Why YOU Should Vote For Solomon In The 2022 RAD Popularity Contest!
Tumblr media
YOU. YES, YOU! YOU are sleeping on Solomon!
He doesn't like that, MC.
So I am making this post as a fellow Solomon enjoyer!
1. Much Character And Development (Very Cool!)
Solomon is an immortal sorcerer. So, he's not a demon or angle. He's different like that, a bit quirky if you will.
He's lived a long time. He's very lonely. The RAD program was finally a place where he could find his found family. Doesn't that make you feel bad? Don't you think he deserves more love to compensate for his very much lonely life? I am guilt tripping you, you are being held at gunpoint, MC...
To elaborate more on his character, please allow me direct you to these AMAZING posts (that are actually serious and put things in way better words than I ever could lol) to explain why he's SUCH much character.
@books-and-catears Quick read of his Birthday Event and all the details of how amazing he is!
@3vocatio 's Analysis Of Why Solomon is a Consistently Written Character AND The Devs FAV (CANON???) (REAL, NOT CLICKBAIT) (😱) (😍)
@yourboyhack 's reblog of Solomon's B-day Character Card and how it mentions the obvious and is so very based
2. He Just Loves You So Very Much
As evident by his constant praise and affection! You're his darling apprentice and is very proud of you! 💙
Example shown here in @books-and-catears post!
He is absolutely your soulmate, MC. No, I'm not gaslighting you, MC, what do you mean?
He is determined to show you how much he loves you! He's open and honest. All he wants is to be sincere with you, as also evident by ANOTHER @books-and-catears post (They're so fucking based, one of the biggest Solomon appreciaters ever) and @he-calls-me-kitten 's reblog!
Conclusion?
Solomon is a very amazing and fantastic character. Especially after his Birthday Event, it's clearer than ever he's one of the best written characters! He deserves much more fans and appreciation. And the Devs ESPECIALLY deserve to know how much we adore his character! And even if you STILL don't like him or prefer another character?
Do it for the bit. That's right. If nothing I said reached you, at least do it for the funny.
And THAT is why you should vote for Solomon in the 2022 RAD Popularity Contest!
VOTE NOW!:
(NOTE: You can vote as many times as you'd like! (If you go into Incognito Mode 😏👀) Vote your true fav, but I encourage you to go vote for Solomon as MANY times as you can in Incognito and go HAM.)

POV: You are an Asmo fan watching as Mammon wins a popularity contest. His insufferable fan base has done it again. The fan base that harasses those who like other characters, namely Lucifer and Asmo, calling them abusive, racist, and more. The fan base that is extremely rude and ignorant. The fan base that constantly ignores canon in favor of their perfect little uwu boy. And now, as always, other characters will be constantly ignored, giving Mammon pointless, annoying screen time. And as an Asmo fan, you can't even play an Asmo Devilgram, something supposed to be centered around him, without Mammon showing up and stealing the spotlight. Fucking great.

One of the strangest Obey Me takes I’ve ever seen was that Diavolo was a shit ruler who his people should hate- like bro- regardless of what anyone personally thinks about Dia, (whatever your opinion is, it’s valid because its yours) in the game itself, his people canonically love him. It’s explicitly stated in one of the earliest chats you can get.
Literally no one is pissed that his student council officers are fallen angels (in the original game, Nightbringer is a different story) because the brothers are almost EQUALLY as loved as Dia. IIRC Lucifer got second place in that RAD popularity contest in one of the first chats in the game, only losing to Diavolo.
And during season two, that other popularity contest that we help Asmo win, it was down to O N E vote between Asmo and Lucifer, meaning the student body must R E A L L Y like these fuckers.
AND JUST A REMINDER, in Obey Me! canon, MC is only threatened with being eaten in the FIRST LESSONS by random background demons. For the rest of their time at RAD, they’re totally fine, and in a chat between Barbatos(?) and Simeon I believe, Simeon comments on how the other demons at RAD have stopped trying to eat him after MC started whipping the brothers into shape, showing that at least most of the student body is chill by season two.
…also this is a dating otome game where we go on wacky adventures with a bunch of loveable dumbasses, why are some people looking at this from a realistic political standpoint-
(I don’t want to start fights or anything, once again, your opinion is your own, just putting mine out there lol)

Hello,
I know in obey me the brothers are refered to the 7 demon lords and the 7 princes.
But do you think there are other princes like Belial, Astaroth. Like we know there are other dukes, lords, and queens in obey me.
Ive reread the ars goetia and reread the book of Abramelin.
Sort of, yes!
While yes, the brothers are referred to as the "Seven Rulers of the Hell" alongside Diavolo as the Crown Prince of the Devildom, Obey Me has generally gone with a more directly monarchical structure than exists in actual demonology.
In normal demon hierarchy, there are tons of not only dukes and princes, but also kings, emperors, presidents, etc. The Ars Goetia describes Solomon as having no less than nine kings, as well as fourteen presidents and seven princes. What's more, some demons are listed as both president and king or prince. But this isn't the case in Obey Me.
In the OM universe, they have been quite clear -- in this universe, Diavolo is the Prince of the Devildom, destined to lead the entire realm. He is an only child, and single acting ruler of the Devildom. Though they have mentioned Queen Rose, whose title would suggest that she is some kind of royalty, it seems she is not royalty of the realm. Potentially, since she also visits from some faraway place, this may mean she has regional power, much like the difference between a governor versus a president. However, Diavolo is the one and only Prince of the Devildom overall, and he has ultimate power. The brothers are more like a Royal Council that supports Diavolo in governing the realm.
At a guess, this is likely meant to be a parallel to the Celestial Realm, so that Obey Me could have a single "Demon King" figure as a parallel to God on the opposite end, with Michael and Diavolo having the roles of acting rulers of their respective realms.
As for other nobility, such as dukes and lords, yes, it has been confirmed that there are other nobles for sure. Diavolo has lamented the stuffy, conservative traditional nature of the nobles a few times. In Nightbringer, there is also a mention of the House of Lords specifically, which seems to be a more formal structure of some nobles that Diavolo needs to maintain at least a certain degree of approval from. Plus, Mephisto's bio on the Nightbringer website also mentions that he is born of nobles. And Astaroth, who you mentioned, actually shows up as a name in the popularity contest chat -- the same one where Mephistopheles was first mentioned! So Astaroth is around RAD somewhere, and presumably, most of Solomon's other pact-mates are somewhere in the Devildom too, just not shown or mentioned by name. Their ranks may simply be different in the game, just as Barbatos is technically supposed to be a Duke and Earl but has been turned into Diavolo's butler instead. But yes, other nobles definitely exist!
.
.
(NIGHTBRINGER SPOILER BELOW)
.
.
.
.
On a final note, the brothers' titles as Rulers of the Underworld is actually quite special as well, and very separate from any normal title of nobility! While they were also given positions of respect and nobility as the Avatars of their respective sins by the Demon King, NB Lesson 3 actually showed that the brothers earned the title by taming Cerberus, and that was also about when they started actually receiving any minimal kind of respect from the rest of the Devildom.

I think a lot of fans also forget that Obey Me is a mobile dating sim— it’s not gonna have the best writing ever. A lot of the time, the writing is going to be flat with plenty of plot holes because the devs don’t care that much. But that’s also why I love reading blogs like yours with character interpretations and theories! The story and characters truly lack some depth, but the fandom brings so much life to it. Mammon’s behavior in s4 could really just be poor writing and wanting to bring back the “haha look he’s a tsundere” lines… but thinking about it the way you do brings so much more enjoyment! Obey Me plot/lore is going to be whatever you make out of it!! (love ur blog a lot btw <3)
I'm really glad you liked my insane rambling! Thank you!! It means a lot ^^ Like so much! But I'm sad to say you're also getting whacked upside the head with a rolled up newspaper😔
Plot and specially lore is going to depend on how you interpret it and the fandom definitely brings more life to the overall story
BUT
I don't agree with you about the writing being flat or lacking depth.
Some characters are severely underutilised and explored because the devs put more focus on others (eg: Asmo being pushed to the side in favour of Lucifer or Mammon) but even then those characters have their shining moments where they're given more depth (eg: the S1 conversation with Asmo & Simeon about Asmo's need to be pretty and Asmo vs Lucifer in the S2 RAD popularity contest)
So,
I definitely wouldn't say, "The story and characters truly lack some depth"
If you compare it to an anime or manga then obviously it's not going to hold up because it's not either of those things. But OM! is definitely one of the better written otome games out there and if you take the time to actually read it more thoroughly or if you take note of the little details you'd notice that it has a lot more depth that you'd expect. Don't just read the words, actually pay attention to their facial expressions as well.
One of my favourite instances of this is in S2 when the brothers find out that Diavolo, Barbatos, Simeon & Solomon were keeping secrets about MC's power which led to lucifer losing his memories.
Asmo asks both Diavolo and Solomon what was more or less the same question. Basically "You've been keeping secrets from us?" or something to that effect.
But his expression changes while he addresses them each separately.
When talking to Diavolo, Asmo's expression is angry - he's frowning.
But when he talks to Solomon, his expression softens and turns sad.
It's such a small moment that adds so much depth. It instantly shows that Asmo feels betrayed about Solomon keeping secrets from him. It gives a deeper insight into their relationship.
(Link for S2 Asmo with screenshots)
Detailed examples of where their expressions add depth to the story/are important
OM! is full of small moments like this - the most recent was from Lesson 69 when Mammon called Luke a chihuahua (link) <- this wasn't me filling the plotholes or speculating. This was literally just me stating what I saw on the screen. Just because I'm adding more words to describe what is happening doesn't mean I'm making it up or theorising.
If you clicked the links in my Mammon post that you're referring to in this ask you'd see that only about 5-6 of them are my theories. Almost everything else (there are maybe almost 15-20? links) is just me commenting on screenshots from the actual game. Literally just me pointing out or reacting to what the characters said. A few others are where the game gave me "1 + 1" and I went "Oh! It's 2!" (Eg: Mammon's lunch pancakes, Mammon seeing Luke as family <- which had already been stated as a fact in S3, I was just laying out all the s4 evidence that contributed to it). There are about 30-40 points in that post, and the ones without links are just me stating things Mammon has canonically said or done in S4.
As much as I love filling the gaps/plotholes none of that^ is me doing so. It's literally just me saying what happened in canon.......
Also, even with what I said in this post about why Mammon was acting more tsundere in S4, that really only applies to lesson 61-62 because after that he more or less eases back to how he is in S3?
Eg:
Walking around RAD and holding hands with MC
Standing up for MC in front of Mephisto
Asking Diavolo about the people who don't like MC so he can go fight them
Enthusiastically helping MC find the magic card
Blushing and looking bashful when MC calls him "cute" even though his brothers were there at the time
Liking a dating sim character because they reminded him of MC
Hugging MC for warmth
Telling MC they had a fiery personality with a cute side and that he wanted to know about all their sides
Turning to MC for support when he first confronted Simeon
Going on a cute taco truck date with MC
Bringing MC with him to confront Simeon for the second time and backing down when MC told him to calm down
Have yall who have problems with how Mammon acts in S4 just considered that maybe after three full seasons that heavily focused on him.....you're just not used to him being pushed a bit to the side and to, when he does appear, him not focusing all his overwhelming love on MC 24/7?
Which is a good thing in my opinion because:
1. I'm a shameless Mammon stan (as you probably know) and I miss him being in the game so often but it's good that everyone else (specially the new characters) are getting their time
2. From both a fictional and realistic standpoint it's good when a large part of a character/person's personality/drive/motivation/screen time isn't focused on their SO. It helps to better establish their character and shows that they're more secure in their relationship that they can stop clinging to their SO so much. It also allows you time to develop their relationships with other characters. I love Mammon from all 4 seasons but S4 Mammon has put a lot less focus on MC and because of that in the little bit of screentime S4 Mammon gets they've managed to give more insight into his relationships with Simeon, Luke, Raphael, Satan and, to an extent, even with Thirteen and Mephisto. We already know what MC and Mammon's relationship is like. We don't have a desperate need for more insight. What we do need is for him to grow as a character and interact more with the others outside of MC and so, obviously, because of that he'd spend less time swooning over MC. That isn't anyone being "haha look he's a tsundere"
You could look at point 2. and say "But this is a dating sim! They wouldn't care about other relationships outside of MC's romantic relationships! As a dating sim LI Mammon should spend all his screentime swooning over MC!" Except OM! did something no other dating sim I've played has ever done (and I've played a lot) it made MC wait one year in game time to have any sort of significant romantic interaction with the LIs because they were too focused on developing the friendships and platonic relationships between MC and the LIs, and sometimes even the relationships between the LIs. Even in S2 & S3 romantic interactions/relationships were pushed to the side in favour of solving the issues in different platonic relationships. MC's romantic relationships rarely have any drama, conflict in OM! mainly stems from the platonic relationships. So yes, 2. is important.
Yes, I went on a tangent and this isn't really what this particular anon was talking about but I really needed to talk about this too because a previous anon said that people were upset when Mammon didn't pay attention to MC 24/7 and the first anon in this thread thought Mammon was falling out of love with MC. (You don't need to be attached at the hip to be in love💀)
Overall, the main point of this ask & answer amounts to:
As much as I live for any type of praise or validation, I don't want any type of credit where it's not due.
I'm the one filling in the occasional potholes, I'm not building the road.

quick meta post bc i am Thinking about the new characters I said “quick” when I started writing this but it’s gotten way too long to qualify as that anymore. Anyway here’s a look at the figures that inspired/may have inspired the new students + some predictions about what they’ll be like. I’m excited dude
(slight spoilers but nothing major)
THIRTEEN
Tumblr media
✧ Solomon mentions that he’s known her for a long time, and that she makes some “interesting traps” – it’s possible she’s attempted to use said traps on him. It’s unknown what sort of relationship the two of them have. Seeing as Solomon competes in various ‘games’ for his soul with the only other Reaper we’ve seen thus far, they may have something akin to a rivalry going on.
✧ Based on her pose and what we can see of her expression, Thirteen seems like she’ll have an upbeat or otherwise energetic personality.
✧ Since Obey Me! is a Japanese game, it’s possible that Thirteen may be based more on shinigami than on the Western concept of the Grim Reaper.
Thirteen may also wind up bearing similarities to Izanami, a major figure in Shinto (and wider Japanese) mythology who is heavily linked to death. Despite pursuing her to the land of the dead (Yomi-no-Kuni) to bring her back, Izanami’s husband Izanagi abandoned her and sealed off the entrance to the land of the living after he saw that she had become a uhhhh rotting corpse. Screaming at him from behind the barrier, Izanami swore to take the lives of a thousand people every day.
tl;dr i don’t really expect it to go this way but also i am not above the cheesy “learning to love again after a lousy ex” trope
✧ Unfortunately there’s only so much analysis I can do here in comparison to the others, since “Grim Reaper” isn’t exactly a specific literary or mythological figure.
MEPHISTOPHELES
Tumblr media
the man LIVES
✧ His currently-known ‘crimes’ consist of falsifying ballots in the popularity contest to put himself at 10th place (and Mammon at 1st), helping design the Prince Lucifer and Princess Diavolo chat stickers, and iirc using the official RAD Newspaper Club account to message said stickers to students.
✧ Diavolo mentions that Mephistopheles has a younger brother whom he dotes on. Considering that the character of Mephistopheles is most frequently associated with that of Faust when it comes to popular media, the younger brother could very well be based on Faust. (That is, assuming we get any info about the little brother other than that he exists.)
✧ In Faustian legend, Mephistopheles acts as the middleman between Faust and the Devil when Faust goes to trade his soul for knowledge. Working for the Devil is, in fact, Mephistopheles’ personal hell. He warns Faust against going through with the trade, lamenting that he himself will never again experience the comforts and joys of heaven. Mephistopheles is noted as not looking to corrupt humans, but instead appears to people who are already corrupt.
✧ In Goethe’s version of the legend, Mephistopheles displays a tendency for dark humor. Faust asks if God only wants his soul to stay out of hell for the sake of adding it to His kingdom; Mephistopheles replies that misery loves company (Solamen miseris socios habuisse doloris, “It is a comfort to the wretched to have companions in misery”). Mephistopheles also states that if he weren’t already a devil, he’d give himself up to the Devil without a second thought.
(Other hit lines include variations of “I think you’ll find that most people would rather not die” and “humans cause so many problems for themselves that I almost feel bad about making things worse for them”)
✧ Something worth pointing out is that although Mephistopheles is quoted as serving Lucifer in the legend, Lucifer in the legend is meant to be the Devil, ruler of hell, top of the hierarchy, all that jazz. There’s some disconnect between the legend and the game on that front, since the Demon King and Diavolo are the rulers of the Devildom, not Lucifer. I wouldn’t be surprised if Lucifer tries to keep Mephistopheles on a short leash tho, especially considering Mephisto’s apparent mischievous streak.
✧ Whether or not his cane serves as a mobility device or if it’s just for aesthetic is unclear. I would LIKE it to be a mobility device and for it to be actually acknowledged as such, but I’m not about to get my hopes up bc uhhhh y’know. My personal experience witnessing disability be treated as taboo in media.
✧ long story short i cannot wait to help this man raise lucifer’s blood pressure by an unhealthy amount
(Raphael’s segment is under the cut – featuring in three different religions means there’s a lot to say about the dude, and this post is already pretty long)
RAPHAEL
Tumblr media
✧ Belphegor states that Raphael is a meticulous, methodical angel who takes care of Michael’s requests regardless of how unreasonable they are. Raphael frequently appears sullen, to the point that he gets referred to as being like a demon in disguise; this may very well be a result of working for Michael, who even Simeon has expressed exasperation with.
✧ Raphael was, and likely still is, on bad terms with the 6 demon bros who were formerly angels. Whether or not he’ll get along with Satan is up for debate, but it’s unlikely considering the apparent state of anti-demon bias in the Celestial Realm (read: hating demons on principle).
✧ In both Judaism and Christianity, Raphael is associated with healing.
In the Book of Tobit (Judaism), Raphael used a fish to bind Asmodeus (who was a demon by then) and heal Tobit’s eyes. This probably won’t be referenced, but I’m interested in how the writers would explain it lmao. His name comes from a Hebrew root word meaning “to heal.”
In the New Testament (Christianity), Raphael is identified as the (unnamed) angel in John 5:1-4 who is tasked with periodically stirring the Pool of Bethesda. He is considered the patron saint of multiple things, including (but not limited to) healing, medical workers, pharmacists, happy meetings, eye disease/blindness, and travelers. Though he’s invoked to protect travelers in general, in Catholic Europe he was most frequently invoked to protect sailors.
Raphael is often depicted with a staff or walking stick in Catholic art. Iirc, someone (I think Leviathan?) said that he had his spear with him when he went looking to scold Asmodeus for sneaking out to go to a party; the spear may be a reference to this.
✧ In Islam, Raphael (or Israfil, rather) is heavily linked to music. Israfil is meant to sound the trumpet that signals the Day of Resurrection. He is considered a master of music, and as such sings praise to God in a thousand different languages. It’s possible that he is the technically highest-ranked amongst angels, as he acts as mediator between God and the other archangels.
Also in Islam, Israfil is cited as having four wings and being tall enough to reach from earth to heaven. Thus far Lucifer is the only Obey Me! character to be shown as having wings in his angel form, so we probably won’t get to see Raphael’s wings even if he supposedly has them. Raphael is also noticeably shorter than Mephistopheles in the new student lineup.
✧ Given his apparent attitude, work ethic, and possible predilection for music, he may wind up being very similar to Lucifer. He appears to have white or light-gray hair, which combined with skintone means he may physically resemble Mammon. Considering his association with sailors, it could be interesting to see how he interacts with Leviathan, since Levi is Grand Admiral of Hell’s Navy.
✧ Judging by his silhouette and the small bit that’s been revealed, he appears to be wearing a half-turban or similar head wrap. In Japanese media, this is apparently a popular accessory to use on characters with Arabic or pseudo-Arabic origins – a couple examples are Kalim Al-Asim (Twisted Wonderland) and Claude/Khalid von Riegan (Fire Emblem: Three Houses).

This is a long rant and a point I'm sure some of you have brought up already, but my god is NTT Solmare ridiculous.
It's just...why are we just now meeting students that apparently already attend RAD?
Mephistopheles' name has been dropped so many times. He was the president of the newspaper club. He was involved in the sticker incident. He had conspired with Mammon in changing the votes for the RAD popularity contest. And is apparently Diavolo's former friend and has a grudge against Lucifer? That's a big deal! That's a "background character that we should have delved more into at the beginning of the game with their own sprite" sort of deal. I mean, we spent an entire year at hell school with these people! Why am I just now meeting him in season 4?
And we knew about Thirteen a few chapters back in the Reaper's Cave and the whole incident with Beelzebub. They could’ve easily given her a sprite and some background during that arc as well.
And on another note, not every character needs to be a "main character." This was supposed to be a game about "dating seven demon brothers," not about "dating seven demon brothers sometimes, along with the prince of hell, his butler, two angels, a sorcerer, and let's add in a few more characters to take the focus off cause why not?" Not every character that appears on-screen needs a damn card or event. We can leave them like that, just in the background, and only appear when the story needs them to.
And it's just...how the hell are you giving us new characters when you haven't even finished developing the ones you have? I mean, let's just be honest with ourselves:
What does Beelzebub do other than eat and be cute?
Isn’t Levi supposed to be a "Grand Admiral?" Why haven’t we seen him do any Navy-related things yet? Do you know how cool a navy base in hell probably is? You could do a lot with that. Instead, he's just a self-deprecating otaku. It's pathetic.
When’s the last time Asmodeus had actual character development?
Imagine how much better the story would be if they panned out Belphegor’s character arc (yes, I’m still pressed about it).
And for the love of God, Satan and those fucking cats! We get it! He likes them!
What's going on with Solomon? What does that pretty-haired fucker do but use magic and scare people?
I don't even know what a Barbatos is anymore? An island? A delicious drink?
Diavolo is just as inconsistent as his skin color.
And Simeon and Luke are just...Simeon and Luke. I don't have anything bad or good to say about them. That's how irrelevant they both are to the story for me.
And I’m leaving Mammon and Lucifer out because let’s face it, those two have the most development out of anyone in the entire cast.
It's just bad storytelling, bad world-building, bad planning, and bad character development. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of Obey Me! I love media where angels, demons, and religion are the inspiration. But I say idea because there's so much potential, but it's just not being utilized for whatever reason. But it's like we ignore it because "gosh these boys are pretty."
Also, on a side note: what the hell is MC's purpose in this story other than being an emotional support pet? Do we do anything else outside of this bullshit?
