I went to the Leipzig bookfair last Saturday and what can I say, every single time I saw a suit and bow-tie I was like Is it someone cosplaying the Interviewer??? Which is how I found out that, on the consensus of fanarts, he is remarkably similarly dressed to the 11th doctor and therefore I was met with several false alarms. That said, I did see Jon and Martin TMA which made my day as well.

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! Last one of the year! There are so many amazing shows I listened to this year--Gastronaut, Kakos Industries, Madame Magenta, Dungeons & Daddies, Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later, Bronzeville, Deviser, Ghosts in the Burbs, The Silt Verses, Fall of the House of Sunshine, The Ballad of Anne and Mary, Eliza: A Robot Story, Eeler's Choice, Hemophobia--this list isn't even comprehensive! But here is what stood out to me this week. (As always, some spoilers follow.)
🦸‍♂️ I've had Superhuman Public Radio on my radar for a while, but I finally got a chance to listen to it this week. For lack of a better way of putting it, the structural integrity of this show is flawless. It sounds exactly like listening to NPR, and it's funny and clever with some really incredible worldbuilding. It's everything I like about listening to local news without the stress of it being local news that affects me. I love it.
✨ I'm also new to Breathing Space, but the Firefly vibes are off the charts. I love any story that is basically just Anticapitalists in Space, but the western vibes of this really make the stories hit home. I especially liked S1E2, "A Rat Among Falcons," because who doesn't love a scruffy nobody being incorporated into a found family? S1E5, "The Salvage of the Valentina Tereshkova" was also a really excellent space horror story. I can't wait to see what they do next. And that theme song tho, right??
❤️‍🩹 @thefringespod has been making incredible use of their new full cast, and I love the twist that this season is driving home--it's not a story presented to you, the listener, it's a tragedy that the mute second character is helping to undo. The softness of the family that Pine Gonzalez spent the whole first season describing comes through beautifully in the work of the actors.
🌊 Modes of Thought In Anterran Literature is always a little bit unnerving, but this week our professor faced the horrors of...rich people. Like, REALLY rich people. "You're already paying for private security?" Absolutely chilling conversations. There was a headline this week about a bunch of Silicon Valley millionaires trying to start a utopia in the desert, which works great all the time of course, and I thought of Anterra, tearing itself apart, and about the professor, who doesn't exactly make great choices, tearing himself apart too.
🐺 Things are getting very scary on Palimpsest! Is this a werewolf season?? It is VERY gothic, which is fun in a Jazz Age setting. It feels incongruous, which just adds to the horror. The quiet build of Palimpsest never disappoints me.
📦 Bless those children on @storiesfromylelmore, they're so darn good. ItMe has always been excellent at writing along the span of human nature, and seeing them do it with the three kids in Stories from Ylelmore is wonderful. Of course, a lot of the credit has to go to ItMe's flawless line delivery too. The kids feel very real, even while they're delivering magical packages from a bookstore to the head of the local witch coven.
🐦 The Amelia Project's Twelve Days of Christmas thing has been so funny. I half hope we never find out who's tormenting Alvina. The only downside is that now I have the song stuck in my head constantly, and seeing that it's like, the second-worse Christmas song, this is a problem. The show's worth it, though.
🕯️ What should appear in my podcatcher this morning but the second episode of Flickers! I was intrigued by that first episode, and this second one is really bringing home the isolationist horror. I can't wait for the next installment.
👽 Among the Stars and Bones is coming back! It's coming back this month! This is one of my all-time favorite sci-fi shows, everyone, if you're not on board yet then GET WITH IT, because this next season is guaranteed to blow your mind.
That's what I've been listening to! Here's what's going on with me:
🧟‍♀️ The Dead has been posting episodes from its second series, Ephemeris, which I wish we could have spent more time on, because the premise is so good. Zombies. In. Space. My gosh. David Ault and Kayla Temshiv in particular are killing it on this story. It'll be a few weeks before our next story premiers, but I'm REALLY excited about that one. Tune in!
Finally, the most important news...
💚Inn Between Returns on Wednesday!🏹
AAAAAAAAAAAAA
I am THRILLED about season five. The cast is killer, the story is fantastic, everyone's bringing their A-game, and I can't wait for you to hear it.
That's all for me! Happy New Year everyone!
(If you like what I do, I'd love it if you could send me a ko-fi! Especially since my car just frikkin. Died. So rude of it. Thanks!)

hi everyone I’m over analyzing everything again. Just finished the season 4 finale of the Amelia Project and ohohughuhdahgahu all I can think about is Alvina and Arthur’s song.
It’s something about the harmonies, how the song isn’t complete when there’s just one person humming it. The song is good alone, but it’s best with both parts. And when we first hear it in episode 1 of season 4, the two of them have finally been reunited after spending all of season 3 apart. The song is about them coming together. But in the finale, it’s about them going away. Because The Interviewer is dying and maybe they’re never going to get another chance to sing it together after this and maybe everything, even though they tried their best, really isnt going to be okay and there’s nothing they can do about it and just frick frick frick I can’t do this I’m crying again good lord
It’s both their “welcome back” and their “farewell” song and I am not okay.

Since I’m still reeling from The Amelia Project season finale and because I watched this film a few days before the finale, guess I’ll write about it
Thinking of a scene with the Interviewer and Alvina. I personally think it would be more fun (if that’s the word) if she suggested watching Harold and Maude, a film about a boy obsessed with death and an old woman obsessed with life - super reductive synopsis but hey. And the boy consistently fakes his death throughout the film in increasingly over the top ways. 10/10 recommended it. Dark comedy, I’ve seen it a number of times and every time I cry so. Gold star.
So Alvina is the one to suggest it, especially when she finds out he’s never watched it. Maybe Arthur is commending Harold’s fake deaths especially as an untrained kid. Maybe Alvina confessed to not having warmed up to the film until Maude enters it, maybe she says something like “She reminds me of someone” idk. Anyways! The Interviewer loves it but something is a little off that Alvina notices but can’t name, so she puts it away and doesn’t think about it.
(I’m also trying very hard not to spoil anything in either the film or podcast)
And now just imagining all this. They watched it right after setting up shop in France. After Amelia’s and Arthur’s exchange about “When are you going to tell her?” Also, bonus pain points if Amelia is watching with them and isn’t making many quips throughout. Maybe she excused herself or sits it out for Alvina.
All I’m saying is that having rewatched this film right before watching the finale did something to my psyche - the equivalent of having a hangover and then eating the greasiest plate of month old freezer meat you found. But for emotions.

Cocoa Collabs Day 1: Manage Your Clon-ishgo (Through The Looking Glass)
Hi! Marla here ready to do another “challenge”. This time: @cocoa-collabs 2022 with superminifics! The idea is to do both the extra props and the daily ones, making at least one a day being an Amelia Caller. Not this one, though, this one is a story with some of this messed-up yet so dear to me characters! This podcast is a great source of inspiration for me and also a comfort, safe place and I am so glad to be participating on it… So, just please, forgive my quick tipper and non-native speaker mistakes and, leave a message (comment, kudos, random feedback) after the fic.
Allons-y! Marla
Also on AO3!
My nerdiness took over me and the title is from “Manage Your Flamingo”, a song from “Alice By Heart” a lovely musical loosely based on “Alice In Wonderland”
Of all the bizarre decisions Piotr Kozlowski had made in his life, the one presented right now in front of Amelia might have just been the biggest of them all. She honestly believed she had earned a pay increase after this.
“So…you took this Dodo person and gave them your face?” the surgeon shrugged.
“The Interviewer and Alvina were in another annoying still-not-date, you were flying and…do I really have to pretend Joey and Salvatore’s opinions matter when it comes to clients? And the poor person wanted a life of risks, what better than having to be an already existent person? A pretty secretive one, nonetheless! Also, dear Amelia: I didn’t only give him my face, but my whole body, even the annoying pains in the knuckles after too much…”
“That sentence ends with work, Kozlowski, I command it.”
“As you wish” Amelia sighed and stared at the jet unconscious Kozlowski-two.
“So…what did he do? Before..?”
“Oh, the same he is going to be doing after he wakes up: a maths teacher in a private school.”
The woman would have chocked, having she been drinking anything.
What a good thing that, there, in London, the Amelia Project was going better than ever before and nothing, absolutely nothing, threatened said position.
Right?

Day 2: Cats (Pet Relocation Services)
“—93 cups of cocoa! Take one down, pass it around—“
“Would you shut up?!”
“It’s either his singing or the shrieking cats!” Alvina clutches the side of a crate, one of twelve.
“I’ll take the shrieking cats.” Amelia leans forwards, as if that'll actually help her see. Alvina loves animals, but dear God she did not expect to die for them.
Later, when the storm's cleared, the plane's landed, and all dozen cats are reunited with their owner, the three of them sit in a café with their respective comfort drinks and she says as much. "I'm sorry I got us into that mass. I mean if I'd known I'd have told the client we couldn’t help.”
Even as she says it, Alvina doesn’t know if that’s true.
“It’s okay.” Amelia runs a hand through her hair. “It was good practice.”
“And one hell of a story,” The Interviewer adds.
"Practice for what? This but with lions?"
Amelia smiles conspiratorially.

Prompt- Cat
Joey and Salvatore ran as fast as they could down the road. It was clear of any cars, which was perfect if someone was trying to make a getaway. Of course a car would have made things easier but theirs currently had law enforcement going through it. It wasn't until the Italians got to the river that they were finally forced to stop. Their lungs burned slightly as they panted.
“Cavolo! That was close.” Joey looked back the way they had come. No one seemed to be following them. “I think we can rest for a while here.”
Salvatore slumped down onto the gravel. “What're we going to do now?”
His friend was quiet for a long moment. “I don't know.”
It wasn't the first time the two of them had been on the run. They had dodged bullets, rockets, and a plate of Spaghetti Carbonara. It'd been easy to think those days were behind them while working for Amelia. Yet here they were again.
The quiet stretched between them before Salvatore finally broke it. “How are we going to explain we lost the van?”
“Lost the- That is the least of our problems. We'll be lucky if we can find them again after they took off like that.” Joey couldn't help swearing under his breath, despite being unable to hold it against his bosses. Alvina and Amelia had a chance to get away and had more knowledge of the company than the former mafiosos did. Everything would have come crumbling down if they had been caught.
They both were too caught up in their own minds to notice a form inching closer to them. It wasn't until it touched Salvatore, making him jump back in surprise.
“Gatto stravagante!” He watched the cat dash a small distance away. “It surprised me.”
Joey gave his friend a pat on the shoulder. “Povera cosa, you startled it more than it did you.” He stayed crouched before inching closer. His hand reached out slowly to the small creature. “Here little one. It's ok. We won't hurt you.”
Salvatore rolled his eyes, but stayed still to let his friend have a chance to get to know the cat. He quietly watched the feline move to sniff the unfamiliar hand. A smile formed on Joey's face at the sound purring and the soft feel of fur against his palm.
“Guarda, le piaccio.” The man beamed over at his friend as he started petting the cat. It gave a series of happy mews and started settling into the comfortable lap. He looked over at his friend.
Salvatore stared back and groaned. “Bene, possiamo tenerlo. But you are taking care of it.”
Joey gave a squeal of joy in response. He held the cat closer to him. “I will call you Arianna. Do you like it?” The small sound and more series of purrs made him grin all the wider. “She likes it!”
“I would not be so sure.” Salvatore shook his head. “'Arianna' is a boy.”
“Well, he likes it then.”

This is my submission for D3. I’m doing the alternative prompt.
Locked inside of the office
Amelia, Joey, Salvatore, the interviewer, Alvina, and Kozlowski are all sitting on the floor with a bunch of boardgames, food, drinks, and pillows and blankets in front of them. The interviewer is currently playing a game of how many Maltese or‘s can I fit into my mouth and Joey is asleep on Salvatori‘s lap.
Alvina: UHH, how long until the storm is over? It’s depressing outside and the power is out which means it’s getting colder by the minute. (She hugs her blanket tightly around her)
Amelia (checks phone): well, according to this thing looks like it’s not gonna pass over until around one, maybe 2 AM? Yeah, we still got a ways to go. With the storm like this, I don’t think the power is going to come on until the morning.
The interviewer: oh my gosh! This is boring. I am on my seventh round of how many Maltese or‘s can I fit into my mouth and I’m starting to get bored over here. What should we do? Because if I don’t find something to do soon, I’m pretty sure I’m going to rip something to shreds. (Slams box of multis or onto the ground)
Kozlowski: well, maybe if you had an IQ over 20 would be able to come up with something. Oh yeah, and stop stuffing your face with Maltese or‘s. You’re gonna kill yourself with chocolate! No seriously though, we need to find something to do. There’s only so many times I can get beaten and shoots and ladders by Salvatori. We need to play another game.
Salvatore: I have a great idea! What about we play crash football. Four points if you break something, eight if it’s a bone. That’ll keep us entertained for a while.
Amelia: or maybe, we don’t do that. What about, we play clean this pigs den of an office. I’m pretty sure there’s still food from 2006 in hear. This place is disgusting.
Kozlowski: I agree with Salvatore. That would be fun. I’ve been wanting to break something for a while and unfortunately I haven’t gotten any new corpses to experiment on. I could really use something fun to do.
The interviewer: meet you. I find that breaking worthless in valuable objects really helps to relieve anger. Maybe Alvina will finally stop giving me death glares every time I pass her.
Amelia: fine! But you guys are going to clean the entirety of this office tomorrow! Do I make myself clear? (No one acknowledges the last part of her statement and within two minutes the office is in absolute chaos.
(The next day)
Joey: Dio mio. Amelia aveva ragione, questo posto è disgustoso. Anche per i miei standard.
Salvatore: you could say that again. (Salvatore turned to the side looking into the hallway) hey! You could help us a little bit here. In the hallway the interview were is sitting with a cup of hot cocoa softly chuckling to himself.

hallo intern!!!!! im curious do you have any amelia project headcanons of your own?????
whether that may be character looks or little things that the amelia deathfaking crew do outside of their job...? or just something silly !
if so are you willing to share ? :D
.....I do. Keep in mind that none of this is canon though, I am just rambling.
Arthur steals pencils. From places, from Alvina and Amelia. When he gets very bored, he leaves them in places and drives the others crazy. He can be sneaky if he wants to be.
Kozlowski wants to dabble in robotics for the sole purpose of building prothesis that are the best.
Arthur has a very bad fear of being on his own or fully alone. Isolation? Oh hell no. I am pretty sure given how old both of them are, New Year's eve used to not be the best day for them.
The whole crew is the definition of "just because I am mad doesn't mean I don't care". Yes Kozlowski isn't talking to Arthur but he also won't just let him go out without a rain jacket do you know how annoying he gets with a cold.
Personally, I also headcanon all of them on variying points of the autism spectrum.
The Interviewer has days where he mixes clothes from all time periods together. Think frock coat with a hoodie under it. He's also a layer-person, no matter the weather. Imagine that man getting a cold and sitting in his office like a marshmallow.
Alvina tried to introduce the Interviewer to Sims. He hid under his desk for two days.
All of them would make great teachers for different reasons.
Alvina is allergic to soy, Amelia can't have lactose and Arthur can't eat raw carrots. Kozlowski could fix all of these things but they all bond over the allergy life so much he just keeps that piece of information to himself.

Cocoa Collabs Extra 3: It’s the Hitmen’s Life (Opposite Day)

Alvina complained a lot about being taken for granted in some of her task, with all the reason on the World. How could people (and, maybe, people were just a certain individual, who’s to say?!) not realise all the work she put into her job?!
However, Alvina was, after all, still human (no matter most of other humans would faint at the mere thought of doing half of the work she did on a daily basis), so she could easily made the same mistake.
As she once did, when Joey and Salvatore, also tired of not being respected in the only art they were crafty at, changed places after a pact they made one evening.
It was going to be a fun evening.
First of all, it was the tea. Salvatore’s secret talent: to make the perfect tea. For Joey…it was more a question of how long a period shall he put in the microwave.
Alvina almost chocked and, perhaps, screamed a bit too loud to both her co-workers, genuinely upset about the whole tea-situation.
She really needed that tea.
They shrugged and she muttered something about the nonsense of having their hitmen doing the tea when they had helped disappear a former Starbucks barista a couple of weeks ago.
Then, it was the turn of Joey’s art: cleaning windows (that is, in all earnestly, one of the hardest house tasks imaginable).
The windows remained so stained for so long Amelia started to fear going nearby with her smaller metallic birds.
Finally, one day, as Alvina complained about what was the point of now being in Paris is she couldn’t even see some of its beautiful rooftops from her now non-existent window.
She spit the…thirteenth (?) terrible tea of the week and called both Joey and Salvatore in, both entering with a triumphant smirk on their faces.
“So, why did you two boicoted us?”
“We just changed places, so you learn to appreciate our craft” Alvina’s definition of craft might have been ever so slightly different, but she decided to buy it.
After all, apparently, Joey and Salvatore were even more useful that she already gave them plenty of credit for.

By the end of season 2 Amelia is built up as this mysterious foreboding figurehead of the organization. Then the quarantine tapes come and, all of a sudden, we hear more about her then we ever have before. She’s revealed to be this impressive, fearless woman who choses to spend her lockdown hanging out with lions, having tantric experiences and trying to not get shot for a client. My favorite thing though, is that she’s actually friends with Alvina and The Interviewer. That’s definitely my favorite part of season 3: the character interactions and the fact I think of them as a trio now— the A team if you will, Amelia, Alvina, and Arthur. I just love her so.

Prompt: Buried in Rubble
In which Alvina reflects on an evening with her colleagues.
Working for Amelia, accidents happen. With Kozlowski on the team, it’s rarely a problem. Even being buried under rubble is no exception. It does however, make for a rare evening where they're all together; Joey and Salvatore picking at each other's scabs, The Interviewer dropping Maltesers into his cocoa, Amelia rolling a dart between her thumb and forefinger, Kozlowski sewing a banana to a pig's foot. The six of them, six A’s between them, the best in the business.
"What?" Amelia smiles over the rim of their shared bottle.
"Oh, Vodka makes me sappy."

Cocoa Spy Recommendations
Here we go again! Intern shares their unfiltered, duck-petting opinion because even if you want them to, they really can not stay quiet for the life of them. For the full rec, click the read more, as this is a long post. Note: Those are Intern's recommendations, if I mess up, it's me doing that. Please let me know! Last time, we had Forgive Me! and before that patient33, if you haven't seen the posts, find them linked.
Today! @thenightpost
I will try my best to keep as neutral as possible, as I don’t want to spoil anything, just that here, it’s kind of hard?
In Gilt City, conscripted couriers are both respected and shunned. They inhabit the borderlands between a growing industrial society and the untamed, arcane frontier that surrounds it. The Night Post is a weekly supernatural audio drama about survival, tradition, and the vast unknown.
Give it a listen if…
You like Mystery, if you like the Magnus Archives and if you like the Statements, if you like a story that slowly unfolds and the occasional goosebumps in between. Also, all the gays.
A note
Apparently, they’ll start on the second season on the 11th of August! Which means I am super late but I wanted to listen again before writing anything. Website , Twitter, Spotify, Transcripts! Also, they are on Tumblr, tagged above!
Why you’d like it as a listener of Amelia?
Stories. Singular stories that give a pattern (cough), the stories of the people reading the stories, piece by piece, a little. All the strangeness that is treated as normal. The way The Interviewer wasn’t surprised with Percy being a podcast character-normal, I mean. Not as not scary, but … used to it. Also, again, if you loved TMA, here you go!
Why I like it?
Oh god, this category is so hard. It’s a good way of spooky, that doesn’t make me afraid to turn around but has me sitting with open eyes and completely straight all the same. I like the characters and unfolding story, I like the secrets. Feels so familiar, as a former spy I was surrounded by secrets, and now Amelia is also all about the secrets. And the stories! The single stories, as stated above. Also, I love letters just so much. It’s hard to get letters when you are officially dead and your name is literally Intern, but… One can dream…
How long did it take me to get into the story?
To be honest, it took me a few episodes. This is kind of strange, but I think it took me a while to warm up to the voices? That sometimes happens to me, and while I think it’s a me-thing, I feel like I should mention. While I was, simultaneously, super curious about the story after the first episode already. It got me hooked pretty quickly, is what I want to say. The writing is really, really good. The story is really good. If this one was a book, consider me reading through all my responsibilities. (Even so, I did listen instead of responding to several calls by Alvina and the Interviewer to do things…)
Others? (without context, I don’t want to spoil)
I kind of love the way the mail people are called pigeons.
“Minute House” sounds so cool.
Oh god, so many little details! The characters, who sometimes seem kind out of the character you think they had for a moment before you go “wait, I would have reacted the same way” which makes them super relatable, even though they are literally delivering strange mail at night (again, no spoilers) So much potential to get even better 👀 I love the story so much
