this is such like a random headcanon of mine, but i feel like leon loves corny ass horror and action movies😭 (which like, same). like i genuinely feel like he loves the fast and furious movies, but like, only the older ones with paul walker in them. even movies like joy ride (also with paul walker. god, i miss that man..), also loves the transformers movies, but specifically the ones with megan fox. he’s in love with megan fox and jennifer tilly, he just looks like the kinda guy who would LOVE them (specifically him in DI and vendetta). god, but like the thought of you saying you haven’t seen movies like kill bill, or joy ride, and just forces you to sit down and watch them with him. the thought just makes me go🥰. oh, also he weirdly loves the jeepers creepers movies😭 he knows they’re not great, but he still loves them to death. also i hope you’re having a great day, and remember to drink water and eat something if you haven’t!

like are you more a "falling into a mystical world full of people with little wings and pointy ears who may or may not be evil" type of dude or more of a "there is this thing deep in the moss of the woods or maybe the wild hills that may be some sort of god, or maybe just an old corpse, or maybe a man-eating demon"

Most niche dislike: The equalizer in Audacity. the first audio editing program I used was garageband, and that let you mess with the equalizer WHILE the audio track was playing so it made it more clear what you were actually changing. Whereas in Audacity it just plays you the same 5 second clip, which might not even sample all the different sounds that are affected by the equalizer... And even the way you adjust the values on the equalizer just isn't as good. in garageband you have these nodes that you can drag around and it sort of affects all the frequencies in a natural and organic way. whereas Audacity's is all straight lines... well, it's a good thing I don't do too much audio editing (he says, clearly having done at least a decent amount of it)
Opinion on circuses: I've never been to one but I'm sure they exist

11. what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?
hmm i can't off the top of my head think of something specific...i've learned about indian media/music and stuff cuz i started deliberately picking up indian artists, writers, etc, especially in naya's context aka first generation kid w/ immigrant parents. as far as research goes in general, i don't think i come off this way, but i'm a Big researcher. early on in joat i literally calculated naya's total wages for her 3 jobs, what rent might be, how much she'd feasibly have saved up. when we moved to ebott i looked up pacific northwest flora to imagine what kind of garden toriel might have. yeah i'm a secret nerd, not my cool loosy goosy persona lmaooooooo...i think the trick is knowing that very little of what you research will make it into text, but regardless it'll influence how you write.
13. talk about a writing experience that has pleasantly surprised you.
oh my god, writing BEDTIME. the chara/naya showdown. holy shit. that scene was never intended to be that badass, it was always just gonna be a conversation, and that chapter came EASY i wrote it in like a DAY, it was NOTHING like i expected it just flowed and it was awesome and UGGGHHH i want another chapter like that......a car-chase kinda writing experience.
40. best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten.
too hard, i'm very lucky to have gotten so much amazing feedback over the years, but a recent one that really stuck with me was a beautifully lengthy comment on Justice about how the reader interpreted my handling of joat's LGBTQ characters and relationships, and it made me feel extraordinary. i put A LOT A LOT A LOT of thought into that while writing joat, almost to the point of agonizing over it, so having someone acknowledge the attention it's given was genuinely amazing. <3

yes. constantly. repeatedly.
65. what is your favourite title for a [chapter] you’ve written?
listen i love all my chapter titles, they're my special treat to meself, a little joke for every chapter. :3 two particular favorites are "The Worst Chapter." and "Anyway Here's Wonderwall," because i knew from the beginning that that's what I'd name the first kiss and i love you chapters respectively.
here's something fun. there's another 2 chapters that were almost named differently, and deep down in my heart....i wish i'd named them these lmaoo. they are: "booooooring" which was almost "GIRLS GONE WILD: Spring Break XXX Edition 💋💋💋" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" which was almost "Ketchup Lore." those are both superior titles.

Bailey School Kids discussion part 3
More questions I have or things I noticed after finishing the entire book series:

These kids get invited over to their teacher's house for halloween and other parties all the time. Eddie and Melody break into her basement in book 1. Mrs.Jeepers invites Eddie and co into her basement in the Creepy Christmas super special. She lets them wander into her attic unsupervised in the Mummies book with no real explanation or reason. They listen to the sounds coming from her basement and jump out of the bushes to her inform her of the noise in Dracula Doesn't Rock and Roll. She takes them to her ancestral castle in Super Special #2.
Most of it is really funny because it's so ludicrous. But in real life, hanging out with your teacher or getting invited into her house all the time would just be a HUGE red flag lol.
I mean maybe she can supervise them in the attic while reading a thick book with her supersonic vampire hearing, but letting a bunch of third graders wander through your house? Especially when your attention seems to be more on the book you're reading instead of them? What in the world?!?

I thought the entire "Ghouls are vampire spies" story was interesting (Is the ice cream Ghoul researching for Boris Hauntly?), and Mrs. Jeepers ending up splattered with whipped cream in the face at the end? Well ya know... the shit she puts up with from these kids lol.
Hellsing ghouls (zombies) and Tokyo Ghoul are the two animes I know where Ghouls are similar to vampires or do the bidding of vampires as mindless servants.
Also, lol, I think this is the ONLY drug reference in the entire series. The book series is very, very clean. You never meet any characters that smoke, drink, or do drugs. But here we get a mention of "Bloody Mary" being a drink, but the kids only mention it being made of tomato juice, not alcohol.

I mean if you’re living on “tomato juice” every day and your family cooks up the weird stuff Boris does all the time, then really a moldy cookie is nothing. She’s probably had far worse things stashed in her purse. This also makes me think that maybe Boris and other vampires learned to “cook” for their other monster friends and family? Probably all the vampires just do blood? But Hilda, Kilmer, etc eat all of the weird shit Boris creates.

And it’s interesting that she just gives up after the kids remove the blarney power from her. She's just like: "Oh well, foiled again. I'm going home for a nap."
Maybe the blarney stone not only gives you the power of persuasion, but also encourages you to reach for your greatest desires? It's weird she went from excited to use the power to make them do a ton of math work to being totally accepting that they took the power away from her so easily. Like she suddenly remembered making kids do THAT much math isn't very nice.

At some point when I was a kid, after I was scared and told mom I felt like I was being watched all the time (and then mom figured out oh it wasn't a ghost it was a horror movie I watched), I wasn't allowed to watch scary movies (except maybe scream? idk)
And then when I was 12 Jeepers Creepers 2 came out in theaters, and my parents didn't want to find me a sitter I guess, and I was forced to watch Jeepers Creepers at home so I could go to the theater with them and then I was no longer stopped from watching scary movies even though I didn't want to watch them lol
Unless of course there was a lot of sex then I was allowed to leave (Jason X rented at some point after this I have to assume. the passage of time is lost to me i just remember explicitly being forced to see JC2)
