"Ah-... But not always like that, touch can be so much more than a good lead-up to a romp in the sheets. More visceral and raw than words alone. If my lover knows how to touch me, he won't have to utter pretty words of love; because I'll feel it in my bones, and the ends of my nerves."

River smiles wistfully, "Of course some flowers on occasion would be lovely, too. I rather like sunflowers and tiger lilies."

"If I could make something actually edible, that'd be one way I'd show my appreciation. I like to joke about how the 'quickest way to a man's heart is through the chest', but I'm sure it is actually through the stomach like most say..." She pouts, "Besides my own touch though, I'd just want to do things for the one I love. Be useful. Remember little things about him, to show I'm paying attention."

Twirling a lock of hair around her finger, the faint beginnings of a minxy smirk curl the corner of her mouth.

"Of course I'd eagerly help facilitate an 'early release' from the slammer, too... Can't be Bonnie without my Clyde, now can I?"

Some modern Fallen Angel Vash and Nai thoughts:

The context: Vash's fall from heaven is an accident, and it’s not really a Fall so much as a temporary crash landing on Earth. But while on Earth he gets attached (to the planet, to the people, to one person in particular) and he can’t bring himself to leave. He’s not sure if he’ll ever leave. But it’s not good for him if he stays. Nai tries very hard to convince Vash to return to heaven, even turning to some rather extreme methods. But in his pursuit he also falls, but it's an actual Fall from grace.

Vash’s Fall: Falling for Vash is a very slow and gradual process. It starts with him losing some of his angelic attributes (his halo dimming, losing some of his angelic powers, feeling more human emotions and urges) but eventually devolves into full on corruption. His wings start to turn black, his teeth get sharper, his eyes more predatory. He slowly becomes more demonic looking as the days pass by, and he starts acting that way too. Some of his best traits turn into his worst, and he slowly becomes more possessive and protective of the things he holds dear. He knows that his actions are becoming more obsessive and manipulative, and erratic, and deep down he does feel extremely guilty about what he's doing. But he also believes he's just trying to do what's best to protect the things he cares about, cause he's just so so scared of losing them.

Nai’s Fall: Nai falls and, like Vash, as time goes on he starts to change and lose his angelic powers. However, instead of eventually turning more demonic he just turns more human. He starts losing all his angelic abilities and features, and he has to learn how to regulate his now mortal body (has to learn how to sleep and eat like a regular person). He has to learn how to adapt, and he hates it with every fiber of his being. It makes him feel weak and powerless, and it's just SO exhausting having to commit to keeping his flesh suit functioning. He vehemently claims it's all Vash's fault, but deep down he knows he only has himself to blame.

Further analysis (the Good Stuff) under the cut:

The irony of it all is that the two of them are turning into the things they revile, and it's like god is spitting in both their faces. It's harsh, it's cruel, it's so incredibly unfair.

Nai fell because he's too prideful and wrathful for his own good. Despite being an angel, he detests humanity, sees himself above them, finds their mannerisms and needs pitiful. He thinks humans are weak. It's only fitting for him to be forced to live as the thing he abhors. He could return to heaven eventually, redeem himself, admit to the error in his ways, but he refuses to. Spare him the pity. (Part of him feels he does deserve this though and this is the only way to repent).

Vash fell because he became too human. He learned how to love, he learned how to desire, he ends up feeling too much and letting it take over him. He caves to gluttony, envy, lust; and it just slowly poisons him from the inside out. And it’s so cruel and unfair cause he’s such a kind and gentle soul, and he was only chasing after the things he wanted out of love. And now he's becoming the thing he fears (an unlovable, dangerous, irredeemable monster)

What drives Nai absolutely insane is that Vash can return to heaven at any time. He has every opportunity to return to god's good graces; to return home, where he belongs. But he just keeps throwing it away and letting himself get further corrupted, and for what? Just so he can stick around with these silly humans a moment longer? It's disgraceful. But Vash refuses to listen. He can't bring himself to leave

Vash in turn tries to be understanding of Nai, and really he does understand and feel for his brother’s predicament. He was scared and confused when he crashed on earth too, but at least Nai has Vash to show him the ropes. He doesn’t understand why Nai can’t see the errors in his ways, and when Nai yells at him for choosing to stay on earth he reminds him that he could return too if he just tried to be a little less prideful. But he also can’t help but be a little envious that Nai, who absolutely hates humanity, gets to be human, the thing he wants to be so badly. Instead he’s being turned into a monster.

if I had the ability to draw or edit, I would do a whole dramatization of the twin’s conflict in tristamp to the plagues. legit I have a vision for the whole song. Let me lay this out for you because it is haunting me. Their actual fight happening during the choir portions, the fight intensifying as the voices do. Every time the choir comes in between the portions of the song between the brothers, it’s always the fight in July and eventually the flashback portions move through time enough that they get caught up at the end for the space shit.

Cuts to flashbacks of them together as children. Once I called you brother/Once I thought the chance/To make you laugh/Was all I ever wanted 

Then the first argument/fight they had when they were teenagers in the facility full of dying plants. And even now I wish that God/Had chose another/Serving as your foe on his behalf/Is the last thing that I wanted

Please someone do what I cannot, I just think this would be great. I just really needed to let this idea out into the ether because I’m actually being driven insane. Like put the plagues on and read through this and imagine it, let it seep into your bones, let it keep you up at night and you may suffer as I have as a lowly writer

Lots of things have happened this week and I'm happy

so I went to summer camp and it was really fun

Got a cool new pocket knife, its a steel spring loaded one with a seatbelt/rope cutter and window breaker at the end!

Won an axe throwing event!

Picked up some cool rocks and a feather from either a hawk or screech owl!

I found a sprouted apple seed in an apple I was eating and Now I'm propagating it!

I was able to get a chance at welding to and sorta made a mini hammer thing!

and lots and lots of hiking!

what if the strawhats had different roles on the ship⁉️ i swapped everyone’s roles except for luffy because i can’t imagine him being anything but the captain

these are loose redesigns since their canon designs don’t really read as their roles all that much to begin with. some extra doodles and ideas for this in the cut !!

nami, vice captain: i took a lot of inspiration from her beta design!! canon nami already bosses everyone around so she fits right into the role. she wields an extendable staff (usopp still makes it for her); she lost her arm over the time-skip like how zoro lost his eye. i LOVE drawing cargo pants and boots, so she ended up with a sorta bottom-heavy design. frankly it’s probably not her style but i like how she looks

zoro, the cook: my foolproof logic is zoro uses swords = good with knives. he does not use katanas to cut produce however, just normal knives. i was trying to go for “sweaty ramen guy” with the towel around his neck. the majority of the shit he cooks would probably be drowned in alcohol. he also wears his bandana the majority of the time now!! it completes the ramen guy look

sanji, the sniper: i also took inspiration from his beta design for this!!! he has guns!! and perfect aim of course. i was going for more of a mafioso look so germa 66 would be like, a mafia organization on top of all the other villain shit they already do. he has two guns but i didn’t draw a holster bc that’s annoying🤞 he lights his cigarettes with his guns. how would that even work? don’t ask me

usopp, the navigator: his artistic talent lends itself to creating perfect maps! he also still tinkers, making nami’s staff as well as having a specialty for compasses. he uses a slingshot still (no perfect aim we gotta nerf him) and shoots weather-related projectiles. his goggles serve as binoculars, they can zoom to several different distances. i drew him in his zou outfit purely bc it’s my favorite one

chopper, the helmsman: he would predominately use heavy point while maneuvering the wheel. i changed his hat up to look more like a sailor’s cap, with an anchor symbol instead of an X. to be honest i don’t have much else bc helmsman doesn’t bring much to my mind :(

franky, the musician: ROCK N ROLL BABY YEEAHHH come on his stage presence is unmatched. he’s still a cyborg, he has instruments all over his body like apoo does but they were installed manually. his personality changes depending on what genre he’s playing but rock n roll is his default B) (ex. classical calls for a refined gentleman)

robin, the shipwright: her devil fruit gives her as many helpful hands as she needs! she developed nami’s arm (definitely installed some random shit she did Not ask for). she has a robot mecha that she’s able to pilot all by herself using clones. i changed her orange sunglasses to goggle eyewear

brook, the doctor: the irony of being nursed back to health by a literal skeleton 💀the irony of being the doctor of the rumbar pirates yet being the only survivor, saving no one from the poison 💀 i went for a plague doctor look! IM VERY HAPPY WITH HOW HE TURNED OUT i was really tempted to give him the plague mask too, but i feel that would’ve changed his appearance too much compared to the others

jinbei, the archaeologist: the shape of this man demands a little pair of round glasses on his face. he’s an intellectual i tell you!!! plus still a fishman karate master. the history of joyboy and fishman island being so intertwined is how he developed an interest in history
