I got invited to a wedding, but I misread the invitation and showed up in full welding gear.
(I'm a welder IRL.)

Good news everyone! Welders in Sheffield found a way to weld two pieces of metal together without needing a third agent! A critical component for creating structurally stable space-faring vessels. A few decades from now this will be regarded as one of the greatest scientific and mechanical discovery of our time.

Sculptor Ruth Vodicka welds a steel piece at the Sculpture Center, ca. 1955. Vodicka and her work were featured in the Sept. 10, 1956 edition of Life magazine in advance of her first solo exhibition.
According to Life, Vodicka set up her studio in a New York garage in 1953 and impressed onlookers with both her creative talents and welding skills. Her dexterity with torch and rod soon brought in repair requests for everything from sewing machines to automobile panels. This new sideline brought in money and materials she used to support her own practice.

Just another proud mom moment.
Mini Eagle made his first weld today! Our local manufacturing/engineering college held a "touch a job" event. He got to try out tons of different hands on careers.
I love that the whole world is available to him, I'm excited to see how he changes over the years while he finds his path in life.
Parenting can be a bumpy ride, but so worth all the bumps to watch your kid develop their world. I'm so excited for him as he begins to stretch his wings and test out all that this world has to offer.

"Yukon University is offering a free welding program aimed at women and non-binary people as part of a national effort to encourage underrepresented groups to get into the trade.
The course will be offered starting this spring, in partnership with Yukon Women in Trades and Technology (YWITT). Successful applicants will have their tuition covered and will also get help with other fees, like rent and childcare.
Liz Peredun, YWITT's executive director, said helping with expenses allows students to put the focus and energy on the work itself."
