have happened to Abdul. Instead he ran toward the battleground of the Cargo Road dumpsters, hoping an adult would brave the police station. Thousands of people passed this way every morning.
Two hours later, when Rahul left Annawadi for school, the injured man was crying for water. "This one is even drunker than your father," one of Rahul's friends teased him. "Drunker than your father," Rahul retorted unimaginatively as they turned onto Airport Road. Rahul wasn't afraid of the police; he'd run to them for help when his neighbor dumped boiling lentils on Danush, his sickly baby. Unidentified body, the Sahar Police decided without looking for the scavenger's family. Died of tuberculosis, the Cooper Hospital morgue pathologist concluded without an autopsy.

SUZU-KAHE-KI?
Hirotaka thought of fulfilling his long-standing dream which was Kizashi. Suzuki has been showcasing a concept car named Kizashi in different motor shows for a long time.
The concept 1 of Kizashi was showcased in 2007. Then again concept 2 was shown in 2007.
And then in 2008, the Kizashi Concept 3 was shown at the New York International Auto Show.
In 2011, Maruti Suzuki aimed for the stars with the Kizashi. This sleek, sporty sedan promised European handling, punchy power, and a shift towards a premium image. The car itself was a technical marvel, with a responsive engine and sharp dynamics. But despite its brilliance, the Kizashi's Indian journey was tragically short-lived, selling a mere 5,000 units.
Secondly, Suzuki's brand image in India was at odds with the Kizashi's aspirations.
Buyers associated Suzuki with affordable, fuel-efficient cars, not sporty sedans. The Kizashi's premium positioning felt like a disconnect, leaving potential buyers confused. Finally, the lack of a crucial diesel engine option, essential for fuel economy in India, dealt the final blow.

in Euro NCAP and all other NCAPs. Now this car was very good but still, in 2014, Suzuki discontinued it in India and then in 2015 it completely disappeared from the world.
And after this, Suzuki never launched a proper D-segment car And as soon as the car came into the market, it proved that even a Suzuki car can be made big and powerful enough to compete with Honda and Toyota and even the Germans. This vehicle received very good ratings and within the first year of its launch, it also received two awards from Auto Pacific in America for annual vehicle satisfaction. Also, this car received two motoring awards in New Zealand in 2010 and according to Consumer Digest, it was a Best Buy car in 2011.
The big problem with this car was people were not buying it. And this was not happening only in India but also in the US market, only 5000-6000 units were being sold annually,
in Canada, only 600-700 units were being sold and in Japan, only 3379 units
were sold from 2009 to 2015. out of which 1 quarter of the car was purchased
by Japan's national police agency alone.
that Kizashi was one of the most powerful sedans available in India. It was Suzuki's brand image and this was the thing that Suzuki was trying to change with this vehicle.
Now, we people of India believe that Suzuki can make smaller cars only. Similarly, people all over the world also believe something similar.

A Wall of Text About My OCs
Hi, guys! Uhhhh . . . long time, no see, huh?
Yeah, I got no excuse. I mean, I’ve got tons of excuses -- new job, new partner, moving out of my parents’ basement finally -- but still. Sorry for being gone.
*blows dust off the mic* Anyone still out here?
OKAY, so why am I doing this of all things? Because I was reunited with a handful of the Camp Camp people still around and they got to sharing their gorgeous OC art and I . . . do not draw. But I do write! And it turns out, writing about your fanfiction is a whole lot easier than actually writing that fanfiction.
So I can pretend I’m being productive and writing up a reference for future fic writing, while actually just rambling about my OCs like a total dork. Unedited, because this is a bajillion words and took me forever.

Max’s family
Gotcha with that opener, huh? Yeah, I know how to manipulate the fandom after all these years. ;)
Anyway, I think I’ve been fairly vocal about how little patience I have for the whole “Max’s family is abusive and neglectful and totes evil you guys, David should adopt him” thing, which means I went in a different direction. I don’t have a ton on his parents -- I know their names are Reyansh and Anika Sahni, and in terms of personality his dad is more bombastic and his mom is a bit quieter and gentler, but that’s about it -- but I’ve determined that they immigrated from India (where in India? Fuck, idk, I’m an idiot someone suggest a place) and have been working to the bone to get Max a foothold. Their English is decent but spotty because learning languages is really hard as an adult, better spoken than written, which is why they allowed Max to choose his own camp activity (which he didn’t do, because he didn’t want to go in the first place and yes this contradicts things I’ve written in the past shhh we’d only had 1 season at that point), and that combined with their 12-hour-a-day work schedules leaves him thinking they don’t care about him. They do, obviously, but it’s hard to express that when exhausted and struggling.
So Max is kind of a latchkey kid, sent to camp in the summer because it’s better than being left alone in an apartment and Camp Campbell is the best they could afford. Max resents them a lot, partly because he doesn’t really understand everything they’re sacrificing for him and partly because he doesn’t think they’re focusing on the right things; does it matter if he can go to a shitty summer camp if he never eats dinner with both his parents at the same time? Sometimes he lies and says they’re super wealthy and that’s why they’re such workaholics, but it’s mostly to get past the embarrassment of feeling neglected and not having anything special to show for it. But they love him and are doing their best, even if it’s far from perfect, and when Max gets older he’ll understand and appreciate them a bit more.
[Spoilers for my own fic, I guess?] His parents die in a car accident when he’s a teenager -- I haven’t decided when or where, but have in previous one-shots written it as on their way to get him from camp -- and he moves in with his sister. And oh boy, let me introduce you to . . .
Kayla Sahni: A beautiful firebrand with a lot of ideas and virtually no follow-through. She’s around 10 years older than Max, and when he was little they were absolutely best friends. She has a rebellious and revolutionary streak, and would take him to various protests or to graffiti police stations or whatever -- wildly irresponsible, yes, but that’s something she never grows out of. In some ways she’s similar to David, with a streak of optimism a mile wide and a bright, peppy personality of someone that never lets anything get her down, but she’s also incredibly flaky, promising Max all sorts of things as a kid and never following through on them. Her parents often need to rescue her from her bad decisions, with the little money and time they have, leaving Max to feel even more ignored in comparison to his sister. Still, he idolizes Kayla and never blames her for anything that disappoints him, choosing David and his parents as repositories for the resentment and disappointment he gets from her. After their parents die and she has to take him in, Kayla doesn’t change her lifestyle much, still disappearing on random adventures without any warning and leaving Max to fend for himself, and it grates on him just as much as he wishes he could be like and go along with her. She loves her brother -- but really, she loves the idea of him, or the little-kid version of him that lives in her head, who never asked her for anything and hung on every word. Once she has to grapple with spending actual time with the real Max, the conflict between who they are and who they want their sibling to be makes things . . . incredibly messy.
Gwen's family
For the Santos clan, I went with a very Long-Island-elites vibe, extremely wealthy and self-conscious about appearances, which means that Gwen is kind of a mega disappointment (and David even more so, when they meet him). New-money, with the dad definitely a first- or second-gen immigrant, and despite the fact that they made it real big they're still extremely aware of being out of place and in a precarious position. Everyone in this family is terrible at hugging and/or doesn’t understand the point of doing it. All in either law or business . . . and then there's Gwen. Oops.
She spent her childhood being perfectly molded into a little debutante doll (I haven't mentioned it in any fics, but she's a virtuoso pianist from years of being forced to take lessons, and might be good at ballet too?), and as soon as she went to college she fell hard into the boho-hippie-artiste lifestyle as a way of rebelling -- dated a lot of starving artists covered in tattoos, picked majors her parents would never have allowed (which is why she had to pay for her own education and is the only one of the family mired in student debt), the whole shtick.
Cliché, maybe, but I think it's fun and developed all of this back when Season 1 had just finished and all we had to go on was her DESPERATELY not wanting to move back in with her parents.
So, from oldest to youngest:
Harrison: the patriarch. Written well before the episode where she had a canon dad so do not judge me too hard. My description of him makes me laugh so have it word-for-word: ``Harrison Santos was a broad-shouldered Hispanic man almost as large as Mr. Campbell, with tiny glasses perched daintily on his nose and a head as smooth and shiny as an apple. He peered down at David through his glasses, which made his dark purple (almost black) eyes seem much larger and more intimidating.`` Big guy, little glasses; it's always funny. He's a man of few words and lots of judgement. Silent but deadly, you know? I went kinda HAM with the "big scary dad" stereotype, but I needed David to feel entirely inadequate and that helped. He and Gwen don't really have a relationship, partly because he spends so much time working and mostly because they don't understand each other even a little bit and have nothing to talk about. Doesn't much like David, but not for any real reason; maybe because he's not masculine enough, maybe because he's white, definitely because he might be the reason Gwen's still working at that shithole of a camp. (At least David isn't covered in tats and piercings, though. Small mercy.)
Valerie: Extremely beautiful dark-skinned black woman with maroon hair and silver eyes. Some sort of business executive, never thought too hard about what kind. Agonizingly proper, gives off vibes of being the decision-maker in the family, and while she loves Gwen and wants what's best for her, they strongly disagree on what that actually is. Valerie would love nothing more than for her youngest daughter to get a job in a respectable law or accounting firm, marry someone from a good background, and secure the family's legacy, and she's terrified of Gwen ruining her life and/or their reputation. She thinks Gwen is overemotional and irrational and it permeates every conversation they try to have; she's pretty concerned David is a gold-digger, as well, and even if he isn't, playing in the dirt for pennies is a pretty humiliating occupation.
Samson (Sam/Sammy): Gwen's oldest brother. Ngl I have very little about him except that he's a nice guy, which is kinda rare in Gwen's family so that's kinda noteworthy. Dark-skinned like their mother, curly green-black hair that he keeps out of his face with a barette, very deep voice. I know Gwen was really close with him and his wife/kids before they moved across the country, and she's had trouble losing one of her only allies in the family.
Leon (Lee): Sam's fraternal twin. Kinda a shithead -- actually, no, definitely a shithead. Disaster bisexual; his major interactions with Gwen so far have been stealing one of her boyfriends, humiliating David at a family gathering, and flying out to Camp Campbell to try and get them back together after they broke up because he thought it was his fault and felt bad about it. A really successful accountant, but in his personal life he's a total playboy and never seems to take anything all that seriously. He loves Gwen, in his own way, but he's honestly too selfish to really be a good brother to her at all. Thinks every life decision she's ever made is absolutely hilarious, and has no problem telling her and the rest of the family that; every misfortune she has is another episode in the Gwennie's Fuckups Show, which is his favorite. Has a perpetual smirk. Dark green curly hair, lavender eyes, and more of a family resemblance to Gwen than probably any of her other siblings in terms of facial structure and mannerisms. In some AUs, where Gwen’s family lives in Sleepy Peak instead of NYC, Lee is Dirty Kevin’s high school boyfriend; their breakup wasn’t pretty.
Audree (Dree): An angel. My wife. I would die for her. Okay, no, let’s try to be serious here . . . Audree’s the only other daughter in the family, and Gwen’s big sister. She’s a successful lawyer with a killer fashion sense and generally stays out of trouble, which means she attracts a lot less negative attention than Gwen ever could and is considered something of the golden daughter. She’s a lesbian and definitely a bit of a flirt, but also the type who ends up perpetually bouncing back between “extremely serious relationship” and “single forever.” Extremely charismatic, but she’s also kind of harsh and terrible at being gentle or warm, and a bit of a snob -- not in a cruel way, but in a blind-to-her-own-privilege way that gets her in trouble sometimes with the eventual woman she falls in love with (more on her in a moment). Teal eyes, relatively dark, and I just realized I never assigned her a hair color. Since the rest of the family’s are either reddish or green (Christmas colors!), I’ll go with a fun, fiery red, kind of like Gwen’s lighter shade of hair.
Christopher: Literally a non-entity. Sometimes I forget he’s there, oops. His only contribution to the story is that he went off to California to run a surf shop and Sam eventually went along with him. Maybe I’ll give him a personality someday, but right now he mostly exists as “the other fuckup beside Gwen” in their family’s eyes.
Eric: Another virtual nonentity, but one I’ve put a weird amount of thought in. He’s basically a carbon copy of his mother -- very put-together, prim, fastidiously perfect -- despite looking more like his dad (in terms of skin tone and eye color, anyway; he’s very willowy, not buff). He’s very feminine, bordering on foppish, but definitely not gay; I haven’t decided if he’s bi (like every other character I get my hands on) or just a fairly girly straight guy, but either way he’s really self-conscious about it. Probably would resent David for reminding him of that, because let’s be real, David isn’t exactly the most masc person in the world either. His only sense of humor is a cruel one, and he’s always been and probably always will be a hell of a bully -- not the beating-people-up Nurf kind, but in a subtler, mean-girl way. If you cross him, he’ll probably get you fired, is what I’m saying. He’d have made an excellent Woodscout if his family hadn’t signed him up for something more prestigious. Staunch Republican, snooty, and while he worships and idolizes his parents, I’m not sure he actually loves anyone. Of all of Gwen’s siblings, Eric is probably the one with the fewest redeeming qualities, but sometimes it’s fun to have a villain waiting in the wings in case I need him.
And then there’s poor little Gwennie. Doing her best.
David’s family
I’ve talked about the Pine/Greenwoods in the past, but I can’t find the post so let’s do it again!
David’s family is a lot smaller than Gwen’s -- at the moment it’s just him and his mom, though his dad has intermittently been in and out of the picture. His parents got divorced when he was 14 (right after Jasper died, which was pretty rough on poor Davey), and since then he’s maybe seen his father once or twice? His mom basically raised him, and they’re absurdly close.
Harvey Greenwood: Another villain! He has aggressive Cameron Campbell vibes, but happens to be an even bigger monster. He got Cynthia pregnant when he was 30 and she was 17 -- ew, gross, very bad -- and married her as soon as she graduated high school. They managed to keep things together until David was a teenager, at which point all illusions of a stable relationship shattered and he took off. David knows he’s married and has a family, and periodically receives birthday cards (never on his birthday, never the correct age, and always addressed to Cynthia’s house because he can’t be bothered to remember where David lives), but otherwise his dad is AWOL. He’s the American to David’s half-American nationality, and while David inherited his bright red hair and green eyes, that’s about all they have in common. I just like big, masculine dads, I guess, because he’s also built like a Campbell -- I think it’s fun to mess with David’s sense of inferiority on that regard, because I’m cruel -- and has a big ol’ mustache. I did realize too late that this does sound like a jacked-up version of Harvey from Stardew Valley, and I feel terrible about it. SDV Harvey deserves better.
Cynthia Pine: A sweet Canadian cinnamon roll who’s never done anything wrong in her life, and never will. She’s a librarian in a middle school, so she’s very used to handling difficult people and is generally tough as nails, but with a sunshiny bubbliness that she passed on to David; she taught him how to smile in the face of everything going wrong, and is his biggest inspiration and hero. Like I mentioned, she was just a kid when she got married and had David, and her marriage was far from a happy one -- with all the affairs, neglect, and gaslighting Harvey did, it was probably in some ways a relief when he finally left, even if it meant she had to go from a stay-at-home mom to a breadwinner. She worked a lot after the divorce, meaning that David had to take on a lot of the household responsibilities and she didn’t get to spend as much time with him as either of them would’ve liked, but they’re still extremely close despite it, in an “us against the world” kind of way. She’s fiercely protective of her son, and while she likes Gwen and would never say a word against her, she’s definitely not comfortable trusting anyone the way David is. Which she considers a success, because she wants nothing more than for David to go through life having the joy and innocence she didn’t get to. Anyway, she’s real little, very young, with childlike features, lots of freckles, and thin blonde hair like duck fluff. She’ll kill you, don’t get me wrong, but she’d never get convicted because she’s so sweet and gentle-looking.
In addition to the actual family, we have David’s “family”:
Father Ray: Listen, I was going through an existential crisis during 2018 or so, and I needed to work out my religious angst with a non-homophobic religious figure. Therefore, we have a priest of one of those rainbow-flag churches, who took David in when he was young (his mom is very religious) and basically kept him from self-destructing without a father figure. I don’t have much to say about him, except that he was kinda there when I needed a non-shitty Christian in my own life. He probably won’t be in the story again, but I have a soft spot towards him anyway.
Julia Winters: Ohhhh boy, it’s our best girl. Julia’s technically not an OC in the classic sense -- there was a picture in Season 1 that showed David and Jasper as little campers:
And there’s a purple-haired girl that @hopefullypessimistic84 adopted and made her own -- but it doesn’t matter because I want to talk about her, she’s perfect. (I feel like I’ve mentioned her in the past, but I seriously can’t find any of my old posts because Tumblr is the worst, so here we are.)
Julia, Jasper, and David all met during their first year of camp; I think Julia and Jasper were closer in the beginning because Jasper was Camper Extraordinaire and Julia was actually kind of excited about camp at first . . . Eventually she realized that camping sucked and befriended David, and at some point David and Jasper were thrown together and they became their own little problem trio. They’re all only children, so they considered each other siblings, and though Jasper and Davey’s relationship would obviously change (whether he dies or not), they’d always consider Julia their little sister. Her primary nicknames for David are Sunshine and Red.
She’s an ace lesbian and very uncomfortable around pretty girls. As she gets older she picks up somewhat more of a punk aesthetic, with a motorcycle and a bomber jacket, and gets a career in corporate photography that takes her all over the world. Despite this extremely cool veneer, she cannot stay even remotely chill if a woman flirts with her, and it’s quite cute. She’s somewhere between fat and buff, and could probably easily pick David up and put him over her shoulder. Eventually she’ll meet and fall in love with Gwen’s sister, Audree (probably at gwenvid’s wedding), and it’ll be . . . a little bit awkward, partly because she has no patience for the Santos family and partly because she grew up poor, and she and Dree have some friction over general culture clash. But at the end of the day they’re still an incredibly powerful couple that belong on the cover of the world’s gayest magazine and love each other very much and make me cry.
Anyway, I hope I didn’t forget any major OCs . . . though obviously if I did they can’t have been that important.
I know there are a couple exes of Gwen’s who are especially fun -- like Greg the creepy stalker and Damien, the ex who slept with Lee and then gave her a mannequin head as an apology -- and her roommate Claire gets like two sentences but is an adorable stoner with the personality of a teddy bear, but I think these are the important ones.
Sure wish I could draw literally any of them, though. Sigh.

RECENT NEWS, RESOURCES AND STUDIES, Etsy & Google, early June 2023
Since I have been writing so much in detail about Etsy happenings lately, I didn’t have time to write my usual news summaries. Better late than never, here is what has been happening on Etsy and in the SEO world in general for the past few months.
The bad news is I am on a 2-week road trip as of June 14th, so you may not get the rest of the ecommerce, social media and other news until into July, but I will do my best to get some work done in the car each day without an internet connection.

Etsy sellers in the EU can opt out of Offsite Ads. In fact, even shops from Switzerland can do so. The UK is not currently included, and no one knows which EU law makes this possible.
If Etsy gives you trouble when you try to opt out, keep pushing.
If you ever thought Etsy wouldn’t put your shop on payment reserve, did you know they did it to Katwise? From numerous other reports in the last month or two, Etsy is now putting more shops on reserve for very small increases in recent sales, and plenty of other bizarre reasons. One seller contacted me because the now-on-reserve shop had been empty and unused since May 2022! I’ve updated my blog post with some new details, and have a new list of potential factors. Please let me know if you have recently been put on reserve and if any of the factors - known or suspected - apply to you.
I’ve spent the past few months researching how Etsy’s seller protection plan works in practice, and yes, there are some things you can do to reduce the chance of losing money due to Etsy’s new rules.
ETSY NEWS
In a disturbing development, Etsy sellers in India now must use Etsy Labels for all domestic orders. Unfortunately, I don’t expect this will be the last country Etsy does this for, as Etsy is already making it difficult for people in other countries to mark orders as shipped. Anyone experiencing this issue can avoid it by using the app, by buying labels on sites with automatic integrations with your shop (so the order is marked shipped immediately), or by trying this tedious workaround on every order.
As I previously reported in beta, Etsy introduced a “Make an Offer” option for US vintage sellers in April.
Etsy is pulling the usual last-minute attempt at complying with new laws by having some sellers re-verify info before the INFORM Act takes effect in the US.
Etsy’s Annual Transparency Report shows that their technology is mostly flagging items that aren’t prohibited on Etsy, even after a few years of adopting this automated approach. I cover it in detail on Tumblr. If you are interested in how search is working these days, definitely read my post! This could explain some items suddenly getting no views.
Speaking of which, the latest glut of bot takedowns involved several different areas:
handmade items, often best sellers from successful shops. Some have not been successful getting the listing reinstated after several days of trying
drug paraphernalia, usually for items that aren’t even remotely drug-related
listings making medical claims, which now includes mentioning the FDA. Read the updated Medical Claims policy here.
Despite this supposed increased effort of Etsy policing the site, the counterfeit accusations against the Etsy marketplace continue to percolate through the media and blogosphere, with some noting that both counterfeit and basic reselling [Glossy; soft paywall] hurt genuine handmade and vintage sellers. If you prefer video on the Citron report, here’s one from Yahoo.
Then this Washington Post article [gift link; no paywall] got a lot of attention regarding dropshipping and how you can get a lot of the same things cheaper on Alibaba; there was also an investigation in the UK that came to the same conclusion.
Etsy even addressed the negative media attention in the first quarter report, which I covered on Tumblr as usual. In case you missed it, the fourth quarter of 2022 is here.
If you use abandoned cart coupons, note that many shoppers are now receiving them within a few hours of carting your item.
Some sellers - mostly but not all in the UK - discovered they could no longer use the shipping carrier option “Other” on their listings around May 12. Listings already using this option cannot be edited or renewed with more than a quantity of 1. Etsy Support has told many of them that this is intentional, and that they will need to select listed carriers - but Etsy does not offer some of the common Royal Mail or other carrier options in their coding. This removal also prevents sellers from using extended delivery dates when the official ones are too optimistic, putting them at risk of forced refunds under the Purchase Protection Program.
Canadian sellers now get reduced Tracked Packet (US) rates for Canada Post through Etsy Labels, but there are several problems with the offer. It’s only available to people with Solutions for Small Business accounts (many sellers have commercial contracts, which are not eligible for this deal), but the labels purchased no longer count towards Solutions for Small Business tiers. That means you will eventually end up paying more for your non-US labels, and for your labels for other platforms and your website. It therefore isn’t useful for bigger shops that sell to more than the US, or sell through multiple channels.
Also, it appears that you can get a lower rate at Canada Post counters, as well as through eBay as of April 27th. And even if you don’t use any of those sources, tracked packet to the US has been only marginally more expensive than small packet since September, so make sure you compare prices before opting for the untracked method.
Etsy has reintroduced its wedding registry, and included the latest wedding trends in the blog post. This should work better than the first time they did it in 2012, since Etsy now has many more items sold in multiples that can be on dozens of registries without selling out.
The old Etsy seller app was removed from app stores by May 23, and eventually it will not work any more.
As mentioned in a previous update, now that Etsy has brought on “tens of thousands” of new sellers in India, they are working on attracting buyers in the country.

A new listing page is currently being beta tested and should be available to all sellers now, but you can opt out if you have it.
Etsy Up was held in mid-May, and all of the sessions are available online now. Most of it is rather bland advertising for Etsy, although new sellers may learn some things.
The somewhat-depressing story of how one tech writer managed to open an Etsy shop in a week with all AI-designed artwork and print on demand services. “I created a series of four retro-futuristic puzzles. The MidJourney prompt was merely this: retro-futuristic. The results were just so good that I decided to use them as-is.” Note this still took a lot of editing and time, plus skill with the AI-art generator used.
Reminder that Etsy knows it doesn’t have to keep every seller happy, just most of them [Fortune; paywall]. Josh Silverman said "...with 5.4 million sellers, no matter what you do, you’ll find 100,000 sellers that aren’t happy... We’re trying to create an ecosystem with the right incentives so most of our sellers can succeed." [my emphasis]
SEO: GOOGLE & OTHER SEARCH ENGINES
Chat bot/AI search is the SEO hot topic of 2023 so far, but the commentary varies widely, and offerings are changing almost daily. Therefore, I will provide very few articles on the topics for the foreseeable future, since they are often going to be out of date by the time you read them. A few exceptions this time around:
One author suggests that AI will change SEO by making social media and question answering more important.
Google is building a new AI search engine, while adding new AI features in the existing engine.
“If your content isn’t better than what AI can produce, it’s not worth making.”
There are currently at least 7 types of queries that Google doesn’t use AI chat to respond to. [Twitter thread]
You can use Chat GPT to build Chrome extensions that complete SEO tasks and functions [I admit I can see this sort of thing being very useful for those of use who aren’t pro coders]

Since so much has happened since my last news summary, you may want to skim through update lists to make sure you didn't miss anything. Everything important that happened with Google in February is covered here (by Search Engine Roundtable), and here is March, then here is April, and finally, May.
Google’s March Core Update saw big increases for some shopping sites, including Amazon and eBay, plus media and government sites. Etsy seems to have dropped a fair amount, but this is just one study. Poshmark was also down.
Want your images to show up in regular Google organic search (as opposed to Google Image search)? The quality of the page as well as the image itself can be important. The number of photos or images on the page may contribute.
Ecommerce SEO is both the easiest and the hardest it has ever been right now. You need to do more than just post products. [slide deck]
Google updated its advice on linking, to now include advice on anchor text (aka link text) and internal links, among other changes.
Title tags - the words that show up as your page title on Google and in the browser tab - can affect clicks beyond just keyword use.
Want to show up for Google’s featured snippets? (They’ve changed recently) You may need to edit the page in a few different ways.
Just 16 companies (and all of their subsidiaries) control most of the top-ranking pages in Google searches. This is an old study with newly-updated information.
A lot of small business owners ask me what “keyword difficulty” really means. Part of the problem is that different tools calculate it differently. [article has tips on how to approach the issue]

Punch Out AU: Archie Comics AU
I love the Archie Comics and here's an AU based on it. What if Punch Out characters were living together in the little town known as Riverdale?
Little Mac: After moving to Riverdale with his adoptive family, Macintosh Sanders or Mac for short, made new friends with Archie and the Gang, he's also friends with others who also move to Riverdale as well, including Mika, Birdie and so many others. Mac is both smart and athletic, even though people would often made fun of his short structure but he has a good heart and a great heart.
Star Mika: Mac's childhood friend from middle school who just moved to Riverdale after her dad got a new job as police commissioner. Mikaela Florence Tiongson is very sweet, kind and always lend a helping hand, a straight A student and student council president. She's a multipotentialite, meaning that she on many different interests and hobbies and she's also an otaku by heart who has a love for cosplaying. Mika also has a crush on Joe, the French teacher but she somehow got into a love triangle with Aran and Don, making her somewhat the alternate opposite to Archie. And if anyone can rival Betty's baking, then Mika is that person.
Doc Louis: Louis James Sanders, better known as heavy weight boxer Doc Louis, is Mac's adoptive father and is good friends with Coach Clayton. He owns a small gym in Riverdale and has a love for chocolate.
Glass Joe: Joseph Le Verre or Joe for short, is a French teacher in Riverdale High who teaches, well French of course. He's often called 'Glass Joe' due to getting his jaw broken every time he tries to do sports, Joe also knows that Mika has a crush on him so he started developing feelings towards her even though their ages are different.
Von Kaiser: Viktor Von Kaiser is a strict boxing instructor who works in Doc's gym and he teaches boxing to young children. Even though he's strict, he's a bit of a scaredy cat and often say 'Mami (Mommy)' whenever he's scared or often gets startled.
Disco Kid: Dean Martin Sanders is Mac's adoptive brother who is a year older than him although he goes to the same school as he's brother. Dean is a lover for disco dancing and has a bit of an 80's aesthetic which he often has given the nickname of 'Disco Kid' due to his talent for dancing. He's also Chuck's wingman when it comes to finding ideas for Chuck's dates with Nancy.
King Hippo: Maui Māhoe is a mute Hawaiian who comes from the mysterious place known as Hippo Island and is the heir to the throne but he decided to have a normal life with his adoptive Hawaiian family in Riverdale. He was given the nickname 'King Hippo', due to him grunting and eating a lot, sort of Jughead's opposite counterpart.
Piston Hondo: From Tokyo, Japan, Takeo Hondo is the son of the CEO of a car company and if anyone can rival Betty's knowledge of auto mechanics, then it's Hondo who's the one. He was given the nickname 'Piston Hondo', due to his skills in auto mechanics and he's also the guy who will fix any car of his friends.
Bear Hugger: A great jolly man who's similar to Santa Claus, Bryan Harris is a Canadian man who works at Riverdale's Lumber Mill. He's a nature lover, a down to earth person and has a pet bear and squirrel named Mr. Bear and Chipper, that's why people would often call him 'Bear Hugger'. He loves the maple bacon burgers at Pop Tate's and often tell stories about the days in the forest to the 'youths' as he would describe teenagers.
Great Tiger: Ranjeet Patel is Raj's cousin from India. He's got magic powers that no one can understand and often helps Raj with his films since he supports his dreams. He's given the nickname 'Great Tiger', due to his love for tigers and has magic abilities.
Don Flamenco: Raphael Santa Cruz, better known by his nickname as 'Don Flamenco', is a Spanish exchange student who comes from a long line of matadors or bull fighters. He's also a bit of a ladies man, a real charmer that can rival both Archie and Reggie for girls' heart. Even though he already has a girlfriend name Carmen, he's in a love triangle with Mika and Aran, making him the alternate counterpart to Veronica.
Aran Ryan: Aran Conor Ryan is an Irish bad boy and is Reggie's rival when it comes to pulling pranks. If Reggie is worse, then Aran is 10x way worse than him. He often brings bad luck whenever someone tries to tick him off or make fun of his friends, then you better watch out for this feral menace. He's the somewhat Betty counterpart in the love triangle between Don and Mika.
Soda Popinski: The Russian employee at Pop Tate's, Ivan Grigoriy Paccewich, better known as 'Soda Popinski', loves soda and would often try to cheer any customer down with his signature flavors of soda. Pop and Soda would often be named 'The Fizzy Duo', due to their love for finding ways to cheer up customers with just a soda in one hand and an ice cream scoop in the other.
Bald Bull: Burak Deniz Agha is a security guard at Riverdale High and would often catch anyone trying to sneak off of campus. He was given the nickname of 'Bald Bull', due to his lack of hair and anger issues, he's also camera shy.
Super Macho Man: The very rich and 'very strong' Steven Marley or better known as 'Super Macho Man', the face of Curly Cola and swimming coach at Riverdale High. Steve loves posing for the picture and guess who's Steve's biggest? None other than Reggie Mantle, who sees 'Mr. Marley or Coach Marley' as his idol.
Mr. Sandman: The serious Geography teacher, Mr. Samuel Elliot Sands or the students prefer to call him 'Mr. Sandman', since he always check the time, an early bird and night owl at the same time. He's a very close family friend to the Claytons and the Sanders and whenever he feels overtired, he would often sleep in his desk when the class is doing an activity.
(Bonus: Super Punch Out)
Birdie: Billy Byrd is Mika and Mac's childhood friend from middle school and the jokester of the trio. He's been called 'Birdie', due to being speedy and fast, the star of track and field.
Gabby Jay: The school librarian Gabriel François Lavigne or Gabby Jay for short, he's Joe's somewhat grandfather figure since he would often gives him advice and works part time as a waiter in Pop Tate's. He's also currently dating Doc, despite Mac's and Birdie's dismay but Mika thought it was romantic.
Bob Charlie: The class comedian Baron Ajani Whyte or Bob Charlie for short, if anyone who can rival Disco Kid's moves then it's got to be Bob Charlie. Bob is a very mellow and calm guy, your typical 'hippie' but he can get ticked off whenever someone plays really loud music.
Dragon Chan: Haitao Chen, better known by his friends as 'Dragon Chan', is the club president of the Martial Arts/Kung Fu Club and Hondo's best friend. Dragon is always quick to think however he would often gets reminded by his friends or his 祖父 (grandfather), Hoy Quarlow.
Piston Hurricane: Alejandro Bembe González, better known as 'Piston Hurricane', is Birdie's rival in track and field and bookworm who would often hang out with Moose and Dilton.
Masked Muscle: Riverdale High's very own luchador, Santiago Ángel Hernández or by his stage name 'Masked Muscle'. Santiago is a bit of a prankster, always trying to one up with Aran and Reggie but he often flirts with girls, much to the dismay of Don, Archie and Reggie.
Heike Kagero: Riverdale High's fashion king and kabuki dancer, Heike Kagero. He loves hanging out with some of the girls in school and because he became so popular due to his long hair, often getting mistaken for a girl himself.
Mad Clown: Leonardo Esposito, better known as 'Mad Clown', runs the Riverdale Children's Hospital as both a doctor and an entertainer. He used to be an opera singer until he retired from the stage.
Narcis Prince: Nathaniel Howard Prince, is your typical narcistic pretty boy who would often rival with Veronica and Cheryl due to their families' wealth. He was given the nickname of 'Narcis Prince', due to his narcistic personality and mannerism. The only friends who support him are Mika, Aran (sometimes), Birdie and Heike.
Hoy Quarlow: Hoy Xu Quarlow is Dragon's grandfather and teaches kung fu lessons at home. Even though he may look old but he's stronger than you think.
Rick and Nick Bruiser: Richard Phillips and Nicholas Phillips, better known as the 'Bruiser Brothers', are your typical jocks/delinquents however they both have different personalities: Rick is rowdy, cheerful and lazy while Nick is smart, serious and quiet. Both would often support each other and often people would mistaken them for identical twins.

What The Leap In Imlie Should Have Been...
Word count: ~2900 words
Thank you for your patience in advance :)
The tragic deaths of Imlie and Aryan Singh Rathore break more hearts than it ever joined. Perhaps the most painful part was that both Aryan and Imlie had so much more to offer and they left the world without fulfilling any of the dreams they had.
But like a phoenix, Imlie Jr rises from the ashes of her parents and is the dream of Imlie and Aryan Singh Rathore.
23 years later, Imlie Jr is the best of both her parents. Ruthless, generous, shrewd, streetsmart, ethical and loyal. A devout follower of Sita Maiyya, and a business genius. One of the youngest and most successful media entrepreneurs who runs Bhaskar Times - domestic and international.
Despite being younger than her older sister - Cheeni - who chose to settle in Pagdandiya (PD) after the deaths of Imliya and Hero ji - Imlie Jr pampers her Didi. Both sisters know just enough about the crack between their mothers and how it divided their families, and one of Imlie Jr’s goal in life is to never let history repeat.
Cheeni is, gentle, mature with almost a disturbing level of calmness. She is as beautiful as an idol carved of stone - and perhaps has become one. She is raised under the influence of Meethi, Satyakam and Rupi (who despite hating Malini from the bottom of her heart, could not leave her blood behind, after all, Cheeni is Rupi’s brother’s child).
Cheeni is careful about every step she takes, for she wants to be anything but her mother. And her dying mother’s words haunt her. Maybe one day she will be good enough to deserve her Imliya’s love.
Cheeni often clashes with local lawyer Ayaan (he helps villagers pro bono), a charmer who takes great fun in poking the unperturbed Cheeni.

An example of a scene in fancanon I’ve written
Ayaan rushes out of his office, police officers in tow. Cheeni is confused, what is the new problem in PD? Unfortunately it’s something that hasn’t changed in over 20 years - the forced marriage of a teenager and an adult for they were found together.
Cheeni rushes to save the teen, unheeding the advice for all to not take law into her hands.
Someone watches the scene from afar, in a BMW.
“Yeh dekho! Yeh kalmoohi humein sahi ghalat sikha rahi hai,” (Watch as this woman with black deeds is trying to teach us what’s right) Cheeni is unaffected. Such words have been long repeated. However, the person from the car grips the steering when she hears this.
One man strikes to hit Cheeni for preventing the marriage - but it never hits her.
Rather a fist meets his face, the stick falls, and the sun shines as Imlie Jr enters the scene. She removes her sunglasses, barely breaking a sweat while kicking a few people around before thrusting money into their hands.
At first the people and Cheeni are shocked by Imlie Jr’s blatant attempt to buy people off.
However, they accept it and the teen is saved. Because such people easily have a price.
The disgruntled groom removes the garland and shoves the teen away, happy to have escaped the clutches of these men. He goes to thank Imlie Jr who grabs his collar instead,
“Don’t you dare misbehave with her. She’s a freaking child!” Imlie Jr growls, before throwing him aside. She smiles as Cheeni immediately cares for the teen.
Cheeni throws her arms around Imlie Jr, thanking her for arriving at the right time.
“I didn’t come to save you Cheeni Di, I came to save the goons from you,” Imlie Jr kids, smiling as Cheeni scowls.
However the elders want to commit a scene at these two women for breaking ‘rituals’ when the MLA of the area is summoned. And that MLA, ready to flex his power, shakes when Imlie Jr is the person he’s confronting.
The young owner of the most powerful media channel in India.
Later, at home, a worried Rupi yells at Cheeni for having behaved without thinking! What if Imlie Jr wasn’t there on time? What if something happened to Cheeni?
Cheeni: “Aap nahi samjhenge Rupi Maasi. PD ko sudhaarna meri jeevan ka maqsat hai. Apne aap ko saabit karna meri maqsat hai.” (you won’t understand Rupi Maasi, my aim is to fix PD. My aim is to prove myself)
Rupi: “Prove karne se kya hoga Cheeni,” (what will you gain by proving?)
Cheeni: “Khoon mera gandha hai Maasi, khayal mujhe rakhna hoga.” (my blood is dirty, aunt, I need to take care)
Rupi: “Kabhi kabaar zyaada acha karne se haalat aur kharab ho jaata hai. Itna obsess bhi mat ho ja. Khoon ek na ek din apna rang dikhayega. Malini ki kharaabi tujhme ek din chalkega-” (sometimes doing too much good might ruin things. don’t be obsessed about it for blood truly shows itself one day. Malini’s misdeeds may just show up in you)
Imlie Jr *thunders*: “Malini Maasi bura nahi thi!” (Malini aunt wasn’t bad!)
And to Cheeni: “Aur didi, you never have to prove anyone anything.”
And then, to Rupi: “Rupi Maasi. Teen baat.
Pehli, it is high time that we change the narrative. Sirf Malini Maasi ki ghalti thi nahi. It was your brother, Aditya Kumar Tripathi, who led her to madness that ruined both our mothers. Uska phela hua raita ab bhi saaf kar rahe hai. (First / Just Aunt Malini wasn’t wrong / We’re still cleaning his messes)
Dusri, agar khoon hi itna badi determining factor hai toh aapko hum maasi kyun bulate hai? Khoon se aap Cheeni Di ki bui aur humare kuch bhi nahi, haina? (Second, if blood is the determining factor then why do we call you as our mother’s sister when you’re Cheeni Di’s father’s sister and nothing to me?)
Imlie Jr grabs Cheeni’s hand to leave when Rupi interrupts, “Aur teesri?” (And third?)
To which Cheeni grins and says, “Kya Maasi? Woh toh khandaani udhaar rahegi na!” (What Aunt! Of course the third one is owed) to which Imlie Jr winks and responds “Je fire!”

Back to overall plot
To an outsider Imlie Jr has everything - money, fame, success, power and ethics. However, only Cheeni is aware of how Imlie has everything except acceptance at the Rathore household.
The matriarch of the house, Narmada, long severed any connection between her and her grandchild. For once she had melted, hearing the “udhaar” from Imlie Jr’s mouth. And that only reinforced her hatred. Imlie Jr’s naamkaran left her son dead.
Broke her family to bits and pieces. She cannot tolerate the fact that her grandchild is the reminder of Aryan and Imlie.
So despite living the dreams of success Aryan and Imlie had, Imlie Jr quietly lives with the guilt of her parents’ deaths - a perspective Cheeni convinces Imlie against.
On quiet nights you’d hear the older sister counsel the younger one that Imlie Jr is her parents’ dream, not the death of it.
While Imlie Jr protects Cheeni from the world, Cheeni protects Imlie Jr from family.
And Imlie Jr is desperate to rewrite the history between Malini and Imlie through her and Cheeni’s relationship.
So in their room, there are pictures of the happy days between Malini and Imlie. When they recognized kinship and lived the brief joys of sisterhood. The only memory Imlie Jr wants to encourage.
However, doom is written in their lives. In the names of Atharv and Agni.
Agni is the arrogant antihero, a rival media channel mogul who is eager to capture Bhaskar times.
And Atharv is a flamboyant, intelligent star journalist who immediately gets Imlie Jr’s attention and Cheeni’s heart.
The fun thing is, these two men mirror Aryan and Aditya!
Like Aryan, Agni ends up being a reluctant frenemy to Imlie Jr where they end up having solid trust due to long standing ethical enmity. The term “a known enemy is better than an unknown friend” applies to him!
And Atharv, introduced like a hero, is the one who is actually playing with both the sisters. He’s attracted to the power Imlie Jr holds, as well as to the stability Cheeni provides.
Cheeni is attracted and falls deeply for Atharv, believing that perhaps there is destiny involved in matching her and Atharv. But Imlie Jr too finds herself drawn to Atharv, except there’s always a niggling vibe about him.
Despite knowing the whole world, Imlie Jr is naive in the world of love - much like her mother.
Cheeni’s feelings intensify as Atharva gives her a space where she doesn’t have to prove herself, be loved sans the past of her parents hanging. Imlie Jr finds the instant attraction with Atharv, a spark she was too busy to find in her life.
But Imlie Jr’s feelings are broken when she understands Cheeni harbours love for Atharva. And they’re also faded as the weird enemy/friendship with Agni intensifies over time.
While Atharva tries to convince Imlie Jr he is hers, despite the fact his family approves of Cheeni more, Imlie Jr breaks away from every attachment. Jealous at the proximity between Agni and Imlie Jr and nursing a bruised ego, Atharva courts Cheeni openly.
Cheeni refuses to believe her sister is the thorn in her life, but grandmother Anu returns - satisfied to see history repeating and getting an opportunity to execute her own revenge through Cheeni. Imlie Jr must pay for Malini’s death and unhappiness.
Cheeni is disturbed learning how Imliya had interfered into a much committed Aditya-Malini relationship and is unable to unsee the parallels between Malini and Cheeni’s lives.
For the first time, Malini’s dying words seem like truth.
Imlie Jr senses Atharva’s intentions and when she tries to interfere between Atharva and Cheeni - she gets called out.
The sister who always shielded her, accuses her of breaking everything. Maybe there is a reason why Arylie died when Imlie Jr was born.
Cheeni ends up saying things she should’ve never said.
Broken, Imlie finds friendship and more in Agni, while Ayaan is aggravated how Cheeni could be so stupid despite being so intelligent. The answer is - love. A twisted, desperate need for love.
With Cheeni succumbing to the belief that Imlie Jr is trying to break her and Atharva like Imliya broke Malini and Aditya, Imlie Jr is desperate to find a way to save her sister.
And the one way to save Cheeni is to marry Atharva herself - it’s the blackmail Atharva offers.
Cheeni is distraught, Agni is shocked. As an unlikely duo they pair up to prevent the wedding from happening. Much to Anu’s plight, Cheeni is moved by Imlie Jr when she overhears the blackmail.
Agni is glad to have broken the marriage and blackmail, angry at the extent she could go. He ends up confessing his hidden love for her - a fact that shocks Imlie Jr pleasantly. Something she quietly felt too.
Angry, Anu pushes Cheeni to go to any extent to claim Atharva before Imlie Jr and the calculation hits Cheeni when Anu blurts how Cheeni was brought through the world.
No one had mentioned ever that Malini had drugged Aditya to get pregnant.
Before Imlie Jr can process the love confession, Anu decides to bring out all the skeletons to destroy any relationship between the sisters.
Imlie Jr’s world shatters when she learns that the Cheeni she is trying to save is the reason why her mother lost her first child and why her parents were separated for years.
Anu believes she has succeeded when Cheeni goes to meet Atharva, alone at night and Imlie Jr heading out of the city - ignoring Cheeni.
At Sita Maiyya’s temple, Imlie Jr yells all her hidden frustrations and ends up being supported by Agni, who hugs her tightly.
To Anu’s surprise, Cheeni slaps Atharva, clarity washing over her like cold water as she runs out in the rain cursing her luck.
Cheeni kicks Anu away from her life and collapses on the road, begging for relief of the burden of her parents, for some dignity when suddenly there’s no rain over her.
It’s Ayaan, holding an umbrella and extending a hand.
Cheeni is surprised he still has a good opinion of her and he admonishes her for thinking so.
However, there’s Imlie Jr on the road. Her face is devoid of the usual warmth. Frightened, Cheeni begs for forgiveness but instead is met with a roar. Imlie Jr yells at Cheeni, yells at her for thinking Imlie Jr wouldn’t support her, yells at her for thinking that Imlie Jr would choose love over her sister, yells at her for thinking that their parents' murky history would destroy their sisterhood.
Then she takes Cheeni into a bone crushing hug. After breaking the hug, Agni offers to drop Imlie Jr home as Cheeni wants to spend some time alone outside.
En route home, Imlie Jr is still broken over the truth because what truly mattered is that Cheeni knows she’s with her. In reality, Imlie Jr is still struggling to accept the truth.
Ayaan decides to take Cheeni to meet his father - an ever optimist who can give her good advice. Ayaan’s father turns out to be Kunal Chauhan. The one man who truly ever loved Malini. Kunal is moved to see Malini’s daughter and with him she finally gets to meet the memories of the good woman Imlie Jr believed Malini to be.
A Malini that fought for Imlie’s rights. A Malini who captured the shy lawyer’s heart. The woman who had once forgotten her years of love and relationship to support her sister.
On the other hand, Agni and Imlie Jr are having hide and seek of him having confessed his love and she going “but he’s my enemy and my best friend and the guy I’ve been having feelings for”. She dreams of him everywhere and she curses Sita Maiyya for not giving her a break between emotional and romantic drama.
Cheeni comes back home to everyone’s relief - she has finally shed the weight of the past and goes to thank Agni for his help when she realises that in one way, Imlie Jr is finally a child for having not confessed her own feelings!
Cheeni and the rest of the family decide to help Imlie Jr confess her love because like her father, Imlie Jr too has emotional constipation. Arpi and Rupi hilariously recount the days when love was obvious but both Imlie and Aryan were idiots about confessing anything. And looks like Imlie Jr had to get that trait from her parents.
Meanwhile, Ayaan too joins in to help Cheeni - but he’s more fascinated at the opportunity to shamelessly flirt with a flustered Cheeni.
And Agni is surprised that a woman who can close contracts worth millions has nothing to say in response to his “I love you”. Not a yes, not a no.
The closest Imlie Jr ever came to say anything was… “I like your suit,”
The reality is for years Imlie Jr has suppressed her tears, anger, rage and history to set things right. And with that she has forgotten how to express. So saying I love you comes from a lot of vulnerability.
Through a comedy track the family (except Narmada) team up to help Imlie Jr confess her ‘I love you’.
Which Ayaan also uses to confess his love to a happy Cheeni. They later joke that the one way they know Cheeni and Imlie Jr are cousins instead of sisters is because Cheeni said yes in a minute while Imlie Jr took a month!
Finally there’s a double wedding for both the sisters! Except one person has her evil eye on the processions - it’s Anu and her unending thirst for revenge.
The weddings are a lot of fun. On one end Imlie Jr and Agni have their nok jhok, on the other end Ayaan and Cheeni are having their soulmate romance. For Ayaan was the guy who was always in front of her eyes and she never noticed!
Imlie Jr senses something is off with all the rituals but she can’t exactly pinpoint where. Anu tries to poison and ruin all the rituals until Imlie Jr and Cheeni finally confront her.
Because in the larger sense, Anu is the actual reason for all the ruin. She misguided her daughter the most. And in a twisted sense even her hurt has a motivation because Dev cheated on her.
But what has Anu achieved in all these years? Her evil deeds have left her childless. And Malini did what Anu could never do - exact revenge. But what did Malini gain? Apart from traumatising every person she loved and dying as a shell of a person with nothing but hate.
Anu only lost in her years of hate. She killed her own soul and led her only child to ruin. Unable to bear the reality in front of her eyes, Anu is guilty. She begs for forgiveness but while Imlie Jr and Cheeni sympathise, neither can find it in them to forgive her and include her in the family - something that Anu finally understands.
The united stance of Imlie Jr and Cheeni, along with the lesson they teach Anu brings Narmada out of her shell. In the same way she’s doing the same thing Anu did. Losing out on family due to misdirected rage.
Narmada finally embraces Imlie Jr as her own and gives her access to all of Imlie and Aryan’s treasured memories and Imlie Jr cries in happiness - being able to finally connect with her parents.
Then the wedding happens with great joy! Imlie Jr and Agni are teekhi mirchis while Cheeni and Ayaan are nauseatingly cute.
With a glimpse into the future we see Ayaan has opened a full fledged firm to help cases pro bono, Cheeni has her own college that she runs for village girls (she’s a teacher) - funded by Imlie Jr and an anonymous donor (Anu, who is finding ways to repent). Imlie Jr and Agni have a partnership between their companies, still relishing in the delicious rivalry at whose company is more successful and Imlie Jr finally gets an order in signing against any forceful marriage in the village of PD and punishment for those who have actively participated in it.
One day both the sisters take a trip to the highest point of PD and remicise the past, present and the future which has the wonderful people they love.
Cheeni sighs that they’ve gotten their happily ever after to which Imlie Jr corrects and points at the rising sun.
This is just the happy beginning for they have more ahead.
“O suraj chacha, tani ruko, hum dono aawat hai!”
