The whole saga is in the link, but to keep it shortish here, both of my cats have cancer. Nerys has intestinal cancer that has spread to her liver and adrenal glands. Everest has a facial tumor, the type of cancer it is has yet to be determined but it appears to be very aggressive.

We made the decision to put Nerys, who is eighteen years old, on palliative care. We were hoping to give Everest, who's eleven, a fighting chance, but the oncology visit last week was grim. On top of the tumor, he has developed a serious heart murmur and "gallop heart", indicating he's developing heart disease. Heart disease makes sedation risky, and to even get to the point of biopsy, where he will have to be anesthetized, we need to do blood work and a CT scan on multiple locations. With the biopsy, this totals to around five thousand dollars. We're currently asking for six thousand, as on top of that they're both on costly medicines for their symptoms, and since only one of us drives we need to secure transport to his oncologist an hour away when he isn't able to take time off work. And we would also like to keep both cats as happy and comfortable as long as possible.

We are applying to various charities and exploring financial options, but we really need help to even get Everest to the biopsy, and depending on what the biopsy says we'll either extend the fundraiser to afford radiation therapy, or we'll make the call to put Everest on palliative too.

We have made the decision to put Everest on palliative care. The funds we collected and any future donations will go to keeping Everest and Nerys comfortable and happy for their remaining months, and to their eventual end of life care and cremations. I thank everyone who donated to my kitties.

Our regular vet teams says there is hope in extending Everest's life with chemo pills. The first five-dose course to see if he tolerates chemo is fifty dollars (we can cover that), but after that the drug is one hundred and fifty dollars a month, and he'll need routine lab work done monthly. Because of this we will keep fundraising so we can be able to afford chemo and care for Everest and palliative and care for Nerys (who also went on gabapentin today, which means with both of them on it it's two sixty-three dollar bottles of gabapentin for their respective pain now).

She’s also great for that callback joke in the 60th anniversary special and tbh, the only character that I can think of that resembles Nerys (in terms of we’ve heard of her but haven’t really seen her) is (I think) Shereen but even then she’s not exactly the same. We just got a few mentions about her being friends with Rose.

I’m terms of fic I think having a Nerys pov fic opens so many opportunities and can be quite a laugh. (I’m thinking about a christmas one that I read the other day)
