You ever just see the worst lovesquare takes and you know it’s not worth it to get involved and it’s not like it’s even salt but man we have been watching totally different shows
#sometimes I just want to grab them by the shoulders and shake like please omg have you not been paying attention at all???!?!#anyways Marinette is in no way oblivious to Adrien trying to confess to her#and Adrien did not even have the chance to reject her because she never actually ever got to a confession!#you can also see several examples throughout the show that he may actually have considered her a romantic#option if he didn’t think she was already involved with Luka#also also OMG THE LOVESQUARE HASN’T REVERSED! they’re both just pushing down their feelings for their original crushes because of trama!#not that they don’t actually love the other side of the other#they do#it’s just Marinette has given up on Adrien because she’s scared of making another mistake and Adrien has given up on Ladybug#because he’s scared of being hurt again be another rejection#Marinette has always had some feelings for Chat but was more focused on Adrien and then Chat was too dangerous an option and now suddenly#Adrien is the too dangerous option and Chat is back on the table for enthusiastic consideration#Adrien has also felt something for Marinette for a while but has continually chosen to believe and respect her words to him which have#told him that she’s not interested or is involved with someone else#he also had his fantasy with Ladybug to keep him going so he wasn’t really putting all his happiness and hopes and dreams#eggs in the Marinette basket#and then basically everyone was emotionally ripped away from him in season 4 except Marinette and oh look she’s no longer dating Luka either#I also feel it’s a really bad reading to say they are equal and opposite in their relationships with each others other half’s#they’re really not and it’s not really fair to the story to compare them that way#I feel like I’m just rehashing old arguments at this point#blehgh#ml#mon’s chatter

Adrien’s crush on Marinette
I’ve seen some claims that Adrien’s crush on Marinette in season 5 is sudden and poorly developed. I don’t agree with those opinions.
Firstly I’d like to point out that romantic love isn’t something that acts like an on/off switch. Romantic feelings are usually developing over some time (slower or faster, depending on a situation and people involved), like a spectrum that goes from slight attraction to full blown love. So it’s really hard to tell when exactly the love does begin. And it’s worth noticing that such feelings don’t usually grow in a linear, steady way, but rather in a logarythmic way—more slowly at the beginning and faster as the time goes by.
Adrien has some trouble with his feelings, because he used to be very lonely but at the same time he was followed by fans with their shallow feelings. His mother died and unfortunately his father’s love is conditional. Adrien is desperate for normal relationships, but also he doesn’t have a great point of reference what love and friendship truly are. He falls so easily for Ladybug because she’s the first person he meets after a long time of loneliness and isolation and who can see him as an equal, not a model to admire. It isn’t easy to let go of such a relationship. It’s no wonder Adrien struggles with his feelings. Not to mention an obvious fact that he’s just 14 yo.
In season 1 Adrien sees Marinette as an adorable classmate and slowly his feelings are growing. He’s attracted to her—she’s the only girl besides Ladybug that he seems to find attractive—but it isn’t a full blown crush yet, not even a fully conscious attraction. He also wants to be her friend, but their relation isn’t so close yet.
In season 2 their relationship turns into friendship. He trusts her and admires her. It isn’t just attraction and wish to be closer anymore, there’s also adoration and trust.
By the end of season 3 his feelings become more romantic in nature. In Puppeteer 2 he can hear Marinette confessing her love in a joking manner and for the first time he’s confronted with a more clear possibility that she’s romantically interested in him as her friend, not as a model. The physical sensation of the kiss is also much harder to ignore than simply emotions, especially that, though brief, it’s the first kiss he can remember.
In Chat Blanc he admits he always felt there was something more between them—him and Marinette, not him and Ladybug.
In Heart Hunter he admires Marinette’s appearance twice, staring at her with heart eyes, he takes her hand (only her hand, not both her and Kagami’s) when running away from the hotel and is sad and disappointed when Marinette has left them. But he doesn’t have such moments with Kagami (he admires her and finds her somewhat attractive, but those feelings are less pronounced than those that he has for Marinette, especially in this episode), yet when Kagami makes her feelings for him clear, he starts dating her. I’m quite positive that if it was Marinette instead of Kagami, he wouldn’t reject her. What’s more, their relationship would be much happier than the short one he had with Kagami. However, it would be far less satisfying for the audience. Starting a relationship just to see if it’ll work, without very strong feelings, happens in real life, but seeing him actively pursuing Marinette in season 5 is much more satisfying.
In season 4 he’s still not aware that he’s in love with Marinette, but he seems a bit more aware of his attraction to her and his unconscious crush keeps growing. He looks at her with heart eyes several times. In Mr Pigeon 72 he’s so focused on Marinette that he hits his head on the car. In Guiltrip there’s a pink background when he catches her after she has tripped—it’s not just Marinette’s feeling but both of them, judging by how the scene is framed. By the end of the season his feelings are quite developed and he considers her trustworthy enough to tell her more about his attitude towards modelling and his life in general.
What’s more, in season 4 he slowly explores his feelings for Ladybug and his role in the superhero team. By the end of the season he better understands Ladybug’s struggle, is more set on supporting her and is less desperate for her attention since he feels more secure in his everyday friendships and his role as a superhero. So his feelings for Ladybug aren’t so overwhelming anymore and he can move on.

For What It's Worth
Ao3
Rated: G. Language: English. Words: 1,014
Playing Truth or Dare with his friends led to Adrien discovering some truths about himself and Marinette.
A/N: This one-shot was inspired by a scene from Kimi ni Todoke (iykyk).
"I dare you to date Marinette for a month."
There were a few gasps escaping from the girls’ mouths.
Adrien was now looking into Kim’s smirking face.
He knew this game of truth or dare would result in nothing good when Kim decided to join.
Kim seemed to figure out Adrien’s crush on Marinette (was it Chloé or Lila who told him?).
To be fair, it wasn’t that hard to find out. Chat Noir has always worn his heart on his sleeve, but Adrien stayed calm and reserved, wary of showing his true feelings too much. Yet once he fell in love with his awesome classmate, he became unbridled.
He used every chance he got to kiss her cheek or send a loving look her way. He blushed furiously every time he caught a sight of Marinette, and his hand shot up immediately to scratch his neck, as if his limb were a separate creature acting totally on its own. His eyes lingered on Marinette every now and then, and he wouldn’t be surprised if someone told him that his pupils actually turned heart-shaped.
No wonder everyone has already figured that out. Everyone who had eyes could see that Adrien was totally infatuated by Marinette. That much was certain.
He’d been waiting with apprehension for the moment when someone evil-minded would take advantage of this knowledge.
And now the long-feared moment has come.
Adrien looked around and found out he was in the spotlight. All eyes were now directed at him.
All except Marinette’s. She was totally tomato-red and seemed to be overly focused on the pattern of the carpet beneath her feet, as if the whole situation had nothing to do with her. But by how stiff her raised shoulders were, you could see how embarrassed she really was.
"Not only have you two to date each other," Kim added as his devilish smirk grew bigger. "The dare includes holding hands and kissing as well. I’ll be watching you, so you’d better not try to fool me."
Adrien’s face flushed.
It was all too much now.
"No, Kim, you can’t do that to us," Adrien mumbled, realising fully well just how pitiful his voice sounded. "You have no right to play with our feelings."
He hated it. He hated this game, he hated Kim, he hated Chloé and Lila, or whoever suggested to Kim that it was a good idea. But most of all, he hated himself.
He couldn’t have been discreet enough, and now he got to see his feelings dragged through the mud and publicly made fun of.
Adrien knew he was more at fault than anyone else. Up until this day, he didn’t find it in himself to confess to Marinette properly and ask her out in a way she deserved. He postponed it all the time, waiting for the perfect moment, which never came. He wanted to be such a gentleman who falls to his knees in front of the girl of his dreams and gives her his heart and soul.
And look where that got him.
"Chill, dude, it’s just a game," Kim responded with a false cordiality. "Why are you being so strongly against a simple game?"
Something needed to be done quickly. If Adrien accepted this dare now, he'd screw up his relationship with Marinette before it even started. She would never believe that his urge to ask her out had nothing to do with Kim’s stupid prank and that Adrien’s feelings for her were genuine.
"Because it's not fair to Marinette," Adrien said, and his voice gradually regained its firmness. "Asking her out shouldn't be a joke or a game. She deserves to be treated respectfully, an amazing person she is."
There were new gasps and cooing coming from the girls. Many of them turned to look at Marinette to see how she was taking it.
"Besides, forcing her into a relationship with me, even temporarily, would be a cruel thing to do to her," Adrien continued. "She might not be interested in me that way. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it were the case, because I'm afraid I'm a rather unlovable guy."
Adrien seemed to forget by the end of his short speech that the girl in question was still there, so the last words of it came out so full of sorrow and pain.
Because he knew he barely stood a chance to win such a lovely girl’s heart.
The more he tried to spend time with Marinette lately, the more she seemed to avoid him. She became a trembling, stuttering cherry-red goo every time he approached her and used any excuse to escape.
Wasn't it ironic that the moment he realised that there wasn't, in fact, a living soul that understood him better than Marinette did, she decided she didn't want him around?
"No, you're not!"
Everyone's eyes were now looking at Marinette after this sudden outburst.
She jumped to her feet, her eyes full of a fierceness that somehow reminded him of Ladybug.
"Don't you dare… I mean I don't dare… I mean I dare you… ugh…"
She inhaled and exhaled several times before continuing, this time in a much steadier voice.
"Don't you dare say such things about yourself. Quit self-loathing. We're playing truth or dare now, so I dare you to love yourself because you are loveable. For what it's worth, I love you."
There was a deafening silence fallen upon the room.
Everyone looked at Marinette as if she'd grown a second head.
After blurting all of this out, Marinette looked like she was going to collapse, her legs slightly wobbling, seemingly surprised by her boldness, her eyes still throwing lightning.
She gathered up all her courage and looked up to meet his gaze.
She looked so endearing with these bright pink roses blooming on her cheeks and that coy smile lighting her face up, and Adrien immediately got lost in these cerulean eyes of hers, forgetting about the game, the dare, Kim, and everything and everyone who wasn't Marinette.
The magical, long-awaited moment has come.

adrien headcanon time
when adrien was little, his mom would take him to chloe’s hotel and they would run around and play while their parents would talk
once adrien bumped his nose playing outside and gabriel completely over reacted, never letting him out again 💀
adrien’s mom secretly taught him english from time to time so they could share secrets and not have Natalie or Gabriel pick up on them
Adrien noticed Natalie looking at his mother a little too long sometimes but never knew why (it only got more frequent with her sickness)
Adrien always considered Natalie a second mom but she had to act a certain way around him so he never expressed those feelings to her
Adrien had a lot of chat noir’s goofiness when he played with his mom and Felix. he never showed that side publicly after his mom passed away.
Adrien internalized a lot of the delicate treatment he always gets, so when he found out the chat noir suit is indestructible, he became very reckless and threw himself everywhere just because he could. mf turned into a bouncy ball
Adrien’s mom taught him everything he knows about being a proper gentleman but learning how to mix it into his personality through anime
His favorite animes growing up were sailor moon and pokémon (his favorite characters were Brock and Sailor Mercury)
his mom would sometimes secretly clear his schedule and take him out on errands with her and they would go to his mom’s favorite coffee shop (he would get hot chocolate)
Adrien doesn’t mind the taste of coffee but he’s not allowed to drink it
Adrien figured out how to bypass the monitoring software on his phone
when Adrien first met Marinette, he thought she was out of his league and he was being put in his place like those high school movies
he thought there would be more musical numbers at school :/
Adrien eventually found out that Marinette has ADHD (refer to my Marinette hc post) and he became very understanding and considerate of her all-over-the-place nature. a lot of things about her started making sense and he got less confused about any mixed signals.
he did some innocent research on the subject one day and found links to delayed sleep phase syndrome (which explained hee always being late in the morning), hyper focus, and rejection sensitive dysphoria (in my little world this detail makes sense later)
in my mind, he’s not actually that oblivious. he likes to play dumb to avoid either explaining himself or just so he can watch something play out. he’s actually a little too aware. however, he is so focused on all his extracurriculars, that he does fail to notice marinette’s state of being head over heels for him.
Adrien scrapes the dirt from under his nails as a nervous habit along with rubbing the back of his neck.
there have been several times Adrien has been fed up with somebody whether it’s modeling, his classmates or his father, and he just wants to turn into chat noir in bonk them on the head with his staff. The idea of that makes him laugh on the inside so his irritation never shows on his face or voice.
this is (mostly) a standalone post, but can be read as a part 2 to my marinette headcanon post :)

What if Marinette had mind-reading powers? (that some people (Marinette Salters) demand her to have)
So a what if Marinette is psychic?
F*** it, if the show can have random superheroes without a miraculous. Marinette can be psychic.
-Marinette always was sensitive to people’s intentions. It was almost as if she could read minds.
-That’s because she could.
-Now, I am going to assume that everything is basically the same up to Origins, except with the following differences
1. Marinette has always been able to read minds and has been avoiding getting close to people because of it (adding to the personal reason of her no friends)
2. Her parents know she can read minds and are mindful of her. Worrying and all that
3. When someone is transformed with the miraculous, the magic of the kwami’s magic prevents their minds from being read. Because the kwami can’t expose identities, so it makes sense to have a mental block. (This doesnt extend to akumatized people or sentimonsters UNLESS they are using a miraculous)
4. Marinette has lived her life with the powers and managed to find a way to minimize it. So the only persons mind she reads is the one she is directly looking at (which is why she tries to avoid looking at people)
-Marinette knows Chloe hates her and knows that Chloe’s home life is… well she knows the issues and feels more sympathy than anger. But still doesn’t like Chloé much.
-She has her encounter with Fu and his thought (she past) was weird but she didn’t dwell on it.
-Marinette befriends Alya and reading her mind figures out she is really good hearted. So she trusts her, but tries not to pry too much in her mind.
-Like in canon Marinette gets the ladybug miraculous, and she becomes ladybug.
-She meets chat noir and for the first time ever, she can’t read his mind. It was shocking. She tried not to dwell on it, but it through her off. Thankfully chat noir was there and helped her snap out of it.
-They beat stoneheart similar to the first time, but Ladybug is just as much impacted by meeting someone she couldn’t read. It scared her, yet excited her.
-Marinette’s first encounter with Adrien actually isn’t negative, since she can read minds, she knows he didn’t put the gum on her seat and was trying to remove it.
-Marinette thanks him, and Adrien felts understood for the first time in a long time.
-Marinette doesn’t pay too much kind to him, more focused on the cat boy she couldn’t really read.
-Adrien decides to try and befriend Marinette.
-Marinette does go through her hero crisis and it’s after getting the ladybug back and hearing chat noir’s motivation that even though she couldn’t read his mind, felt as genuine as thoughts. It moved her and motivated her.
-they beat stoneheart again and chat noir is impressed. But part of him still focused on that girl he met at school.
-It was rainy when Adrien approached Marinette. He was nervous and Marinette could tell. Fortunately, Marinette could read his intent. She agrees to be his friend, and that it’s okay to be nervous. She knows he has a good heart, and that she hopes he can get more experience with life outside of modeling.
-Adrien was thunderstruck. He gave her the umbrella, and thanked her.
-Marinette blushed, because she may have caught a lingering thought of him thinking she was pretty when laughing.

Miraculous Movie vs Show: Which did Romance Better?
Neither the movie nor the show is a solid piece of storytelling. They’re both riddled with flaws and with fun, cute moments. So, for my own entertainment, I decided to consider both and decide which one did the essentials better. First up: let's look at some core elements to decide which has the better romance?
Adrienette
While Adrinette is barely in the movie, it’s in it enough for us to compare the big moments: Marinette falling in love, their developing friendship, and Marinette asking Adrien out. That first item is an easy win for the show. While the umbrella scene and the library scene have similar pacing and emotional beats, the umbrella scene still wins hands down because it’s more than an act of basic human decency. Adrien is being kind to a person who wildly misjudged him, establishing a key element of his character and making us understand why he deserves a role beyond ‘pretty-boy crush’. It also elevates Marinette’s crush to something that feels true. Like she fell for him, not his looks or celebrity status.
The other two points are where things get tricky.
Because the movie didn’t drag the status quo out for 5 seasons, movie Adrienette has something that show Adrinette basically never did: a friendship. Movie Marinette talks to Adrien. She learns about his life. They hang out with their friends. She eventually works up the guts to ask him out! Her movie crush feels like more than a surface-level crush even though the scene that established the crush failed to give us that impression.
If movie Adrienette had more screen time, then it might actually have won this point, but its brief nature and the weakness of the setup make this one a win for the show. While the show has largely butchered Adrienette, the umbrella scene can’t be overlooked when comparing the core elements (setup, development, ending). It’s the scene that made me actually start shipping the square because, prior to that, Marinette’s crush felt like nothing special and you did wonder why Adrien won over Chat Noir. Without the umbrella scene or something similar, the movie makes that question stick around: story wise, why is Adrien winning here? He feels like a pretty generic crush.
Ladynoir
If we look at the same three elements (setup, development, ending), then show Ladynoir and movie Ladynoir don’t have all that much to differentiate them. Similar meeting, similar moment where Chat Noir falls in love, similar team bonding, similar romantic confession moment where Ladybug shoots him down for Adrien. The big thing that sets the movie apart and the reason why I’m giving it the point is the fact that the movie focuses on Ladynoir being partners.
While the “better together” element is not well executed in terms of explaining what the heck it even means, it’s there and that’s something that the show has completely failed to give us. Outside of the yin-yang symbol and the fact that Creation and Destruction are clearly a pair, there’s nothing in the show to explain why Chat Noir needs to be there. In fact, one might even question why Fu handed out the ladybug and the black cat when those are the miraculouses that the villain wants and only the ladybug seems necessary to fix things. In the movie, that question is answered right from the start and that makes it the clear winner.
Identity Reveal
The show has had three of these, the movie had one. Since two of the show’s reveals lead to the end of the world and the third involved them not even knowing that it was an identity reveal, I feel like I have to give this to the movie. It’s the only one that’s fully satisfying for the audience.
If I was just comparing the movie and Oblivio, then I’d have a harder time calling it because I love Oblivio, but Ephemeral and Chat Blanc are such slaps in the face to ‘the power of love always so strong’ that the movie has to get the point.
Getting Together
This is tied to the identity reveal in the movie, but not in the show. In the show, we have the Chat Blanc moment, the Ephemeral moment, Oblivio, and Kwami’s Choice. Because I judged the first three of those in the previous section and because they got reset, I’ll be nice and compare the movie to Kwami’s Choice, which does deserve some praise.
While the overall message of that special was idiotic, the moment where Adrien figured out a way to get around Marinette’s talking issues was adorable. It’s the sort of stuff that I love to write for them. The movie didn’t give us that. The dance in the snow is adorable, Adrien crying makes you want to hug him, but it is a rather generic moment that could have happened between many couples. The hand thing? That's unique to their characters. It shows Marinette’s issues and Adrien’s kindness beautifully, so I’ll give this one to the show.
Romantic Tension
I needed a deciding item and this is the one that I’m going with! It’s something that the movie did well while the show doesn’t really have it, which is a big flaw for something that decided to randomly reverse the crushes. You see, if movie Ladybug suddenly fell for Chat Noir, then I’d buy it. When show Ladybug did it? It was blatantly obvious that it was just filler to add tension. I also didn't buy Adrien's flip, but let's not get into that!
As the story moves along, movie Ladybug is shown to care deeply for her partner through their developing (if confusing) "better together" message. Their song scene is adorable and romantic and it feels genuine. Show Ladynoir could never pull something like that off because Ladybug has always kept Chat Noir at arm's length due to the need to preserve the status quo so that a 2-season story could be drawn out to 6+ seasons.
There's a thin line between romance and friendship. Walking that line makes for a good story. The movie walks the line. The show runs away from it screaming because you can only walk a line for so long. Eventually, you have to pick a side. The story has to end. Draw out the tension too long, insert too much drama, and your audience will start to view your end-game couple as deeply unhealthy because you've done so much to keep them apart that the viewer has started to wonder if getting them together is actually the right call.
Final Thoughts
While the movie is far from perfect, its romance is going to feel far more genuine for established fans who wanted a well-paced romance for the love square. The show has done too much to drag things out and preserve the status quo, turning an adorable love story into an angst-fueled disaster.
As someone who loves seeing tragedy bring couples together, that’s a massive disappointment, so it’s nice to have the moments from the movie even if the movie didn’t do the work to earn the moments. And it didn't. It really didn't.
If you’re not already a Miraculous fan, then I would not recommend the movie as I don’t think that the romance (or really any element) will feel satisfying. While the show is flawed, it gives fans the setup they need so that they can watch the movie and insert the missing pieces that were needed to make the story work. Without the show, the movie falls apart because nothing is properly set up. And, yes, my Ladrien loving heart is sad that we didn't see any hero/civilian moments, but I'm not holding that against it. Movies are short and need to focus on the core elements of a story. Ladynoir and Adrinette are the core of the romance and the movie did both of them decently well.
What do you think? I may do more of these show vs movie things if people found this one interesting.

The ending scenes of Wishmaker had a lot of development and foreshadowing.
On the positive note, both Adrien and Marinette are moving on. The theme of the future isn’t as scary for them anymore. They feel ready to tackle it on even though they were so lost at the beginning of the episode.
Tumblr media
Adrien (as he is looking a picture of him with his mom) : I may not remember my childhood dream, but that’s okay. It’s time to focus on the future and find my inner music like Luka said.
Adrien steps forward and while he accepts part of his past, he decides that what matters is what is ahead of him. He sets himself in a quest to find himself. Which contrasts with his scene with Kagami inside the art club at the beginning of Lies where he thought he knew himself.
Tumblr media
Kagami : These are all modeling poses. Try something that is more natural, more you.
Adrien : What about meow! Err.. I mean, now.
Kagami : No. You are not at all natural.
Adrien : Yes, I am. I promise. This is the real me.
Kagami : No! It’s you when you are being silly.
Adrien : What if I’m being silly I’m really me?
Adrien has arrived at a point where he is questionning where he stands. He said so at the beginning of the episode. Both about his civilian and superhero sides of him.
Tumblr media
Plagg : Don’t you want to continue to model?
Adrien : I don’t think so, Plagg. I’m doing it now because my father asked me to and I realize now I don’t know what else I want to do. I’ve never asked myself that question...
Plagg : What do you think of Chat Noir as a career?
Adrien : Well, since Ladybug keeps giving Miraculous out to other Holders, one day, she’ll probably won’t need me anymore.
Adrien realizes his life and role is either controlled or dependant of others because he personally doesn’t know what he wants for himself. And this is one of the reasons that lead for Chat Blanc’s akumatization to turn awry. Because he was torn and lost. Because the two most important people of his life were trying to influence him in opposite direction when he was in an extreme vulnerable mental state that didn’t allow him to think for himself.  And because he lost control of himself, his powers went out of control too.
And in that timeline, because he was living a dream, CB!Adrien had never mentally prepared himself to find his own voice before the reality punch him in the face.
Now, it is too early to say that Chat Blanc has been fully avoided, because there is still a lot of work to do, but after Wishmaker (along with Optigami, Sentibubbler and Rocketear), Adrien is on the right path to find his voice and find what he truly wants for himself.
As for Marinette...
Tumblr media
Marinette (facing the choices ahead of her) : You know what? I’ve decided I’ll do it all! I’ll be Ladybug. I’ll design clothes, jewelry, furnitures, space rockets! I’ll be Luka’s best friend and I will love Adrien!
Tumblr media
Fluff : But how are you going to do it at the same time?
The choice of Fluff in this particular scene is very clever.
Fluff is the Kwami of Evolution and is heavily associated to time. Their Miraculous is a watch and their superpower allows their holder to time-travel.
But there is more to that. It is a recall to Timetagger. To a discussion Ladybug had with Bunnyx.
Tumblr media
Bunnyx : You can always count on Ladybug. With her around, every problem has a solution.
Ladybug : How I ever get to be like that...?
Bunnyx : By growing up, Minibug.
This was how Marinette was. Unsure, overhelmed. But look at her now.
Tumblr media
Marinette : I don’t know how yet, but yes, I can do this!
She is boasting with confidence. She is accepting herself how she is. She is most probably chasing two hares at the same time, but she also accepts she will drop it sometimes too. She is confident she can rebound. But while I love how determined she is and isn’t scared of the unknown variables (for now), I cannot help but notice she appears to have forgotten something.
In her enumeration, she forgets to count Chat Noir, her partner. I am a bit worry about this. Being Ladybug means many things to her, but I’m afraid she is solely focusing on the duty of her job and doesn’t realize she is lacking on the human relationship aspect of her job with her partner.
I mean, it’s great that Marinette loves herself now and feels she can face anything now. It’s a great step she has accomplished since the end of S3 and the show is not subtil about it at all xD Like...
Tumblr media
Right after she has come to her conclusions, we get Fabulous Alec appearing on screen with the moral.
Alec : And now we are going to love one another, starting with everyone loving themselves! Because how are you going to love other people if you don’t love yourself?
And both Marinette and Adrien have accomplished that. They have evolved from the selves they were back at the end of Truth and Lies. But now, Adrien needs to build himself enough to face his father, but also to find his place in Ladybug’s team. And Marinette needs to have some important discussions with her partner.
And this is summed up in the ending card
Tumblr media
Fabulous Alec is the manifestation of self-love and he reaches everyone with his light, shielding them from Shadow Moth. There are also music notes that creates a barrier. Because Luka’s music allegories have made an impact on both Marinette and Adrien.
Marinette has her music note and it is as if she owns it. Adrien doesn’t have any note nearby him because he has just begun his personal quest.
We see Ladybug and Chat Noir fighting together while being watched over by Luka who now knows both superherores’ secret identity.
Also, please note where Adrien is place in the picture. He is at the bottom right. And it feels like Adrien is leaving the frame completely. And to be himself, he may need to continue to distance himself in the process. But it also places him in the complete opposite direction where Shadow Moth is. Adrien is heading in a different direction that Shadow Moth AKA Gabriel AKA his father might want him to stay.
As for Marinette/Ladybug, she is not noticing the growing distance occuring.

Do you have any recs for the reversed lovesquare? So like Ladybug likes Chat, Adrien likes Mari?
I honestly don't tend to read a lot of reverse love square. I'm not a fan of the life-swap and personality-swap tropes I often see if paired with, so I steer clear of those. I have come across a few amazing fics, however, so without further ado:
Cards Against Ladybug's Identity by @coffeebanana
A game of Cards Against Humanity and a little too much vodka on her eighteenth birthday results in Marinette spilling a few too many secrets. And maybe Adrien has a couple confessions of his own if he can work up the nerve.
Season 4 spoilers (Mostly Gang of Secrets, Optigami).
One-shot. This is one where they've fallen for the other sides of each other. Also, it's HILARIOUS. From the moment Alya plays her card, I was cracking up, and I didn't stop as it got more and more ridiculous lmao. They're all (except Alya really lol) just so dumb and it's fantastic and amazing and there's an identity reveal and just read it!
be your july by Reiaji
Two years after leaving home, Adrien has a room, a loving found family, and a thankless job with Audrey Bourgeois, the only figure in fashion with enough clout to bypass his father’s blacklisting.
He also has a zero percent success rate when it comes to courting Marinette Dupain-Cheng, Audrey’s relentlessly brilliant protégé.
With two miraculouses in the mix, it all gets a little complicated.
Multi-chapter. This fic is a canon divergence where Marinette went to New York in Style Queen and Adrien leaves home/Gabriel when he's legally able. This is after she's returned and they're both adults here. The love square has always been reversed, and each chapter focuses on a different side of the new square, showing how these changes have impacted the different dynamics. It's absolutely gorgeous, and the way Adrien is so earnest and heartbreakingly insecure shapes the story and hurts in the best way. Also the identity hijinks asdfghjkl
tell me something i don't know by @carpisuns
Do you think it still means something? To love someone, even if the universe said you had to?
The odds of having a soulmate are about negative one billion (or something like that). But somehow, like they always have, Marinette and Chat Noir find themselves together. They’re ready to finally tell each other everything, but it turns out that even soulmates have to keep secrets, and they can only be together if they vow never to touch.
Multichapter. Warning: this is a WIP! But it’s SO GOOD and SO CLOSE to being finished. This is set an indeterminate amount of time in the future, and though it focuses on Marinette’s feelings for Chat, and Adrien’s feelings for Marinette, it’s more of an expansion of the love square than a true reversal, and it hits on all of the different dynamics. I’m obsessed with this one and try to read the updates as soon as they’re posted.
I Would Give You Some Violets by @mikauzoran
She loves me a little...a lot...madly...not at all. Chat can never be sure with Marinette, and while she says she has a crush on someone else, there are times when he can't help but believe that she returns his feelings. If only he could gather the courage to reach out...
A series of interconnected Marichat drabbles.
Multi-chapter. So my absolute, absolute favourite trope of all time is mutual pining. And this fic has AMAZING mutual pining. I felt like I was going to explode as I was reading it, which is something I look for in a fic lol Aside from the delicious tension between them, there's also really great explorations of parental relationships, especially Adrien's relationship with Sabine.
balancing act by @fictionalinfinity
“Besides, being Ladybug always came first. It came before school, friends, and sometimes even family. Now it had to come before her health. Marinette had a duty to Paris. She wouldn’t let them down.”
Or, being both Ladybug and the Guardian starts to take its toll on Marinette.
-
the epilepsy au literally no one asked for
Multi-chapter. Oooh boy. A fic where Marinette has epilepsy and the symptoms are woven into the existing canon in such a believable and organic way. The characterizations are AMAZING, and the conflict is just so completely believable and absolutely heart-wrenching. This starts out with traditional love square post-season 3, and then we slowly get to watch the reversal happen.

Dude I just realized that the three times we saw Gabriel twist his ring to control Adrien with full and direct intention on using his sons senti-nature against him it was always in highly important situations for Gabriel where Adrien didn't obey his father blindly.
And it had me SPIRALING about season 5 yall!
Tumblr media
First time after Adrien stood publicly against the Agreste brand' oxygen project in collaboration with the city hall and the Tsurugis, taking active part in the process that undid Gabriels plan.
And the other two times were in "Ephemeral". First when Gabriel wants to ditch his new launch press conference that's dedicated to Emilie so he tells Adrien he isn't feeling well so Adrien will represent him, to which Adrien naturally replies with "but the people are there to speak with you??" and Gabriel immediately feels attacked like the rational person he is
Tumblr media
And the third time of course was when Gabriel found out that Adrien is Chat Noir and force Adrien into getting akumatized after he puts up a fight and makes it verbally and physically very clear that he does NOT want to help his father voluntarily in his mission for the miraculous
Tumblr media
Those are three important and high stakes situations for Gabriel and I just realized that that him using the ring like this against Adrien is basically a metaphor for an highly abusive parent feeling so cornered by their child's refusal to obey blindly that they try to hit them back into obedience.
Notice how all three of these situations are the private moments before or after an event or actions by the Agreste in public and where do abusive parents tend to hit their children much, much, MUCH more often than anywhere else? Privately and behind closed doors where no-one else can see or hear it.
You know when I think about it the occurrence of violence in some form by Gabriel against Adrien is a consistent element in such episodes where the Agrestes escalate.
Tumblr media
The most obvious example is of course "Chat Blanc" where both Adrien and Gabriel where transformed as Chat Noir and Hawkmoth but never confronted each other as civilians so the show got away with blatant physical abuse.
Tumblr media
In "The Collector" Gabriel faked a temper tantrum by destroying his room explicitly to guilt trip Adrien back into obedience and to use it as an alibi for why he got akumatized. He also was directly after Adrien once he was akumatized.
Tumblr media
And in "Gorizilla" Gabriel was back on thinking that Adrien may be Chat Noir so he akumatized the Gorilla when Adrien ran away again and continued to use Adrien as bait while putting him in ALOT of direct danger.
Those are the one I remember on top of my head. There are probably more though.
Anyway, my point was that the dynamic between Adrien and Gabriel always includes some degree of violence again Adrien from his father, always depending on the situation, the circumstances (public, business or private, civilian or transformed etc) when their home situation escalates in some way. As the show went on this violence has gotten more and more explicit and intense in the ways the show got away with til now. And now in season 4 we have reached the point where Gabriel directly using the ring on Adrien like this is fraimed in specific situations that absolutely allow you to read it as a metaphor for "Dude, if the show had a higher age rating Gabriel could have absolutely hit his son here!"
And as most of us know now, this is going to be the case in season 5. The age rating HAS been raised. And not gonna lie, it does make me very worried that season 4 as the last season of the original miraculous story with this lower age rating is the one that was almost entirely focused on Marinette/Ladybug and basically cut the Agrestes out to the minimum the narrative needed them for to set stuff up for Adrien, rip Adrien and Gabriel as good as apart through distance and mostly reduced their entire roles on what each of them can do for MARINETTES side of the story.
I have already spoken about this before, which shouldn't be a surprise at all, look at my blogs name and tells me what you expect me to be here for, but I missed the Agrestes the way s1-s3 portrayed them with most of their focus actually on their FAMILY, ALOT this season. And concidering that the narrative pressed almost everything related to Marinettes miraculous hero/ guardian plot from s1-s3 into season 4 and dialed it up to eleven to take care of Marinettes horrible devils circle to now have put her at the beginning of her way AWAY from it towards healing for good, means this is not what season 5 is gonna be about. At least definitely not in any way near the same intensity of only Marinette/Ladybug focus like season 4, because this season prepared almost EVERYTHING Marinette would need in the season that revolves around escalating the Family Agreste story the same way Marinettes miraculous hero/guardian story escalated in season 4 in intense and unseen heights and resolve not only their horrifying family story but also the very core of the problems that created Marinettes problems and the entire reason all of this even started in the first place through the Agrestes.
And the fact that the last season, the one where everything Agreste related built up til now clashes as the finale season of the original miraculous story, is the one that gets the higher age rating is beyond concerning. Because season 4 was already brutal in its own rights and yet it only included the things that the lower age rating ALLOWED them to include. So with as little narrative presents the Agreste family had in s4 beyond the limited parts of their roles that were needed to serve Marinettes Story... that really makes you ask yourself what the hell the Agrestes have in store for us that the narrative only wants to dive into with a higher age rating. What the writing didn't wanted to waste on even s4 yet because of the lower age rating.
Because not gonna lie, as much as I like the idea of how much importance the Agreste are now gonna have again (and FINALLY back with their emotional core as focuse as "Risk" showed us) im not a fan of how the show seperated Marinettes and Adriens stories into two different seasons to resolve everything from s1-s3, but I guess when I look at the few intense and horrible stuff regarding the Agreste family we DID get in s4 then yeah, okay, I accept that the show waited for a higher age rating to tell their story.
Tumblr media
Which brings me back to my initial topic:
With everything this show has put Adrien through in the lower age rating regarding his family, his father and his place in the miraculous team - ESPECIALLY the things in season 4 that the finale didn't even touch upon to resolve (which is straight up MOST of it) because Adrien as both Adrien and Chat Noir in "Strike back" was still almost exclusively kept in his limited role that serves Marinettes story, which was the focus this season to resolve (Risk set up the Agrestes for s5 and Strike back went back to the Marinette focus to finish up her season), what the FUCK is gonna happen to him in season 5 when EVERYTHING that 4 SEASONS have refused to resolve til now is finally gonna clash here?
Because there is SO MUCH of the narrative still missing. Basically the entire family Agreste backstory and interestingly enough not even season 4 had Marinette take actual interest in the backstory and true nature of the miraculous and Kwamis either. One would have thought that it would have been season 4 where Marinette would explore all of this but it just never came. Su-Han for example was introduced but all three, Marinette, Su-Han and the narrative just said "nah don't explore any of this on a deeper level, do what you want and use it as power ups and more temporary heros in akuma battles".
So the same way season 4 has only set up and touch just a little further on the true story behind the Agrestes the same happened ironically with the true and deeper story of the miraculous as well. Both of the CORE NARRATIVES OF THIS SHOW were only explored further in season 4 in honesty painfully limited ways (do you understand why this season was so frustrating for me??). Meaning these two narratives absolutely go hand in hand to a solid degree. The exploration of the miraculous ALSO requires a higher age rating like the Agrestes and the fact that all of this is now coming together in the season where Adrien will take on a new role in the story as both parts of the season 4 finale VERY clearly establish for season 5 is concerning me in so many ways I don't know how to put it into words yet.

Miraculous Rant.
Where the hell do I begin…
Season 1:
The show was decent in season 1. Some episodes were just mindless filler and probably weren’t needed in the grand scheme of things but they helped us get introduced to the characters, we got to know the plot and the world our characters inhabit. It was good. The love story between Adrien and Marinette was cute and off to a touching and fluffy start.
Season 2:
This season was immediately better than season 1. It had character development, it went more into detail about the lore surrounding the Miraculous and we got to learn more about our characters and their families and the villian’s motives. (HM really went from “I wanna destroy the world” to “I wanna wake my wife from the coma she’s in”).
We got to see new heroes which was fun! We got new characters like Luka and Kagami.
The season finale was epic! The Miraculous team all taking down all the previous villains in the show was awesome. At the end we even got Mari kissing Adrien on the cheek. It was great! (Even though it clearly reset itself in season 3 cause it’s never mentioned again)
I really enjoyed season 2 and it’s probably my favourite out of the 4.
Season 3:
Season 3 was kinda good and kinda bad. We had some great episodes but this is where the show took the wrong turn.
Marinette lost some of her character in season 3. This was the start of her descent into being the Queen of Mary Sues. It’s also where she was crowned the Queen of Stalkers! Her character took a fucking nose dive in this season. We had so many moments that just creeped me the fuck out.
1. The ENTIRETY of Puppeteer 2 🤢🤢🤢 I could not stand that episode. When we reached the dreaded statue scene I physically had to pause it like 10 times. That scene takes about 3 minutes to watch… it took me about 20. I cringed so fucking hard because of the secondhand embarrassment I was feeling. That was not sweet, it wasn’t romantic, it wasn’t the least bit cute… it was a train wreck! It was creepy and stalkerish and it’s a wonder Adrien even spoke to her again after that atrocity!
2. LB delivering the present in Chat Blanc. Two words: STALKER BEHAVIOUR!!! I genuinely could not believe my eyes when I saw LB run her hand across everything in his room and then actually SNIFF Adrien’s pillow. Like WTF!!! 🤮 I’m pretty sure whoever was responsible for that scene clearly thought it was the equivalent of when someone gets their S/O’s jumper or something and it still smells like them. But this turned it up to the nth degree and way passed the line of sanity.
Adrien was extremely under-utilised in this season. He didn’t really do anything. The only episodes we got about him didn’t really focus on him. ‘Felix’ whilst focusing on Adrien’s family didn’t really feature him. ‘Party Crasher’ while a beautiful mess was more about Mari trying to get into the party than the party itself. ‘Chat Blanc’ again focused more on Mari trying to fix her mistake.
We got even more heroes in season 3, not in the right order but they were there. It was fun seeing everyone’s transformations.
Season 3 was also the season of destroying redemptions. The big one obviously being Chloe. Season 2 was setting up this amazing redemption for her and before it could go anywhere it was wiped off the face of the earth during the finale (and don’t worry we’ll get to that dumpster fire later). Gabriel also had any remaining sympathy ripped away from him. How did the guy who stopped Gorizilla from letting Adrien die when he only thought he was CN go from that to using his son like fucking baseball in Chat Blanc when he knew his son was CN. Like I knew you were a shit father but you still cared about Adrien in some way shape or form but after that episode I can see I was clearly mistaken!
Before we get to the finale I want to talk about probably my 2 least favourite episodes from this season: Desperada and Reflekdoll
Desperada:
I fucking hated this episode! The only good thing was Luka getting to be Viperion, other than that this episode was awful!
Marinette was a selfish cringey bitch. Completely ignoring Luka to gush about Adrien to Jagged. Brushing Luka off as soon as Adrien turns up. Immediately cuddling up to Aspik and flirting with him when she needed to focus on the akuma (something which she has told CN not to do many times before)
Adrien, I love you kid but Jesus Christ you were a dumbass in this episode! Aspik’s design was terrible! Aspik himself was awful. I know Adrien tried his best but dude you were given the Black Cat miraculous for a reason! He shouldn’t have tried to be Aspik but even when he did he should’ve called it quits after like 5 resets not 25,913 times.
The only person with a brain this episode was Luka. So well done guitar boy, gold star!
Reflekdoll:
This episode was annoying! It was basically the start of the Marinette can do no wrong streak! When they have to swap miraculous I was happy cause it meant we got to see new outfits and see how they each handle the different powers. It would also serve as a way to get LB and CN to see what their partners role is first hand. Until we actually get to it…
LadyNoire is of course amazing and needs no introduction to using this new miraculous that she’s never used before. She’s cocky and confident and basically just LB in Chat’s costume with his powers.
Mister Bug on the other hand is just useless. He struggles with this new miraculous (like anyone would!) and is stupid and goofy. He has to rely on LadyNoire to solve the lucky charm. They swapped miraculous so shouldn’t that mean that Mister Bug should get the lucky vision and the creative powers that the earrings give him.
Overall Reflekdoll is awful. It was shitty writing and the start of Adrien getting the short end of the stick.
And now the season 3 finale… Just what the fuck. That is my only reaction: what the fuck!
Chloe you poor fucking child! What did they do to you!!! So much potential SQUANDERED!!!!
What was the point in bringing in all these different superheros with unique skill sets, costumes and transformations if you were just going to immediately reveal them to the main villian so they can’t be used again. That’s stupid! If you wanted the shock value that is “Oh no HM knows some of the heroes identities!” Then keep it as only some. Have like Max, Kim and Kagami outside trying to find somewhere to hide but unfortunately they get hit. Or Nino and Alya are hiding but the windows open and they get hit. Have some of the heroes hide so they’re fine! Taking away every ally of LB and CN’s was a stupid move! (Even if they wanted Alya to become a spy have her as part of the like 4 that get revealed or something, it’s not that difficult)
Season 3 was 50/50 for me
Season 4:
So I know season 4 isn’t even halfway through yet but so much is wrong with this season already that I need to vent!
So my biggest problem with this season of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybitch and Rena Rouge, I mean Rena Furtive… shit, Chat Noir! Is that CN is basically pointless! Adrien has been flung over a rainbow and is only remembered when he’s needed as
1. Marinette’s love interest
2. Someone for LB to shout at
3. A plot device
He has basically been sidelined. Partners my ASS!!!
Adrien is being blown off by pretty much EVERYONE! It’s coming to a point where this poor sweet summer child is going to crack! And it is not gonna be pretty… I definitely feel like the writers are leading up to a big fight between CN and LB which will probably end with Chat Blanc 2.0.
I REALLY HATE MARINETTE/LADYBUG!!!! In Season 3 I said it was the beginning of her descent, well in season 4 she’s done it. She’s descended, she has hit rock fucking bottom. She is so unlikable I don’t actually care about her as a person. She has entered full blown stalker territory it’s only a matter of time before she starts killing people for even looking at Adrien! Not to mention that Miss Mary Sue here can’t do anything wrong! She never has to suffer the consequences of her actions, she is always perfect no matter what she does… it pisses me off!)
She’s the Guardian now big whoop. I know what it feels like to be stressed and under pressure so I do understand why she needed to tell someone about it all. I just don’t see why that person had to Alya! Especially considering she has someone by her side every akuma attack going through pretty much the exact same thing. I know she’s worried about CB happening again but as I said before the more she leaves him out the more she is actually pushing that to become a possibility! Plus it makes sense for them to reveal their identities now since LB is now the guardian it’s probably a good idea to know who holds the cat miraculous, she knows everyone else’s identities!
Even if she didn’t want to tell CN her identity she could still explain the situation to him. If she didn’t want to tell him anything (which she doesn’t anyway) then instead of Alya she should’ve talked to Luka! Her boyfriend for all of half an episode (thanks writers…). He’s so sweet and caring and clearly loves her so much! If she wanted someone to confide in then why not choose the person you clearly wanted to date but couldn’t because of that very reason! (Yeah I know it’s kinda a moot point now since Luka knows both identities but still). He wanted to try and comfort her so it would’ve been the perfect moment for it. That way you could still date him and he’d know why you had to suddenly leave dates halfway through! But no break the boys heart instead!
Adrien and Marinette were both such fucking idiots in the first 2 episodes. Like why would you start a relationship with someone when you know your heart isn’t in it! That’s called leading someone on and is a really shitty thing to do to someone! No wonder Kagami and Luka ended up akumatized!
Another aspect of season 4 I don’t like is Rena Furtive. Yes ok having a spy for your side is a good strategy but when said spy basically tells an important member of a duo that the 2 person job doesn’t involve them… it just really ticks me off! Alya you are the sidekick to LB and CN! Chat isn’t!
Miraculous specials:
The Miraculous World specials suck! Shanghai is better than NY but still has its problems. Both specials add nothing to the overall plot/lore of the show apart from trying to set up some weird cinematic universe…
NY special:
One of the worst things I’ve ever had to sit through! The plane scene alone I paused a few times. I want to say well done to Mari for trying to move on from Adrien (especially considering I’m pretty sure she’s dating Luka at this point) but I can’t help but think it’s just to give her character some pointless development that goes nowhere and doesn’t actually develop anything!
LB can pretty much fuck off at this point! I hate her! She put all this shit on CN (like she doesn’t know exactly how that feels). It’s like why does she get to go off on holiday but CN can’t. LB should’ve stayed in Paris for 3 reasons:
1. She’s recently become the guardian meaning it would probably be best that she stayed with the Mircle Box
2. She’s the only one who can purity the akumas
3. If she’s so sure about being the boss then she should take responsibility of Paris and the citizens.
What really pisses me off about her is what she says to CN during the big fight. “I can’t trust you”… surely you could have this conversation afterwards since you’re supposed to be focusing on taking down the villian! Plus everyone bashes Adrien for giving his miraculous up in this episode but look at it from his point of view: His partner and best friend just said she couldn’t trust him which in turn caused him to cataclysm someone and essentially kill them. That’s gonna take a toll on anyone, especially a 14 year old! He probably thought in that moment. “Ladybug needs a partner she can trust and someone who won’t mess up and kill someone. She needs a better partner.” It makes sense he renounces his miraculous! I’m just upset that in doing so he loses Plagg who is pretty much his only friend who actually understands what Adrien goes through at home.
When Uncanny gets CN to come back, LB acts like it’s not her fault in the first place that he feels inadequate! She didn’t even apologise for saying what she did! He apologised for lying about not being in Paris but nope LB wasn’t in the wrong at all and didn’t have anything to apologise for 🙄… (yes the LadyNoir hug was amazing but I just wish it was under different circumstances!)
Also are we not gonna mention Gabriel Agreste almost starting WW3??? He wanted to launch a fucking missile!!!
Shanghai:
As I said before, this special is way better for several reasons.
We got MariChat! (Best side to the love square imo). This special actually had some semblance on a plot. Fei, whilst a bit op, was a cool character. It was nice to see Wang Cheng again.
However once again there were many problems.
A big one being Marinette yet again! (What a shock! 😒 I’ll come back to this). Another was that once again HM’s motivation has changed. How is getting the Prodigious gonna help bring back Emilie??
Back to Marinette… The fact that the words “Huh?! There must be some kind of mistake! I always know what's up with Adrien! … His 5 first names and every corresponding name date, his yearly schedule, even his shoe size! If there were anything to know about him, I would know it!” come out of her mouth whilst she is flipping through his schedule that she keeps in her pocketbook is a hugh red flag!!! That is not cute or adorable! That’s messed up and Adrien needs to fucking run and maybe possibly go into witness protection… Marinette is a full blown stalker! Not to mention the GPS she has (that could just be the find my friends app on iphone but still).
It also is extremely rude of her to use not only her great uncle’s birthday but also a lie about wanting to know her Chinese heritage in order to go to Shanghai to stalk her obsession, I mean crush. This could’ve been avoided if the Dupain-Chengs were going to Shanghai for the purpose of celebrating Wang Cheng’s bday and then Adrien just so happened to be in Shanghai.
Also this means LB left Paris without telling CN! I know CN did the same but again he can’t purify the akumas. Plus he has a reason he couldn’t stay in Paris, Mari just went cause her crush did. Great guardianship there Marinette.
This was also the last time CN actually did something. Even if it was for a short while before LB and her female partner took over (the beginning of a theme…)
Other things:
There are 2 other things that I wanna say but felt they needed a separate bit.
In Furious Fu, Su-Han has a rule book that he uses to tell Marinette which rules she has broken. At the end of the episode he tells her that is she breaks 1 more rule that he will take the Miraculous and the Miracle Box off her, which fair enough but wouldn’t it be helpful to leave the rule book with her?! How can she be wary of not breaking anymore rules when she doesn’t even know what the rules are??
Now the big one: Master Fu…
Where do I even start with him. He is so fucking manipulative!! He is Asian Dumbledore!
He decides to leave these extremely powerful jewels in the hands of 13 year olds! Surely leaving the miraculous to someone in their 20s would’ve been better!
He clearly favours LB over CN even though the Ladybug and Black Cat are supposed to be partners! Wouldn’t it make sense for them both to be in contact with the guardian from the start?? He randomly started introducing rules such as if LB and CN find out each other’s identities they would lose their miraculous… what kind of bullshit rule is that? It also came out of fucking nowhere!
Final Thoughts:
But to summarise all of that: Miraculous is on quite a steep decline but I’m invested at this point and I am genuinely curious as to where the fuck this will go.
Marinette needs professional fucking help before the writers even consider canonising Adrienette cause at the moment she is not what Adrien needs!
Adrien needs to stand up for himself! He needs to pull LB to the side and tell her what he feels and what he’s going through cause he is on the precipice of a breakdown!
(Small point that’s more to do with the fandom: when searching for fanfics it’s really annoying that Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir Bashing is a tag but Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug Bashing isn’t. Why does everyone think Marinette can do no wrong???)

Submitted prompt: Mentality Swap
(this prompt was submitted anonymously, not by me lol)
Chaos.
Chaos and confusion everywhere in Paris as the influence of Akuma, named Viewpoint, spread in the city.
The Akuma themselves looked calm and silent, a stark contrast to many of the other Akumas who were more blatant in their desires and more violent.
Marinette couldn’t figure what the Akuma’s goal was.
The only thing she knew is that the Akuma’s power is the ability to unleash some energy beam that for some reason, always strikes two different people who were close to each other.
The only thing she saw happening is that the targets showed signs of confusion, fear, horror, excitement, and everything in between, with a lot of them screaming, some with giddiness, and some from horror.
She protected herself from another ray of beams by spinning her yoyo in front of her, gritting her teeth.
She could have already finished this battle already if she had help.
“Chat! Stop calling us a couple! And do something please!”
She told the “hero” who was literally sitting on the roof comfortably behind her, looking as if he was not in a fight that can easily kill them both.
“Nah, it’s totally under your control, M'lady!”
Oh, that insufferable-!
Another beam impacted her spinning yoyo, cutting that thought from her mind.
She had to move away as the Akuma jumped in the air, their weapon still aimed at her.
Insticts that she honed from months of vigilance against supervillains commanded her to jump away.
She did.
“Chat evade the beam!”
Unfortunately, he wasn’t that focused on the Akuma and more into mentally enjoying how he was making Ladybug angry and helpless, so he didn’t see the danger until it was too late.
The beam struck him, and immadiately, it bounced back faster than Marinette was able to react, and she too was struck.
She barely stumbled as she made contact with the ground, taking a second to look at the world around her, feeling… different.
Gone was her genuine desire help people. Gone was her determination to stop Hawkmoth, and gone was her interest in doing anything that she doesn’t feel is absolutely needed to do if it wouldn’t cause problems to her.
No. What she now felt was a desire to not care about what people wanted her to do, to enjoy doing whatever she wanted, and damn any result that doesn’t negatively impact her.
Her eyes managed to quickly look at Chat Noir’s figure, and a harsh smile nearly appeared at her face.
That brat. Becoming worse as time goes on.
She didn’t complain about how he acted at the beginning since she thought he was just being excited at being a superhero.
But then he started to act like a jerk, and she didn’t know how to deal with it, since he was her “permanant partner”, and Fu not raising a fuss over his actions simply made things more difficult.
Now, as she looks at him from what she believes to be his perspective on her, or life in general, she feels nothing but annoyance and contempt.
How dare he act like he has the right to control her, to expect her to babysit him?
He will not have anymore power over her, Fu and the consequences be damned.
She was Ladybug, and she knows what to do.
And her legs moved towards him.
And at that very moment, Adrien was internally reeling, horror filling his mind.
How? How could he have been that cruel?
A sudden and heavy sense of responsibility and desire to be compassionate filled his mind, and it made him shiver at how he acted.
How could he have been so uncaring as to not help Ladybug, the one who was his partner and always made sure to pick up his slack, and his reward to her was more attemptes, successful or otherwise to ignore and purposely violate her boundaries? Her simple requests? Her wish that he shows her even the slightest bit of human decency?!
How!? How could he have been THAT much of a manipulative asshole!?
A quick movement was felt and he was barely able to recognize Ladybug’s face before her hand caught him, and her other hand swiftly took away the Ring from him and promptly jumping so the Akuma won’t strike.
Adrien detransformed, horror etched on  his face now, knowing that he made a big mistake from his own making.
All because he was a selfish entitled brat.
Marinette takes only a moment to blink as she processed who her harasser was (and he will never have more chance to do so, since his identity is now revealed)
Luckily, the Akuma looked shocked, most likely Hawkmoth showing his expressions through them.
Even though she regrets what she was going to do, she knows that the consequences will not be good for her if she acted like him now and ignored the Akuma, not to mention, better now before Hawkmoth gets to process his feelings.
With a heavy heart, she swiftly defeated the Akuma, and cast the cure.
How do things go from there?
Naturally, Adrien won’t be a mirculous holder any longer, but what are the long-term consequences for this divergence?
Does he realise that it is his attitude and manipulative habits that caused him to lose his so-called freedom?
And if so, does he learn from this, becoming a better person in the process?
Or does he refuse to acknowledge his shortcomings and flaws, solely blaming this whole thing on Marinette and Hawkmoth?
———-
P.S: If Marinette was actually even half as cruel and uncaring as Adrien is, he would have lost his Miraculous even before the Bubbler occured, lol.

Payback
Hey everyone! I’ve been writing this new story for the past couple of days, and am planning to take a break for a while after this. My husband and I are expecting our first child next week and will be focusing on her. For that reason, I decided to give the class some sugar, as we all need some goodness in the world. I’ll be back when things settle down, but until then, Warm-Fuzzies and please enjoy!
It was just an average conversation. Alya was sitting at her desk before class with Lila since Marinette was late again. It was very pleasant until the italian girl said something… wrong.
“After I saved Jagged’s kitten from being run over by the plane and he wrote that song about me, we kept in touch.” Lila tittered away, without a care. “He ended up mentioning how he wanted a pair of special glasses for his tour, so I made him those Eiffel Tower glasses that he loves so much. Next thing I know, he’s bragging about me to all his friends and they’re all asking me to make things for them too. I ended up making a website and going by the alias MDC. Isn’t that amazing?”
Alya hadn’t had a chance to answer as Marinette came rushing into the room a second before the bell rang and Mme. Bustier began her lesson. Although whatever the teacher was saying was practically ignored by the majority of the class that had heard Lila’s claim.
Because they knew.
They had been there when Marinette had made those glasses for Jagged Stone for the work experience day at Chloe’s family hotel. They knew that Marinette went by the acronym MDC for the initials of her name. Max, Rose, Juleka, Mylene, Kim, and Alya had all helped Marinette set up her website and model her designs a couple months ago, while Lila had been traveling…
She’s a LIAR!! They all thought at once.
During the next break, Alya quickly set up a group chat with everyone but Lila and Marinette.
FoxyJournalist: You all heard that, right? She’s lying about being MDC, but that’s Marinette!
DJTurtle: So not cool, doesn’t she know that we were there? Is this some kind of joke?
MightIllustrator: Don’t think so, she’s still bragging about it back here.
GothicBeauty: @DJTurtle Agreed, not cool.
Rocker’n’Pink: I can’t believe it! I just emailed Prince Ali to see if he knows her, because if Lila’s lying about this…
BigTeddy: …
SmolTeddy: …
TrueBrain: …
Da’Strongest: … Crap
Sk8Grl: … I second that Crap
FoxyJournalist: Emergency meeting at my place tonight! We need to figure all this out!
DJTurtle: Agreed.
TruQueen: We’ll be there too. I don’t like Dupain-Cheng, but I HATE Rossi.
MissRed: I’ll bring snacks.
By the time class started again, everyone had agreed to meet up after school. The hard part, as it turned out, was shaking the liar, who practically latched onto their group and wouldn’t let them be. It was Mylene you finally came up with an idea, mentioning that they were going to the homeless shelter to help feed people and clean the facility. Lila suddenly remembered that she already had plans and couldn’t come help them, before turning to walk home.
Once she was out of earshot, Alix turned to the other girl with a smirk. “Good going, how’d you know that’d work?”
Mylene shrugged. “I was thinking earlier about all the times she talked about charity work but always made excuses to not come with us when we were doing it. I figured she’d do it this time too, and I was right.”
An hour later the entire class; sans Marinette, Lila, and Adrien, who was at a photoshoot, were gathered in the Cesaire apartment. Everyone had their phones or tablets out, looking up everything that Lila had told them since coming to school. And what they found was anything but comforting.
Connection to Jagged Stone due to saving a kitten: lies, according to articles about his one and only pet for the past 17 years, Fang the crocodile.
Connection to Prince Ali via Go-Green charities: lies, according to Prince Ali himself when he responded to Rose’s email, plus he didn’t do green charities, instead focusing on children’s charities.
Secretly dating Adrien: lies, confirmed when Adrien called Nino back during a break and let it slip that Lila was only his friend and that she made him uncomfortable at times because of how clingy she was.
Every single thing they looked up about Lila turned out to be a lie. And although they couldn’t prove it themselves, that likely meant that all of the diseases and injuries that she’d claimed to have were probably fake too. Meaning that they had been buying her lunch and giving her money for charities, and the money was probably going straight into the liar’s pocket.
“By my calculations, when including all the lunches and food we bought for her, money we donated for charities she wasn’t involved in, and tickets for events she attended with us; Lila Rossi has scammed close to €1,000 from our class. All of which we are not likely to get back from her.” Max groused as he typed away on his tablet.
Alix scoffed. “At least all we lost was some money and a bit of our dignity. I’m pretty sure Marinette went through a lot more than us. Heck, that liar tried to convince me last week that Marinette ruined her homework and said ‘if only she understood what it was like for someone to do that to her’ like she was trying to get me to destroy Marinette’s homework as revenge. I didn’t do it, but I let her copy my homework so she wouldn’t lose any points.”
Juleka’s pale complexion went stark white. “She kept telling me how Marinette was only friends with me so she could get close to Luka and make Adrien jealous, and that I was really trusting to let someone like that near my family.”
“When my headphones broke, she told me that she’d seen Marinette messing with them earlier,” Nino told them, his voice laced with guilt as he remembered giving his oldest friend the cold shoulder for days after that.
Alya’s head dropped into her hands as she struggled to hold back tears. “That liar almost had me convinced that Mari was nothing but a jealous bitch who was out to get rid of her since they both had a crush on Adrien. I can’t believe how close I came to buying that bull.”
“And then there’s the expulsion,” Rose added, her voice quivering. “She was accused of stealing, assault, and cheating on that mock exam. Even though Marinette was reinstated, that kind of stuff doesn’t just disappear from someone’s record. What if that keeps her from being accepted into lycee?”
Everyone went pale at that. Although most turned red in the face a moment later from rage for their friend.
“We can’t let her get away with this!” Kim growled as he began pacing the room.
“But is there anything we can really do?” Mylene asked with tears in her eyes.
When the blonde heiress chuckled, sitting off to the side of the room, everyone turned to glare at her, but she wasn’t phased by their looks. “And this is exactly why I decided to come here. None of you have any idea how to deal with someone like Rossi. I, however, have dealt with those types of people multiple times.” The glares ceased, realizing that Chloe was probably right.
“One of the best ways to get back at her, would be to use her own lies against her. Do it in a way that the only way out of it is to admit that she’s a liar. And while we do that, we completely tear down the empire that fake HBIC is trying to build, maybe get her expelled like she tried to do to Dupain-Cheng.”
The class stared at her in surprise, not expecting the former hero to actually be useful in this situation. But what she said…
Alya shook her head in surprise. “I never thought I’d say this, but it sounds like you’re the best option. Please, tell us your plan.”
The smirk Chloe gave them, almost made them feel sorry for what was about to happen to the liar.
~oOo~
The following morning when Lila came to class, she saw everyone fawning over something on their phones or tablets. Curious, she stepped next to Alya and looked over her shoulder to find that she was looking at the MDC website.
She smirked for a second before plastering an appreciative, yet shy grin on her face. “I see you found my website, what do you think of my designs?”
“Gurl, they are gorgeous! I can’t believe you made such intricate clothes and accessories!” Alya gushed as she continued looking through the pictures until she stopped on a design that she had modeled for Marinette, although, like all the other photos, her face wasn’t shown. “And this one here! It’s like a total dedication to Rena Rouge. Make no mistake, Ladybug will always be my favorite, but Rena’s power is really awesome too.”
“I’m glad you like it!” Lila smiled, she was about to go into describing how she was inspired by the design when Alya asked her something surprising.
“Do you think I can have it? Pretty please?”
Lila came up short, not having expected this. “Well, you can just order it from my website-” she began saying, only to stop when Alya’s expression dropped.
“I don’t understand. You always say that if we need anything to just ask you, and you have this dress listed as in stock on your website, it would be nothing for you to just give it to me, right?”
“I-um-”
“And you even told Marinette the other day that if she were a real friend, she wouldn’t mind giving us free pastries whenever we ask, right?”
“R-right! I’m just surprised that you would be so interested in one of my designs. I’ll bring it in tomorrow!”
“Thanks gurl, you're the best.” Alya gushed before giving Lila a hug that actually kind of hurt.
Hurrying back to her seat, Lila resisted the urge to curse as she got onto the MDC website to order and overnight the dress to her apartment. Luckily, the mail normally arrived before she left for school. And doing this would help her convince everyone she was the designer MDC.
~oOo~
Lila’s newest lie about being MDC wasn’t going as planned. Sure, she got a lot of praise and people wearing her designs, but it was costing her. Every time she brought in an item that she’d had to buy and overnight to her apartment to give to one of her classmates, another would practically demand another item that was listed as available on the MDC website. A hat for Alix, a hoodie for Kim, a shirt for Max, a dress for Rose, it went on and on. And when she tried to say that she couldn’t, they would say how Marinette would never do such a thing and then start to question what she told them. This left her no choice but to buy everything they wanted herself and give to them.
Sure, it made her lie all the more believable since she was able to deliver the items they asked for, but it was beginning to clear out her savings. At the rate she was going, she was probably MDC’s best customer.
Then came the day when the MDC website began offering custom orders. Alya asked Marinette for a couple sheets of paper from her sketchbook and a pencil before handing it to Lila. “Gurl, I’ve been wanting you to do something custom for me for weeks, but I wasn’t going to ask since you didn’t have it listed on your website and I didn’t want to take advantage of you. But now, I can tell you exactly what I want and I can even record your process for my blog! Isn’t that awesome?”
Lila gripped the pencil until it nearly snapped. She could barely draw stick figures and she was pretty sure Maribrat knew that, not missing the smirk that the goody-two-shoes was sending her direction. “I would but, oww! My arthritis has been acting up all day and I can barely hold a pencil.” She whimpered pathetically as gingerly gripped her left wrist.
“But that shouldn’t be a problem,” Max spoke up smiling kindly at her. “After all, it’s your left wrist that has arthritis and you’re right handed.”
Shut up, you stupid nerd! She thought, struggling to keep the scowl from her face. “You’re right, but I’m not sure if I’ll have enough time to draw something out before class starts.”
“But, Jagged Stone and Clara Nightingale have commented on your website how you are really good at doing fast concept drawing for your designs. So, it shouldn’t take you too long to come up with something to start with.” Rose commented, her high voice grating on the liar’s nerves.
She was trying to think of another excuse when Chloe began laughing. “You can all stop the act, I think we’ve played it out long enough.”
To Lila’s surprise, the majority of the class nodded before their eager, friendly faces turned to scowls and angry glares as they looked in her direction. Unsure of what else to do, she started faking tears as she looked around the room. “Why are all of you looking at me like that? I haven’t done anything wrong. Did Marinette say something? You know-”
“Cut the crap, Lila! We did our research weeks ago and figured out you’re nothing but a lying bag of nothing.” Chloe cut her off as she stood from her desk and smiled cruelly at the girl. “You really messed up when you started claiming you were the MDC, the rising star of fashion. Everyone in class knows that’s Marinette.”
Unable to help herself, Lila’s head whipped around in shock to glare at the french-asian girl, sitting shocked, but a little smug at her desk. “Is that what Marinette said? She’s lying!”
Alya scoffed this time. “You know, there may have been a point when we might have believed you, but not this time. We were all there when Mari gave those glasses to Jagged Stone and then had her design his album cover. Max and I helped her set up the MDC website. And Rose, Juleka, Mylene, Kim, Max, and I were the ones that modeled the designs posted on her website.”
Lila glared at her. She knew when the jig was up, and there was no point in wasting her energy on her worthless classmates anymore. Still, she couldn’t help but be angry at them. “Well, you all better have the money to pay me back for all the stuff I bought you! Or else I’ll get all of you in trouble with Mme. Bustier and M. Damocles. If you can’t tell, from the time I got Maribrat expelled, I’ve got them both wrapped around my finger.”
“Actually, you can consider all this repaying us.” Max grinned that annoying, calculating grin at her. “Everything you bought was equal to or of similar value to all the lunches we bought you, tickets for events that we covered, or money we donated to your supposed charities, which I’m 96.8% sure was actually your own bank account.”
She growled at that, about to let out a tirade at all of them when Chloe laughed again, gaining her attention again. “Well, all that was to pay back the class, but you’re still not even with Dupain-Cheng or me. I’m sick of seeing your ugly face and hair-don’t in here every day and decided to do something about it. So, I had Daddy get a hold of the Italian Embassy for a meeting the other day. Imagine how surprised and angry they were when the ambassador’s assistant started talking about how incopitant Ladybug and Chat Noir are, since they couldn’t defeat the akuma that had forced her daughter’s school to close for months.”
Lila’s tan skin paled quickly as her head whipped around the room, looking for an escape, but Ivan and Kim were guarding the door.
“The woman was even more surprised after mentioning which school it was and Daddy told her how it was my school. Then I mentioned a girl that had been out of school for the time the assistant had mentioned, and that she claimed to be in the kingdom of Achu via Embassy funds. The Ambassador wasn’t too happy about what he was hearing and cut the meeting short. Although I did hear her mention that she was planning to speak with the principal and her daughter’s teacher. Speaking of, I wonder why Mme. Bustier is so late for class?
Seconds later, the door Ivan and Kim had been guarding burst open, revealing a very angry Damocles, Mme. Bustier, and a woman that had a strong resemblance to Lila. Without a single word, the woman stomped forward, grabbed Lila by the arm, and began dragging her out of the room. Lila tried to pull free as she pleaded for her mother to listen, but the woman didn’t say a single word as the door closed behind them, leaving a very upset Mme. Bustier standing at the front of the room.
The news quickly spread around school before lunch how Lila had done, and was likely to be expelled for truancy, bullying, lying to the staff, and trying to get Marinette expelled. If that hadn’t been bad enough, an akuma had come fluttering into the courtyard just as the two Rossi’s had been leaving. Lila had pushed her mother away in an effort to catch the akuma, only for a yo-yo to smack her hand to catch it, snapping two of the liar’s fingers in the process.
Seeing that, M. Damocles had no choice but to call the police while Ladybug and Chat Noir stood guard over Lila, with Alya recording everything from the moment she’d seen the akuma entering the courtyard. Lila screamed and raged as the police handcuffed her and took her away. Ladybug recommended using a facility outside of Paris, as they had witnessed her willingly going after an akuma.
The class never saw Lila again, although they did hear that she had been deported back to Italy and was dropped in a high security prison’s deepest, darkest hole to be forgotten by the world after being convicted for aiding a terrorist. Granted, none of them had expected that when they had set out to get even with Lila, but after seeing her willingly go after an akuma for revenge, they were glad she was gone.
The class had also profusely apologized to Marinette for not believing her, as well as keeping her in the dark about their plan to expose Lila. Marinette accepted their apology, but admitted that she had been starting to figure it out after Lila kept ordering from her website and her classmates ended up with the ordered items. Then, when she had mentioned her theory to Adrien, he’d shown her the group chat and admitted that the class had planned a way to confront and expose Lila. So, she decided to trust her friends and let their plan play out, using the money Lila had spent to buy more supplies and make matching ‘thank you’ gifts for her friends.
And that’s it! I hope you all enjoyed this bit of class sugar. With all the salt out there, I really needed something sweet and this seemed like a good way to do it!

I get why a lot of people focus on Marinette not learning from her mistakes but Adrien is worst case because his actions are always justified in the show and by fans "him being neglected" ,Marinette more or less has had moments where she was in the wrong but i dont remember it being with adrien, he is very irresponsible as chat noir but it's never framed as him being in the wrong its mostly played for laughs and don't get me started with him overstepping the boundaries being framed as "romantic"
Exactly. The reason I’m harder on Adrien is because no matter what he does, he’s always in the right. Whether he’s scolding Marinette for being upset the person who’s bullied her for years is leaving the city, or having a temper tantrum over Ladybug turning his romantic advances down for the 90th time, he’s always meant to be in the right.
As polarizing as Marinette (or “Stalkernette” according to a certain anti-Marinette blog) is, she still has moments of vulnerability that the narrative calls her out on. Are they all justified? No. Are some of the episodes where Marinette gets blamed for something unfair? Yes. The point is that she is still shown to be an imperfect character.
Adrien never gets any flaws as a character, and it feels like every scene focusing on his family life to make the audience feel bad for him is meant to deflect criticism. How can you be angry at this guy when he’s so sad?
The reason I bring up Chloe’s family life to defend her is because that’s basically what the show does with Adrien. If Chloe’s upbringing isn’t an excuse for her behavior according to Astruc, the same should apply to Adrien.

(Master Post)
_____________________________________________________________
Masquerade surveyed the classroom. Her former classmates now her masked servants. It was fitting how they were all silent. Before, they listened to her because she told them exactly the things they wanted to hear, now they listened because she had power over them. It was kind of poetic in a way.
She looked across the classroom, she realized that there seemed to be more people missing than she initially realized.
“We are missing someone. Aside from Marinette, who is missing?”
The controlled classmates looked amongst themselves. Trying to figure out who was the one that was not in the class.
“Is it Chloé?” Miracular inquired, trying to answer her master’s request.
The akuma looked around.
“Huh… Oh yea, she isn’t here. Well she isn’t important. I was thinking someone else.” Masquerade answered. She looked to her most recently made akuma servant.
The Bubbler, the akumatized version of Nino stood motionless. As if he was not registering what was going on.
“Bubbler? Do you know who is missing?”
The multicolored akuma said nothing. Not even looking in the direction of the mask maiden.
“Bubbler! I order you to answer me!” She commanded with fiery rage.
The akuma turned to face his master, now responding.
“Adrien is missing.” The bubbler answered, his voice robotic and as emotive as a speak and spell.
“So, Adrien isn’t in the room. What a shame. I was planning on turning him into my handsome little knight.”
Masquerade thought for a moment.
Has Adrien been akumatized? Lila wasn’t sure she had ever seen or heard about him getting akumatized. She knew that the class had pretty much gotten hit at least once or twice at some point from what she had heard and read from the ladyblog. But if that goody-goody Marinette hadn’t been akumatized, Adrien likely hadn’t been akumatized either.
“Alright my servants! We have a new mission. I want you to lock this school down! No one is allowed in or out. Anyone you find, bring them to me. If they can be akumatized, then they are joining our cause.”
“Time breaker. Guard the perimeter outside of the school. Anyone outside of Ladybug and Chat noir trying to get in. Tag them, but only if they are suspicious of what’s going on. Stay hidden otherwise.”
“Timebreaker nodded and began skating out of the room in a rush.
“Horrificator, once Timebreaker is outside, seal all the exits in the main building.”
The masked monstress nodded and sped out of the room.
“Dark Cupid, Stoneheart, Princess Fragrance, Miracular and Reflekta. I want you to split up check all of the rooms and bring me potential akumas.”
The five akuma nodded and made their way out the door.
“Gamer and Robostus. I want you to hack into the airwaves. I want access to every Electric device in Paris when I give you the signal. But make sure to be subtle. I don’t want anyone to know about us until I tell you.”
The two nod and start working to get that ready for her.
She focuses her attention to the bubble making akuma that was giving her problems earlier.
Considering how hard it was to break him down, it was understandable. She had saved him for last for a reason. Because he was the hardest one to crack.
He was a relatively calm individual, able to keep a level head. But even he had his weakness. His confidence. Once that was shaken, seeing his entire class taken, knowing his girlfriend was under her control, he couldn't resist another moment. In a way, it was the most satisfying charm on her bracelet.
“Now Bubbler, you are going to go and locate Marinette and Adrien for me. Put them in a bubble and bring them to me. Help that girlfriend of yours.”
The bubbler nodded yes despite severe shaking. Seems even now he is trying to resist the control of the mask.
“Troublesome, but it is only temporary. He will break soon enough.” Masquerade mused to herself.
She looked at the near empty room with contempt. This was hardly a place where she could exact her vengeance. It was so… lame. Though a thought occurs as she realized who she had left standing at attention without orders.
“Evillustrator, I have a special request for you.”
________________________________________________________
“What is this?” Chloé screeched. “My daddy bought me the best phone plan in the city. How can I not have service right now?!”
The nurse felt a chill run down her spine. Could the akuma block out phone signals? Is that why there is no attention being given to the school? How could they call for help? How would anyone know of the akuma attack? Would Ladybug and Chat noir be able to help them?
The nurse started to feel herself going pale, she was just supposed to be a school nurse. Worst thing she needed to deal with was a scraped knee or give a kid an ice pack. Now she has a woman that collapsed on the bed and an akuma that is somewhere in the school. She had just moved to Paris a few months ago. It was her dream to live in the city of love, get her career going, find a nice guy, and just live the good life. But no one told her that supervillain attacks would be so personally connected to her situation? She had heard about this crap in New York and in America. But Paris? It was too much. What if Ladybug and Chat noir didn’t fix everything? What if this was where her story ended. What if…
“Hey!”
The nurse turned to her attention to the voice. It was the brash blonde teen that was complaining.
“You look like you’re going to pass out. Just a heads up, I am not taking care of you.” Chloé commented.
Angela felt her face heat up with annoyance.
“Listen you brat. I don’t have time to deal with your attitude. I have a woman that is out cold from exhaustion in a building with a hostile akuma.”
“Good, at least you aren’t going to faint. I don’t need any more whinny women fainting on me”
The nurse paused, did the girl say that just to help her not succumb to the grim situation?
Chloé started making her way to the door.
“Hey, where are you going?”
“You already got your hands full with the annoying assistant. I need to make a call to daddy. So, I am going to head out the building and try there. Try not to get ripped apart by an akuma, I still need more ice when I get back.”
Angela blinked. This girl wasn’t scared of the akuma. She was actually going out to do something reasonable. If she could call for help, it would mean that this whole thing blows over.
“Okay, I’ll stay here. Be safe.”
“Yea whatever.”
Chloé headed out the door.
Angela felt a ghost of a smile grace her face.
‘Maybe that girl isn’t a complete brat after all.’

The shapeshifting sentimonster growled as it smacked the locker. It lost both primary targets. And worst of all, Ladybug appeared to make this even harder. Masquerade needed to hear about this.
“Master, Marinette and Adrien have escaped my sight.”
The sentimonster heard a sigh of disappointment from the other end.
“It is fine Simularé, They wont be able to escape the school anyway. They will be found soon enough. If anything, this is a blessing in disguise. Having them be the last targets will have them bare witness to how devasting it will all be.” Masquerade answered. “Any news on Ladybug and Chat noir?”
“That’s the other bad news. Ladybug arrived, I am assuming that’s how Marinette managed to escape, and ladybug also took Adrien away as well. No sign of chat noir. But if you know one is here, the other is likely soon to follow.”
There was a brief moment of silence, as masquerade mulled over the information she had received.
“Actually, that works out well for us. Meet up at my location, I have the other students out looking for them, I need your power for something more important.”
“Yes master.”
Simularé shifted back into its phantom form, moving quickly down the hallway to obey her master’s request.
Just as it left, Ladybug popped out of a nearby locker. Relieved it didn’t notice.
“That’s not good, Masquerade likely got everyone in the classroom.” The red heroine said aloud.
She activated her communicator and tried to contact chat noir. But there was no sound.
“Damn it. No signal. Lila likely cut the communication as soon as she realized it.?”
“No worries Buggaboo, I happen to be on site.” A voice called out.
Chat noir jumped out of another locker to reveal he was there.
Ladybug felt a bit of relief at her partner’s appearance. She could tell he felt the same. Better a situation with two heroes.
“Been here the whole time?” The spotted heroine asked her cat crimefighting comrade.
“Just arrived a few minutes ago, I figured something was up, so I decided to take a quick peek. Cat curiosity and all that.”
“And you assumed it was with Collège Françoise Dupont?
“It seemed like a solid guess.”
“Considering the track record, that is reasonable.” Ladybug conceded.
“Ever wonder why it is always this school and never any of the other schools? Paris is a big city. You would think Hawkmoth would decide to branch out to the other schools in the city.” Chat noir inquired as they started walking down the hall.
“I assumed its just a coincidence.”
“Shot in the dark, maybe he has a kid that goes here. He is pretty old” Chat noir dissed.
“I can’t imagine anyone that would want to date Hawkmoth.” Ladybug joked.
“What about the blue lady? She seemed crazy enough.”
“And now that image is burned in my mind. Thanks kitty.” Ladybug sarcastically commented. “Despite the mental scarring, I am glad you got here. Seems a repeat offender got herself an upgrade in the akuma powers department.”
“Lila.”
“How did you know?”
“I was reading the ladyblog, Alya did great work on that article.” Chat noir praised. He mentally applauded his quick thinking.
“Right, kind of the reason I felt the need to keep an eye on this place. But sadly, I was too slow.” Ladybug responded a tad gloomy.
“Hey, don’t sweat it. We will finish this akuma before lunch.”
Ladybug heard a footstep from the end of the hallway.
“Get down!”
Ladybug tackled the cat hero down. Just narrowly avoiding a neon pause symbol, which now suck on the wall.
“Looks like Lila has been busy.” Chat noir noted as he turned his face to the direction of the attacker.
Ladybug looked at the akuma. The white mask covering her friend’s face. Lady Wifi was back.
“Alya…”
The two heroes got into a fighting stance and prepared to take down this controlled akuma.
________________________________________________
The halls were empty and lifeless as the two visiting teens made their way cautiously down the halls.
“Oddly quiet in here.” The fencer commented. “What do you think Luka?”
“Well last time we entered a place with an akuma in it, it was brimming with armored minions. Maybe this akuma has more stealth?” The Musician commented. “So, I don’t think you will be fighting as directly as you are use to Kagami.”
Kagami nodded at that, not exactly happy or sad regarding that remark. Her plan was to see if she could help her friends get out of the building, grab her textbook, and get out. She wasn’t really that interested in fighting a superpowered foe at this moment in time.
The two ceased speaking when they heard approaching footsteps.
“Someone’s coming.” Luka noted.
The two duck into the nearest room.
The two stayed close to the door as they listened to the sound of the approaching figure.
Kagami dropped to the floor silently as to check and see if she could get a visual.
She could only see what appeared to be costume boots of a larger figure. Which made the expert fencer believe it was not friendly.
The figure stopped, looking at the door. The two teens felt their neck hairs stand on edge as they did their best not to make a sound.
After what felt like an eternity, the figure passed the door without checking. Once the sound of his footsteps could no longer be heard, they let out a sigh of relief.
“That was way too close for comfort.”
“Agreed. I would prefer a direct confrontation next time, much less nerve-racking. “
The two carefully open the door and exit the room.
“Seems we found the akuma.” Luka commented. “Now we just need to avoid it and.”
“You mean akumas.” Kagami corrected.
“Akumas?”
Kagami tilted the boys head to look in the same direction she was looking, and sure enough she saw a rather large rock like creature walking the halls.
“Oh… well that is bad.”
Kagami pushed him back into the room and closed the door. Locking it before the rock giant could notice them.
“I’m surprised.”
“By the fact there is an 8-foot-tall rock beast outside?”
“No, by the fact you didn’t try to fight it.”
“I don’t have a weapon.” Kagami replied flatly.
Luka raised a brow at the comment, unsure if the fencer was serious or not about fighting that thing if she had a foil.
“Is something wrong?” A third voice came from behind them.
The two teens turned around, preparing for the worst. Though they were relieved to see it was just an old janitor… in a Hawaiian shirt. Despite his odd dress, he did give off a kind aura. One of a trusting old grandpa.
They noticed that the room seemed to be a sort of teacher’s lounge, with a small counter with a sink and cabinets. As well as a fridge to keep food cold and stored. A place in the school where teachers would come to get a quick coffee or store their lunch.
“Oh good, you aren’t an akuma.” Luka sighed with relief.
“An akuma?” The old man asked.
“Yes, it is very dangerous out there right now. There are multiple villains outside. I would recommend staying put while we go out there and help handle things.” Kagami explained.
“Quite bold of you to go out there against those monsters.” The man responded.
“Don’t worry, we will be careful. We just need to make sure we can get as many people out as we can so Ladybug and Chat noir won’t need to worry.”
“Ah, how selfless of you. You both seem quite capable for ones so young.”
“You’re very kind, but we are just doing what we can. Our friends are out there and they need our help.”
Kagami goes to the door. Checking to ensure the coast is clear again.
The old man pats the musician’s shoulder.
“I am sure you two will figure a way to help your friends.”
“There are too many outside this room.” Kagami grumbled. If only I had a way to fight them.”
The mysterious janitor smiled.
“Say… I did happen to see Ladybug earlier.”
The two teens turned their attention to the old man.
“You did?” they asked in unison.
“Yes, she happened to drop something while rushing. Would you two be so kind as to return them to her when you see her.”
The two of them glance at each other and shrug. The old janitor might be senile.
“Sure… We can give it to her.” Luka assured the old man, trying to remain polite.
The old man moves to a closet, where out of view of the two teens, an elaborate chest with the symbol of the guardian’s decorates the top. He quickly gets two smaller boxes and closes the closet.
“Ah! Here they are.”
He hands the two a small box each. Their eyes go wide.
“They seemed important, so I didn’t want to just leave them on the floor. But I have a feeling you two will take good care of them.”
The two teens were engrossed by the boxes in their hands. They recognized them immediately. These were the boxes Ladybug used when handing out miraculous.
“Where did you find…?” Kagami tried to question, but noticed the old man was no longer there.
“He’s gone…”
“Actually, I am over here.”
The teens look in the opposite direction they were looking in order to see him at the end of the room getting a snack from the fridge.
The duo decided that maybe this old guy wasn’t all there after all and figured it would be best to go somewhere and utilize the ‘gift’ they were just given.
“Stay in the lounge where it’s safe okay?” Luka asked politely.
“Of course. I am not paid if I am not working.”
The two teens checked the door again, and once the coast was clear. They both slipped out of the room.
After he knew they were out of sight, the old man chuckled.
“The senile routine works every time.”
“Master, you really cut it close with that one.” A small turtle creature exclaimed as he popped out from the closet.
“The universe works in mysterious ways Wayzz. What are the odds that there would be an attack on the school the very day I decide to hide out as a janitor?”
“Considering the frequency of akuma attacks, very likely.”
“True, but how about running into two individuals that Marinette had picked to be heroes.” Fu followed up.
“That is quite a coincidence.”
The guardian pulled out his phone and noticed he didn’t have a signal.
“It seems I can’t get a signal to notify her of the reinforcements I sent her way. Likely it would be the same on her end. So, it is a good thing I acted in advance.”
Fu moved to the closet where he kept the miraculous.
“I can’t help but shake the feeling Ladybug and Chat noir will need all of the help they can get.
“Don’t worry master, I am sure Ladybug and Chat noir will be successful.
“Let us keep an eye on things. They might need another ally to turn the tide.

“I am guessing you are also familiar with what’s inside here?” Kagami inquired as the two stealthily moved in the hall.
“I may be familiar with it.” Luka commented.
Kagami contemplated the statement. She figured out the truth.
“Seems we both have used a miraculous then?”
“It appears we have. Though I am not sure Ladybug will be thrilled that someone knows I have helped her.”
“I understand the sentiment. Though lets simply agree to keep it between us.” Kagami answered. “Friends do keep secrets like that if I’m correct.”
Luka smiled at the comment.
“Your secret is safe with me.” Luka assured.
“As is yours.”
The two found the locker room and quickly moved inside.
“Coast is clear.”
The two opened the boxes and as they did two magical creatures appeared in front of them.
A floating creature with multiple spikes appeared in front of the fencer, while another floating creature that resembled a cobra stood in front of luka.
“It is a pleasure to see you again Mistress Kagami.”
“It’s been too long, Longg.” Kagami smiled. Happy to see her kwami friend.
“Hello Luka, itssss been a while.” The snake kwami greeted.
“Happy to see you too Sass.” Luka fist bumped his kwami.
The kwamis stop and turn to see the other kwami there.
“Does Ladybug know about this?” They both ask in unison.
“We will inform her after. Right now, there is a lot of danger.” Kagami exclaimed. “Ladybug needs our help.”
The two kwami nod and prepare to fight.
“Consssider us accomplissses.” Sass answered.
The two teens put on the miraculous.
“Sass! Scales Slither.”
“Longg! Bring the storm”
The two teens transform into their heroic alter egos.
Kagami shifting into the dragon miraculous hero Ryuuko, and Luka changing into the Snake hero Viperion.
The two stop to glance at the other.
“So, what should I call you.” The snake hero asked curiously.
“Call me Ryuuko. And what about you mister snake?”
“Viperion is what I am going with.”
“Fitting.”
“As is yours.”
The two give a nod of comradery before making their way out of the locker room. They had to go help Ladybug.

Ladybug dashed across the hallway, avoiding pause symbols being flung at her by the conniving akuma.
She slid underneath one of the symbols and preformed a daring slide kick to knock Lady Wifi off balance.
While she was unstable, Chat noir charged and used his baton to make contact with her white mask. Believing it was the obvious weak point.
“Got it!” Chat noir exclaimed triumphantly. The strike of the staff knocking Ladywifi a good several meters. Before lying flat on her back.
“Wow, that is a tough mask. I thought for sure that was the weak point.” Chat noir commented.
Lady Wifi stood up robotically.
“There must be a way to snap her out of it. Unless Hawkmoth is learning from his mistakes.” Ladybug hypothesized as she got up from the ground.
“Well I got nothing.” Chat noir shrugged.
Another set of footsteps approaching caught the hero’s attention. The recognized the multicolored bubble maker the moment they saw him.
“Nino… You too?” Chat noir said under his breath.
The Bubble maker used his bubble wand to summon two large bubbles to capture the heroes. Bringing back flashbacks of their first encounter with the bubble akuma.
Chat noir and Ladybug expertly slide between the gaps of the attack, resulting in Lady Wifi getting hit with the large bubbles and being sent flying into the wall via bubble prison.
Chat noir lunged at the Bubbler, his quick pounce pinning him down before he could attack.
“Maybe I can destroy his mask with…”
“Wait Chat noir!” Ladybug called out.
Chat noir paused.
“What if your cataclysm doesn’t free him?”
“And then I am left without the power before a recharge.”
“Exactly. We need to hold off on using our powers right now.”
Chat noir wanted to save his friend. But he knew his partner was right. They needed to conserve their powers before facing Lila.
The Bubbler managed to get the cat hero off of him with a burst of strength. Knocking Chat noir to the ground.
Lady Wifi had gotten free from the bubble attack and was now blocking the other entrance.
Ladybug and Chat noir moved back to back, Ladybug facing the ladyblogger turned mindless akuma slave and Chat noir facing the akumatized DJ.
“Any ideas, Buggaboo?”
“Seems they can’t adapt. They are pretty much mindless slaves. Which makes sense since Lila wouldn’t want them to think for themselves.”
“So you’re saying their movements are simple.”
“Which means they are exploitable.”
Chat noir felt relief watch over him. He knew Ladybug had a plan.

“EWWWW!” Chloé screeched in disgust. The front entrance to the school had been covered in a pink slime.
She wiped her hand on the cleanest section of wall she could find. This was not her day.
“What is with this nasty gross akuma? First, I can’t call Daddy to come and pick me up. I can’t even post about it! How will Ladybug know to save me? Or better yet, get me the bee miraculous so I can help her save the day?”
Chloé decided to try another exit, since she had no plans of sticking around without knowing if she was going to be given a miraculous or not. Plus, she did say she would call for help, and doing that would make her look good in potential hero points.
As she was walking, she bumps into something in the middle of the hall. Which was bizzare since the hall was clear.
“Ouch, right on my bruise. What the hell is…”
Chloé felt her anger shift to fear when she watched as the empty hall now contained a familiar akuma.
“Sabrina?”
The akuma turned to her, her face covered with a white face mask.
“Eww. Your akuma form looks even tacker than before.”
“Take potential akuma to master.” The akumatized Sabrina stated in an emotionless tone. Repeating the order, she had been given.
“Oh no you don’t! Sabrina, I order you to listen to me!”
The akuma ignored the blonde’s command and slowly walked towards her.
“Sabrina… I am warning you. I am going to yell at you over this later if you don’t stop right now.”
Chloé started slowly backing away. She wasn’t sure of what to do.
“Listen… if you stop right now… I’ll uh… let you take a pick of one of my old sweaters.” Chloé bargained, not intending to let her pick one of the ones she actually liked.
Chloé felt her hand touch the sealed door, and knew she was at the end of the hall. She was boxed in.
“This is so unacceptable.” Chloé stated, preparing to get captured. But a flash of Red and Black came out of nowhere and kicked the akuma hard to the wall.
“Ladybug! I knew you would like save me!” Chloé jumped and hugged her savior.
“Im not ladybug.” The heroine spoke.”
Chloé released the hug as she examined who her savior was.
“Who the hell are you?”
Chloé had never bothered to learn the names of any of the other miraculous heroes. She sometimes forgets chat noir’s name.
“Ryuuko.” The dragon heroine stated calmly, almost regretting saving Chloé.
“Did Ladybug send you? Cause it would have been better if she got me to help.”
Ryuuko decided to ignore Chloé’s comment.
“Now we need to leave before she… Where did she go?” Looking at the dented locker that no longer had an akuma lying on the ground.
Suddenly the akuma popped out of nowhere about to strike from above with her tonfa and steal Ryuuko’s powers, but was stopped when a small harp smacked her face.
“She appears to have invisibility.” A voice called out.
The two turn to see the snake hero as he caught his harp on the rebound.
Chloé took a moment to look over the snake hero. She had to admit, he was pretty cute. Not Adrien cute, maybe she would start learning the names of the other heroes.
“Quick thinking Viperion.” Ryuuko thanked the snake teen.
“Just following your lead.” Viperion responded. The two giving eachother a respectful smile. They both seemed to have gotten used to working together.
The akuma got up. Its white face mask making the akuma’s expression unreadable. But its body language exuded rage.
“Seems we aren’t going anywhere until she is taken care of.” Ryuuko said as she stared down the akuma.
Viperion turned to chloé.
“You need to go and get to safety.”
“Okay!” Chloé says as she runs off.
“How come she didn’t give you any sass?”
“Because I already have him.”
Kagami had to admit that was a clever response.
“Not what I meant, but Chat noir would love that joke.”
“I will be sure to tell him it later.”
“Stick to playing guitar. You’re a better musician than comedian.”
Before they could get off anymore banter. The akuma went for another attack.

Simularé entered Ms.Bustier’s classroom.
“I am here.” The ghostly sentimonster announced.
“Excellent.”
The sentimonster looked up to see that the classroom it was expeciting to see had been altered into what appeared to be a rather glamourous throne room. The windows covered by white curtains with the design of an akuma in black. The platforms and stairs had been altered to be marble. And at the top, where Lila’s desk once was was now a golden throne akin to something one would see in a castle. Though despite the impressive change in the classroom it was still being designed. The akuma known as the evillustrator was still creating more furnishings for the room.
“Simulare, I have an order for you.” Masquerade stated as she sat on the new throne. Clearly confident in her position.
The sentimonster approached her master. Stopping only a few feet away.
“I want you to create a mirage over the school. Since Ladybug is already in the school. It would be best if you made sure no one notices whats happening here. I don’t need any additional heroes popping in yet. Let’s handle her before making things public.”
Simularé nodded.
“Understood. But what should we do if she…”
“I have everything under control. Just follow my orders.”
Simularé ceased her questioning.
“As you wish master.”
The sentimonster shifted into her Volpina form and headed out of the classroom.
“She is getting arrogant in her power. If things do go south, I will need to step in.” Simularé said to herself. But for now, she knew she had a role to play.

And that ends part 34.
Seems things are REALLY heating up. Will Viperion and Ryuuko be able to help Ladybug and Chat noir?
Will Ladybug and Chat noir be able to get through to their brainwashed friends?

Ooo, I kinda like the idea that no one sees Tubbo's akumatization coming, even Tubbo? Like, if Ladybug and Chat have filled them in that folks who are experiencing negative emotions are likely candidates for akumatization, then when the Miraculous get taken back by Gabriel, they're all on the lookout for folks who are upset so they can try to get a jump on preventing or stopping akumatizations. Therapuffy and Eret are basically working overtime to encourage open communication and emotional literacy among everyone, lol. And Tubbo's so good at appearing functional, at pushing down his issues, at focusing on the next task to ignore all the past failures, it kind of goes assumed that he's doing alright.
So one day, it's been like a couple weeks since the Miraculous got stolen back. Everyone's been on high alert trying to keep akumas under control, sometimes even responding before Ladybug and Chat do. Because they're just kids, aren't they? They should have a normal teenage experience as much as they can; the Gremlins can handle it as long as they bring the akuma to Marinette to purify later. Point being, the Gremlins have been busy.
And then Tubbo just has one bad day. He woke up on the wrong side of the bed, restless and exhausted from nightmares he didn't bother to tell anyone about, because if he can get back to sleep eventually, clearly they weren't that bad. Plus he's stressed about finding the Miraculous again; it wasn't so hard to steal them in the first place, so why are they so hard to track down now? He'd bonded a little bit with Nooroo and Duusuu, he doesn't want to think about them back in Gabriel's clutches. So he's working himself to the bone trying to figure out where Gabriel might be.
And he and Ranboo are out patrolling for akumas or any other sign of Hawkmoth, and at just the wrong time, Tubbo overhears some kids talking about current events.
"He's such an idiot! Honestly, he's a horrible president. That whole country would be better off without him."
And Tubbo... he knows they're not talking about him. Obviously they're not. No one here even knows about L'manberg, and Tubbo hasn't been president for a long time. All the same, it brings up memories of Dream, smugly telling Tubbo that he'd been playing him for weeks, for months, calling him the worst president ever, calling him stupid. And no one had even denied it, least of all Tubbo. He can't think of one decision he'd made as president that he doesn't want to take back.
But it was ages ago. And Tubbo's over it, he definitely is, he doesn't care. So he ignores his stewing thoughts and keeps walking with Ranboo, just a bit quieter.
And a few minutes later, they see an akuma flying towards them, and they both get ready to follow it and warn whoever it's going for. But it doesn't turn away, it just keeps flying towards them. And they exchange an uneasy look.
"Tubbo?" Ranboo asks, a little nervous when he takes a step away and the akuma doesn't veer from its course. "Are you feeling okay?"
"I'm fine," Tubbo says immediately, like he always does, like it's routine. "I'm fine. It's not me, I'm totally fine."
But the akuma clearly thinks otherwise. And as Ranboo watches in growing apprehension, the akuma dodges Tubbo's attempts to swat it away and lands neatly on the necklace he wears close to his chest, a locket with a group photo of all the gremlins on one side and a portrait of Michael on the other. Black clouds cover the locket, and a familiar purple butterfly appears over Tubbo's eyes as Ranboo shouts in alarm.
And Tubbo had wondered in the past what it was like to be akumatized, how Hawkmoth had apparently been persuasive enough to convince half of Paris to attack their heroes. But now, he understands: it isn't Hawkmoth's offer that convinces people. It's the sudden rush of emotions that floods his veins, every inch of him abruptly crying out in hurt and betrayal and outrage. It's the feeling of a pot boiling over, scalding water splashing out and burning everything in range. It's the furious tremble in his fingers as he's consumed by the sole thought that he didn't deserve what happened to him, that he's been wronged so deeply it hurts, that the only way to make it stop is to make everyone else understand just how he feels. The blood roaring in Tubbo's ears is almost enough to drown out Ranboo, who's shouting something and tugging at Tubbo's arm, but Hawkmoth's voice comes through crystal clear.
"Ah, little Tyrant," says Gabriel Agreste, pleased as the cat who caught the canary, and doesn't that just make Tubbo's blood boil even more. "I was hoping it'd be one of you eventually."
"Get out of my head," Tubbo says, teeth clenched so tightly his jaw aches.
"Oh, of course, Tyrant," Gabriel placates. "Of course. But first... First, I am going to give you the power to ensure you're never attacked again. I will make sure you are heard. I will give you an outlet for all that fury simmering inside of you. And in return, you are going to bring me the other Miraculous."
And logically. Logically, Tubbo knows it's a bad deal. Logically, he knows Marinette and Adrien are his friends, and he'd never try to take their Miraculous. Logically, he should say no, should get Marinette to the akuma and cleanse it and move on and ignore it.
But his emotions are running higher and hotter than he thought possible, and all he can see is Hawkmoth, offering him a way to get rid of them, to feel better, to make everyone finally get it.
And it's not like it'd be hard to grab a couple of Miraculous.
"Alright," says Tyrant, eyes dark. "You've got a deal."
There's a crash of thunder, a billowing outpour of smoke from the corrupted locket, and then Tubbo vanishes, leaving Ranboo alone in the streets of Paris.
"Uh," says Ranboo into his phone, voice high-pitched with panic. "Guys, we have a problem."
;-;
Welp. This hurts. Thanks anon. Oh boy. This hurts a lot. Oh wow.
