"I only care for one person" but not really...

Is anyone else aware of this trope? The idea of someone who will only care for a single person, hurting anyone else so that special person is safe?

Welllllll, J anyone?

I think this newest episode really shows a new side to J. One with care.

The person I'm talking about that she really seems to care for is Tessa.

The moment J shows up, she is helping Tessa with her light panic about the gala and does what she asked to help her.

When Tessa shows to be in pain, J is clearly worried and saddened.

Heck, even in the teasers for the episode, we can see J looking at Tessa nervously. [She isn't looking up high enough to see the parents, but it's high enough at Tessa]

She stops Solver V from slashing Tessa's face

When Tessa is chained up, she is a bit hesitant to break her out. But she is 1. Chained up as well and maybe didn't have an idea yet to get out. Honestly, she was probably feeling really down about the corporate saying she'd be thrown out a scene before.

And 2. When a huge danger comes along, she 's instantly - in the next scene - getting Tessa out. Which actually seems to have hurt J in the process of doing that. Or at least, definitely exhausted her.

And they both help each other to try and fight the threat, and also give each other their preferred weapons.

But, this old version of J does seem to care for more people than just Tessa. This evidence is with N and Cyn.

J does mean stuff to N, but he does seem to be Tessa's fav. So she tries to not do stuff like that around Tessa.

Even then, she does save him as well. She made a 'threat' to have him off himself, yet she saves him from V.

Also while N is optimistic, he does still get fear from getting hurt. Yet he doesn't take her threats seriously. If anything, he was happy with her artwork with the death note.

And with Cyn, she does antaganise her by keeping her in the basement.

But not only does Tessa not seem to like Cyn a lot [whether geniunely or to get her parents off her back], so that would affect how J thinks of her.

But she is still scared when Cyn starts going against the corporate.

She is actually still nervous while N tries to cover for Cyn. She only changes to a dissapointed expression when N makes a kinda dum insult.

She also makes the same face, even with Tessa, when he isn't aware of what Cyn did around them.

A lot of her words and threats are empty.

Something did seem to change thou when her became a DD. She actually nearly got N killed. And I'd love to learn what got her to that point.

Little thing I didn't know where to put it, But she seems to have an intense fear of the corporate. [she's the only one with the empty, circle fear eyes]

She's an impressive rule-follower.

O choso ele já começa c os pontos extra de q ele é super protetor c os irmãos dele (eso e kechizu) e quando o itadori e a nobara mataram eles, ele foi lá e disse "ah, pois bem, vou matar eles pra vingar os meus irmãos 🫶" E ELE REAL TENTOU MATAR O ITADORI, mas quando ele percebeu q o itadori era irmão dele tbm (cofcof kenjaku cofcof) ele imediatamente SURTOU e aí eu AMO essa cena, é definitivamente a minha preferida do anime (por enquanto), e ele é tão amorzinho tlgd, sei q mta gnt pinta o choso como se ele fosse mt estoico e sério e blá-blá-blá mas ele DEFINITIVAMENTE não é nada disso (pelo menos p mim sabe) pq no anime e no mangá ele demonstrou mtas emoções (ESSE ÚLTIMO EP DO ANIME MOSTROU TUDO!!!!!!! @subsequentibis tagged me in the “how did you get into The Terror post and I LOVE talking about this story so I’m excited to get to tell it!

I’m not sure there are any blogs on tumblr that post 100% Moby-Dick content but there definitely weren’t a year or so ago when I was trying to find them. Even so, I found some very cool blogs that posted some MD content, as well as other stuff, one of whom was @ishmaelis (who I’m pretty sure I haven’t directly spoken to so sorry if it’s weird to tag you!). She also posted a good amount of Terror stuff that I saw on my dash frequently enough that I could recognize characters like Fitzjames and Crozier and had probably seen a good amount of others but didn’t know who they were.

I had no concept of what the show was about but I knew in my soul that I had to watch it and I was angry as hell about it because I thought it “wouldn’t be gay.” For context: I was just coming off of consuming several pieces of media that were very bait-y and disappointing with their supposed ‘representation’ and I really wasn’t down for getting misled AGAIN so needless to say my expectations were low. I tried to Not Watch It for literal months (while also faithfully avoiding spoilers almost completely as if I fully intended to watch it) until finally my dear friend Eli recommended it in my Moby-Dick server, completely independently from my own private thoughts, and I knew I had no choice.

I was still mad about it though, as evidenced by this message from 5/25/19:

The Bell Eliminator Helmet – Silodrome Hands-On Review

The Bell Eliminator Helmet was designed in the style of the automobile racing helmets of the 1970s but with a wider eye port for motorcycle use, and of course – full modern materials and safety.

Up until a few years ago there were almost no retro or classically-styled motorcycle helmets on the market that were built to full modern safety standards. This was an issue for those of us with vintage or classically-styled motorcycles who had little choice but to ride around with a modern helmet, many of which look remarkable similar to those favoured by the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Nowadays there are dozens of vintage looking helmets that offer full modern protection, and the Bell Eliminator is one of the most recent arrivals.

In order to ensure everyone can get an exact tailored fit, Bell builds the Eliminator in three shell sizes, with five different impact absorbing EPS liners. This helps guarantee have the right amount of protection without looking like a bobblehead.

The ProVision face shield is dual paned so you don’t have to mess with insert lenses, there are speaker pockets for optional communication devices, and the helmet is eyeglass friendly for those who wear corrective lenses or sunglasses. You can also take off the face shield and ride with sunglasses or goggles if you prefer.

BELL ELIMINATOR HELMET – DESIGN

The Eliminator offers four air intakes in the chin bar with a series of nine ports running along the top of the helmet. The visor can be removed quickly allowing the wearer to use goggles or glasses, and as mentioned previously, Bell designed the helmet to allow easy use of both regular glasses and sunglasses – an important feature for many people that is often overlooked.

Bell develop their helmets with input from wind tunnel testing and aerodynamicists, though (perhaps fortunately) this design is free of the excessive aero features common on helmets targeted more at track-focussed motorcyclists.

Each Bell Eliminator comes with two visors, a clear unit (fitted) and a dark tinted (in the box), there are also built-in speaker pockets for optional communication devices. These devices are becoming more and more popular, particularly with those who commute to work or use their motorcycle for long-distance rides.

Our Verdict

The Eliminator has a slightly larger chin bar than many helmets, giving you the sense that it covers more of your face which isn’t a bad thing. I have an oval shaped face and a couple of my modern full face helmets don’t cover my whole chin.

If you’ve faced similar problems you’ll know what I mean, and you’ll know how deleterious it is to get hit in the chin by a dragon fly at 80 mph when you’re on the highway.

The flip-up shield takes a solid prod with the left thumb to pop open, it has two positions and the optics are excellent. Field of vision is far more important with motorcycle helmets than it is with automotive racing helmets, and the Eliminator offers almost 180º. We tested it against some other modern helmets we have in the office and it’s the best of the lot so far as we could tell.

Vertically the viewport is a little shorter than some but it’s still expansive by any measure, and the trade off gives you that wider, longer chin bar which isn’t a bad thing.

At highway speeds the chin bar spoiler does its job, there’s no lift at all and there almost seems to be a little downforce at speeds of 70-80 mph or higher.

Wind noise is moderate at highway speeds which is surprising given the nine ports in the top of the helmets and the four open vents in the chin bar. The ear/speaker pockets do seem to be well insulated and they offer plenty of room for communication devices.

Each Eliminator comes in the characteristic big red Bell box, with a padded helmet bag that has a drawstring closure.

Overall the Eliminator is a very solid helmet and a welcome addition to the retro/classic genre, you know it’ll never go out of style and I suspect it’ll look good on almost any motorcycle – from modern to classic and everything inbetween.
