The way I gasped when I saw six sentence weekend again. I’ve been caught up in a bit of Quarry induced tunnel vision 🤪
But how about some climbing chrash? There may be some content of them coming from me in the near future too ;)
six(ish) sentence weekend ;P
“Aaaaand...voila. The stage has been set.” Just for good measure, he bent down to double-check that he had, in fact, shut the camera off. No harm no foul if he hadn’t - it’d take all of three seconds to give that incriminating little comment the snip-snip in editing - but still, it never hurt to be sure. “These idiots are never going to see this shit coming. I can already see it...the grimaces as their guilt slowly but surely - ”
“Waitwaitwaitwait. Hold up. Just...” From where he sat half-sprawled on the staircase, phone held precariously over his head as he played some pointless game, Cochise did his best to burst Josh’s masterfully-blown bubble. “Before you send that out, I think we gotta have a talk, man. When you said we’re gonna, quote, ‘party like we’re fucking porn stars,’ what the fuck was that supposed to mean?”
Before he could get so much as a peep out, Ashley chimed in from her spot on a nearby armchair, her legs curled up beneath her and a paperback folded in her hands. “Yeah, actually I had the same question. I think you should do another take just to, like, clarify.”
So this was what he got for dating a couple of nerds, huh? Served him fucking right, he guessed.
The camera had been turned off, and thank God for that, because while he couldn’t say with any certainty what kind of look he was rocking at just that moment, Josh knew enough about himself to understand it wasn’t the sort of face he wanted preserved on his harddrive forever and ever amen. In one jerky motion - hopefully enough to drive home the point that he would not be doing another take, thanks very much - he pulled it from off of its tripod and turned to face them. “Clarify,” he repeated, voice flat. “You need me to clarify what I meant by saying - ”
“We’re going to party like we’re fucking porn stars,” Chris finished for him. His phone made a cheery little noise at that. “Yeah. I mean. Maybe? I don’t think Matt or Jess’ll stop when they hear that, but Emily’s kind of a hardass, know what I mean? I feel like she’d text you back trying to pick it all apart like one of those trick questions on the SATs.” Without looking away from his game, he pitched his voice up into an awful, droning valley girl whine, no doubt meant to be an impression of Emily: “Ummm...look, I don’t know who you think you’re talking to, but I am like, sooo not interested in some juvenile little boy-girl makeout party, sooooooooo...”
“By phrasing it like that, ‘party like we’re fucking porn stars,’ you aren’t really giving anyone enough context to, um, understand the purpose ‘fucking’ is serving in the sentence, y’know?” Ashley, at least, had the decency enough to look up from her book as she told him (not in quite so many words) that he was a moron. “Is it a verb? Or an adjective? Because while both are bad, I still think one’s preferable to the other...like...okay, I guess I don’t know...how one would party as if they were having sex with a porn star, is what I’m getting at. Like, is that a good thing?”
The urge to sit down and hold his head in his hands was quelled only by the fact that he didn’t want to set his camera down where either of these idiots could potentially break it. That was the only thing keeping it from happening. “Guess it depends on the porn star, Ash,” he said instead, letting his eyes roll up and up and up towards the vaulted ceiling of the lodge’s main room. “Gotta imagine some of them enjoy the game more than others.”
“Okay, but also? Then the other option, partying like we, ourselves, are the porn stars. That’s not a great image, I guess. But more than that, like, are you insinuating this is going to be some kind of orgy? Because if you are, I mean, Mike’s gonna RSVP, no question, but the others probably won’t, so...”
“Yeah, and if I’m gonna be attending a weekend-long orgy, I’d really prefer one without Mike. Y’know, if at all possible.”
For the first time since drawing up the idea (though not, he suspected, the last) Josh found himself wondering why oh why he’d thought it a good idea to include these two in his revenge plot. He could’ve, he reflected, just done it his own damn self; no one would’ve been around to take a red pen to each of his sinister machinations. As it was, he’d saddled himself with the dork patrol for better or worse.
“I’m not doing another take,” he said decisively, choosing to ignore both of their scoffs. “We’re going to party like we’re fucking porn stars, and that’s fucking final. Now get off your asses - we’ve got pigs to string up in the basement.”

Hello! 🌻 Sorry to disturb you (again) but I jumped at the chance when I saw your post and I propose you Climbing crash ideas for Valentine's day (because clearly I can't get enough of this trio).
As usual, unable for me to choose in the list because everything could be wonderful. So I leave you with my little selection: 18, 30 and/or 39.
Do what you want! I think it's just great to see you writing about our beloved little trio! Thanks and big virtual hugs! 💛
18. playing with hair
"Remind me again why I ever agreed to this," Ashley said tiredly as she was yet again interrupted from the book she was reading. She winced as the hair on the left side of her head was given a small but sharp tug.
Chris's resulting apology was interrupted by Josh, responding to her inquiry with a joyful scoff as he partitioned another part of her hair. "Because you love us, obviously."
"...Remind me why I decided to do something that stupid." Unsurprising, neither of them deigned to answer that burning question of hers so she sighed and tried a different tactic. "Okay fine, can one of you at least tell me why you both needed to braid my hair so bad?"
"Um, to see who the best braider is obviously," Chris pointed out, continuing with his own braid as he once again tugged too hard on a section of her hair. "Shit, sorry."
"And why did you suddenly decide that the burning question of the day was which of you could braid better?"
"Well technically the question was which of the three of us can braid better," Josh pointed out.
Well, that was certainly news to Ashley. She put down her book and tried to turn her head to look at them, but stopped at the cries of outrage that emerged when she did so. "Wait, then it's me obviously. I'm the only one with hair long enough to braid so therefore—"
"No," both Chris and Josh had cut in with such flat refusal that it honestly jarred Ashley a little bit, "you're not."
Before she could even ask just how on earth the two of them could know that, Chris was already explaining. "The fanciest thing you can do with your hair is the quick ponytail you do for studying. Otherwise you just throw your beanie on and call it a day."
Damn, she couldn't argue with that. She'd certainly never even tried to do her own braid, but she still refused to back down without a fight. "I can so do fancy stuff with my hair. What about the time I had my hair curled—"
"Your mom."
"...for that one party a couple years back."
"Oh, that one! Yeah, that's still your mom, Ash."
"The show we went to see last year?"
"Mom again."
Ashley sulked, not wanting to give up, and then brightened as she sat up straighter and ignored the panicked shouts of Chris and Josh. "Oh! My hair for my graduation! That was definitely not my mom."
"Oooh good one," Josh agreed, but quickly popped her now inflated ego with his next words. "That was Chris’s mom."
Well, shit. She'd forgotten about that. "Okay fine, your point this time. But why on earth do you think that you'd be better at it than me then?"
"Had to make bracelets in summer camp when I was a kid," Chris started to say but was quickly interrupted by all the high-pitched cooing and laughter that Ashley and Josh made in response. "Oh fuck off. I was like seven, okay? Cut me slack. Wasn't like I had a whole lot of other plans that summer."
Once the laughter had subsided enough, Josh picked up where Chris left off. "Well I used to braid the girls’ hair when I was younger." This statement was met with not more laughter, but instead considering silence. He looked over to see that not only had Chris stopped braiding entirely, but Ashley was giving him a soft look out of the corner of her eye. Immediately, Josh bristled. "What? Fuck the two of you looking at?"
"I didn't know you used to braid Hannah and Beth's hair," Ashley softly said. "You've never told us that before."
Josh could only give an awkward little shrug. "I was like five or something. And mom or dad would always come to take it all out the moment they saw anyways."
Neither Ashley nor Chris say anything to that, but both do reach out to give Josh a comforting squeeze on whatever body part was most available to them. Chris had the pick of the lot and had reached out to take Josh's hand and squeeze it, while all Ashley was able to awkwardly reach was the outside of his elbow. Josh just muttered bashfully under his breath at their attempt of consolation.
For the next minute or so, all was quiet once again as the boys returned to their braiding and Ashley to her book, but then she interrupted the silence once again. "Wait a minute, are the two of you telling me that neither of you have braided anything in almost fifteen years and my hair gets to be your practice board?"
"You say that as though this isn't an honour."
"Oh god," Ashley groaned, "my hair's gonna look horrible isn't it."
Chris, it seemed, was completely affronted. "Oh come on, don't you believe in us at all Ash?"
"Sure I do. I have complete belief in that you're both gonna make my hair look horrible." She wasn't sure if the sharp tug on her hair then was in response to her comment or just another accident.
The next thing Ashley knew, there was an unfamiliar weight on her shoulder and Josh clapped his hands together. "Well I'm done. Just waiting on you to finish up there Cochise, and then the judging can begin."
"Perfection like this takes time bro. Just give me another second....and...done!"
Ashley feels what she now knows to be the oddly heavy weight of her hair settling on her opposite shoulder, and she takes a deep breath. "Welp, time to go and check out the damage I suppose." With a huff she drops her book onto the couch cushion next to her and gets up to go and check out her hair. She completely disregards the proud yet hopeful looks that both Chris and Josh shoot her way as she makes her way to the hallway and the mirror that hangs near the entrance.
The moment she catches a glimpse of her reflection she was struggling to hold back a snort of disbelief and then the incredulous giggles that followed soon after.
It was...well not terrible exactly. Both had made braids that actually looked like braids for one thing, which Ashley was actually a little surprised they had managed, but everything else about them was awful.
Unsurprisingly, considering how hard he had been tugging on her hair, Chris's braid was as tight as her hair could possibly be. There were definitely far more interlocking pieces than Josh's loose braid, but it was also so tight that it was almost sticking out of her head a bit. Giving her the look not unlike that of an extremely deflated Pippi Longstocking on the left side of her head.
Josh's braid, meanwhile, while much more loose and natural in appearance, also had stray pieces of hair that he had missed or dropped absolutely everywhere. So the entire right side of her head was a normal-ish looking braid adrift in a sparsely populated sea of loose red hair.
Ashley looked completely ridiculous and she had never both loved and hated Chris and Josh more until this moment in time.
"Well, Ash? Spill the beans. Who's the winner?" Josh called out eagerly, sticking his head around the doorway with an excited grin on his face.
"Yeah Ash, come on. Which one of us is the braiding master?" Chris's head appeared just on top of Josh's, with almost the exact same grin.
Ashley can't help it, she immediately breaks down into laughter. "Are you two kidding me right now?! Just look at this mess! Clearly the answer is neither of you, oh my god!"
"Oh come on, clearly one of us has to be better!"
"No! You aren't! You're both absolutely awful at this and should be ashamed of yourselves. The three of us are never allowed to touch anyone's hair for braiding purposes ever again."
Josh and Chris immediately start groaning their complaints and arguments for why they're clearly the winner but she ignores them as she turns to look at herself in the mirror once again. Taking in the even and unsymmetrical red braids and the pink cheeks from how hard she's smiling.
And yet, Ashley refuses to remove the braids until the three of them go to bed later that night.

don’t you know. buck/eddie. 1002 words. established relationship. read on ao3. written for @eddiediazweek
Eddie’s leaning against the back wall of the new home Buck and he have moved into, all of the kids of the 118 running around in the backyard, their laughter joyous and beautiful and infectious, his entire face filled with happiness.
All around him, he’s surrounded by his family -- Bobby and Athena by the barbeque, cooking steaks, chicken, and pork for the dinner they’re having; Hen and Karen by the swingset Buck had built earlier, pushing Harry and Denny, who are giggling absurdly. May is with Christopher, helping him go down the slide if he asks for it, but otherwise taking photos.
His abuela and Aunt Pepa are talking with Buck and Maddie, Chimney is with Josh and his newest boyfriend, Michael and David are talking to Albert, who is holding Evelyn Joy, Maddie’s seven month old daughter with Chimney and ---
Everything is fucking perfect. Perfect in a way Eddie never thought he could achieve.
“Are you happy?” Buck asks, Eddie jumping in surprise at the sight of his boyfriend next to him, a small grin on his face. He looks over to where he last saw Buck with his abuela and aunt, seeing them talking to Bobby and Michael now and Eddie finds himself blinking, turning towards his boyfriend with another grin.
“The happiest,” Eddie says after a few moments, moving slightly to kiss his boyfriend, ignoring the way the butterflies in his stomach move around as he does so, like the two of them haven’t been dating for just under a year already, or just moved into this beautiful home and having a housewarming party.
“What about you?” Eddie asks once he pulls away, resting his forehead on Buck’s with a grin, and raises his hand to run his fingers through Buck’s hair, pulling lightly on the ends that has Buck moaning softly, eyes fluttering closed.
“Oh, I am incredibly happy. But don’t do that now, because then we’re going to be kicking everyone out much sooner than we said we would,” Buck whispers and Eddie lets out a chuckle, stepping away with a grin and moving towards his abuela and Christopher, swooping his son up, grinning as Chris laughs.
He can hear Buck’s laughter ringing after him as he does so, but he ignores it as he makes his own rounds with Christopher in his arms. First he checks in on the food that David, Michael, and Bobby are watching, all talking about --- something Eddie, admittedly, doesn’t care about, but they stop the conversation in a few seconds of Eddie’s arrival.
“Are you happy, Eddie?” Bobby asks, a bottle of root beer in his hand and Eddie can’t help but laugh, kissing the top of Christopher’s head as he nods.
“Why wouldn’t I be? I have the most wonderful boyfriend and child in the world,” he finishes, still grinning before he hears his name being called out and turns towards Maddie, May, and Athena. He waves goodbye towards the three men before heading over to the women, putting Chris down when he asks to be let down.
“What’s up?” He questions, grinning at the three ladies, folding his arms in front of his chest, arching one of his eyebrows as he waits.
“You’re happy?” Athena questions and Eddie raises his eyebrow, blinking, feeling confused and wrong-footed suddenly.
“Of course,” He replies, his tongue feeling heavy in his mouth. With a tilt of his head, Eddie looks at Maddie, still confused, before he relaxes and lets out a small chuckle.
“Your brother makes me the happiest man in the world, Maddie.” He admits, shrugging his shoulders as Maddie smiles at him. She places her hand on his elbow, squeezes gently, and -- she’s crying.
She’s crying, and he doesn’t understand why.
“If that’s true, Eddie, then you need to wake up,” She says and Eddie finds himself blinking, heart pounding against his ribs as he tries to understand.
“What are you -- I am awake, Maddie,” Eddie replies softly, barely able to be heard as she hums and walks away. He looks around and his backyard is suddenly empty, grey, and dull.
“What--” he begins, taking a step back and shaking his head.
“What happened?” Eddie asks, turning around before stumbling backwards when he’s surrounded by flames as high as his head, ash in his mouth, and smoke suffocating him.
“EDDIE! Call out!” He hears and he blinks, places his hand to the ground and pushes. The voice belongs to Buck, and he’s positive he can hear Bobby in there also, but everything is hot and he doesn’t quite understand.
“EDDIE!”
“DIAZ”
“EDMUNDO!”
The shouts continue and Eddie gasps, realizing he’s on his back, on the ground and the flames ---
“I was happy,” he finds himself whispering, tears rimming his eyelids before he shakes his head and gulps. Before he can try to stand up, he feels Buck’s arms around his shoulders and sees Bobby in front of him, his hands on his cheeks, tilting his head up, mouth moving but words not able to be understood.
“Eddie? Eddie, we need to know you understand,” Bobby says and Eddie only blinks, not quite sure he does.
“What --” he whispers, looking towards Buck, blinking as Buck looks back at him.
“Are you happy?” He whispers and Eddie ----
****
Eddie, wake up. Please baby, I need you to wake up. I can’t do this without you. Christopher needs you, babe. I need you. We both need you, Eds. We were supposed to move into our home soon, remember?
I need you Eddie. I love you man. I can’t -- please wake up, Eds. I can’t be happy without you. Neither can Chris. You’re our family, Eddie.
Please wake up.
The doctor’s say you’re more responsive than you were a week ago but you need to be responsive now, Eds.
We need to move into our home. We need to have the housewarming barbeque that Bobby wants to put on.
We need you awake and here, Eddie. Please, baby. Please wake up. Please come back to us.

Taking into consideration the tension between some of the members of the gang (like Matt and Mike or Jess and Emily), I gotta ask your opinion on how much do they care about each other. I mean they don't seem really close, more like those friends you have fun with but don't really talk about serious stuff. And about this, what pairs of friend do you have in mind? I mean, Chris and Josh are good friends. Other than that, how do you headcanon their gang? Cause I guess they also have other good, maybe better friends to spend time with. Do they actually look forward to spending time together? And do they spend time together after the events on the mountain? sorry for this amount of questions, I like your headcanons and points of view ^^
Oh wow a UD question. Its been so long, I miss this lovely fanbase. Basically how I see it is that they are all apart of different friend groups but are all at least friends of friends with each other. This got long so I put it under a cut. Im so sorry.
For example, I think Chris, Ash, Josh are all super tight. The chaos trio defiantly. I think Josh and Chris were childhood friends that never grew apart, and Ashley is a rather new addition that they met in high school (and Chris was in love with her and Josh started inviting her to hang out with them cause Chris was too chickenshit to).
Sam and Matt were probably closer to Hannah and Ashley and Matt bonded while hanging out at the Washingtons' place (cause if you look at Ashley’s stats it shows she’s pretty close with Matt even though they interact like ONCE in the game).
But Sam and Matt (though not close with each other) were closer to Hannah. (which is why Matt was the only Hannah mentions when she realizes she's been pranked). I think Sam only got close with Josh after Hannah and Beth died, but I like to think Josh had the biggest crush on her before all that.
Jess, Emily, and Mike are a bit strange, we don't know a ton about Beth so a lot of it is just fanon!Beth content, I for one, love my version of Beth and could not see her being super close with these three, only just super gay for jess and/or Emily. But the likely conclusion is that Beth was friends with Jess and Emily, and Emily brought Mike around and that's how Hannah fell for him.
But fuck that, I tend to headcanon Beth as being more a loner and only really making friends through her siblings having friends. So I imagine that Josh is KNOWN for throwing wild fucking parties (being the rich boy that he is) and so naturally party girl Jess is DOWN for THAT, and the most popular couple in school, the valedictorian Emily and her Class Pres bf Mike Munroe are GOING to be there. and Emily and Jess were Best friends, which is why Jess eventually dating Mike (whom I think Emily still loves at the point of the game) caused them to hate each other.
So yeah, they aren't friends with Chris or Ashley, so much as they are another group of friends who Josh has. (to be clear everyone still gets along with each other even if they aren't all friends, they had too, or else I don't think they would have all been invited to the Cabin in the prologue).
(I also live for the step siblings AU me and @starchildsteven made so long ago. Basically, it’s that Jess and Chris are step-siblings with is why they have a playfully antagonistic relationship.)
It is also important to remember that a lot of the reason why their relationships are so strained and antagonistic in the game is that they are all traumatized by Hannah and Beth dying only a year ago. That and petty relationships drama (I like to think part of the reason Mike and Em broke up was in part because of that night). But I think that's really why they don't seem like they actually are friends in the game. it all just kinda fell apart after their stupid prank lead to the accidental deaths of Beth and Hannah.

The Wendigo's Hunger - Until Dawn Fanfiction
A/N : Wendigo Josh × reader ( + Josh×Sam)
[The Frozen World - Émilie Simon]
This place hadn't changed in a year. Was the snow as white? Sam wasn't sure about that. She was looking through the window of the bus, which was driving her to the blackwood pines, three hundred sixty-five days after Washington's tragedy. The sky had greyish tones and the top of the mountains were hidden behind the heavy clouds. A mysterious fog rose little by little. It wouldn't have bothered her one year ago, but today, it was different. Maybe Beth and Hannah's ghosts were floating here, beneath this wet grey screen, watching their friend coming back to the lodge.
She wondered how was feeling Josh. It was him, who asked everybody to come here and have a sort of birthday party last year. It was kinda paradoxical: he wanted to forget what happened to his sisters by celebrating their death. It was really weird. Anyway, Sam liked him enough to do that. If it was the only way to make him feel better, she was ready to commemorate the twins' lost with him. She missed him. He was the kind of person who had this little indescribable thing that could have made you melt. Even if he was often oversexualizing everything, she didn't mind. It was never unhealthy, embarrassing jokes. It was just ... Josh. His smile was pretty seductive too, like the rest of his body: his clear eyes, which had a strange but beautiful color between green and blue... His black soft hair, the shape of his lips, his olive skin. The only thing she didn't know about was... "Stop it, you stupid girl. He was your friend. There was nothing between him and you." she said to herself, realizing she was biting her lower lip.
A sudden stop threw her against the seat in front of her. She quickly took her pink backpack and step out of the bus. She deeply wanted to abandon it on the road, but it was a gift from her mother, so she'd better keep it. Joshua laughed at her each time she was bringing this babyish bag with her. At least, he took it for her each time, he could be a gentleman sometimes.
The night had almost fallen, the snow was already submerging her ushanka. She made her way to the cable car, but Chris wasn't waiting for her. Nobody was here, except her. She decided by herself to come back in the mountains, to find her friend who had disappeared in the depths of mines. Authorities were formal: he was probably dead. He couldn't survive without food, in the winter cold, wounded and alone. It was impossible. Nobody tried to search his corpse or the cause of his decease, and this was driving her mad. Yes, he had done stupid things, like this horrible prank, but he was, first of all, a human in distress. She imagined him, waiting for any kind of help that never arrived. Maybe the police were right. What was she expecting? To win a fight against tens of wendigos? She sighed and opened her backpack. A photo of her and Josh was inside, she was certain to have put it in her bag before she left, but she couldn't find it.
"I'll search for it later."
She climbed into the cable car and relaxed a bit. She wouldn't be disturbed by anybody, Washington's didn't want to enter in the lodge, after their three-loss, it was too hard. They gave her the key and didn't stop to repeat she could do what she wanted with it. She was surprised by their behavior. They weren't really curious about their children's death, as if they already disappeared from their memories. It looked like everybody on Earth had become blind. Friends, family, each of them had forgotten about Hannah, Beth, and their brother. She looked at the ground, while a tear was rolling on her pale cheek. She felt guilty and monstrous. She abandoned Josh. But now was the time to be forgiven.
Mike was still angry, because of what his "friend" had done, Chris was always avoiding the subject and Matt was neutral but too scared to go with Sam. And the girls... Well... They tried to forget this story as much as they could. Ashley was scared to death of Josh himself. After all, he hit her in the face, for a "revenge game". Sam was quite comprehensive. Jessica, after her hospital sojourn, decided to cut off contact with the rest of the group, including Mike. But she kept talking with Sam for a while. The two women admitted that Josh was their crush before the incident. Jess hoped so much that her boyfriend at that time said "yes" when she asked if he was serious about letting Joshua coming with them for their little... Shindig. In fact, the braided hair girl wasn't mad or scared anymore. The past was behind her and talking about him wasn't so irritating. For Emily's part, it was impossible to have a normal conversation when Josh was put on the table. She was turning hysterical and having nightmares for entire weeks about the mines and the creatures living there.
Someone knocked at the window of the cable car. Sam screamed out and hurried to the booth bottom. How was that possible?
"Who the hell are you?" she asked.
"If you stop yelling like a dying pig, maybe we will be able to introduce ourselves." answered a man with long straight black hair
"What do you mean by ourselves ?"
Once again, the man invited her to step out of the cabin. She obeyed and saw behind her interlocutor a young lady. She looked tired and worried.
"So...hum...Hello, my name is Lucas, and this is my sister, [Y/N]. I suppose you're Samantha, am I right?"
"How do you know my name?"
"Can we talk in the lodge? We're running out of time."
Sam nodded and followed Lucas through the woods she strode across, covered in blood and dirt, a year ago. She walked beside [Y/N], who didn't say a word since they had met. Lucas's sister had dark hair too, very pale skin and hazel eyes. She was hiding her chin and her lips into her winter jacket collar, but Sam was convicted that it wasn't because of the cold weather. The girl was hiding from something. Wendigos? Did they know about them?
"Are you alright, [Y/N] ?" she asked.
[Y/N] turned her head in a jump and quickly nodded. Before Sam could say anything else, Lucas shouted their names. They were in front of the lodge. The blonde woman breathed a huge sigh of relief. Finally, she would be able to take a hot bath, have some rest and find answers to her questions. Lucas opened the door and let his sister and Sam enter the lodge.
"Alright, guys, Sam is here, we can start our investigations." declared the tall man, by putting off his long black felt coat.
"What the fuck are you doing here, you all?" asked Sam.
Indeed, all the band was sitting in the living room. Chris stood up and explained to her that Lucas had contacted him a few weeks ago, to help him and his sister to find their common friend, Joshua Washington. At first, he was reluctant and doubtful. How Josh could have survived? But the revelations of Lucas convinced him to save his old best friend and tried, in turn, to persuade Ashley to come with him. Mike, Jess, Matt, and Emily have been informed too, one by one. They hesitated, as did Chris, and finally agreed that they couldn't let Ash and Chris alone in the mountains, where too many wendigos were roaming.
"And what's that super mega secret that changed your mind?"
"There is a way to get back from the state of wendigo. That's why [Y/N] and I are here. I'm the weapon, she's the brain. But we need as much help as possible, and this is the reason why we called the seven of you." replied Lucas.
"Maybe you could let your sister talk for just a second?" suggested Emily.
[Y/N] lifted her eyes in surprise and seemed more worried than ever. She walked slowly to the center of the room and sighed.
"Yes, there is a solution. Our father, Jack Fiddler, was a wendigo hunter. Chris saw him dying by the hands of a creature."
"He was your father? Oh God, I'm so sorry."
"It's okay. When we learned his death, we deeply wanted to get our revenge and become hunters too. Then your witnesses were broadcasted on TV and radio, with Josh's disappearance... And also the mysterious slaughter of two forest rangers, in the same mines. We had finally a true goal, which worth to die for: save our friend."
"Wait, wait, wait, how do you know him?" asked Mike.
"I have been in the same class as him since preschool, and when we entered high school he was giving me Spanish tutoring. He quickly became friends with Lucas, and... he and I were getting closer from day to day."
Sam felt something breaking inside her. Was it her heart? So when Josh said he was very happy that she had come to the birthday, was he only talking about a special friendship? Her cheeks got red and she had a lump in the throat. Lucas put maps, notes, and illustrations on the coffee table. The group paid great attention to [Y/N] 's brother's explanations. Sam's vision became blurry.
"Hey, guys, can you continue without me? I need to... rest a bit. I don't feel very well."
Lucas was about to protest but his sister stopped him and allowed Sam to go upstairs and have a bath. She headed towards the bathroom, locked the door and lighted some candles. She remembered what happened last year. Josh had hidden a camera and filmed her, naked, then only wrapped up in a white towel. If it has been kind of traumatic a year ago, today she was afraid to admit to herself the truth: she would have loved to see her in a bathtub, in Josh's arms. She felt like a true psychopath, but she couldn't stop thinking about that. Oh, how she dreamt to be in a flimsy outfit, in hot water, with him, the only man she had truly desired. While she was undressing, she was thinking about the things Joshua could have done to her in this bathroom, if she had invited him to join her the last time she saw him, in his normal state. She slipped into the water and imagined his body against hers. God, he was probably the hottest thing on these mountains. Her hand slowly reached her crotch and started to skim herself. She closed her eyes a few seconds and reopened them in a whisper. But what appeared in her sight absolutely terrorized her!
"Joshua? Is that you?"

Can you tell us about your Until Dawn au?
Gladly! It’s not anything spectacular, but it’s a fun idea totinker around with, anyways ^^
So it’s basically just Until Dawn with all the UD charactersreplaced with the Pokemon characters and a few changes to the storyto fit around the world of pokeani, with the character roles going asfollows:
Ash - Josh
Misty - Sam
Brock - Mike
May - Ashley/Chris (interchangeably, ‘cause in some instances I want her to be in Ashley’s position, and in others, Chris’s, for reasons I’ll get into in a bit)
Dawn - Jessica
Jessie - Emily
James - Matt
Meowth - Chris/Ashley (same thing as May)
Pikachu - technically serving both the positions of Hannah and Beth, but namely Hannah
and then the old flamethrower man dude can be like an older, rugged Officer Jenny who’s long since retired lol
Oh, I should probably mention that everyone is in their 20′s orolder at the time of this au. Also, since I came up with this aubefore I watched XY (and I never bothered with BW whoops),unfortunately those travel companions will not be there. So let’sjust say, for the convenience of the story, that they had otherarrangements and couldn’t make it
From here on out, this is gonna get super LONG, and super SPOILERYFOR UNTIL DAWN. So if you don’t know jack diddly about UD, and youdon’t want to be spoiled, I’d recommend holding off on reading thisfor now. So I’m gonna put the rest under a read more so I ain’tclogging up anyone’s dash with my dumb au
So basically, instead of a bunch of rowdy college kids staying upat a cabin to party and sex each other all day and all night, it’sgonna basically be like this:
Ash won a pokemon league and became a pokemon master (finally),and won a cabin on top of Mount Silver…? I think was the place Iwanted him at…?
ANYWAYS, he’s celebrating, all his friends are there (at leastthe ones I mentioned above), they’re all having a fun dandy time, and eventually Ash conks out from exhaustion. During this time, whoelse but Team Rocket decides to stick their noses where they don’tbelong in hopes of ‘congratulating’ Ash by means of stirringup trouble and capturing Pikachu. (they do mean well, and they areactually super happy for him, butchaknow–they’re kinda the mastersat fucking things up royally)
As they’re trying to make their epic getaway, though, thesnowstorm outside blows them way off course, and they end up droppingPikachu just before they crash into the trees. They’re all fine,Pikachu included, but Pikachu’s a far ways away from the cabin now,and has to try and make it back on his own, cause the others sure asfuck ain’t gonna find him in this weather
On the way, though, some monstrosity catches sight of him andchases him to the edge of a cliff. Pikachu ends up falling off (Withthe old Officer Jenny trying to save him and failing), but hesurvives the fall. Unfortunately, he has no way of letting the othersknow of his location, since he’s so far out and so far down intothe depths of the mountain, so he’s deemed missing by theauthorities
Fast forward a year, and suddenly Ash is inviting everyone (TeamRocket included) back up to the cabin to celebrate the memory of hismissing/probably dead best friend. Everyone is a bit unsettled goingback, but go anyways, if only just to try and help out Ash in any waythey can.
A couple problems they notice through the night, though, are 1.Their pokeballs don’t seem to work (Ash claims that cell towersrecently put up on the mountain are messing with the technology) and2. There seems to be a certain bloodthirsty killer up on the mountainwith them :o
Throughout the night, the eight are eventually split up intopairs, partly because of their own volition, and partly because ofTeam Rocket being there and causing suspicion. For instance, Dawn haslike zero sympathy for the Trio and doesn’t want anything to dowith them, so Brock takes her up to the guest cabin. Jessie and Jamesgo out on their own (either exploring or James forgot a bag orsomething, I haven’t decided). Meowth doesn’t deem it necessaryto accompany them (the trip there wore him out, he claims–inreality, he’s just fucking lazy), so he sticks around with May,Misty, and Ash.
AND THAT’S WHEN SHIT GOES DOWN
Dawn and Brock are the first to be attacked, unbeknownst to theothers, and Dawn is presumed to be dead by Brock (shes fine tho) bythe time he reaches her. He then goes on a quest to find theperson(?) who hurt his friend to bring the great fist of JUSTICE downon them. The quest leads him through an abandoned pokemon hospitalwith a very shady past (which, admittedly, I haven’t put too muchthought into), and also delves into the mysterious transformation ofpokemon who have died into a very vicious and hostile ghost-typepokemon that has only ever been spotted on the mountain (and you cansee where this is going for a certain mouse pokemon who has beenmissing for over a year)
Back at the cabin, Misty takes a bath, and Ash, May, and Meowthplay with the spooky spirit board that tells them that Pikachu’sdisappearance was no accident, but was actually planned (which makesMeowth suuuuper uncomfortable and guilty). So Ash has anunderstandable reaction to this thing that he believes the other twohave made up in some attempt to make him feel better (?), and May andMeowth eventually get knocked the fuck out by Mr. Spooky Clown Man.
May wakes up a little later and finds that Ash and Meowth are bothmissing. After some searching, she finds them in a shed outside, bothtied to a wall with a buzzsaw aimed right at them. Mr. Spooky ClownMan comes over the intercom and tells May that she can only save oneof them from being ripped in two. So she’s sobbing cause shedoesn’t want to have to make this decision, Meowth’s sobbingbecause he knows that he ain’t the one she’s gonna choose, andAsh is sobbing because LOLL WHOOPS EVEN THOUGH MAY CHOOSES TO SAVEASH, SHE ENDS UP SAVING MEOWTH BECAUSE THE BUZZSAW SAYS SO
So uh. May’s super traumatized and heartbroken about watchingone of her best friends getting killed. But. She’s also growing ateensy bit suspicious of Meowth, seeing as how she distinctly choseto save Ash instead of him, and how Jessie and Jamesare conveniently away from the area during theattack and show up conveniently after said attack. So in her mind, she comes up with this elaborate hypothetical schemethat she believes the Rockets are planning, and tries to take theinitiative in stopping said plans by keeping Meowth along with herwhile she tells Jessie and James to go find help (under the guisethat she’s keeping Meowth with her as insurance that they don’tgo ditching everyone).
Jessie and James go on a little adventure over the mountains afterdiscovering that their balloon has mysteriously been torn to shredsand all the fuel has been mysteriously emptied out. After discoveringthat the cable car house leading up to the cabin is in shambles, thetwo come across a radio tower. They manage to get a hold of somehelp, but that’s when the tower decides to suddenly keel over andtrap them in the mines, oh fun!! In the mines, Jessie is holding onfor dear life to the rail of the tower, and James tries to pull herup, but can’t reach her. He asks if she trusts him, and that hebelieves he will have a better chance at reaching her from the ledgebehind her. She hesitantly says yes, and allows him to jump, but thejump is the last bit of force needed to send the tower tumbling tothe abyss, Jessie along with it. YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW FUCKINGDISTRAUGHT JAMES IS.
Jessie’s fine tho. Turns out she got caught in the wires duringthe fall, and manages to make it to safety afterwards. Then she goeson a spectacular, fun filled adventure through the mines discovering bits and pieces asto what happened to Pikachu after he went missing, and also runninginto Rugged Ol’ Jenny.
May keeps her suspicions to herself until the very end of the Mr.Spooky Clown Man escapades, where they’re both put into anotherdeath trap, and Meowth ends up being the one with the gun. Then itall comes out, and you can imagine how pleased Meowth is to hear thatthe only reason May separated him from his friends and quite possiblygot both of his friends killed during this horrific night was becausethat she thought they devised this whole thing.
THEEENN THE TRUTH COMES OUT, AND MR.SPOOKY CLOWN MAN IS ACTUALLY ASH, WHO’S APPARENTLY LOST HIS SHITAFTER LOSING PIKACHU. SO UM. HE’S FUCKING PISSED AT TEAM ROCKET FORTAKING PIKACHU AND PROBABLY GETTING HIM KILLED. AND HE’S ALSO FUCKINGPISSED THAT HIS FRIENDS DID PRETTY MUCH NOTHING TO HELP PIKACHU.
IT’S DURING THIS TIME THAT MISTY ANDBROCK MEET UP WITH EACH OTHER, THEN MEET UP WITH THOSE THREE.
YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW FINE AND DANDYEVERYONE IS TO HEAR THAT THEY’VE JUST BEEN THROUGH THE WORST NIGHT OFTHEIR LIVES JUST FOR A STUPID PRANK THAT ASH DECIDES TO PULL ON THEMIN A SICK FORM OF REVENGE.
Anyhoo, Brock breaks the news thatDawn’s fucking dead (supposedly), he and Misty decide that Ash is notallowed to be on his two feet for the rest of the night until helparrives, and Meowth decides, ‘fuck you guys, you’re all awful, immago find my friends’
During which time, Jessie manages tomake it back to the cabin after being attacked by the Hostile GhostPokemon, and Rugged Ol’ Jenny is not far behind, quite literallycarrying Meowth back with her, cause 'nah you’re not allowed to beout on your own at this time of night—dontcha know there bemonsters?’
Annnnnnnnnnd the rest of the storybasically pans out just like how Until Dawn pans out.
SORRY THIS WAS SO LONG. I JUST NEEDEDTO PUT IN MY CHANGES IN ORDER FOR EVERYTHING TO MAKE SENSE. BUT YEAH.THAT’S MY DUMB UNTIL DAWN AU.
I partly reallllllly wanna write itout, but also—that would require writing out and reworking thebackstory  of the penitentiary/mines. And also somehow incorporatinga sense of choice in the story. Which I don’t think I have the skillto do lol
I have some ideas about possibleoutcomes, such as what it’s like if a character dies, if some die butnot others, if no one dies, or the emotional and eventual impact ofsaid deaths (for example, if Brock shoots Jessie after discoveringthat she has been bitten by Hostile Ghost Pokemon, Meowth will be soovercome with shock and grief and anger that he’ll lose allsensibility and rational thought, which will eventually lead to hisown demise at the hands of a Hostile Ghost Pokemon mimicking James’svoice; versus if Brock doesn’t shoot her, and both Rockets are justsuper livid and untrusting of the twerps for the rest of the nightand Meowth has enough sense to make good decisions about suspiciousJames-sounding monstrosities), but I won’t put y'all through any moreof that lol
While I don’t plan on having this beingsuper shippy, I plan to have mentions/small discussions ofPokeshipping pining (possibly, haven’t decided whether I want thisone or not), Lustshipping, Contestshipping, Appealshipping,Rocketshipping pining, and Krazyshipping pining (lol whoops)
I also have a couple other au’s withinthe au, one of which Meowth takes the position of Beth and fallsalong with Pikachu at the beginning, and another where Pikachu iswith the group and someone completely different falls. But both ofthose au’s are very underdeveloped; this is the only one I’ve put any real thought into lol
but yeah. I think I’ve said all I cansay about this. It’s a dumb idea, but I think putting charactersthrough horrible situations is a great way to explore their psycheand toy around with what kind of decisions they might make instrenuous situations. Or at least I like to tell myself that in orderto justify myself for putting my favorite characters through absolutehell and back.

My Favorite Album #222 - Whispertown on Sugar Pie DeSanto ‘Down in the Basement: The Chess Years’
Tumblr media
The core of the dreamy, ethereal LA outfit Whispertown, frontwoman and songwriter Morgan Nagler and guitarist/producer Jake Bellows, on the inspiration of soul legend Sugar Pie Desanto - how the Californian raised singer-songwriter carved out her space in the Chess Records R&B empire, why this is the best record to put on at any party, how Morgan would’ve handled operating in the early 60s and the way Jake transformed the conventional understanding of a rhythm section on the new Whispertown LP.

Ben Stokes inspires England to stunning Ashes victory over Australia
England wrote an extraordinary chapter in their cricket history today, while Ben Stokes inspired them to make a wonderful comeback victory over Australia to the Ashes series at 1- 1.
Just weeks after winning the World Cup in the near-bedlam scenes, England treated their fans to another Sunday afternoon thriller in Leeds as they pursued their highest total ever to win a Test Match, with a score from 362-9 to clinch the game by one wicket.
Stokes was again the hero who defeated Australia's bowlers for 135, not in a nerve-racking final wicket collaboration with spin-bowler Jack Leach, who called for a knighthood of elated fans.
After the game, an exhausted Stokes paid tribute to the & # 39; serious b **** cks & # 39; of Leach, while even his Australian opponents acknowledged that Stokes had an & # 39; incredible innings & # 39; had played.
The comeback victory will take place in England as one of the greatest of all time and will recall memories of Sir Ian Botham's legendary Ashes on the same ground in 1981.
The Leeds competition waved one one side then the other, while England dominated on Thursday, was humiliated on Friday, fought on Saturday and hoped for a comeback victory this morning – but everything seemed lost when a trusted English batting collapse left Australia on the brink of victory after lunch .
England knew that if there was another wicket, their hope of winning the Ashes would be over, reducing the two remaining games to dead rubbers. But Stokes had other ideas, lighting the Australian bowlers around Headingley to the delight of a raucous crowd on the fourth day, hitting the winning points shortly after sixteen and making the party roar.
Victory: Ben Stokes roars in celebration after winning the winning runs today had reached in Leeds and led England to an extraordinary comeback victory over Australia to level the Ashes series at 1-1
Bedlam: English fans can hardly believe their eyes after watching Ben Stokes ahead of Ash victories, does not score 135 and shares 76 for the final wicket with Jack Leach
Leveling Raw Crowd: Spectators in Headingley enjoy the thrilling final day of the third Ashes test, with England pursuing 359, their highest successful run pursuit of all time, to view the series
has driven fans of England watching the Ashes Test on the sidelines of a long forgotten national game in Southampton brate after Ben Stokes winning points had beaten against Australia
England's all-rounder roars with v rejoiced after winning the winning runs with Jack Leach coming to hug his partner, while the Australians look abandoned after throwing away what seemed to be an unbeatable position
England fans go wild in the stands as they are treated to one of the special crings in the sun at Headingley
(L to R): English teammates Joe Root, Jofra Archer, Stokes and Stuart Broad celebrate the most unlikely victory s
The fourth test starts in Manchester on Wednesday, September 4 , with the series level at 1-1 after three games. If the series is a draw, Australia will retain the Ashes because they are the current holders.
Stokes' incredible innings led him to winning the Sports Personality of the Year prize and even a Queen's knighthood.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is at the G7 summit in France, called it the & # 39; most extraordinary end of a test competition & # 39; and paid tribute to the & # 39; incredible batting of Ben Stokes & # 39 ;.
The triumphs of Stokes this summer are a remarkable turnaround for the 28-year-old all-rounder, a year after he was on trial for a fight over a fight outside a nightclub in Bristol. He was not found guilty.
England legend Botham led the tribute to Stokes after the game and said: & a remarkable man is needed and I said this morning that someone had to stand in front and be strong.
& # 39; I have been beating the Ben Stokes drum for a long time now and I know when other players will see him thinking there is something special about him. & # 39;
& # 39; He is very, very valuable to cricket – not just England, he will sell the game worldwide. He should enjoy every moment. It was really a remarkable achievement. & # 39;
In the words of former Australian bowler Jason Gillespie, it was & # 39; one of the best blows of all time in Test cricket & # 39 ;, while current captain Tim Paine admitted that Stokes & # 39; good for us & # 39; used to be.
Former Australian leg spinner Shane Warne said: & Stokes is one of those guys you want in the trenches with you; He is one of the guys who train harder than I have ever seen anyone train.
& # 39; He is a great cricket player and special talent. But when the opportunity presents itself, you still have to seize it. & # 39;
England fans enjoy David Warner's accident as Australian believers miss the chance to catch Ben Stokes by the rope line late in the day Headingley
Fired hump teammate Leach after reaching his century with one of the many sublime shots in which he played his innings
After being harassed by his teammates, Stokes got a standing ovation while walking off the holy turf in Yorkshire
Australian bowler Josh Hazlewood celebrates the wicket of the English Chris Woakes with teammate Travis Head
Joe Root tried to lead a comeback for England, but he became early in Australia d before the middle order disappeared
The relieved skipper of England, Joe Root, said: & Ben Stokes is a freak, he is incredible. The message at the beginning was to just keep believing. If we had two people still breathing, we have a chance.
& # 39; After Stokes reached 60-70, he looked like he would not come out. It's just great to win a game there yourself. He has recent experience with it. Just incredible to see it unfold. & # 39;
Root's delight seemed unthinkable 48 hours earlier, when England was thrown into a collapse on Friday for an embarrassing 67 in a collapse that seemed to have ended their Ashes hope.
It was their worst Ashes total since 1948, when they stood in line against the legendary Don Bradman, and Joe Denly's top score of just 12 set another unwanted England record.
After yesterday throwing out Australia, England needed 359 to win, higher than any run chase they had played Test cricket in over 140 years.
Stokes started and ended the day at the fold but took an early blow to his helmet that saw the safety item fall apart
England required 359 ru us to win and Jonny Bairstow and his colleagues seemed good in the air before Stokes started
Hope was raised when Joe Root and Joe Denly shared a century stand before Stokes joined Jonny Bairstow in an attacking collaboration worth 86 vital runs.
But Bairstow & # 39; s patience broke at 36 and Stokes was involved in a horrible run by Jos Buttler for one, a miscommunication that could have haunted both.
Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer came and went before Stuart Broad was the ninth man with England at 286, still 73 drifting off the finish line with Stokes on a challenging but apparently doomed 61.
In came Leach's unlikely batting hero, sucking up 17 balls per hour, allowing Stokes to pen his masterpiece.
Stokes hit eight sixes and 11 fours while saving the day and immediately claiming one of England's greatest innings of all time, while Leach & # 39; s lonely run in a 76 partnership took the score.
Jos Buttler could not have had an impact on the scorecard in the second innings, as he was demolished by Head for only one
James Pattinson high fives Aus tralia captain Tim Paine after Stuart Broad's wicket as they got closer to victory
Bowling superstar Jofra Archer went to the frontiers during his innings and was caught by Head in an attempt to take a daring shot
However, Stokes came into action and one of his many six turned off a reverse sweep that was insanely good
Australia had two chances to grab a famous own victory in the 125th over an epic innings, but they are going instead down as footnotes in the story of Stokes.
With England still one point behind, Nathan Lyon left a pitch from Pat Cummins at the end of the bowler when a clean intake had allowed him to easily touch Leach.
Stokes aimed at a big lump – sweeping at the next delivery, missing but not issued by referee Joel Wilson. Repeats showed that he should have been out, but Australia had wasted their previous video review on a hopeless shout at Leach.
Three balls later, the number 11 turned Cummins off for one leg, leaving England at least one tie and keeping the series alive, leaving the stage for Stokes.
He didn't get stuck, Cummins planted through the covers for a majestic winning border before he released a throat roar that echoes all the way from Manchester to Melbourne.
The borders stopped there but not when he hurled Aussie deliveries, much to the delight of the crowd
Australia Nathan Lyon collapsed on the floor after an lbw appeal to Stokes firmly rejected by the referee
With a tie match, Stokes drove the ball through the side to ensure that England won in the most dramatic conditions

Hey! May I request number 41 for Chris x Ash x Josh, please?
six(ish) sentence weekend ;P
“Know what I like most about s’mores? There’s no fuckin’ them up. It’s impossible. Literally impossible.” In the same way a judge might bang a gavel to signify the end of an especially intense court hearing, Josh slapped the top graham cracker onto his s’more, effectively cracking it clean down the middle. “Literally. Impossible,” he repeated, very nearly eating the whole thing in one bite.
Between them, the fire pit crackled and marshmallows toasted (a significantly quieter affair). Other than that, there was silence.
And then, when he simply couldn’t take it any longer, Chris spoke up. “The hell are you talking about, man?”
Oh, this had the makings of a debate - a stupid, pointless, shouty debate - so Ashley kept her lips zipped. For the time being, at least. She had to see who was drawing what lines in the sand before she threw her hat into the ring, after all. She was nothing if not diplomatic.
“The hell you mean, the hell I mean?” Josh asked through a mouthful of melted chocolate, his voice thick and goopy until he swallowed. “They’re nature’s perfect food.”
...okay, maybe she couldn’t stay out of it. “Nature,” Ashley repeated quietly. “Nature.”
“They are,” he continued, holding up the itty-bitty remaining sliver of his own, “Perfect. Un-fuck-up-able. Graham crackers? Boring but okay. Chocolate? Also boring on its own, most of the time, but preferable to veggies, right? Marshmallows? Delicious. Joyously so. Put all three of ‘em together?” He popped it into his mouth and made a point of crunching it between his molars as loudly as possible. “Perfect.”
“I-I-I’m not gonna sit here and argue with you on the deliciousness of the s’more. I’m simply not going to do that. My problem is how you keep saying you can’t fuck them up, when clearly - ”
“You can’t.”
“They are so easy to fuck up!”
“You’re a fool.”
“They’re the easiest thing to fuck up!”
“A damned fool.” Without moving any other part of his body, Josh swiveled his head towards Ashley, blinking once with slow derision. “You hearing this bullshit? You’re just gonna sit there and let your dumbass boyfriend shout at me like this? Me? Your better boyfriend?”
Her eyebrows crept upwards, as did the corners of her lips. “Oooh no. I’m not saying a word,” Ashley laughed, stabbing a couple of fat marshmallows onto her stick, holding it out over the fire. “Not. A. Word.”
“Traitor.”
Chris was undeterred. He just kept going, muttering some iteration of “Impossible to get right” as he struggled with his own marshmallows, trying to assemble a s’more with his roasting stick squeezed between his knees as he unwrapped more chocolate. It was a close call for a second there, him almost dropping the whole mess onto the porch, but if there was one time or place where Christopher Hartley managed to get his shit right, it was where snacks were involved. When finally he held his own s’more in his (very sticky) hand, he brandished it in Josh’s direction. “Have you ever eaten anything - anything! - that claims to be s’mores flavored?”
He sniffed once. “S’mores. Yeah. Next question.”
“No. No, don’t you start that shit. I mean...granola bars. I mean candy bars. I mean Pop Tarts. I mean...”
“Didn’t Starbucks have a - ”
“Yes! I’m talking frapps - thank you Ash.”
“You’re welcome.”
“I’m talking milkshakes. I’m - ”
Though it was a party foul of the highest order, Josh shoved his hand into the bag of marshmallows, grabbed a handful, and launched them halfheartedly at Chris’s face. “We get it. Jesus Christ, Cochise, I’m growing a beard over here! If you’re trying to make a point, God help me, I’m not seeing it. Now, if you’re just wanting to list all the foods you’ve eaten in your life, that’s another story, I’ll listen to that all day long. I’ll ask you use a sexier voice, maybe let me get a little more comfortable, but...”
To be fair, not a single one of the marshmallows would’ve hit Chris. Not a single one. He ducked all the same, though, leaning hard to one side like what he was dodging was knives and not puffed sugar particles. “What I’m saying...is that other than literal s’mores, s’mores like this precious gift I am currently holding in my ha - hey!”
Ashley shrugged as she yoinked said s’more from him, taking a bite of it as her other hand continued to turn her roasting stick. “You weren’t eating it, sooo...”
“You guys really suck at making me feel welcome, safe, and valid, you know that? You really, really do.”
“Should I ring up HR maybe? Lodge a complaint?” Josh had just enough time to pop his thumb and pinky finger out and bring them to his ear before Chris regained his train of thought.
“Anything other than a real s’more that claims to taste like a s’more does not, in fact, taste like a s’more. It is absolutely impossible. It has not happened once in the history of the world. Therefore, s’mores are fuck-up-able, and I’ll raise you this, sir - they are fuck-up-able to the highest degree!”
That time, there was no waiting before Josh turned Ashley’s way, leaning his elbow on the armrest of his fold-out lawn chair. “Maybe I should ring up HR and lodge a complaint, whaddya think?”
“I think your marshmallow’s on fire, dork.” When he frowned, she simply flicked her eyes towards the fire and he swore, all but flinging his burning marshmallow out of the fire. “I also think,” she added, still contently nibbling Chris’s s’more as she turned her own marshmallows in the fire, “I’m never making s’mores with you weirdos again.”

howdy there! 11 and 22 for those writer asks, perhaps? ;P
11.   What’s something you have learned as a writer?
That I’m not as bad as I think I am lol. That, and it’s really nice (if not extremely frustrating sometimes) to get all these ideas I have floating around in my head, *out* of my head and not really onto paper, but you get my meaning aslhasdad
22.   Care to share any future WIP ideas you have lined up?
God I have so many. Aside from the outlast au full chapter thing I’m always gushing about, I still have 3 kiss prompts sitting in my inbox that I have to answer oops, and a d&d chrashley piece. And just because this seems like a perfect time to share it, I’ll post under the cut the ideas I had for the rest of the bingo tropes (that may or may not be written depending on whether people bully me into writing some of them or not)
Found Family: likely something to do involving the Phantasia crew
Fluff: the idea I had where ash accidentally kept one of chris’s sweaters and after she purposely takes a second one, chris finds out when he goes to ask her if he had left any there recently and finds her wearing one
Snowed In: ash and chris find themselves stuck together in the guest cabin when a heavy snow storm blows in
Comedy: chris and ash debate keeping their 10+ year old promise to name their first born kid after josh when they discover that ash is pregnant with twins (this one would have been next on the list if my laptop hadn’t started crapping the bed (i’m so sorry kenzie! you finally managed to land on one of the parent/kid fics and i couldn’t even fill it!))
Slice of Life: josh babysits six year-old joshlynn
Body Swap AU: cress and the gang find out that dhaos’s teleporter did more then just send them into the prison cells in the basement of the castle
Coming Out: ash panics and blurts out that she’s actually ace when her and chris are about to have sex for the first time, and after some miscommunication from both of them chris reveals that he is also ace and also really relieved that they’re not gonna do this anymore
Crossover: ud/zombie (last of us?) with climbing chrash as a focus, chris injures his leg badly in a supply run gone terribly wrong and find themselves recuperating in an abandoned department store
Free Space: due to chester grabbing on to arche’s broom when they go though dhaos’s teleporter, they find themselves sharing a cell and with no way to escape and nothing else to do they talk about plans and what ifs for the future (this one was also on the to-do list, and if I do write it it will be because this ideas been in my head for over six years now...)
Holiday Fic: chris and ash getting ready to take recently turned one year-old joshlynn trick-or-treating for halloween
“There was only one bed”: chris, josh, and ash finally meet back up in the outlast au and spend the next few minutes trying to find an empty room in the administration block so they can sleep together for the first time in six months (original ending of the outlast au, but other plans have made this ending an impossibility now. I’m still super attached to the idea though so I refuse to just chuck it away into the trash bin lol)
Horror/Dark: teenage joshlynn manages to find videos of the events that had taken place on blackwood mountain when trying to find trivia about her new fav horror movie and realizes that her parents haven’t told her everything about their past, or the ‘friend’ they named her after
Amnesia: chester hits his head/gets hit by a spell that makes him lose his memories starting from just before toltus is destroyed
(Un)Happy Ending: sole survivor ashley, the original idea I had for the ‘story’ prompt last year
Supernatural/Paranormal AU: guy tries to rebuild the lodge years after the events of ud, and is finding a lot of problems due to the fact that it is super haunted with all the ghosts of the kids that died that night the lodge burnt down
Fake Dating: in trying to stop a classmate from asking ash out all the time, josh lies and tells the guy that the two of them are already dating, and things get complicated when the guy spots her having lunch with chris and both claim that all three of them are dating actually
Mystery Solving: ash knows that chris and josh always try to throw her a suprise party for her birthday, but when she can’t find any clues or hints she is more determined then ever to find out what they’re planning
Road Trip: continuation of ‘there was only one bed’ and how chris, ash, and josh manage to escape
Celebrity AU: a famous movie director, a best-selling author, and a triple a game developer walk into a bar…
Rare Pair: climbing chrash definitely, might use the highschool shop class fic but still unsure

Bites with Blondie: The Neon Lights Shine Bright at Broadway Market
It’s not every day that you’re invited to attend a private preview of Denver’s newest food hall, three days before they officially open for business.
That. Just. Happened.
Well, technically that happened earlier this week, and I’m still ecstatic. I have to admit, I’m still getting used to possessing a press pass, so when I am cordially invited to anything that is food-related, I am elated…and apparently I rhyme when I’m thrilled. Oh, boy.
When Denver’s first food hall, The Source, opened its doors and introduced locals to the “food hall” concept, I thought, “What is this? A bar? A food court? A shopping center? What IS this?” To be honest – it’s all of the above. But in a killer spot in the city, with much better food and booze options. Now, vendors range from food trucks to high end eateries, offering their signature dishes and a totally new experience.  Food halls are on the rise in Denver. It feels like a new one opens each season – which is probably because it’s true. In fact, all 11 food halls scattered throughout the state, have opened within the past 5 years and another 3 more are projected to open in 2019.
With a handful of business cards and my photographer husband in tow, we set off to get a “sneak peek” preview of Denver’s newest food hall – Broadway Market – and it did not disappoint.
Located on the corner of 10th and Broadway, on the boarder of the Golden Triangle and Capitol Hill neighborhoods, Broadway Market stands tall amongst its high rise neighbors. Sure, parking can be a bit tricky, but it always is in this area. Metered street parking is available and the bi-level parking lot to the right is free for diners after 5pm – unless you love getting towed, as State of Colorado office workers have priority until then.
Once you reach the entrance, with its brand new neon signage and modern feel, it’s hard not to feel like one of the cool kids. A large, open community space is first to greet visitors, with a fully-stocked bar purposefully situated in the middle. Modern accents are found throughout (think clean lines and bold designs), including a variety of seating options. From sleek metal high-tops and counter service to long community tables and plush leather cushions, the options are endless and designed for all types of occasions. Vendors line the walls of the space creating an even more open, airy feel. Bright neon signs hang above each vendor booth, allowing visitors to easily pinpoint where they want to head first.
EAT:
I was immediately drawn to Wonder, a Boulder-based juice company and smoothie shop serving the most vibrantly-colored juices I had ever seen. Founder Robyn Knowlan gave us insight into the juices offered and shots available to aid digestion, and introduced us to her perfectly-crafted avocado toast. The spot features other healthy grab-and-go options along with 100% organic, cold-pressed, never pasteurized or pressure-processed juice. Next door, Maria Empanada offers delicious handmade empanadas in a variety of flavors, each carefully hand -rolled and -crafted to a golden-brown perfection. Famous in both Argentina and the Denver metro, owner Lorena Catarovici continues to pair the most delicious ingredients with love in each empanada. Situated to the right, Misaki first found success at Stanley Marketplace and expanded based on request. This made-to-order sushi stand offers delicious sushi and sashimi using only the freshest ingredients and fish that is flown in daily. (Highlight of the evening – seeing a 250 pound Blue Fin Tuna sliced, diced and put into hand rolls made on the spot!) Mondo Mini Market offers homemade soups, salads, and house-cured meats for their signature sandwiches and charcuterie plate, while veteran chef (also operating Old Major, Masterpiece Delicatessen and Culture Meat & Cheese), Justin Bronson brings his latest endeavor offering “supremely” delicious burgers and chicken sandwiches at Royal Rooster.
With three stand-alone locations and a food truck, Biju’s Little Curry Shop caters to Indian food lovers by featuring southern-style ingredients with a kick. Full of protein or keep it vegan; there is something for everyone featuring their signature curry. Also specializing in global cuisine, Chefs Daniel Asher and Josh Dinar created Mother Tongue, specializing in Donar Kebab, falafel and frites. Their concept was inspired after a trip to Istanbul, Turkey and is designed to evolve over time. Their other restaurants include the newly open Ash ‘Kara and River and Woods.
Chef Paul Reilly, from the team behind Beast+Bottle and Coperta, set out to bring the fresh flavors of Rome to Denver with two very different style pizzas – a traditional thin crust wood fired personal pizza and a thicker sliced piece of paradise at Pizzeria Coperta.  Aiming to satisfy your sweet tooth and end any meal, is Miette Et Chocolat. Renowned pastry chefs and chocolatiers Gonzalo and David, introduce a French patisserie with a modern twist, serving homemade chocolate, candy bars and sweet treats.
DRINK:
While the main bar features signature cocktails, a variety of liquors and fine wine, it’s the adjacent beer wall that catches the most attention. Given a swipe card upon entry, each guest is able to pour and refill all beer glasses from the wall taps as necessary before cashing out. The swipe card holds the bill, which can be paid after each visit or after a few. Brews on tap range from light to dark, with my personal favorites in the middle – IPA’s. Try one or try all, whatever the palate there is something for everyone.
SHOP:
First to catch my eye was Luna and Jasper. This funky-chic boutique hosts unusual jewelry pieces (seriously cool), snarky desk signs, trendy accessories and wild pairs of socks. All gifts looking to inspire laughter, love and joy. Marking its second location, Velvet Wolf caters to women in the form of everything from vintage tee-shirts and flirty dresses to trendy overalls and accessories, while Iron Wolf, is designed primarily around menswear and featuring colognes and men’s accessories. Molly and Chris Hakes own and operate the 350 square-foot space housing both stores, while also running their Stanley Marketplace outpost.
PLAY:
From birthday parties, private events and just day-to-day operations, there is always something going on at Broadway Market. First up – Grand Opening TODAY, February 22nd. Doors will open to the public for the first time and visitors will be greeted with coffee provided by Logan House Coffee Company, breakfast and Wonder’s cold-pressed juices. Most food businesses open around 11 and are eager to serve the masses. Play all weekend with food, drinks and more as Broadway Market celebrates its opening weekend. For the most up to date event news, sign up for their email list.
With no shortage of food halls in Denver, some might think another one isn’t necessary. But don’t be fooled – this trendy, neon city brings a popular concept and elevates it to the next level.

“Sam, Ashley, Matt, I’d like you to meet Max.” Josh said before he gestured to Max with wide arms.
“Um hi.” Maxine said with a small shy wave and a smile.
“Hi.” Sam said with a friendly smile. Ashley and Matt returned Maxine’s wave.
“Josh didn’t tell us that much about you, his mystery girl.” Ashley said with a smirk. Maxine chuckled.
“Keeping her all to yourself, Josh?” Sam asked. Josh chuckled nervously.
“Ha ha yeah sure.” he said looking away. “Hey Max, where’s your bag?”
“Oh, I uh… I left it back…” she gestured the way they came.
“I’ll get it, you wait here.” He said before he jogged away. Maxine slowly turned back to face the girls and Matt.
“So, Josh said you two met at his therapist’s office.” Sam said. Maxine nodded as the three walked up the stairs.
“Yeah. We play chess after his sessions.” she said.
“Josh plays chess?” Matt asked with an amused smirk.
“Yeah.” Maxine said.
“So are you two dating or…?” Ashley asked. Maxine’s eyes widened.
“N-No, we-we’re not-” Maxine waved her hands back and forth as she shook her head. Her face was turning red and she hoped to blame it on the cold.
“But you like him right?” Ashley asked with a smirk.
“Come on, you can tell us.” Sam said nudging Maxine with her elbow.
“I-I… oh look, it’s Chris.” Maxine said pointing to the door where on the other side Chris was using the ‘flamethrower’ on the door handle. He pulled open the door and shook his hand around.
“Thank you.” Chris said as he bowed. “Thank you, thank you. I’ll be here all week-“ he was cut off by his own scared yelp as a small wolverine ran through the door. “EEEK! Jeez!” The three girls chuckled. “Crap, that thing freaked me out.”
“What was it?” Ashley asked. “Are you okay?”
“It was like a bear or a tiger or something.” Chris said.
“Aw it was just a cute little baby wolverine!” Sam said. Josh jogged up the stairs and handed Maxine her bag.
“Baby?” Chris asked.
“Don’t worry, buddy, you’re gunna be a big boy soon.” Josh said. Matt came up behind them with his and Emily’s bags as the group headed inside. “Home sweet home.” Josh said.
“Sweet is not the word I’d use.” Matt said as he put the bags down inside.
“Oh my gosh it’s so good to be inside. Even if it is still kinda freezing in here.” Ashley said.
“I’ll get a fire going.” Josh said before going over to the fireplace.
“This place barely looks any different.” Matt said.
“Yeah, nobody’s been up here.” Josh said.
“Even with all the police coming in an out?” Ashley asked.
“Not a lot of action up here lately.” Chris said.
“Nope.” Josh said. Mike and Jessica entered the room.
“What’s up party people!” Mike said with his arms raised.
“Heeey!” Jessica said with a wave.
“Hey!” Josh said as he glanced over. “Mike, Jess, this is Max.” he pointed to the girl who sat on the stairs next to Sam. Mike nodded in greeting and Jessica gave Maxine a fake-looking smile. “Make yourself at home, bro.” Josh said to Mike.
“Will do.” Mike said.
“Yeah.” Matt said. “Come on in. Take a load off. Have whatever you want.” he said as he got up and walked over to Mike. “You just take whatever you want anyways, right?”
“Woah.” Mike said. “Easy there, cowboy.”
“What the hell were you doing with Em out on the trail, huh?” Matt asked him.
“What?”
“I saw you and Em. Through the telescope.”
“Before? We just ran into each other. It’d been a while so we hugged and I said hello. Is that against the law?”
“Right. Yeah.” Matt rubbed the back of his neck. “Duh. Sorry, it’s been kind of a long day. I overreacted.  Right, I’m sure it’s all it was.”
“Nah, man, don’t worry about it.” Mike said.
“We cool?”
“Yeah, yeah. Totally.”Mike said before Matt went and sat back down. Mike walked over to where Jess sat on the couch. He sat beside her and put his arm around her. Emily walked into the room.
“Oh. My god. That is so gross.” she said as she crossed her arms. “Are you trying to swallow his face whole?”
“Em…” Matt said as he stood.
“Seriously can she be any more obvious?” Emily asked. Maxine looked at Sam, who sat beside her, as Sam looked at her. She gave her an ‘ignore them’ look. “No one wants in on your territory, honey.” Emily said.
“Excuse me, did you say something?” Jess asked as she stood with a hand to her ear.
“Oh did you not hear me? Was your sluttiness too loud?” Emily asked.
“Sounds like someone’s bitter she didn’t make the cut.” Jess said.
“Yeah it’s all a big cattle call with that dreamboat. Congrats you’re top cow.” Emily said.
“Cuts real deep calling Miss Homecoming a cow.” Jess said walking over.
“H-Hey, you’re making everyone uncomfortable, Jess-“ Matt said.
“Jealous much?” Jess asked him. “Emily too frigid for you, too?”
“Hey that’s… that’s uncalled…look-”
“Whatever.” Jess said. “I don’t give a crap what you think.” Jess said walking back to Mike.
“At least I can think.” Emily said. “4.0 bitch, honor roll. Suck on that when you’re trying to sleep your way into a job.”
“Who needs grades when you’ve got all the natural advantages you can handle.” Jess said.
“Oh please.” Emily said.
“You couldn’t buy a moldy loaf of bread with your skanky ass.” Jess said.
“Are you serious?” Emily scoffed. “Do you think that’s insulting?”
“That bitch is on crack or something.” Jess said to Mike.
“I thought you guys were all friends.” Maxine whispered to Sam.
“Things are a little… tense with the whole Mike thing.” Sam whispered back.
“Jessica, you need to shut your mouth, okay?” Matt said.
“No, you’re the one who needs to keep your nose out of other people’s business!” Jess said.
“I’m about to get right up in your business you bitch.” Emily said.
“Are we about to get real? Cause I am down to get real.”
“Stop it!” Josh yelled. “This is not why we came up here. This is not… helping. It’s not what I wanted. If we can’t get along for ten minutes then maybe we need a little bit of a break, right?” he said. “Mike – why don’t you check out the guest cabin. The one I told you about.”
“Yeah…” Mike said as he stood. “Yeah, alright.” He walked towards Jess and held out his hand. “Wanna go do that?”
“Any place without that whore.” Jess said as she turned and took his hand.
“It’s right up the trail.” Josh said. Mike nodded as the two left.
“Phew!” Matt imitated his head exploding. “Glad that’s over.”
“Yeah.” Josh said as he crouched in front of the fireplace again. Matt walked over to him.
“So Josh… uh, should we get this fire going?” he asked.
“Where’s my bag?” Emily asked.
“Huh?” Matt looked over at her.
“My bag! The… the little bag with the pink pattern! The one I got on Rodeo!” Emily said. “Matt are you- are you listening?” she looked at him but he didn’t respond. “Oh my god, don’t you remember? Next to the Italian shoe place where I got the stilettos and you knocked over the rack while you were drooling all over that girl at the counter?”
“Well, I mean, she was asking about my letter jacket-” Matt said as he walked over to her.
“Right. Because she gave a shit about you ‘designer’ letter jacket.”
“Why do you hate my jacket?” Matt asked.
“Matt I need my bag!”
“Oh my god Em, maybe you just forgot it-“
“Do you seriously think I’d forget my bag?”
“Well, I-“
“Do you?”
“Guess not.” Matt said.
“You must have left it down by the cable car station.”
“Ugh!”
“C’mon hun. We’ll be back soon.”
“And then we can get warm?” Matt asked.
“We can get very warm.”
“Okay. Okay let’s go.” Matt said before the two left.
“Okay, I’m gunna go take a bath.” Sam said as she stood before she walked up the stairs. Josh stood as Maxine did and walked over to her.
“That was not the first impressed I wanted you to get of my friends.” he said as he shook his head.
“They weren’t always like this.” Ashley said.
“Well Emily was.” Chris said. “I mean she didn’t even say hi to you.”
“I don’t think she even saw me.” Maxine said with a shrug.
“I’m sorry, Max.” Josh said.
“Hey, it’s fine. I’ll meet her when they get back.” she said. Josh nodded.
“Hey, I’ll be right back. Kinda gotta give them the keys to the cabin.” He said as he held them up before jogging after Mike and Jess.
“So you two really aren’t dating?” Ashley asked once Josh was gone.
“Ash.” Chris said.
“What?”
“I think we would know if they were dating.” Chris said. Maxine tilted her head. “I mean he would’ve told us.”
“They could be keeping it a secret.” Ashley said with a shrug.
“Josh wouldn’t keep a girlfriend secret. He’d make sure we all knew.” Chris said. The three heard the door closed then Josh jogged back into the room.
“Hey… whacha talking about?” he asked as he looked at them when he saw they were silent.
“Nothin.” Ashley said with a smile before she looked at Maxine.
“So fire?” Chris asked.
“Yep.” Josh said going over to the fireplace.
“Sammy!” Josh called.
“Whaaaaat?” she called back.
“You wanna help me get this fire going?”
“Ummmm- well, I was just getting into the bath-“
“Oh! Oh well do you need any help with that?”
“Hardy har!” Sam called back. Josh chuckled. He glanced over at Maxine. She sat on the couch with her legs to her chest, her arms crossed on her knees and her chin rested on her arms as she stared at the ground, forlorn. Josh’s smile faded and he cleared his throat before going back to trying to light the fire.
“Come on.” he muttered.
“How long do you think it’ll take him?” Chris asked.
“My money’s on blankets for everyone.” Ashley said. A moment later Josh got the fire going. He stood and turned to Chris and Ashley.
“Alright, peanut gallery, you know what? I got an idea for you two.” Josh said.
“What?” Ashley asked.
“Okay well I’m pretty sure that someone in this crazy place we used to have… a spirit board.” Josh said.
“A what?” Ashley asked.
“Wow you have a spirit board?” Chris asked.
“Yeah yeah. They’re fun, right?” Josh asked.
“Those things are a joke, man.” Chris said. “They don’t do shit.”
“No way bro.” Josh said. “I mean we used to do it all the time. Me and… well…”
“Hey Josh,” Sam called as she walked over. “No hot water’s kinda a major oversight doncha think?”
“Yeah yeah you just gotta fire up the boiler. It’s in the basement.” Josh said. He turned to Ashley and Chris. “Alright, you guys see if you can find the spirit board.”
“Chris, let’s go find it! It’ll be like a scavenger hunt!” Ashley said as she started to leave the room.
“Ummm… okay… guess so.” Chris said as he followed after her.
“Rad.” Josh said to him. “You’re not gunna regret it.” he looked at Sam. “You up for a ride-along?” he asked. Sam smiled. “Max, you coming?” Josh asked as he turned to look at the still silent girl.
“N-no you two go ahead… I’ll just… you know, wait here.” Maxine said as she stared into the fire.
“Uh… alright.” Josh said as he took a few hesitant steps backwards. “We’ll…we’ll be right back.” Josh said as he watched her hug her legs closer to her chest with a frown. He hesitated before he walked away and led Sam downstairs. “Hey. You notice how I gave Chris and Ash a mission together?” he asked as he got a flashlight from a drawer. “Yeah I was thinkin’ they could use some alone time.”
“They are very sweet together.” Sam said. “I wish they’d just freakin get on with it already.”
“I swear they just need like… something to bond over, y’know? Some sort of traumatic event to send them into each other’s arms.” Sam gave him a weird look. “I mean at this rate they’ll be in the geriatric ward before Chris makes a move.” Josh said. Sam chuckled before she followed him towards the basement.  “You know, Sam…”
“Yes Josh?”
“I just wanted to say…”
“What?”
“It really means a lot to me that everyone came back this year and you know that… you came Sam.”
“I’ll- Look I’ll be honest, it’s definitely weird being back here… But I think it’ll help us all put everything behind us.”
“Um… I want us to have a good time, you know…” Josh said with a nod before he turned and went down the basement steps. “Hey watch your step.”
“I think I can handle a little old set of stairs.” Sam said.
“Mhm.” Josh hummed.
“So… Max…” Sam said. Josh glanced back at her.
“Yeah? What about her?” he asked as he opened the two metal doors to the boiler controls.
“She’s pretty cute.” Sam said with a smirk.
“Yeah I-I guess…” he said without looking at her.
“You’ve known her for…”
“Since June.” Josh said with a shrug.
“Wow, that’s over half a year.” Sam said.
“What’s your point, Sam?” Josh asked as he glanced at her briefly with a half smile.
“Why haven’t you asked her out?”
“What?” Josh stood up straight and looked at her.
“You like her right?”
“I never said-“
“You didn’t have to.” Sam said as she rolled her eyes and put her hands on her hips. Josh shook his head and went back to the boiler controls. “I think you’d be sweet together too.”
“M-me and Max?”
“Mhm.”
“Ya think?” he found himself asking quietly.
“Yeah, totally.” Sam said. Josh cleared his throat.
“Okay, lemme see what I can do with this old hot water machine.” he said.
Maxine looked around the room with a sigh as she waited for the others to come back. She heard footsteps and looked over to see Chris enter the room with a monk robe on. Maxine raised an eyebrow. Chris walked up to her.
“Hey Max, do you think this mask would scare Josh and Sam?” Chris asked as he held up a hockey mask.
“With the hood up?” she asked. Chris nodded and flipped the hood up before putting on the mask. He held out his hands in a what-do-you-think? gesture. “Yeah.”
“Great.” Chris said taking off the mask. “Wanna do me a favor and lock the door behind me?” Chris asked as he gestured with his thumb. Maxine got off the couch with a smile.
“Sure.” she said.
“Sweet.” The two headed downstairs.
“Have fun.” Maxine said. Chris smirked and put the mask on before heading into the basement. Maxine closed the door and waited. After a few minutes she heard Sam and Josh yelling, someone trying to open the door, then just Sam yelling angrily at Chris. Chris called for Maxine to open the door.
“You got Maxine in on it too?” Josh asked as Maxine opened the door.
“Sorry.” she said with a smile.
“Sure you are.” Josh said with a smirk.
“I’m ready to admit that your dumb little prank may have had a slight whiff of humor to it.” Sam said to Chris.
“Jokemaster!” Chris said.
“I said nothing about jokes.” Sam said. “I said your prank, which was dumb-“
“Holy crap you were scared.” Josh said as he put the flashlight back. “Admit it.”
“I was not!”
“Come on, you totally pissed yourself!” Josh said as he followed the three up the stairs.
“Josh!” Sam shouted. Ashley walked towards the group and made a face at Chris.
“What… in gods name… are you wearing?” she asked. Chris walked up to her and gestured his hand in a cross motion.
“I… found my true calling.” He said putting his hands together. Ashley put hers together.
“Please tell me you’re going to take a vow of silence.” Ashley said. Chris proceeded to act as if he were talking which made Ashley laugh. “Okay okay… did you at least find the thingy?” Chris took te spirit board out of his robe.
“Boi-oi-oi-oing!” he said holding it up. “Here’s our one way ticket to the spirit realm!”
“Hmm.” Ashley hummed.
“You know what? You know what? No.” Sam said. “I’ve just been through enough spooking for one night, okay? I see a hot bath in my crystal ball.” Josh hummed. “Alright? So have fun!” Sam said as she headed up the stairs. “Oh but what out for that Josh. He’s a schemer.” She whispered.
“Okay.” Josh said.
“Are you going to join us, Max?” Chris asked as he took off the robe. Maxine shook her head.
“You guys have fun.” She said. “I’m not really into the whole…” she gestured with her hands. “talking to the dead. I think I’m gunna go see if I can find Emily and Matt… maybe help them find the bag she was looking for.”
“Don’t forget a jacket.” Josh said.
“I won’t.” Maxine said with a smile as she held up Josh’s jacket.
“We’ll see you later then.” Ashley said with a smile. Maxine nodded with a small wave as she pulled on the jacket before leaving the lodge. She waited a few minutes before she went back inside and to the library. At the bottom of the stairs she could hear the three above her.
“Yeah okay well… which sister is it then?” Josh asked.
“Ashley asked who it is.” Chris said.
“Who are we speaking to…” Ashley asked. “Beth…? Is that you?” The piece moved over the ‘yes’. “Oh god.”
“This is messed up.” Chris scoffed.
“Josh-“ Ashley said. “Are you…?”
“I’m fine.” Josh said.
“Are you sure because we can stop-”
“No.”
“Dude, it’s cool-“ Chris started to say.
“I wanna hear what is says.”
“I don’t know where to start…” Ashley said.
“Think about it,” Chris said. “If this is actually Beth I mean we can find out what happened that night…”
“Oh… kay.” Ashley said. “Umm.. let me think…Beth… we wanna know what happened to you that night. Can you tell us?... H-A-N-N-“
“It’s spelling Hannah.” Chris said.
“Wait it’s still going-” Ashley said.
“K-I-“ Chris said.
“L-L- oh my god.” Ashley said.
“Killed.” Josh said. “Guys, guys, what’s she talking about?”
“I don’t know if I can keep doing this-” Ashley said.
“We have to.” Josh said.
“Just- just stay calm… I think it’s saying that someone… killed Hannah.” Chris said.
“I don’t know...” Ashley said.
“I just… ask it something else.” Chris said.
“Alright.” Ashley said as she looked between the boys. “Okay. Who killed Hannah? Who was it? … L-I-B?”
“The library maybe there’s something in the library here-?” Chris suggested. The piece began to spell another word.
“P-R-O-O-“
“’Proof’. There’s… there’s proof.”
“In the library?” Ashley asked. Suddenly the board shook violently and the piece flew off the table.
“Watch out!” Josh yelled.
“Whoa!” Chris leaned back as Josh and Ashley shot out of their chairs.
“Holy shit.” Ashley said putting her hands on her head. “Chris.”
“You know what? No, this is bullshit.” Josh said. “This isn’t real.”
“Josh- I don’t know what’s going on…” Ashley said.
“Listen,” Josh said. “I don’t know… I don’t know if you think messing with me is somehow going to help me deal with my grief or whatever but this is not cool.” Josh said before he headed to the stairs.
“Josh no! You wanted to use the spirit board-” Ashley said.
“Hey calm down, it’s not Ash’s fault!” Chris said.
“I don’t need this right now okay?!! You guys are full of it!” Josh shouted before going down the stairs. He walked a bit further and found a grinning Maxine. “That was amazing how did you do that?” Josh asked as he put his hands on her upper arms.
“A magician never reveals her secrets.”
“You're a genius.” Josh said before he kissed her cheek. He grinned as her face turned red.
“I'm- uh.. I'm gunna go find Matt and Emily.”
“Remember you have to be absolutely heartbroken when Chris and Ashley tell you.” Josh said with a smirk as he zipped up her jacket the rest of the way. “Get those crocodile tears flowing.” He said light lightly tapping her chin with his knuckle. Maxine nodded.
“Okay. Have fun.” she said before she quickly went on her toes and kissed his cheek before she ran off leaving behind a grinning Josh.
I had Ashley asked if it was Beth since every Youtuber I’ve seen play so far has picked Hannah.
This was really long since there was the whole Emily and Jess fight and the Emily and Matt bag discussion added.

Hey ♡ It's been a while since I had an idea for the six sentence sat(or)sunday ! I wondered exactly how Josh had spent his birthday the year his sisters disappeared. He must have been feeling so lonely ... Did Chris, Ash and Sam do anything for him ?
The plan, simply put, had been to feel sorry for himself - not in so many words, obvs, because he might’ve been an edgelord, but he wasn’t that far-gone - flipping through Netflix, angrily scoping out which of the assholes from the Blackwood party would make simpering, gooey Facebook statuses, mayyybe ordering himself a pizza if he decided he could deal with that brief flicker of human contact...
The plan had not quite worked out that way.
“Anyone gonna get that?” he yelled to the house, remembering only too late that with Bob off working and Melinda doing...whatever the hell she did during the day, there was no one around who might answer. With that thought heavy on his tongue, bitter as an uncoated pill, Josh pushed himself up off the couch and made his way to the entryway, peering through the peephole of the door before, perplexed, opening it.
There wasn’t a person in sight, not so far as he could see, but there on the welcome mat was a neat little pyramid of brightly wrapped gifts, ribbons and bows rustling in the slight breeze; before he could bend down to get a better look at any of them, his phone buzzed in his pocket, and when he swiped the notification open he was greeted by a picture of three very familiar dorks standing outside the back door to his house, stupid poses struck, and a simple message below it:
hey bday boi put on some pants and get out here - its party time!!!
six sentence sat(or)sunday!!!
